The degradation of urban ecology, particularly in metropolitan areas distinguished by dense populations and impervious surfaces, presents a worldwide challenge linked to swift urban expansion. Despite extensive documentation of urbanization's impact on broad regions or specific urban ecosystems over defined time periods, there remains a scarcity of studies investigating the spatiotemporal dynamics of landscape pattern (LP) changes in specific ecosystems at small-to-medium scales within inland megacities as a response to urbanization. Therefore, this work focused on the Bailuwan Wetland Park (BWP) in Chengdu, an inland megacity in southwestern China. Employing satellite imagery data from selected years spanning the previous decade (2010–2021, encompassing 2010, 2012, 2015, 2018, and 2021), this investigation delved into the influences of urbanization on the LP over various time-frames and across different land use/land cover (LULC) types. Our study revealed that urbanization has a significant impact on the patch-/landscape-level characteristics, including the class area (CA), number of patches (NP), patch density (PD), percentage of landscape (PLAND), aggregation index (AI), contagion index (CONTAG), largest patch index (LPI), landscape shape index (LSI), fractal dimension index (FRAC_MN), Shannon's diversity (SHDI), and evenness index (SHEI). Over the period from 2010 to 2021, NP and PD experienced notable increases, while landscape shape (LSI/FRAC_MN) exhibited greater complexity and fragmentation (PLAND) intensified. Further, landscape heterogeneity (AI/CONTAG) and diversity (SHDI/SHEI) decreased. Particularly significant was the conversion of 52 ha of agricultural land to vegetation, resulting in heightened complexity and fragmentation in vegetation patterns. Additionally, the CA of lakes and rivers decreased following the establishment of the park, while the CA and NP of bare land presented significant increases. These findings suggest that rapid urbanization significantly influences the spatial–temporal dynamics of wetland landscape patterns. Ammopiptanthus, a unique evergreen broadleaf shrub endemic to the desert regions of Northwest China, exhibits a remarkable capacity for aeolian erosion control and dune stabilization. Attributed to its robust tolerance in terms of xerotolerance, halophytic adaptations, extreme thermotolerance, resistance to biotic and abiotic degradation and its defensive strategies against herbivory, Ammopiptanthus has emerged as an exemplary model organism for the study of plant resilience to diverse environmental stressors. Current research on Ammopiptanthus is scattered, lacking a systematic review, which poses a disadvantage for subsequent in-depth studies and the effective conservation of this endangered resource. In recent years, natural Ammopiptanthus communities have been severely disrupted, and the species' natural range is rapidly shrinking. Here, this review summarizes the signaling pathways in the Ammopiptanthus response to biotic stress (especially the early signaling events), as well as the research advances in the resistance interactions between biotic and abiotic stresses. Then, the synergistic effects of multiple environmental pressures on Ammopiptanthus could be established, which may provide guidance for further studies on the resistance mechanism of Ammopiptanthus and be beneficial to its natural community protection and reconstruction. Submillimeter wave radiometers are promising remote sensing tools for sounding ice cloud parameters. The Ice Cloud Imager (ICI) aboard the second generation of the EUMETSAT Polar System (EPS−SG) is the first operational submillimeter wave radiometer used for ice cloud remote sensing. Ice clouds simultaneously contain three species of ice hydrometeors—ice, snow, and graupel—the physical distributions and submillimeter wave radiation characteristics of which differ. Therefore, jointly retrieving the mass parameters of the three ice hydrometeors from submillimeter brightness temperatures is very challenging. In this paper, we propose a multiple species of ice hydrometeor parameters retrieval algorithm based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) that can jointly retrieve the total content and vertical profiles of ice, snow, and graupel particles from submillimeter brightness temperatures. The training dataset is generated by a numerical weather prediction (NWP) model and a submillimeter wave radiative transfer (RT) model. In this study, an end to end ICI simulation experiment involving forward modeling of the brightness temperature and retrieval of ice cloud parameters was conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed CNN retrieval algorithm. Compared with the classical Unet, the average relative errors of the improved RCNN–ResUnet are reduced by 11%, 25%, and 18% in GWP, IWP, and SWP retrieval, respectively. Compared with Bayesian Monte Carlo integration algorithm, the average relative error of the total content retrieved by RCNN–ResUnet is reduced by 71%. Compared with BP neural network algorithm, the average relative error of the vertical profiles retrieved by RCNN–ResUnet is reduced by 69%. In addition, this algorithm was applied to actual Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) 183 GHz observed brightness temperatures to retrieve graupel particle parameters with a relative error in the total content of less than 25% and a relative error in the profile of less than 35%. The results show that the proposed CNN algorithm can be applied to future space borne submillimeter wave radiometers to jointly retrieve mass parameters of ice, snow, and graupel. In order to study the soil nitrogen (N) distribution pattern in the root zone of chili peppers under aerated drip irrigation (ADI) conditions and analyze the relationship between soil N distribution and crop growth, two irrigation methods (conventional drip irrigation and ADI) and three N levels (0, 140, and 210 kg hm−2) were set up in this experiment. Soil samples were collected by the soil auger method at the end of different reproductive periods, and the uniformity coefficient of soil N in the spatial distribution was calculated by the method of Christiansen's coefficient. The growth status and soil-related indices of pepper were determined at each sampling period, and the relationships between soil N distribution and chili pepper growth were obtained based on principal component analysis (PCA). The results showed that the spatial content of soil nitrate-N (NO3−-N) fluctuated little during the whole reproductive period of chili peppers under ADI conditions, and the coefficient of uniformity of soil NO3−-N content distribution increased by 5.29~37.63% compared with that of conventional drip irrigation. The aerated treatment increased the root length and surface area of chili peppers. In addition, the ADI treatments increased the plant height, stem diameter, root vigor, and leaf chlorophyll content to some extent compared with the nonaerated treatment. The results of PCA showed that the yield of chili peppers was positively correlated with the uniformity coefficient of soil NO3−-N, root vigor, and root length. ADI can significantly improve the distribution uniformity of soil NO3−-N and enhance the absorption and utilization of N by the root system, which in turn is conducive to the growth of the crop, the formation of yields, and the improvement of fruit quality. In order to provide a theoretical basis for the rational application of nitrogen fertilizer for tomatoes under aerated drip irrigation, a model of the critical nitrogen dilution curve was established in this study, and the feasibility of the nitrogen nutrition index (NNI) for the real-time diagnosis and evaluation of the nitrogen nutrient status was explored. The tomato variety "FENOUYA" was used as the test crop, and aerated drip irrigation was adopted by setting three levels of aeration rates, namely, A1 (dissolved oxygen concentration of irrigation water is 5 mg L−1), A2 (dissolved oxygen concentration of irrigation water is 15 mg L−1), and A3 (dissolved oxygen concentration of irrigation water is 40 mg L−1), and three levels of nitrogen rates, namely, N1 (120 kg ha−1), N2 (180 kg ha−1) and N3 (240 kg ha−1). The model of the critical nitrogen concentration dilution of tomatoes under different aerated treatments was established. The results showed that (1) the dry matter accumulation of tomatoes increased with the increase in the nitrogen application rate in a certain range and it showed a trend of first increase and then decrease with the increase in aeration rate. (2) As the reproductive period progressed, the nitrogen concentration in tomato plants showed a decreasing trend. (3) There was a power exponential relationship between the critical nitrogen concentration of tomato plant growth and above-ground biomass under different levels of aeration and nitrogen application rate, but the power exponential curves were characterized by A1 (Nc = 15.674DM−0.658), A2 (Nc = 101.116DM−0.455), A3 (Nc = 119.527DM−0.535), N1 (Nc = 33.819DM−0.153), N2 (Nc = 127.759DM−0.555) and N3 (Nc = 209.696DM−0.683). The standardized root mean square error (n-RMSE) values were 0.08%, 3.68%, 3.79% 0.50%, 1.08%, and 0.55%, which were less than 10%, and the model has good stability. (4) The effect of an increased nitrogen application rate on the critical nitrogen concentration dilution curve was more significant than that of the increase in aeration rate. (5) A nitrogen nutrition index model was built based on the critical nitrogen concentration model to evaluate the nitrogen nutritional status of tomatoes, whereby 180 kg ha−1 was the optimal nitrogen application rate, and 15 mg L−1 dissolved oxygen of irrigation water was the optimal aeration rate for tomatoes. With the advantages of real-time data processing and flexible deployment, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing systems are widely used in both civil and military fields. However, due to limited energy, it is usually difficult for UAVs to stay in the air for long periods and to perform computational tasks. In this paper, we propose a full-duplex air-to-air communication system (A2ACS) model combining mobile edge computing and wireless power transfer technologies, aiming to effectively reduce the computational latency and energy consumption of UAVs, while ensuring that the UAVs do not interrupt the mission or leave the work area due to insufficient energy. In this system, UAVs collect energy from external air-edge energy servers (AEESs) to power onboard batteries and offload computational tasks to AEESs to reduce latency. To optimize the system's performance and balance the four objectives, including the system throughput, the number of low-power alarms of UAVs, the total energy received by UAVs and the energy consumption of AEESs, we develop a multi-objective optimization framework. Considering that AEESs require rapid decision-making in a dynamic environment, an algorithm based on multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient (MADDPG) is proposed, to optimize the AEESs' service location and to control the power of energy transfer. While training, the agents learn the optimal policy given the optimization weight conditions. Furthermore, we adopt the K-means algorithm to determine the association between AEESs and UAVs to ensure fairness. Simulated experiment results show that the proposed MODDPG (multi-objective DDPG) algorithm has better performance than the baseline algorithms, such as the genetic algorithm and other deep reinforcement learning algorithms. Concrete is vital for the development of modern buildings. However, they suffer from the high viscosity problem in their application process due to the use of a low water–cement ratio in order to maintain their high strength. Developing PCEs with the presence of ester functional groups in their molecular structure is one of the most effective measures to improve the flowability of concrete. Here, three PCEs with different alkyl densities of acrylic acid ester: PCE-M, PCE-E, and PCE-B were designed to explore their viscosity-reducing effect on the performance of cement and concrete. The structures of the three PCEs were characterized via Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Their properties were also determined via zeta potential, surface tension, and rheological experiments. It was found that PCE-M had the best performance, with the lowest surface tension, highest zeta potential, and therefore highest charge density on the cement particles, lowest viscosity, and highest flowability of cement paste, and exhibited the best performance of concrete in terms of workability. The best performance of PCE-M in reducing the viscosity of cement and concrete can be ascribed to the smallest amount of water-repellent alkyl groups, enhancing the electrostatic repulsion and reducing the viscosity, thereby boosting the dispersion and stabilization of cement pastes and concrete. Inland lake water–air interfaces, particularly the partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2), have become key parameters in the study of global carbon cycle changes. However, there are few studies on short-term daily variations in pCO2 in urbanizing lakes. The fluctuations in pCO2 and CO2 fluxes (fCO2) were monitored biweekly on-site for pCO2 assessments during daytime hours (7:00–17:00 CST) from January to September 2020 in an urbanizing lake located in Southwest China. We found a pronounced and uninterrupted decline in the average levels of pCO2 and fCO2 from 7:00 to 17:00 CST. Notably, the mornings (7:00–12:00 CST) exhibited substantially elevated pCO2 and fCO2 values compared to the afternoons. Specifically, compared to 7:00, the mean pCO2 and fCO2 at 17:00 CST decreased by ca. 74% and 112%, respectively. The average daytime pCO2 was 707 ± 642 μatm, significantly higher than the typical atmospheric CO2 levels of 380–420 μatm, while the average pCO2 on 9 January, 1 April, and 27 July was lower than typical atmospheric CO2. Each month, all water environmental parameters showed significant differences. pCO2 and fCO2 reached maximums in September; water temperature and turbidity significantly increased; and pH, dissolved oxygen and transparency markedly decreased. Additionally, the correlation between pCO2 and environmental factors demonstrated that the nutrient levels, dissolved oxygen, pH, and transparency/turbidity had significant roles in CO2 dynamics in this lake. This paper introduces a multi-layered cross-genre corpus, annotated for coreference resolution, causal relations, and temporal relations, comprising a variety of genres, from news articles and children's stories to Reddit posts. Our results reveal distinctive genre-specific characteristics at each layer of annotation, highlighting unique challenges for both annotators and machine learning models. Children's stories feature linear temporal structures and clear causal relations. In contrast, news articles employ non-linear temporal sequences with minimal use of explicit causal or conditional language and few first-person pronouns. Lastly, Reddit posts are author-centered explanations of ongoing situations, with occasional meta-textual reference. Our annotation schemes are adapted from existing work to better suit a broader range of text types. We argue that our multi-layered cross-genre corpus not only reveals genre-specific semantic characteristics but also indicates a rich contextual interplay between the various layers of semantic information. Wetlands are often referred to as the Earth's kidneys. However, wetlands worldwide are still negatively affected due to a lack of comprehensive understanding of wetland landscape ecological health (WLEH). Based on this background, we analyzed and compared the conceptual definitions, research progress, contents (in terms of structural, functional, and process health), and methods (indicator species approach, ecological integrity assessment, conceptual model evaluation including the vigor–organization–resilience (VOR), pressure–state–response (PSR), and ecological feature–function–socioeconomic (EFFS) models, and water–gas CO2 calculation) over the past 20 years (2000–2022). Moreover, the concept definition and research progress of ecosystem health (EH) and landscape ecological health (LEH) and WLEH research outlook were analyzed. In this study, it was shown that WLEH could be considered a LEH subset, while the LEH is a specific EH perspective. These three concepts share a common focus on ecosystem conditions, functions, and services while considering ecological processes and habitat characteristics. However, they differ in the scope and specific types of ecosystems considered. Small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) is a safe and effective surgical procedure for refractive correction. However, the nomogram from the VisuMax femtosecond laser system often overestimates the achieved lenticule thickness (LT), leading to inaccurate estimation of residual central corneal thickness in some patients. In order to improve the accuracy of predicting achieved LT, we used machine learning models to make predictions of LT and analyze the influencing factors of LT estimation in this study. We collected nine variables of 302 eyes and their LT results as input variables. The input variables included age, sex, mean K reading of anterior corneal surface, lenticule diameter, preoperative CCT, axial length, the eccentricity of the anterior corneal surface (E), diopter of spherical, and diopter of the cylinder. Multiple linear regression and several machine learning algorithms were employed in developing the models for predicting LT. According to the evaluation results, the Random Forest (RF) model achieved the highest performance in predicting the LT with an R2 of 0.95 and found the importance of CCT and E in predicting LT. To validate the effectiveness of the RF model, we selected additional 50 eyes for testing. Results showed that the nomogram overestimated LT by 19.59% on average, while the RF model underestimated LT by −0.15%. Porphyrin (TMPyP) functionalized carbon quantum dots (CQDs-TMPyP), a novel and efficient carbon nanocomposite material, were developed as a novel luminescent material, which could be very useful for the sensitive detection of copper ions in the Cu2+ quenching luminescence of functionalized carbon quantum dots. Therefore, we constructed a sensitive "signal off" ECL biosensor for the detection of Cu2+. This sensor can sensitively respond to copper ions in the range of 10 nM to 10 μM, and the detection limit is 2.78 nM. At the same time, it has good selectivity and stability and a benign response in complex systems. Our previous study demonstrated that ovarian wild-type P53-induced phosphatase 1 (WIP1) expression decreased with age. We hypothesized that WIP1 activity was related to ovarian aging. The role of WIP1 in regulating ovarian aging and its mechanisms remain to be elucidated. Adult female mice with or without WIP1 inhibitor (GSK2830371) treatment were divided into three groups (Veh, GSK-7.5, GSK-15) to evaluate the effect of WIP1 on ovarian endocrine and reproductive function and the ovarian reserve. In vitro follicle culture and primary granulosa cell culture were applied to explore the mechanisms of WIP1 in regulating follicular development. This study revealed that WIP1 expression in atretic follicle granulosa cells is significantly lower than that in healthy follicles. Inhibiting WIP1 phosphatase activity in mice induced irregular estrous cycles, caused fertility declines, and decreased the ovarian reserve through triggering excessive follicular atresia and primordial follicle activation. Primordial follicle depletion was accelerated via PI3K-AKT-rpS6 signaling pathway activation. In vitro follicle culture experiments revealed that inhibiting WIP1 activity impaired follicular development and oocyte quality. In vitro granulosa cell experiments further indicated that downregulating WIP1 expression promoted granulosa cell death via WIP1-p53-BAX signaling pathway-mediated apoptosis. These findings suggest that appropriate WIP1 expression is essential for healthy follicular development, and decreased WIP1 expression accelerates ovarian aging by promoting follicular atresia and primordial follicle activation. Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) oil is an important source of vegetable oil for supporting the human diet. However, the high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids in natural soybean oil renders the oil unstable and thus susceptible to the development of unpalatable flavors and trans fatty acids. Therefore, reducing the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids and increasing the content of monounsaturated fatty acids is a longstanding and important target for soybean breeding. However, soybean varieties with a high oleic acid content are rare in soybean germplasm resources, which introduces substantial difficulties in the cultivation of high-oleic-acid soybeans. In this study, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene-editing technology was used to create targeted knockout of the soybean fatty acid desaturase encoding genes GmFAD2-1A and GmFAD2-1B that contribute to the formation of polyunsaturated fatty acids. We obtained fad2-1a, fad2-1b, and fad2-1a/fad2-1b homozygous mutants using two sgRNAs. We found that the oleic acid content increased from 11% to 40-50% in the fad2-1a and fad2-1b mutants and to 85% in the fad2-1a/fad2-1b mutants. We also generated transgene-free double mutants that conferred higher oleic acid, and the fad2-1a/fad2-1b mutant had no adverse phenotyping compared with the wild type. A holographic function screen (HFS) can recompose the wavefront and re-modulate the light-field distribution from a three-dimensional (3D) light field display (LFD) system. However, the spread function of existing HFSs does not particularly suit integral imaging (II) 3D LFD systems, which causes crosstalk and reduces the sharpness of reconstructed 3D images. An optimized holographic function screen with a flat-top rectangular spread function (FRSF) was designed for an II 3D LFD system. Plants absorb nitrogen from the soil using ammonium transporters (AMTs). Plants can precisely regulate AMT1;3 levels using sophisticated regulatory systems, ensuring adequate nitrogen uptake without hazardous ammonium production. Here, we demonstrated that ubiquitylation can contribute to AMT1;3 degradation under high ammonium stress. Using the ubiquitin site mutant AMT1;3K75R,K233R-EGFP, we demonstrated that the loss of ubiquitination affects the dynamic characteristics of AMT1;3 proteins on the plasma membrane and markedly inhibits the endocytosis of AMT1;3 proteins under high ammonium stress. AMT1;3K75R,K233R-EGFP plants also showed inhibition of protein degradation that targets the vesicular pathway after being exposed to high levels of ammonium. Our findings showed that the dynamic properties, endocytosis, and vesicle trafficking pathways of AMT1;3 proteins are altered in AMT1;3K75R,K233R-EGFP under high ammonium conditions. Lake surface water temperature (LSWT) is a key parameter in understanding the variability of lake thermal conditions and evaporation. The MODIS-derived LSWT is widely used as a reference for lake model validations and process studies in data-scarce regions. In this study, the accuracy of the MODIS LSWT was examined on the Tibetan Plateau (TP). In-situ subsurface temperatures were collected at five large lakes. Although the observation period covers from summer to winter, only the observations during the lake turnover period (from October to freeze-up), when the lakes are well mixed, can be used as ground truth. The MODIS LSWT agrees well with the selected in-situ data for the five large lakes, with root mean square error (RMSE) < 1 °C at nighttime and <2 °C in the daytime, indicating a high accuracy of the MODIS LSWT data. Before the turnover period, the water is thermally stratified and the surface water is warmer than the subsurface water, and thus the in-situ subsurface water temperature data and the MODIS LSWT have different representativeness. In this case, if the observations are used as a validation basis, the MODIS errors could be much magnified. This in turn indicates the importance of period selection for the validation. Prefabricated buildings are the future direction of the construction industry. The carbon reduction in prefabricated buildings has attracted increasing attention due to its importance to low-carbon and energy savings in the construction industry and achieving China's "dual carbon" goal. Although research has been conducted on carbon reduction in prefabricated buildings, the use of cloud models for carbon reduction effect evaluation has not been explored. This study therefore aims to develop a cloud model-based evaluation of the carbon emission reduction effect for prefabricated buildings incorporating the characteristics of prefabricated buildings and the building supply chain. The developed model can support assessments of the whole life cycle phases of a prefabricated building. Firstly, carbon flow analysis is carried out from the perspective of the construction supply chain, and the carbon emission reduction effect evaluation index system of prefabricated buildings is established, which contains 5 guideline layers and 26 carbon emission reduction indicators. Secondly, the Continuous Ordered Weighted Averaging operator (C-OWA) is used to calculate the index weight calculation, and the cloud model is applied to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the carbon emission reduction effect. Finally, this model is applied to evaluate the carbon emission reduction effect in the case of a building. The case study validated the efficiency of the developed model. This study extends the knowledge of carbon emission reduction by addressing specific characteristics of prefabrication and the construction supply chain. Over the last few decades, biosensors have made significant advances in detecting non-invasive biomarkers of disease-related body fluid substances with high sensitivity, high accuracy, low cost and ease in operation. Among various two-dimensional (2D) materials, MXenes have attracted widespread interest due to their unique surface properties, as well as mechanical, optical, electrical and biocompatible properties, and have been applied in various fields, particularly in the preparation of biosensors, which play a critical role. Here, we systematically introduce the application of MXenes in electrochemical, optical and other bioanalytical methods in recent years. Finally, we summarise and discuss problems in the field of biosensing and possible future directions of MXenes. Ethylene response factors (ERFs) belonging to the APETALA2/ERF superfamily acted at the end of the ethylene signaling pathway, and they were found to play important roles in plant growth and development. However, the information of ERF genes in strawberry and their involvement in fruit ripening have been limited. Here, a total of 235 ERF members were identified from 426 AP2/ERF genes at octoploid strawberry genome level and classified into six subgroups according to their sequence characteristics and phylogenetic relationship. Conserved motif and gene structure analysis supported the evolutionary conservation of FaERFs. Syntenic analysis showed that four types of duplication events occurred during the expansion of FaERF gene family. Of these, WGD/segmental duplication played a major role. Transcriptomic data of FaERF genes during fruit ripening and in response to abscisic acid screened one activator (FaERF316) and one repressor (FaERF118) that were involved in fruit ripening. Transcriptional regulation analysis showed some transcription factors related to ripening such as ABI4, TCP15, and GLK1 could bind to FaERF316 or FaERF118 promoters, while protein–protein interaction analysis displayed some proteins associated with plant growth and development could interact with FaERF118 or FaERF316. These results suggested that FaERF118 and FaERF316 were potential genes to regulate strawberry ripening. Cancer continues to be one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and its incidence is on the rise. Although cancer diagnosis and therapy have advanced significantly in recent decades, it is still a challenge to achieve the accurate identification and localization of cancer and to complete tumor elimination with a maximum preservation of normal tissue. Recently, second near-infrared region (NIR-II, 1000–1700 nm) fluorescence has shown great application potential in cancer theranostics due to its inherent advantages, such as great penetration capacity, minimal tissue absorption and scattering, and low autofluorescence. With the development of fluorescence imaging systems and fluorescent probes, tumor detection, margin definition, and individualized therapy can be achieved quickly, enabling an increasingly accurate diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Herein, this review introduces the role of NIR-II fluorescence imaging in cancer diagnosis and summarizes the representative applications of NIR-II image-guided treatment in cancer therapy. Ultimately, we discuss the present challenges and future perspectives on fluorescence imaging in the field of cancer theranostics and put forward our opinions on how to improve the accuracy and efficiency of cancer diagnosis and therapeutics. Simple Summary: The MAP kinase cascades are the most important oncogenic drivers of human cancers, including gastric cancer, and blocking this pathway with targeted inhibitors is an important antitumor strategy. Tegaserod maleate binds to MEK1 and MEK2, inhibiting kinase activity and thus suppressing the MEK1/2-ERK1/2 signaling pathway. Thus, tegaserod maleate may have potential as a MEK1/2 inhibitor for gastric cancer. Gastric cancer (GC) ranks fifth in global incidence and fourth in mortality. The current treatments for GC include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Although treatment strategies for GC have been improved over the last decade, the overall five-year survival rate remains less than 30%. Therefore, there is an urgent need to find novel therapeutic or preventive strategies to increase GC patient survival rates. In the current study, we found that tegaserod maleate, an FDA-approved drug, inhibited the proliferation of gastric cancer cells, bound to MEK1/2 and suppressed MEK1/2 kinase activity. Moreover, tegaserod maleate inhibited the progress of gastric cancer by depending on MEK1/2. Notably, we found that tegaserod maleate suppressed tumor growth in the patient-derived gastric xenograft (PDX) model. We further compared the effect between tegaserod maleate and trametinib, which is a clinical MEK1/2 inhibitor, and confirmed that tegaserod maleate has the same effect as trametinib in inhibiting the growth of GC. Marine-derived fungi are emerging as attractive producers of structurally novel secondary metabolites with diverse bioactivities. However, the lack of efficient genetic tools limits the discovery of novel compounds and the elucidation of biosynthesis mechanisms. Here, we firstly established an effective PEG-mediated chemical transformation system for protoplasts in two marine-derived fungi, Spiromastix sp. SCSIO F190 and Aspergillus sp. SCSIO SX7S7. Next, we developed a simple and versatile CRISPR-Cas9-based gene disruption strategy by transforming a target fungus with a single plasmid. We found that the transformation with a circular plasmid encoding cas9, a single-guide RNA (sgRNA), and a selectable marker resulted in a high frequency of targeted and insertional gene mutations in both marine-derived fungal strains. In addition, the histone deacetylase gene rpd3 was mutated using the established CRISPR-Cas9 system, thereby activating novel secondary metabolites that were not produced in the wild-type strain. Taken together, a versatile CRISPR-Cas9-based gene disruption method was established, which will promote the discovery of novel natural products and further biological studies. Streptomyces sp. SCSIO ZS0520 is a deep-sea hydrothermal vent-derived actinomycete. Our previous metabolism investigation showed that Streptomyces sp. SCSIO ZS0520 is a producer of cytotoxic actinopyrones. Here, another four types of secondary metabolites were identified, including six salinomycin isomers (2–7), the macrolide elaiophylin (8), the triterpene N-acetyl-aminobacteriohopanetriol (9), and the pyrone minipyrone (10). Among them, compounds 2–6 and 10 are new compounds. To understand the biosynthetic pathway of these compounds, a bioinformatic analysis of the whole genome was carried out, which identified 34 secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters. Next, the biosynthetic pathways responsive to four types of products were deduced on the basis of gene function predictions and structure information. Taken together, these findings prove the metabolite potential of ZS0520 and lay the foundations to solve the remaining biosynthetic issues in four types of marine natural products. Clonostachys rosea is an important mycoparasite, with great potential for controlling numerous plant fungal diseases. Understanding the mechanisms and modes of action will assist the development and application of this biocontrol fungus. In this study, the highly efficient C. rosea 67-1 strain was marked with the green fluorescent protein (GFP), and the transformant possessed the same biological characteristics as the wild-type strain. Fungal interactions with Botrytis cinerea during co-culture and encounter on tomato leaves were assessed by fluorescence confocal and electron microscopy. The results indicated that once the two fungi met, the hyphae of C. rosea grew alongside those of B. cinerea, then attached tightly to the host and developed special structures, via which the biocontrol fungus penetrated the host and absorbed nutrients, eventually disintegrating the cells of the pathogen. Mycoparasitism to B. cinerea was also observed on tomato leaves, suggesting that C. rosea can colonize on plants and act following the invasion of the pathogenic fungus. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this article, we employed a satellite-enabled Internet of Remote Things (IoRT) network as a promising solution to retrieve data in the most remote areas of interest, where public networks are absent. This article presents a system network based on the satellite-enabled IoRT, a new paradigm that defines a network where each environmental monitoring device can autonomously establish a network with a remote data center. The Xingyun satellite constellation was employed for data retrieval on the Tibetan Plateau (TP). The monitoring system was mainly composed of a ground Internet of Things (IoT) terminal that was built with satellite transceivers, environmental monitoring devices, and system software. We deployed five of these newly developed terminals in harsh areas to monitor environmental variables, and accordingly, air temperature and relative humidity, precipitation, snow depth, land surface temperature, tree stemflow rate, and photosynthetically active radiation were retrieved with the satellite-enabled IoRT network. Field experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed system network, and the results indicated that the average time delay with and without the packet creation mode reached 32 and 32.7 s, respectively, and the average packet loss rate with and without the packet creation mode reached 5.63% and 4.48%, respectively. The successful implementation of the satellite-enabled IoRT network for the rapid retrieval of monitoring data in remote glacier, forestland, and canyon areas at very high altitudes on the TP provides an entirely new and revolutionary data retrieval means for backhauling data from remote areas of interest. The human retina, which is part of the central nervous system, has exceptionally high energy demands that requires an efficient metabolism of glucose, lipids, and amino acids. Dysregulation of retinal metabolism disrupts local energy supply and redox balance, contributing to the pathogenesis of diverse retinal diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inherited retinal degenerations, and Macular Telangiectasia. Background: Many countries show low COVID-19 vaccination rates despite high levels of readiness and delivery of vaccines. The public's misperceptions, hesitancy, and negative emotions toward vaccines are psychological factors discouraging vaccination. At the individual level, studies have revealed negative perceptual/behavioral outcomes of COVID-19 information exposure via social media where misinformation and vaccine fear flood. Objective: This study extends research context to the global level and investigates social media discourse on the COVID-19 vaccine and its association with vaccination rates of 192 countries in the world. Methods: COVID-19 vaccine tweets were compared by country in terms of (1) the number per million Twitter users, (2) mentions of adverse events—death, side-effects, blood clots, (3) negative sentiment (vs. positive), and (4) fear, sadness, or anger emotions (vs. joy). Artificial intelligence (AI) was adopted to classify sentiment and emotions. Such tweets and covariates (COVID-19 morbidity and mortality rates, GDP, population size and density, literacy rate, democracy index, institutional quality, human development index) were tested as predictors of vaccination rates in countries. Results: Over 21.3 million COVID-19 vaccine tweets posted between November 2020 and August 2021 worldwide were included in our analysis. The global average of COVID-19 vaccine tweets mentioning adverse events was 2% for 'death', 1.15% for 'side-effects', and 0.80% for 'blood clots'. Negative sentiment appeared 1.90 times more frequently than positive sentiment. Fear, anger, or sadness appeared 0.70 times less frequently than joy. The mention of 'side-effects' and fear/sadness/anger emotions appeared as significant predictors of vaccination rates, along with the human development index. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that global efforts to combat misinformation, address negative emotions, and promote positive languages surrounding COVID-19 vaccination on social media may help increase global vaccination uptakes. Photoperiodic flowering is an important agronomic trait that determines adaptability and yield in soybean and is strongly influenced by FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) genes. Due to the presence of multiple FT homologs in the genome, their functions in soybean are not fully understood. Here, we show that GmFT3b exhibits functional redundancy in regulating soybean photoperiodic flowering. Bioinformatic analysis revealed that GmFT3b is a typical floral inducer FT homolog and that the protein is localized to the nucleus. Moreover, GmFT3b expression was induced by photoperiod and circadian rhythm and was more responsive to long-day (LD) conditions. We generated a homozygous ft3b knockout and three GmFT3b-overexpressing soybean lines for evaluation under different photoperiods. There were no significant differences in flowering time between the wild-type, the GmFT3b overexpressors, and the ft3b knockouts under natural long-day, short-day, or LD conditions. Although the downstream flowering-related genes GmFUL1 (a, b), GmAP1d, and GmLFY1 were slightly down-regulated in ft3b plants, the floral inducers GmFT5a and GmFT5b were highly expressed, indicating potential compensation for the loss of GmFT3b. Betulinic acid (BA) and its derivatives exhibit a variety of biological activities, especially their anti-HIV-1 activity, but generally have only modest inhibitory potency against influenza virus. The entry of influenza virus into host cells can be competitively inhibited by multivalent derivatives targeting hemagglutinin. In this study, a series of hexa-, hepta- and octavalent BA derivatives based on α-, β- and γ-cyclodextrin scaffolds, respectively, with varying lengths of flexible oligo(ethylene glycol) linkers was designed and synthesized using a microwave-assisted copper-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction. The generated BA-cyclodextrin conjugates were tested for their in vitro activity against influenza A/WSN/33 (H1N1) virus and cytotoxicity. Among the tested compounds, 58, 80 and 82 showed slight cytotoxicity to Madin-Darby canine kidney cells with viabilities ranging from 64 to 68% at a high concentration of 100 μM. Four conjugates 51 and 69–71 showed significant inhibitory effects on influenza infection with half maximal inhibitory concentration values of 5.20, 9.82, 7.48 and 7.59 μM, respectively. The structure-activity relationships of multivalent BA-cyclodextrin conjugates were discussed, highlighting that multivalent BA derivatives may be potential antiviral agents against influenza infection. Verrucosispora sp. SCSIO 07399, a rare marine-derived actinomycete, produces a set of ansamycin-like polyketides kendomycin B–D (1–3) which possess potent antibacterial activities and moderate tumor cytotoxicity. Structurally, kendomycin B–D contain a unique aliphatic macrocyclic ansa scaffold in which the highly substituted pyran ring is connected to the quinone moiety. In this work, a type I/type III polyketide synthase (PKS) hybrid biosynthetic gene cluster coding for assembly of kendomycin B (kmy), and covering 33 open reading frames, was identified from Verrucosispora sp. SCSIO 07399. The kmy cluster was found to be essential for kendomycin B biosynthesis as verified by gene disruption and heterologous expression. Correspondingly, a biosynthetic pathway was proposed based on bioinformatics, cluster alignments, and previous research. Additionally, the role of type III PKS for generating the precursor unit 3,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (3,5-DHBA) was demonstrated by chemical complementation, and type I PKS executed the polyketide chain elongation. The kmy cluster was found to contain a positive regulatory gene kmy4 whose regulatory effect was identified using real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). These advances shed important new insights into kendomycin B biosynthesis and help to set the foundation for further research aimed at understanding and exploiting the carbacylic ansa scaffold. Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that is closely associated with the occurrence and deterioration of cardiovascular disease, depression and other diseases. The evaluation of pharmacological treatments for insomnia brings significant clinical implications. In this study, a total of 20 patients with mild insomnia and 75 healthy subjects as controls (HC) were included to explore alterations of electroencephalogram (EEG) complexity associated with insomnia and its pharmacological treatment by using multi-scale permutation entropy (MPE). All participants were recorded for two nights of polysomnography (PSG). The patients with mild insomnia received a placebo on the first night (Placebo) and temazepam on the second night (Temazepam), while the HCs had no sleep-related medication intake for either night. EEG recordings from each night were extracted and analyzed using MPE. The results showed that MPE decreased significantly from pre-lights-off to the period during sleep transition and then to the period after sleep onset, and also during the deepening of sleep stage in the HC group. Furthermore, results from the insomnia subjects showed that MPE values were significantly lower for the Temazepam night compared to MPE values for the Placebo night. Moreover, MPE values for the Temazepam night showed no correlation with age or gender. One in four American older adults fall every year, resulting in injuries, death, and significant financial burden. Although fall etiology is multifactorial, the medical problems and aging factors that lead to unsteady gait and imbalance represent one of the major fall risks among older adults. A growing number of research studies support the health benefits of regular Tai Chi (TC) practice including improved physical, cognitive, and psychological function. The purpose of this quality improvement project was to assess the feasibility of establishing a 12-week (45 min per session) Tai Chi (TC) program (Sun Style Tai Chi) in a 75 bed assisted living facility as well as to evaluate the potential of the TC program to improve the fear of falling and functional mobility (as proxy for fall risk) and quality of life (QoL). A nurse who was a certified TC instructor taught the program. Twenty-three participants, 96% female and 96% white, mean (SD) age 83 (±7) years, attended one or more TC classes. Class attendance, self-reported questionnaires (e.g., fear of falling, QoL), and objective measure Timed Up and Go (TUG) were used to collect data. Nine participants (39%) completed 9 out of 12 sessions. Eleven participants (48%) completed both pre- and post-intervention measurements and twelve (52%) provided feedback on a post-intervention satisfaction survey. Participants showed 20% improvement in fear of falling (mean relative change) and 21% decrease (mean relative change) in TUG test (p = 0.001) with no clinically important changes in QoL. This quality improvement project suggested that TC is a feasible exercise that might have the potential to reduce risk of falls in older adults, and the program was well accepted with no serious or other adverse events reported. Spatial and temporal precipitation data acquisition is highly important for hydro-meteorological applications. Gridded precipitation products (GPPs) offer an opportunity to estimate precipitation at different time and resolution. Though, the products have numerous discrepancies that need to be evaluated against in-situ records. The present study is the first of its kind to highlight the performance evaluation of gauge based (GB) and satellite based (SB) GPPs at annual, winter, and summer monsoon scale by using multiple statistical approach during the period of 1979–2017 and 2003–2017, respectively. The result revealed that the temporal magnitude of all the GPPs was different and deviate up to 100–200 mm with overall spatial pattern of underestimation (GB product) and overestimation (SB product) from north to south gradient. The degree of accuracy of GB products with observed precipitation decreases with the increase in the magnitude of precipitation and vice versa for SB precipitation products. Furthermore, the observed precipitation revealed the positive trend with multiple turning points during the period 1979–2005. However, the gentle increase with no obvious break point has been detected during the period of 2005–2017. The large inter-annual variability and trends slope of the reference data series were well captured by Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC) and Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) products and outperformed the relative GPPs in terms of higher R2 values of ≥ 0.90 and lower values of estimated RME ≤ 25% at annual and summer monsoon season. However, Climate Research Unit (CRU) performed better during winter estimates as compared with in-situ records. In view of significant error and discrepancies, regional correction factors for each GPPs were introduced that can be useful for future concerned projects over the study region. The WRKY family of transcription factors plays important roles in plant growth and responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. Ammopiptanthus nanus, the only evergreen broadleaf shrub endemic to the desert and semi-desert regions of northwestern China, is highly tolerant to various stresses. However, a systematic study of WRKY proteins in A. nanus has not been reported. In the present study, we identified 63 WRKY genes in the A. nanus genome. Based on the conserved WRKY domains, zinc finger structures, and phylogenetic relationships in their encoded proteins, we classified these genes into four groups (group I–IV) and several subgroups (subgroup IIa–IIe). Conserved motif analysis showed that all motifs except those within the WRKY domains had a subfamily-specific distribution. Expression analysis revealed that the AnWRKY genes had distinct expression patterns, with some being more responsive to herbivory and drought stresses than others. Based on the results of our current study, we speculate that AnWRKY40 and AnWRKY48 are positive regulators of the plant's response to drought and herbivory stresses, respectively. The Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission provides high-resolution precipitation estimates globally. However, their accuracy needs to be accessed for algorithm enhancement and hydro-meteorological applications. This study applies data from 388 gauges in Nepal to evaluate the spatial-temporal patterns presented in recently-developed GPM-Era satellite-based precipitation (SBP) products, i.e., the Integrated Multi-satellite Retrievals for GPM (IMERG), satellite-only (IMERG-UC), the gauge-calibrated IMERG (IMERG-C), the Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (GSMaP), satellite-only (GSMaP-MVK), and the gauge-calibrated GSMaP (GSMaP-Gauge). The main results are as follows: (1) GSMaP-Gauge datasets is more reasonable to represent the observed spatial distribution of precipitation, followed by IMERG-UC, GSMaP-MVK, and IMERG-C. (2) The gauge-calibrated datasets are more consistent (in terms of relative root mean square error (RRMSE) and correlation coefficient (R)) than the satellite-only datasets in representing the seasonal dynamic range of precipitation. However, all four datasets can reproduce the seasonal cycle of precipitation, which is predominately governed by the monsoon system. (3) Although all four SBP products underestimate the monsoonal precipitation, the gauge-calibrated IMERG-C yields smaller mean bias than GSMaP-Gauge, while GSMaP-Gauge shows the smaller RRMSE and higher R-value; indicating IMERG-C is more reliable to estimate precipitation amount than GSMaP-Gauge, whereas GSMaP-Gauge presents more reasonable spatial distribution than IMERG-C. Only IMERG-C moderately reproduces the evident elevation-dependent pattern of precipitation revealed by gauge observations, i.e., gradually increasing with elevation up to 2000 m and then decreasing; while GSMaP-Gauge performs much better in representing the gauge observed spatial pattern than others. (4) The GSMaP-Gauge calibrated based on the daily gauge analysis is more consistent with detecting gauge observed precipitation events among the four datasets. The high-intensity related precipitation extremes (95th percentile) are more intense in regions with an elevation below 2500 m; all four SBP datasets have low accuracy (<30%) and mostly underestimated (by >40%) the frequency of extreme events at most of the stations across the country. The Songliao Basin is the most productive petroliferous lacustrine basin in NE China, and numerous large gas fields with large proven reserves occur in its deep formations. However, considerable challenges remain: (1) the origins and genetic types of the natural gases are controversial; (2) the gas-source correlations are poorly studied; and (3) the migration distance is vague. In this study, these problems are addressed by the study of the gas compositions, light hydrocarbons, and stable hydrogen and carbon isotopes. The gases are predominantly of organic and thermogenic origins. The Huoshiling (J3h) and Shahezi (K1sh) gases are mainly mixtures of coal-derived and oil-associated gases and the mixed-sources of primary kerogen degradation and secondary oil cracking, while the Yingcheng (K1yc) gases are mainly coal-derived gases and predominantly derived from primary kerogen degradation. The gases in different sags are derived from the source rocks developed in the same sags where the gases accumulated, characterized by the proximal-source accumulation. Vertically, the gases in the J3h and K1sh are predominantly sourced by the proximal J3h and K1sh mudstones, while the gases in the K1yc are mainly derived from either the J3h or the K1sh source rocks, suggesting the gas migration with short distances. With the significant attention on global climate change, regional integrated energy systems (RIES) in low-carbon city planning has become one of the most important ways for global cities to achieve the goal of energy conservation and emission reduction. However, the planning strategy used in the primary stage of RIES establishment will greatly affect the system economy and environment. In view of the lack of planning guidance mechanisms for the large-scale RIES in China, a method for RIES preliminary overall planning, focused on energy types and use, is proposed in this paper. A graph theory-based mathematical optimal model was established with the lifetime costs of the whole system as the economic goal, and an improved Prim algorithm was put forward to solve the costs of the transmission and distribution network with the dynamic weight set of pipeline flow. The model was solved by an algorithm based on the idea of a dynamic minimum spanning tree and optimal path planning. The model and method were applied in a China–U.S. low-carbon demonstration city to verify feasibility and validity. Identifying the changes in precipitation and temperature at a regional scale is of great importance for the quantification of climate change. This research investigates the changes in precipitation and surface air temperature indices in the seven irrigation zones of Punjab Province during the last 50 years; this province is a very important region in Pakistan in terms of agriculture and irrigated farming. The reliability of the data was examined using double mass curve and autocorrelation analysis. The magnitude and significance of the precipitation and temperature were visualized by various statistical methods. The stations' trends were spatially distributed to better understand climatic variability across the elevation gradient of the study region. The results showed a significant warming trend in annual Tmin (minimum temperature) and Tmean (mean temperature) in different irrigation zones. However, Tmax (maximum temperature) had insignificant variations except in the high elevation Thal zone. Moreover, the rate of Tmin increased faster than that of Tmax, resulting in a reduction in the diurnal temperature range (DTR). On a seasonal scale, warming was more pronounced during spring, followed by that in winter and autumn. However, the summer season exhibited insignificant negative trends in most of the zones and gauges, except in the higher-altitude Thal zone. Overall, Bahawalpur and Faisalabad are the zones most vulnerable to warming annually and in the spring, respectively. Furthermore, the elevation-dependent trend (EDT) indicated larger increments in Tmax for higher-elevation (above 500 m a.s.l.) stations, compared to the lower-elevation ones, on both annual and seasonal scales. In contrast, the Tmin showed opposite trends at higher- and lower-elevation stations, while a moderate increase was witnessed in Tmean trends from lower to higher altitude over the study region. An increasing trend in DTR was observed at higher elevation, while a decreasing trend was noticed at the lower-elevation stations. The analysis of precipitation data indicated wide variability over the entire region during the study period. Most previous studies reported no change or a decreasing trend in precipitation in this region. Conversely, our findings indicated the cumulative increase in annual and autumn precipitation amounts at zonal and regional level. However, EDT analysis identified the decrease in precipitation amounts at higher elevation (above 1000 m a.s.l.) and increase at the lower-elevation stations. Overall, our findings revealed unprecedented evidence of regional climate change from the perspectives of seasonal warming and variations in precipitation and temperature extremes (Tmax and Tmin) particularly at higher-elevation sites, resulting in a variability of the DTR, which could have a significant influence on water resources and on the phenology of vegetation and crops at zonal and station level in Punjab. The source region of the Indus River (SRIR), which is located in the Hindukush, Karakoram and Himalayan (HKH) mountainous range and on the Third Pole (TP), is very sensitive to climate change, especially precipitation changes, because of its multifarious orography and fragile ecosystem. Climate changes in the SRIR also have important impacts on social and economic development, as well as on the ecosystems of the downstream irrigation areas in Pakistan. This paper investigates the changes in precipitation characteristics by dividing the daily precipitation rate into different classes, such as light (0–10 mm), moderate (10.1–25 mm) and heavy precipitation (>25 mm). Daily precipitation data from gauging and non-gauging stations from 1961–2015 are used. The results of the analysis of the annual precipitation and rainy day trends show significant (p < 0.05) increases and decreases, respectively, while light and heavy precipitation show significant decreasing and increasing trends, respectively. The analysis of the precipitation characteristics shows that light precipitation has the highest number of rainy days compared to moderate or heavy precipitation. The analysis of the seasonal precipitation trends shows that only 18 stations have significant increasing trends in winter precipitation, while 27 stations have significant increasing trends in summer precipitation. Both short and long droughts exhibit increasing trends, which indicates that the Indus Basin will suffer from water shortages for agriculture. Riverside pit-ponds are one of the hidden dangers of flood control project safety. At present, the safety evaluation of riverside pit-ponds is limited to the seepage and stable safety review of the dam, and the impact of the pit on the river flow is not considered. In this paper, a two-dimensional mathematical model of flow is established. Pressure correction method is used to solve the pressure-velocity coupling. Topographic cutting method is used to deal with the dynamic boundary problem. The model grid of the pit-ponds area is encrypted. The accuracy of the model in the analysis of river hydrodynamics is verified by an example. The model is applied to the evaluation of the impact of the pit-ponds on river flooding. Taking some riverside pit-ponds of the Yellow River as an example, the river water level, velocity, and flow in the present condition and the backfill condition are simulated by the model. The results show that the existence of these riverside pit-ponds only affects the hydrological features of regions around the pit-ponds, and the impact is too insignificant to threaten the hydrological safety. Through the hydrological safety assessment of the project, it is shown that the combination of the two-dimensional flow mathematical model with seepage, anti-sliding, and seismic safety review can comprehensively assess the hydrological safety of dike engineering. The flat two-phase thermosyphon has been recognized as a promising technique to realize uniform heat dissipation for high-heat-flux electronic devices. In this paper, a visualization experiment is designed and conducted to study the startup modes and operating states in a flat two-phase thermosyphon. The dynamic wall temperatures and gas–liquid interface evolution are observed and analyzed. From the results, the sudden startup and gradual startup modes and three quasi-steady operating states are identified. As the heat load increases, the continuous large-amplitude pulsation, alternate pulsation, and continuous small-amplitude pulsation states are experienced in sequence for the evaporator wall temperature. The alternate pulsation state can be divided into two types of alternate pulsation: lengthy single-large-amplitude-pulsation alternated with short multiple-small-amplitude-pulsation, and short single-large-amplitude-pulsation alternated with lengthy multiple-small-amplitude alternate pulsation state. During the continuous large-amplitude pulsation state, the bubbles were generated intermittently and the wall temperature fluctuated cyclically with a continuous large amplitude. In the alternate pulsation state, the duration of boiling became longer compared to the continuous large-amplitude pulsation state, and the wall temperature of the evaporator section exhibited small fluctuations. In addition, there was no large-amplitude wall temperature pulsation in the continuous small-amplitude pulsation state, and the boiling occurred continuously. The thermal performance of the alternate pulsation state in a flat two-phase thermosyphon is inferior to the continuous small-amplitude pulsation state but superior to the continuous large-amplitude pulsation state. The Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) mission was designed to provide a global mapping of soil moisture (SM) measured by L-band passive and active microwave sensors. In this study, we evaluate the newly released SMAP enhanced SM products over the Tibetan Plateau by performing comparisons among SMAP standard products, in-situ observations and Community Land Model (CLM) simulations driven by high-resolution meteorological forcing. At local scales, the enhanced SMAP products, the standard products and CLM simulations all generally compare well with the in-situ observations. The SMAP products show stronger correlations (0.64–0.88) but slightly larger unbiased root mean square errors (ubRMSE, ~0.06) relative to the CLM simulations (0.58–0.79 and 0.037–0.047, for correlation and ubRMSE, respectively). At the regional scale, both SMAP products show similar spatial distributions of SM on the TP (Tibetan Plateau), although, as expected, the enhanced product provides more fine details. The SMAP enhanced product is in good agreement with model simulations with respect to temporal and spatial variations in SM over most of the TP. Regions with low correlation between SMAP enhanced products and model simulations are mainly located in the northwestern TP and regions of complex topography, where meteorological stations are sparse and non-existent or elevation is highly variable. In such remote regions, CLM simulations may be problematic due to inaccurate land cover maps and/or uncertainties in meteorological forcing. The independent, high-resolution observations provided by SMAP could help to constrain the model simulation and, ultimately, improve the skill of models in these problematic regions. Polygonatum cyrtonema rhizome (PCR), the dried sweet rhizome of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua, is commonly used as a tonic remedy and a functional food in Asia, Europe, and North America. Multiple components, including secondary metabolites, monosaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides, collectively contribute to the therapeutic effects of PCR. Processing time exerts a significant influence on the quality of PCR, but the various processing stages have not been comprehensively chemically profiled. It is urgent to study processing-induced chemical variations in PCR to control the processing degree. In this study, multiple chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques were used in combination with multivariate statistical analysis to perform qualitative and quantitative research on secondary metabolites and carbohydrates in PCR during processing. The results demonstrated that PCR processing can be divided into three stages, namely the raw stage (0 h), the middle stage (1-6 h), and the late stage (8-18 h). Twenty differential compounds were screened from secondary metabolites and oligosaccharides to distinguish PCR in different processing stages. Furthermore, the chemical variations of Polygonatum cyrtonema polysaccharides (PCP) also entered a new stage after processing for 6 h. Multiple chemical mechanisms, including hydrolysis, oxidative decomposition, dehydration, Maillard reaction, and polymerization were involved in the processing. This work provides a scientific basis to reveal the relationship between processing stage and chemical variations.
