This study aims to optimize the sustainable utilization of excavated soil by incorporating it exclusively as a fine aggregate and cement in the formulation of soil-based controlled low-strength materials. The polycarboxylate superplasticizer was introduced to enhance flowability. Various factors, including the cement contents, initial water contents, and curing time, were systematically analyzed for their effects on the fresh properties, mechanical parameters, transverse relaxation time distribution, pore size distribution, porosity, and corrosivity of soil-based controlled low-strength materials. The results indicate that polycarboxylate superplasticizer effectively dispersed clay minerals and cement particles, enhancing the flowability. The unconfined compressive strength increased with the rising cement content and decreased with the increasing initial water content. Additionally, the transverse relaxation time distribution curves of the soil-based controlled low-strength materials exhibited two peaks. These curves shifted to smaller transverse relaxation time values with the increasing cement content, while gradually shifting to larger transverse relaxation time values with the increasing initial water content. An increase in the cement content resulted in higher volume percentages of small and mesopores, while extra-large pores and macropores decreased. The addition of the polycarboxylate superplasticizer had minimal impact on the pore volume percentage distribution. Furthermore, porosity experienced a decline with the rise in the cement content and curing time, in contrast to a notable increase with a higher initial water content. The generation of p-cymene from the catalytic dehydrogenation of dipentene is one of the most vital approaches for the synthesis of p-cymene in the chemical industry. Herein, CTF polymer was synthesized by an ionothermal method via using terephthalonitrile as monomer and NaCl-KCl-ZnCl2 ternary mixture as catalyst and solvent, and Pd/CTF catalyst was prepared by loading CTF matrix with Pd nanoparticles via a chemical reduction method. The as-obtained Pd/CTF catalyst with the loading amount of 5 wt% Pd showed remarkable catalytic activity in the dehydrogenation of dipentene to p-cymene with a high conversion rate of 100% and a high selectivity of 96% at the reaction temperature of 220 °C in a stainless-steel autoclave containing 0.1 MPa of Ar gas, and also exhibited good stability in the recycling tests. The strong interaction between Pd nanoparticles and CTF and the enhanced electron transfer at the metal-semiconductor interface contribute to the outstanding catalytic performance of Pd/CTF for the dehydrogenation of dipentene to p-cymene. Mushroom residues and swine manure are two common types of agricultural waste that are often returned to fields as organic fertilizers. However, the environmental risks of their reclamation, such as heavy metal pollution, have been less studied. To investigate the potential risks of heavy metal contamination in soils and vegetables after continuously applying mushroom residues and swine manure, field experiments of four consecutive vegetable rotations were conducted in the Qingpu District of Shanghai, Southeast China, from 2019 to 2021. The concentrations of heavy metals in soils continuously fertilized with mushroom residues and swine manure gradually increased. The organic matter content in the soils exhibited a significant correlation with the concentrations of Cu, Zn, Pb, and Cd (p < 0.01), suggesting that the increase in heavy metals is attributed to the use of organic waste. In particular, the application of swine manure increased Cu, Zn, Pb, and Cd concentrations in the soils by 118.3%, 54.9%, 57.6%, and 122.2%, respectively. Moreover, the application of organic waste raised the risk of the bioaccumulation of toxic metals, such as Cd, in vegetables. The Cd concentration was significantly and positively correlated with Zn in the edible parts of vegetables (p < 0.05). The recycling of swine manure more significantly enhanced Cd concentrations in the edible parts of green pepper (Capsicum annuum), eggplant (Solanum melongena), Brassica chinensis, and lettuce (Lactuca sativa), which were 2.53, 1.55, 1.66, and 1.62 times that of the non-fertilizer control (CK), respectively. Although the increase in heavy metals in the soils and vegetables was still mild when compared with the set thresholds of soil and food safety after the four vegetable rotations, the trend of increase in toxic heavy metals in the food chain with a continuous application of organic waste should be carefully considered. A novel calcium copper titanate (CaCu3Ti4O12)–polyvinylidene fluoride composite (CCTO@PVDF) with Cu-deficiency was successfully prepared through the molten salt-assisted method. The morphology and structure of polymer composites uniformly incorporated with CCTO nanocrystals were characterized. At the same volume fraction, the CCTOs with Cu-deficiency displayed higher dielectric constants than those without post-treatment. A relatively high dielectric constant of 939 was obtained at 64% vol% CCTO@PVDF content, 78 times that of pure PVDF. The high dielectric constants of these composites were attributed to the homogeneous dispersion and interfacial polarization of the CCTO into the PVDF matrix. These composites also have prospective applications in high-frequency regions (106 Hz). The enhancement of the dielectric constant was predicted in several theoretical models, among which the EMT and Yamada models agreed well with the experimental results, indicating the excellent distribution in the polymer matrix. Methanol crossover (MCO) significantly affects the performance of a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). In order to reduce its effect, this study presents in-house carbon nanofiber webs (CNWs) used as a porous methanol barrier for MCO control in a passive DMFC. The CNW is made from polyacrylonitrile (PAN) by using electrospinning and heat treatment. The impacts of PAN concentration and carbonizing temperature on the material properties are considered. The concentration of PAN has a great effect on the micro structures of the CNWs since a higher concentration of PAN leads to a larger nanofiber diameter and lower porosity. A higher carbonizing temperature helps promote the sample conductivity. The use of CNWs has twofold effects on the cell performance. It helps significantly enhance the cell performance, especially at a low methanol concentration due to its balanced effect on reactant and product management. There is an increase in peak power density of up to 53.54% when the CNW is used, in contrast with the conventional DMFC at 2 mol/L. The reliability and service life of power cables is closely related to the cable ampacity and temperature rise. Therefore, studying the temperature field distribution and the cable ampacity is helpful to improve the construction guidelines of cable manufacturers. Taking a 8.7/15 kV YJV 1 × 400 XLPE three-loop power cable as the research object, cable temperature is calculated by IEC-60287 thermal circuit method and numerical simulation method, respectively. The results show that the numerical simulation method is more in line with the actual measured temperature, and the relative error is only 0.32% compared with the actual measured temperature. The temperature field and air velocity field of cluster cables with different laying methods are analyzed by finite element method. The corresponding cable ampacity are calculated by secant method. The results show that when the cable is laid at the bottom of the cable trench, the cable current is 420 A, which is 87.5% of the regular laying. Under irregular laying mode, the temperature of cable is higher than that of regular laying mode and the cable ampacity is lower than that of regular laying mode. At the same time, a multiparameter online monitoring system is developed to online monitor the temperature, water level and smoke concentration of the cable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
