Currently, in the blockchain-based distributed microgrid trading system, there are some problems, such as low throughput, high delay, and a high communication overhead. To this end, an improved Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) algorithm (CE-PBFT) suitable for microgrid power trading is proposed. First, a node credit value calculation model is introduced, and nodes are divided into consensus, supervisory, and propagation nodes according to their credit values, forming a hierarchical network structure to ensure the efficiency and reliability of consensus. Secondly, the consensus process is optimized by adopting a segmented consensus mechanism. This approach calculates the consensus rounds for nodes and selects the methods for node-type switching and consensus based on these calculations, reaching dynamic changes in node states and credit values, effectively reducing the communication overhead of node consensus. Finally, the experiments show that compared with the IMPBFT and PBFT algorithms, the CE-PBFT algorithm has better performance in throughput, delay, and communication overhead, with a 22% higher average throughput and 15% lower average delay than the IMPBFT algorithm and a 118% higher average throughput and 87% lower average delay than the PBFT algorithm. In order to improve the mechanical properties and deformation characteristics of permeable concrete, glass fiber was added to this type of concrete. Based on an unconfined compressive strength test, non-contact full-field strain measurement system, and scanning electron microscopy test, the effects of aggregate particle composition, shaking time, fly ash content, fiber length, and fiber content on the strength and permeability of permeable concrete were studied. The results show that the strength and water permeability of permeable concrete are negatively correlated with an increase in shaking time. When the aggregate particle size is 5–10 mm, the permeable concrete has both good strength and permeability. Proper incorporation of fly ash improves the compactness inside the structure. The influence of different lengths of glass fiber on the strength of permeable concrete first increases and then decreases, and the permeable property decreases. With the same fiber length, the strength increases first and then decreases with an increase in the content, while the porosity and water permeability coefficient decrease. Under the test conditions, when the length of glass fiber is 6 mm, and the dosage is 2 kg/m3, the strength performance of permeable concrete is the best, and the permeability effect is good at the same time. In this paper, permeable geopolymer concrete with high compressive strength and permeability is prepared using alkali-activated metakaolin as a slurry, and its mechanical properties are reinforced by adding steel fibers. The influencing factors of the strength, porosity and permeability coefficient of the fiber-reinforced permeable geopolymer concrete, as well as its microstructure and curing mechanism, are determined by conducting an unconfined compressive strength test, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The test results show that, under the water permeability required to meet the specification conditions, when the alkali activator modulus is 1.4 and the activation-to-solid ratio is 0.9, the effect of metakaolin activation is the most obvious, and the unconfined compressive strength of the permeable geopolymer concrete is the highest. Moreover, the paste formed via the alkali activation of metakaolin contains a large number of silica–oxygen and aluminum–oxygen bonds with a dense and crack-free structure, which enables the paste to tightly combine with the aggregates; the strength of the permeable geopolymer concrete is early strength, and its strength at a curing age of 3 days is the highest. The strength at a curing age of 3 days can reach 43.62% of the 28-day strength; the admixture of steel fiber can effectively improve the strength of the permeable concrete, and with an increase in the amount of admixture, the strength of the fiber shows a trend of increasing, and then decreasing. This study aimed to investigate disparities in drivers' visual search behavior across various typical traffic conditions on prairie highways and analyze driving safety at the visual search level. The study captured eye movement data from drivers across six real-world traffic environments: free driving, vehicle-following, oncoming vehicles, rear vehicles overtaking cut-in, roadside risks, and driving through intersections, by carrying out a real vehicle test on a prairie highway. The drivers' visual search area was divided into five areas using clustering principles. By integrating the Markov chain and information entropy theory, the information entropy of fixation distribution (IEFD) was constructed to quantify the complexity of drivers' traffic information search. Additionally, the main area of visual search (MAVS) and the peak-to-average ratio of saccade velocity (PARSV) were introduced to measure visual search range and stability, respectively. The study culminated in the creation of a visual search load evaluation model that utilizes both VIKOR and improved CRITIC methodologies. The findings indicated that while drivers' visual distribution and transfer modes vary across different prairie highway traffic environments, the current lane consistently remained their primary area of search for traffic information. Furthermore, it was found that each visual search indicator displayed significant statistical differences as traffic environments changed. As data relay satellites (DRSs) play an increasingly important supporting role in remote sensing missions, efficient coordination across space–ground multiresources becomes a significant problem. Owing to the implementation problem of the centralized coordinate methods, this paper studies a distributed coordinate resource scheduling method which is realizable in the current space network structure. To be specific, we first formulate the multiple resource coordination problem into an MILP problem based on a modified time-expanded graph. Then, the problem is transferred and decomposed into subproblems for remote sensing satellite (RSS) systems and DRS systems to solve distributedly. Afterwards, we propose a distributed iterative scheme for the RSS systems and DRS systems based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), in which only the schedule information of the inter-satellite links are required to exchange between RSS systems and DRS systems. The effect of expanded body diameter on the displacement field of soil surrounding a pile under different vertical loads was investigated using the half-face pile model test of undisturbed soil. Digital image correlation technology was used to record the displacement characteristics of soil around the pile in real time. The displacement and failure characteristics of the soil around the pile were analyzed. The results show that with an increased load, the soil below the expanded body is compressed, and the soil at both ends will slip, leading to the continuous development of cracks. In a horizontal direction, the soil surrounding the pile first moves close to the pile and then tends to stabilize or move away from the pile. The horizontal and vertical displacement of the soil decreases as the distance from the pile increases. The main area of influence on the soil is below the expanded body, in which the increased diameter of the expanded body results in a gradual increase in the area of influence. Furthermore, all of the load-settlement curves show a slow decline and the bearing capacity increases with the increased diameter of the expanded body. The brown planthopper (BPH) impacts both rice yield and quality. The exogenous application of abscisic acid (ABA) and jasmonic acid (JA) has been previously shown to induce rice resistance to BPH; however, the regulation of rice-mediated defense by these plant growth regulators is unclear. We applied exogenous JA and ABA to rice and analyzed molecular responses to BPH infestation. Nine RNA libraries were sequenced, and 6218 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were generated and annotated. After ABA + BPH and JA + BPH treatments, 3491 and 2727 DEGs, respectively, were identified when compared with the control (BPH alone). GO enrichment and KEGG pathway analysis showed that the expression of several JA pathway genes (OsAOS2, encoding allene oxide synthase; OsOPR, 12-oxo-phytodienoic acid reductase; and OsACOX, acy1-CoA oxidase) were significantly up-regulated after ABA + BPH treatment. Furthermore, exogenous JA increased the expression of genes involved in ABA synthesis. Meanwhile, the expression levels of genes encoding WRKY transcription factors, myelocytomatosis protein 2 (MYC2) and basic leucine zippers (bZIPs) were up-regulated significantly, indicating that ABA and JA might function together to increase the expression of transcription factors during the rice defense response. Simple Summary: Chemical cues are generally thought to be primarily detected by the cephalic organ antennae, maxillary palps, and proboscises in insects. Although several recent studies have reported the chemosensory roles of ovipositors in some moth species, the expression of chemosensory receptors and their functions in the ovipositor remain largely unknown. Here, we systematically analyzed the pheromone gland-ovipositor (PG-OV) transcriptome of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). A total of 26 candidate chemosensory receptor genes were revealed, including 12 odorant receptors (ORs), 4 gustatory receptors (GRs), and 10 ionotropic receptors (IRs). Specific genes including pheromone receptors, ORco, CO2 receptors, sugar receptors, and IR co-receptors were identified. Tissue expression profiling demonstrated that the annotated receptor genes were mainly expressed in the antennae (for ORs and IRs) or proboscis (for GRs), but two ORs, two GRs, and two IRs were also highly enriched in the PG-OV, with expression levels only slightly lower or even similar to those in the antennae/proboscis. This report provides the first large-scale description of chemosensory receptors in the PG-OV of S. frugiperda. It may inspire researchers to investigate how chemosensory receptors function in the ovipositor of S. frugiperda, as well as in the ovipositors of other moths. Chemoreception by moth ovipositors has long been suggested, but underlying molecular mechanisms are mostly unknown. To reveal such chemosensory systems in the current study, we sequenced and assembled the pheromone gland-ovipositor (PG-OV) transcriptome of females of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, a pest of many crops. We annotated a total of 26 candidate chemosensory receptor genes, including 12 odorant receptors (ORs), 4 gustatory receptors (GRs), and 10 ionotropic receptors (IRs). The relatedness of these chemosensory receptors with those from other insect species was predicted by phylogenetic analyses, and specific genes, including pheromone receptors, ORco, CO2 receptors, sugar receptors, and IR co-receptors, were reported. In recent years, deep learning has become prevalent in Remaining Useful-Life (RUL) prediction of bearings. The current deep-learning-based RUL methods tend to extract high dimensional features from the original vibration data to construct the Health Indicators (HIs), and then use the HIs to predict the remaining life of the bearings. These approaches ignore the sequential relationship of the original vibration data and seriously affect the prediction accuracy. In order to tackle this problem, we propose a hard negative sample contrastive learning prediction model (HNCPM) with encoder module, GRU regression module and decoder module, used for feature embedding, regression RUL prediction and vibration data reconstruction, respectively. We introduce self-supervised contrast learning by constructing positive and negative samples of vibration data rather than constructing any health indicators. Furthermore, to avoid the subtle variability of vibration data in the health stage to aggravate the degradation features learning of the model, we propose the hard negative samples by cosine similarity, which are most similar to the positive sample. Meanwhile, a novel infoNCE and MSE-based loss function is derived and applied to the HNCPM to simultaneously optimize a lower bound on mutual information of the positive and negative sample over life cycle, as well as the discrepancy between true and predicted values of the vibration data, such that the model can learn the fine-grained degradation representations by predicting the future without any HIs as labels. The HNCPM is validated on the IEEE PHM Challenge 2012 dataset. The results demonstrate that the prediction performance of our model is superior to the state-of-the-art methods. Familial PHEOs (pheochromocytomas) are inherited as an autosomal dominant trait, and inherited PHEOs can be one clinical phenotype of clinical syndromes, such as multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A (MEN2A). In recent years, there has been a lot of controversy about the factors affecting the penetrance of PHEOs in MEN2A, of which the effects of RET (rearranged during transfection) proto-oncogene mutations are the primary concern. In this report, we performed genetic screening of patients in one family presenting with PHEOs and found they carried a RET c.1901G>A mutation. They were ultimately diagnosed with familial MEN2A. We found that MEN2A patients with the RET c.1901G>A mutation tended to have bilateral PHEOs that appeared earlier than medullary thyroid carcinoma. Genetic analysis showed that the patients also carried novel SLC12A3 (solute carrier family 12 member 3) variants, which are highly associated with Giteman syndrome. The results of protein structure prediction models suggest this SLC12A3 mutant has altered both the protein structure and the interaction with surrounding amino acids. Further studies of the phenotypes and related mechanisms of the gene mutations are required to guide individual assessment and treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Histatin 5 (Hst 5) is an antimicrobial peptide produced in human saliva with antifungal activity for opportunistic pathogen Candida albicans. Hst 5 binds to multiple cations including dimerization-inducing zinc (Zn2+), although the function of this capability is incompletely understood. Hst 5 is taken up by C. albicans and acts on intracellular targets under metal-free conditions; however, Zn2+ is abundant in saliva and may functionally affect Hst 5. We hypothesized that Zn2+ binding would induce membrane-disrupting pores through dimerization. Through the use of Hst 5 and two derivatives, P113 (AA 4-15 of Hst 5) and Hst 5ΔMB (AA 1-3 and 15-19 mutated to Glu), we determined that Zn2+ significantly increases killing activity of Hst 5 and P113 for both C. albicans and Candida glabrata. Cell association assays determined that Zn2+ did not impact initial surface binding by the peptides, but Zn2+ did decrease cell association due to active peptide uptake. ATP efflux assays with Zn2+ suggested rapid membrane permeabilization by Hst 5 and P113 and that Zn2+ affinity correlates to higher membrane disruption ability. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) showed that the higher relative Zn2+ affinity of Hst 5 likely promotes dimerization. Together, these results suggest peptide assembly into fungicidal pore structures in the presence of Zn2+, representing a novel mechanism of action that has exciting potential to expand the list of Hst 5-susceptible pathogens. Three-dimensional information of the burden surface in high temperature and excessive dust industrial conditions has been previously hard to obtain. This paper presents a novel microstrip-fed dielectric-filled waveguide antenna element which is resistant to dust and high temperatures. A novel microstrip-to-dielectric-loaded waveguide transition was developed. A cylinder and cuboid composite structure was employed at the terminal of the antenna element, which improved the return loss performance and reduced the size. The proposed antenna element was easily integrated into a T-shape multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) imaging radar system and tested in both the laboratory environment and real blast furnace environment. Ochratoxin A(OTA) is considered to be one of the most important contaminants of food and feed worldwide. The liver is one of key target organs for OTA to exert its toxic effects. Due to current lifestyle and diet, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has been the most common liver disease. To examine the potential effect of OTA on hepatic lipid metabolism and NAFLD, C57BL/6 male mice received 1 mg/kg OTA by gavage daily. Compared with controls, OTA increased lipid deposition and TG accumulation in mouse livers. In vitro OTA treatment also promoted lipid droplets accumulation in primary hepatocytes and HepG2 cells. Mechanistically, OTA prevented PPARγ degradation by reducing the interaction between PPARγ and its E3 ligase SIAH2, which led to activation of PPARγ signaling pathway. Furthermore, downregulation or inhibition of CD36, a known of PPARγ, alleviated OTA-induced lipid droplets deposition and TG accumulation. Therefore, OTA induces hepatic steatosis via PPARγ-CD36 axis, suggesting that OTA has an impact on liver lipid metabolism and may contribute to the development of metabolic diseases. Shear localization is the main deformation mode for the near beta titanium alloy Ti-5Al-5Mo-5V-1Cr-1Fe loaded at high strain rates at either room temperature or cryogenic temperature. Nanoindentation, transmission electron microscopy, and high-resolution electron microscopy technique are applied to character the microstructure features and mechanical properties in the shear band of near beta titanium alloy. A white and straight band is observed in the shear region. Both microhardness and nanoindentaion hardness in the shear region are inferior to those in matrix. The different microstructure in the edge and the center in the shear band contribute to different mechanical properties. The plasticity of the entire shear band is almost homogenous when specimens are deformed at the cryogenic temperature. Rotational dynamic recrystallization is responsible for the formation of the ultrafine grains in the shear band. The edge of the shear band is composed of elongated grains, while there are ultrafine equiaxed grains in the center of the shear band. Deformation temperature has significant influence on the process of the grain refinement and the phase transformation in the shear band (SB). The grain sizes of the shear band in the specimen deformed at room temperature are larger than those in the specimens deformed at cryogenic temperature. The shear band consists of α phase grains in the specimen deformed at room temperature, and the shear band consists of α phase and lath-like α′ phase grains in the specimen deformed at cryogenic temperature. Application of safety-related information interaction among vehicles has always been a research frontier in Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs). These messages require high real-time performance. There is a lot of research dependant on creating optimization model for communication task scheduling or routing protocols to reduce communication delay. In this paper, we analyze characteristics of safety-related information and introduce Interference Alignment (IA) technology in VANETs. To further improve routing efficiency, a data-driven assisted transmission routing and broadcast model framework for Vehicle to Vehicle(V2V) and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) communication are constructed which are the basis for IA. Depending on the proposed model, we propose an optimization problem of minimizing total number of time slots required for safety information sharing in VANETs. Then a clustering algorithm is designed to narrow feasible solution space. Simulation results show that the approach can effectively reduce the number of time slots required and improve link use by 20% percent compared with no IA applied. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fluridone (FLU) was a pyrrolidone herbicide that was used for selective weeding in wheat, rice, corn and pasture and was also a biosynthesis inhibitor of abscisic acid (ABA), a significant plant hormone. ABA-promoted callose deposition facilitates rice resistance to pests but whether FLU had the opposite influence was unknown. The effects of FLU on the feeding behavior of the brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stål; BPH), after feeding with rice plants treated with FLU, were studied, using an electrical penetration graph (EPG). For susceptible rice cultivar (TN1), the duration for which BPH sucked phloem sap (N4 wave duration) after 15 μmol/L of FLU treatment was longer than that of the control but decreased after 30 and 60 μmol/L FLU treatments. Fecundity of BPH treated with 15 μmol/L FLU had no significant change, while the deposition area of callose was significantly decreased. For moderately-resistant rice cultivar (IR42), no differences in BPH feeding behavior and fecundity were observed but the deposition area of callose declined after treated with 15 μmol/L of FLU. These findings suggested that a low concentration of FLU (15 μmol/L) promoted BPH feeding behavior in TN1 but not in IR42 and the response in IR42 appeared to be more complicated, which provided supplementary evidence that ABA promoted plant resistance to BPH. Nowadays, more and more MMICs (Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuit), such as limiters and switches, are designed to have balanced and unbalanced test pad structures to solve the challenging size restrictions and integration requirements for MMICs. Hybrid balanced and unbalanced RF (Radio Frequency) probes are adopted for an on-wafer test of the heteromorphy structures. The thru standard based on single balanced or unbalanced structures cannot meet the impedance matching requirements of the hybrid RF probes at the same time, which leads to a dramatic decreasing of the calibration accuracy and cannot satisfy the requirement of MMIC test. Therefore, in this paper, the calibration error estimating of hybrid RF probes based on traditional SOLR (Short Open Load Reciprocal) calibration method is performed, and an on-wafer test approach of MMIC based on hybrid balanced and unbalanced RF probes is proposed which combines the OSL (Open Short Load) second-order de-embedding technique with vector error correction and the matrix transformation technique. The calibration reference plane can be accurately shifted to the probe tip with this method, which greatly improves the test accuracy, and an automatic test system is built for this method based on the object-oriented C# language. In this paper, we present an all-in-one wafer-level solution for MMIC (monolithic microwave integrated circuit) automatic testing. The OSL (open short load) two tier de-embedding, the calibration verification model, the accurate PAE (power added efficiency) testing, and the optimized vector cold source NF (noise figure) measurement techniques are integrated in this solution to improve the measurement accuracy. A dual-core topology formed by an IPC (industrial personal computer) and a VNA (vector network analyzer), and an automatic test software based on a three-level driver architecture, are applied to enhance the test efficiency. Wireless Sensor Networks are constrained by low channel utilization and limited battery capacity, so they are widely regarded as the mainly performance bottlenecks. In this paper, in order to improve channel utilization and prolong network lifetime, we investigate the cooperation of multi-hop Wireless Rechargeable Sensor Networks (WRSNs) with Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) technology. In WRSNs, since the flow rate of each node is unknown, the power of the nodes is not constant. However, SIC will not work if the signal power levels at receive node cannot be sorted. To solve this issue, we first construct a minimum energy routing and unify the transmit rate to determine the transmit power. We can also obtain the time scheduling scheme after determining the routing and power. Next, we formulate an optimization problem, with the objective of maximizing the mobile charger's vacation time over the rechargeable cycle. Finally, we provide a near-optimal solution and prove its feasible performance. Simulation results present that SIC can achieve the better upper boundary on throughput (compared to inference avoidance increasing about 180-450%) and no extra transmit and receive energy consumption in the multi-hop WRSNs.

Recently, there is a growing interest in the applications of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). A set of sensor nodes is deployed in order to collectively survey an area of interest and/or perform specific surveillance tasks in some of the applications, such as battlefield reconnaissance. Due to the harsh deployment environments and limited energy supply, nodes may fail, which impacts the connectivity of the whole network. Since a single node failure (cut-vertex) will destroy the connectivity and divide the network into disjoint blocks, most of the existing studies focus on the problem of single node failure. However, the failure of multiple nodes would be a disaster to the whole network and must be repaired effectively. Only few studies are proposed to handle the problem of multiple cut-vertex failures, which is a special case of multiple node failures. Therefore, this paper proposes a comprehensive solution to address the problems of node failure (single and multiple). Collaborative Single Node Failure Restoration algorithm (CSFR) is presented to solve the problem of single node failure only with cooperative communication, but CSFR-M, which is the extension of CSFR, handles the single node failure problem more effectively with node motion. Moreover, Collaborative Connectivity Restoration Algorithm (CCRA) is proposed on the basis of cooperative communication and node maneuverability to restore network connectivity after multiple nodes fail. CSFR-M and CCRA are reactive methods that initiate the connectivity restoration after detecting the node failure(s). In order to further minimize the energy dissipation, CCRA opts to simplify the recovery process by gridding. Moreover, the distance that an individual node needs to travel during recovery is reduced by choosing the nearest suitable candidates. Wireless sensor networks deployed in coal mines could help companies provide workers working in coal mines with more qualified working conditions. With the underground information collected by sensor nodes at hand, the underground working conditions could be evaluated more precisely. However, sensor nodes may tend to malfunction due to their limited energy supply. In this paper, we study the cross-layer optimization problem for wireless rechargeable sensor networks implemented in coal mines, of which the energy could be replenished through the newly-brewed wireless energy transfer technique. The main results of this article are two-fold: firstly, we obtain the optimal relay nodes' placement according to the minimum overall energy consumption criterion through the Lagrange dual problem and KKT conditions; secondly, the optimal strategies for recharging locomotives and wireless sensor networks are acquired by solving a cross-layer optimization problem. The cyclic nature of these strategies is also manifested through simulations in this paper.

We consider a wireless network strategy based on successive interference cancellation (SIC) for mine locomotives. We firstly build the original mathematical model for the strategy which is a non-convex model. Then, we examine this model intensively, and figure out that there are certain regulations embedded in it. Based on these findings, we are able to reformulate the model into a new form and design a simple algorithm which can assign each locomotive with a proper transmitting scheme during the whole schedule procedure. Simulation results show that the outcomes obtained through this algorithm are improved by around 50% compared with those that do not apply the SIC technique.

In this paper, the optimal working schemes for wireless sensor networks with multiple base stations and wireless energy transfer devices are proposed. The wireless energy transfer devices also work as data gatherers while charging sensor nodes. The wireless sensor network is firstly divided into sub networks according to the concept of Voronoi diagram. Then, the entire energy replenishing procedure is split into the pre-normal and normal energy replenishing stages. With the objective of maximizing the sojourn time ratio of the wireless energy transfer device, a continuous time optimization problem for the normal energy replenishing cycle is formed according to constraints with which sensor nodes and wireless energy transfer devices should comply. Later on, the continuous time optimization problem is reshaped into a discrete multi-phased optimization problem, which yields the identical optimality. After linearizing it, we obtain a linear programming problem that can be solved efficiently. The working strategies of both sensor nodes and wireless energy transfer devices in the pre-normal replenishing stage are also discussed in this paper. The intensive simulations exhibit the dynamic and cyclic working schemes for the entire energy replenishing procedure. Additionally, a way of eliminating "bottleneck" sensor nodes is also developed in this paper.

We consider the base station placement problem for wireless sensor networks with successive interference cancellation (SIC) to improve throughput. We build a mathematical model for SIC. Although this model cannot be solved directly, it enables us to identify a necessary condition for SIC on distances from sensor nodes to the base station. Based on this relationship, we propose to divide the feasible region of the base station into small pieces and choose a point within each piece for base station placement. The point with the largest throughput is identified as the solution. The complexity of this algorithm is polynomial. Simulation results show that this algorithm can achieve about 25% improvement compared with the case that the base station is placed at the center of the network coverage area when using SIC.
