Intangible cultural heritage (ICH) reflects a region's history and culture, serving as a significant indicator of regional identity and cohesion. The Grand Canal Basin in China is rich in historical traditions, containing a rich array of ICH resources. Analyzing the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics and influencing factors of ICH within the Grand Canal Basin of China can provide a scientific basis for developing cultural industries and promoting sustainable regional economic growth. This study employed GIS-based spatial analysis methods, including kernel density estimation, the mean nearest neighbor index, and standard deviation ellipse, to investigate the spatiotemporal distribution of 504 national-level ICH items (including extensions) in the Grand Canal Basin of China. The results demonstrate the significant spatial clustering of ICH, with concentrations in high-density regions, particularly at the northern and southern ends of the canal. There is significant regional disparity in the distribution of ICH, with an uneven quantity and structure, predominantly featuring traditional skills and traditional drama categories. The average centroid shift of ICH exhibits a north-to-south oscillatory trajectory. However, overall, it demonstrates a southward-moving trend. This study also underscores the impacts of urbanization, population density, economic development, and transportation infrastructure on ICH distribution. Among these factors, urbanization exerts the strongest influence on the spatial distribution of ICH. The impact of the natural environment is relatively minor; however, it remains a significant element that cannot be overlooked during development. This research offers valuable data and insights for local governments and institutions to formulate evidence-based strategies for the protection and sustainable utilization of ICH resources, promoting sustainable cultural and economic development in the Grand Canal Basin. Investigating the evolution and drivers of multifunctional land use is essential for sustainable land management and regional biological conservation. This research focuses on the Hehuang Valley, where we developed an "ecological-social-production" evaluation system for assessing land use multifunctionality from the perspective of multifunctional landscape. Leveraging Geographic Information System technologies, we conducted a quantitative analysis of spatiotemporal variations in multifunctional land use across the valley in recently twenty years. Correlation coefficients were employed to identify trade-offs and synergies among various land use functions. Additionally, geographical detector and grey relational analysis models were utilized to pinpoint the factors influencing spatiotemporal changes in land use functions during the specified period. The results showed that: (1) During the period, the overall multifunctionality of land use in the Hehuang Valley exhibited an increasing trend. The economic production function of the land showed the highest growth, while the ecological and social functions showed lower growth. (2) In most areas of the Hehuang Valley, there was a positive correlation between social and economic production functions and a negative correlation between social and ecological functions, as well as between economic production and ecological functions. (3) Natural conditions were the main factors of spatial variation of land use comprehensive functions, but human factors, including land use intensity and the rate of farmland conversion to non-agricultural uses, were the primary drivers of temporal changes in multifunctional land use. Understanding the driving mechanisms behind surface urban heat island (SUHI) effects is essential for mitigating the degradation of urban thermal environments and enhancing urban livability. However, previous studies have primarily concentrated on central urban areas, lacking a comprehensive analysis of the entire metropolitan area over distinct time periods. Additionally, most studies have relied on regression analysis models such as ordinary least squares (OLS) or logistic regression, without adequately analyzing the spatial heterogeneity of factors influencing the surface urban heat island (SUHI) effects. Therefore, this study aims to explore the spatial heterogeneity and driving mechanisms of surface urban heat island (SUHI) effects in the Guangzhou-Foshan metropolitan area across different time periods. The Local Climate Zones (LCZs) method was employed to analyze the landscape characteristics and spatial structure of the Guangzhou-Foshan metropolis for the years 2013, 2018, and 2023. Furthermore, Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR), Multi-scale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR), and Geographical Detector (GD) models were utilized to investigate the interactions between influencing factors (land cover factors, urban environmental factors, socio-economic factors) and Surface Urban Heat Island Intensity (SUHII), maximizing the explanation of SUHII across all time periods. Three main findings emerged: First, the Local Climate Zones (LCZs) in the Guangzhou-Foshan metropolitan area exhibited significant spatial heterogeneity, with a non-linear relationship to SUHII. Second, the SUHI effects displayed a distinct core-periphery pattern, with Large lowrise (LCZ 8) and compact lowrise (LCZ 3) areas showing the highest SUHII levels in urban core zones. Third, land cover factors emerged as the most influential factors on SUHI effects in the Guangzhou-Foshan metropolis. These results indicate that SUHI effects exhibit notable spatial heterogeneity, and varying negative influencing factors can be leveraged to mitigate SUHI effects in different metropolitan locations. Evaluating environmental sustainability in the transnational basin of the Tumen River (TBTR) is of great significance for promoting sustainable development in Northeast Asia. However, past research has mostly concentrated on a particular environmental element, making it impossible to thoroughly and effectively show the environmental sustainability dynamics in this transnational area. In this study, we attempted to reveal environmental sustainability trends in the TBTR from 2000 to 2021 using the Environmental Degradation Index (EDI) and analyze the driving forces using a geographical detector. It was found that the TBTR's environmental sustainability decreased significantly, with a degraded region (13,174.75 km2) accounting for 31.01% of the whole area from 2000 to 2021. The dynamics of environmental sustainability on the three sides of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and Russia have shown significant differences, with the most significantly improved in environmental sustainability being the subregion of China. On the Chinese side, the area that significantly improved in environmental sustainability accounted for 26.19% of the area on the Chinese side, which was 1.17 times higher than that of the DPRK's side and 1.24 times higher than that of the Russian side. Land use intensity (LUI), land use and land cover (LULC), and population density (PD) were the most dominant driving forces for environmental sustainability dynamics on the three sides of China, the DPRK, and Russia. In the 21st century, the rapid urbanization process has led to increasingly severe urban heat island effects and other urban thermal environment issues, posing significant challenges to urban planning and environmental management. This study focuses on Zhengzhou, China, utilizing Landsat remote sensing imagery data from five key years between 2000 and 2020. By applying atmospheric correction methods, we accurately retrieved the land surface temperature (LST). The study employed a gravity center migration model to track the spatial changes of heat island patches and used the geographical detector method to quantitatively analyze the combined impact of surface characteristics, meteorological conditions, and socio-economic factors on the urban heat island effect. Results show that the LST in Zhengzhou exhibits a fluctuating growth trend, closely related to the expansion of built-up areas and urban planning. High-temperature zones are mainly concentrated in built-up areas, while low-temperature zones are primarily found in areas covered by water bodies and vegetation. Notably, the Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI) and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) are the two most significant factors influencing the spatial distribution of land surface temperature, with explanatory power reaching 42.7% and 41.3%, respectively. As urban development enters a stable stage, government environmental management measures have played a positive role in mitigating the urban heat island effect. This study not only provides a scientific basis for understanding the spatiotemporal changes in land surface temperature in Zhengzhou but also offers new technical support for urban planning and management, helping to alleviate the urban heat island effect and improve the living environment quality for urban residents. Surface albedo plays a pivotal role in the Earth's energy balance and climate. This study conducted an analysis of the spatial distribution patterns and temporal evolution of albedo, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), normalized difference snow index snow cover (NSC), and land surface temperature (LST) within the Qilian Mountains (QLMs) from 2001 to 2022. This study evaluated the spatiotemporal correlations of albedo with NSC, NDVI, and LST at various temporal scales. Additionally, the study quantified the driving forces and relative contributions of topographic and natural factors to the albedo variation of the QLMs using geographic detectors. The findings revealed the following insights: (1) Approximately 22.8% of the QLMs exhibited significant changes in albedo. The annual average albedo and NSC exhibited a minor decline with rates of −0.00037 and −0.05083 (Sen's slope), respectively. Conversely, LST displayed a marginal increase at a rate of 0.00564, while NDVI experienced a notable increase at a rate of 0.00178. (2) The seasonal fluctuations of NSC, LST, and vegetation collectively influenced the overall albedo changes in the Qilian Mountains. Notably, the highly similar trends and significant correlations between albedo and NSC, whether in intra-annual monthly variations, multi-year monthly anomalies, or regional multi-year mean trends, indicate that the changes in snow albedo reflected by NSC played a major role. Additionally, the area proportion and corresponding average elevation of PSI (permanent snow and ice regions) slightly increased, potentially suggesting a slow upward shift of the high mountain snowline in the QLMs. (3) NDVI, land cover type (LCT), and the Digital Elevation Model (DEM, which means elevation) played key roles in shaping the spatial pattern of albedo. Urban agglomerations significantly alter the regional thermal environment. It is urgent to investigate the evolution and influence mechanisms of urban agglomeration heat island intensity from a regional perspective. This study is supported by Google Earth Engine long-term MODIS data series. On the basis of estimating surface urban heat island intensity (SUHI) in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration from 2001 to 2020 based on the suburban temperature difference method, the causes of heat islands in the urban agglomeration were analyzed by using geographical detector analysis. Additionally, the heat island proportion (PHI) and SUHI indicators were used to compare and analyze the changing characteristics of the urban heat island effect of ten representative cities. The research reveals the following: (1) The average SUHI of the study area increased from 0.11 °C in 2001 to 0.29 °C in 2020, with an average annual increase rate of 0.009 °C. (2) According to the results of the geographical detector analysis, SUHI was influenced by several driving factors exhibiting obvious seasonal variations. (3) SUHI difference between cities is significant in the summer (1.52 °C), but smallest in the winter; the PHI difference between cities is larger in the autumn (46.7%), while it is smaller in the summer. Since China's reform and opening up in 1978, the reclamation and abandonment of cropland in Xinjiang have become significant features of the land use change in the arid land of Northwest China. However, the spatiotemporal changes and driving mechanisms of cropland reclamation and abandonment over long time periods are still unclear, but this is crucial in understanding cropland changes in inland arid land, providing important insights for land management and agricultural development. Based on 40 years of remote sensing data on resources and the environment, this study examines the spatiotemporal characteristics of cropland reclamation and abandonment in Xinjiang over four periods since 1980. Additionally, it uses an optimal parameter geographical detector model to quantify the driving factors for each period. The results indicate that cropland reclamation experiences a "slow decrease–rapid increase" trend, forming a "V-shaped" pattern, while abandonment shows a "rapid decrease–slow decrease–slow increase" trend, forming a "U-shaped" pattern. These trends can be divided into three periods: 1980–1990 (unstable growth), 1990–2010 (stable growth), and 2010–2020 (growth with constraints). The movement pattern of cropland reclamation's center of gravity is "slightly southeast–slightly northeast–southwest", whereas the abandonment's center of gravity shifts "northeast–southwest–northeast". Further analysis reveals that the impact of agricultural technological investment and infrastructure on cropland reclamation has increased, while the influence of natural environmental factors has decreased. Although climate and water resources remain key factors in cropland abandonment, the influence of economic and social factors has gradually diminished, and the impact of agricultural mechanization has steadily risen. In recent years, China's urbanization has accelerated, significantly impacting ecosystems and the carbon balance due to changes in urban land use. The spatial patterns of CO2 emissions from urban land are essential for devising strategies to mitigate emissions, particularly in predicting future spatial distributions that guide urban development. Based on socioeconomic grid data, such as nighttime lights and the population, this study proposes a spatial prediction method for CO2 emissions from urban land using a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model with added fully connected layers. Additionally, the geographical detector method was applied to identify the factors driving the increase in CO2 emissions due to urban land expansion. The results show that socioeconomic grid data can effectively predict the spatial distribution of CO2 emissions. In the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB), emissions from urban land are projected to rise by 116.23% from 2020 to 2030. The analysis of driving factors indicates that economic development and population density significantly influence the increase in CO2 emissions due to urban land expansion. In downstream cities, CO2 emissions are influenced by both population density and economic development, whereas in midstream and upstream city clusters, they are primarily driven by economic development. Furthermore, technology investment can mitigate CO2 emissions from upstream city clusters. Forest defoliating pests are significant global forest disturbance agents, posing substantial threats to forest ecosystems. However, previous studies have lacked systematic analyses of the continuous spatiotemporal distribution characteristics over a complete 3–5 year disaster cycle based on remote sensing data. This study focuses on the Dendrolimus superans outbreak in the Changbai Mountain region of northeastern China. Utilizing leaf area index (LAI) data derived from Sentinel-2A satellite images, we analyze the extent and dynamic changes of forest defoliation. We comprehensively examine the spatiotemporal patterns of forest defoliating pest disasters and their development trends across different forest types. Using the geographical detector method, we quantify the main influencing factors and their interactions, revealing the differential impacts of various factors during different growth stages of the pests. The results show that in the early stage of the Dendrolimus superans outbreak, the affected area is extensive but with mild severity, with newly affected areas being 23 times larger than during non-outbreak periods. In the pre-hibernation stage, the affected areas are smaller but more severe, with a cumulative area reaching up to 8213 hectares. The spatial diffusion characteristics of the outbreak follow a sequential pattern across forest types: Larix olgensis, Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, Picea koraiensis, and Pinus koraiensis. The most significant influencing factor during the pest development phase was the relative humidity of the year preceding the outbreak, with a q-value of 0.27. During the mitigation phase, summer precipitation was the most influential factor, with a q-value of 0.12. The combined effect of humidity and the low temperatures of 2020 had the most significant impact on both the development and mitigation stages of the outbreak. This study's methodology achieves a high-precision quantitative inversion of long-term disaster spatial characteristics, providing new perspectives and tools for real-time monitoring and differentiated control of forest pest infestations. Previous studies have focused on the linear relationship between recreation behavior and environmental variables. However, to inform the planning and design of recreational spaces, it is essential to understand the factors that contribute to differences in the spatial distribution of recreation behavior. This study investigates the characteristics of visitor behavior in urban mountain parks in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, China. It describes the distribution of tourist numbers and the diversity of behaviors in these parks and explores the landscape driving factors of visitor behavior, as well as the interaction effects between the factors from the perspective of spatial driving forces. The results indicate that (1) The observed behaviors in the three parks are primarily access behaviors. The number of visitors and the diversity of behaviors show a high level in the morning and evening and a low level in the midday. (2) There was minimal variation in behavioral composition and behavioral diversity among the study plots of different elevation gradients in the three parks. However, the contrasts between different landscape types were more pronounced, with impermeable plazas exhibiting the highest behavioral diversity and park roads demonstrating the most homogeneous behavioral diversity. (3) The impact of environmental factors was more pronounced than that of landscape pattern factors. The environmental factors that most strongly influenced passing, dynamic, and static behaviors were spatial connectivity value, hard space proportion, and number of recreational facilities, respectively. In contrast, the hard space proportion was the strongest driver of behavioral diversity. Net ecosystem productivity (NEP) is an important indicator for the quantitative evaluation of carbon sources/sinks in terrestrial ecosystems. An improved CASA model and soil respiration model, combined with MODIS and meteorological data, are utilized to estimate vegetation NEP from 2010 to 2020. A Theil–Sen trend analysis, a Mann–Kendall test, the Hurst index, and geographical detector methods were employed to analyze the spatiotemporal variations in NEP in Heilongjiang Province and its driving factors. The results show the following: (1) The overall NEP in Heilongjiang Province exhibited a fluctuating upward trend from 2010 to 2020, with a growth rate of 4.74 g C·m−2·yr−1, and an average annual NEP of 404 g C·m−2·yr−1. Spatially, NEP exhibits a distribution pattern of "low from east to west to high from north to south in the central region", with 99.27% of the area being a carbon sink. (2) Significant regional differences were observed in the spatial trend of NEP changes, with 78.39% of regions showing increasing trends and 17.53% showing decreasing trends. Future NEP changes are expected to continue, with regions showing a persistent increase (58.44%), potential decrease (19.95%), potential increase (5.65%), and persistent decrease (11.88%). (3) The geographical detector results indicate that altitude is the dominant factor affecting NEP, followed by slope, temperature, population density, etc. The interaction-detector results show that the interaction between each factor shows an increasing trend, and the interaction between any two factors is higher than that of a single factor. The 2017 Jiuzhaigou earthquake, registering a magnitude of 7.0, triggered a series of devastating geohazards, including landslides, collapses, and mudslides within the Jiuzhaigou World Natural Heritage Site. These destructive events obliterated extensive tracts of vegetation, severely compromising carbon storage in the terrestrial ecosystems. Net Primary Productivity (NPP) reflects the capacity of vegetation to absorb carbon dioxide. Accurately assessing changes in NPP is crucial for unveiling the recovery of terrestrial ecosystem carbon storage after the earthquake. To this end, we designed this study using the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Net Primary Productivity datasets. The findings are as follows. NPP in the co-seismic landslide areas remained stable between 525 and 575 g C/m2 before the earthquake and decreased to 533 g C/m2 after the earthquake. This decline continued, reaching 483 g C/m2 due to extreme rainfall events in 2018, 2019, and 2020. Recovery commenced in 2021, and by 2022, NPP had rebounded to 544 g C/m2. The study of NPP recovery rate revealed that, five years after the earthquake, only 18.88% of the co-seismic landslide areas exhibited an NPP exceeding the pre-earthquake state. However, 17.14% of these areas had an NPP recovery rate of less than 10%, indicating that recovery has barely begun in most areas. The factor detector revealed that temperature, precipitation, and elevation significantly influenced NPP recovery. Meanwhile, the interaction detector highlighted that lithology, slope, and aspect also played crucial roles when interacting with other factors. Therefore, the recovery of NPP is not determined by a single factor, but rather by the interactions among various factors. The ecosystem resilience study demonstrated that the current recovery of NPP primarily stems from the restoration of grassland ecosystems. Overall, while the potential for NPP recovery in co-seismic landslide areas is optimistic, it will require a considerable amount of time to return to the pre-earthquake state. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

At present, most of the research on shared electric bikes mostly focuses on the scheduling, operation and maintenance of shared electric bikes, while insufficient attention has been paid to the behavioral characteristics and influencing factors of shared cycling in plateau cities. This paper takes Kunming as a research case. According to the user's cycling behavior, the spatiotemporal cube model and emerging hotspot analysis are used to explore the spatiotemporal characteristics of the citizens' cycling in the plateau city represented by Kunming, and the method of geographical detectors is used to study the specific factors affecting the shared travel of citizens in Kunming and conduct interactive detection. The findings are as follows: ① the use of shared electric bikes in Kunming varies greatly on weekdays, showing a bimodal feature. In space, the overall distribution of cycling presents a "multi-center" agglomeration feature with distance decay from the center of the main urban area. ② The geographic detector factor detection model quantitatively analyzes the interactive influence between factors, providing a good supplement to the independent influence results of each factor. Through the dual factor interactive detection model, we found that the overall spatiotemporal distribution of cycling during each time period is most significantly affected by the distribution of service facilities, followed by transportation accessibility, land use, and the natural environment. The research results can assist relevant departments in governance of urban shared transportation and provide a reference basis, and they also have certain reference value in urban pattern planning. The ongoing shifts in climate, coupled with human activities, are leading to significant land desertification; thus, understanding the long-term variations in ecosystem services as well as the driving factors has a significant value for ensuring ecological security in ecologically fragile arid regions. In this study, we used the RUSLE, RWEQ, CASA, and InVEST models to evaluate five typical ecosystem services (ESs) from 1990 to 2020 in the Gonghe Basin, including soil conservation, sand fixation, carbon sequestration, water yield, and habitat quality. Then, we analyzed the trade-offs between ESs and proposed scientific indications. Finally, we identified the driving mechanisms of ES spatiotemporal variations. The results showed that (1) the ecosystem services in the Gonghe Basin have, overall, improved over the past 30 years. Soil conservation, sand fixation, carbon sequestration, and water yield showed upward trends, while habitat quality showed a downward trend. (2) The relationships between ESs in the Gonghe Basin were characterized by strong synergies and weak trade-offs, with significant spatial heterogeneity in terms of the trade-off intensity. In addition, the implementation of ecological engineering may strengthen the intensity of the trade-offs. (3) Among all the factors (temperature, precipitation, wind speed, NDVI, land use type, slope, DEM and soil type) that affected ESs, NDVI had the greatest impact, and the explanatory power was 49%, followed by soil type. The explanatory power of the interactions between each factor was higher than that of a single factor, and the interaction between NDVI and soil type had the greatest impact. ESs increased by 12% mainly due to the implementation of ecological engineering projects and natural factors. The most suitable area for ESs was the southeastern edge of the Gonghe Basin. Our study will enrich the understanding of the mechanisms of ecosystem services in drylands and provide a scientific basis for the future implementation of ecological engineering on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. Over the past few decades, China has undergone the largest and fastest urbanization process in world history. By 2023, Chengdu's urbanization rate had reached 80.5%, significantly higher than the national average of 66.16%. Studying the urbanization experience of Chengdu is of great significance for optimizing urban planning policies in Chengdu and other cities in China. Although much literature has explored the urbanization process from macro and micro perspectives, studies using a top-down approach to examine urban fringe expansion are relatively scarce. This study first applies the entropy weight method to analyze the spatial-temporal evolution trends of urban development, identifying areas of imbalanced development and prominent issues. Secondly, the K-means machine learning algorithm and nightlight data are used to reconstruct and classify urban regions, and a comparative analysis is conducted with administrative divisions to further identify unreasonable areas in urban spatial distribution and structure. Finally, POI data and the geographical detector method are used to analyze the micro-driving forces in areas of imbalanced development, identifying major limiting factors and solutions. The study found that the gap between urban and rural development in Chengdu is narrowing during the urbanization process, but there is severe differentiation in the second circle of Chengdu, where economic development is accelerating but residents' happiness is declining. Moreover, analysis based on urban nightlight data and land-use data reveals that the expansion areas on the urban-rural fringe are mainly concentrated in the second circle of Chengdu. Micro-level driving factor analysis found that the western region of the second circle has many but small urban settlements, with a dense road network but scattered functional areas. The eastern region has inefficient and extensive use of construction land. Additionally, the mismatch between student status and household registration has resulted in relatively lagging educational resource development, and high entry barriers have hindered the progress of urbanization, leading to low per capita welfare expenditure. These reasons are the main factors causing the decline in residents' happiness, and this impact shows significant differences at different temporal and spatial scales. Encouraging innovation in research and development or education can serve as a long-term and effective driving force for promoting sustainable urbanization. Under the background of rapid urbanization, strengthening the research on the response and dynamic mechanism of ecosystem services to land use is conducive to the optimization of land space and ecological restoration and governance in megacities. Using Hefei City as a case study, we examined specific ecosystem services and analyzed how water yield, habitat quality, carbon storage, and soil conservation changed over time from 2000 to 2020. We utilized spatial information technology and the InVEST model to assess these changes. Additionally, we developed a comprehensive ecological service index (CES) and used Geodetector and regression models to investigate how ecosystem services responded to land use. In addition, we utilized the Patch-generating Land Use Simulation Model (PLUS) to simulate the spatial distribution of land use in 2030. This was performed under four different scenarios: natural development (ND), urban development (UD), cultivated land protection (CP), and ecological protection (EP). Furthermore, we assessed the effects of these land-use changes on ecosystem service functions by integrating the PLUS results with InVEST. The findings indicate the following: (1) between 2000 and 2020, farmland consistently remained the dominant land-use type in Hefei City while construction land experienced significant growth. Land-use conversion was prevalent during this period, and each ecological indicator exhibited noticeable geographic variation; (2) during the past 20 years, the comprehensive ecosystem service index (CES) exhibited clear spatial clustering patterns. The different types of land use showed significant quantitative relationships with CES. Specifically, cultivated land, forest land, grassland, and water area had positive correlations, while construction land had a negative correlation. Geodetector analysis revealed that the proportion of ecological land use had the greatest impact on the spatial differentiation of CES, followed by population density; (3) according to the PLUS simulation, the UD scenario results in a significant conversion of cultivated land and grassland into construction land, leading to the greatest decrease in CES. In the ND scenario, the areas with decreasing CES are mostly areas that have been converted from other land types to construction land. In contrast, the EP scenario shows an increase in forest land and grassland, which promotes the enhancement of multiple ecosystem service functions simultaneously. This indicates that the EP scenario is the most favorable for sustainable land-use development. Habitat quality is an important basis for human well-being and the achievement of sustainable development. Based on land-use data for the Bosten Lake Basin in 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2022, the PLUS and InVEST models are applied in this study to predict and analyze land-use changes and explore the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of the region's habitat quality. Additionally, we use a geographic detector model to reveal the drivers of spatial variation in habitat quality. The results show that: (1) Land use in Bosten Lake Basin is dominated by grassland and bare land, with an area share of 93.21%. Habitat quality shows a trend of degradation followed by improvement, with a spatial pattern of high in the northwest and low in the southeast. (2) Habitat quality in 2030 increased from 2022 in all cases, with a mean of 0.354 for the natural development scenario, a maximum of 0.355 for the ecological development scenario, and a minimum of 0.353 for the economic development scenario. (3) The main drivers affecting habitat quality in the Bosten Lake watershed are DEM, mean annual precipitation (MAP), and GDP per capita. Nanling Mountain region is a typical southern hilly region, which plays an important ecological and environmental protection role in China's overall land protection pattern. Based on the remote sensing image data of Longnan City in Nanling Mountain region in 2013, 2018 and 2023, this paper interpreted the land use type and analyzed the land use transfer situation by using land use transfer flow, and a land use transfer matrix. At the same time, based on the remote sensing ecological index (RSEI) model, the ecological environmental quality of Longnan City from 2013 to 2023 was retrieved. The temporal and spatial response model of the ecological environmental quality to land use transfer in Longnan City from 2013 to 2023 was discussed based on spatial autocorrelation and a geographical detector. The results show that from 2013 to 2023, the decrease of forest land (16.23 km2) and the increase of construction land (13.25 km2) were the main land use transfers in Longnan City. The ecological environment indexes of Longnan City in 2013, 2018 and 2023 were 0.789, 0.917 and 0.872, respectively, showing a trend of "first rising and then decreasing". The ecological environmental quality in the north of Longnan City was significantly lower than that in the south, and the poor ecological quality area appeared in and around the northern main urban area, showing a trend of "inward contraction". Forest land, garden land, grassland, cultivated land and water area have a positive impact on ecological environmental quality, while traffic land, construction land and other land have a negative impact on ecological environmental quality. The response of ecological environmental quality to different land use transfer modes is related to the change of the overall ecological environmental quality. Clarifying the spatiotemporal distribution and influencing factors of mosque architecture in China's Hehuang region has significant positive implications for the overall protection and development of the region's architectural cultural heritage. This study utilizes field surveys and acquires POI data of traditional mosques built before 1993 in the region to analyze the distribution characteristics of mosques, aiming to explore future development trends of these religious structures. It also investigates the influencing factors, with the goal of emphasizing the primary and secondary factors affecting mosque distribution. The study finds the following: (1) Mosques are generally centered around the Huangshui Valley, displaying a "central clustering, peripheral dispersal" distribution pattern, forming a spatial structure of "two cores, one belt, multiple points", with distinct differentiation and overall uneven distribution. (2) Mosques are primarily situated at elevations between 2147 and 2764 m; on slopes less than 15°, in sunny and gentle slopes; within 20 km from rivers; within 14 km from roads; in areas receiving 400–500 mm annual rainfall; and within temperature ranges of 5.54–10.22 °C. (3) The study also finds that the spatial distribution of mosques is profoundly influenced by both natural geographical factors and human environmental factors. The better the natural location, the larger and denser the population, the richer the cultural resources, the higher the level of economic development, and the greater the concentration of Hui people, the more numerous and concentrated the mosques. (4) Population factors are the dominant factors for the clustered distribution of traditional mosques in the Hehuang area. Since the construction of mosques in the region is closely related to the number of Hui people and the proportion of Muslim adherents, areas with a high concentration of mosques also have relatively larger populations of Hui people. Temperature, precipitation, altitude, rivers, and roads are foundational factors for traditional mosques in the Hehuang area, influencing mosque distribution as external factors. Rapid urbanisation has generated numerous environmental consequences, particularly regarding open space fragmentation. Open space fragmentation is the transformation of open space from a state of homogeneity, integration, and continuity to a state of heterogeneity, division, and incoherence. Nevertheless, one main obstacle to understanding this issue is how to address the spatial heterogeneity of the impact of urbanisation on open space fragmentation. Thus, this paper provides a comprehensive framework for the mechanistic associations between open space fragmentation and urbanisation in Hong Kong's built-up area. The results illustrate that both open space fragmentation index and urbanisation index values are noticeably higher in dense urban areas. Land urbanisation, represented by the percentage of construction land in total land, has the highest explanatory power for spatial differentiation in open space fragmentation, followed by social and population urbanisation factors. Furthermore, the relational interrelations of open space fragmentation drivers are the bivariate and nonlinear enhancement interactions. Social urbanisation and land urbanisation have the strongest bivariate enhancement interaction for the use fragmentation form and the largest nonlinear enhancement interaction for the internal fragmentation form. Based on initial urban planning, open space fragmentation is an adaptation outcome of population, land, and social urbanisation factors, and this self-organisation phenomenon has been further emphasised in the historical process. Exploring the characteristics of vegetation dynamics and quantitatively analyzing the potential drivers and the strength of their interactions are of great significance to regional ecological environmental protection and sustainable development. Therefore, based on the 2000–2022 MODIS NDVI dataset, supplemented by climatic, topographic, surface cover, and anthropogenic data for the same period, the Sen+Mann–Kendall trend analysis, coefficient of variation, and Hurst exponent were employed to examine the spatial and temporal characteristics and trends of NDVI in Hubei Province, and a partial correlation analysis and geographical detector were used to explore the strength of the influence of driving factors on the spatial differentiation of NDVI in vegetation and the underlying mechanisms of interaction. The results showed that (1) the mean NDVI value of vegetation in Hubei Province was 0.762 over 23 years, with an overall increasing trend and fluctuating upward at a rate of 0.01/10a (p < 0.005); geospatially, there is a pattern of "low east and high west"; the spatial change in NDVI shows a trend of "large-scale improvement in the surrounding hills and mountains and small-scale degradation in the middle plains"; it also presents the spatial fluctuation characteristics of "uniform distribution in general, an obvious difference between urban and rural areas, and a high fluctuation of rivers and reservoirs", (2) the future trend of NDVI in 70.76% of the region in Hubei Province is likely to maintain the same trend as that of the 2000–2022 period, with 70.78% of the future development being benign and dominated by sustained improvement, and (3) a combination of partial correlation analysis and geographical detector analysis of the drivers of vegetation NDVI change shows that land cover type and soil type are the main drivers; the interactions affecting the distribution and change characteristics of NDVI vegetation all showed two-factor enhancement or nonlinear enhancement relationships. It is necessary to further investigate the spatial considerations, temporal characteristics, and drivers of change affecting the beginning and end of soil freezing and thawing, including the maximum depth of the seasonal freezing (MDSF) and the active layer thickness (ALT) in Northeast China. Hourly soil temperature, among other data, from 1983–2022 were investigated, showing a delay of about 6 days in freezing. In contrast, thawing and complete thawing advanced by about 26 and 20 d, respectively. The freezing period and total freeze-thaw days decreased by about 29 and 23 days, respectively. The number of complete thawing period days increased by about 22 days, while the MDSF decreased by about 25 cm. The ALT increased by about 22 cm. Land Surface Temperature (LST) is the main factor influencing the beginning and end of soil freezing and thawing, MDSF and ALT changes in Northeast China; air temperature, surface net solar radiation, and volumetric soil water content followed. The influence of the interacting factors was greater than the single factors, and the interactive explanatory power of the LST and surface net solar radiation was highest when the soil started to freeze (0.858). The effect of the LST and the air temperature was highest when the soil was completely thawed (0.795). LST and the volumetric soil water content interacted to have the first explanatory power for MDSF (0.866) and ALT (0.85). The results of this study can provide scientific reference for fields such as permafrost degradation, cold zone ecological environments, and agricultural production in Northeast China. As a new concept for systematically evaluating ecosystem services, Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP) provides an effective means to comprehensively reveal the overall status of the ecosystem, the impact of economic activities on the ecological environment, and the effectiveness of ecological protection efforts. GEP accounting has been conducted in various regions; however, GEP's application in natural reserves still requires further exploration. Taking the Qinling Mountains as the research area, this paper aims to assess the relationship between GEP and economic development on the basis of the GEP accounting system. The results indicated that: (1) From 2010 to 2020, GEP tended to increase continuously and exhibited a distribution pattern with high value regions in the east and west, and low value regions in the north and south. (2) Over the years, the coupling coordination degree between GEP and GDP was in a consistent upward trend. In 2020, a good coupling coordination state between GEP and GDP was achieved in most districts and counties. (3) With the relative development between GEP and GDP, the social economy of most districts and counties lagged behind GEP in 2010. The number of districts and counties lagging in GEP in 2020 increased, while the number of regions with a balanced development of GEP and GDP was still relatively discouraging. (4) In general, elevation, contagion, temperature, population density, and precipitation were the main drivers of coupling coordination degree between GEP and GDP. If the relationship between economic development and ecological environmental protection can be reasonably balanced, it will further promote the sustainable development of nature reserves, and provide a scientific basis for sustainable policy-making in other similar areas. Global warming and extreme climate events (ECEs) have grown more frequent, and it is essential to investigate the influences of ECEs on vegetation in the Yellow River Basin (YRB) and other environmentally fragile areas. This study was based on data from 86 meteorological stations in the YRB for the period 2000–2020. Twenty-five extreme climate indices (ECIs) were chosen, encompassing four dimensions: extreme value, intensity, duration, and frequency. The trend analysis approach was used to examine the spatiotemporal characteristics of extreme climate conditions. Additionally, geographical detectors and Pearson correlation analysis methods were employed to quantitatively assess the influence of ECEs on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The Multiscale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) method was adopted to analyze the regression of twenty-five ECIs. The findings revealed the following: (1) Over the last 21 years, there has been a distinct rise in both the extreme precipitation indices (EPIs) and the extreme temperature indices (ETIs). (2) The spatial distribution of the NDVI throughout the year displayed the characteristic of being high in the south and low in the north. The annual NDVI demonstrated a noteworthy increase at a rate of 0.055/decade, with the enhancement encompassing an extensive area of 87.33%. (3) The investigation revealed that EPIs, including PRCPTOT, R10mm, CWD, R95p, and CDD, had explanatory values surpassing 0.4. This implied that the intensity, frequency, and duration of extreme precipitation played pivotal roles in steering vegetation alterations in the YRB. (4) The correlation between the EPIs and vegetation was greater than the ETIs. Grassland meadows exhibited greater sensitivity to precipitation than woody plants. The EPIs (excluding CDD and SDII) and the ETIs (TXn) displayed a substantial positive correlation with the NDVI in regions hosting grasslands, broadleaf forests, and shrubs. Desert vegetation and cultivated plants were less affected by ECEs. This study underscores the importance of the interplay between extreme climate and vegetation in the YRB. Land use multifunctionality research is important for the efficient use of land resources and the resolution of land use conflicts. With the use of methods such as the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) model, coupling coordination model, and geographical detector, the land use multifunctionality level, spatiotemporal coupling, and influencing factors in the Sichuan Province of China from 2000 to 2020 were systematically analyzed in this paper. It was revealed that, from 2000 to 2020, the comprehensive land use functionality in Sichuan Province was continuously improved with increasing economic, social, and ecological functionality levels. The comprehensive land use functionality in each city (prefecture) exhibited a positive development trend. The coupling coordination degree of the land use multifunctionality in Sichuan Province has been continuously improved, undergoing an evolutionary process from the brink of disarray to barely coordinated, then to primary coordination, and finally to medium coordination. The spatial differentiation of land use multifunctionality coupling coordination among cities (prefectures) was notable, showing center–periphery spatial distribution characteristics. The average slope and employed population density exhibited the highest explanatory power for the spatial differences in land use multifunctionality coupling coordination. The interaction between any two factors exerted a greater impact than any single factor on the spatial differentiation of land use multifunctionality coupling coordination. Soil conservation (SC) plays a vital role in preventing soil erosion and ensuring ecological security. While current research on SC primarily focuses on historical spatiotemporal variations, there remains a dearth of sufficient simulation research exploring future development scenarios. In this study, simulations were applied to the source of Yellow River (SYR), a representative ecologically fragile area. Satellite remote sensing and product data, including precipitation, soil, land use/cover, DEM, and SPOT/VEGETATION NDVI, were utilized. The historical and future evolutionary trends of SC in the SYR were quantitatively assessed using the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) and trend analysis method, and the geographical detector was employed to explore the forces driving spatial differentiations in SC. The results demonstrated that: (1) 2000–2020, the spatial heterogeneity of SC in the SYR was characterized by the distribution of "gradually decreasing from Southeast to Northwest", demonstrated a trend of "increasing, decreasing, and then increasing". (2) Under the diverse development scenarios, the trend of SC change in the SYR was predominantly rising, and the natural change scenario (NCS) > ecological conservation scenario (ECS) > economic expansion scenario (EES). (3) Slope was the most important single driver affecting the spatiotemporal differentiation of SC, and the interaction of slope with average annual precipitation, and NDVI on the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of SC had the strongest explanatory ability. The evaluation of water resources management performance (WRMP) can provide guidance for water resources management. This paper constructs a scientific WRMP evaluation index system based on "water resources–water environment–water ecology". Secondly, the game variable weight matter–element extension model is appropriately introduced to dynamically evaluate the WRMP level of the provinces (cities) in the YREB from 2012 to 2021, and Arcgis is used to analyze the spatial and temporal variations in the performance level of each sub-system. Lastly, a geographical detector model is used to explore the main factors influencing the WRMP in the Yangtze River Economic Balt (YREB). The main findings are as follows: (1) The overall provincial WRMP level in the YREB has been improving from 2012 to 2021, and the performance of water resource utilization (WRU) and water environment treatment (WET) are high in the east and low in the west, while the performance of water ecological protection (WEP) shows a trend of continuous improvement. (2) Compared with the model without variable weight modification, the game variable weight matter–element extension model can reflect the influence of the measured value of the index on the evaluation result as much as possible. (3) The top eight factors that have a greater impact on the WRMP level are the industrial water conservation rate, water resource development and utilization rate, water resource sustainability index, sewage diameter ratio, urban water penetration rate, industrial wastewater treatment completion rate, ecological construction and protection of the year to complete the investment in GDP, and the water ecological carrying capacity growth rate. The anthropogenic disturbance caused by irrational urbanization impacts the ecological security of cities. The study of the relationship between urban spatial form (USF) and urban ecological resilience (UER) can offer guidance for sustainable urban development. We select the UER evaluation indexes and construct a DRSIR model based on the causal relationship among the natural, social, and economic dimensions of cities. We also carried out empirical research on the impact of USF on UER in the city cluster located in the Yangtze River midstream (YRM) through the geographical and temporal weighted regression (GTWR) model and geographical detector for four time cross-sections: 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020. The following findings were obtained: (1) The computing results for UERIs of cities in the YRM noticeably and consistently increased during the study period, exhibiting a spatial distribution pattern with high values in the southeast, second-highest in the northwest, and low values in the center. (2) The regression coefficients of USFIs and UERIs displayed significant spatial and temporal variations in the YRM during the study period. (3) CA, AWMPFD, PD, and AI showed a positive correlation with UERIs, while PD exhibited a negative correlation with UERIs. (4) LPI and AI emerged as the primary drivers of spatial heterogeneity in UERIs, and the interaction between these two factors significantly enhanced their impact on UERIs compared to individual influencing factors. Exploring the correlation between UER and USF can be utilized to provide urban management recommendations that are suitable for the level of urban development, which will contribute to the achievement of sustainable development in the YRM. Vegetation greenness change is the result of the combination of natural and anthropogenic factors. Understanding how these factors individually and collectively affect vegetation dynamics and whether their spatial heterogeneity has any effect on vegetation greenness change is the crucial investigation area. Previous studies revealed the distinct characteristics of spatial and temporal heterogeneity in the impact factors influencing vegetation greenness change across various regions, often assuming a linear contribution mechanism between vegetation greenness change and these drivers. However, such a simplistic assumption fails to adequately capture the real-world dynamics of vegetation greenness change. Thus, this study firstly used geographical detector (Geodetector) to quantitatively measure the contribution of each factor to vegetation greenness change considering spatial heterogeneity in the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) during the growing season from 2000 to 2020, then selecting significant factors from numerous drivers with the recursive feature elimination algorithm combined with a random forest model (RFE-RF), which is able to reduce redundant features in the data and prevent overfitting. Finally, four stable impact factors and the spatial heterogeneity of some factors contributing to vegetation greenness change were identified. The results show that approximately 83% of the regional vegetation has shown an overall increasing trend, while areas undergoing rapid development predominantly experienced a decline in greenness. Single factor screened by Geodetector with the explanatory power greater than 10% for vegetation greenness change included temperature (Tem), population density (PD), the land-use/land-cover (LULC), DEM, wind speed, and slope. The RFE-RF method identified precipitation (Pre) and CO2 emissions as additional influential factors for vegetation greenness change, in addition to the first four factors mentioned previously. These findings suggest that the four stable factors consistently influence vegetation greenness change. Combined with the principles of the algorithms and the above results, it was found that the spatial heterogeneity of wind speed and slope has an effect on vegetation greenness change, whereas the spatial heterogeneity of Pre and CO2 emissions has minimal effect. With the rapid advancement of global technology, high-tech industries have become key drivers for the economic growth of many nations and regions. This study delves into the spatiotemporal dynamics and determinants influencing China's high-tech sector from 2007 to 2021. The key findings include the following: (1) Nationally, the high-tech sector has been a cornerstone for China's GDP growth over the preceding 15 years. The expansion rate of the high-tech domain consistently outpaces the broader economy. In particular, since 2015, the percentage of high-tech industries' GDP has surged to approximately 42%. (2) At the provincial level, the spatial representation of the high-tech sector's GDP predominantly leans towards the east and the south, revealing pronounced spatial autocorrelation. Nevertheless, the demarcations between east and west and between north and south are progressively diminishing. (3) Regarding influential determinants, R&D internal expenditure, operating revenue, and industry agglomeration have been instrumental in spearheading innovation and bolstering growth within the high-tech realm. The Southwest Alpine Canyon Area (SACA), a well-known ecological vulnerability region, plays a very important role in China. Identifying the driving force of the spatial heterogeneity of vegetation and the response of interannual vegetation changes to climate change and human activities would be helpful for ecosystem management. Based on the NDVI dataset, the study analyzed the trend of NDVI change from 2000 to 2019 using the Theil–Sen trend analysis and the Mann–Kendal significance test, detected the driving forces of the spatial heterogeneity of NDVI by the means of the geographical detector, and analyzed the relative contribution of climate change and human activities to interannual NDVI changes using residual analysis model. The results showed that, in terms of the spatial distribution, the pattern of NDVI showed that it is higher in the southeast and lower in the northwest region of the SACA. Elevation was the dominant factor influencing the spatial heterogeneity of NDVI, with the explanatory power of 64%, much larger than other factors, and vegetation type, temperature, precipitation, land use type, and soil type were the main factors. In addition, the explanatory power of the dual factor interaction was higher than that of the single factor effect, which showed two kinds of interaction relationships: bivariate enhancement and nonlinear enhancement. In terms of the temporal variation, 85.59% of the study area showed an increasing trend, and only 14.41% of the area showed a decreasing trend. The main factor affecting NDVI changes was human activities, and climate change was the secondary factor, with relative contributions of 71.35% and 28.65%, respectively. The study will promote a better understanding of the complex mechanisms of vegetation changes and provide scientific recommendations for the prevention of vegetation degradation and vegetation restoration in the SACA. Under the combined impact of climatic, socioeconomic, and environmental factors, the vegetation NPP change process and its responses to drive factors in the sub-regions of Mainland China are not clear. This study analyzes the changing pattern of vegetation NPP in China from 2000 to 2022 from the perspective of zoning and clarifies its response mechanism to climate-human interaction based on the gravity center model, third-order partial correlation coefficient and geographical detector. The results showed that: (1) There was an overall decreasing trend of vegetation NPP in China from the southeast to the northwest; (2) The vegetation NPP gravity center in Northeast, Northwest, and North China migrated southwards, while that of Southwest, Central South, and East China showed northward migration.;(3) Human activities played a dominant role in zones with increasing vegetation NPP from 2000 to 2010, while climate change greatly contributed to the increase in vegetation NPP during 2011–2022; (4) Human activities, such as deforestation and overgrazing, in Northeast and North China should be reduced to prevent vegetation ecosystem degradation, and the negative impact of human activities should be reduced to maintain the growth of vegetation NPP. In the 21st century's global push for sustainable development, strategies for new urbanization and rural revitalization in China have transitioned from traditional geographic expansion to a focus on high-quality integration across ecological, social, and economic dimensions. Employing advanced methods such as the entropy weight TOPSIS, coupling coordination model, kernel density estimation, Markov chain, and geographic detector, this study comprehensively explores the spatiotemporal dynamics and driving mechanisms of urban–rural integration in China from 2001 to 2022. Key findings reveal increasing coupling coordination degrees in each province, with significant spatial variations. Notably, during the 15th Five-Year Plan, all regions, including eastern, central, and western areas, exhibited low-level coupling coordination. However, a decreasing ladder-like distribution emerged during the 13th and 14th Five-Year Plans, forming a development pattern centered on eastern coastal regions and spreading inland. The central regions experienced significant changes in development kernel density, while the national eastern and western regions remained relatively stable. Looking ahead, highly coupled regions are expected to maintain leadership, positively influencing neighboring areas and propelling overall urban–rural development towards sustainable goals. Conversely, low-level coupled regions require deeper reforms for leap-frog development. The core driving forces behind spatiotemporal differences in coupling coordination degrees involve innovation within the environment, government capabilities, openness to the outside world, and population agglomeration. Secondary roles are played by factors like non-agricultural industrialization, per capita GDP, government investment, and market conditions, while education, healthcare, transportation, and natural resource levels act as bridges in spatiotemporal differentiation. Foreign trade is an important part of the national economy. Promoting the development of foreign trade can regulate the optimal allocation of resources, raise the level of domestic productivity, and accelerate economic development. As a traditional inland agricultural province, Henan Province has inherent disadvantages in developing foreign trade due to its geographical location. However, it has characteristic advantages in terms of population and transportation, so it is necessary to study the pattern of foreign trade and the factors affecting it in this region. In this research study, statistical data were assessed with methods such as the foreign trade dependence, geographical detector, and gravity models to analyze the trade scale, pattern, spatio-temporal variation characteristics, and foreign trade mechanisms in Henan Province. The results show that the trade pattern of Henan Province from 2002 to 2021 has evident spatial and temporal heterogeneity, with a relatively homogeneous overall commodity structure, weak competitive advantages, and a high degree of dependence on US trade. Innovation and transportation are essential internal factors, while the external factors are positively affected by the GDP of both Henan Province and the trading countries, FTAs, trade openness, and the population in the long run and are negatively impacted by distance. This study provides suggestions and decision support for formulating foreign trade policies for Henan Province. Recent research has revealed that the dynamics of autumn phenology play a decisive role in the inter-annual changes in the carbon cycle. However, to date, the shifts in autumn phenology (EGS) and the elements that govern it have not garnered unanimous acknowledgment. This paper focuses on the Yellow River Basin (YRB) ecosystem and systematically analyzes the dynamic characteristics of EGS and its multiple controls across the entire region and biomes from 1982 to 2015 based on the long-term GIMMS NDVI3g dataset. The results demonstrated that a trend toward a significant delay in EGS (p < 0.05) was detected and this delay was consistently observed across all biomes. By using the geographical detector model, the association between EGS and several main driving factors was quantified. The spring phenology (SGS) had the largest explanatory power among the interannual variations of EGS across the YRB, followed by preseason temperature. For different vegetation types, SGS and preseason precipitation were the dominant driving factors for the EGS in woody plants and grasslands, respectively, whereas the explanatory power for each driving factor on cultivated land was very weak. Furthermore, the EGS was controlled by drought at different timescales and the dominant timescales were concentrated in 1–3 accumulated months. Grasslands were more significantly influenced by drought than woody plants at the biome level. These findings validate the significance of SGS on the EGS in the YRB as well as highlight that both drought and SGS should be considered in autumn fall phenology models for improving the prediction accuracy under future climate change scenarios. The distribution pattern of high-level tourist attractions is crucial for the sustainable development of the tourism industry. However, few studies have explored the spatial distribution and dominant influencing factors of tourist attractions of different levels from a macro perspective in China. This study, which was based on large-scale multi-source data, involved the use of kernel density analysis, local spatial autocorrelation, and geographical detector analysis to explore the spatial distribution, spatial correlation, and dominant influencing factors of high-level tourist attractions in China. The study's results show that the spatial distribution of tourist attractions of different levels is polarized and regionally clustered, and there exist some spatial correlation effects among attractions of the same level. Additionally, different influencing factors play a different role in determining the spatial distribution of attractions of different levels. Based on market demand and tourism resources, it is necessary to regulate attractions of different levels to promote the sustainable development of high-level tourist attractions and provide a reference for the development of China's tourism industry. Architectural heritage refers to buildings, complexes, and sites with historical, cultural, artistic, technological, and geographical values, including ancient buildings, historical buildings, places of interest, dwellings, and industrial sites. China's 20th-Century Architectural Heritage List is a state-level list that includes architecture of historical, cultural, technological, and artistic value in China in the 20th century. It is the carrier of the past century and the monument to witnessing the change in human knowledge, culture, technology, and even art. This list is from China, a country with a vast land area, a densely populated population, and numerous architectural relics. This study used ArcGIS to analyze 597 cases in 6 batches in China's 20th-Century Architectural Heritage List. Its spatial structure was studied by calculating the nearest neighbor index, Gini coefficient, imbalance index, and kernel density. The results showed that the distribution of the Chinese modern architectural heritage resources is cohesive and uneven in China. Next, the geographical detector model was used to analyze its influencing factors from the perspective of 12 factors. This study found that the spatial distribution of this type of resource was condensed. The provincial level showed a distribution pattern of seven centers with one core and multiple scattered points. Its distribution in 34 administrative regions is extremely uneven, with 57.29% being located in North and East China. It also focused on analyzing five influencing factors, namely, topography, regional status, culture and education, social and economic development level, and external contact. Exploring its spatial structure and influencing factors will not only enable a comprehensive understanding of the development context and current situation of 20th-century architectural heritage, but also provide a reference for its protection and sustainable use. Flash floods are among the deadliest hazards in China and have led to substantial casualties and losses, especially on Hainan Island. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore the main driving force behind them. Nevertheless, research on the driving force of flash floods is limited here. This study explores the driving force of flash floods on Hainan Island from 14 factors involving three categories: natural, social, and rainfall factors. Two quantitative methods, like the Mann–Kendall test and the geographical detector method, are applied. The Mann–Kendall test is usually used for time series trend analysis and is introduced to divide the flash flood periods into D95 (years from 1980 to 1995) and D14 (years from 1996 to 2014) through the results of reported flash flood trend analysis. The geographical detector is applied to analyze the driving force of flash floods. There are several key findings from this study that help better understand the driving force about flash floods. Firstly, the results show that the main driving forces of flash floods are natural factors like Elevation and Soil in both periods, and they are on the rise. Secondly, the influence of short-term heavy rainfall on flash floods is becoming more and more serious. A watershed ecosystem is a compound ecosystem composed of land and rivers, and its health is closely related to the sustainable development of the region it is located in. The Yihe River Basin (YRB) in central China's Henan province, which is located in the north–south transition zone and has a mountain–hill–plain landscape from the upstream to the downstream, is adopted as the research area in this study. A watershed ecosystem health assessment system is constructed based on an ecosystem vigor–organization–resilience–service supply and demand harmony (EVORSH) framework and utilized to assess the ecosystem health in the YRB by taking a 3 km × 3 km grid as the evaluation unit. Thirteen factors are selected from natural and human social factors, and from them, the factors that influence watershed ecosystem health through the generation of spatial heterogeneity are identified using the geographical detector model. The following findings are obtained. (1) The mean value of ecosystem health levels in the YRB is 0.65 and at the good level. The ecosystem health has considerable spatial heterogeneity. The areas with high–high concentration are distributed in the mountains in the upper reaches of the YRB, and the areas with low–low concentration are mainly distributed in the plain areas in the middle reaches of the YRB. (2) The geographical detector result shows that 9 of 13 factors have a considerable impact on the spatial distribution of the YRB's ecosystem health. The interaction between two factors is enhanced synergically. The decisive power of population density, rainfall, and potential evapotranspiration are more than 0.5, so these three are the main factors that influence the distribution of ecosystem health in the YRB. (3) The EVORSH framework is suitable for the measurement of ecosystem health in the YRB. The evaluation result is consistent with the actual situation in the YRB. A 3 km × 3 km grid is used as the basic research unit, and it can more accurately and scientifically express the spatial heterogeneity of ecosystem health in the YRB compared with the macro evaluation unit. This study can provide a scientific basis for ecological protection and high-quality development planning in the YRB. By integrating multi-dimensional data and methods, the EVORSH framework proposed in this study can quickly and scientifically assess the status of ecosystem health, identify the influencing factors of spatial heterogeneity, and could be applied in other similar watersheds. The core areas of the urban heat island (CAUHI) are the most concentrated and closely associated with humans, and they are key to managing the urban heat island (UHI). It is widely acknowledged that one of the best ways to reduce the risk of UHI is the creation of urban green spaces (UGSs). However, most of the current studies are based on the grid or block scale to explore the impact of UGS on UHI. The key to mitigating the urban heat environment is to plan urban UGS rationally in the CAUHI and explore the thermal environmental benefits of UGS. This paper provides an assessment model for the thermal environmental advantages of UGS and uses ten UGS metrics as explanatory factors for seasonal land surface temperature (LST). It quantitatively evaluates the potential differences in landscape characteristics between LST and UGS under different seasons, as well as the seasonal impact on CAUHI. This study found the following: (1) The overall distribution pattern of CAUHI shows a characteristic of spreading from the central part to the surrounding area. Most of the extremely significant CAUHI is dispersed in the center and southeastern regions of the city, where there is a much greater density of impermeable surfaces and essentially no distribution of CAUHI on the natural surface represented by forest land and water bodies. (2) Except for the aggregation index (AI), correlation analysis revealed that other metrics were highly connected with LST. Among the metrics used in this study, the largest patch index (LPI) and landscape division index (DIVISION) had the highest significant correlation with LST. Patch density (PD) was strongly negatively correlated with LST, indicating that fragmented and complex UGS patches could promote vegetation cooling. (3) The green environmental benefit index (GEBI) results showed a significant degree of spatial and temporal variability in the extracted CAUHI. This study found higher GEBI values in the larger thermal patches and lower GEBI in the surrounding smaller patches. The highest mean GEBI was found in winter, at 0.6083, and the largest distribution of large high-value patches. This study revealed the geographical and temporal variability of UGS and CAUHI, and with the help of the constructed scientific evaluation model, it offered suggestions for the optimization of urban greenery. Desertification is one of the most critical environmental and socioeconomic issues in the world today. Located in the transitional region between the desert and the Loess Plateau, the Mu Us Sandy Land is one of the nine most environmentally sensitive areas in the world. Remote sensing provides an effective technical method for desertification monitoring. In order to analyze the spatiotemporal distribution of desertification in the Mu Us Sandy Land from 1991 to 2021, the "MSAVI-Albedo" model was employed to extract desertification data in 1991, 2002, 2009 and 2021. The clustering characteristics of desertification were analyzed based on Moran's I statistic. Subsequently, the driving forces in desertification changes were investigated using a geographical detector to analyze the influence of soil, meteorology, and topography on desertification. Additionally, the impact of meteorological and human factors on desertification change in the Mu Us Sandy Land was assessed. From 1991 to 2021, the degree of desertification of the Mu Us Sandy Land showed an overall decreasing trend, and the percentage of land classified as undergoing extremely severe, severe, moderate and mild desertification was improved by 86.11%, 81.82%, 52.5% and 37.42%, respectively. The proportion of land classified as undergoing extremely severe desertification decreased from 29.22% to 5.62%, and the proportion of land undergoing no desertification increased from 4.16% to 18.33%. At the same time, the desertification center shifted westward, and the desertification distribution showed a clustering trend. It is known that different factors affect the formation and distribution of desertification in the Mu Us Sandy Land in the following order: soil, meteorology, and topography. Over the past 30 years, the mean annual temperature and annual precipitation increased at rates of 0.01871 °C/a and 1.0374 mm/a, respectively, while the mean annual wind speed decreased at a rate of 0.00945 m/s·a. These changes provided more favorable natural conditions for vegetation growth and sand fixation. Human factors, such as economic development, agriculture and animal husbandry practices, and the policy of returning farmland to forest (grassland) also had a significant impact on the desertification process, leading to a year-by-year improvement in the ecological environment of the Mu Us Sandy Land. Various forms of agricultural subsidy policies often have a significant impact on the development of the agricultural economy and also shape the differentiated spatial pattern of regional agricultural economic resilience, while research on the evolution process of agricultural economic resilience and its influencing mechanisms is still very scarce. This study is based on the impact of China's cancellation of the temporary corn storage policy on corn prices in 2016. By using an economic resilience analysis framework, we selected the indicators of total agricultural output value and disposable income of farmers to measure the agricultural economic resilience of various cities in Jilin Province and analyzed the characteristics and causes of the spatio-temporal change in agricultural economic resilience in Jilin Province from 2008 to 2021. The results show the following: (1) The transition from price and subsidy integration policy to decoupled subsidy policy helps to shape stronger regional agricultural economic resilience, but due to factors such as farmer policy dependence, low international corn prices, severe oversupply in the domestic corn market, and the suddenness of policy changes, there was a short-term decline in agricultural economic resilience in Jilin Province in the early stage of the decoupled subsidy policy (2016–2017), which rapidly increased after 2017. (2) The agricultural economic resilience levels of cities in Jilin Province showed different spatial differentiation characteristics at different stages within the study period, and the central region, as an important corn production area in Jilin Province, had significant changes in agricultural economic resilience. (3) During the execution of the price and subsidy integration policy, the enhancement of agricultural input capacity and agricultural output capacity helped to improve regional agricultural economic resilience; during the execution of the decoupled subsidy policy, the government's support for agriculture and the potential of rural markets had a significant impact on the improvement of agricultural economic resilience. As China's urbanization has shifted from high-speed to high-quality development, Urban Land Use Efficiency (ULUE) has become an important scale for evaluating urban connotative development. However, existing research has paid less attention to errors caused by different urban environmental factors and random disturbances in ULUE. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to eliminate the impact of environmental factors and random disturbances on ULUE measurement results by placing different cities under the same environmental conditions. First, a three-stage DEA envelopment analysis (T-DEA) model is introduced to calculate the ULUE of 16 prefecture-level cities in Anhui Province from 2001 to 2020. On this basis, the kernel density estimation model, gravity center model, and geographic detector models are used to study the spatial and temporal evolution and driving factors. The results show that (1) the ULUE increases nonlinearly with time, with an increase of 12.74%; (2) the overall peak of ULUE is on the rise, and changes from a single peak to a multi-peak, indicating that ULUE is constantly improving and that there is multi-level differentiation between different cities; (3) during the study period, the center of gravity of the ULUE value moved 22.66 km to the northwest; the overall moving distance was small, and the moving rate was slow; and (4) the influence of the interaction of double driving factors on ULUE is significantly greater than that of a single driving factor, and the factors of urban built-up area and degree of openness, as the key driving factors affecting ULUE, also have a degree of duality. In addition, to achieve efficient urban land use and to coordinate the environmental differences faced by different cities, the government must formulate systematic policies and development strategies considering the spatial characteristics of urban land use efficiency and the complexity of the driving factors. Nonferrous metal smelting is a potential emission source of trace elements. However, it is vital to identify the dominant factors in determining toxic element (TE) spatial distribution and migration behaviors. We hypothesize that soil clay is the key factor in agricultural land around nonferrous metal smelting areas. Hence, this study focused on Qingyuan Town, a typical nonferrous metal smelting base. From this site, 95 soil samples (0–20 cm) were collected from cultivated land around the nonferrous metal smelters. Eight soil samples were analyzed for TE speciation and clay minerals in hot spot and non-hot spot areas following the TE distribution. A geographical detector (Geodor) showed that the distributions of total and exchangeable TE were affected by multiple factors (clay, CaO, and Fe2O3). X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed that the clay was mainly comprised of an illite and smectite mixed layer (67.13%), illite (15.38%), chlorite (9.25%), and kaolinite (8.25%). Moreover, correlation analysis showed that the exchangeable As was positively correlated with illite (R2 = 0.76, at p < 0.01 level), kaolinite (R2 = 0.43, at p < 0.01 level), and chlorite (R2 = 0.59, at p < 0.01 level) in the hot spot, but negatively correlated with a mixed layer of illite and smectite (R2 = 0.83, at p < 0.01 level). In contrast, the cases of Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn presented an opposite tread with As. The positive matrix factorization (PMF) results showed that the contribution rate of nonferrous metal smelting to soil As was 42.90% and those of Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn were 84.90%, 56.40%, 59.90%, and 59.20%, respectively. The continuous deterioration of terrestrial ecosystems has led to the destruction of many biological habitats in recent years. The Tumen River cross-border basin, an important biological habitat, is also affected by this changing situation. Assessing habitat quality (HQ) is crucial for restoring and protecting habitats, and vegetation plays a significant role in this process. In this study, we used geographical detector (GD) to extract fraction vegetation coverage (FVC) features and quantify the contribution of driving factors. By coupling vegetation cover and land use data, we assessed HQ. Our findings reveal a declining trend in FVC from 2000 to 2020, which mainly assumed a spatial pattern inclined from northeast and southwest to southeast. Human activities and natural factors interacted to cause these changes in FVC, with human activities having a more significant impact. Vegetation and land use changes led to a decline in the basin's HQ index. This study highlights the crucial role of FVC in HQ and provides a relevant scientific reference for optimizing the evaluation of HQ in the Tumen River cross-border basin and promoting the sustainable development of regional ecology. Understanding how public service accessibility is related to housing prices is crucial to housing equity, yet the heterogeneous capitalisation effect remains unknown. This study aims to investigate the spatial effect of public service accessibility on housing prices in rapidly urbanising regions. Here, we propose a novel methodological framework that integrates the hedonic price model, geographical detector model and the spatial association detector model to understand housing equity issues. The rapidly rising housing prices, vastly transformed urban planning and heterogeneous land use patterns make the urban centre of Wuhan a typical case study. High-value units of public service accessibility are concentrated in built-up areas, while low-value units are located at the urban fringe. The results indicate that larger public services have more significant clustering effects than smaller ones. Recreational, medical, educational and financial facilities all have capitalisation effects on housing prices. Both the geographical detector model and the spatial association detector model could identify the drivers of housing prices, but the explanatory power of the latter is greater and could enhance the validity and reliability of the findings. We further find that the explanatory power of the driving factors on housing prices obtained from the spatial association detector model is greater than that of the geographical detector model. Based on the spatial association detector model, the main drivers of public service facilities are accessibility to restaurants and bars and accessibility to ATMs. In addition, there are bivariate or nonlinear enhancement effects between each pair of driving factors. Chemometric analysis is often used as an effective indicator of the supply capacity of nutrients in soil–plant systems and their biogeochemical cycles. Understanding ecological stoichiometric characteristics of C, N and P in soils under various land uses is crucial to guide ecological restoration and agricultural cultivation in karst rocky desertification region. However, data on ecological stoichiometry at different land uses in karst areas is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different land uses on soil ecological stoichiometric ratios and further identify the factors that influence soil ecological stoichiometric ratios. The topsoil from forest, shrub and cultivated land (paddy field and dry land) both in a karst area and non-karst area (as a reference) of Mashan County was sampled to investigate the spatial variance of the ecological stoichiometric characteristics of C, N and P under different land uses. The results show that: (1) Land-use types significantly determined the spatial heterogeneity of soil ecological stoichiometry in karst areas. (2) Soil organic carbon (SOC) was not significantly different between shrubs in the karst area and forests in the non-karst area (p = 0.595), but there were virtual differences in total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), C:N, C:P and N:P between shrubs in the karst area and forests in the non-karst area (p < 0.01). (3) The contents of SOC, TN, and C:P, N:P in the study area were all generally higher in forests than those in cultivated land, and the content of TP was lower in forests than cultivated land, while C:N in cultivated land was higher than in shrubs in karst areas, and C:N was higher in forests than in cultivated land in non-karst areas. (4) Available nitrogen (AvN) was the main factor influencing stoichiometry in shrubs in karst areas, while pH, AvN, available phosphorus and elevation were the main factors in forests in non-karst areas, indicating that these factors significantly affect the soil ecological stoichiometric ratio during land-use changes. This study helps to understand the variations in soil ecological stoichiometric ratios under land-use changes. The Yellow River Basin in Inner Mongolia (YRBIM) has witnessed major changes in land use/land cover (LULC), which have had an impact on the basin's ecosystem, in the context of fast economic development and urbanization. This study set out to investigate the ecological risk and key driving forces in the basin as LULC evolves. In order to evaluate the ecological risk of the basin and use a geographic detector model to understand the causes of its spatial heterogeneity, we built a landscape ecological risk index (ERI) model based on changes in LULC from 1990 to 2020. The findings indicate that between 1990 and 2020, LULC modifications led to the transfer of several land types to a small number of land types, all of which have since changed into other land types. With high risk areas primarily located in the Hobq Desert, the Hetao irrigation area, and some portions of the Mu Us Sandy Land, the ecological risk level in the basin is gradually decreasing. Human activities are the main cause of the regional variation of ecological risk in the basin, with topography and climate coming in second and third. The Yellow River Basin's ecological danger and environmental quality have only received a limited amount of analysis to date. As an economically developed region, the Yangtze River Delta region has undergone earth-shaking changes in its rural settlements due to rapid urbanization. For the optimization and adjustment of rural settlements, it is crucial to disclose their distinguishing spatial features and impelling factors. Taking 307 county-level administrative regions in the Yangtze River Delta region as the research object, this study comprehensively uses the landscape index, nearest neighbor index, Moran index, and spatial hot spot detection system to analyze the spatial differentiation characteristics of rural residential location-scale morphology and reveals its driving factors using the optimal parameters-based geographical detector model. According to the findings, rural settlements in the Yangtze River Delta region exhibit an average nearest neighbor index of 0.7417, a Moran's I of 1.2993 for the number of patches (NP), and a maximum patch density (PD) of 17.25 villages per square kilometer. It has significant characteristics of large-scale village cluster distribution, and the morphology of rural settlements in the southern and northern regions shows apparent differences. The natural environment and social economies, such as elevation, slope, precipitation, and population density, mainly drive the location-scale morphological spatial distribution of rural settlements. At the same time, the interaction between the natural environment, social economy, and location condition factors has a synergistic enhancement effect on the spatial distribution of location-scale morphology of rural settlements.
