The problem of inverting dynamic complex matrices remains a central and intricate challenge that has garnered significant attention in scientific and mathematical research. The zeroing neural network (ZNN) has been a notable approach, utilizing time derivatives for real-time solutions in noiseless settings. However, real-world disturbances pose a significant challenge to a ZNN's convergence. We design an accelerated dual-integral structure zeroing neural network (ADISZNN), which can enhance convergence and restrict linear noise, particularly in complex domains. Based on the Lyapunov principle, theoretical analysis proves the convergence and robustness of ADISZNN. We have selectively integrated the SBPAF activation function, and through theoretical dissection and comparative experimental validation we have affirmed the efficacy and accuracy of our activation function selection strategy. After conducting numerous experiments, we discovered oscillations and improved the model accordingly, resulting in the ADISZNN-Stable model. This advanced model surpasses current models in both linear noisy and noise-free environments, delivering a more rapid and stable convergence, marking a significant leap forward in the field. The early identification of rotten potatoes is one of the most important challenges in a storage facility because of the inconspicuous symptoms of rot, the high density of storage, and environmental factors (such as temperature, humidity, and ambient gases). An electronic nose system based on an ensemble convolutional neural network (ECNN, a powerful feature extraction method) was developed to detect potatoes with different degrees of rot. Three types of potatoes were detected: normal samples, slightly rotten samples, and totally rotten samples. A feature discretization method was proposed to optimize the impact of ambient gases on electronic nose signals by eliminating redundant information from the features. The ECNN based on original features presented good results for the prediction of rotten potatoes in both laboratory and storage environments, and the accuracy of the prediction results was 94.70% and 90.76%, respectively. Moreover, the application of the feature discretization method significantly improved the prediction results, and the accuracy of prediction results improved by 1.59% and 3.73%, respectively. Above all, the electronic nose system performed well in the identification of three types of potatoes by using the ECNN, and the proposed feature discretization method was helpful in reducing the interference of ambient gases. Objectives: This study aimed to identify predictors of remission or low disease activity (LDA) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and low-ultrasound inflammation. Methods: A total of 80 patients with RA who fulfilled the 1987 ACR criteria for RA with a disease activity score of 28 joints (DAS28) > 3.2 were recruited. Over 1 year of therapy, we conducted blood tests every 6 months to examine erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1), neuraminidase 3 (Neu3), and α-2,3-sialyltrasnferse I (ST3Gal-1) levels in B cells and monocytes. Additionally, we evaluated physical function by using the Health Assessment Questionnaire–Disability Index (HAQ-DI). Data on demographic and clinical parameters were collected, and musculoskeletal ultrasonography was performed twice a year on 12 specific joints to assess synovial changes. One year later, we compared all collected data and laboratory or ultrasound results between patients achieving remission or LDA and those who did not in order to determine the predictors. Results: Age, the presence or absence of rheumatoid factor, and the number of conventional disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs used were not correlated with remission or LDA for DAS28 or Simplified Disease Activity Index formulas. However, male sex, low CRP levels, low ESR levels, and low HAQ-DI scores were associated with a higher likelihood of achieving remission or LDA for DAS28-ESR. Negative anticyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) and low HAQ-DI scores were predictors of remission or LDA for DAS28-MCP-1. Interestingly, having less than two comorbidities is a good predictor of a combined remission/low disease activity state for SDAI and DAS28-MCP-1. Furthermore, Neu3 and ST3Gal-1 levels and ST3Gal-1/Neu3 ratios in B cells and monocytes had no significant correlation with total ultrasound scores. Nevertheless, monocyte ST3Gal-1 and Neu3 correlated significantly with DAS28-ESR >5.1 and DAS-MCP-1 >4.8 (both categories belong to high disease activity), respectively (rho = 0.609 with p = 0.012, and rho = 0.727 with p = 0.011, respectively). Monocyte ST3Gal-1/Neu3 ratios connected with DAS28-ESR >5.1 and 3.3 < SDAI ≦ 11 (low disease activity), respectively (rho = 0.662 with p = 0.005, and rho = 0.342 with p = 0.048, respectively). Conclusions: In patients with RA in Taiwan, male sex, low CRP levels, low ESR levels, and low HAQ-DI scores are predictors of remission or LDA for DAS28-ESR, which differ from the predictors for DAS28-MCP-1. In digital product and ion scheduling centers, order–factory allocation, factory–mold allocation, and mold routing can be performed centrally and efficiently to maximize the utilization of manufacturing resources (molds). Therefore, in this paper, a manufacturing resource (molds)-sharing mechanism based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and a cyber-physical production system (CPPS) is designed to realize the coordinated allocation of molds and production scheduling. A mixed-integer mathematical model is developed to optimize the cost structure and obtain a reasonable profit solution. A heuristic algorithm based on evolutionary reversal is used to solve the problem. The numerical results show that based on the digital coordinated production scheduling method, distributed two-stage assembly manufacturing with shared molds can effectively reduce the order delay time and increase potential benefits for distributed production enterprises. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a debilitating joint disorder characterized by cartilage degradation and chronic inflammation, accompanied by high oxidative stress. In this study, we utilized the monosodium iodoacetate (MIA)-induced OA model to investigate the efficacy of oligo-fucoidan-based formula (FF) intervention in mitigating OA progression. Through its capacity to alleviate joint bearing function and inflammation, improvements in cartilage integrity following oligo-fucoidan-based formula intervention were observed, highlighting its protective effects against cartilage degeneration and structural damage. Furthermore, the oligo-fucoidan-based formula modulated the p38 signaling pathway, along with downregulating cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression, contributing to its beneficial effects. Our study provides valuable insights into targeted interventions for OA management and calls for further clinical investigations to validate these preclinical findings and to explore the translational potential of an oligo-fucoidan-based formula in human OA patients. Breast cancer (BC) represents one of the most prevalent malignant threats to women globally. Tumor relapse or metastasis is facilitated by BC stemness progression, contributing to tumorigenicity. Therefore, comprehending the characteristics of stemness progression and the underlying molecular mechanisms is pivotal for BC advancement. Hinokitiol (β-thujaplicin), a tropolone-related compound abundant in the heartwood of cupressaceous plants, exhibits antimicrobial activity. In our study, we employed three BC cell lines (MDA-MB-231, MCF-7, and T47D) to assess the expression of stemness-, apoptosis-, and autophagy-related proteins. Hinokitiol significantly reduced the viability of cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, we observed that hinokitiol enhances apoptosis by increasing the levels of cleaved poly-ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) and phospho-p53. It also induces dysfunction in autophagy through the upregulation of LC3B and p62 protein expression. Additionally, hinokitiol significantly suppressed the number and diameter of cancer cell line spheres by reducing the expression of cluster of differentiation44 (CD44) and key transcription factors. These findings underscore hinokitiol's potential as a therapeutic agent for breast cancer, particularly as a stemness-progression inhibitor. Background and Objective: The dynamic assessment of disease activity during the follow-up of patients with Crohn's disease (CD) remains a significant challenge. In this study, we aimed to identify the role of dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCE-US) in the evaluation of activity of CD. Methods: In the retrospective study, patients diagnosed with CD in our hospital were included. All the diagnoses were confirmed by clinical symptoms and ileocolonoscopical results. All patients underwent intestinal ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) examinations within 1 week of the ileocolonoscopy examinations. Acuson Sequoia (Siemens Healthineers, Mountain View, CA, USA) and Resona R9 Elite (Mindray Medical Systems, China) with curved array and Line array transducers were used. The CEUS examination was performed with SonoVue (Bracco SpA, Milan, Italy). DCE-US analysis was performed by UltraOffice (version: 0.3-2010, Mindray Medical Systems, China) software. Two regions of interest (ROIs) were set in the anterior section of the infected bowel wall and its surrounding normal bowel wall 2 cm distant from the inflamed area. Time–intensity curves (TICs) were generated and quantitative perfusion parameters were obtained after curve fittings. The Simple Endoscopic Score for Crohn's disease (SES-CD) was regarded as the reference standard to evaluate the activity of CD. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analyses were used to determine the diagnostic efficiency of DCE-US quantitative parameters. Results: From March 2023 to November 2023, 52 CD patients were included. According to SES-CD score, all patients were divided into active group with the SES-CD score > 5 (n = 39) and inactive group SES-CD score < 5 (n = 13). Most of the active CD patients showed bowel wall thickness (BWT) > 4.2 mm (97.4%, 38/39) or mesenteric fat hypertrophy (MFH) on intestinal ultrasound (US) scan (69.2%, 27/39). Color Doppler signal of the bowel wall mostly showed spotty or short striped blood flow signal in active CD patients (56.4%, 22/39). According to CEUS enhancement patterns, most active CD patients showed a complete hyperenhancement of the entire intestinal wall (61.5%, 24/39). The TICs of active CD showed an earlier enhancement, higher peak intensity, and faster decline. Among all CEUS quantitative parameters, amplitude-derived parameters peak enhancement (PE), wash-in area under the curve (WiAUC), wash-in rate (WiR), wash-in perfusion index (WiPI), and wash-out rate (WoR) were significantly higher in active CD than in inactive CD (p < 0.05). The combined AUROC of intestinal ultrasound features and DCE-US quantitative perfusion parameters in the diagnosis of active CD was 0.987, with 97.4% sensitivity, 100% specificity, and 98.1% accuracy. Wine grape quality is influenced by the variety and growing environment, and the quality of the grapes has a significant impact on the quality of the wine. Tannins are a crucial indicator of wine grape quality, and, therefore, rapid and non-destructive methods for detecting tannin content are necessary. This study collected spectral data of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay using a geophysical spectrometer, with a focus on the 500–1800 nm spectrum. The spectra were preprocessed using Savitzky–Golay (SG), first-order differential (1D), standard normal transform (SNV), and their respective combinations. Characteristic bands were extracted through correlation analysis (PCC). Models such as partial least squares (PLS), support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), and one-dimensional neural network (1DCNN) were used to model tannin content. The study found that preprocessing the raw spectra improved the models' predictive capacity. The SVM–RF model was the most effective in predicting grape tannin content, with a test set R2 of 0.78, an RMSE of 0.31, and an RE of 10.71%. Alpinia officinarum Hance, a well known agricultural product in the Lei Zhou peninsula, is generally rich in polysaccharides. In order to enhance the use of A. officinarum Hance polysaccharides (AOP) in functional food, AOP was extracted using an ultrasonic-assisted extraction method, and the ultrasonic extraction parameters of AOP was optimized. Furthermore, this study investigated the physicochemical and antioxidant activities of AOPs. In addition, the structural properties were preliminarily determined using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), high performance size exclusion chromatography, and a Zetasizer. Ultimately, this study explored the mechanism underlying the antioxidant activities of AOP. The results showed that the optimal ultrasonic-assisted extraction parameters were as follows: ultrasonic time, 6 min; ratio of water to material, 12 mL/g; and ultrasonic power, 380 W. Under these conditions, the maximum yield of AOPs was 5.72%, indicating that ultrasonic-assisted extraction technology is suitable for extracting AOPs due to the reduced time and water usage. Additionally, AOPs were purified using graded alcohol precipitation, resulting in three fractions (AOP30, AOP50, and AOP70). AOP30 had the lowest molecular weight of 11.07 kDa and mainly consisted of glucose (89.88%). The half inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of AOP30 and AOP70 was lower than that of AOP50 in the ability to scavenge the ABTS radical, while a reverse trend was observed in reducing ferric ions. Notably, the antioxidant activities of AOPs were highly correlated with their polydispersity index (Mw/Mn) and Zeta potential. AOP30, a negatively charged acidic polysaccharide fraction, exhibited electron donating capacities. Additionally, it displayed strong antioxidant abilities through scavenging 2,2′-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonate) (ABTS) radicals and reducing ferric ions. Simple Summary: Metastasis, the hallmark of cancer, is accountable for about 90% of cancer-related deaths. Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), a subset of the noncoding RNAs, has exhibited involvement in various processes, including immune evasion, cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, across multiple human diseases, notably cancer. The objective of our study was to identify a metastasis-associated lncRNA in lung cancer and elucidate the underlying mechanisms. Our findings indicate that Linc01703, which is notably downregulated in metastatic lung cancer cells, effectively suppresses lung cancer metastasis in vivo. Interestingly, Linc01703 does not directly impact the proliferation and invasion capabilities of lung cancer cells but rather inhibits cancer metastasis by promoting the secretion of CD81+ exosomes through the Rab27a/SYTL1/CD81 transport complexes. Consequently, our observations provide new insights into the potential clinical application of CD81+ exosome-based cancer therapy. Metastasis, a major cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, frequently occurs early in the diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). However, the precise molecular mechanisms governing the aggressive metastatic behavior of LUAD remain incompletely understood. In this study, we present compelling evidence indicating that the long noncoding RNA linc01703 is significantly downregulated in metastatic lung cancer cells. Intriguingly, in vivo experiments revealed that Linc01703 exerted a profound inhibitory effect on lung cancer metastasis without discernible impact on the in vitro proliferation or invasion capacities of LUAD cells. Mechanistically, Linc01703 enhanced the interaction between Rab27a, SYTL1, and CD81, consequently promoting the secretion of CD81+ exosomes. These exosomes, in turn, suppressed the infiltration of immune cells within the tumor microenvironment, thereby impeding LUAD metastasis. Importantly, our analysis of lung cancer tissues revealed a correlation between reduced CD81 expression and an unfavorable patient prognosis. Collectively, our findings suggest that Linc01703 functions as a metastasis suppressor by facilitating the secretion of CD81+ exosomes through the formation of the Rab27a/SYTL1/CD81 complex. Zika virus (ZIKV) belongs to the Flavivirus genus of the Flaviviridae family, and is a pathogen posing a significant threat to human health. Currently, there is a lack of internationally approved antiviral drugs for the treatment of ZIKV infection, and symptomatic management remains the primary clinical approach. Consequently, the exploration of safe and effective anti-ZIKV drugs has emerged as a paramount imperative in ZIKV control efforts. In this study, we performed a screening of a compound library consisting of 1789 FDA-approved drugs to identify potential agents with anti-ZIKV activity. We have identified dapoxetine, an orally administered selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) commonly employed for the clinical management of premature ejaculation (PE), as a potential inhibitor of ZIKV RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). Consequently, we conducted surface plasmon resonance (SPR) analysis to validate the specific binding of dapoxetine to ZIKV RdRp, and further evaluated its inhibitory effect on ZIKV RdRp synthesis using the ZIKV Gluc reporter gene assay. Furthermore, we substantiated the efficacy of dapoxetine in suppressing intracellular replication of ZIKV, thereby demonstrating a concentration-dependent antiviral effect (EC50 values ranging from 4.20 μM to 12.6 μM) and negligible cytotoxicity (CC50 > 50 μM) across diverse cell lines. Moreover, cell fluorescence staining and Western blotting assays revealed that dapoxetine effectively reduced the expression of ZIKV proteins. Collectively, our findings suggest that dapoxetine exhibits anti-ZIKV effects by inhibiting ZIKV RdRp activity, positioning it as a potential candidate for clinical therapeutic intervention against ZIKV infection. The digitalization of information is crucial for the upgrading of the bayberry digital agriculture industry, while the low-cost information detection sensing equipment for bayberry are a bottleneck for the digital development of the industry. The existing rapid and non-destructive detection devices for fruit acidity and sugar content mainly use near-infrared and mid-infrared spectral characteristic for detection. These devices use expensive InGaAs sensor, which are difficult to promote and apply in the bayberry digital industry. This study is based on the high-spectral range of 454–998 nm in bayberry fruit to study the mechanism of fruit sugar and acidity content detection and to develop a portable bayberry fruit sugar and acidity detection device using Si-sensor in order to achieve low-cost quality parameter detection of bayberry fruit. The research results show that: Based on the hyperspectral of bayberry fruit, the sensitive wavelength for sugar content inversion is 610 nm, and the inversion accuracy (RMSE) is 1.399Brix; the sensitive wavelength for pH inversion is 570 nm, and the inversion accuracy (RMSE) is 0.1329. Based on the above spectroscopic detection mechanism and spectral dimension reduction methods, combined with low-cost Si-sensor (400–1000 nm), a low-cost non-destructive portable bayberry fruit sugar and acidity detection device has been developed, with detection accuracies of 94.74% and 97.14%, respectively. This bayberry fruit sugar and acidity detector provides a low-cost portable non-destructive quality detection instrument of bayberry, which is in line with the industrial group of low consumption in which the bayberry is mainly cultivated on a small scale, accelerating the digitalization process of the bayberry industry. Bladder cancer is becoming one of the most common malignancies across the world. Although treatment strategy has been continuously improved, which has led to cisplatin-based chemotherapy becoming the standard medication, cancer recurrence and metastasis still occur in a high proportion of patients because of drug resistance. The high efficacy of regorafenib, a broad-spectrum kinase inhibitor, has been evidenced in treating a variety of advanced cancers. Hence, this study investigated whether regorafenib could also effectively antagonize the survival of cisplatin-resistant bladder cancer and elucidate the underlying mechanism. Two types of cisplatin-resistant bladder cancer cells, T24R1 and T24R2, were isolated from T24 cisplatin-sensitive bladder cancer cells. These cells were characterized, and T24R1- and T24R2-xenografted tumor mice were created to examine the therapeutic efficacy of regorafenib. T24R1 and T24R2 cells exhibited higher expression levels of epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and stemness markers compared to the T24 cells, and regorafenib could simultaneously inhibit the viability and the expression of EMT/stemness markers of both T24R1 and T24R2 cells. Moreover, regorafenib could efficiently arrest the cell cycle, promote apoptosis, and block the transmigration/migration capabilities of both types of cells. Finally, regorafenib could significantly antagonize the growth of T24R1- and T24R2-xenografted tumors in mice. These results demonstrated the therapeutic efficacy of regorafenib in cisplatin-resistant bladder cancers. This study, thus, provides more insights into the mechanism of action of regorafenib and demonstrates its great potential in the future treatment of cisplatin-resistant advanced bladder cancer patients. Malignant focal liver lesions (FLLs) represent various kinds of epithelial and mesenchymal tumors. In pediatric patients, the understanding of pediatric liver diseases and associated imaging manifestations is essential for making accurate diagnosis and differential diagnosis. This paper will discuss the latest knowledge of the common pediatric malignant FLLs, including undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, angiosarcoma, and malignant rhabdoid tumor. Medical imaging features are not only helpful for clinical diagnosis, but can also be useful in the evaluation and follow-up of pre- and post-treatment. Ascomylactam C (AsC) is a new 13-membered-ring macrocyclic alkaloid, which was first isolated and identified in 2019 from the secondary metabolites of the mangrove endophytic fungus Didymella sp. CYSK-4 in the South China Sea. AsC has been found to have a broad-spectrum cytotoxic activity. However, the antitumor effects in vivo and mechanisms of AsC remain unclear. The aim of this study was to describe the effects of AsC on lung cancer and melanoma cells and to explore the antitumor molecular mechanism of AsC. In vitro, we used plate colony formation experiments and demonstrated the ability of AsC to inhibit low-density tumor growth. An Annexin V/PI cell apoptosis detection experiment revealed that AsC induced tumor cell apoptosis. In vivo, AsC suppressed the tumor growth of LLC and B16F10 allograft significantly in mice, and promoted the infiltration of CD4+ T and CD8+ T cells in tumor tissues. Mechanistically, by analyses of Western blotting, immunofluorescence and ELISA analysis, we found that AsC increased ROS formation, induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, activated the protein kinase RNA-like ER kinase (PERK)/eukaryotic translation initiation factor (eIF2α)/activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4)/C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP) signaling pathway, and induced immunogenic cell death (ICD) of tumor cells. Bladder cancer is a urothelial malignancy. Bladder cancer starts in the urothelial cells lining the inside of the bladder. The 5-year recurrence rate for bladder cancer ranges from 31% to 78%, and the progression rate is approximately 45%. To treat bladder cancer, intravesical drug therapy is often used. Leonurus artemisia extract (LaE) was obtained from medicinal samples of Chinese motherwort Scientific Chinese Medicine; L. artemisia has various biological effects. This study investigated the impact of LaE on human bladder cancer cells (the BFTC-905 cell line) and the molecular mechanism underlying apoptosis resulting from the activation of cell signal transduction pathways in bladder cancer cells. A cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay was used to determine the effect of LaE on cell growth. The effect of LaE on migration ability was observed using a wound healing assay. The effects of LaE on the cell cycle, reactive oxygen species production, and apoptosis were investigated. Western blot analysis detected apoptosis-related and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway-related protein concentrations. At non-toxic concentrations, LaE inhibited the proliferation of BFTC-905 cells in a concentration-dependent manner, and the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) was 24.08172 µg/µL. LaE impaired the migration ability of BFTC-905 cells. LaE arrested the cell cycle in the G1 and G0 phases, increased reactive oxygen species production, and induced apoptosis. LaE increased Bax and p-ERK concentrations and decreased Bcl-2, cleaved caspase-3, and p-p38 concentrations. No differences in PARP, C-PARP, vimentin, e-cadherin, p-JNK, or TNF-alpha concentrations were observed. These results suggest that LaE inhibits the proliferation of human bladder cancer cells. Few studies have examined the cross-sectoral impacts of electric vehicles on the economy, energy, and the environment. This study adopted hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and pure-battery electric vehicles as research objects in establishing an input–output analysis framework of the electric-vehicle industry. Learning curves and scenario analysis were also used to explore the cross-sectoral economic–energy–environmental impacts of electric-vehicle promotion, using Taiwan as a case study. Our results indicated that by 2040, electric vehicles will create an output value of 157~186.7 billion NTD, while boosting employment and reducing energy expenditures but having a negligible impact on income. It is expected that by 2040, the adoption of electric vehicles will reduce energy consumption to 65~82% of the levels required for vehicles using internal-combustion engines. This study employs a 3D discrete element method (DEM) to simulate cone penetration tests (CPTs) in granular soils, taking into account the effect of temperature. A coupled thermal mechanical model is developed to allow for heat transfer and storage in the granular materials. The CPT simulations are conducted on granular samples prepared at various temperatures, with the specific heat and velocity of thermal conductivity being identified as two critical factors that influence sample heating time. This research paper presents an investigation into the shear behavior of binary mixtures composed of cubic and spherical particles, employing the discrete element method (DEM) through triaxial tests simulations. A range of binary particle samples with varying volume fractions of cubic and spherical particles is generated for analysis. The study primarily focuses on examining the contracting-dilatancy relationship of binary granular material samples by scrutinizing deviatoric stress and volumetric strain curves, while considering the influence of confining pressure, initial porosity, and particle size ratio. Furthermore, the paper sheds light on the evolution of microstructures during the shearing process by presenting coordination numbers and rotational velocity fields for different particle types (overall particles, cubic particles, spherical particles), as well as between cubic-spherical particles. Candida albicans (C. albicans) reigns as a major cause of clinical candidiasis. C. albicans biofilms are known to increase resistance to antifungal agents, making biofilm-related infections particularly challenging to treat. Drug resistance is of particular concern due to the spread of multidrug-resistant fungal pathogens, while autophagy is crucial for the maintenance of cellular homeostasis. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of an activator and an inhibitor of autophagy on the susceptibility of C. albicans biofilms to antifungal agents and the related mechanisms. The susceptibility of C. albicans biofilms to different antifungal agents after treatment with or without the autophagy activator or inhibitor was evaluated using XTT assay. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) level, as well as the expression of ROS-related and autophagy-related genes, were examined to evaluate the autophagic activity of C. albicans biofilms when treated with antifungal agents. The autophagosomes were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The susceptibility of C. albicans biofilms to antifungal agents changed when autophagy changed. The ALP activity and ROS level of C. albicans biofilms increased with the treatment of antifungal agents, and autophagosomes could be observed in C. albicans biofilms. Dysmenorrhea causes pain and inconvenience during menstruation. In addition to medication, natural compounds are widely used to relieve various types of pain. In this study, we aimed to assess the effects of vitamin D (vit. D) supplementation in relieving the symptoms of primary dysmenorrhea. A comprehensive systematic database search of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was performed. Oral forms of vit. D supplementation were included and compared with a placebo or standard care. The degree of dysmenorrhea pain was measured with a visual analogue scale or numerical rating scale. Outcomes were compared using the standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) in a meta-analysis. RCTs were assessed using the Cochrane risk-of-bias v2 (RoB 2) tool. The meta-analysis included 8 randomized controlled trials involving 695 participants. The results of the quantitative analysis showed a significantly lower degree of pain in the vit. D versus placebo in those with dysmenorrhea (SMD: −1.404, 95% CI: −2.078 to −0.731). The results of subgroup analysis revealed that pain lessened when the average weekly dose of vit. D was over 50,000 IU, in which dysmenorrhea was relieved regardless of whether vit. D was administered for more or less than 70 days and in any dose interval. The results revealed that vit. D treatment substantially reduced the pain level in the primary dysmenorrhea population. We concluded that vit. Glycyrrhiza inflata Batalin is a medicinal licorice species that has been widely used by humans for centuries. Licochalcone A (LCA) is a characteristic flavonoid that accumulates in G. inflata roots with high economical value. However, the biosynthetic pathway and regulatory network of its accumulation remain largely unknown. Here we found that a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor nicotinamide (NIC) could enhance the accumulation of LCA and total flavonoids in G. inflata seedlings. GiSRT2, a NIC-targeted HDAC was functionally analyzed and its RNAi transgenic hairy roots accumulated much more LCA and total flavonoids than its OE lines and the controls, indicating a negative regulatory role of GiSRT2 in the accumulation of LCA and total flavonoids. Co-analysis of transcriptome and metabolome of RNAi-GiSRT2 lines revealed potential mechanisms in this process. An O-methyltransferase gene, GiLMT1 was up-regulated in RNAi-GiSRT2 lines and the encoded enzyme catalyzed an intermediate step in LCA biosynthesis pathway. Transgenic hairy roots of GiLMT1 proved that GiLMT1 is required for LCA accumulation. Together, this work highlights the critical role of GiSRT2 in the regulation of flavonoid biosynthesis and identifies GiLMT1 as a candidate gene for the biosynthesis of LCA with synthetic biology approaches. Immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy can improve the survival of cancer patients with a high tumor mutation burden (TMB-H) or deficiency in DNA mismatch repair (dMMR) in their tumors. However, most cancer patients without TMB-H and dMMR do not benefit from ICB therapy. The inhibition of ATM can increase DNA damage and activate the interferon response, thus modulating the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) and the efficacy of ICB therapy. In this study, we showed that ATM inhibition activated interferon signaling and induced interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) in cisplatin-resistant and parent cancer cells. The ISGs induced by ATM inhibition were correlated with survival in cancer patients who received ICB therapy. In oral cancer, high expressions of ISG15, IFI27, and OASL were associated with low expressions of ATM, the activation of inflamed immune pathways, and increased tumor-infiltrating scores of CD8+ T, natural killer, and dendritic cells. The high expressions of ISG15, IFI27, and OASL were also correlated with complete remission in patients with cervical cancer treated with cisplatin. Zika virus (ZIKV), belonging to the Flavivirus family and mainly transmitted by mosquitoes, causes a variety of adverse outcomes, including Guillain-Barré syndrome, microcephaly, and meningoencephalitis. However, there are no approved vaccines or drugs available for ZIKV. The discovery and research on drugs for ZIKV are still essential. In this study, we identified doramectin, an approved veterinary antiparasitic drug, as a novel anti-ZIKV agent (EC50 value from 0.85 μM to 3.00 μM) with low cytotoxicity (CC50 > 50 μM) in multiple cellular models. The expression of ZIKV proteins also decreased significantly under the treatment of doramectin. Further study showed that doramectin directly interacted with the key enzyme for ZIKV genome replication, RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), with a stronger affinity (Kd = 16.9 μM), which may be related to the effect on ZIKV replication. The thermoresponsive drug-loaded hydrogels have attracted widespread interest in the field of medical applications due to their ease of delivery to structurally complex tissue defects. However, drug-resistant infections remain a challenge, which has prompted the development of new non-antibiotic hydrogels. To this end, we prepared chitosan-methacrylate (CTSMA)/gelatin (GEL) thermoresponsive hydrogels and added natural phenolic compounds, including tannic acid, gallic acid, and pyrogallol, to improve the efficacy of hydrogels. This hybrid hydrogel imparted initial crosslinking at physiological temperature, followed by photocuring to further provide a mechanically robust structure. Rheological analysis, tensile strength, antibacterial activity against E. coli, S. aureus, P. gingivalis, and S. mutans, and L929 cytotoxicity were evaluated. The experimental results showed that the hybrid hydrogel with CTSMA/GEL ratio of 5/1 and tannic acid additive had a promising gelation temperature of about 37 °C. The presence of phenolic compounds not only significantly (p < 0.05) enhanced cell viability, but also increased the tensile strength of CTSMA/GEL hybrid hydrogels. Moreover, the hydrogel containing tannic acid revealed potent antibacterial efficacy against four microorganisms. Simple Summary: Although upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) is a relatively rare malignancy in Western countries, recurrence and distant metastasis are common even after definitive surgery. Many prognostic factors have been identified from previous studies, allowing clinicians to better stratify risk to select patients for perioperative systemic therapy; however, the applicability of adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with stage II UTUC after radical surgery remains unclear. In this study, we found that patients with primary tumor location at ureter or renal pelvis plus synchronous ureter had more frequent disease relapse and worse long-term oncological outcomes than other patients. Male sex, older age, history of previous bladder cancer, and positive surgical margins remain important unfavorable prognostic factors for recurrence and survival. Additional treatment and closer surveillance in patients with these negative prognostic factors are warranted despite complete pathological removal of the tumor. Background: Oncologic outcomes for pT2N0M0 upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) after nephroureterectomy are not well defined, with most previous studies focused on a heterogeneous population. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the clinical determinants of extraurinary tract recurrence and survival after radical surgery in patients with localized UTUC. Methods: We retrospectively identified 476 patients with pT2N0M0 UTUC who underwent radical nephroureterectomy or ureterectomy between October 2002 and March 2022. To evaluate the prognostic impact, patients were divided into renal pelvic, ureteral, and both-region (renal pelvis plus synchronous ureter) groups based on tumor location. The outcomes included recurrence-free survival (RFS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and overall survival (OS). Associations were evaluated using multivariable Cox regression analyses for prognostic factors and Kaplan–Meier analyses for survival curves. Results: The renal pelvic, ureteral, and both-region groups consisted of 151 (31.7%), 314 (66.0%), and 11 (2.3%) patients, respectively. Kaplan–Meier analyses comparing the three tumor types showed significant differences in 5-year RFS (83.6% vs. 73.6% vs. 52.5%, p = 0.013), CSS (88.6% vs. 80.7% vs. 51.0%, p = 0.011), and OS (83.4% vs. 70.1% vs. 45.6%, p = 0.002). Multivariable analyses showed that age >60 years, previous bladder cancer history, ureteral involvement (ureteral and both-regional groups), and positive surgical margins were significant negative prognostic factors for the studied outcomes. Conclusions: Patients with pT2 UTUC and presence of ureteral involvement had more frequent disease relapse. Introduction: Aortic dissection (AD) is a life-threatening disease. However, the effectiveness of different strategies of antihypertensive therapies in non-operated AD patients is still unclear. Materials and methods: Patients were classified into five groups (groups 0–4) based on the number of classes of antihypertensive drugs, including β-blockers, renin-angiotensin system (RAS) agents (angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs), angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), and the renin-inhibitors), calcium channel blockers (CCBs), and other antihypertensive drugs, were prescribed within 90 days after discharge. The primary endpoint was a composite outcome of re-hospitalization associated with AD, referral for aortic surgery, and all-cause death. Results: A total of 3932 non-operated AD patients were included in our study. The most prescribed antihypertensive drugs were CCBs, followed by β-blockers and ARBs. Within group 1, compared to other antihypertensive drugs, patients using RAS agents (aHR, 0.58; p = 0.005) had a significantly lower risk of occurrence of the outcome. Within group 2, the risk of composite outcomes was lower in patients using β-blockers + CCBs (aHR, 0.60; p = 0.004) or CCBs + RAS agents (aHR, 0.60; p = 0.006) than in those using RAS agents + others. Conclusion: For non-operated AD patients, RAS agents, β-blockers, or CCBs should be given in a different strategy of combinations to reduce the hazard of AD-related complications compared to other agents. As a traditional Tibetan medicine in China, Meconopsis grandis Prain has been used to treat a variety of illnesses by local people for thousands of years. However, the active ingredients contained in Meconopsis grandis Prain and its pharmacodynamic mechanisms have scarcely been reported. We isolated a meroterpenoid named D1399 from Meconopsis grandis Prain endophytic fungi with strong antitumor activity. The structure analysis showed that D1399 is an alkaloid containing a 13-membered macrocyclic structure. The IC50 of D1399 for human lung cancer cells' viability ranged from 0.88 to 2.45 μM. Furthermore, we utilized TUNEL assay and western blotting to investigate the antitumor effectiveness of D1399. The results have shown that D1399 induced the apoptosis of lung cancer cells on the extrinsic and intrinsic pathways by boosting ROS generation and repressing AKT activity. In the mouse xenograft model, the average tumor weight with 30 mg·kg−1 D1399 treatment exhibited 73.19% inhibition compared with the untreated control, without affecting body weight loss. Above all, for the first time, our study provides a possible mechanism for the antitumor activity of D1399 in vitro and in vivo as a natural product from Tibetan medicine with Meconopsis grandis Prain, which may be a potentially promising antitumor drug candidate. This work investigated the effects of single stress and electro-thermo-mechanical coupling stress on the electrical properties of top-cooled enhancement mode (E-mode) Aluminium Gallium Nitride/Gallium Nitride (AlGaN/GaN) high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) (GS66508T). Planar pressure, linear deformation, punctate deformation, environmental temperature, electro-thermal coupling, thermo-mechanical coupling, and electro-thermo-mechanical coupling stresses were applied to the device. It was found that different kinds of stress had different influence mechanisms on the device. Namely, excessive mechanical pressure/deformation stress caused serious, irrecoverable degradation of the device's leakage current, with the gate leakage current (Ig) increasing by ~107 times and the drain-to-source leakage current (Idss) increasing by ~106 times after mechanical punctate deformation of 0.5 mm. The device characteristics were not restored after the mechanical stress was removed. Compared with three mechanical stresses, environmental thermal stress had a greater influence on the device's transfer characteristic and on-resistance (Ron) but far less influence on Ig and Idss. As was expected, multiple stress coupled to the device promoted invalidation of the device. For more in-depth investigation, finite element simulation carried out with COMSOL was used to analyze the effect of electro-thermo-mechanical coupling stress on top-cooled E-mode AlGaN/GaN HEMT. The results of the experiments and simulation demonstrated that single and coupled stresses, especially mechanical stress coupled with other stresses, degraded the electrical properties or even caused irreversible damage to top-cooled E-mode AlGaN/GaN HEMT. Obesity is a cancer progression risk factor; excessive adipocytes increase adipokine secretion. Visfatin, a novel adipokine highly expressed in cancer patients, is related to breast cancer risk. The modulation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) metabolism and the induction of a tumorigenic environment plays a vital role in cancer progression. Among cancer cell types, cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) with self-renewal and chemotherapy-resistance abilities could modulate tumor progression and cancer recurrence ability. In this study, we focused on visfatin's modulation effect on stemness-related properties using the high-malignancy breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 in in vitro and in vivo studies. Visfatin treatment significantly increased both the sphere number and sphere diameter and increased the protein expression of NANOG homeobox (NANOG), sex-determining region Y-box 2 (SOX2), and octamer-binding transcription factor 4 (OCT4), as well as SIRT1 protein levels. The serum angiogenesis marker VEGF and extracellular nicotinamide phosphoribosyl transferase (NAMPT, visfatin) were induced after visfatin treatment, increasing the stemness and angiogenesis environment, which were significantly reduced by the visfatin inhibitor FK866. To study the working performance of 3D stacked chips, a double-layer stacked GaN MISHEMTs structure was designed to study the electro-thermal characteristics and heat transfer process of stacked chips. Firstly, the electrical characteristics of double-layer and single-layer GaN MISHEMTs are compared at room temperature. Under the same conditions, the output current of double-layer GaN MISHEMTs is twice that of single-layer GaN MISHEMTs, but its off-state current is much higher than that of a single-layer device. Meanwhile, there is no significant difference between the threshold voltages of the double-layer and single-layer GaN MISHEMTs. Then, the effect of temperature on the electrical characteristics of double-layer GaN MISHEMTs is also investigated. When the temperature increased from room temperature to 150 °C, the device's threshold voltage gradually shifted negatively, the output current of the device decreased, and the off-state current of the device increased. Furthermore, a thermal resistance network model has been established to analyze the thermal characteristics of the stacked GaN MISHEMTs. The relative error between the results calculated according to the model and the experimental results does not exceed 4.26%, which verified the correctness and accuracy of the presented model to predict the temperature distribution of the stacked GaN MISHEMTs. People in Eastern countries hold a tradition of soaking herbal medicine in wine; however, the efficacy and safety of herbal wine have not been rigorously assessed. By assessing the efficacy of resveratrol (RSV) in ethanol against alcoholic liver disease (ALD) in mice, we aimed to offer a perspective on the use of herbal wine. To simulate the behaviour of herbal wine users, RSV (15 mg/kg) soaked in ethanol (RSV-alcohol) was administrated via gavage to the mice, here with alcohol consumption-induced ALD. RSV soaked in water (RSV-water) was the treatment control. The efficacy and safety of RSV on ALD were evaluated. Compared with the RSV-water group, a higher rate of mortality was found in the RSV-alcohol group (50.0% vs. 20.0%), which also exhibited more severe liver injury. RSV significantly increased the exposure of alcohol by 126.0%, which was accompanied by a significant inhibition of the ethanol metabolic pathway. In contrast, alcohol consumption significantly reduced exposure to RSV by 95.0%. Alcohol consumption had little effect on the expression of drug-metabolizing enzymes in RSV; however, alcohol seemed to reduce the absorption of RSV. RSV in liquor exacerbates alcoholic liver injury and has a reduced therapeutic effect, suggesting that the habit of herbal wine use without supervision is risky. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Neuroblastoma (NB) is an extracranial solid tumor in children with poor prognosis in high-risk patients and its pathogenesis and prognostic markers urgently need to be explored. This study aimed to explore potential biomarkers related to NB from the aspect of lipid metabolism. Fifty-eight lipid metabolism-related differentially expressed genes between high-risk NB and non-high-risk NB in the GSE49710 dataset were analyzed using bioinformatics, including 45 down-regulated genes and 13 up-regulated genes. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis identified steroid hormone biosynthesis as an abnormal metabolic pathway in high-risk NB. Survival analysis established a three-gene prognostic model, including ACHE, GDPD5 and PIK3R1. In the test data, the AUCs of the established prognostic models used to predict patient survival at 1, 3 and 5 years were 0.84, 0.90 and 0.91, respectively. Finally, in the SH-SY5Y cell line, it was verified that overexpression of GDPD5 can inhibit cell proliferation and migration, as well as affect the lipid metabolism of SH-SY5Y, but not the sugar metabolism. hsa-miR-592 was predicted to be a potential target miRNA of GDPD5 by bioinformatics. In conclusion, this study develops a lipid-metabolism-related gene-based prognostic model for NB and demonstrates that GDPD5 inhibits SH-SY5Y proliferation and migration and may be targeted by hsa-miR-592 and inhibit SH-SY5Y fat synthesis. Objectives: This study aimed to examine and compare the findings of nail and enthesis ultrasonography in patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Methods: We identified 154 patients with psoriatic arthritis and 35 patients with psoriasis who were treated at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, between September 2018 and January 2019. Results: There were significant differences in the Nail Psoriasis Severity Index scores and Glasgow Ultrasound Enthesitis Scoring System scores between patients with psoriasis and those with psoriatic arthritis. B-mode ultrasonography revealed that onychopathic changes were more common in the psoriasis group. The psoriatic arthritis group showed a higher proportion of lower-limb enthesopathy, with significant differences in distal patellar ligament thickness and Achilles tendon thickness. Conclusion: The findings of nail ultrasonography were more severe in psoriasis cases, and the ultrasonographic findings of enthesopathy of the lower limb were more severe in cases of psoriatic arthritis. Inflammation is a major cause of skeletal muscle atrophy in various diseases. 2-Hydroxy-4′-methoxychalcone (AN07) is a chalcone-based peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) agonist with various effects, such as antiatherosclerosis, anti-inflammation, antioxidative stress, and neuroprotection. In this study, we examined the effects of AN07 on protein homeostasis pathway and mitochondrial function in inflammation-associated myotube atrophy induced by lipopolysaccharides (LPS). We found that AN07 significantly attenuated NF-κB activation, inflammatory factors (TNF-α, IL-1β, COX-2, and PGE2), Nox4 expression, and reactive oxygen species levels in LPS-treated C2C12 myotubes. Moreover, AN07 increased SOD2 expression and improved mitochondrial function, including mitochondrial membrane potential and mitochondrial oxygen consumption rate. We also demonstrated that AN07 attenuated LPS-induced reduction of myotube diameter, MyHC expression, and IGF-1/IGF-1R/p-Akt-mediated protein synthesis signaling. Additionally, AN07 downregulated LPS-induced autophagy–lysosomal protein degradation molecules (LC3-II/LC3-I and degraded p62) and ubiquitin–proteasome protein degradation molecules (n-FoxO1a/MuRF1/atrogin-1). However, the regulatory effects of AN07 on protein synthesis and degradation signaling were inhibited by the IGF-1R inhibitor AG1024 and the PI3K inhibitor wortmannin. In addition, the PPARγ antagonist GW9662 attenuated the effects of AN07 against LPS-induced inflammation, oxidation, and protein catabolism. Nitrogen (N) deposition is increasingly aggravating and has significant impact on the processes of forest soil carbon (C) cycling. However, how N deposition affects forest soil C cycling processes in the scenario of future drought-frequent climate is still unclear. Therefore, we conducted a 2.5-year experiment at two levels of N addition treatments (control and N addition) and three levels of moisture (well-watered: ca. 80% of field capacity, moderate drought: ca. 60% of field capacity, severe drought: ca. 40% of field capacity) to investigate the impact of N addition, drought, and their interaction on soil respiration (Rs) and soil organic carbon (SOC) content. The results showed that N addition significantly increased Rs and SOC content, and severe drought decreased Rs and SOC content. In a well-watered condition, N addition significantly increased annual mean Rs, but in moderate drought and severe drought condition, N addition did not obviously affect Rs. In the control group, severe drought significantly decreased annual mean Rs by 61.5%, and decreased SOC content in 0–10 cm and in 10–20 cm by 3.0% and 1.6%, respectively. However, in the N addition group, moderate drought and severe drought significantly decreased annual mean Rs by 27.6% and 70.5%, respectively. Meanwhile, compared to the well-watered condition, severe drought significantly decreased SOC content in 0–10 cm and in 10–20 cm by 12.4% and 11.9% in the N addition group, respectively. Severe drought also decreased aboveground and belowground biomass, fine root biomass, MBC, and specific respiration in N addition group. The Rs and SOC content were positively correlated with aboveground biomass, belowground biomass, and fine root biomass. These results suggest that under future global change scenarios, severe drought might offset the promotive effects of N deposition on soil respiration and C sequestration in the young subtropical forest. Simple Summary: Portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) is the commonest type of macrovascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), while the effectiveness of treatments for HCC with PVTT remains unsatisfactory. The present study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the combination treatment of sorafenib, an immune checkpoint inhibitor, transcatheter arterial chemoembolization and stereotactic body radiation therapy in patients with advanced HCC and PVTT. We confirmed that the combination therapy yielded better survival data than the combined administration of sorafenib and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in patients with advanced HCC and PVTT. Especially, this combination therapy could serve as a downstaging strategy to provide the chance of radical surgery for the patients with advanced HCC. Background: This study compared the effectiveness of the combined administration of sorafenib, an immune checkpoint inhibitor, transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE), and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) (SITS group) vs. sorafenib combined with TACE (ST group) in treating and downstaging advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT). Methods: The present study included patients with advanced HCC and PVTT treated with one of the above combination therapies. The downstaging rate, objective response rate (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), disease control rate (DCR), and adverse events (AEs) were assessed. Results: Sixty-two patients were analyzed. The ORR was elevated in the SITS group compared with the ST group (p = 0.036), but no differences were found in DCR (p = 0.067). The survival analysis revealed higher PFS (p = 0.015) and OS (p = 0.013) in the SITS group, with median PFS and OS times of 10.4 and 13.8 months, respectively. Ten patients displayed successful downstaging and underwent surgery in the SITS group, vs. none in the ST group. The prognosis was better in surgically treated patients compared with the non-surgery subgroup, based on PFS (p < 0.001) and OS (p = 0.003). Despite a markedly higher rate of AEs in the SITS group (p = 0.020), including two severe AEs, the SITS combination therapy had an acceptable safety profile. Conclusion: The SITS combination therapy yields higher PFS and OS than the combined administration of sorafenib and TACE in patients with advanced HCC and PVTT, especially as a downstaging strategy before surgery. The Q factor in a quasi-BIC-based optical device can approach infinity and has therefore been attracting the attention of many researchers in recent years. However, this mode is barely applied to absorbers since it mainly tunes the radiative loss. The resonant wavelength of quasi-BICs normally couples with the Q factor, and it is difficult to independently tune one of them while maintaining the other, which weakens the flexibility of tuning. In this work, a quasi-BIC-based high-Q perfect absorber with some unique features is proposed. It shows a decoupled relationship between the resonant wavelength and the Q factor such that these two properties can be independently tuned by changing different structure parameters. In addition, both radiative and resistive losses are tunable. An easy method is proposed to design a perfect absorber with different resonant wavelengths and different Q factors, and a near-infrared perfect absorber with a Q factor as high as 5.13 × 105 is designed. Simple Summary: Urothelial carcinoma (UC) of the bladder is the most common malignancy in dialysis patients in Taiwan compared with renal cell carcinoma in Western countries. Radical cystectomy is the standard of care for localized muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), as well as for selected patients with high-risk non-MIBC. Despite improvements in anesthetic competency, surgical techniques, and postoperative care, dialysis patients undergoing radical cystectomy are at a higher risk of perioperative morbidity and mortality than non-dialysis patients. Due to the relative rarity of the condition, published data on predictors of outcome in ESRD patients undergoing radical cystectomy are scant. Our study revealed that accurate reporting of complications is necessary for preoperative counseling, identifying modifiable risk factors, and planning risk mitigation strategies. Background: We investigated the use of a standardized reporting system to study perioperative complications and oncologic outcomes after radical cystectomy in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients with bladder cancer. Methods: We reviewed retrospective outcomes in 141 ESRD patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy between 2004 and 2015. Complications were graded using the Clavien–Dindo classification system with 0–2 classified as "No Major Complications" and Clavien 3–5 as "Major Complications". Low-volume surgeons were classified as those performing fewer than nine cases during the study. Fisher's exact test along with the chi-squared test, two-tailed t tests, logistic regression, and the Cox proportional hazard model were used to evaluate all clinically meaningful covariates. Results: Ninety-nine (99, 70.2%) patients had no major complications, and forty-two (29.8%) patients had major complications. Patients in the major complications group were older, had a higher Charlson comorbidity index (CCI), and had a longer hospitalization duration than those in the no major complications group (all, p < 0.05). Major complications were also more common when the procedure was performed by low-volume surgeons (p = 0.003). In multivariate logistic regression models, CCI ≥ 5 (p = 0.006) and low-volume surgeon (p = 0.004) were independent predictors of major complications. According to multivariate analysis with the Cox hazards regression, male sex, age > 70 years, CCI ≥ 5, bladder cancer stage ≥ 3, lymphovascular invasion, and experiencing major complications were significant poor prognostic factors for overall survival (all, p < 0.05). Bidirectional current-regulating ability is needed for AC light emitting diode (LED) drivers. In previous studies, various rectifier circuits have been used to provide constant bidirectional current. However, the usage of multiple electronic components can lead to additional costs and power consumption. In this work, a novel AlGaN/GaN lateral bidirectional current-regulating diode (B-CRD) featuring two symmetrical hybrid-trench electrodes is proposed and demonstrated by TCAD Sentaurus (California USA) from Synopsys corporation. Through shortly connecting the Ohmic contact and trench Schottky contact, the unidirectional invariant current can be obtained even with the applied voltage spanning a large range of 0–200 V. Furthermore, with the combination of two symmetrical hybrid-trench electrodes at each side of the device, the proposed B-CRD can deliver an excellent steady current in different directions. Through the TCAD simulation results, it was found that the device's critical characteristics (namely knee voltage and current density) can be flexibly modulated by tailoring the depth and length of the trench Schottky contact. Meanwhile, it was also demonstrated through the device/circuit mixed-mode simulation that the proposed B-CRD can respond to the change in voltage in a few nanoseconds. Such a new functionality combined with excellent performance may make the proposed B-CRD attractive in some special fields where the bidirectional current-limiting function is needed. While long-term hypnotic use is very common in clinical practice, the associated factors have been understudied. This study aims to explore the cognitive factors that might influence the long-term use of hypnotics based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB), and examines the moderating effect of craving between cognitive intention and actual hypnotic-use behavior at follow-up. A total of 139 insomnia patients completed a self-constructed TPB questionnaire to measure their attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and behavioral intention of hypnotic use, as well as the Hypnotic-Use Urge Scale (HUS) to measure their craving for hypnotics. They were then contacted through phone approximately three months later to assess their hypnotic use. Hierarchical regression showed that perceived behavioral control was the most significant determinant for behavioral intention of hypnotic use. Behavioral intention, in turn, can predict the frequency of hypnotic use after three months. However, this association was moderated by hypnotic craving. The association was lower among the participants with higher cravings for hypnotic use. The findings suggest that the patients' beliefs about their control over sleep and daily life situations, and their craving for hypnotics should be taken into consideration in the management of hypnotic use. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have been approved to improve outcomes and reduce recurrence. Biomarkers for patient selection are needed. In this paper, we proposed an inflammasome-based risk score (IRS) system for prognosis and prediction of ICI response for early-stage NSCLC. Cox regression analysis was used to identify significant genes (from 141 core inflammasome genes) for overall survival (OS) in a microarray discovery cohort (n = 467). IRS was established and independently validated by other datasets (n = 1320). We evaluated the inflammasome signaling steps based on five gene sets, which were IL1B-, CASP-1-, IL18-, GSDMD-, and inflammasome-regulated genes. Gene set enrichment analysis, the Kaplan–Meier curve, receiver operator characteristic with area under curve (AUC) analysis, and advanced bioinformatic tools were used to confirm the ability of IRS in prognosis and classification of patients into ICI responders and non-responders. A 30-gene IRS was developed, and it indicated good risk stratification at 10-year OS (AUC = 0.726). Patients were stratified into high- and low-risk groups based on optimal cutoff points, and high-risk IRS had significantly poorer OS and relapse-free survival. In addition, the high-risk group was characterized by an inflamed immunophenotype and higher proportion of ICI responders. Furthermore, expression of SLAMF8 was the key gene in IRS and indicated good correlation with biomarkers associated with immunotherapy. Currently, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is still an ongoing and constant medical issue, and with upcoming new variants, vaccinations and boosters remain important. The safety of vaccines in patients after kidney transplantation is an essential problem, with thrombosis being one of the severe side effects and vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) revealed as the most commonly reported syndrome for thromboembolic events following COVID-19 vaccination. Here, we present two cases of kidney transplantation developing pulmonary embolism post-Moderna vaccination within 30 days without thrombocytopenia. The first case was a 52-year-old man with history of type II diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia who had had cadaveric kidney transplantation in September 2008, where right leg swelling with claudication occurred 23 days after the second Moderna vaccination. The second case was a 57-year-old man with history of type II diabetes and glaucoma who had had living-related kidney transplantation in April 2013 and then complained of exertional dyspnea 26 days after administration of the third Moderna vaccine. The advantages of vaccination even in immunocompromised patients far outweigh the disadvantages, although clinicians must understand the risks of deep-vein thrombosis or even pulmonary embolism for such patients, which might not occur after just the first vaccination. Intergranular corrosion is the most common corrosion phenomenon in Fe-based alloys. To better understand the mechanism of intergranular corrosion, the influence of grain boundaries on Fe-H2O interfacial corrosion was studied using molecular dynamics simulation based on a new Fe-H2O reaction force field potential. It is found that the corrosion rate at the polycrystalline grain boundary is significantly faster than that of twin crystals and single crystals. By the analysis of stress, it can be found that the stress at the polycrystalline grain boundary and the sigma5 twin grain boundary decreases sharply during the corrosion process. We believe that the extreme stress released at the grain boundary will promote the dissolution of Fe atoms. The formation of vacancies on the Fe matrix surface will accelerate the diffusion of oxygen atoms. This leads to the occurrence of intergranular corrosion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Vegetation restoration can affect the process of soil organic carbon (SOC) decomposition, but how this effect is related to soil moisture and temperature remains uncertain. Thus, we performed an incubation of 120 days using soils of degraded land, plantation forest, and secondary natural forest, at two levels of temperature under two moisture levels. We found that the amount of cumulative SOC decomposition in the plantation and secondary natural forest soil was ca. 11.7 times higher than that in the soil from degraded land. Higher soil moisture and temperature treatment increased SOC decomposition in the plantation and secondary natural forest soils. However, in the soil from degraded land, higher soil moisture did not increase SOC decomposition, and higher temperature only increased SOC decomposition in the 60%WHC treatment. The amount of cumulative SOC decomposition was positively correlated with soil MBC and DOC content. The responses of SOC decomposition and the decomposability of DOC to moisture and temperature along the vegetation restoration gradient were highly consistent. Furthermore, in the 60%WHC treatment group, the temperature sensitivity (Q10) of SOC decomposition declined with vegetation restoration age increase. Higher soil moisture did not affect Q10 in the plantation and secondary natural forest soil, but increased Q10 in the soil from degraded land. Our results indicate that higher soil temperature and moisture would stimulate SOC decomposition, but it is highly dependent on labile carbon supply and microbial metabolic activity along the vegetation restoration gradient. In this paper, thermoreflectance microscopy was used to measure the high spatial resolution temperature distribution of the p-GaN HEMT under high power density. The maximum temperature along the GaN channel was located at the drain-side gate edge region. It was found that the thermal resistance (Rth) of the p-GaN HEMT device increased with the increase of channel temperature. The Rth dependence on the temperature was well approximated by a function of Rth~Ta (a = 0.2). The three phonon Umklapp scattering, point mass defects and dislocations scattering mechanisms are suggested contributors to the heat transfer process for the p-GaN HEMT. The impact of bias conditions and gate length on the thermal characteristics of the device was investigated. The behaviour of temperature increasing in the time domain with 50 µs pulse width and different drain bias voltage was analysed. Electron beam welding (EBW) is widely used to weld titanium alloy parts such as aero-engine casing and blades. The surface quality after EBW has a significant influence on the aero-engine performance of those parts. We propose a surface treatment method with grinding on a titanium alloy electron beam weld. We analyze the influence of grinding parameters on the characteristics of the grinding surface. The experiment shows the applicability of ground surface by belt grinding on EBW and its impact on aero-engine performance. After belt grinding, both the welded surface and the surface connected with the substrate are smooth. The extra height of the seam was less than 0.2 mm, and the surface roughness (Ra) of the weld after grinding can be less than 0.98 μm. The microstructure of the weld after grinding was analyzed. Two types of bionic shapes were obtained, a sawtooth shape with a width of 40 μm and a height of 10 μm and a wavy shape with a width of 20 μm and a height of 3 μm.
