Background/Objectives: Target tetra detachable coils (TTDCs) aid in achieving effective framing during the coil embolization of small intracranial aneurysms by maintaining a tetrahedral conformation within the aneurysm sac. We aimed to report the initial experience of patients treated for intracranial aneurysms using TTDCs, with a specific focus on efficacy and safety. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 41 patients who underwent the coil embolization of intracranial aneurysms sized ≤10 mm with TTDCs between April and May 2023. Post-procedural angiographic and clinical results were reviewed. Results: Of the 46 aneurysms (45 unruptured and 1 ruptured), 33 (71.7%) were treated with the stent-assisted technique and 13 (28.3%) using the simple coil embolization technique. Post-procedural angiography showed complete occlusion in 41 aneurysms (89.1%), neck remnants in 1 (2.2%), and residual aneurysms in 4 (8.7%). The mean packing density was 34.7% (19.3–46.8%), with TTDC coil length comprising a mean of 88.5% of the total coil length. No major device- or procedure-related complications were observed. During the follow-up, 40 aneurysms (93.0%) demonstrated complete occlusion, while neck remnants were observed in 1 (2.3%), and residual aneurysms in 2 (4.7%). No cases of recanalization were observed. Conclusions: The TTDC is a safe and effective device for the endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms. Background: Flow diversion has significantly improved the management of cerebral aneurysms. Technological advancements and increased clinical experience over the past decade have led to better outcomes and fewer complications. This study provides updated results and examines the factors that influence the success of flow diversion. Methods: We reviewed records of 115 patients with 121 intracranial aneurysms treated from July 2014 to August 2023. All patients had unruptured aneurysms in the anterior and posterior circulation. Results: Complete aneurysm occlusion was achieved in 72.7% of cases, with a complication rate of 9.1%. Significant predictors of complete occlusion included aneurysm diameter (OR = 0.89, 95% CI 0.82–0.97, p = 0.009) and the presence of incorporated branches (OR = 0.22, 95% CI 0.08–0.59, p = 0.003). Cox analysis identified neck diameter (HR = 0.92, 95% CI 0.87–0.98, p = 0.009) and incorporated branch (HR = 0.40, 95% CI 0.24–0.69, p = 0.001) as significant for occlusion. Multivariable analysis identified aneurysm diameter (OR = 1.21, 95% CI 1.09–1.37, p = 0.001) as significant for safety outcomes. Improved outcomes were observed in recent treatments, with higher occlusion rates (79.7% vs. 61.7%, p = 0.050) and lower complication rates (4.1% vs. 14.9%, p = 0.011). Conclusions: Enhanced technical proficiency, better devices, and refined patient selection have significantly improved the efficacy and safety of flow diversion for cerebral aneurysms. Premature loss of root canal-treated primary teeth has long been a concern in dentistry. To address this, researchers developed a sodium iodide-based root canal-filling material as an alternative to traditional iodoform-based materials. The goal of this study was to improve the physicochemical properties of the sodium iodide-based material to meet clinical use standards. To resolve high solubility issues in the initial formulation, researchers adjusted component ratios and added new ingredients, resulting in a new paste called L5. This study compared L5 with L0 (identical composition minus lanolin) and Vitapex as controls, conducting physicochemical and antibacterial tests. Results showed that L5 met all ISO 6876 standards, demonstrated easier injection and irrigation properties than Vitapex, and exhibited comparable antibacterial efficacy to Vitapex, which is currently used clinically. This paper presents a circuit for detecting and protecting against short circuits in E-mode gallium nitride high-electron-mobility transistors (GaN HEMTs) and analyzes the protection performance of the circuit. GaN HEMTs possess fast switching characteristics that enable high efficiency and power density in power conversion devices. However, these characteristics also pose challenges in protecting against short circuits and overcurrent situations. The proposed method detects short-circuit events by monitoring an instantaneous drop in the DC bus voltage of a circuit with GaN HEMTs applied and uses a bandpass filter to prevent the malfunction of the short-circuit protection circuit during normal switching and ensure highly reliable operation. Using this method, the short-circuit detection time of E-mode GaN HEMTs can be reduced to 257 ns, successfully protecting the device without malfunctions even in severe short-circuit situations occurring at high DC link voltages. Calcium silicate-based cement (CSC) is a pharmaceutical agent that is widely used in dentistry. This bioactive material is used for vital pulp treatment due to its excellent biocompatibility, sealing ability, and antibacterial activity. Its drawbacks include a long setting time and poor maneuverability. Hence, the clinical properties of CSC have recently been improved to decrease its setting time. Despite the widespread clinical usage of CSC, there is no research comparing recently developed CSCs. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to compare the physicochemical, biological, and antibacterial properties of four commercial CSCs: two powder–liquid mix types (RetroMTA® [RETM]; Endocem® MTA Zr [ECZR]) and two premixed types (Well-Root™ PT [WRPT]; Endocem® MTA premixed [ECPR]). Each sample was prepared using circular Teflon molds, and tests were conducted after 24 h of setting. The premixed CSCs exhibited a more uniform and less rough surface, higher flowability, and lower film thickness than the powder–liquid mix CSCs. In the pH test, all CSCs showed values between 11.5 and 12.5. In the biological test, cells exposed to ECZR at a concentration of 25% showed greater cell viability, but none of the samples showed a significant difference at low concentration (p > 0.05). Alkaline phosphatase staining revealed that cells exposed to ECZR underwent more odontoblast differentiation than the cells exposed to the other materials; however, no significant difference was observed at a concentration of 12.5% (p > 0.05). In the antibacterial test, the premixed CSCs showed better results than the powder–liquid mix CSCs, and ECPR yielded the best results, followed by WRPT. In conclusion, the premixed CSCs showed improved physical properties, and of the premixed types, ECPR exhibited the highest antibacterial properties. For biological properties, none of these materials showed significant differences at 12.5% dilution. Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill. has been traditionally used as a medicine for bronchial tube ailments in Northeast Asia. Recently, the demand for S. chinensis has increased for use as food and medicine because of the lignans found in its fruits. However, the species germplasm collection has rarely been studied to evaluate their phenotypic traits in Korea. In this study, 96 accessions of S. chinensis were collected in South Korea for two years to evaluate their phenotypes, and principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis were conducted. Significant variations among the measured phenotypic traits were observed. The total bunch weight produced from a single tree ranged from 109 to 5844 g; the contents in schizandrin, gomisin A, and gomisin N—three types of lignan—were 2.2–14.5, 0.9–9.8, and 2.1–12.2 mg/g, respectively. Gomisin N positively correlated with flowering traits (flowering start, period, and peduncle length) and leaf characteristics (leaf width and length). PCA and cluster analyses revealed four clusters among the 96 S. chinensis accessions. This study aimed to investigate the impact of different viscosities of silicone oil on the physicochemical, pre-clinical usability, and biological properties of a sodium iodide paste. Six different paste groups were created by mixing therapeutic molecules, sodium iodide (D30) and iodoform (I30), with calcium hydroxide and one of the three different viscosities of silicone oil (high (H), medium (M), and low (L)). The study evaluated the performance of these groups, including I30H, I30M, I30L, D30H, D30M, and D30L, using multiple parameters such as flow, film thickness, pH, viscosity, and injectability, with statistical analysis (p < 0.05). Remarkably, the D30L group demonstrated superior outcomes compared to the conventional iodoform counterpart, including a significant reduction in osteoclast formation, as examined through TRAP, c-FOS, NFATc1, and Cathepsin K (p < 0.05). Additionally, mRNA sequencing showed that the I30L group exhibited increased expression of inflammatory genes with upregulated cytokines compared to the D30L group. These findings suggest that the optimized viscosity of the sodium iodide paste (D30L) may lead to clinically favorable outcomes, such as slower root resorption, when used in primary teeth. Overall, the results of this study suggest that the D30L group shows the most satisfactory outcomes, which may be a promising root-filling material that could replace conventional iodoform-based pastes. Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is an outstanding dental material for arresting and preventing caries, but some drawbacks, such as high flowability due to low viscosity and cytotoxicity to the pulp, have been reported. To overcome these problems, copper-doped bioactive glass nanoparticles (CuBGns) were combined with SDF. After synthesis, CuBGns were examined by physical analysis and added in SDF at different weight/volume% (SDF@CuBGn). After assessing physical properties (viscosity and flowability) of SDF@CuBGn, physicochemical properties (morphology before and after simulated body fluid (SBF) immersion and ion release) of SDF@CuBGn-applied hydroxyapatite (HA) discs were evaluated. Biological properties were further evaluated by cytotoxicity test to pulp stem cells and antibacterial effect on cariogenic organisms (Streptococcus mutans and Staphylococcus aureus). Combining CuBGns in SDF increased the viscosity up to 3 times while lowering the flowability. More CuBGns and functional elements in SDF (Ag and F) were deposited on the HA substrate, even after SBF immersion test for 14 days, and they showed higher Cu, Ca, and Si release without changing F and Ag release. Cell viability test suggested lower cytotoxicity in SDF@CuBGn-applied HA, while CuBGns in SDF boosted antibacterial effect against S. aureus, ~27% in diameter of agar diffusion test. In conclusion, the addition of CuBGn to SDF enhances viscosity, Ag and F deposition, and antibacterial effects while reducing cell toxicity, highlighting the role of bioactive CuBGns for regulating physical and biological effects of dental materials. Therapeutic iodoform (CHI3) is commonly used as a root-filling material for primary teeth; however, the side effects of iodoform-containing materials, including early root resorption, have been reported. To overcome this problem, a water-soluble iodide (NaI)-incorporated root-filling material was developed. Calcium hydroxide, silicone oil, and NaI were incorporated in different weight proportions (30:30:X), and the resulting material was denoted DX (D5~D30), indicating the NaI content. As a control, iodoform instead of NaI was incorporated at a ratio of 30:30:30, and the material was denoted I30. The physicochemical (flow, film thickness, radiopacity, viscosity, water absorption, solubility, and ion releases) and biological (cytotoxicity, TRAP, ARS, and analysis of osteoclastic markers) properties were determined. The amount of iodine, sodium, and calcium ion releases and the pH were higher in D30 than I30, and the highest level of unknown extracted molecules was detected in I30. In the cell viability test, all groups except 100% D30 showed no cytotoxicity. In the 50% nontoxic extract, D30 showed decreased osteoclast formation compared with I30. In summary, NaI-incorporated materials showed adequate physicochemical properties and low osteoclast formation compared to their iodoform-counterpart. Pulp regeneration has recently attracted interest in modern dentistry. However, the success ratio of pulp regeneration is low due to the compromising potential of stem cells, such as their survival, migration, and odontoblastic differentiation. Stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED) have been considered a promising tool for regenerative therapy due to their ability to secrete multiple factors that are essential for tissue regeneration, which is achieved by minimally invasive procedures with fewer ethical or legal concerns than those of other procedures. The aim of this study is to investigate the potency of SHED-derived conditioned media (SHED CM) on dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), a major type of mesenchymal stem cells for dental pulp regeneration. Our results show the promotive efficiency of SHED CM on the proliferation, survival rate, and migration of DPSCs in a dose-dependent manner. Upregulation of odontoblast/osteogenic-related marker genes, such as ALP, DSPP, DMP1, OCN, and RUNX2, and enhanced mineral deposition of impaired DPSCs are also observed in the presence of SHED CM. The analysis of SHED CM found that a variety of cytokines and growth factors have positive effects on cell proliferation, migration, anti-apoptosis, and odontoblast/osteogenic differentiation. In this study, an estimation method for human height is proposed using color and depth information. Color images are used for deep learning by mask R-CNN to detect a human body and a human head separately. If color images are not available for extracting the human body region due to low light environment, then the human body region is extracted by comparing between current frame in depth video and a pre-stored background depth image. The topmost point of the human head region is extracted as the top of the head and the bottommost point of the human body region as the bottom of the foot. The depth value of the head top-point is corrected to a pixel value that has high similarity to a neighboring pixel. The position of the body bottom-point is corrected by calculating a depth gradient between vertically adjacent pixels. Two head-top and foot-bottom points are converted into 3D real-world coordinates using depth information. Two real-world coordinates estimate human height by measuring a Euclidean distance. Estimation errors for human height are corrected as the average of accumulated heights. In experiment results, we achieve that the estimated errors of human height with a standing state are 0.7% and 2.2% when the human body region is extracted by mask R-CNN and the background depth image, respectively. Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) severely reduces rice grain yield, significantly affects grain quality, and leads to substantial economic loss. In this study, we aimed to characterize the physicochemical properties and processing quality of the Garumi 2 flour rice variety under PHS conditions and compare them with those of the Seolgaeng, Hangaru, Shingil, and Ilpum rice varieties and the Keumkang wheat variety. Analysis of the molecular structure of starch revealed uniform starch granules, increased proportions of short-chain amylopectin in DP 6–12 (51.0–55.3%), and enhanced crystallinity (30.7–35.7%) in rice varieties for flour compared with the Ilpum cooking rice variety. PHS significantly altered the starch structure and gelatinization properties of Garumi 2. It also caused surface pitting and roughness in Garumi 2 starch granules and decreased their crystallinity. This paper considers a multi-period supplier selection and order allocation problem for a green supply chain system that consists of a single buyer and multiple heterogeneous suppliers. The buyer sells multiple products to end customers and periodically replenishes each item's inventory using a periodic inventory control policy. The periodic inventory control policy used by the buyer starts every period with an order size determination of each item and the subsequent supplier selection to fulfill the orders. Because each supplier in the system is different from other suppliers in the types of carrying items, delivery distance, item price, and quantity discount schedule, the buyer's problem becomes a complicated optimization problem. For the described order size and supplier selection problem of the buyer, we propose a nonlinear integer programming model and develop two different algorithms to enhance the usability of the model in a real business environment with a large amount of data. The algorithms are developed to considerably cut computational time and at the same time to generate a good feasible solution to a given supplier selection and order allocation problem. Computational experiments that were conducted to test the efficiency of the algorithms showed that they can cut as much as 99% of the computational time and successfully find feasible solutions, deviating not more than 3.4% from the optimal solutions. This paper presents a tightly regulated multi-output isolated converter that employs only an independently regulated synchronous Single-Switched Post-Regulator (SSPR). The proposed converter is a highly accurate single-ended secondary side post-regulator based on a Series Resonant Converter (SRC); furthermore, it has a voltage-doubler characteristic. The proposed post-regulator requires only one auxiliary switch, in contrast with a bulky and expensive non-isolated DC–DC converter. Moreover, the added voltage-doubler can tightly regulate the slave output current. In addition, the voltage-doubler can improve electromagnetic interference characteristics and reduce switching losses arising from the Zero Current Switching (ZCS) operation of all power switches. Recently, as global warming has become a major issue, many companies have increased their efforts to control carbon emissions in green supply chain management (GSCM) activities. This paper deals with the multi-item replenishment problem in GSCM, from both economic and environmental perspectives. A single buyer orders multiple items from a single supplier, and simultaneously considers carbon cap-and-trade under limited storage capacity and limited budget. In this case we can apply a can-order policy, which is a well-known multi-item replenishment policy. Depending on the market characteristics, we develop two mixed-integer programming (MIP) models based on the can-order policy. The deterministic model considers a monopoly market in which a company fully knows the market information, such that both storage capacity and budget are already determined. In contrast, the fuzzy model considers a competitive or a new market, in which case both of those resources are considered as fuzzy numbers. We performed numerical experiments to validate and assess the efficiency of the developed models. The results of the experiments showed that the proposed can-order policy performed far better than the traditional can-order policy in GSCM. Product demand forecasting plays a vital role in supply chain management since it is directly related to the profit of the company. According to companies' concerns regarding product demand forecasting, many researchers have developed various forecasting models in order to improve accuracy. We propose a hybrid forecasting model called GA-GRU, which combines Genetic Algorithm (GA) with Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU). Because many hyperparameters of GRU affect its performance, we utilize GA that finds five kinds of hyperparameters of GRU including window size, number of neurons in the hidden state, batch size, epoch size, and initial learning rate. To validate the effectiveness of GA-GRU, this paper includes three experiments: comparing GA-GRU with other forecasting models, k-fold cross-validation, and sensitive analysis of the GA parameters. During each experiment, we use root mean square error and mean absolute error for calculating the accuracy of the forecasting models. The result shows that GA-GRU obtains better percent deviations than other forecasting models, suggesting setting the mutation factor of 0.015 and the crossover probability of 0.70. With the ever-growing technology development, high-tech products such as mobile phones, computers, electromagnetic devices and smart devices are facing high design and production modification requirements with relatively shorter life cycles. For instance, every forthcoming smart phone goes out of production in a shorter period after its launch, followed by its next generation. The design of high-tech products requires high investments in smart and automated manufacturing technology to ensure higher production efficiency. For high-tech products with short life spans, the manufacturing performance-quality variable is an important design parameter that affects system reliability, production efficiency and manufacturing costs. Major performance-quality factors of a manufacturing system which affect productivity and reliability of the manufacturing process are discussed in this research. The study investigates an integrated smart production maintenance model under stochastic manufacturing reliability for technology dependent demand and variable production rate. The smart unit production cost is a function of manufacturing reliability and controllable production rate, as a manufacturing system can be operated at different production rates within designed limits μ ϵ [ μ m i n , μ m a x ] . Manufacturing reliability is increased through investment in smart manufacturing technology and resources. The integrated smart production maintenance model is formulated under general failure and repair time distributions and the optimal production maintenance policy is investigated under specific failure and repair time distributions. A mathematical model is developed to optimize the manufacturing quality-performance parameter, variable production rate, per unit technology investment and production lot size. The total cost function is optimized through the Khun–Tucker method. This paper demonstrates a 3D microlithography system where an array of 5 mm Ultra Violet-Light Emitting Diode (UV-LED) acts as a light source. The unit of the light source is a UV-LED, which comes with a length of about 8.9 mm and a diameter of 5 mm. The whole light source comprises 20 × 20 matrix of such 5 mm UV-LEDs giving a total number of 400 LEDs which makes it a very favorable source with a large area for having a batch production of the desired microstructures. This light source is able to give a level of precision in microfabrication which cannot be obtained using commercial 3D printers. The whole light source performs continuous rotational movement once it is turned on. This can also move up and down in a vertical direction. This multidirectional light source also comprises a multidirectional sample holder. The light source teaming up with the multidirectional sample holder highly facilitates the process of fabrication of a huge range of 3D structures. This article also describes the different levels of characterization of the system and demonstrates several fabricated 3D microstructures including high aspect ratio vertical micro towers, twisted turbine structures, triangles, inclined pillar 'V' structures, and hollow horn structures as well. High efficiency and the power factor of power converters, are very important factors which can improve power system quality. In particular, research on improving low efficiency and the power factor at light-load conditions is essential. A boost power factor correction (PFC) is most commonly used in home appliances, with several operations being at light-loads; the critical conduction mode (CRM) control, fixed ON-time control, and valley detection technique are mainly applied to PFC control. However, these control schemes have the following problems: (1) low efficiency, due to sudden increase in switching frequency at light-loads; and (2) low power factor, due to switching ON-time limitation. This paper presents a new valley detection method that can actively extend the fixed ON-time to overcome these problems. Furthermore, a new valley point detection circuit and an ON-time extension signal generation circuit are proposed and described in detail. The superiority of the proposed method is demonstrated via comparison with two existing CRM PFC control methods, namely fixed ON-time (conventional#1) and existing valley detection (conventional#2) methods. Experimental results at 20% load demonstrate that the proposed method shows an efficiency improvement of 2.1%, compared with the fixed ON-time strategy; and a power factor improvement of 34.9%, compared with the existing valley detection strategy. The short material lifetime of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) technology is a major obstacle to the development of economically feasible, highly efficient, and durable devices for commercial applications. TADF devices are also hampered by insufficient operational stability. In this paper, we report the design, synthesis, and evaluation of new TADF molecules possessing a sterically twisted skeleton by interlocking donor and acceptor moieties through a C–C bond. Compared to C–N-bond TADF molecules, such as CPT2, the C–C-bond TADF molecules showed a large dihedral angle increase by more than 30 times and a singlet–triplet energy-gap decrease to less than 0.22 eV because of the steric hindrance caused by the direct C–C bond connection. With the introduction of a dibenzofuran core structure, devices comprising BMK-T317 and BMK-T318 exhibited a magnificent display performance, especially their external quantum efficiencies, which were as high as 19.9% and 18.8%, respectively. Moreover, the efficiency roll-off of BMK-T318 improved significantly (26.7%). These results indicate that stability of the material can be expected through the reduction of their singlet–triplet splitting and the precise adjustment of dihedral angles between the donor–acceptor skeletons. We consider a buyer's decision problem of sustainable supplier selection and order allocation (SSS & OA) among multiple heterogeneous suppliers who sell multiple types of items. The buyer periodically orders items from chosen suppliers to refill inventory to preset levels. Each supplier is differentiated from others by the types of items supplied, selling price, and order-related costs, such as transportation cost. Each supplier also has a preset requirement for minimum order quantity or minimum purchase amount. In the beginning of each period, the buyer constructs an SSS & OA plan considering various information from both parties. The buyer's planning problem is formulated as a mathematical model, and an efficient algorithm to solve larger instances of the problem is developed. The algorithm is designed to take advantage of the branch-and-bound method, and the special structure of the model. We perform computer experiments to test the accuracy of the proposed algorithm. The test result confirmed that the algorithm can find a near-optimal solution with only 0.82 percent deviation on average. Background and Objective: The MTHFR gene encodes the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase known to be involved in the homocysteine-methionine pathway. It has been reported that the deficiency of MTHFR activity may cause hyperhomocysteinemia which results in adverse pregnancy outcomes. Previous studies reported a correlation between the MTHFR gene polymorphisms (677 T/C and 1298 A/C) and lower MTHFR activity and its association with preterm birth in various populations. Since these results were conflicting, we analyzed the genetic association of MTHFR gene 677 T/C and 1298 A/C polymorphisms with preterm birth in Korean women., Materials and Methods: The subjects for case-control study were collected a total of 226 Korean women (98 preterm-birth patients and 128 controls). Genotype frequency differences between the case and the control were assessed using chi-square tests. Mann-Whitney t-test was used to estimate the effects of 1298 A/C genotype on clinicopathological characteristics (systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, birth weight, and gestational age at delivery) in preterm-birth patients., Results: Our results showed that the MTHFR 677 C/T polymorphism was significantly associated with preterm-birth patients in the analysis of genotype frequency (P=0.044) and the over-dominant model (OR=0.54; 95% CI, 0.320-0.920; P=0.023). The recessive model showed a marginal trend toward significance (OR=0.47; 95% CI, 0.220-1.010; P=0.046). The 1298 A/C polymorphism was also associated with reduced preterm-birth risk in the recessive model (P=0.032). In the correlation analysis, the 1298 C allele was significantly associated with increasing of gestational age at delivery in preterm-birth patients (P=0.034)., Conclusions: Our findings suggested that the MTHFR gene 677 C/T and 1298 A/C polymorphisms might have protective effects for preterm birth in the Korean women., (Copyright © 2018 The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.
