Sensor miniaturization offers significant advantages, including enhanced SoC integration efficiency, reduced cost, and lightweight design. While the roll-to-roll printed electronics fabrication process is advantageous for the mass production of sensors compared to the traditional MEMS technology, producing sensors that require air gap-based 3D structures remains challenging. This study proposes an integration of roll-to-roll gravure printing with a transferring and bonding method for touch sensor fabrication. Unlike previously reported methods for sacrificial layer removal, this approach prevents stiction issues, thus enabling sensor miniaturization and providing the flexibility to select materials that minimize sensitivity degradation during scaling. For the lower part of the sensor, Ag and BaSO4 were roll-to-roll gravure-printed on a flexible PET substrate to form the bottom electrode and dielectric layer, followed by BaSO4 spin coating on the sensor's anchor area to form a spacer. For the upper part, a water-soluble PVP sacrificial layer was roll-to-roll gravure-printed on another flexible PET substrate, followed by spin coating Ag and SU-8 to form the top electrode and the structural layer, respectively. The sacrificial layer of the upper part was removed with water to delaminate the top electrode and structural layer from the substrate, then transferred and bonded onto the spacer of the lower part. Touch sensors of three different sizes were fabricated, and their performances were comparatively analyzed along with that of an epoxy resin-based sensor, demonstrating that our sensor attained miniaturization while achieving relatively high sensitivity. In this study, the anti-inflammatory effect of the hot water extract of Endarachne binghamiae (EB-WE), a type of marine brown algae, was investigated in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells and an acute lung injury (ALI) mouse model induced by intranasal LPS administration. Treatment with EB-WE significantly inhibited NO and pro-inflammatory cytokine (TNF-a and IL-6) production in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. In mRNA analysis, the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, COX-2, and iNOS mRNAs, was down-regulated by EB-WE treatment. The phosphorylation of MAPK, IkB, and PI3K/AKT molecules responsible for signal pathways during inflammation in LPS-stimulated macrophages was also significantly inhibited by EB-WE. In an in vivo model for ALI, oral administration of EB-WE significantly reduced the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-a, IL-1b, and IL-6) and chemokines (MCP-1, CXC-16, CXCL1, and TARC) in serum or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of mice. Similarly to the results in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells, treatment with EB-WE significantly inhibited intracellular signal pathways mediated by MAPK, IkB, and PI3K/AKT in lung tissues of mice with ALI, and also decreased the expression of mRNAs of inflammatory mediators such as TNF-a, IL-6, iNOS, and COX-2. Furthermore, the inhibitory effect of EB-WE on ALI was apparently confirmed in histological examination through lung tissue staining. Taken together, it is clear that EB-WE has potential activity to effectively ameliorate the inflammatory responses in macrophages through down-regulation of MAPK, NF-kB, and PI3K/AKT activation, and suppress acute lung injury induced by LPS. Light is a vital regulator of photosynthesis, energy production, plant growth, and morphogenesis. Although these key physiological processes are well understood, the effects of light quality on the pigment content, oxidative stress, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, antioxidant defense systems, and biomass yield of plants remain largely unexplored. In this study, we applied different light-emitting diode (LED) treatments, including white light, red light, blue light, and a red+blue (1:1) light combination, to evaluate the traits mentioned above in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.). Fluorescence staining showed that red light significantly triggered the oxidative stress indicators compared to blue and white light, while the combined red and blue light treatment significantly reduced the ROS (O2•−, H2O2) intensity in alfalfa seedlings. Interestingly, the combined light treatment significantly boosted the seed germination rate (%), maximum photochemical quantum yield of PSII (Fv/Fm), leaf greenness (SPAD score), photosynthetic pigment levels (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and carotenoids), and plant biomass yield in alfalfa seedlings. The red and/or combined (red+blue) light treatments significantly regulated antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT, APX, and GR) and the expression of genes related to the ascorbate–glutathione (AsA-GSH) pathway, including monodehydroascorbate reductase (MsMDHAR), dehydroascorbate reductase (MsDHAR), ascorbate peroxidase (MsAPX), and glutathione reductase (MsGR). These results indicate that light quality is crucial for regulating the morphological, physiological, and molecular traits linked to alfalfa improvement. These findings suggest a new approach to enhancing the adaptation, as well as the morphological and agronomic yield, of alfalfa and forage legumes through light-quality-mediated improvement. Ishige okamurae (I. okamuare), an edible brown alga, is rich in isophloroglucin A (IPA) phlorotannin compounds and is effective in preventing diseases, including diabetes. We evaluated its anti-glycation ability, intracellular reactive oxygen species scavenging activity, inhibitory effect on the accumulation of intracellular MGO/MGO-derived advanced glycation end products (AGE), and regulation of downstream signaling pathways related to the AGE–receptor for AGEs (RAGE) interaction. IPA (0.2, 1, and 5 μM) demonstrated anti-glycation ability by inhibiting the formation of glucose-fructose-BSA-derived AGEs by up to 54.63% compared to the untreated control, reducing the formation of irreversible cross-links between MGO-derived AGEs and collagen by 67.68% and the breaking down of existing cross-links by approximately 91% (p < 0.001). IPA protected cells from MGO-induced oxidative stress by inhibiting intracellular MGO accumulation (untreated cells: 1.62 μg/mL, MGO treated cells: 25.27 μg/mL, and IPA 5 μM: 11.23 μg/mL) (p < 0.001) and AGE generation and inhibited MGO-induced renal cell damage via the downregulation of MGO-induced RAGE protein expression (relative protein expression levels of MGO treated cells: 9.37 and IPA 5 μM:1.74) (p < 0.001). Overall, these results suggest that IPA has the potential to be utilized as a useful natural agent for the prevention and management of AGE-related diabetic nephropathy, owing to its strong anti-glycation activity. In structures manufactured using 3D concrete printing, cracks can easily propagate along the interface between printed layers. Therefore, it was necessary to determine the interlayer bond strength. In this study, direct shear and tensile tests were performed to determine the interlayer bond stability of the 3DCP members. To confirm the appropriateness of the mix proportion used to fabricate the specimens, the open time available for printing was identified via a mixing test, and the extrudability and buildability were verified via a printing test. In addition, direct shear and tensile tests were performed using the specimen manufacturing method (i.e., mold casting and 3D printing) and printing time gap (PTG) between the laminated layers as key test variables. The interlayer bond strengths of the specimens, according to the variables obtained from the test results, were compared and analyzed based on the interfacial shear strength standards presented in the current structural codes. In the direct shear test, failure occurred at the interlayers of all the specimens, and the interlayer bond strength tended to decrease with increasing PTG. In addition, the interlayer bond strength of the direct shear specimens exceeded the interfacial shear strength suggested by current structural codes. In contrast, in the direct tensile test, interlayer surface failure occurred only in some specimens, and there was no distinct change in the interlayer bond strength owing to PTG. Simple Summary: The development of various molecular techniques has led to the introduction of a new classification for biliary tract cancer and a better understanding of the clinicopathological features of the disease. Furthermore, as new diagnostic modalities and research findings have been published, they enable accurate diagnoses, differentiations, and clinical assessments based on the characteristics of each subtype. This article reviews the current imaging and histologic diagnostic techniques along with future perspectives on molecular diagnosis, to approach precision medicine for biliary tract cancer. Biliary tract cancers (BTCs), including intrahepatic, perihilar, and distal cholangiocarcinomas, as well as gallbladder cancer, are a diverse group of cancers that exhibit unique molecular characteristics in each of their anatomic and pathological subtypes. The pathological classification of BTCs compromises distinct growth patterns, including mass forming, periductal infiltrating, and intraductal growing types, which can be identified through gross examination. The small-duct and large-duct types of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma have been recently introduced into the WHO classification. The presentation of typical clinical symptoms, as well as the extensive utilization of radiological, endoscopic, and molecular diagnostic methods, is thoroughly detailed in the description. To overcome the limitations of traditional tissue acquisition methods, new diagnostic modalities are being explored. The treatment landscape is also rapidly evolving owing to the emergence of distinct subgroups with unique molecular alterations and corresponding targeted therapies. Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a leading gastrointestinal disease that causes hospitalization. Initial management in the first 72 h after the diagnosis of AP is pivotal, which can influence the clinical outcomes of the disease. Initial management, including assessment of disease severity, fluid resuscitation, pain control, nutritional support, antibiotic use, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in gallstone pancreatitis, plays a fundamental role in AP treatment. Recent updates for fluid resuscitation, including treatment goals, the type, rate, volume, and duration, have triggered a paradigm shift from aggressive hydration with normal saline to goal-directed and non-aggressive hydration with lactated Ringer's solution. Evidence of the clinical benefit of early enteral feeding is becoming definitive. The routine use of prophylactic antibiotics is generally limited, and the procalcitonin-based algorithm of antibiotic use has recently been investigated to distinguish between inflammation and infection in patients with AP. Although urgent ERCP (within 24 h) should be performed for patients with gallstone pancreatitis and cholangitis, urgent ERCP is not indicated in patients without cholangitis. The management approach for patients with local complications of AP, particularly those with infected necrotizing pancreatitis, is discussed in detail, including indications, timing, anatomical considerations, and selection of intervention methods. Furthermore, convalescent treatment, including cholecystectomy in gallstone pancreatitis, lipid-lowering medications in hypertriglyceridemia-induced AP, and alcohol intervention in alcoholic pancreatitis, is also important for improving the prognosis and preventing recurrence in patients with AP. MT-102 is a new anti-inflammatory agent derived from Juglans mandshurica and Isatis indigotica. Its therapeutic potential is hindered by low aqueous solubility, impacting its in vivo efficacy. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a self-microemulsifying drug delivery system (SMEDDS) for MT-102 to enhance its oral efficacy in treating ulcerative colitis. Solubility assessment in different oils, surfactants, and cosurfactants led to a SMEDDS formulation of MT-102 using Capmul MCM, Tween 80, and propylene glycol. Based on a pseudoternary phase diagram, the optimal SMEDDS composition was selected, which consisted of 15% Capmul MCM, 42.5% Tween 80, and 42.5% propylene glycol. The resulting optimized SMEDDS (SMEDDS-F1) exhibited a narrow size distribution (177.5 ± 2.80 nm) and high indirubin content (275 ± 5.58 µg/g, a biomarker). Across an acidic to neutral pH range, SMEDDS-F1 showed rapid and extensive indirubin release, with dissolution rates approximately 15-fold higher than pure MT-102. Furthermore, oral administration of SMEDDS-F1 effectively mitigated inflammatory progression and symptoms in a mouse model of ulcerative colitis, whereas pure MT-102 was ineffective. SMEDDS-F1 minimized body weight loss (less than 5%) without any significant change in colon length and the morphology of colonic tissues, compared to those of the healthy control group. In addition, oral administration of SMEDDS-F1 significantly inhibited the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-α. Background and Objectives: Acute cholangitis may be fatal, particularly in elderly patients. According to the Tokyo Guidelines 2018, those aged ≥75 years are classified as moderate (Grade II) severity. However, it has not been established whether age itself is the deciding factor of poor outcomes. We studied the impact of old age (≥75 years) on the mortality and morbidity of acute cholangitis due to choledocholithiasis. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively examined 260 patients with calculous acute cholangitis who had undergone biliary drainage. Patients were divided into two groups: elderly (≥75 years) and non-elderly (<75 years). We aimed to compare organ dysfunction, in-hospital mortality, intensive care unit (ICU) hospitalization, and the severity of acute cholangitis. Results: Of 260 patients, 134 (51.5%) were in the elderly group and 126 (48.5%) were in the non-elderly group. The mean age was 72.3 ± 14.4 years, and 152 (58.5%) were men. The elderly patients showed a higher incidence of shock (12.7% vs. 4.8%, p = 0.029), respiratory dysfunction (7.5% vs. 0%, p = 0.002), and renal dysfunction (8.2% vs. 0.8%, p = 0.006) than the non-elderly patients. The overall in-hospital mortality rate was 2.7%, with no significant differences between the elderly and the non-elderly (4.5% vs. 0.8%, p = 0.121). The incidence of severe acute cholangitis was significantly higher in the elderly group (26.9% vs. 9.5%, p < 0.001). However, there was no significant difference in the rates of ICU hospitalization (9.7% vs. 4%, p = 0.088) and lengths of hospital stay (LOS) (8.3 d vs. 7.1 d, p = 0.086). Conclusions: No difference was observed in the in-hospital mortality, ICU hospitalization, or LOS between the elderly (≥75 years) and the non-elderly (<75 years) with calculous acute cholangitis. Emerging contaminants are being detected at a high frequency, posing significant environmental and human health challenges. This study aimed to investigate the potential of using commercial granular activated carbon for adsorbing nine aqueous emerging contaminants (carbamazepine, phenacetin, pentoxifylline, norfloxacin, iprobenfos, isoprothiolane, metolachlor, tebuconazole, and hexaconazole). The adsorption study involved employing kinetic and isotherm models, using various concentrations of emerging contaminants and sorbents in a batch system. Additionally, the study explored the correlation between the characteristics of emerging contaminants and their adsorption values, which displayed a relatively linear relationship. While some previous papers have evaluated the performance of one or two substances, there is a lack of research on the adsorption mechanisms of all nine aqueous emerging contaminants. Therefore, the findings from this study on the adsorption potential of granular activated carbon can serve as a valuable foundation for further investigations into its effectiveness in adsorbing emerging contaminants. Krill oil (KO) shows promise as a natural marine-derived ingredient for improving skin health. This study investigated its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-wrinkle, and moisturizing effects on skin cells and UVB-induced skin photoaging in hairless mice. In vitro assays on HDF, HaCaT, and B16/F10 cells, as well as in vivo experiments on 60 hairless mice were conducted. A cell viability assay, diphenyl-1-picryhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity test, elastase inhibition assay, procollagen content test, MMP-1 inhibition test, and hyaluronan production assay were used to experiment on in vitro cell models. Mice received oral KO administration (100, 200, or 400 mg/kg) once a day for 15 weeks and UVB radiation three times a week. L-Ascorbic acid (L-AA) was orally administered at 100 mg/kg once daily for 15 weeks, starting from the initial ultraviolet B (UVB) exposures. L-AA administration followed each UVB session (0.18 J/cm2) after one hour. In vitro, KO significantly countered UVB-induced oxidative stress, reduced wrinkles, and prevented skin water loss by enhancing collagen and hyaluronic synthesis. In vivo, all KO dosages showed dose-dependent inhibition of oxidative stress-induced inflammatory photoaging-related skin changes. Skin mRNA expressions for hyaluronan synthesis and collagen synthesis genes also increased dose-dependently after KO treatment. Histopathological analysis confirmed that krill oil (KO) ameliorated the damage caused by UVB-irradiated skin tissues. The results imply that KO could potentially act as a positive measure in diminishing UVB-triggered skin photoaging and address various skin issues like wrinkles and moisturization when taken as a dietary supplement. Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the primary cause of mortality worldwide and imposes a significant social burden on many countries. Methods: This study assessed the health and economic benefits of omega-3 associated with CVD. The meta-analysis estimated the risk ratio (RR) and absolute risk reduction (ARR), and the economic impact was calculated using direct and indirect costs related to CVD treatments in Korean adults. Results: A total of 33 studies were included in the meta-analysis on CVD outcomes, with 80,426 participants in the intervention group and 80,251 participants in the control group. The meta-analysis determined a significant reduction in omega-3 in CVD (RR = 0.92, 95% CI: 0.86~0.97) and ARR (1.48%). Additionally, the subgroup analysis indicated that higher doses and the long-term consumption of omega-3 could further enhance these effects. After applying ARR from meta-analysis to the target population of about 1,167,370 in 2021, the Republic of Korea, it was estimated that omega-3 consumption could result in an economic benefit of KRW 300 billion by subtracting the purchase expenses of omega-3 supplements from the total social cost savings. Migraine is a neurovascular disorder that affects approximately 12% of the global population. While its exact causes are still being studied, researchers believe that nociceptive neurons in the trigeminal ganglia play a key role in the pain signals of migraine. These nociceptive neurons innervate the intracranial meninges and convey pain signals from the meninges to the thalamus. Targeting nociceptive neurons is considered promising due to their accessibility and distinct molecular profile, which includes the expression of several transient receptor potential (TRP) channels. These channels have been linked to various pain conditions, including migraine. This review discusses the role and mechanisms of nociceptive neurons in migraine, the challenges of current anti-migraine drugs, and the evidence for well-studied and emerging TRP channels, particularly TRPC4, as novel targets for migraine prevention and treatment. Simple Summary: This study aimed to identify the role of radiotherapy (RT) in the treatment of thymic carcinoma as well as the optimal RT target volume. A total of 116 patients who received multimodal treatment including RT with or without surgery or chemotherapy were included. The RT target volume was defined as the tumor bed or gross tumor with margin, and selective irradiation of the nodal area was performed when involved. The 5-year local recurrence-free survival rate was 94.7%. Overall, 53 recurrences were observed, of which distant metastasis was the most common. No isolated infield or marginal failures were observed. No infield nodal failure occurred among the patients who had initial node metastases and received RT including the nodal areas. A high local control rate was achieved with the addition of RT. A target volume confined to the tumor bed or gross tumor plus margin with the involved lymph node stations seems reasonable. Introduction: We aimed to identify the role of radiotherapy (RT) in the treatment of thymic carcinoma as well as the optimal RT target volume. Materials and Methods: This single-institution retrospective study included 116 patients diagnosed with thymic carcinoma between November 2006 and December 2021 who received multimodal treatment including RT with or without surgery or chemotherapy. Seventy-nine patients (68.1%) were treated with postoperative RT, 17 patients (14.7%) with preoperative RT, 11 patients (9.5%) with definitive RT, and nine patients (7.8%) with palliative RT. The target volume was defined as the tumor bed or gross tumor with margin, and selective irradiation of the regional nodal area was performed when involved. Results: With a median follow-up of 37.0 (range, 6.7–174.3) months, the 5-year overall survival (OS), progression-free survival, and local recurrence-free survival rates were 75.2%, 47.7% and 94.7%, respectively. The 5-year OS was 51.9% in patients with unresectable disease. Overall, 53 recurrences were observed, of which distant metastasis was the most common pattern of failure (n = 32, 60.4%) after RT. No isolated infield or marginal failures were observed. Thirty patients (25.8%) who had lymph node metastases at the initial diagnosis had regional nodal areas irradiated. There was no lymph node failure inside the RT field. A tumor dimension of ≥5.7 cm (hazard ratio [HR] 3.01; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.25–7.26; p = 0.030) and postoperative RT (HR 0.20; 95% CI 0.08–0.52; p = 0.001) were independently associated with OS. Intensity-modulated-RT-treated patients developed less overall toxicity (p < 0.001) and esophagitis (p < 0.021) than three-dimensional-conformal-RT-treated patients. Conclusions: A high local control rate was achieved with RT in the primary tumor sites and involved lymph node area in the treatment of thymic carcinoma. A target volume confined to the tumor bed or gross tumor plus margin with the involved lymph node stations seems reasonable. The formation of advanced glycation end products (AGE) is linked to the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy. The aim of this work was to assess the therapeutic potential and underlying mechanism of action of dieckol (DK), isolated from Ecklonia cava, on renal damage induced by methylglyoxal (MGO) in mouse glomerular mesangial cells. The antiglycation properties of DK were evaluated using ELISA. We conducted molecular docking, immunofluorescence analysis, and Western blotting to confirm the mechanism by which DK prevents AGE-related diabetic nephropathy. DK treatment exhibited antiglycation properties through the inhibition of AGE production, inhibition of cross-linking between AGE and collagen, and breaking of its cross-linking. DK pretreatment exhibited protective effects on renal cells by suppressing MGO-induced intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, intracellular MGO and AGE accumulation, activation of the apoptosis cascade and apoptosis-related protein expression, activation of receptor for AGE (RAGE) protein expression, and suppression of the glyoxalase system. Furthermore, DK exhibited a stronger binding affinity for RAGE than AGE, which was confirmed as exerting a competitive inhibitory effect on the AGE–RAGE interaction. Lumbar central spinal stenosis (LCSS) is a common disorder that causes disability and pain in the elderly. It causes pain in the radicular leg. Recently, transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) has been widely used to control radicular leg pain caused by LCSS. However, in cases of severe LCSS, drugs injected using TFESI cannot spread into the spinal canal and would have less therapeutic effects than in mild LCSS. To compensate for this limitation of TFESI, we injected steroids and botulinum toxin type A into the bilateral facet joints, evaluated their effects, and compared them with those of TFESI. One hundred patients with severe LCSS were included in the study and randomly allocated to either the facet injection (FI) or TFESI group. For 50 patients in the FI group, 30 mg (40 mg/mL) of triamcinolone with 50 IU of botulinum toxin type A mixed with a 1 mL solution of 100 mL of 50% dextrose water and 30 mL of 4% lidocaine were administered into the bilateral facet joints under fluoroscopy. For 50 patients in the TFESI group, 30 mg (40 mg/mL) of triamcinolone with 0.8 mL of 2% lidocaine and 2.5 mL of 50% dextrose water was injected bilaterally under fluoroscopy. Radicular leg pain (measured with a numeric rating scale) and pain-related disability (measured with the modified Oswestry Disability Index) due to severe LCSS were significantly reduced after facet joint injection. The therapeutic effects were greater after facet joint injection than after bilateral TFESI. Background and Objectives: Although laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the preferred treatment method in patients who experience typical biliary pain with or without gallstones, medical treatment has not been extensively studied. Rowachol is a potent choleretic agent, comprising six cyclic monoterpenes. This study aimed to investigate the clinical improvement and changes in gallbladder ejection fraction (GBEF) by Rowachol treatment in patients with typical biliary pain. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 138 patients with typical biliary pain who underwent cholescintigraphy from July 2016 to April 2022. We included patients who received Rowachol for more than 2 months and underwent follow-up GBEF measurements. Finally, we analyzed pre- and post-treatment symptoms and GBEF. GBEF was calculated using the fatty meal-stimulated cholescintigraphy. Results: This retrospective observational study included 31 patients; their median age was 46.0 (range, 26.0–72.7) years, and 22 (71.0%) were female. Overall, 9 (29.0%) patients had gallbladder stones or sludges (maximum size: 2 mm) on initial transabdominal ultrasonography. During a median follow-up of 23.3 months, the symptoms of 21 (67.7%) patients were resolved after a median Rowachol treatment of 10.0 months. The mean GBEF was significantly improved after Rowachol treatment (initial cholescintigraphy: 42.6% ± 16.2%; follow-up cholescintigraphy: 53.0% ± 18.1%, p = 0.012). In patients with a GBEF ≤35% (n = 9), Rowachol significantly increased the GBEF from 21.3% ± 8.3% to 49.1% ± 20.7% (p = 0.008). As part of the environmentally friendly policy of ships, active research is being conducted on energy storage systems (ESS) for ships. This ESS has a major influence on determining the propulsion and operation system of the ship in the future. A separate space must be provided for the ESS, but small and medium-sized ships often require it to be located at the bottom of the ship to make use of the available space. If the ESS is located at the bottom of the ship, the slamming impact load should be considered, and a study of the vibrations generated during the slamming impact is required. Ships are subjected to various environmental effects while sailing. Among them, the risk factor caused by waves is one of the direct risk factors for the operation of the ship. This slamming phenomenon affects not only ships but also offshore structures, and is a risk factor that can cause structural damage as well as damage to human life. Therefore, it is necessary to study the slamming load, and a method is needed to address it with a dynamic load instead of a static load. In order to reflect the slamming load in the design as a dynamic load rather than the equivalent hydrostatic pressure, which is a static load, it is necessary to study the elastic effect of the structure. The plate thickness is calculated by considering the equivalent design pressure based on the measured slamming pressure peak, and several experimental and theoretical studies have been conducted to estimate the exact value of the peak pressure. However, according to recent studies, structural damage is affected not only by the peak pressure but also by the peak width in the time interval of the peak pressure. Research on slamming has been ongoing for a long time, but structural damage due to slamming is still being reported steadily. In order to understand the slamming phenomenon and reflect it in the structural design formula, high-quality experimental results are required. The slamming phenomenon occurs in a very short time. In order to obtain high-quality experimental results for this slamming phenomenon, numerous experimental variables such as experimental equipment setting, appropriate sensor selection, and data measurement and storage capability must be carefully considered. Normally the slamming load can be expressed in terms of peak pressure, peak width, and duration of the pressure, and the maximum pressure and the idealized pressure value (impulse) are applied to the structure. This slamming pressure is affected by the shape and natural period of the structure and shows the largest pressure value when the dead-rise angle is 3° to 10°. In this study, the test was performed by repeatedly dropping into the water using structural bottom angles of 0°, 3°, 10°, and 20° to the free surface of the water. This study was conducted to develop a lipid/clay-based solid dispersion (LSD) formulation to enhance the dissolution and oral bioavailability of poorly soluble curcumin. Krill oil and aminoclay were used as a lipid and a stabilizer, respectively, and LSD formulations of curcumin were prepared by an antisolvent precipitation method combined with freeze-drying process. Based on the dissolution profiles, the optimal composition of LSD was determined at the weight ratio of curcumin: krill oil: aminoclay of 1:5:5 in the presence of 0.5% of D-α-tocopherol polyethylene glycol succinate. The structural and morphological characteristics of the LSD formulation were determined using X-ray powder diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, and scanning electron microscopy. Crystalline curcumin was changed to an amorphous form in the LSD formulation. At the pH of acidic to neutral, the LSD formulation showed almost complete drug dissolution (>90%) within 1 h, while pure curcumin exhibited minimal dissolution of less than 10%. Furthermore, the LSD formulation had significantly improved oral absorption of curcumin in rats, where Cmax and AUC of curcumin were 13- and 23-fold higher for the LSD formulation than for the pure drug. Taken together, these findings suggest that the krill oil-based solid dispersion formulation of curcumin effectively improves the dissolution and oral bioavailability of curcumin. Asthma is one of the most common inflammatory diseases of the lung worldwide. There has been considerable progress in recent studies to treat and prevent allergic asthma, however, various side effects are still observed in clinical practice. Six-week-old male BALB/c mice were orally administered with either sword bean pod extracts (SBP; 100 or 300 mg/kg) or dexamethasone (DEX; 5 mg/kg) once daily over 3 weeks, followed by ovalbumin sensitization (OVA/Alum.; intraperitoneal administration, 50 μg/2 mg/per mouse). Scoring of lung inflammation was performed to observe pathological changes in response to SBP treatment compared to OVA/Alum.-induced lung injury. Additionally, inflammatory cytokines were quantified in serum, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), and lung tissue using ELISA and Western blot analyses. SBP treatment significantly reduced the infiltration of inflammatory cells, and release of histamine, immunoglobulin E, and leukotriene in serum and BALF. Moreover, the therapeutic effect of SBP was also assessed to analyze the inflammatory changes in the lung tissues. SBP markedly suppressed the activation of the MAPK signaling pathway and the expression of key inflammatory proteins (e.g., TNF-α) and Th2 type cytokines (IL-5 and IL-13). The frequent occurrence of heat and drought stress can severely reduce agricultural production of field crops. In comparison to a single stress, the combination of both heat (H) and drought (D) further reduce plant growth, survival and yield. This study aimed to explore the transcriptional responses of heat shock protein (HSP) and antioxidant genes under H combined D stress in perennial rye grass (PRG). The results demonstrated that oxidative stress indicators (hydrogen peroxide, lipid peroxidation) significantly increased, particularly in the case of combined H and D treatment, suggesting that oxidative stress-induced damage occurred in plants under the combined stresses. Transcriptional responses of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70), heat shock protein 90-6 (HSP90-6), and the mitochondrial small heat shock protein HSP26.2 (HSP26.2) occurred rapidly, and showed high level of expression particularly under H and D stress. Antioxidant genes including ascorbate peroxidase (APX), glutathione reductase (GR), monodehydroascorbate reductase (MDHAR), dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR), catalase (CAT), copper–zinc superoxide dismutase (Cu/ZnSOD), peroxidase (POD), ferredoxin–thioredoxin (FTR), thioredoxin (Trx), 2-cysteine peroxiredoxin (2-Cys Prx) showed response to combined H and D, followed by either D or H stress alone in rye grass. An interactome map revealed the close partnership of these heat shock protein genes and antioxidant genes, respectively. These candidate genes were predominantly linked to stress responses and antioxidant defense in plants. Allergy is an immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated process, and its incidence and prevalence have increased worldwide in recent years. Therapeutic agents for allergic diseases are continuously being developed, but side effects follow when used for a long-term use. Therefore, treatments based on natural products that are safe for the body are urgently required. Sword bean (Canavalia gladiata) pod (SBP) has been traditionally used to treat inflammatory diseases, but there is still no scientific basis for its anti-allergic effect. Accordingly, this study investigates the anti-allergic effect and its mechanism of SBP in vitro and in vivo. SBP reduced the nitric oxide production and decreased mRNA and protein expression of inflammatory mediates (inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)), and inhibited the phosphorylation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), a major signaling molecule in the inflammatory response. Additionally, SBP extract treatment inhibited phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/mammalian target of rapamycin (PI3K/mTOR) signaling activity to further inhibit degranulation and allergy mediator generation and control the balance of Th1/Th2 cells, which can induce an allergic reaction when disrupted. Furthermore, the SBP extract exhibited anti-allergic effects in anti-dinitrophenyl IgE-induced RBL-2H3 cells and ovalbumin-treated mice. Objectives: This research aims to apply an auditory display for tumor imaging using fluorescence data, discuss its feasibility for in vivo tumor evaluation, and check its potential for assisting enhanced cancer perception. Methods: Xenografted mice underwent fluorescence imaging after an injection of cy5.5-glucose. Spectral information from the raw data was parametrized to emphasize the near-infrared fluorescence information, and the resulting parameters were mapped to control a sound synthesis engine in order to provide the auditory display. Drag–click maneuvers using in-house data navigation software-generated sound from regions of interest (ROIs) in vivo. Results: Four different representations of the auditory display were acquired per ROI: (1) audio spectrum, (2) waveform, (3) numerical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and (4) sound itself. SNRs were compared for statistical analysis. Compared with the no-tumor area, the tumor area produced sounds with a heterogeneous spectrum and waveform, and featured a higher SNR as well (3.63 ± 8.41 vs. 0.42 ± 0.085, p < 0.05). Sound from the tumor was perceived by the naked ear as high-timbred and unpleasant. Conclusions: By accentuating the specific tumor spectrum, auditory display of fluorescence imaging data can generate sound which helps the listener to detect and discriminate small tumorous conditions in living animals. In this study, thirty-eight isoflavone derivatives were comprehensively identified and quantified from the raw, steamed and fermented seeds of four selected soybean cultivars based on UPLC-DAD-QToF/MS results with reference to the previously reported LC-MS library and flavonoid database, and summarized by acylated group including glucosides (Glu), malonyl-glucosides (Mal-Glu), acetyl-glucosides (Ac-Glu), succinyl-glucosides (Suc-Glu) and phosphorylated conjugates (Phos) in addition to aglycones. Among them, Suc-Glu and Phos derivatives were newly generated due to fermentation by B. subtilis AFY-2 (cheonggukjang). In particular, Phos were characterized for the first time in fermented soy products using Bacillus species. From a proposed roadmap on isoflavone-based biotransformation, predominant Mal-Glu (77.5–84.2%, raw) decreased rapidly by decarboxylation and deesterification into Ac-Glu and Glu (3.5–8.1% and 50.0–72.2%) during steaming, respectively. As fermentation continued, the increased Glu were mainly succinylated and phosphorylated as well as gradually hydrolyzed into their corresponding aglycones. Thus, Suc-Glu and Phos (17.3–22.4% and 1.5–5.4%, 36 h) determined depending on cultivar type and incubation time, and can be considered as important biomarkers generated during cheonggukjang fermentation. This study aimed to develop a solid dispersion (SD) of MT-102, a new anti-inflammatory agent, to improve its oral bioavailability. The ternary SD formulations of MT-102 (a poorly soluble extract of Isatis indigotica and Juglans mandshurica) were prepared using a solvent evaporation method with various drug/excipient ratios. Following that, the effectiveness of various SDs as an oral formulation of MT-102 was investigated using indirubin as a marker component. By forming SDs with hydrophilic polymers, the aqueous solubility of indirubin was significantly increased. SD-F4, containing drug, poloxamer 407 (P407), and povidone K30 (PVP K30) at a 1:2:2 weight ratio, exhibited the optimal dissolution profiles in the acidic to neutral pH range. Compared to pure MT-102 and a physical mixture, SD-F4 increased indirubin's dissolution from MT-102 by approximately 9.86-fold and 2.21-fold, respectively. Additionally, SD-F4 caused the sticky extract to solidify, resulting in improved flowability and handling. As a result, compared to pure MT-102, the oral administration of SD-F4 significantly improved the systemic exposure of MT-102 in rats. Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) play a vital role in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications. Methylglyoxal (MGO), one of the major precursors of AGEs, is a highly reactive dicarbonyl compound that plays an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy. This study was designed to evaluate the therapeutic potential of phlorotannin-rich Ecklonia cava extract (ECE) on MGO-induced diabetic nephropathy in in vitro models using mouse glomerular mesangial cells. ECE showed anti-glycation activity via breaking of AGEs-collagen cross-links and inhibition of AGEs formation and AGE-collagen cross-linking formation. The renoprotective effects were determined by assessing intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and MGO accumulation, cell apoptosis, and the Nrf-2/ARE signaling pathway. MGO-induced renal damage, intracellular ROS production level, and MGO-protein adduct accumulation were significantly decreased by pretreating ECE. Moreover, ECE pretreatment exhibited preventive properties against MGO-induced dicarbonyl stress via activation of the Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway and reduction of RAGE protein expression in mouse glomerular mesangial cells. Collectively, these results indicated potential anti-glycation properties and prominent preventive effects of ECE against MGO-induced renal damage. Along with the recent advance in wireless networking and data processing technologies, demands for low latency communication (LLC) are increasing in a wide variety of future-driven autonomous applications such as a smart factory, self-driving cars, and so on. The fifth generation of cellular mobile communications (5G) will cover this need as one of three key capacities in their usage scenarios: enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine type communication (mMTC), and ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC). The 5G systems are composed of mobile devices and various internet of things (IoT) devices for sensing, acting, and information services; they configure diverse networking topologies such as direct mobile-to-mobile, also known as device-to-device (D2D). In the 5G D2D network systems, the network topologies are easily broken because of the mobile devices such as smartphones, IoT devices, and so on. Thus, for the highly flexible and extensible 5G D2D network systems, mobility support for the mobile devices is necessary. In this paper, we first explore the mobility issues in beyond 5G D2D. Since there are static and mobile elements in the 5G application domains such as the smart factory, overall mobility would lead to highly frequent topology reconfiguration or connectivity reconstruction. Thus, latency-related problems derived from topology changes and connectivity failures due to the mobility are addressed. To handle the problems, a fast connectivity construction scheme, denoted by LMK, is proposed with a deep neural network dealing with learning on radio signal information in order to achieve the LLC. Sound event localization and detection (SELD) is a joint task that unifies sound event detection (SED) and direction-of-arrival estimation (DOAE). The task has become such a popular topic that it was introduced into the challenge on Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events (DCASE) Task3 in 2019. In this paper, we propose a method based on dual cross-modal attention (DCMA) and parameter sharing to simultaneously detect and localize sound events. In particular, the DCMA-based decoder commonly used for multiple predictions efficiently learns the associations between SED and DOAE features by exchanging SED and DOAE information in the process of attention, in addition to the encoder with parameter sharing. Furthermore, acoustic features that have not been usually used in the SELD task are additionally adopted to improve the performance, and data augmentation techniques of the mixup to simulate polyphonic events and channel rotation for spatial augmentation are conducted for this task. Experimental results demonstrate that our efficient model using one common decoder block based on the DCMA to predict multiple events in the track-wise output format is effective for the SELD task with up to three overlapping events. Seaweeds are a major source of functional foods, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals. Seaweed can be sustainably harvested through callus culture, which yields homogenous cells and bioproducts under controlled conditions. Callus induction is a crucial early step in callus culture and is influenced by several abiotic factors. This review aims to discuss the influence of abiotic factors on callus induction in seaweeds, a prerequisite for the application and development of seaweed callus culture. We used three online databases (Springer, Science Direct, and Wiley) to search for the literature on seaweed callus induction published between 1987 and 2020. Thirty-three articles for review were identified and analyzed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The analysis covers 56 seaweed species (3% Chlorophyta, 44% Phaeophyta, and 53% Rhodophyta) under various abiotic treatments, including light irradiance (23%), temperature (15%), media type (21%), plant growth regulators (26%), gelling conditions (9%), and other factors (6%). The information on these abiotic factors is intended to be a practical reference and to foster the further study of the callus culture of seaweed. Cardiovascular diseases are closely related to hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, and hyperlipidemia. Many studies have reported that an unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle are critical factors that enhance these diseases. Recently, many bioactive compounds isolated from marine seaweeds have been studied for their benefits in improving human health. In particular, several unique bioactive metabolites such as polyphenols, polysaccharides, peptides, carotene, and sterol are the most effective components responsible for these activities. This review summarizes the current in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studies related to the protective effects of bioactive compounds isolated from seaweeds against cardiovascular disorders, including anti-diabetic, anti-hypertensive, anti-hyperlipidemia, and anti-obesity effects. In the current design codes, the effective compressive strength can be used to reflect decrease in load-transfer performance when upper/lower columns and slabs have different concrete compressive strengths. In this regard, this study proposed a method that can accurately estimate the effective compressive strengths by using an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The ANFIS is an algorithm that introduces a learning system that corrects errors into a fuzzy theory and has widely been used to solve problems with complex mechanisms. In order to constitute the ANFIS algorithm, 50 data randomly extracted from 75 existing test datasets were used in training, and 25 were used for verification. It was found that analysis using the ANFIS model provides a more accurate evaluation of the effective compressive strengths of corner and edge columns than do the equations specified in the current design codes. In addition, parametric studies were performed using the ANFIS model, and a simplified equation for calculating the effective compressive strength was proposed, so that it can be easily used in practice. With the development of the fourth industrial technology, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing, developed countries including the U.S. are investigating the efficiency of national defense, the public sector and national innovation, and constructing the infrastructure for cloud computing environments through related policies. The Republic of Korea is enacting the related legislation and considering the fourth industrial technology in various fields. Particularly, it is considering the adaptation of the cloud to the command and control system in the national defense sector; hence, related research and pilot projects are being conducted. However, if the existing information system is converted to a cloud computing system by introducing IoT devices, existing security requirements cannot solve problems related to the security vulnerabilities of cloud computing. Therefore, to build a cloud-based secure command and control system, it is necessary to derive additional cloud computing-related security requirements that are lacking in the existing security requirements, and to build a secure national defense command and control system architecture based upon it. Background and objectives: Acute cholangitis can be life-threatening if not recognized early. We investigated the predictive value of the neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in acute cholangitis. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 206 patients with acute cholangitis who underwent biliary drainage. The severity of acute cholangitis was graded according to the Tokyo 2018 guideline. Patients were dichotomized according to the acute cholangitis severity (mild/moderate vs. severe), the presence of shock requiring a vasopressor/inotrope, and blood culture positivity. The baseline NLR, white blood cell (WBC) count, and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were compared between groups. Results: The severity of acute cholangitis was graded as mild, moderate, or severe in 71 (34.5%), 107 (51.9%), and 28 (13.6%) patients, respectively. Ten patients (4.8%) developed shock. Positive blood culture (n = 50) was observed more frequently in severe acute cholangitis (67.9% vs. 17.4%, p < 0.001). The NLR was significantly higher in patients with severe cholangitis, shock, and positive blood culture. The area under the curve (AUC) for the NLR, WBC, and CRP for severe acute cholangitis was 0.87, 0.73, and 0.74, respectively. The AUC for the NLR, WBC, and CRP for shock was 0.81, 0.64, and 0.67, respectively. The AUC for the NLR, WBC, and CRP for positive blood culture was 0.76, 0.64, and 0.61, respectively; the NLR had greater power to predict disease severity, shock, and positive blood culture. The optimal cut-off value of the baseline NLR for the prediction of severe acute cholangitis, shock, and positive blood culture was 15.24 (sensitivity, 85%; specificity, 79%), 15.54 (sensitivity, 80%; specificity, 73%), and 12.35 (sensitivity, 72%; specificity, 70%), respectively. The sequential NLR values from admission to 2 days after admission were significantly higher in patients with severe cholangitis and shock. Preserving the quality of freshly cut fruits is essential for food marketing. This study aimed to evaluate the anti-browning effect of rice bran extract (RE) added to a vitamin C mixture (VCM), which is widely used as an anti-browning agent. Freshly cut apples were prepared using the following processes: raw material selection, washing, cutting, soaking, and packaging. A comparison of cut apples soaked with 3% VCM combined with 1% RE (VR) and cut apples treated with 4% VCM showed that the L* and BI values had similar levels. After 12 days of storage, the amount of yeast and mold in cut apples after 4% VCM and VR treatment was 6.15 × 104 ± 0.48 CFU/mL and 4.25 × 103 ± 0.15 CFU/mL, respectively, and the degree of bacterial growth was reduced by VR treatment. On day 12 of storage, the activities of polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and peroxidase (POD) were similar in the 4% VCM and VR groups. The polyphenol content was significantly higher in the VR group (121.0 ± 2.2) than in the 4% VCM group (76.9 ± 2.2). These results indicate that VR treatment for freshly cut apples is a potential alternative to 4% VCM treatment, with an effective anti-browning capacity and improved polyphenol content. Platycodon grandiflorum (PG) is known as a high-potential material in terms of its biological activity. The objective of this report is to provide chromatographic and mass fragment ion data of 38 simultaneously identified saponins, including novel compounds, by analyzing them through ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-QToF/MS). In so doing, we investigated their diverse conditions, including morphological parts (stems, roots, buds, and leaves), peeling (or not), and blanching of PG. The total contents of individual saponins indicated an order of roots (containing peel, 1674.60 mg/100 g, dry weight) > buds (1364.05) > roots (without peel, 1058.83) ≈ blanched roots (without peel, 945.17) ≈ stems (993.71) ≈ leaves (881.16). When considering three types of aglycone, the platycodigenin group (55.04 ~ 68.34%) accounted for the largest proportion of the total content, whereas the platycogenic acid A group accounted for 17.83 ~ 22.61%, and the polygalacic acid group represented 12.06 ~ 22.35%. As they are classified as major compounds, novel saponins might be utilized for their role in healthy food for human consumption. Additionally, during blanching, the core temperature of PG was satisfied with the optimal condition, thus activating the enzymes related to biotransformation. Furthermore, through the use of this comprehensive data, additional studies related to buds, as well as roots or the characterization of individual saponins, can be conducted in a rapid and achievable manner. Background and objectives: Factors predictive of severe non-iatrogenic acute pancreatitis have been investigated, but few studies have evaluated prognostic markers of severe post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) pancreatitis (PEP). The neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been studied for predicting severe acute pancreatitis. We examined the predictive value of NLR in patients with PEP. Materials and Methods: From January 2012 to August 2021, 125 patients who developed PEP were retrospectively evaluated. The NLR was measured before, and on days 1 and 2 after, ERCP. PEP was categorized as mild, moderate, or severe according to consensus guidelines, based on the prolongation of planned hospitalization. Patients were divided into two groups, mild-to-moderate vs. severe PEP. Results: We analyzed 125 patients with PEP, 18 (14.4%) of whom developed severe PEP. The baseline NLR was similar between the two groups (2.26 vs. 3.34, p = 0.499). The severe PEP group had a higher NLR than the mild/moderate PEP group on days 1 (11.19 vs. 6.58, p = 0.001) and 2 (15.68 vs. 5.32, p < 0.001) post-ERCP. The area under the curve of the NLR on days 1 and 2 post-ERCP for severe PEP was 0.75 (95% confidence interval (CI), 0.64–0.86)) and 0.89 (95% CI, 0.81–0.97), respectively; NLR on day 2 had greater power to predict severe PEP. The optimal cutoff value of the NLR on days 1 and 2 after ERCP for prediction of severe PEP was 7.38 (sensitivity, 72%; specificity, 69%) and 8.17 (sensitivity, 83%; specificity, 83%), respectively. In a multivariate analysis, a Bedside Index of Severity in Acute Pancreatitis score ≥3 (odds ratio (OR) 9.07, p = 0.012) and NLR on day 2 > 8.17 (OR 18.29, p < 0.001) were significantly associated with severe PEP. Cyclooxygenase metabolizes dihomo-γ-linolenic acid and arachidonic acid to form prostaglandin (PG) E, including PGE1 and PGE2, respectively. Although PGE2 is well known to play an important role in the development and maintenance of hyperalgesia and allodynia, the role of PGE1 in pain is unknown. We confirm whether PGE1 induced pain using orofacial pain behavioral test in mice and determine the target molecule of PGE1 in TG neurons with whole-cell patch-clamp and immunohistochemistry. Intradermal injection of PGE1 to the whisker pads of mice induced a reduced threshold, enhancing the excitability of HCN channel-expressing trigeminal ganglion (TG) neurons. The HCN channel-generated inward current (Ih) was increased by 135.3 ± 4.8% at 100 nM of PGE1 in small- or medium-sized TG, and the action of PGE1 on Ih showed a concentration-dependent effect, with a median effective dose (ED50) of 29.3 nM. Adenylyl cyclase inhibitor (MDL12330A), 8-bromo-cAMP, and the EP2 receptor antagonist AH6809 inhibited PGE1-induced Ih. Additionally, PGE1-induced mechanical allodynia was blocked by CsCl and AH6809. PGE1 plays a role in mechanical allodynia through HCN2 channel facilitation via the EP2 receptor in nociceptive neurons, suggesting a potential therapeutic target in that PGE1 could be involved in pain as endogenous substances under inflammatory conditions. The functionality of soybeans is an important factor in the selection and utilization of excellent soybean cultivars, and isoflavones are representative functional substances in soybeans, which exhibit effects on antioxidants, estrogen activity, and cancer, and prevent cardiovascular diseases. This study analyzed ABTS, DPPH, estrogen, ER (ER) alpha, UCP-1, and NO inhibition activities in 48 types of soybean cultivars, as well as the relationship with 19 isolated types of individual isoflavone derivatives. Statistical analysis was conducted to find individual isoflavone derivatives affecting physiological activities, revealing the high correlation of three types of derivatives: genistein 7-O-(6″-O-acetyl)glucoside (6″-O-acetylgenistin), genistein 7-O-(2″-O-apiosyl)glucoside, and glycitein. Based on these results, 15 types of soybean cultivars were selected (one control type, seven yellow types, six black types, and one green type), which have both high physiological activities and a high content of individual isoflavone derivatives. In addition, these high correlations were further verified through a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to determine the association between activities, substances, and genetic characteristics. Recently, many disasters have occurred in indoor places. In order to rescue or detect victims within disaster scenes, vital information regarding their existence and location is needed. To provide such information, some studies simply employ indoor positioning systems to identify each mobile device of victims. However, their schemes may be unreliable, since people sometimes drop their mobile devices or put them on a desk. In other words, their methods may find a mobile device, not a victim. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel individual monitoring system based on edge intelligence. The proposed system monitors coexisting states with a user and a smart mobile device through a user state detection mechanism, which could allow tracking through the monitoring of continuous user state switching. Then, a fine-grained localization scheme is employed to perceive the precise location of a user who is with a mobile device. Hence, the proposed system is developed as a proof-of-concept relying on off-the-shelf WiFi devices and reusing pervasive signals. The smart mobile devices of users interact with hierarchical edge computing resources to quickly and safely collect and manage sensing data of user behaviors with encryption by cipher-block chaining, and user behaviors are analyzed via the ensemble paradigm of three machine learning technologies. Iron (Fe) deficiency impairs photosynthetic efficiency, plant growth and biomass yield. This study aimed to reveal the role of nitric oxide (NO) in restoring Fe-homeostasis and oxidative status in Fe-deficient alfalfa. In alfalfa, a shortage of Fe negatively affected the efficiency of root andshoot length, leaf greenness, maximum quantum yield PSII (Fv/Fm), Fe, S, and Zn accumulation, as well as an increase in H2O2 accumulation. In contrast, in the presence of sodium nitroprusside (SNP), a NO donor, these negative effects of Fe deficiency were largely reversed. In response to the SNP, the expression of Fe transporters (IRT1, NRAMP1) and S transporter (SULTR1;2) genes increased in alfalfa. Additionally, the detection of NO generation using fluorescence microscope revealed that SNP treatment increased the level of NO signal, indicating that NO may act as regulatory signal in response to SNP in plants. Interestingly, the increase of antioxidant genes and their related enzymes (Fe-SOD, APX) in response to SNP treatment suggests that Fe-SOD and APX are key contributors to reducing ROS (H2O2) accumulation and oxidative stress in alfalfa. Furthermore, the elevation of Ascorbate-glutathione (AsA-GSH) pathway-related genes (GR and MDAR) Fe-deficiency with SNP implies that the presence of NO relates to enhanced antioxidant defense against Fe-deficiency stress. Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) such as methylglyoxal (MGO) play a vital role in the pathogenesis of nephropathy, a diabetic complication. In the present study, we evaluated the anti-glycation and renal protective properties of Ishige okamurae extract (IOE) against AGE-induced oxidative stress. HPLC analysis confirmed that bioactive phlorotannins such as diphlorethohydroxycarmalol and ishophloroglucin A are predominantly present in IOE. IOE showed strong anti-glycation activities via inhibition of AGE formation, inhibition of AGE–protein cross-linking, and breaking of AGE–protein cross-links. In addition, in vitro studies using mesangial cells demonstrated that IOE effectively suppressed intracellular reactive oxygen species production, intracellular MGO accumulation, and apoptotic cell death by MGO-induced oxidative stress, in addition to regulating the expression of proteins involved in the receptor for AGEs and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/antioxidant response elements (ARE) signaling pathways. AC1497 is an effective dual inhibitor of malate dehydrogenase 1 and 2 targeting cancer metabolism. However, its poor aqueous solubility results in low bioavailability, limiting its clinical development. This study was conducted to develop an effective self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (SNEDDS) of AC1497 to improve its oral absorption. Based on the solubility of AC1497 in various oils, surfactants, and cosurfactants, Capryol 90, Kolliphor RH40, and Transcutol HP were selected as the components of SNEDDS. After testing various weight ratios of Capryol 90 (20–30%), Kolliphor RH40 (35–70%), and Transcutol HP (10–35%), SNEDDS-F4 containing 20% Capryol 90, 45% Kolliphor RH40, and 35% Transcutol HP was identified as an optimal SNEDDS with a narrow size distribution (17.8 ± 0.36 nm) and high encapsulation efficiency (93.6 ± 2.28%). Drug release from SNEDDS-F4 was rapid, with approximately 80% of AC1497 release in 10 min while the dissolution of the drug powder was minimal (<2%). Furthermore, SNEDDS-F4 significantly improved the oral absorption of AC1497 in rats. The maximum plasma concentration and area under the plasma concentration–time curve of AC1497 were, respectively 6.82- and 3.14-fold higher for SNEDDS-F4 than for the drug powder. In conclusion, SNEDDS-F4 with Capryol 90, Kolliphor RH40, and Transcutol HP (20:45:35, w/w) effectively improves the solubility and oral absorption of AC1497. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Spectral efficiency is a major concern for future 6G wireless communication systems. Thus, an appropriate scheme is needed to provide channel capacity improvement for multiple transmitters and receiver-based wireless communication systems without consuming extra resource for communication (e.g., frequency/time/code) or causing interference. Therefore, to fulfill the mentioned requirements for the future 6G wireless network, orbital angular momentum-based multiple-input-multiple-output (OAM-MIMO) multiplexing technique is incorporated with the receive antenna shift keying (RASK) technique in this study (termed as the OAM-MIMO-RASK scheme). OAM-MIMO-RASK can transfer multiple symbols from multiple transmitters to different receivers simultaneously by using multiple subchannels using the OAM and RASK techniques without any interference or additional resource (frequency/time/code). The numerical results illustrated that the proposed OAM-MIMO-RASK can achieve almost double capacity than the existing OAM-MIMO scheme and significantly higher capacity than the existing RASK-based scheme for different values of signal-to-noise ratio. Moreover, the simulation result is validated by the theoretical result which is also shown by the numerical result. In addition, due to different normalized distances from the transmitters and receivers, the proposed OAM-MIMO-RASK scheme can achieve almost double capacity than the existing OAM-MIMO scheme by using OAM-MIMO and RASK technique effectively which is also depicted by the numerical results. Following the clinical success of cancer immunotherapies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors blocking B7/CTLA-4 or PD-1/PD-L1 signaling and ongoing numerous combination therapies in the clinic,3 bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) are now emerging as a growing class of immunotherapies with the potential to improve clinical efficacy and safety further. Here, we describe four classes of BsAbs: (a) immune effector cell redirectors; (b) tumor-targeted immunomodulators; (c) dual immunomodulators; and (d) dual tumor-targeting BsAbs. This review describes each of these classes of BsAbs and presents examples of BsAbs in development. We reviewed the biological rationales and characteristics of BsAbs and summarized the current status and limitations of clinical development of BsAbs and strategies to overcome limitations. The field of BsAb-based cancer immunotherapy is growing, and more data from clinical trials are accumulating. Thus, BsAbs could be the next generation of new treatment options for cancer patients. Simple Summary: The energy required for fattening castrated Korean black goats was estimated using the correlation between metabolic energy intake per dietary body weight and average daily gain per dietary body weight. The Y-axis intercept value was the metabolic energy requirement for maintaining the lives of the fattening Korean black goats. It was calculated to be 108.76 kcal/kg BW0.75 (p < 0.05, r2 = 0.6036). Twelve adult (10 months old) castrated Korean black goats, with an average initial body weight of 24.98 ± 3.7 kg, were used in this experiment to determine their maintenance energy requirements. Dry matter intakes (g/d, p = 0.945) were not affected by energy levels, but metabolic energy intake (kcal/d, p < 0.002) and average daily gain (g/d, p < 0.001) were significantly increased at higher energy levels. Nutrient digestibility was similar in the treatments, but crude fat digestibility increased with the addition of protective fat powder (p = 0.001). Background: In this study, we investigated the associations between various systemic and ocular comorbidities and skin cancer, in a nationwide cohort of South Koreans. Method: We reviewed the data of 1,103,302 individuals in the South Korean National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort database from 2002 to 2015. Of these, 1202 individuals diagnosed with skin cancer from 2004 were included in the study group. The control group was matched in a 1:5 ratio based on propensity scores. Results: The prevalence rates of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer increased from 2004 to 2015. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that, among the various systemic conditions, hypertension was significantly associated with skin cancer, while among ocular comorbidities, macular degeneration showed a significant association with skin cancer. Conclusions: This is the first study to demonstrate associations between skin cancer and various systemic and ocular comorbidities. The results suggest that hypertension and macular degeneration may increase the risk of skin cancer development, or vice versa. Simple Summary: The efficacy of the local consolidative therapy in lung cancer has been reported previously, however, those studies described the utility of the radiation therapy rather than of surgery. Furthermore, those studies included either no or few patients with oncogene-driven NSCLC, which has distinct biological properties and treatment options. Surgery is the most reliable method of tumor removal that allows detailed examinations of resected tissue, such as comprehensive genetic analysis. This retrospective study for the first time reports the operative outcomes and the benefit of cytoreductive surgery in TKI-treated cases of oncogene-driven locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC in parallel with the genetic analysis of the tumor. Most patients with oncogene-driven advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) demonstrate recurrence because of the developing targeted therapy resistance. In this retrospective study, we assessed the efficacy of surgical local consolidative treatment by analyzing the operative outcomes and genetic data in 44 patients who underwent pulmonary resection for stage IIIB/C–IV NSCLC after targeted therapy. The initial mutations were in the EGFR (n = 32), ALK (n = 11), and ROS1 (n = 1) genes. The median interval from the initiation of tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy immediately before the surgery to the actual operation was 9.8 months. Operative mortality was absent. Four patients showed complete remission. The median follow-up period after TKI therapy initiation was 23.1 months. The Kaplan–Meier survival analysis showed that the 2-year failure-free survival and overall survival rates from the initiation of TKI were 70.8% and 95.0%, respectively. During the follow-up period, two patients died and 15 suffered from disease progression. Among the 32 patients with EGFR mutations, 12 showed additional mutations, and targeted agents were replaced in nine patients after the operation. Increasing concern over higher frequency extreme weather events is driving a push towards a more resilient built environment. In recent years there has been growing interest in understanding how to evaluate, measure, and improve building energy resilience, i.e., the ability of a building to provide energy-related services in the event of a local or regional power outage. In addition to human health and safety, many stakeholders are keenly interested in the ability of a building to allow continuity of operations and minimize business disruption. Office buildings are subject to significant economic losses when building operations are disrupted due to a power outage. We propose "occupant hours lost" (OHL) as a means to measure the business productivity lost as the result of a power outage in office buildings. OHL is determined based on indoor conditions in each space for each hour during a power outage, and then aggregated spatially and temporally to determine the whole building OHL. We used quasi-Monte Carlo parametric energy simulations to demonstrate how the OHL metric varies due to different building characteristics across different climate zones and seasons. The simulation dataset was then used to develop simple regression models for assessing the impact of ten key building characteristics on OHL. The most impactful were window-to-wall ratio and window characteristics. The regression models show promise as a simple means to assess and screen for resilience using basic building characteristics, especially for non-critical facilities where it may not be viable to conduct detailed engineering analysis. In urban monitoring systems, mobile sensing is imperative to acquire data from sensors and relay them to a cloud server. Mobile devices can be used anytime and anywhere, enabling communication with pervasive sensing in various conditions to obtain the data. Reliable data acquisition has been required in urban monitoring systems from the macroscale to the microscale. However, a broadcast method for the data acquisition process may lead to the increased battery power consumption of mobile devices. Managing the battery power consumption of mobile devices is essential for reliable data acquisition. In this paper, we propose an urban monitoring system with an optimization algorithm in which a cloud server broadcasts a communication request that includes battery power consumption and the data acquisition quantity of mobile devices. Game theoretic optimization is formulated with a decision process. We derive a best response and Nash equilibrium for mobile communication with sensors and a cloud server. A novel class of quinolinol-based dimeric indium complexes (1–6) was synthesized and characterized using 1H and 13C(1H) NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Compounds 1–6 exhibited typical low-energy absorption bands assignable to quinolinol-centered π–π* charge transfer (CT) transition. The emission spectra of 1–6 exhibited slight bathochromic shifts with increasing solvent polarity (p-xylene < tetrahydrofuran (THF) < dichloromethane (DCM)). The emission bands also showed a gradual redshift, with an increase in the electron-donating effect of substituents at the C5 position of the quinoline groups. The absolute emission quantum yields (ΦPL) of compounds 1 (11.2% in THF and 17.2% in film) and 4 (17.8% in THF and 36.2% in film) with methyl substituents at the C5 position of the quinoline moieties were higher than those of the indium complexes with other substituents.
