Masson pine (Pinus massoniana Lamb.) is a tree species that is widely distributed throughout southern China and holds significant economic and ecological value. The main objective of our study was to assess the effects of thinning on aboveground biomass increments and tree diversity in both the overstory and understory. Additionally, the underlying factors and mechanisms responsible for driving changes in biomass increment were analyzed. Four different thinning treatments (control, light thinning, moderate thinning, and heavy thinning) were implemented in 214 plots (~1800 tree ha−1) in three Masson pine forests in Hunan Province, China. A robustly designed experiment was used with over six years of repeated measurements. The differences in biomass increment and tree diversity among the different treatments were compared using repeated measures ANOVAs. The Mantel test was used to determine environmental metrics correlated with biomass increments across tree strata. Structural equation modeling was utilized to explore the multivariate relationships among site environment, tree diversity, and post-treatment biomass increment. The results indicated that thinning overall increased biomass increment, the Shannon index, and the Gini index, while decreasing the Dominance index over time. Moderate thinning (25%–35% of trees removed) was found to promote overstory biomass increment to 9.72 Mg·ha−1·a−1 and understory biomass increment to 1.43 Mg·ha−1·a−1 six years post-thinning, which is significantly higher than that of other treatments. Environmental metrics such as light intensity, soil organic matter, and other soil physiochemical properties were positively correlated with biomass increments, and their effects on the overstory and understory differed. Structural equation modeling revealed that thinning treatments, environmental metrics, tree diversity, and their interactions could be the main drivers for biomass increments across tree strata. Specifically, thinning treatments, light intensity, and tree size diversity (Gini index) had significant effects on overstory biomass increment, while understory species richness (Shannon index) and soil organic matter affected understory biomass increment. In conclusion, moderate thinning is an effective silvicultural treatment for stimulating biomass increments of both the overstory and understory in Masson pine forests in southern China if a middle period (e.g., six years) is considered. Some factors, such as species richness, tree size diversity, and environmental metrics (e.g., light and soil), are suggested for consideration to improve the efficiency of thinning. Reducing resistance to surface friction is challenging in the field of engineering. Natural biological systems have evolved unique functional surfaces or special physiological functions to adapt to their complex environments over centuries. Among these biological wonders, fish, one of the oldest in the vertebrate group, have garnered attention due to their exceptional fluid dynamics capabilities. Fish skin has inspired innovation in reducing surface friction due to its unique structures and material properties. Herein, drawing inspiration from the unique properties of fish scales, a periodic array of fish scales was fabricated by laser ablation on a polished aluminum template. The morphology of the biomimetic fish scale surface was characterized using scanning electron microscopy and a white-light interfering profilometer. Drag reduction performance was measured in a closed circulating water tunnel. The maximum drag reduction was 10.26% at a Reynolds number of 39,532, and the drag reduction performance gradually decreased with an increase in the distance between fish scales. The mechanism of the biomimetic drag reduction surface was analyzed using computational fluid dynamics. Streamwise vortices were generated at the valley of the biomimetic fish scale, replacing sliding friction with rolling friction. These results are expected to provide a foundation for in-depth analysis of the hydrodynamic performance of fish and serve as new inspiration for drag reduction and antifouling. Membrane emulsification technology has garnered increasing interest in emulsion preparation due to controllable droplet size, narrower droplet size distribution, low energy consumption, simple process design and excellent reproducibility. Nevertheless, the pore structure and surface engineering in membrane materials design play a crucial role in achieving high-quality emulsions with high throughput simultaneously. In this work, an oriented interpenetrating capillary network composed of highly aligned and interconnected wood cell lumens has been utilized to fabricate an emulsion membrane. A novel honeycomb porous ZnO layer obtained by a seed prefabrication–hydrothermal growth method was designed to reconstruct wood channel surfaces for enhanced microfluid mixing. The results show that through the unique capillary mesh microstructure of wood, the emulsion droplets were smaller in size, had narrower pore-size distribution, and were easy to obtain under high throughput conditions. Meanwhile, a well-designed ZnO layer could further improve the emulsion quality of a wood membrane, while the emulsifying throughput is still maintained at a higher level. This demonstrates that the convection process of the microfluid in these wood capillary channels was intensified markedly. The calorie and taste choices of food have been shown to be related to the external environment, including music. Previous studies have mostly focused on manipulating basic auditory parameters, with few scholars exploring the impact of complex musical parameters on food selection. This study explored the effects of different kinds of music (classical, rock, jazz, and hip-hop) on food liking based on the calories (high and low) and taste (sweet and salty) using event-related potentials (ERPs). Twenty-four participants (8 males, 16 females) were recruited from Southwest University, China to participate in the food liking task using a Likert seven-point rating and simultaneously recording EEG signals (N2, P2, N3, and LPC). This study used repeated-measures analyses of covariances and found that the score of the high-calorie foods was greater than that of the low-calorie foods. Additionally, results revealed that the score in classical music was greatest for sweet foods, while there was no difference among music kinds in the salty foods. The ERP results showed that P2 amplitudes were greater for sweet foods than those for the salty foods. N2 amplitudes for the salty foods were greater than those for the sweet foods during rock music; in addition, N2 amplitudes during hip-hop music were greatest for sweet foods. However, N2 amplitudes during rock music were the greatest for salty foods. The results also revealed that N2 amplitudes during hip-hop music were greater than those during jazz music. Lilium is a genus of important ornamental plants with many colouring pattern variations. Lilium auratum is the parent of Oriental hybrid lilies. A typical feature of L. auratum is the presence of red-orange special raised spots named papillae on the interior tepals. Unlike the usual raised spots, the papillae are slightly rounded or connected into sheets and usually have hairy tips. To elucidate the potential genes regulating papillae development in L. auratum, we performed high-throughput sequencing of its tepals at different stages. Genes involved in the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway were significantly enriched during the colouration of the papillae, and CHS, F3H, F3′H, FLS, DFR, ANS, and UFGT were significantly upregulated. To identify the key genes involved in the papillae development of L. auratum, we performed weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) and further analysed four modules. In total, 51, 24, 1, and 6 hub genes were identified in four WGCNA modules, MEbrown, MEyellow, MEpurple, and MEred, respectively. Then, the coexpression networks were constructed, and important genes involved in trichome development and coexpressed with anthocyanin biosynthesis genes, such as TT8, TTG1, and GEM, were identified. These results indicated that the papillae are essentially trichomes that accumulate anthocyanins. Finally, we randomly selected 12 hub genes for qRT-PCR analysis to verify the accuracy of our RNA-Seq analysis. Our results provide new insights into the papillae development in L. auratum flowers. The National Standard of China has recommended the typical meteorological year (TMY) method for assessing solar energy resources. Compared with the widely adopted multi-year averaging (MYA) methods, the TMY method can consider the year-to-year variations of weather conditions and characterize solar radiation under climatological weather conditions. However, there are very few TMY-based solar energy assessments on the scale of China. On the national scale, the difference between the TMY and MYA methods, the requirement of the data record length, and the impacts of the selection of meteorological variables on the TMY-based assessment are still unclear. This study aims to fill these gaps by assessing mainland China's solar energy resources using the TMY method and China Meteorological Forcing Dataset. The results show that the data record length could significantly influence annual total solar radiation estimation when the record length is shorter than 30 years. Whereas, the estimation becomes stable when the length is greater or equal to 30 years, suggesting a thirty-year data record is preferred. The difference between the MYA and TMY methods is exhibited primarily in places with modest or low abundance of solar radiation. The difference is nearly independent of the examined data record lengths, hinting at the role of regional-specific weather characteristics. The TMY and MYA methods differ more pronounced when assessing the seasonal stability grade. A total of 7.4% of the area of China experiences a downgrade from the TMY relative to the MYA methods, while a 3.15% area experiences an upgrade. The selection of the meteorological variables has a notable impact on the TMY-based assessment. Among the three meteorological variables examined, wind speed has the most considerable impact on both the annual total and seasonal stability, dew point has the second most significant impact, and air temperature has the least. Atmosphere clearness is the single most essential parameter determining surface solar radiation. However, few studies have investigated the interannual variations in China's atmosphere clearness and the impacts of El Niño–Southern Oscillation on it. This study aims to fill the knowledge gap by calculating the clearness index using the China Meteorological Forcing Dataset version 1.7 and then analyzing the correlations between the interannual anomaly and the Niño-3.4 index. The results show that there is a significantly negative correlation in the southeastern coastal regions, northern Xinjiang, northeastern Xizang, and areas from northern Hebei to middle Inner Mongolia. In these areas, the higher the ENSO index, the lower the clearness index, and, coincidingly, positive precipitation anomalies are reported in previous studies. The impacts of El Niño and La Niña vary with seasons. The ENSO events have generally opposite impacts in the seasons other than summer. El Niño tends to decrease the clearness index, while La Niña tends to decrease the atmosphere clearness in most territories of China. The impacts are different in the places of statistical significance. The negative impacts of El Niño are significant in the southeastern coastal regions of China in winter and in northeast China in autumn. The positive impacts of La Niña are significant in the southwestern and northeastern China in the autumn. In these seasons, ENSO's impacts scale with the strength of the event. Stronger events amplify the magnitude of the anomalies, while the spatial patterns of the anomalies are kept almost invariant. In summer, ENSO's impacts exhibit different characteristics than in the other seasons and between the El Niño and La Niña events. For the El Niño events, the impacts are insignificant in most territories of China, even for the strong ones. La Niña has a larger influence on the summertime clearness than El Niña, and the spatial pattern of the La Niña's impacts varies with the event strength. The anomalies during strong La Niña events have a tripolar pattern with a positive anomaly in south and north China and a negative anomaly in between. The pattern suggests that the relationship between the clearness index and precipitation is different during strong La Niña events. These findings would provide valuable insights into the interannual variations of atmosphere clearness in China and could be clues to further investigation. New building materials (manufactured sand and recycled coarse aggregates) can conserve raw materials and protect the environment. Prefabricated members can shorten the construction time of a structure. To use manufactured sand and recycled coarse aggregate in the preparation of precast member concrete, an economical and practical steam-curing scheme must be developed such that the compressive strength of precast manufactured sand recycled concrete (MRC) meets the requirements for hoisting. The effects of different steam-curing temperatures (standard curing, 40 °C, 50 °C, 60 °C, 70 °C, and 80 °C) on the compressive strength of MRC with three water/binder ratios (W/B) (0.46, 0.42, and 0.38) were studied. In addition, the microstructure of MRC was examined using a scanning electron microscope. The equivalent age–compressive strength model was used to estimate the recycled concrete with manufactured sand. The results showed that the strength of MRC with a water–cement ratio of 0.46, 0.42, and 0.38 reached 33.9, 38.7, and 45.1 MPa, respectively, after 28 days of standard curing. The results also indicated that an increase in the steam-curing temperature had a positive effect on the early compressive strength of MRC and a negative effect on the 28 d compressive strength. This behavior was more obvious for MRC with a low W/B ratio. For MRC with a W/B of 0.46, 0.42, and 0.38, after steam-curing for 6 h, the compressive strength reached 32–65%, 36–70%, and 40–77% of the design strength, respectively. The optimum steam-curing temperatures for MRC with W/B of 0.46, 0.42, and 0.38 were 60 °C, 60 °C, and 50 °C. A decrease in W/B has a negative impact on the accuracy of MRC estimation using the equivalent age–compressive strength model. The maximum deviation of the prediction was within 10%, and the accuracy of the model was acceptable. In this paper, we study the dynamic behavior of an impulse differential chaotic system which can be applied to image encryption. Combined with the chaotic characteristics of the high dimensional impulsive differential equations, the plaintext image can be encrypted by using the traditional Henon map and diffusion sequences encryption algorithm. The initial values and control parameters serve as keys for encryption algorithms, and the algorithm has a larger key space. The key is resistant to minor interference and the accuracy can reach 10 − 12 . Phycocyanobilin (PCB) is the bioactive chromophore attached to Phycocyanin (PC) that is of special interest for nutraceutical and therapeutic applications. However, the production of PCB from the heterologous host Escherichia coli is still very low. To facilitate subsequent application of PCB, improving its production in microbial hosts is still a challenge to be solved. In this paper, a strategy involving fusion-expression of apo-proteins with signal peptides was adopted to improve PCB production in E. coli. First, we reconstructed the PCB biosynthesis pathway in E. coli and then optimized its culture media. Subsequently, one PC α (CpcA) subunit and one PC β (CpcB) subunit, which can capture free PCB, were introduced and increased the yield of PCB. Finally, CpcA was fused with seven signal peptides to generate recombinant proteins, among which, the signal peptide N20 fused with CpcA protein drastically improved PCB production in E. coli, providing a maximum flask output of 8.47 ± 0.18 mg/L. The results of this study demonstrate that PCB distribution and transporting manners in E. coli could affect the heterologous production efficiency. By fusing apo-proteins with signal peptides, the secretion of phycocyanin was refined and the production of PCB was successfully enhanced by 3.7-fold, compared with the starting strain (1.80 ± 0.12 mg/L). Coumarins, isocoumarins and their derivatives are polyketides abundant in fungal metabolites. Although they were first discovered over 50 years ago, the biosynthetic process is still not entirely understood. Herein, we report the activation of a silent nonreducing polyketide synthase that encodes a C7-methylated isocoumarin, similanpyrone B (1), in a marine-derived fungus Simplicillium lamellicola HDN13-430 by heterologous expression. Feeding studies revealed the host enzymes can change 1 into its hydroxylated derivatives pestapyrone A (2). Compounds 1 and 2 showed moderate radical scavenging activities with ED50 values of 67.4 µM and 104.2 µM. Muscle cell growth plays an important role in skeletal muscle development. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been proven to be involved in the regulation of skeletal muscle growth and development. In this study, we explored the effect of circTTN on myoblast growth and its possible molecular mechanism. Using C2C12 cells as a functional model, the authenticity of circTTN was confirmed by RNase R digestion and Sanger sequencing. Previous functional studies have showed that the overexpression of circTTN inhibits myoblast proliferation and differentiation. Mechanistically, circTTN recruits the PURB protein on the Titin (TTN) promoter to inhibit the expression of the TTN gene. Moreover, PURB inhibits myoblast proliferation and differentiation, which is consistent with circTTN function. In summary, our results indicate that circTTN inhibits the transcription and myogenesis of the host gene TTN by recruiting PURB proteins to form heterotypic complexes. Tropical surface temperature (TST) and its connection with atmospheric heating, including tropical latent heating (TLH), is essential to the interannual variability of tropical atmospheric circulation and global teleconnection. Utilizing seasonally averaged satellite-based TRMM precipitation data as a proxy of TLH and ERA5-based TST data from 1998 to 2018, we reveal some new features in terms of cross-hemispheric connection in the TLH and TST variability by decomposing them into equatorially symmetric and antisymmetric components. We find surprisingly that the spatial patterns of TLH projected upon the first principal components (PC1) of symmetric and antisymmetric TSTs over the whole-tropics, are very similar to each other, seemingly at odds with the classic Mastuno–Gill theory. The similarity in the projected TLH patterns is mainly because the PC1s of symmetric and antisymmetric TSTs co-vary temporally with a very high correlation. We use the spatial pattern of local correlation between symmetric and antisymmetric components, for both TST and TLH to depict geographic dependence of the symmetric–antisymmetric connection. We suggest that a whole-tropics perspective, which takes the different but connected nature of equatorially symmetric and antisymmetric modes across the whole-tropics into consideration, may well be useful in understanding and predicting tropical climate variability because clarifying the puzzle raised in this research from such a perspective about the consistency between the observation and the classic Mastuno–Gill theory is directly related to the fundamental dynamics of tropical systems, such as Walker circulation, monsoons, and their relationship with underlying land and sea conditions. Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a widely consumed vegetable, and the tomato fruit weight is a key yield component. Many quantitative trait loci (QTLs) controlling tomato fruit weight have been identified, and six of them have been fine-mapped and cloned. Here, four loci controlling tomato fruit weight were identified in an F2 population through QTL seq.; fruit weight 6.3 (fw6.3) was a major-effect QTL and its percentage of variation explanation (R2) was 0.118. This QTL was fine-mapped to a 62.6 kb interval on chromosome 6. According to the annotated tomato genome (version SL4.0, annotation ITAG4.0), this interval contained seven genes, including Solyc06g074350 (the SELF-PRUNING gene), which was likely the candidate gene underlying variation in fruit weight. The SELF-PRUNING gene contained a single-nucleotide polymorphism that resulted in an amino acid substitution in the protein sequence. The large-fruit allele of fw6.3 (fw6.3HG) was overdominant to the small-fruit allele fw6.3RG. The soluble solids content was also increased by fw6.3HG. These findings provide valuable information that will aid the cloning of the FW6.3 gene and ongoing efforts to breed tomato plants with higher yield and quality via molecular marker-assisted selection. The processes of muscle growth and development, including myoblast proliferation, migration, differentiation, and fusion, are modified by a variety of regulatory factors. MYL4 plays an important role in atrial development, atrial cardiomyopathy, muscle-fiber size, and muscle development. The structural variation (SV) of MYL4 was found via the de novo sequencing of Ningxiang pigs, and the existence of SV was verified in the experiments. The genotype distribution of Ningxiang pigs and Large White pigs was detected, and it was found that Ningxiang pigs were mainly of the BB genotype and that Large White pigs were mainly of the AB genotype. However, the molecular mechanisms behind the MYL4-mediated regulation of skeletal muscle development need to be deeply explored. Therefore, RT-qPCR, 3′RACE, CCK8, EdU, Western blot, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and bioinformation analysis were used to explore the function of MYL4 in myoblast development. The cDNA of MYL4 was successfully cloned from Ningxiang pigs, and its physicochemical properties were predicted. The expression profiles in six tissues and four stages of Ningxiang pigs and Large White pigs were found to be the highest in the lungs and 30 days after birth. The expression of MYL4 increased gradually with the extension of the myogenic differentiation time. The myoblast function test showed that the overexpression of MYL4 inhibited proliferation and promoted apoptosis and differentiation. The knockdown of MYL4 showed the opposite result. These results enhance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of muscle development and provide a solid theoretical foundation for further exploring the role of the MYL4 gene in muscle development. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous small non-coding RNAs that play crucial regulatory roles in many biological processes, including the growth and development of skeletal muscle. miRNA-100-5p is often associated with tumor cell proliferation and migration. This study aimed to uncover the regulatory mechanism of miRNA-100-5p in myogenesis. In our study, we found that the miRNA-100-5p expression level was significantly higher in muscle tissue than in other tissues in pigs. Functionally, this study shows that miR-100-5p overexpression significantly promotes the proliferation and inhibits the differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts, whereas miR-100-5p inhibition results in the opposite effects. Bioinformatic analysis predicted that Trib2 has potential binding sites for miR-100-5p at the 3′UTR region. A dual-luciferase assay, qRT-qPCR, and Western blot confirmed that Trib2 is a target gene of miR-100-5p. We further explored the function of Trib2 in myogenesis and found that Trib2 knockdown markedly facilitated proliferation but suppressed the differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts, which is contrary to the effects of miR-100-5p. In addition, co-transfection experiments demonstrated that Trib2 knockdown could attenuate the effects of miR-100-5p inhibition on C2C12 myoblasts differentiation. In terms of the molecular mechanism, miR-100-5p suppressed C2C12 myoblasts differentiation by inactivating the mTOR/S6K signaling pathway. Climate change has caused high salinity in many fields, particularly in the mud flats in coastal regions. The resulting salinity has become one of the most significant abiotic stresses affecting the world's rice crop productivity. Developing elite cultivars with novel salinity-tolerance traits is regarded as the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly approach for utilizing saline-alkali land. To develop a highly efficient green strategy and create novel rice germplasms for salt-tolerant rice breeding, this study aimed to improve rice salinity tolerance by combining targeted CRISPR/Cas9-mediated editing of the OsRR22 gene with heterosis utilization. The novel alleles of the genic male-sterility (GMS) and elite restorer line (733Srr22-T1447-1 and HZrr22-T1349-3) produced 110 and 1 bp deletions at the third exon of OsRR22 and conferred a high level of salinity tolerance. Homozygous transgene-free progeny were identified via segregation in the T2 generation, with osrr22 showing similar agronomic performance to wild-type (733S and HZ). Furthermore, these two osrr22 lines were used to develop a new promising third-generation hybrid rice line with novel salinity tolerance. Overall, the results demonstrate that combining CRISPR/Cas9 targeted gene editing with the "third-generation hybrid rice system" approach allows for the efficient development of novel hybrid rice varieties that exhibit a high level of salinity tolerance, thereby ensuring improved cultivar stability and enhanced rice productivity. The growth and development of the Longissimus Dorsi muscle are complex, playing an important role in the determination of pork quality. The study of the Longissimus Dorsi muscle at the mRNA level is particularly crucial for finding molecular approaches to improving meat quality in pig breeding. The current study utilized transcriptome technology to explore the regulatory mechanisms of muscle growth and intramuscular fat (IMF) deposition in the Longissimus Dorsi muscle at three core developmental stages (natal stage on day 1, growing stage on day 60, and finishing stage on day 210) in Ningxiang pigs. Our results revealed 441 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in common for day 1 vs. day 60 and day 60 vs. day 210, and GO (Gene Ontology) analysis showed that candidate genes RIPOR2, MEGF10, KLHL40, PLEC, TBX3, FBP2, and HOMER1 may be closely related to muscle growth and development, while KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) analysis showed that DEGs (UBC, SLC27A5, RXRG, PRKCQ, PRKAG2, PPARGC1A, PLIN5, PLIN4, IRS2, and CPT1B) involved the PPAR (Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor) signaling pathway and adipocytokine signaling pathway, which might play a pivotal role in the regulation of IMF deposition. PPI (Protein-Protein Interaction Networks) analysis found that the STAT1 gene was the top hub gene. Constructing a Regional Innovation Ecosystem (RIE) can be an effective way to utilize innovation resources by breaking the existing regional barriers. Existing research focuses more on exploring the characteristics, evolution, and impact of innovation ecosystems from a theoretical perspective, while few studies combine reality with exploring how to build an effective innovation ecosystem. Given that the concept of an innovation ecosystem is inspired by natural ecosystems, using the method of comparative analysis, this article begins by analyzing the characteristics of tropical rainforests as the most stable and efficient natural ecosystem and deeply explores the essential features of an efficient RIE, including an innovative soft and hard environment, multi-level and differentiated producers, consumers and decomposers of innovative activities, and a virtuous cycle of innovation resources. Both constructivist learning and situation-cognitive learning believe that learning outcomes are significantly affected by the context or learning environments. However, since 2019, the world has been ravaged by COVID-19. Under the threat of the virus, many offline activities, such as some practical or engineering courses, have been subjected to certain restrictions. Virtual Reality (VR) is an emerging, promising, and rapidly developing technology that enables users to obtain a near-real immersion experience by combining technologies such as computer science, communication, vision, etc. In the context of COVID-19, the advantages of VR immersive experiences are highlighted. By constructing a virtual learning environment, VR technology can greatly compensate for the shortage of traditional teaching conditions and help learners to carry out cognitive learning better. However, currently, VR-enhanced cognitive learning is still in its infancy, along with numerous problems and limitations. Therefore, this paper first conducted an in-depth study of some related concepts, such as constructivist learning and situated cognition learning. Then it proposes a general VR-enhanced cognitive learning framework and designs the general steps for constructing learning situations with VR technology. Based on the proposed model and framework, it developed a campus knowledge-learning APP using VR tools. Through a case study, it verified the validity and performance of the model and strategies. Questionnaire survey and experimental results show that the new model achieves a good learning effect and improves the efficiency of learning by at least 20% compared to the traditional learning methods. Under the trend of developing green transportation in China, tractor-and-trailer transportation has received more attention. This paper focuses on the network-type tractor-and-trailer transportation mode in the port hinterland, aiming to tackle the problems of low efficiency and customer satisfaction in the existing transportation network. The authors recommend considering opening several alternative depots and making vehicle scheduling decisions simultaneous in order to optimize the existing transportation network. Therefore, this paper constructs a bi-level programming model with a generalized total cost minimization as the objective function. The solution to the original problem is divided into two stages: the location-allocation problem and vehicle scheduling; a two-stage hybrid heuristic algorithm is designed to solve the problem. Through the continuous iteration of the upper genetic algorithm and the lower hybrid particle swarm algorithm, the overall optimization of the problem is achieved. Finally, a specific example verifies the model and the algorithm's effectiveness. The results show that the method proposed in this paper can significantly improve customer satisfaction and reduce transportation costs to a certain extent. In this work, a coaxial dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor was constructed to degrade the mixture of toluene and o-xylene, two typical benzene series. The Cu-MnO2/γ-Al2O3 series catalysts prepared by redox and impregnation methods were filled into the plasma device to degrade VOCs synergistically and explore the degradation effect. The experimental results showed that the introduction of a Cu-doped MnO2 catalyst significantly improved the pollutants' removal efficiency and CO2 selectivity, and greatly inhibited the formation of by-products. Among them, Cu0.15Mn/γ-Al2O3 showed the highest removal efficiency (toluene was 100% and o-xylene was 100%), and the best CO2 selectivity (92.73%). The XRD, BET, XPS and SEM results confirmed that the synergistic effect between Cu and Mn in the Cu-Mn solid solution could promote the amount and reducibility of the surface active oxygen species, which improved the catalytic performance. Finally, the toluene and o-xylene decomposition pathways in the NTP catalytic system were speculated according to the detected organic matter. Skeletal muscle is an important economic trait in duck breeding; however, little is known about the molecular mechanisms of its embryonic development. Here, the transcriptomes and metabolomes of breast muscle of Pekin duck from 15 (E15_BM), 21 (E21_BM), and 27 (E27_BM) days of incubation were compared and analyzed. The metabolome results showed that the differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs), including the up-regulated metabolites, l-glutamic acid, n-acetyl-1-aspartylglutamic acid, l-2-aminoadipic acid, 3-hydroxybutyric acid, bilirubin, and the significantly down-regulated metabolites, palmitic acid, 4-guanidinobutanoate, myristic acid, 3-dehydroxycarnitine, and s-adenosylmethioninamine, were mainly enriched in metabolic pathways, biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, biosynthesis of cofactors, protein digestion and absorption, and histidine metabolism, suggesting that these pathways may play important roles in the muscle development of duck during the embryonic stage. Moreover, a total of 2142 (1552 up-regulated and 590 down-regulated), 4873 (3810 up-regulated and 1063 down-regulated), and 2401 (1606 up-regulated and 795 down-regulated) DEGs were identified from E15_BM vs. E21_BM, E15_BM vs. E27_BM and E21_BM vs. E27_BM in the transcriptome, respectively. The significantly enriched GO terms from biological processes were positive regulation of cell proliferation, regulation of cell cycle, actin filament organization, and regulation of actin cytoskeleton organization, which were associated with muscle or cell growth and development. Seven significant pathways, highly enriched by FYN, PTK2, PXN, CRK, CRKL, PAK, RHOA, ROCK, INSR, PDPK1, and ARHGEF, were focal adhesion, regulation of actin cytoskeleton, wnt signaling pathway, insulin signaling pathway, extracellular matrix (ECM)-receptor interaction, cell cycle, and adherens junction, which participated in regulating the development of skeletal muscle in Pekin duck during the embryonic stage. KEGG pathway analysis of the integrated transcriptome and metabolome indicated that the pathways, including arginine and proline metabolism, protein digestion and absorption, and histidine metabolism, were involved in regulating skeletal muscle development in embryonic Pekin duck. These findings suggested that the candidate genes and metabolites involved in crucial biological pathways may regulate muscle development in the Pekin duck at the embryonic stage, and increased our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the avian muscle development. Aiming at the output torque error of a steering gear electric load simulator caused by excess torque and backlash interference, an electric load simulator based on double-motor loading is designed. The double-motor loading mode is adopted in the structure, the mathematical model is established, and the sources of excess torque and backlash interference are analyzed. In the control strategy, firstly, a torque controller is designed as a feedback controller based on the improved error symbol robust integral control method, and then a backlash interference compensator is designed as a feedforward controller based on the drive redundancy strategy. Finally, a dual motor speed synchronization controller is designed based on the improved cross coupling control method to ensure the stable operation of the torque controller and backlash compensator in the dual-motor system. The simulation results show that the compound control method can reduce the tracking error to 1.13%, 4.44% less than the PID control method. The tracking error is only 1.54% in the case of redundant torque, backlash, and different parameters of dual motors. Background: Although nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is related to obesity, it may also affect lean individuals. Recent data suggest that lean NAFLD patients can develop the whole spectrum of NASH. However, the NAFLD predictive model for lean populations remains lacking. Methods: A total of 5037 lean individuals were included in this study, and the data were separated for training and validation. The logistic regression method was used, and a nomogram, a type of prediction model, was constructed according to the logistic regression analysis and the significant clinical factors. The performance of this model was evaluated based on its discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility. Results: The individuals were divided into the training (n = 4068) or validation (n = 969) cohorts at a ratio of 8 to 2. The overall prevalence of NAFLD in the lean cohort was 6.43%. The nomogram was constructed based on seven predictors: alanine aminotransferase, total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, creatinine, uric acid, and hemoglobin A1C. The model based on these factors showed good predictive accuracy in the training set and in the internal validation set, with areas under the curve (AUCs) of 0.870 and 0.887, respectively. The calibration curves and decision curve analysis (DCA) displayed good clinical utility. Conclusion: the nomogram model provides a simple and reliable ability to predict the risk of NAFLD in lean subjects. Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of automated machine learning (AutoML) in predicting 30-day mortality in non-cholestatic cirrhosis. Methods: A total of 932 cirrhotic patients were included from the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University between 2014 and 2020. Participants were divided into training and validation datasets at a ratio of 8.5:1.5. Models were developed on the H2O AutoML platform in the training dataset, and then were evaluated in the validation dataset by area under receiver operating characteristic curves (AUC). The best AutoML model was interpreted by SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) Plot, Partial Dependence Plots (PDP), and Local Interpretable Model Agnostic Explanation (LIME). Results: The model, based on the extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) algorithm, performed better (AUC 0.888) than the other AutoML models (logistic regression 0.673, gradient boost machine 0.886, random forest 0.866, deep learning 0.830, stacking 0.850), as well as the existing scorings (the model of end-stage liver disease [MELD] score 0.778, MELD-Na score 0.782, and albumin-bilirubin [ALBI] score 0.662). The most key variable in the XGBoost model was high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, followed by creatinine, white blood cell count, international normalized ratio, etc. Conclusion: The AutoML model based on the XGBoost algorithm presented better performance than the existing scoring systems for predicting 30-day mortality in patients with non-cholestatic cirrhosis. Riserless Mud Recovery (RMR) technology, as an emerging and efficient drilling method, is advantageous to reduce the shallow flow hazards and the number of casings. The wave current effect is one of the reasons limiting the application of RMR technology in deep and ultra-deep water, and fewer quantitative and qualitative analyses of the effect of the current are made on the stability of conductors. This paper investigates the influence of the overturning moment generated by the continuous subsea internal wave flow and the soil resistance to the conductor. The numerical simulation software ABAQUS is used to study the effects of sea state recurrence period, seabed soil properties, conductor material, driving depth in the mud, and conductor wellhead height on the stability of the conductor, and the influence weights of the factors affecting the stability of the conductor are analyzed using the weight analysis algorithm of extreme learning machine-mean impact value (ELM-MIV). Simple Summary: Surgery is the main treatment to cure pancreatic cancer (PC). However, the 5-year survival rate of surgical resection is only 10–20%. The aim of our study was to develop a prediction model with the novel machine learning algorithm random survival forest (RSF) and to offer easy-to-use prediction tools, including risk stratification and individual prognosis. The study would benefit patients and physicians in postoperative management and facilitate personalized medicine. Accurate prediction for the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer (PC) is a emerge task nowadays. We aimed to develop survival models for postoperative PC patients, based on a novel algorithm, random survival forest (RSF), traditional Cox regression and neural networks (Deepsurv), using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) database. A total of 3988 patients were included in this study. Eight clinicopathological features were selected using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analysis and were utilized to develop the RSF model. The model was evaluated based on three dimensions: discrimination, calibration, and clinical benefit. It found that the RSF model predicted the cancer-specific survival (CSS) of the postoperative PC patients with a c-index of 0.723, which was higher than the models built by Cox regression (0.670) and Deepsurv (0.700). The Brier scores at 1, 3, and 5 years (0.188, 0.177, and 0.131) of the RSF model demonstrated the model's favorable calibration and the decision curve analysis illustrated the model's value of clinical implement. Moreover, the roles of the key variables were visualized in the Shapley Additive Explanations plotting. Lastly, the prediction model demonstrates value in risk stratification and individual prognosis. The commutation failure of high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems could lead to unstable operation of the alternating current/direct current (AC/DC) hybrid power grid. The commutation voltage distortion caused by harmonics is a considerable but unclear factor of commutation failure. According to the control switching process of HVDC systems, the commutation voltage-time area method is employed to analyze and reveal the influence mechanism of harmonic components of commutation voltage on first and subsequent commutation failures. Considering the distortion characteristics of AC voltage, a predictive commutation failure suppression strategy considering multiple harmonics of commutation voltage is proposed. In this strategy, the new extinction angle and the zero-crossing offset angle after voltage distortion are calculated considering the harmonic components so as to obtain the compensation margin of the lag trigger angle by combining the correction margin with the voltage change rate. Moreover, the tuning method of parameters of extinction angle and voltage prediction variables are provided. Finally, a case study based on CIGRE standard HVDC system is performed and analyzed by using power systems computer-aided design (PSCAD) software. The influences of curing pressure on the physical and mechanical property development of oil well cement during long-term curing were studied. Five silica-enriched cement slurries designed without and with reinforcement materials (latex fiber and nano-graphene) were autoclaved at 200 °C under two different pressures. The low pressure (50 MPa) curing was conducted for 2, 60, 90 and 180 days; the high pressure (150 MPa) curing was conducted for 2 and 360 days. The physical and mechanical properties of set cement were characterized by compressive strength, Young's modulus, and water/gas permeability; the mineral composition and microstructure were determined by X-ray diffraction, mercury intrusion porosimetry, thermogravimetry and scanning electron microscope. Test results showed that high pressure (150 MPa) curing led to a more compact microstructure, which reduced the rate of strength retrogression in the long term. Samples with reinforcement materials, especially the latex fiber, showed higher compressive strength, Young's modulus and lower permeability during long-term curing at both pressures. In this paper, we proposed a logistic regression model with l p , q regularization that could give a group sparse solution. The model could be applied to variable-selection problems with sparse group structures. In the context of big data, the solutions for practical problems are often group sparse, so it is necessary to study this kind of model. We defined the model from three perspectives: theoretical, algorithmic and numeric. From the theoretical perspective, by introducing the notion of the group restricted eigenvalue condition, we gave the oracle inequality, which was an important property for the variable-selection problems. The global recovery bound was also established for the logistic regression model with l p , q regularization. From the algorithmic perspective, we applied the well-known alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) algorithm to solve the model. The subproblems for the ADMM algorithm were solved effectively. From the numerical perspective, we performed experiments for simulated data and real data in the factor stock selection. We employed the ADMM algorithm that we presented in the paper to solve the model. The numerical results were also presented. The sedimentary characteristics of the Neogene in the eastern Liaodong area are poorly studied, which restricts the oil and gas exploration in this area. Based on the current seismic, logging, drilling, and core data, we have studied the sequence stratigraphy and sedimentary characteristics of the Neogene in the eastern Liaodong area. Ultimately, we identified the controlling factors of sedimentation and established the depositional model. In this study, six sequence boundaries of the Neogene were identified and can be divided into five third-order sequences. The sedimentary evolution can be divided into four stages: braided river delta, meandering river delta with a low sand-stratum ratio, meandering river delta with a high sand-stratum ratio, and meandering river delta. Both the palaeotectonic movements and paleoclimate changes of the Neogene influence the periodical fluctuation of the lake level and then control the vertical evolution of the sedimentary types. The paleogeomorphology controls the macroscopic distribution of the sedimentary facies zone, the paleo-valleys that are associated with the strike-slip faults control the channel strike, and the fault slopes at the edge of the lacustrine basins control the sand redistribution of the delta front. Background This study aims to explore a deep learning (DL) algorithm for developing a prognostic model and perform survival analyses in SBT patients. Methods The demographic and clinical features of patients with SBTs were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. We randomly split the samples into the training set and the validation set at 7:3. Cox proportional hazards (Cox-PH) analysis and the DeepSurv algorithm were used to develop models. The performance of the Cox-PH and DeepSurv models was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curves, calibration curves, C-statistics and decision-curve analysis (DCA). A Kaplan–Meier (K–M) survival analysis was performed for further explanation on prognostic effect of the Cox-PH model. Results The multivariate analysis demonstrated that seven variables were associated with cancer-specific survival (CSS) (all p < 0.05). The DeepSurv model showed better performance than the Cox-PH model (C-index: 0.871 vs. 0.866). The calibration curves and DCA revealed that the two models had good discrimination and calibration. Moreover, patients with ileac malignancy and N2 stage disease were not responding to surgery according to the K–M analysis. Conclusions This study reported a DeepSurv model that performed well in CSS in SBT patients. It might offer insights into future research to explore more DL algorithms in cohort studies. A two-photon polymerization initiator is a kind of nonlinear optical material. With the demand for more efficient initiators in two-photon polymerization additive manufacturing, there are more and more related studies. In this paper, four conjugate-extended two-photon polymerization initiators with different alkane chain lengths were designed and synthesized, and single-photon, two-photon, and photodegradation experiments were carried out. Additive manufacturing experiments illustrated that the designed molecules can be used as two-photon initiators, and the writing speed can achieve 100,000 μm/s at a laser power of 25 mW. Through theoretical calculation and experimental comparison of the properties of molecules with different conjugation degrees, it was proven that a certain degree of conjugation extension can improve the initiation ability of molecules; however, this improvement cannot be extended infinitely. Solubility tests of different acrylates showed that molecules with different alkane chain lengths have varying solubility. The CdTe nanocrystal (NC) is an outstanding, low-cost photovoltaic material for highly efficient solution-processed thin-film solar cells. Currently, most CdTe NC thin-film solar cells are based on CdSe, ZnO, or CdS buffer layers. In this study, a wide bandgap and Cd-free ZnSe NC is introduced for the first time as the buffer layer for all solution-processed CdTe/ZnSe NC hetero-junction thin-film solar cells with a configuration of ITO/ZnO/ZnSe/CdTe/MoOx/Au. The dependence of the thickness of the ZnSe NC film, the annealing temperature and the chemical treatment on the performance of NC solar cells are investigated and discussed in detail. We further develop a ligand-exchanging strategy that involves 1,2-ethanedithiol (EDT) during the fabrication of ZnSe NC film. An improved power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 3.58% is obtained, which is increased by 16.6% when compared to a device without the EDT treatment. We believe that using ZnSe NC as the buffer layer holds the potential for developing high-efficiency, low cost, and stable CdTe NC-based solar cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mind-wandering (MW) is a common phenomenon, defined as task-unrelated thoughts. This study is based on event-related potentials (ERPs), using modified sustained attention to response task (modified SART, mSART) to discuss the neural patterns of different types of MW. In the current study, we defined the MW realized by participants as self-caught MW, and the MW measurement acquired by probes as probe-caught MW. The behavioral results showed that the reaction times (RTs) during self-caught MW were greater than those during non-self-caught MW. The ERP results showed that during self-caught MW, the mean amplitudes of N1 decreased significantly, indicating that the participants' attention had deviated from the current task. The increase in the mean amplitudes of P2 during self-caught MW indicated lower vigilance. We also found that the mean amplitudes of N300 reduced during self-caught MW, which indicated that cognitive control or monitoring might be affected by self-caught MW. The average amplitudes of P300 were significantly lower during probe-caught MW than during on-task, indicating the impact on high-level cognitive processing. In addition, the amplitudes of N1, P2, and N300 in anterior regions were greater than those in posterior regions. P300 amplitudes during probe-caught MW in the right hemisphere were greater than those of the left hemisphere. In summary, our research results demonstrated that alertness and cognitive processing decreased during both self-caught MW and probe-caught MW. ERPs were statistically different under the conditions of self-caught MW and probe-caught MW. The current study provided new insights into the relationship between MW and neural markers. With the escalating contradiction between the growing demand for electric buses and limited supporting resources of cities to deploy electric charging infrastructure, it is a great challenge for decision-makers to synthetically plan the location and decide on the expansion sequence of electric charging stations. In light of the location decisions of electric charging stations having long-term impacts on the deployment of electric buses and the layout of city traffic networks, a comprehensive framework for planning the locations and deciding on the expansion of electric bus charging stations should be developed simultaneously. In practice, construction or renovation of a new charging station is limited by various factors, such as land resources, capital investment, and power grid load. Thus, it is necessary to develop an evaluation structure that combines these factors to provide integrated decision support for the location of bus charging stations. Under this background, this paper develops a gridded affinity propagation (AP) clustering algorithm that combines the superiorities of the AP clustering algorithm and the map gridding rule to find the optimal candidate locations for electric bus charging stations by considering multiple impacting factors such as land cost, traffic conditions, and so on. Based on the location results of the candidate stations, the expansion sequence of these candidate stations is proposed. In particular, a sequential expansion rule for planning the charging stations is proposed that considers the development trends of the charging demand. To verify the performance of the gridded AP clustering and the effectiveness of the proposed sequential expansion rule, an empirical investigation of Guiyang City, the capital of Guizhou province in China, is conducted. The results of the empirical investigation demonstrate that the proposed framework that helps find optimal locations for electric bus charging stations and the expansion sequence of these locations are decided with less capital investment pressure. This research shows that the combination of gridded AP clustering and the proposed sequential expansion rule can systematically solve the problem of finding the optimal locations and deciding on the best expansion sequence for electric bus charging stations, which denotes that the proposed structure is pretty pragmatic and would benefit the government for long-term investment in electric bus station deployment. The Tibetan Plateau (TP) and the Arctic are both cold, fragile, and sensitive to global warming. However, they have very different cloud radiative effects (CRE) and influences on the climate system. In this study, the effects of cloud microphysics on the vertical structures of CRE over the two regions are analyzed and compared by using CloudSat/CALIPSO satellite data and the Rapid Radiative Transfer Model. Results show there is a greater amount of cloud water particles with larger sizes over the TP than over the Arctic, and the supercooled water is found to be more prone to exist over the former than the latter, making shortwave and longwave CRE, as well as the net CRE, much stronger over the TP. Further investigations indicate that the vertical structures of CRE at high altitudes are primarily dominated by cloud ice water, while those at low altitudes are dominated by cloud liquid and mixed-phase water. The liquid and mixed-phase water results in a strong shallow heating (cooling) layer above the cooling (heating) layer in the shortwave (longwave) CRE profiles, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Skeletal muscle is an important tissue and its development is strictly regulated by genes. In this study, in order to understand the muscle-related gene expression in Pekin duck, RNA-seq was performed to analyze and compare skeletal muscle at different growth stages. Alternative splicing, single nucleotide polymorphisms and insertion–deletions were detected, and 299 novel genes were discovered. MYL4, IGF2BP1, CSRP3, SPP1, KLHL31, LAMB2, LAMA2, ITGB1 and OPN played crucial roles in skeletal muscle development. Oxidative phosphorylation, ECM-receptor interaction, focal adhesion, carbon metabolism, and biosynthesis of amino acids participated in the regulation of skeletal muscle development in Pekin duck. This study provides an important reference for revealing the developmental mechanisms of pectoral and leg muscles in duck. In this study, the gene expression profiles and pathways in skeletal muscle of Pekin duck were investigated and compared at embryonic day 17, 21, and 27 and postnatally at 6 months of age. An average of 49,555,936 reads in each sample was obtained from the transcriptome libraries. Over 70.0% of alternative splicing (AS) in each sample was mainly alternative 5′ first exon (transcription start site)—the first exon splicing (TSS) and alternative 3′ last exon (transcription terminal site)—the last exon splicing (TTS), indicating that TSS and TTS were the most common AS event in Pekin ducks, and these AS events were closely related to the regulation of muscle development at different growth stages. The results provided a valuable genomic resource for selective breeding and functional studies of genes. A total of 299 novel genes with ≥2 exons were obtained. There were 294 to 2806 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in each pairwise comparison of Pekin duck. Notably, 90 DEGs in breast muscle and 9 DEGs in leg muscle were co-expressed at all developmental points. DEGs were validated by qPCR analysis, which confirmed the tendency of the expression. DEGs related to muscle development were involved in biological processes such as "endodermal cell differentiation", "muscle cell cellular homeostasis", "skeletal muscle tissue growth" and "skeletal muscle cell differentiation", and were involved in pathways such as oxidative phosphorylation, ECM-receptor (extracellular matrix receptor) interaction, focal adhesion, carbon metabolism, and biosynthesis of amino acids. Some DEGs, including MYL4, IGF2BP1, CSRP3, SPP1 and KLHL31, as well as LAMB2, LAMA2, ITGB1 and OPN, played crucial roles in muscle growth and development. This study provides valuable information about the expression profile of mRNAs and pathways from duck skeletal muscle at different growth stages, and further functional study of these mRNAs and pathways could provide new ideas for studying the molecular networks of growth and development in duck skeletal muscle. As one of the most important poultry worldwide, ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) are raised mainly for meat and egg products, and muscle development in ducks is important for meat production. Therefore, an investigation of gene expression in duck skeletal muscle would significantly contribute to our understanding of muscle development. In this study, twenty-four cDNA libraries were constructed from breast and leg muscles of Hanzhong Ma ducks at day 17, 21, 27 of the embryo and postnatal at 6-month-old. High-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics were used to determine the abundances and characteristics of transcripts. A total of 632,172,628 (average 52,681,052) and 637,213,938 (average 53,101,162) reads were obtained from the sequencing data of breast and leg muscles, respectively. Over 71.63% and 77.36% of the reads could be mapped to the Anas platyrhynchos genome. In the skeletal muscle of Hanzhong duck, intron variant (INTRON), synonymous variant (SYNONYMOUS_CODING), and prime 3′ UTR variant (UTR_3_PRIME) were the main single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) annotation information, and "INTRON", "UTR_3_PRIME", and downstream-gene variant (DOWNSTREAM) were the main insertion-deletion (InDel) annotation information. The predicted number of alternative splicing (AS) in all samples were mainly alternative 5′ first exon (transcription start site)-the first exon splicing (TSS) and alternative 3′ last exon (transcription terminal site)-the last exon splicing (TTS). Besides, there were 292 to 2801 annotated differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in breast muscle and 304 to 1950 annotated DEGs in leg muscle from different databases. It is worth noting that 75 DEGs in breast muscle and 49 DEGs in leg muscle were co-expressed at all developmental points of comparison, respectively. The RNA-Seq data were confirmed to be reliable by qPCR. The identified DEGs, such as CREBL2, RHEB, GDF6, SHISA2, MYLK2, ACTN3, RYR3, and STMN1, were specially highlighted, indicating their strong associations with muscle development in the Hanzhong Ma duck. KEGG pathway analysis suggested that regulation of actin cytoskeleton, oxidative phosphorylation, and focal adhesion were involved in the development of skeletal muscle. The egg-laying rate is an important indicator for evaluating fertility of poultry. In order to better understand the laying mechanism of Muscovy ducks, gene expression profiles and pathways of ovarian tissues in high- and low-laying black (BH and BL) and white Muscovy ducks (WH and WL) during the peak production period were performed by using RNA-seq. The total number of reads produced for each ovarian sample ranged from 44,344,070 to 47,963,328. A total of 113, 619 and 87 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified in BH-vs-WH, BL-vs-BH and BL-vs-WL, respectively. Among them, 54, 356 and 49 genes were up regulated and 59, 263 and 38 genes were down regulated. In addition, there were only 10 up-regulated genes in WL-vs-WH. In the comparison of DEGs in black and white Muscovy ducks, two co-expressed DEG genes were detected between BH-vs-WH and BL-vs-WL and seven DEGs were co-expressed between BL-vs-BH and WL-vs-WH. The RNA-Seq data were confirmed to be reliable by qPCR. Numerous DEGs known to be involved in ovarian development were identified, including TGFβ2, NGFR, CEBPD, CPEB2, POSTN, SMOC1, FGF18, EFNA5 and SDC4. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations indicated that DEGs related to ovarian development were mainly enriched in biological processes of "circadian sleep/wake cycle process," "negative regulation of transforming growth factor-β secretion," "positive regulation of calcium ion transport" in BH-vs-WH and "cell surface receptor signaling pathway," "Notch signaling pathway" and "calcium ion transport" in BL-vs-BH. Besides, "steroid biosynthetic process," "granulosa cell development" and "egg coat formation" were mainly enriched in BL-vs-WL and "reproduction," "MAPK cascade" and "mitotic cell cycle" were mainly enriched in WL-vs-WH. KEGG pathway analysis showed that the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and ovarian steroidogenesis were the most enriched in Muscovy duck ovary transcriptome data. In China, the production for duck meat is second only to that of chicken, and the demand for duck meat is also increasing. However, there is still unclear on the internal mechanism of regulating skeletal muscle growth and development in duck. This study aimed to identity candidate genes related to growth of duck skeletal muscle and explore the potential regulatory mechanism. RNA-seq technology was used to compare the transcriptome of skeletal muscles in black Muscovy ducks at different developmental stages (day 17, 21, 27, 31, and 34 of embryos and postnatal 6-month-olds). The SNPs and InDels of black Muscovy ducks at different growth stages were mainly in "INTRON", "SYNONYMOUS_CODING", "UTR_3_PRIME", and "DOWNSTREAM". The average number of AS in each sample was 37,267, mainly concentrated in TSS and TTS. Besides, a total of 19 to 5377 DEGs were detected in each pairwise comparison. Functional analysis showed that the DEGs were mainly involved in the processes of cell growth, muscle development, and cellular activities (junction, migration, assembly, differentiation, and proliferation). Many of DEGs were well known to be related to growth of skeletal muscle in black Muscovy duck, such as MyoG, FBXO1, MEF2A, and FoxN2. KEGG pathway analysis identified that the DEGs were significantly enriched in the pathways related to the focal adhesion, MAPK signaling pathway and regulation of the actin cytoskeleton. Some DEGs assigned to these pathways were potential candidate genes inducing the difference in muscle growth among the developmental stages, such as FAF1, RGS8, GRB10, SMYD3, and TNNI2. Our study identified several genes and pathways that may participate in the regulation of skeletal muscle growth in black Muscovy duck. Vacancies in semiconductors can play a versatile role in boosting their photocatalytic activity. In this work, a novel TiO2/Cu/TiO2 sandwich structure is designed and constructed. Abundant vacancies were introduced in TiO2 lattice by Cu reduction under heat treatment. Meanwhile, Cu atom could diffuse into TiO2 to form Cu-doped TiO2. The synergistic effect between oxygen vacancies and Cu atoms achieved about 2.4 times improved photocurrent of TiO2/Cu/TiO2 sandwich structure compared to bare TiO2 thin film. The enhanced photoactivity may be attributed to regulated electron structure of TiO2 by oxygen vacancies and Cu dopant from experimental results and density functional theory calculations. Oxygen vacancies and Cu dopant in TiO2 formed through copper metal reduction can introduce impurity levels and narrow the band gap of TiO2, thus improve the visible light response. More importantly, the Cu2+ and oxygen vacancies in TiO2 lattice can dramatically increase the charge density around conduction band and promote separation of photo-induced charge carriers. Furthermore, the oxygen vacancies on the surface may serve as active site for sufficient chemical reaction. Leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinases (LRR-RLKs) constitute the largest subfamily of receptor-like kinases (RLKs) in plants. They play roles in plant growth and developmental and physiological processes, but less is known about the functions of LRR-RLKs in Medicago truncatula. Our genome-wide analysis revealed 329 LRR-RLK genes in the M.truncatula genome. Phylogenetic and classification analysis suggested that these genes could be classified into 15 groups and 24 subgroups. A total of 321 genes were mapped onto all chromosomes, and 23 tandem duplications (TDs) involving 56 genes were distributed on each chromosome except 4. Twenty-seven M.truncatula LRR-RLK segmental duplication gene pairs were colinearly related. The exon/intron organization, motif composition and arrangements were relatively conserved among members of the same groups or subgroups. Using publicly available RNAseq data and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), expression profiling suggested that LRR-RLKs were differentially expressed among different tissues, while some were expressed specifically in the roots and nodules. The expression of LRR-RLKs in A17 and 4 nodule mutants under rhizobial infection showed that 36 LRR-RKLs were highly upregulated in the sickle (skl) mutant [an ethylene (ET)-insensitive, Nod factor-hypersensitive mutant] after 12 h of rhizobium inoculation. Among these LRR-RLKs, six genes were also expressed specifically in the roots and nodules, which might be specific to the Nod factor and involved in autoregulation of the nodulation signal. SiO2/ZrO2 and SiO2/ZrO2/Al2O3 composite organic–inorganic coatings were prepared by the sol-gel technology. The structure of the coating was characterized by IR, particle size analyzer, SEM, and AFM, respectively. The results showed that ZrO2, SiO2 (inorganic component), and siloxane had undergone a hydrolytic condensation reaction, and the composite organic–inorganic coatings were formed with -O-M-O- (M is Si, Zr) as molecular skeleton network structure. Adding an appropriate ratio of ZrO2 sol, no agglomeration and phase separation occurred, which could significantly improve the refractive index, hardness, and light transmittance of the coatings. Al2O3 sol could greatly improve the friction resistance of the composite organic–inorganic coatings, and the Bayer ratio of the composite coatings could reach 7.86. By adjusting the proportioning of composite sol solution, the refractive index of the composite transparent coatings could be controlled from 1.52 to 1.65. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Herein, high-energy {001} facets and Sn4+ doping have been demonstrated to be effective strategies to improve the surface characteristics, photon absorption, and charge transport of TiO2 hierarchical nanospheres, thereby improving their photocatalytic performance. The TiO2 hierarchical nanospheres under different reaction times were prepared by solvothermal method. The TiO2 hierarchical nanospheres (24 h) expose the largest area of {001} facets, which is conducive to increase the density of surface active sites to degrade the adsorbed methylene blue (MB), enhance light scattering ability to absorb more incident photons, and finally, improve photocatalytic activity. Furthermore, the SnxTi1−xO2 (STO) hierarchical nanospheres are fabricated by Sn4+ doping, in which the Sn4+ doping energy level and surface hydroxyl group are beneficial to broaden the light absorption range, promote the generation of charge carriers, and retard the recombination of electron–hole pairs, thereby increasing the probability of charge carriers participating in photocatalytic reactions. Compared with TiO2 hierarchical nanospheres (24 h), the STO hierarchical nanospheres with 5% nSn/nTi molar ratio exhibit a 1.84-fold improvement in photodegradation of MB arising from the enhanced light absorption ability, increased number of photogenerated electron–hole pairs, and prolonged charge carrier lifetime.
