6-BA, a small molecule compound of cytokinins, has been proven to delay leaf senescence in different species, including Chinese flowering cabbage; however, its specific mechanism remains relatively unknown. In this study, the application of external 6-BA delayed leaf senescence in Chinese flowering cabbage, showing that 6-BA effectively prevented the decrease in the maximum quantum yield (Fv/Fm) and overall chlorophyll content and suppressed the expression of the senescence-associated gene BrSAG12 over a 7-day period of storage. Moreover, treatment with 6-BA decreased the respiratory rate, NAD(H) content, the activities of hexose phosphate isomerase (PHI), succinate dehydrogenase (SDH), cytochrome c oxidase (CCO), and ascorbic acid oxidase (AAO) using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the transcriptional abundance of related genes by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Furthermore, 6-BA also increased the activity and expression levels of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) and 6-phosphate gluconate dehydrogenase (6-PGDH). The group treated with 6-BA retained elevated levels of NADP (H), ATP, total ATPase, and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide kinase (NADK) activity, as well as the expression of respiratory enzymes. Molecular docking indicated that 6-BA hinders the glycolysis pathway (EMP), tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA), and cytochrome pathway (CCP), and sustains elevated levels of the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) through interactions with the PHI, SDH, 6-PGDH, G6PDH, CCO, and AAO proteins, consequently delaying postharvest leaf senescence in Chinese flowering cabbage. The volcanic rocks of the Es3 Formation (the third member of the Eocene Shahejie) in the Liaohe Eastern Sag can be divided into four facies and twelve subfacies. The porosity spectrum, porosity bin, variation coefficient (VC), and porosity width derived from electrical imaging log data were applied to study and characterize the heterogeneity of four facies and nine subfacies, both qualitatively and quantitatively. However, the VC and porosity width cannot be used to quantitatively classify heterogeneity when the VC is small and the porosity width is large. In the present study, the authors propose a new parameter, Pvcd = variation coefficient × porosity width. Based on this parameter, using a combination of porosity spectra, porosity bin features, VC, and porosity width, lithofacies heterogeneity is divided into three categories. The first is weak heterogeneity, which has a Pvcd < 1.1, a VC < 0.15, and a porosity width < 6. The second is moderate heterogeneity, which has a Pvcd 1.1–1.6, a VC 0.15–0.25, and a porosity width 6–9. The third is strong heterogeneity, which has a Pvcd > 1.6, a porosity VC > 0.25, and a porosity width > 9. In these three cases, the porosity spectra mainly display unimodal features, the porosity bins are concentrated, the bimodal features with tails and porosity bins are less concentrated, or the multimodal features with tails and porosity bins are scattered, respectively. Favorable reservoirs of volcanic rocks are controlled by lithofacies. In the study area, the favorable reservoirs appear to be the diatreme subfacies with low or medium heterogeneity, the pyroclastic flow subfacies with low heterogeneity, the compound lava flow subfacies with low or medium heterogeneity, and the outer zone subfacies with strong heterogeneity. Fruit size is an important fruit quality trait that influences the production and commodity values of loquats (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.). The Small Auxin Upregulated RNA (SAUR) gene family has proven to play a vital role in the fruit development of many plant species. However, it has not been comprehensively studied in a genome-wide manner in loquats, and its role in regulating fruit size remains unknown. In this study, we identified 95 EjSAUR genes in the loquat genome. Tandem duplication and segmental duplication contributed to the expansion of this gene family in loquats. Phylogenetic analysis grouped the SAURs from Arabidopsis, rice, and loquat into nine clusters. By analyzing the transcriptome profiles in different tissues and at different fruit developmental stages and comparing two sister lines with contrasting fruit sizes, as well as by functional predictions, a candidate gene (EjSAUR22) highly expressed in expanding fruits was selected for further functional investigation. A combination of Indoleacetic acid (IAA) treatment and virus-induced gene silencing revealed that EjSAUR22 was not only responsive to auxin, but also played a role in regulating cell size and fruit expansion. The findings from our study provide a solid foundation for understanding the molecular mechanisms controlling fruit size in loquats, and also provide potential targets for manipulation of fruit size to accelerate loquat breeding.
