As a green and sustainable technology to relieve environmental pollution issues, semiconductor photocatalysis attracted great attention. However, most single-component semiconductors suffer from high carrier recombination rate and low reaction efficiency. Here, we constructed a novel visible-light-driven Z-scheme g-C3N4/AgBr-Ag photocatalyst (noted as CN-AA-0.05) using a hydrothermal method with KBr as the bromine source. The CN-AA-0.05 photocatalyst shows an excellent photocatalytic degradation performance, and a rhodamine B (RhB) degradation ratio of 96.3% in 40 min, and 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) degradation ratio of 99.2% in 18 min are achieved. Mechanistic studies show that the remarkable performance of CN-AA-0.05 is not only attributed to the enhanced light absorption caused by the Ag SPR effect, but also the efficient charge transfer and separation with Ag nanoparticles as the bridge. Our work provides a reference for the design and construction of efficient visible-light-responsive Z-scheme photocatalysts, and an in-depth understanding into the mechanism of Z-scheme photocatalysts. In this study, a series of diblock glycopolymers, poly(6-O-methacryloyl-D-galactopyranose) -b-poly(6-cholesteryloxyhexyl methacrylate) (PMAgala-b-PMAChols), with cholesterol/galactose grafts were prepared through a sequential reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and deprotection process. The glycopolymers could self-assemble into aggregates with various morphologies depending on cholesterol/galactose-containing block weight ratios, as determined by transmission electronic microscopy (TEM) and dynamic laser light scattering (DLS). In addition, the lectin (Ricinus communis agglutinin II, RCA120) recognition and bovine serum albumin (BSA) adsorption of the PMAgala-b-PMAChol aggregates were evaluated. The SK-Hep-1 tumor cell inhibition properties of the PMAgala-b-PMAChol/doxorubicin (DOX) complex aggregates were further examined in vitro. Results indicate that the PMAgala-b-PMAChol aggregates with various morphologies showed different interaction/recognition features with RCA120 and BSA. Spherical aggregates (d ≈ 92 nm) possessed the highest RCA120 recognition ability and lowest BSA protein adsorption. In addition, the DOX-loaded spherical complex aggregates exhibited a better tumor cell inhibition property than those of nanofibrous complex aggregates. The morphology-variable aggregates derived from the amphiphilic glycopolymers may serve as multifunctional biomaterials with biomolecular recognition and drug delivery features. To address the contradiction between watermarking robustness and imperceptibility, a zero-watermarking method based on shrinkage and a redundant feature elimination network (SRFENet) is proposed in this paper. First, in order to have the capability of resisting different image attacks, a dense connection was used to extract shallow and deep features from different convolutional layers. Secondly, to reduce unimportant information for robustness and uniqueness, in SRFENet, a shrinkage module was utilized by automatically learning the threshold of each feature channel. Then, to enhance watermarking uniqueness, a redundant feature elimination module was designed to reduce redundant information for the remaining valid features by learning the weights of inter-feature and intra-feature. In order to increase watermarking robustness further, noised images were generated for training. Finally, an extracted feature map from SRFENet was used to construct a zero-watermark. Furthermore, a zero-watermark from the noised image was generated for copyright verification, which is symmetrical to the process of zero-watermark construction from the original image. The experimental results showed that the proposed zero-watermarking method was robust to different single-image attacks (average BER is 0.0218) and hybrid image attacks (average NC is 0.9551), proving the significant generalization ability to resist different attacks. Compared with existing zero-watermarking methods, the proposed method is more robust since it extracts the main image features via learning a large number of different images for zero-watermark construction. Parvovirus B19 (B19V) is pathogenic to humans and causes various human diseases. However, no antiviral agents or vaccines currently exist for the treatment or prevention of B19V infection. Therefore, developing sensitive and specific methods for B19V infection diagnosis is essential for accurate diagnoses. Previously, a Clustered Regularly Interspaced Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR)-Cas12a (cpf1)-based electrochemical biosensor (E-CRISPR) with a picomole sensitivity for B19V detection was established. Herein, we set up a novel nucleic acid detection system based on Pyrococcus furiosus Argonaute (PfAgo)-mediated nucleic acid detection, targeting the nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) region of the B19V viral genome (abbreviated B19-NS1 PAND). Benefiting from independent protospacer adjacent motif (PAM) sequences, PfAgo can recognize their target with guide DNA (gDNA) that is easy to design and synthesize at a low cost. In contrast to E-CRISPR, without preamplification with Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), the Minimum Detectable Concentration (MDC) of three guide- or single guide-mediated B19-NS1 PAND was about 4 nM, approximately 6-fold more than E-CRISPR. However, when introducing an amplification step, the MDC can be dramatically decreased to the aM level (54 aM). In addition, the diagnostic results from clinical samples with B19-NS1 PAND revealed 100% consistency with PCR assays and subsequent Sanger sequencing tests, which may assist in molecular testing for clinical diagnosis and epidemiological investigations of B19V. Precipitation is closely related to the production and daily life of human beings, so accurate precipitation measurement is of great significance. Spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a microwave remote sensing technology with high resolution, which provides an opportunity to improve the accuracy of precipitation inversion. In this paper, the radar attenuation expression is analyzed according to the scattering characteristics of rain, snow and ground. Combined with the Volterra integral equation of the second kind, the solution to the expression, the precipitation horizontal variation of the double-layer model, can be obtained. The simulated result of this method is in good agreement with the given horizontal variation of precipitation. Compared with the original VIE method, which only considers the effect of rainfall, the method in this paper considers both rainfall and snowfall; compared with the Model Oriented Statistical (MOS) method, the method in this paper not only reduces the number of empirical coefficients used and thus reduces the workload in the early stage and retrieval process and its application limits, but it will also increase the accuracy of the inversion of the horizontal variation. Electrically conductive cementitious composites (ECCCs) have been widely used to complete functional and smart construction projects. Graphite, due to its low cost and wide availability, is a promising electrically conductive filler to generate electrically conductive networks in cement matrixes. Cement-based materials provide an ideal balance of safety, environmental protection, strength, durability, and economy. Today, graphite is commonly applied in traditional cementitious materials. This paper reviews previous studies regarding the effects and correlations of the use of graphite-based materials as conductive fillers on the properties of traditional cementitious materials. The dispersion, workability, cement hydration, mechanical strength, durability, and electrically conductive mechanisms of cementitious composites modified with graphite are summarized. The feasibility of synthesis of Ti6Al4V/SrFHA (Ca9.37Sr0.63(PO4)6F2) composites via coating strontium and fluorine co-doped HA to Ti6Al4V substrate by microwave-assisted liquid phase deposition and calcination was evaluated, with a focus on the effect of the deposition temperature from 30 °C to 70 °C. The outcomes demonstrate that strontium and fluorine can be successfully doped into HA to form a SrFHA coating with modified micromorphology which is deposited on the alloy. When the deposition temperature was 50 °C, the coating with the largest uniform continuous SrFHA coverage was obtained. After calcination, the adhesion strength and Vickers microhardness of the Ti6Al4V/SrFHA composite increased from 0.68 MPa and 323 HV to 2.41 MPa and 329 HV, respectively, with a decrease in the water contact angle from 10.88° to 7.24°, exhibiting enhancement of both mechanical properties and wettability. Moreover, the composite obtained at the deposition temperature of 50 °C exhibited good bioactivity based on the simulate body fluid (SBF) test. On account of the above features primarily as a result of the combined effect of the co-doping of strontium and fluorine, high crystallinity of SrFHA, large surface roughness, and formation of the titanium oxide transition layer, the Ti6Al4V/SrFHA composite shows great potential in dental implantology. Reversible data hiding in the encrypted domain (RDH-ED) is a technique that protects the privacy of multimedia in the cloud service. In order to manage three-dimensional (3D) models, a novel RDH-ED based on prediction error expansion (PEE) is proposed. First, the homomorphic Paillier cryptosystem is utilized to encrypt the 3D model for transmission to the cloud. In the data hiding, a greedy algorithm is employed to classify vertices of 3D models into reference and embedded sets in order to increase the embedding capacity. The prediction value of the embedded vertex is computed by using the reference vertex, and then the module length of the prediction error is expanded to embed data. In the receiving side, the data extraction is symmetric to the data embedding, and the range of the module length is compared to extract the secret data. Meanwhile, the original 3D model can be recovered with the help of the reference vertex. Machine learning has been successfully used for object recognition within images. Due to the complexity of the spectrum and texture of construction and demolition waste (C&DW), it is difficult to construct an automatic identification method for C&DW based on machine learning and remote sensing data sources. Machine learning includes many types of algorithms; however, different algorithms and parameters have different identification effects on C&DW. Exploring the optimal method for automatic remote sensing identification of C&DW is an important approach for the intelligent supervision of C&DW. This study investigates the megacity of Beijing, which is facing high risk of C&DW pollution. To improve the classification accuracy of C&DW, buildings, vegetation, water, and crops were selected as comparative training samples based on the Google Earth Engine (GEE), and Sentinel-2 was used as the data source. Three classification methods of typical machine learning algorithms (classification and regression trees (CART), random forest (RF), and support vector machine (SVM)) were selected to classify the C&DW from remote sensing images. Using empirical methods, the experimental trial method, and the grid search method, the optimal parameterization scheme of the three classification methods was studied to determine the optimal method of remote sensing identification of C&DW based on machine learning. Through accuracy evaluation and ground verification, the overall recognition accuracies of CART, RF, and SVM for C&DW were 73.12%, 98.05%, and 85.62%, respectively, under the optimal parameterization scheme determined in this study. Among these algorithms, RF was a better C&DW identification method than were CART and SVM when the number of decision trees was 50. This study explores the robust machine learning method for automatic remote sensing identification of C&DW and provides a scientific basis for intelligent supervision and resource utilization of C&DW. Since underwater imaging is affected by the complex water environment, it often leads to severe distortion of the underwater image. To improve the quality of underwater images, underwater image enhancement and restoration methods have been proposed. However, many underwater image enhancement and restoration methods produce over-enhancement or under-enhancement, which affects their application. To better design underwater image enhancement and restoration methods, it is necessary to research the underwater image quality evaluation (UIQE) for underwater image enhancement and restoration methods. Therefore, a subjective evaluation dataset for an underwater image enhancement and restoration method is constructed, and on this basis, an objective quality evaluation method of underwater images, based on the relative symmetry of underwater dark channel prior (UDCP) and the underwater bright channel prior (UBCP) is proposed. Specifically, considering underwater image enhancement in different scenarios, a UIQE dataset is constructed, which contains 405 underwater images, generated from 45 different underwater real images, using 9 representative underwater image enhancement methods. Then, a subjective quality evaluation of the UIQE database is studied. To quantitatively measure the quality of the enhanced and restored underwater images with different characteristics, an objective UIQE index (UIQEI) is used, by extracting and fusing four groups of features, including: (1) the joint statistics of normalized gradient magnitude (GM) and Laplacian of Gaussian (LOG) features, based on the underwater dark channel map; (2) the joint statistics of normalized gradient magnitude (GM) and Laplacian of Gaussian (LOG) features, based on the underwater bright channel map; (3) the saturation and colorfulness features; (4) the fog density feature; (5) the global contrast feature; these features capture key aspects of underwater images. Simple Summary: African swine fever (ASF) has a significant impact on the pig industry, leading to drastic fluctuations in the supply and price of live pigs on the market, leading to substantial economic losses for farmers. As China enters the 'post-ASF' era of regular epidemic prevention and control, the behavior of farmers becomes crucial for effectively preventing and controlling major animal epidemics. To analyze the current situation and factors influencing farmers' epidemic prevention and control behaviors, survey data were empirically analyzed. The findings indicate that the overall level of biosecurity in pig farms is low. Additionally, factors such as technical training, farm size, income share, production organization, and government inspection significantly influence farmers' adoption of biosecurity measures. Effective biosecurity measures are crucial in controlling and preventing major pig diseases, ultimately ensuring farm income and social stability. This study extracted data from 205 farmer surveys in Sichuan Province, China, to construct a biosecurity index system for pig farms. The biosecurity levels of pig farms were evaluated using a projection pursuit method to identify weak areas. The Tobit model was then utilized to determine the factors that influenced the biosecurity levels. The results indicated that the overall biosecurity levels of the pig farms were low. The study found that the average biosecurity score among farms was 0.61, with a minimum score of 0.37 and a maximum score of 0.89 (on a scale of 0 to 1). These results suggest that there are significant differences in biosecurity levels among the farms. The study also found that the scores for first-level indicators related to breeding environment management, as well as second-level indicators related to personnel management and awareness of African swine fever prevention and control, were significantly lower than scores for other indicators in the farmers' biosecurity systems. This study investigated the factors influencing biosecurity on farms and found that technical training, farm size, income share, production organization, and government inspections had a significant impact on the level of biosecurity implemented. This study emphasizes the significance of biosecurity in enhancing pig farm biosecurity and its role in improving farm resilience to major animal diseases like African swine fever. Rabies is a lethal encephalitis caused by the rabies virus (RABV) with a fatality rate near 100% after the onset of clinical symptoms in humans and animals. Microglia are resident immune cells in the central nervous system. Few studies have been conducted on the functional role of microglia in RABV infection. Here, we performed a transcriptomic analysis of mRNA expression profiles in the microglia of mouse brains intracerebrally infected with RABV. We successfully isolated single microglial cells from the mouse brains. The survival rate of dissociated microglial cells was 81.91%–96.7%, and the purity was 88.3%. Transcriptomic analysis revealed 22,079 differentially expressed mRNAs identified in the microglia of mouse brains infected with RABV strains (rRC-HL, GX074, and CVS-24) of varying virulence at 4 and 7 days post-infection (dpi) compared to the control group. The numbers of DEGs versus the control at 4 and 7 dpi in mice infected with rRC-HL, GX074, and CVS-24 were 3622 and 4590, 265 and 4901, and 4079 and 6337. The GO enrichment analysis showed that response to stress, response to external stimulus, regulation of response to stimulus, and immune system process were abundant during RABV infection. The KEGG analysis indicated that the Tlr, Tnf, RIG-I, NOD, NF-κB, MAPK, and Jak-STAT signaling pathways were involved in RABV infection at both 4 and 7 dpi. However, some phagocytosis and cell signal transduction processes, such as endocytosis, p53, phospholipase D, and oxidative phosphorylation signaling pathways, were only expressed at 7 dpi. The involvement of the Tnf and Tlr signaling pathways prompted us to construct a protein–protein interaction (PPI) network of these pathways. The PPI revealed 8 DEGs, including Mmp9, Jun, Pik3r1, and Mapk12. Notably, Il-1b interacted with Tnf and Il-6 with combined scores of 0.973 and 0.981, respectively. RABV causes significant changes in mRNA expression profiles in the microglia in mice. 22,079 differentially expressed mRNAs were identified in the microglia of mice infected with RABV strains of varying virulence at 4 and 7 dpi. The DEGs were evaluated using GO, KEGG, and PPI network analysis. Many immune pathways were up-regulated in RABV-infected groups. The findings will help elucidate the microglial molecular mechanisms of cellular metabolism dysregulated by RABV and may provide important information for investigating RABV pathogenesis and therapeutic methods. Using renewable and biocompatible natural-based resources to construct functional biomaterials has attracted great attention in recent years. In this work, we successfully prepared a series of steroid-based cationic lipids by integrating various steroid skeletons/hydrophobes with (l-)-arginine headgroups via facile and efficient synthetic approach. The plasmid DNA (pDNA) binding affinity of the steroid-based cationic lipids, average particle sizes, surface potentials, morphologies and stability of the steroid-based cationic lipids/pDNA lipoplexes were disclosed to depend largely on the steroid skeletons. Cellular evaluation results revealed that cytotoxicity and gene transfection efficiency of the steroid-based cationic lipids in H1299 and HeLa cells strongly relied on the steroid hydrophobes. Interestingly, the steroid lipids/pDNA lipoplexes inclined to enter H1299 cells mainly through caveolae and lipid-raft mediated endocytosis pathways, and an intracellular trafficking route of “lipid-raft-mediated endocytosis→lysosome→cell nucleic localization” was accordingly proposed. The study provided possible approach for developing high-performance steroid-based lipid gene carriers, in which the cytotoxicity, gene transfection capability, endocytosis pathways, and intracellular trafficking/localization manners could be tuned/controlled by introducing proper steroid skeletons/hydrophobes. Noteworthy, among the lipids, Cho-Arg showed remarkably high gene transfection efficacy, even under high serum concentration (50% fetal bovine serum), making it an efficient gene transfection agent for practical application. Microfilaments and microtubules, two crucial structures of cytoskeletal networks, are usurped by various viruses for their entry, egress, and/or intracellular trafficking, including the Rabies virus (RABV). Intermediate filaments (IFs) are the third major component of cytoskeletal filaments; however, little is known about the role of IFs during the RABV infection. Here, we identified the IF protein desmin as a novel host interactor with the RABV matrix protein, and we show that this physical interaction has a functional impact on the virus lifecycle. We found that the overexpression of desmin facilitates the RABV infection by increasing the progeny virus yield, and the suppression of endogenous desmin inhibits virus replication. Furthermore, we used confocal microscopy to observe that the RABV-M co-localizes with desmin in IF bundles in the BHK-21 cells. Lastly, we found that mice challenged with RABV displayed an enhanced expression of desmin in the brains of infected animals. These findings reveal a desmin/RABV-M interaction that positively regulates the virus infection and suggests that the RABV may utilize cellular IFs as tracks for the intracellular transport of viral components and efficient budding. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can detect ground information with high precision, which provides another opportunity for the retrieval of rain. Rainfall intensities in East Asia are mainly moderate. The current retrieval algorithms have high accuracy in rainstorms, but they overestimate the rainfall intensity greatly in moderate rain. Therefore, it is very important to reduce the retrieval error of SAR in moderate rain. After analyzing the scattering model of precipitation, this paper proposes an algorithm for retrieving 2-D moderate rain distribution (MRA). Since the 2-D distribution of rain is related to the vertical and horizontal distributions, MRA combines the empirical regression equation with the directional model of rain rates at different levels to retrieve the vertical distribution of precipitation. Compared with the model-oriented statistical (MOS) algorithm, MRA reduces the root mean square error when retrieving the surface rain rate from 2.6 to 0.1. In addition, based on the high-precision rain parameters retrieved by MRA, the horizontal distribution is retrieved through the likelihood distance. Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (PKB/AKT) and mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) (PAM) pathways play important roles in breast tumorigenesis and confer worse prognosis in breast cancer patients. The inhibitors targeting three key nodes of these pathways, PI3K, AKT and mTOR, are continuously developed. For breast cancer patients to truly benefit from PAM pathway inhibitors, it is necessary to clarify the frequency and mechanism of abnormal alterations in the PAM pathway in different breast cancer subtypes, and further explore reliable biomarkers to identify the appropriate population for precision therapy. Some PI3K and mTOR inhibitors have been approved by regulatory authorities for the treatment of specific breast cancer patient populations, and many new-generation PI3K/mTOR inhibitors and AKT isoform inhibitors have also been shown to have good prospects for cancer therapy. This review summarizes the changes in the PAM signaling pathway in different subtypes of breast cancer, and the latest research progress about the biomarkers and clinical application of PAM-targeted inhibitors. There is growing concern that chemotherapy drugs can damage Leydig cells and inhibit the production of testosterone. Increasing evidence shows that melatonin benefits the reproductive process. This study mainly explores the protective effect and possible molecular mechanism of melatonin regarding cisplatin-induced oxidative stress in testicular tissue and Leydig cells. We found that there were only Leydig and Sertoli cells in the testes of gastrointestinal tumor patients with azoospermia caused by platinum chemotherapeutic drugs. Melatonin (Mel) receptor 1/melatonin receptor 2 (MT1/MT2) was mainly expressed in human and mouse Leydig cells of the testes. We also observed that the melatonin level in the peripheral blood decreased and oxidative stress occurred in mice treated with cisplatin or gastrointestinal tumor patients treated with platinum-based chemotherapeutic drugs. iTRAQ proteomics showed that SIRT1/Nrf2 signaling and MT1 proteins were downregulated in cisplatin-treated mouse testes. The STRING database predicted that MT1 might be able to regulate the SIRT1/Nrf2 signaling pathway. Melatonin reduced oxidative stress and upregulated SIRT1/Nrf2 signaling in cisplatin-treated mouse testes and Leydig cells. Most importantly, after inhibiting MT1/MT2, melatonin could not upregulate SIRT1/Nrf2 signaling in cisplatin-treated Leydig cells. The MT1/MT2 inhibitor aggravated the cisplatin-induced downregulation of SIRT1/Nrf2 signaling and increased the apoptosis of Leydig cells. This study aimed to elucidate the responses of a novel characterized Issatchenkia terricola WJL-G4 against citric acid stress by performing physiological analysis, morphology observation, and structural and membrane fatty acid composition analysis. The results showed that under citric acid stress, the cell vitality of I. terricola WJL-G4 was reduced. The cell morphology changed with the unclear, uncompleted and thinner cell wall, and degraded the cell structure. When the citric acid concentration was 20 g/L, I. terricola WJL-G4 could tolerate citric acid and maintain the cell structure by increasing the intracellular pH, superoxide dismutase activity, and contents of unsaturated fatty acids. As the citric acid concentration was ≥80 g/L, the stress has exceeded the cellular anti-stress ability, causing substantial cell damage. The cell membrane permeability, the content of membrane lipids, malondialdehyde and superoxide anion increased, but the intracellular pH and superoxide dismutase activities decreased, accompanying the increase of citric acid concentrations. The findings of this work provided a theoretical basis for the responsive mechanism of I. terricola WJL-G4 under high concentrations of citric acid, and can serve as a reference for biological acid reduction in fruit processing. Stereo video has been widely applied in various video systems in recent years. Therefore, objective stereo video quality metric (SVQM) is highly necessary for improving the watching experience. However, due to the high dimensional data in stereo video, existing metrics have some defects in accuracy and robustness. Based on the characteristics of stereo video, this paper considers the coexistence and interaction of multi-dimensional information in stereo video and proposes an SVQM based on multi-dimensional analysis (MDA-SVQM). Specifically, a temporal-view joint decomposition (TVJD) model is established by analyzing and comparing correlation in different dimensions and adaptively decomposes stereo group of frames (sGoF) into different subbands. Then, according to the generation mechanism and physical meaning of each subband, histogram-based and LOID-based features are extracted for high and low frequency subband, respectively, and sGoF quality is obtained by regression. Finally, the weight of each sGoF is calculated by spatial-temporal energy weighting (STEW) model, and final stereo video quality is obtained by weighted summation of all sGoF qualities. Experiments on two stereo video databases demonstrate that TVJD and STEW adopted in MDA-SVQM are convincible, and the overall performance of MDA-SVQM is better than several existing SVQMs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Limonin is a natural tetracyclic triterpenoid compound, which widely exists in Euodia rutaecarpa (Juss.) Benth., Phellodendron chinense Schneid., and Coptis chinensis Franch. Its extensive pharmacological effects have attracted considerable attention in recent years. However, there is no systematic review focusing on the pharmacology, toxicity, and pharmacokinetics of limonin. Therefore, this review aimed to provide the latest information on the pharmacology, toxicity, and pharmacokinetics of limonin, exploring the therapeutic potential of this compound and looking for ways to improve efficacy and bioavailability. Limonin has a wide spectrum of pharmacological effects, including anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, anti-bacterial and anti-virus, anti-oxidation, liver protection properties. However, limonin has also been shown to lead to hepatotoxicity, renal toxicity, and genetic damage. Moreover, limonin also has complex impacts on hepatic metabolic enzyme. Pharmacokinetic studies have demonstrated that limonin has poor bioavailability, and the reduction, hydrolysis, and methylation are the main metabolic pathways of limonin. We also found that the position and group of the substituents of limonin are key in affecting pharmacological activity and bioavailability. However, some issues still exist, such as the mechanism of antioxidant activity of limonin not being clear. In addition, there are few studies on the toxicity mechanism of limonin, and the effects of limonin concentration on pharmacological effects and toxicity are not clear, and no researchers have reported any ways in which to reduce the toxicity of limonin. Therefore, future research directions include the mechanism of antioxidant activity of limonin, how the concentration of limonin affects pharmacological effects and toxicity, finding ways to reduce the toxicity of limonin, and structural modification of limonin—one of the key methods necessary to enhance pharmacological activity and bioavailability. Specific biopharmaceutics classification investigation and study on phamacokinetic profile of a novel drug candidate (2-methylcarbamoyl-4-{4-[3- (trifluoromethyl) benzamido] phenoxy} pyridinium 4-methylbenzenesulfonate monohydrate, NCE) were carried out. Equilibrium solubility and intrinsic dissolution rate (IDR) of NCE were estimated in different phosphate buffers. Effective intestinal permeability (Peff) of NCE was determined using single-pass intestinal perfusion technique in rat duodenum, jejunum and ileum at three concentrations. Theophylline (high permeability) and ranitidine (low permeability) were also applied to access the permeability of NCE as reference compounds. The bioavailability after intragastrical and intravenous administration was measured in beagle dogs. The solubility of NCE in tested phosphate buffers was quite low with the maximum solubility of 81.73 µg/mL at pH 1.0. The intrinsic dissolution ratio of NCE was 1 × 10-4 mg·min-1·cm-2. The Peff value of NCE in all intestinal segments was more proximate to the high-permeability reference theophylline. Therefore, NCE was classified as class II drug according to Biopharmaceutics Classification System due to its low solubility and high intestinal permeability. In addition, concentration-dependent permeability was not observed in all the segments, indicating that there might be passive transportation for NCE. The absolute oral bioavailability of NCE in beagle dogs was 26.75%. Therefore, dissolution promotion will be crucial for oral formulation development and intravenous administration route will also be suggested for further NCE formulation development. Our previous study isolated a novel Issatchenkia terricola WJL-G4, which exhibited a potent capability of reducing citric acid. In the current study, I. terricola WJL-G4 was applied to decrease the content of citric acid in red raspberry juice, followed by the red raspberry wine preparation by Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation, aiming to investigate the influence of I. terricola WJL-G4 on the physicochemical properties, organic acids, phenolic compounds and antioxidant activities during red raspberry wine processing. The results showed that after being treated with I. terricola WJL-G4, the citric acid contents in red raspberry juice decreased from 19.14 ± 0.09 to 6.62 ± 0.14 g/L, which was further declined to 5.59 ± 0.22 g/L after S. cerevisiae fermentation. Parameters related to CIELab color space, including L*, a*, b*, h°, and ∆E* exhibited the highest levels in samples after I. terricola WJL-G4 fermentation. Compared to the red raspberry wine pretreated without deacidification (RJO-SC), wine pretreated by I. terricola WJL-G4 (RJIT-SC) exhibited significantly decreased contents of gallic acid, cryptochlorogenic acid, and arbutin, while significantly increased contents of caffeic acid, sinapic acid, raspberry ketone, quercitrin, quercetin, baicalein, and rutin. Furthermore, the antioxidant activities including DPPH· and ABTS+· radical scavenging were enhanced in RJIT-SC group as compared to RJO-SC. High content of citric acid in lemon juice leads to poor sensory experience. The study aimed to investigate the dynamics changes in organic acids, phenolic compounds, and antioxidant activities of lemon juice fermented with Issatchenkia terricola WJL-G4. The sensory evaluation of fermented lemon juice was conducted as well. Issatchenkia terricola WJL-G4 exhibited a potent capability of reducing the contents of citric acid (from 51.46 ± 0.11 g/L to 8.09 ± 0.05 g/L within 60 h fermentation) and increasing total phenolic level, flavonoid contents, and antioxidant activities compared to those of unfermented lemon juice. A total of 20 bioactive substances, including 10 phenolic acids and 10 flavonoid compounds, were detected both in fermented and unfermented lemon juice. The lemon juice fermented for 48 h had better sensory characteristics. Our findings demonstrated that lemon juice fermented with Issatchenkia terricola exhibited reduced citric acid contents, increased levels of health-promoting phenolic compounds, and enhanced antioxidant activities. A novel series of N-methylpicolinamide-4-thiol derivatives were synthesized and evaluated on human cancer cell lines. Among them, compound 6p displayed potent and broad-spectrum anti-proliferative activities in vitro on some human cancer cell lines, even better than sorafenib. The advanced kinase inhibitory assays showed that compound 6p could selectively inhibit Aurora-B kinase. A series of novel benzothiazole-2-thiol derivatives were synthesized and their structures determined by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and HRMS (ESI). The effects of all compounds on a panel of different types of human cancer cell lines were investigated. Among them, pyridinyl-2-amine linked benzothiazole-2-thiol compounds 7d, 7e, 7f and 7i exhibited potent and broad-spectrum inhibitory activities. Compound 7e displayed the most potent anticancer activity on SKRB-3 (IC50 = 1.2 nM), SW620 (IC50 = 4.3 nM), A549 (IC50 = 44 nM) and HepG2 (IC50 = 48 nM) and was found to induce apoptosis in HepG2 cancer cells. In a cell-based screen of novel anticancer agents, the hit compound 1a which bears a pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine scaffold exhibited high inhibitory activity against a panel of four different types of tumor cell lines. In particular, the IC50 for A549 cells was 2.24 μM, compared with an IC50 of 9.20 μM for doxorubicin, the positive control. Four synthetic routes of the key intermediate 3 of 1a were explored and 1a was prepared via route D on the gram scale for further research. Two analogs of 1a were synthesized and their preliminary structure-activity relationships were studied. Flow cytometric analysis revealed that compound 1a could significantly induce apoptosis in A549 cells in vitro at low micromolar concentrations. These results suggest that the target compound 1a and its analogs with the pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine scaffold might potentially constitute a novel class of anticancer agents, which requires further studies. Robust reversible watermarking in an encrypted domain is a technique that preserves privacy and protects copyright for multimedia transmission in the cloud. In general, most models of buildings and medical organs are constructed by three-dimensional (3D) models. A 3D model shared through the internet can be easily modified by an unauthorized user, and in order to protect the security of 3D models, a robust reversible 3D models watermarking method based on homomorphic encryption is necessary. In the proposed method, a 3D model is divided into non-overlapping patches, and the vertex in each patch is encrypted by using the Paillier cryptosystem. On the cloud side, in order to utilize addition and multiplication homomorphism of the Paillier cryptosystem, three direction values of each patch are computed for constructing the corresponding histogram, which is shifted to embed watermark. For obtaining watermarking robustness, the robust interval is designed in the process of histogram shifting. The watermark can be extracted from the symmetrical direction histogram, and the original encrypted model can be restored by histogram shifting. Moreover, the process of watermark embedding and extraction are symmetric. Experimental results show that compared with the existing watermarking methods in encrypted 3D models, the quality of the decrypted model is improved. Cinnamomum cassia Presl is a tropical aromatic evergreen tree of the Lauraceae family, commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine. It is also a traditional spice, widely used around the world. This paper summarizes the achievements of modern research on C. cassia, including the traditional uses, phytochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology. In addition, this review also discusses some significant issues and the potential direction of future C. cassia research. More than 160 chemicals have been separated and identified from C. cassia. The main constituents of C. cassia are terpenoids, phenylpropanoids, glycosides, etc. Modern studies have confirmed that C. cassia has a wide range of pharmacological effects, including antitumour, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, anti-diabetic and anti-obesity, antibacterial and antiviral, cardiovascular protective, cytoprotective, neuroprotective, immunoregulatory effects, anti-tyrosinase activity and other effects. However, the modern studies of C. cassia are still not complete and more in-depth investigations need to be conducted in alimentotherapy, health product, toxicity and side effects, and more bioactive components and potential pharmacological effects need to be explored in the future.
