A hierarchical population task planning method is presented to enhance the test efficiency and reliability of intelligent technology test ships under various tasks and complex limitations. Firstly, a mathematical model of the vehicle path problem for multi-voyage vessel testing is developed, which aims to minimize the ship's fixed and fuel costs, taking into account the energy and space constraints of an intelligent technology test vessel, as well as practical factors such as the dependencies and temporal relationships between test tasks. Second, to fairly minimize constraint complexity in the planning process, an offshore test task planning architecture based on the concept of hierarchical population is explored and built. This architecture separates task planning into four levels and allocates the tasks to distinct populations. Using this information, a grouping genetic algorithm is suggested based on the characteristics of the population. This algorithm uses a unique coding method to represent task clusters and narrows the range of possible solutions. The issue of the conventional grouping genetic algorithm's vast search space is resolved. Lastly, simulation verification is carried out, and the results show that the method can effectively solve the problem of offshore test task planning for intelligent technology test ships under multi-constraint conditions. Infected bone defects represent a common clinical condition involving bone tissue, often necessitating surgical intervention and antibiotic therapy. However, conventional treatment methods face obstacles such as antibiotic resistance and susceptibility to postoperative infections. Hydrogels show great potential for application in the field of tissue engineering due to their advantageous biocompatibility, unique mechanical properties, exceptional processability, and degradability. Recent interest has surged in employing hydrogels as a novel therapeutic intervention for infected bone repair. This article aims to comprehensively review the existing literature on the anti-microbial and osteogenic approaches utilized by hydrogels in repairing infected bones, encompassing their fabrication techniques, biocompatibility, antimicrobial efficacy, and biological activities. Additionally, the potential opportunities and obstacles in their practical implementation will be explored. Lastly, the limitations presently encountered and the prospective avenues for further investigation in the realm of hydrogel materials for the management of infected bone defects will be deliberated. In the current study, apple-pectin-based novel nanofibers were fabricated by electrospinning. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and apple pectin (PEC) solution were mixed to obtain an optimized ratio for the preparation of electrospun nanofibers. The obtained nanofibers were characterized for their physiochemical, mechanical and thermal properties. The nanofibers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Furthermore, an assay of the in vitro viability of free and encapsulated probiotics was carried out under simulated gastrointestinal conditions. The results of TGA revealed that the PVA/PEC nanofibers had good thermal stability. The probiotics encapsulated by electrospinning showed a high survival rate as compared to free cells under simulated gastrointestinal conditions. Furthermore, encapsulated probiotics and free cells showed a 3 log (cfu/mL) and 10 log (cfu/mL) reduction, respectively, from 30 to 120 min of simulated digestion. These findings indicate that the PVA/PEC-based nanofibers have good barrier properties and could potentially be used for the improved viability of probiotics under simulated gastrointestinal conditions and in the development of functional foods. This work studied the phase constitution, bond characteristics, and microwave dielectric performances of Sr2TiO4 ceramics. Based on XRD and Rietveld refinement analysis, pure tetragonal Ruddlesden–Popper type Sr2TiO4 ceramic is synthesized at 1425~1525 °C. Meanwhile, the microstructure is dense and without porosity, indicating its high sinterability and densification. Great microwave dielectric performances can be obtained, namely an εr value of 39.41, and a Q × f value of 93,120 GHz, when sintered at 1475 °C. Under ideal sintering conditions, the extrinsic factors are minimized and can be ignored. Thus, the intrinsic factors are considered crucial in determining microwave dielectric performances. Based on the P–V–L complex chemical bond theory calculation, the largest bond ionicity, and proportions to the bond susceptibility from Sr–O bonds suggest that Sr–O bonds mainly determine the dielectric polarizability. However, the Ti–O bonds show lattice energy about three times larger than Sr–O bonds, emphasizing that the structural stability of Sr2TiO4 ceramics is dominated by Ti–O bonds, and the Ti–O bonds are vital in determining the intrinsic dielectric loss. The helium effects in Chinese developed CN-G01 beryllium are important issues for its use in nuclear energy systems. In this work, the CN-G01 beryllium samples were irradiated with helium ions to fluences of 5.0 × 1016 ions/cm2 to 1.0 × 1018 ions/cm2 at room temperature and investigated by techniques of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nano-indentation. It was found that the irradiation induced hardening of beryllium and the nano-hardness of the samples increased with increasing fluence of 5.0 × 1016 ions/cm2 to 1.0 × 1017 ions/cm2. When the fluence reached 5.0 × 1017 ions/cm2 and 1.0 × 1018 ions/cm2, helium irradiation induced serious surface blistering and its burst. TEM observation found that helium bubbles in the damage peak region became visible when the fluence reached 1.0 × 1017 ions/cm2. With increasing fluence, helium bubbles became larger and connected into large cracks. The underlying physical mechanisms are discussed based on the helium behavior at low temperatures and the contributions of helium induced defects. Currently, intelligent ships are still in the early stages of development in terms of autonomous navigation and autonomous berthing, so almost no source of fault data can be obtained. Conducting an in-depth analysis of the failure modes of intelligent ships is critical to optimizing the design of smart ships and ensuring their normal and safe navigation. In this paper, the fixed-weight Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) is combined with the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method to analyze the failure modes and effects of intelligent ship positioning systems. This combined method not only overcomes the failure of traditional FMECA methods to differentiate between severity, incidence, and detection rates but also allows the correlation of failure causes to be analyzed, bringing the results of the analysis closer to reality. Through the expert scoring of failure modes, the failure modes of this system are risk-ranked, and the key failure causes of this system are identified. Correlations between the critical failure causes are then considered. According to the analysis results, the high-accuracy attitude sensor was identified as the subsystem with the highest level of risk. Unavoidable, unknown failures and environmental factors were found to be key factors in causing positioning system failures. This was early-stage, proof-of-concept research on the full utilization of biomass resources. The current study considered industrial hemp residue (IHR) and spent mushroom substrate (SMS) to demonstrate the initial upstream steps towards the total valorization of biomass. Accordingly, different pretreatment methods such as autohydrolysis, thermal hydrolysis, and thermochemical hydrolysis methods were employed against individual and various mix ratios of IHR and SMS. To this end, raw materials, hydrolysates, and residual solids were analyzed to gain some insights, identify gaps, and suggest future research directions in this area. Implementation of the full utilization of biomass resources is, in fact, not only a matter of transforming the resources into valuable products, but it is also a plausible waste management strategy in the quest towards the development of a circular bioeconomy and sustainable future. In the tritium breeding blanket of nuclear fusion reactors, the heat transfer behavior and thermal-mechanical response of the tritium breeder pebble bed are affected by the inner packing structure, which is crucial for the design and optimization of a reliable pebble bed in tritium breeding blanket. Thus, the effect of pebble size distribution and fixed wall effect on packing structure and contact force in the poly-disperse pebble bed were investigated by numerical simulation. The results show that pebble size distribution has a significant influence on the inner packing structure of pebble bed. With the increase of the dispersion of pebble size, the average porosity and the average coordination number of the poly-disperse pebble bed gradually decrease. Due to the influence of the fixed wall, the porosity distribution of the pebble bed shows an obvious wall effect. For poly-disperse pebble bed, the influenced region of the wall effect gradually decreases with the increase of the dispersion of pebble size. In addition, the gravity effect and the pebble size distribution have an obvious influence on the contact force distribution inside the poly-disperse pebble bed. The majority of the contact force are weak contact force that is less than the average contact force. Only a few of pebbles have strong contact force that is greater than average contact force. This investigation can help in analyzing the pebble crushing characteristics and the thermal hydraulic analysis in the poly-disperse tritium breeder pebble bed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since the fluctuation of cellular selenocysteine (Sec) concentration plays an all-important role in the development of numerous human disorders, the real-time fluorescence detection of Sec in living systems has attracted plenty of interest during the past decade. In order to obtain a faster and more sensitive small organic molecule fluorescence sensor for the Sec detection, a new ratiometric fluorescence sensor Q7 was designed based on the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) strategy with coumarin fluorophore as energy donor and 4-hydroxy naphthalimide fluorophore (with 2,4-dinitrobenzene sulfonate as fluorescence signal quencher and Sec-selective recognition site) as an energy acceptor. The sensor Q7 exhibited only a blue fluorescence signal, and displayed two well distinguished emission bands (blue and green) in the presence of Sec with ∆λ of 68 nm. Moreover, concentrations ranging of quantitative detection of Sec of Q7 was from 0 to 45 μM (limit of detection = 6.9 nM), with rapid ratiometric response, high sensitivity and selectivity capability. Impressively, the results of the living cell imaging test demonstrated Q7 has the potentiality of being an ideal sensor for real-time Sec detection in biosystems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The overexpression of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters is a common cause of multidrug resistance (MDR) in cancers. The intracellular drug concentration of cancer cells can be decreased relative to their normal cell counterparts due to increased expression of ABC transporters acting as efflux pumps of anticancer drugs. Over the past decades, antimicrobial peptides have been investigated as a new generation of anticancer drugs and some of them were reported to have interactions with ABC transporters. In this article, we investigated several novel antimicrobial peptides to see if they could sensitize ABCB1-overexpressing cells to the anticancer drugs paclitaxel and doxorubicin, which are transported by ABCB1. It was found that peptide XH-14C increased the intracellular accumulation of ABCB1 substrate paclitaxel, which demonstrated that XH-14C could reverse ABCB1-mediated MDR. Furthermore, XH-14C could stimulate the ATPase activity of ABCB1 and the molecular dynamic simulation revealed a stable binding pose of XH-14C-ABCB1 complex. There was no change on the expression level or the location of ABCB1 transporter with the treatment of XH-14C. Our results suggest that XH-14C in combination with conventional anticancer agents could be used as a novel strategy for cancer treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
