Complete separation of the deferent duct from the epididymis in cryptorchid testes residing in the abdomen is an extremely rare variant of developmental disorders of the testis and epididymis. Available sources mention only three clinical cases similar to our observations. The unique anatomic aspects of this disorder hamper the correct diagnosis of an intra-abdominal cryptorchid testis. Two boys with nonpalpable left-sided cryptorchidism underwent diagnostic laparoscopy, revealing an intra-abdominally located testis. The epididymis was completely separated from the deferent duct, and the epididymis and testis were supplied by testicular vessels. Exploration of the inguinal canal revealed blind-ending deferent ducts. The testis was brought down through the inguinal canal and fixed in the scrotum in both boys. The follow-up examination at 6 months revealed no signs of testicular atrophy or malposition of the testis in either patient. With our observations in mind, the exclusive use of a transscrotal or transinguinal approach as the initial surgical exploration in the treatment of patients with nonpalpable forms of cryptorchidism may be inappropriate. Careful laparoscopic examination of the abdominal cavity is indispensable in children with suspected testicular regression syndrome or nonpalpable forms of cryptorchidism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Currently, the whole world is acutely concerned with the selection of effective treatment regimens for oncological diseases. This problem is becoming more and more catastrophic every year due to the phenomenon of multidrug resistance, the consequence of which is the loss of the effectiveness of drugs against tumor cells. One of the solutions to the problem described above is the synthesis of new low molecular weight compounds that can effectively affect molecular cellular targets, for example, enzymes of the cell cycle, and, as a consequence, interrupt DNA synthesis, contributing to tumor death. Within the framework of this article, we carried out the Z-stereoselective synthesis of natural unsaturated acids containing a 1Z,5Z,9Z-triene moiety, for which it was shown that they are effective inhibitors of human topoisomerase I, and also affect mitochondria. At the same time, using multiplex analysis, the activation of signaling pathways was studied and a probable mechanism of the antitumor action of the synthesized trienoic acids was proposed. The first Z-stereoselective method was developed for the synthesis of unsaturated acids containing a 1Z,5Z,9Z-triene moiety in 61–64% yields using the new Ti-catalyzed cross-coupling of oxygen-containing and aliphatic 1,2-dienes as the key synthetic step. It was shown for the first time that trienoic acids with non-methylene-interrupted Z-double bonds show moderate cytotoxic activities against tumor cell lines (Jurkat, K562, U937, HL60, HeLa), human embryonic kidney cells (Hek293), normal fibroblasts and human topoisomerase I (hTop1) inhibitory activity in vitro. The synthesized acids efficiently initiate apoptosis of Jurkat tumor cells, with the cell death mechanism being activated by the mitochondrial pathway. A probable mechanism of topoisomerase I inhibition was also hypothesized on the basis of in silico studies resorting to docking. Ni/60WC coatings on copper substrate were placed via laser deposition (LD). A structural study was conducted using electron microscopy and a microhardness evaluation. Two body abrasive wear tests were conducted with a pin-on-plate reciprocating technique. A tool steel X12MF GOST 5960 (C-Cr-Mo-V 1.6-12-0.5-0.2) with a hardness of 63 HRC was used as a counterpart. The following results were obtained: Precipitation of the secondary carbides takes place in the thicker layers. Their hardness is lower than that of the primary carbides in the deposition (2425 HV vs. 2757 HV) because they mix with the matrix material. In the thin layers, precipitation is restricted due to a higher cooling rate. For both LD coatings, the carbide's hardness increases compared to the initial mono-tungsten carbide (WC)-containing powder (2756 HV vs. 2200 HV). Such a high level of microhardness reflects the combined influence of a low level of thermal destruction of carbides during laser deposition and the formation of a boride-strengthening phase from the matrix powder. The thicker layer showed a higher wear resistance; weight loss was 20% lower. The changes in the thickness of the laser deposited Ni-WC coating altered its structure and wear resistance.
