The seriousness of vessel air pollution has forced the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to introduce a series of relevant laws and regulations. This paper proposes a monitoring scheme based on the synergistic operation of motherships and UAVs. This scheme innovatively adopts a harbor sea patrol vessel or the other official vessel (mothership) as the mobile power supply base for UAVs and realizes efficient and accurate monitoring of vessel air pollution in the pre-monitored area at sea by carrying multiple UAVs. The focus of this paper is on the path optimization problem for multi-UAV collaboration with mothership (MUCWM) monitoring, where the objective is to minimize the total monitoring time for MUCWM. The following three main aspects are studied in this paper: (1) multi-UAV monitoring path optimization; (2) the collaboration mechanism between the mothership and multiple UAVs; and (3) mothership traveling path optimization. In order to effectively solve the above problems, this thesis constructs a path optimization model for multi-UAV collaborative mothership monitoring of air pollution from vessels in port waters; solves the model using the improved adaptive differential evolution (IADE) algorithm; and verifies the effectiveness of the model and the algorithm by using the position data in the Automatic Identification System (AIS) of vessels in Ningbo Zhoushan Port. Through the performance comparison and sensitivity analysis of the algorithm, it is confirmed that the algorithm can effectively solve the path planning problem of the collaborative operation between the mothership and multiple UAVs. The research results in this paper not only help to reduce the air pollution level of harbor vessels and improve the efficiency of sea cruising but also play an important supporting role in the enforcement of relevant emission regulations. The composite stiffened plate has garnered significant attention in the lightweight design of ship structures due to its superior mechanical properties. Although it reduces the structural weight, it also increases vibration sensitivity. Thus, investigating the vibration characteristics of the composite stiffened plate is crucial. This paper proposed a theoretical model based on the energy principle and the improved Fourier series method (IFSM) to analyze the composite stiffened plate vibration characteristics. The model demonstrates high reliability and accuracy, as confirmed through convergence analysis and comparison with experimental results from the published literature. Results indicate that geometry and material parameters significantly impact the natural frequency and can mitigate vibration responses by increasing thickness and stiffness. Additionally, ply design parameters markedly influence the vibration of composite stiffened plates, enhancing low-frequency vibration performance through optimal ply design. The structural parameters of the stiffeners, particularly the height and number of stiffeners, play a crucial role, enhancing stiffness and reducing the vibration responses of the composite stiffened plates. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), as the third leading cause of death worldwide, is a major global health issue. The early detection and grading of COPD are pivotal for effective treatment. Traditional spirometry tests, requiring considerable physical effort and strict adherence to quality standards, pose challenges in COPD diagnosis. Volumetric capnography (VCap), which can be performed during natural breathing without requiring additional compliance, presents a promising alternative tool. In this study, the dataset comprised 279 subjects with normal pulmonary function and 148 patients diagnosed with COPD. We introduced a novel quantitative analysis method for VCap. Volumetric capnograms were converted into two-dimensional grayscale images through the application of Gramian Angular Field (GAF) transformation. Subsequently, a multi-scale convolutional neural network, CapnoNet, was conducted to extract features and facilitate classification. To improve CapnoNet's performance, two data augmentation techniques were implemented. The proposed model exhibited a detection accuracy for COPD of 95.83%, with precision, recall, and F1 measures of 95.21%, 95.70%, and 95.45%, respectively. In the task of grading the severity of COPD, the model attained an accuracy of 96.36%, complemented by precision, recall, and F1 scores of 88.49%, 89.99%, and 89.15%, respectively. This work provides a new perspective for the quantitative analysis of volumetric capnography and demonstrates the strong performance of the proposed CapnoNet in the diagnosis and grading of COPD. Prickly ash peel oleoresin (PPO) is a highly concentrated oil of Prickly ash essential oil and has a stronger aroma. However, its low water solubility, high volatility, difficulty in transport and storage, and decomposition by light, heat, and oxygen limit its wider application. To solve this problem, this study used freeze-drying or spray-drying, with soybean protein isolate (SPI) or gum Arabic (GA), combined with aqueous maltodextrin (MD) as the encapsulating agents to prepare four types of PPO microcapsules (POMs). Spray-dried microcapsules with GA as the encapsulating agent achieved a high encapsulation efficiency (EE) of 92.31 ± 0.31%, improved the thermal stability of the PPO, and had spherical morphology. (Headspace solid-phase microextraction/gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) HS-SPME/GC-MS detected 41 volatile compounds in PPO; of these, linalool, β-myrcene, sabinene, and D-limonene were identified as key flavor components. Principal component analysis (PCA) effectively distinguished the significant differences in flavor between PPO, spray-dried SPI/MD microcapsules (SS), and spray-dried GA/MD microcapsules (SG). During 15 days of air-exposure, the loss of flavor from SG (54.62 ± 0.54%) was significantly lower than PPO (79.45 ± 1.45%) and SS (57.55 ± 0.36%). During the air-exposure period, SG consistently had the highest antioxidant capacity, making it desirable for PPO packaging, and expanding its potential applications within the food industry. Micro-light-emitting diodes (μLEDs), with their advantages of high response speed, long lifespan, high brightness, and reliability, are widely regarded as the core of next-generation display technology. However, due to issues such as high manufacturing costs and low external quantum efficiency (EQE), μLEDs have not yet been truly commercialized. Additionally, the color conversion efficiency (CCE) of quantum dot (QD)-μLEDs is also a major obstacle to its practical application in the display industry. In this review, we systematically summarize the recent applications of nanomaterials and nanostructures in μLEDs and discuss the practical effects of these methods on enhancing the luminous efficiency of μLEDs and the color conversion efficiency of QD-μLEDs. The production of peanut oil in the industrial sector necessitates the utilization of diverse raw materials to generate consistent batches with stable flavor profiles, thereby leading to an increased focus on understanding the correlation between raw materials and flavor characteristics. In this study, sensory evaluations, headspace solid-phase micro-extraction gas chromatography mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS), odor activity value (OAV) calculations, and correlation analysis were employed to investigate the flavors and main contributing amino acids of hot-pressed oils derived from different peanut varieties. The results confirmed that the levels of alcohols, aldehydes, and heterocyclic compounds in peanut oil varied among nine different peanut varieties under identical processing conditions. The OAVs of 25 key aroma compounds, such as methylthiol, 3-ethyl-2,5-dimethylpyrazine, and 2,3-glutarone, exceeded a value of 1. The sensory evaluations and flavor content analysis demonstrated that pyrazines significantly influenced the flavor profile of the peanut oil. The concentrations of 11 amino acids showed a strong correlation with the levels of pyrazines. Notably, phenylalanine, lysine, glutamic acid, arginine, and isoleucine demonstrated significant associations with both pyrazine and nut flavors. This study investigates the asymptotic synchronization in fractional memristive neural networks of the Riemann–Liouville type, considering mixed time delays and jump mismatches. Addressing the challenges associated with discrepancies in the circuit switching speed and the accuracy of the memristor, this paper introduces an enhanced model that effectively navigates these complexities. We propose two novel event-based hybrid impulsive controllers, each characterized by unique triggering conditions. Utilizing advanced techniques in inequality and hybrid impulsive control, we establish the conditions necessary for achieving synchronization through innovative Lyapunov functions. Importantly, the developed controllers are theoretically optimized to minimize control costs, an essential consideration for their practical deployment. In this work, the morphology, anti-corrosion performance and degradation mechanisms of two phosphate chemical conversion coatings containing the AEO (fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether) and AES (fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sodium sulfate) on an as-cast Mg-8wt.%Li alloy were explored and compared. Although two coating layers had a petal-shaped structure and were composed of leaf-shaped particles, the coating layer of the AES-coated sample was relatively dense due to the smaller size of the formed petal-shaped structure. Based on the electrochemical data and hydrogen evolution measurements, the corrosion protectability of the coating layer on the AES-coated sample was better than that on the AEO-coated sample. The determined corrosion current densities (icorr) of the AES-coated and AEO-coated samples in the 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution were, respectively, 7.8 mA·cm−2 and 11.7 mA·cm−2, whereas the icorr value of the coated sample without a surfactant was 36.2 mA·cm−2. With the increase in application of solar PV systems, it is of great significance to develop and investigate direct current (DC)-powered equipment in buildings with flexible operational strategies. A promising piece of building equipment integrated in PV-powered buildings, DC inverter heat pump systems often operate with strategies either focused on the power supply side or on the building demand side. In this regard, the aim of this study was to investigate the operational strategy of a DC inverter heat pump system for application in an office building with a PV power system. Firstly, the PV power fluctuation and demand-side load characteristics were analyzed. Then, a series of heat transfer and heat pump system models were developed. A reference building model was developed for simulating the performance of the system. A control logic of the DC inverter heat pump was proposed with a certain level of flexibility and capability considering both the characteristics of the PV power generation and the demand-side heating load. MATLAB/Simulink 2021 software was used for simulation. The simulation results show that the DC inverter heat pump is able to regulate its own power according to the change signal of the bus voltage such that the DC distribution network can achieve power balance and thus provide enough energy for a room. This study can provide a reference for developing flexible operational strategies for DC inverter heat pump systems. The B-box (BBX) gene family includes zinc finger protein transcription factors that regulate a multitude of physiological and developmental processes in plants. While BBX gene families have been previously determined in various plants, the members and roles of peanut BBXs are largely unknown. In this research, on the basis of the genome-wide identification of BBXs in three peanut species (Arachis hypogaea, A. duranensis, and A. ipaensis), we investigated the expression profile of the BBXs in various tissues and in response to salt and drought stresses and selected AhBBX6 for functional characterization. We identified a total of 77 BBXs in peanuts, which could be grouped into five subfamilies, with the genes from the same branch of the same subgroup having comparable exon–intron structures. In addition, a significant number of cis-regulatory elements involved in the regulation of responses to light and hormones and abiotic stresses were found in the promoter region of peanut BBXs. Based on the analysis of transcriptome data and qRT-PCR, we identified AhBBX6, AhBBX11, AhBBX13, and AhBBX38 as potential genes associated with tolerance to salt and drought. Silencing AhBBX6 using virus-induced gene silencing compromised the tolerance of peanut plants to salt and drought stresses. The results of this study provide knowledge on peanut BBXs and establish a foundation for future research into their functional roles in peanut development and stress response. During the construction of deep foundation pits in subways, it is crucial to closely monitor the horizontal displacement of the pit enclosure to ensure stability and safety, and to reduce the risk of structural damage caused by pit deformations. With advancements in machine-learning (ML) techniques and correlation analysis in engineering, data-driven methods that combine ML with engineering monitoring data have become increasingly popular. These methods offer benefits such as high prediction accuracy, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. The main goal of this study was to develop a machine-learning method for predicting the enclosure deformation of deep foundation pits. This was achieved by analyzing the factors influencing deep foundation-pit enclosure deformation and incorporating historical cases and monitoring reports. The performance of each machine-learning prediction model was systematically analyzed and evaluated using K-Fold cross validation. The results revealed that the random forest model outperformed the other models. The result of the test data showed that the random forest model achieved an R2 of 0.9905, an MAE of 0.8572 mm, and an RMSE of 1.9119 mm. Feature importance analysis identified the depth of enclosure structure, water level, surface settlement, axial force, and exposure time as the most critical factors for accurate prediction. Tension control in cold-rolling pilot mills (CRPMs) with hydraulic tension is subject to extraneous forces resulting from positional disturbances, strong coupling, and time-varying characteristics, making it challenging to achieve ideal control results using the existing control methods. Therefore, in this study, a mathematical model of tension is first derived and then used to analyze the properties and difficulties associated with tension control. Second, a hydraulic servo-control system based on servovalves and proportional pressure relief valves is developed. In this system, redundant feedforward flow is generated by a servovalve according to the rolling schedule. The surplus flow is absorbed by a proportional pressure relief valve in the closed-loop control of tension. Third, simulation analysis is performed. Under severe friction disturbance (maximum 0.2 kN), and with the wide range of forward and backward slip, an accuracy of ±0.27 kN in tension control can still be achieved using the proposed control strategy, thereby demonstrating its effectiveness. Moreover, it has obvious advantages over existing control methods. Finally, an experimental study of tension is carried out in the cold-rolling mill with a maximum tension capacity of 50 kN, achieving ±0.2 kN tension control precision in the multipass rolling process. Multipath effects are the most challenging error sources for the Global Navigation Satellite System receiver, affecting observation quality and positioning accuracy. Due to the non-linear and time-varying nature, multipath error is difficult to process. Previous studies used a homogeneous indicator to characterize multipath effects and only revealed the temporal or spatial correlations of the multipath, resulting in limited correction performance. In this study, we consider the code multipath to be influenced not only by the elevation and azimuth angle of certain stations to satellites but also to be related to satellite characteristics such as nadir angle. Hence, azimuth angle, elevation angle, nadir angle and carrier-to-noise power density ratio are taken as multiple indicators to characterize the multipath significantly. Then, we propose an Attention-based Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (AT-Conv-LSTM) that fully exploits the spatiotemporal correlations of multipath derived from multiple indicators. The main processing procedures using AT-Conv-LSTM are given. Finally, the AT-Conv-LSTM is applied to a station for 16 consecutive days to verify the multipath mitigation effectiveness. Compared with sidereal filtering, multipath hemispherical map (MHM) and trend-surface analysis-based MHM, the experimental results show that using AT-Conv-LSTM can decrease the root mean square error and mean absolute error values of the multipath error more than 60% and 13%, respectively. The proposed method can correct the code multipath to centimeter level, which is one order of magnitude lower than the uncorrected code multipath. Therefore, the proposed AT-Conv-LSTM network could be used as a powerful alternative tool to realize multipath reduction and will be of wide practical value in the fields of standard and high-precision positioning services. Verticillum dahliae is a soil-borne phytopathogenic fungus causing destructive Verticillium wilt disease. We previously found a trehalase-encoding gene (VdPT1) in V. dahliae being significantly up-regulated after sensing root exudates from a susceptible cotton variety. In this study, we characterized the function of VdPT1 in the growth and virulence of V. dahliae using its deletion-mutant strains. The VdPT1 deletion mutants (ΔVdPT1) displayed slow colony expansion and mycelial growth, reduced conidial production and germination rate, and decreased mycelial penetration ability and virulence on cotton, but exhibited enhanced stress resistance, suggesting that VdPT1 is involved in the growth, pathogenesis, and stress resistance of V. dahliae. Host-induced silencing of VdPT1 in cotton reduced fungal biomass and enhanced cotton resistance against V. dahliae. Comparative transcriptome analysis between wild-type and mutant identified 1480 up-regulated and 1650 down-regulated genes in the ΔVdPT1 strain. Several down-regulated genes encode plant cell wall-degrading enzymes required for full virulence of V. dahliae to cotton, and down-regulated genes related to carbon metabolism, DNA replication, and amino acid biosynthesis seemed to be responsible for the decreased growth of the ΔVdPT1 strain. In contrast, up-regulation of several genes related to glycerophospholipid metabolism in the ΔVdPT1 strain enhanced the stress resistance of the mutated strain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the service process of gears, premature fatigue failure or fracture of gears is often caused by poor surface performance. 20CrNiMo steel is a commonly used material for gears. Laser-shock peening (LSP), carburizing treatment (CT), and hybrid modification of carburizing treatment and laser-shock peening (LSP + CT) were carried out to improve the performance of 20CrNiMo steel. The hardness, residual stress, microstructure, subgrain size, and toughness of the samples were analyzed following various modification methods. It was observed that the properties of the composite-modified gradient structure materials achieved through carburizing and laser-shock peening were superior to those modified using single methods. After the composite treatment of carburizing and laser shocking, the samples exhibited the most significant increase in hardness, up to 916HV0.1, with a surface layer experiencing residual compressive stress as low as −635 MPa. Simultaneously, a gradient microstructure was formed on the surface layer, with 80% of the crystallites being in the nanoscale range. Furthermore, the toughness was notably enhanced. Experimental results confirm the improvement in the properties of 20CrNiMo samples, resulting in the creation of a functionally graded material through the composite treatment of carburizing and laser shocking. In high-traffic harbor waters, marine radar frequently encounters signal interference stemming from various obstructive elements, thereby presenting formidable obstacles in the precise identification of ships. To achieve precise pixel-level ship identification in the complex environments, a customized neural network-based ship segmentation algorithm named MrisNet is proposed. MrisNet employs a lightweight and efficient FasterYOLO network to extract features from radar images at different levels, capturing fine-grained edge information and deep semantic features of ship pixels. To address the limitation of deep features in the backbone network lacking detailed shape and structured information, an adaptive attention mechanism is introduced after the FasterYOLO network to enhance crucial ship features. To fully utilize the multi-dimensional feature outputs, MrisNet incorporates a Transformer structure to reconstruct the PANet feature fusion network, allowing for the fusion of contextual information and capturing more essential ship information and semantic correlations. In the prediction stage, MrisNet optimizes the target position loss using the EIoU function, enabling the algorithm to adapt to ship position deviations and size variations, thereby improving segmentation accuracy and convergence speed. Experimental results demonstrate MrisNet achieves high recall and precision rates of 94.8% and 95.2%, respectively, in ship instance segmentation, outperforming various YOLO and other single-stage algorithms. Moreover, MrisNet has a model parameter size of 13.8M and real-time computational cost of 23.5G, demonstrating notable advantages in terms of convolutional efficiency. In conclusion, MrisNet accurately segments ships with different spot features and under diverse environmental conditions in marine radar images. We investigate the time domain characterization of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) based on an on-chip electro-optic sampling (EOS) system for millimeter waveform metrology. The CPW is fabricated on a thin layer of low-temperature gallium arsenide (LT-GaAs), and the substrate material is GaAs. A femtosecond laser generates and detects ultrashort pulses on the CPW. The forward propagating pulses are simulated using a simplified current source for the femtosecond laser at different positions on the CPW for the first time. Then, the influences of the CPW geometry parameters on the measured pulses are discussed. The varying slot width has larger influences on the amplitude of millimeter wave pulses than the center conductor width and the pumping gap. Finally, in the frequency range of 10 GHz to 500 GHz, the transfer functions calculated by the time domain pulses are in good agreement with the transfer functions calculated by the frequency domain ports. Simple Summary: Lack of a tumor-specific antigen as the target and an inhospitable tumor environment limit the clinical application of Chimeric antigen receptor-engineered T cells (CAR Ts) in solid tumors, compared with its unprecedented results in treating hematological cancers, while tumor-infiltrating T lymphocytes (TIL) exhibit diverse T cell receptor clonality and superior tumor-homing abilities. In our study, we took advantage of the dual advantages of TIL-T and CAR T and constructed TIL CAR-T cells capable of MHC molecules and co-stimulatory signal-independent activation with tumor-specific broad-spectrum TCR expression. We innovatively constructed a humanized mouse colorectal cancer model, which provides an important platform for subsequent evaluation of human CD19-target CAR T cells. Meanwhile, TIL CAR-T cells have better anti-tumor efficacy than conventional CAR T, characterized by a better ability to enhance tumor invasion, relieve T cell exhaustion, and promote immune memory. Chimeric antigen receptor-engineered T cells (CAR Ts) targeting CD19 have shown unprecedented prognosis in treating hematological cancers. However, the lack of a tumor-specific antigen as the target and an inhospitable tumor environment limit the clinical application of CAR T in solid tumors. Tumor-infiltrating T lymphocytes (TIL) exhibit diverse T cell receptor clonality and superior tumor-homing abilities. Therefore, in our study, human CD19-target TIL CAR-Ts armed with CD3ζ and 4-1BB signaling domains were constructed. Mouse colorectal cancer CT26 cells expressing human CD19 (hCD19+-CT26) were developed to assess the anti-tumor activity of TIL CAR-T cells, both in vitro and in vivo. Compared with splenic CAR T adoptive transfer, TIL CAR-T administration showed superior tumor suppression ability in hCD19+-CT26 tumor-bearing mice. Furthermore, more T cells were found at the tumor site and had lower exhaustion-related inhibitory receptor (T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 3, Tim3) expression and higher immune memory molecule (CD62L) expression. Overall, we provided an artificial tumor-specific antigen in solid tumors and demonstrated that combined CAR-expressing TIL-Ts (TIL CAR-Ts) exhibited strong anti-tumor activity, with improved T cell infiltration and immune memory. High-precision and low-overshoot force control are important to guarantee the material removal rate and surface quality of robot grinding. However, traditional force control methods are subjected to positional disturbance, stiffness disturbance, contact process nonlinearity, and force-position coupling, leading to difficulties in robot constant force control. Therefore, how to achieve smooth, stable, and high-precision constant force control is an urgent problem. To address this problem, a dual PID adaptive variable impedance control is established (DPAVIC). Firstly, PD control is used to compensate for the force error, and PID is used to update the damping parameters to compensate for the disturbance. Secondly, a nonlinear tracking differentiator is used to smooth the desired force and reduce the contact force overshoot. Then, the stability, convergence, and effectiveness of the force control algorithm are verified via theoretical analysis, simulations, and experiments. The force tracking error and overshoot of a conventional impedance controller (CIC), adaptive variable impedance control (AVIC), and DPAVIC are analyzed. Finally, the algorithm is used in grinding experiments on a thin-walled workpiece. Central Asia is one of the most sensitive regions to climate changes in the world and the grassland degradation of this region has attracted considerable concern. Quantifying the driving force of grassland degradation is important for understanding the effects of climate variation and human activities on grassland. In this study, net primary productivity (NPP) was selected as an indicator to quantitatively evaluate the relative role of climate variation and human activities in Central Asia from 2000 to 2020. This study used the global NPP product MOD17A3 as actual NPP and estimated the potential NPP using the Thornthwaite memorial model. The potential NPP and the difference between the potential NPP and actual NPP were used to represent the influence of climate variation and human activities. The grassland degradation or restoration can be demonstrated by the slope of actual NPP (SA). A positive slope value (SA) suggested that restoration occurs, whereas a negative slope value suggested that degradation occurred. The results showed that 23.08% of the total grassland area experienced grassland degradation, whereas 2.51% of the whole grassland underwent grassland restoration. Furthermore, 53.8% of the degraded grassland areas were influenced by climate variation, and 14.5% were caused by human activities. By contrast, the relative roles of climate variation and human activities in grassland restoration were 25% and 47.9%, respectively. The NPP variation also could be calculated by assessing the effects of these factors and the results showed that 55.7% of the NPP decrease was caused by climate variation, whereas 9.6% was a result of human activities. On the contrary, climate variation and human activities resulted in 19.8% and 37.3% of grassland restoration, respectively. Therefore, climate variation was the dominant factor of grassland degradation, and human activities were the main driver of grassland restoration in Central Asia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Single LiNbO3 (LNO) crystals are widely utilized in surface acoustic wave devices, optoelectronic devices, and novel ferroelectric memory devices due to their remarkable electro-optic and piezoelectric properties, and high saturation and remnant polarizations. However, challenges remain regarding their nanofabrication that hinder their applications. The prevailing etching techniques for LNO encompass dry etching, wet etching, and focused-ion-beam etching, each having distinct merits and demerits. Achieving higher etching rates and improved sidewall angles presents a challenge in LNO nanofabrication. Building upon the current etching researches, this study explores various etching methods using instruments capable of generating diverse plasma densities, such as dry etching in reactive ion etching (RIE) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP), proton exchange-enhanced etching, and wet chemical etching following high-temperature reduction treatment, as well as hybrid dry and wet etching. Ultimately, after employing RIE dry etching combined with wet etching, following a high-temperature reduction treatment, an etching rate of 10 nm/min and pretty 90° sidewall angles were achieved. Furthermore, high etching rates of 79 nm/min with steep sidewall angles of 83° were obtained using ICP dry etching. Additionally, using SiO2 masks, a high etching rate of 108 nm/min and an etching selectivity ratio of 0.86:1 were achieved. Male hypogonadism arises from the inadequate production of testosterone (T) by the testes, primarily due to Leydig cell (LC) dysfunction. Small molecules possess several advantages, including high cell permeability, ease of synthesis, standardization, and low effective concentration. Recent investigations have illuminated the potential of small molecule combinations to facilitate direct lineage reprogramming, removing the need for transgenes by modulating cellular signaling pathways and epigenetic modifications. In this study, we have identified a specific cocktail of small molecules, comprising forskolin, DAPT, purmorphamine, 8-Br-cAMP, 20α-hydroxycholesterol, and SAG, capable of promoting the conversion of fibroblasts into Leydig-like cells (LLCs). These LLCs expressed key genes involved in testosterone synthesis, such as Star, Cyp11a1, and Hsd3b1, and exhibited the ability to secrete testosterone in vitro. Furthermore, they successfully restored serum testosterone levels in testosterone-castrated mice in vivo. The small molecule cocktails also induced alterations in the epigenetic marks, specifically H3K4me3, and enhanced chromosomal accessibility on core steroidogenesis genes. Desert ecosystems possess an astonishing biodiversity and are rich in endangered species. This study investigated characteristics of species diversity and soil environmental factors in three major deserts of China's Alxa Plateau. The Alxa Desert included 183 plant species belonging to 109 genera and 35 families. The highest numbers of plant species belonged to the Compositae, Gramineae, and Chenopodiaceae families. The research area belongs to the semi-shrub and small semi-shrub deserts in temperate deserts. Species diversity was low, with the Shannon–Wiener index (H′) of shrub-herb = shrub > herb > tree. The Pielou evenness index (E) of shrub herb vegetation was the lowest, indicating more enriched species and fewer sparse species in the community, and that these types of vegetation had the characteristics of rich and obviously dominant species. Redundancy analysis (RDA) and correlations between the comprehensive plant community biodiversity index and soil factors indicated that soil-available phosphorus (NP), organic matter (SOM), and electrical conductivity (EC) had significant impacts on community species diversity. The herbaceous shrub community exhibited the highest H′, Simpson index (D), species richness index (S), soil moisture (SW), and soil nutrients. Planting Calligonum mongolicum, Ephedra membranacea, Artemisia annua, and Phragmites australis to form a typical desert shrub community for community diversity protection is recommended to effectively protect and restore desert ecosystems. In the study, edible films were successfully prepared by incorporating soybean oil body (SOB) into sodium alginate-sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (SA-CMC) matrix. The effects of different concentrations (0–4% w/w) of SOB on the physicochemical and antioxidant activities of films were systematically evaluated based on mechanical strength, barrier properties, thermal stability, and preservation effect. Findings revealed that the oxidation resistance, water vapor barrier, and thermal stability enhanced after the addition of SOB, while the water content, water solubility, and swelling rate decreased. When 3% SOB was added, the edible film performed the best in terms of mechanical properties and thermal stability; water vapor permeability was reduced by 21.89% compared to the control group, and the fresh life of pigeon meat was extended by 5–7 days. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses showed that the addition of SOB results in a more stable molecular structure network, which improved its physical properties. Overall, the findings indicated that SOB improved the quality of edible films as an environmentally friendly food packaging material and increased the feasibility of edible film application in the food industry. Osteoporosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that severely affects quality of life. Cornus officinalis is a Chinese herbal medicine with various bioactive ingredients, among which morroniside is its signature ingredient. Although anti-bone resorption drugs are the main treatment for bone loss, promoting bone anabolism is more suitable for increasing bone mass. Therefore, identifying changes in bone formation induced by morroniside may be conducive to developing effective intervention methods. In this study, morroniside was found to promote the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) and inhibit inflammation-induced bone loss in an in vivo mouse model of inflammatory bone loss. Morroniside enhanced bone density and bone microstructure, and inhibited the expression of IL6, IL1β, and ALP in serum (p < 0.05). Furthermore, in in vitro experiments, BMSCs exposed to 0–256 μM morroniside did not show cytotoxicity. Morroniside inhibited the expression of IL6 and IL1β and promoted the expression of the osteogenic transcription factors Runx2 and OCN. Furthermore, morroniside promoted osteocalcin and Runx2 expression and inhibited TRAF6-mediated NF-κB and MAPK signaling, as well as osteoblast growth and NF-κB nuclear transposition. Thus, morroniside promoted osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs, slowed the occurrence of the inflammatory response, and inhibited bone loss in mice with inflammatory bone loss. Volatile compounds (VOCs) present in the oil extracted from yellow horn seeds were first analyzed using GC-IMS and GC-O-MS at varying roasting temperatures. A total of 97 VOCs were detected using GC-IMS, while 77 were tentatively identified using GC-O-MS. Moreover, both methods allowed the identification of 24 VOCs, of which the type of aldehydes is the most abundant. Combining the results of GC-IMS, GC-O-MS, OAVs, and VIP, it was concluded that hexanal, 2,5-dimethylpyrazine, heptanal, 2-pentylfuran, 1-hexanol, and 1-octen-3-ol were the key aroma compounds. The PLS-DA and OPLS-DA models have demonstrated the ability to discriminate between different oil roasting temperatures with high accuracy. The roasting temperature of 160 °C was found to yield the highest content of main aroma substances, indicating its optimality for yellow horn seed oil production. With the rapid spread of mobile devices and the Internet, mobile interactive video advertising has become an increasingly popular means of accessing advertising information for a large number of users. Interactive narratives are advertisements that require collaboration between consumers and designers to complete the story. Interactive narratives influence marketing impact and the advertising experience. Building on previous research, this study delves deeper into the design methods of interactive narratives for mobile video advertisements. We developed various interactive narrative samples by controlling video quality parameters, content, and product involvement, and then measured consumer perceptions of these samples in a laboratory environment. The results indicate that six design methods for interactive narratives foster positive perceptions, immersion, and satisfaction in advertisements with low product involvement. For ads with a high degree of product involvement, two design methods can achieve positive consumer perceptions of interactive narratives. This study offers insights for businesses and interaction designers aiming to advance the commercial use of mobile interactive video advertising. Simple Summary: Priapulida form a small relict group of marine invertebrates characterized by a vermiform shape, an annulated trunk, and an eversible anterior part. Worms with a comparable body plan were diverse and abundant throughout the Cambrian Era, although uncertainties remain concerning their relation to modern priapulids. The problem lies in the lack of morphological detail (ornament, symmetry) available from Cambrian worms and the fact that a comprehensive phylogeny of Cambrian worms with a robust homology framework is not available to define priapulids. The exceptionally preserved worm Ercaivermis sparios, described here from the early Cambrian of China, displays an unusual octagonal symmetry, suggesting that different symmetry types may have co-existed in the early history of Priapulida, before five-fold symmetry was naturally selected to become overwhelmingly dominant. The vast majority of early Paleozoic ecdysozoan worms are often resolved as stem-group Priapulida based on resemblances with the rare modern representatives of the group, such as the structure of the introvert and the number and distribution of scalids (a spiny cuticular outgrowth) and pharyngeal teeth. In Priapulida, both scalids and teeth create symmetry patterns, and three major diagnostic features are generally used to define the group: 25 longitudinal rows of scalids (five-fold symmetry), 8 scalids around the first introvert circle and the pentagonal arrangement of pharyngeal teeth. Here we describe Ercaivermis sparios gen. et sp. nov., a new priapulid from the early Cambrian Chengjiang Lagerstätte, characterized by an annulated trunk lacking a sclerotized ornament, four pairs of anal hooks and 16 longitudinal rows of scalids along its introvert and eight scalids around each introvert circle, giving the animal an unusual octoradial symmetry. Cladistic analyses resolve Ercaivermis as a stem-group priapulid. Ercaivermis also suggests that several biradial symmetry patterns (e.g., pentagonal, octagonal) expressed in the cuticular ornament, may have co-existed among early Cambrian priapulids and that the pentaradial mode may have become rapidly dominant during the course of evolution, possibly via the standardization of patterning, i.e., the natural selection of one symmetry type over others. This study aimed to optimize machining parameters to obtain better surface roughness and remnant depth ratio values under dry turning of NiTi-shape memory alloy (SMA). During the turning experiments, various machining parameters were used, including three different cutting speeds vc (105, 144, and 200 m/min), three different feed rates f (0.05, 0.1, and 0.15 mm/rev), and three different depths of cut ap (0.1, 0.15, and 0.2 mm). The effects of machining parameters in turning experiments were investigated on the response surface methodology (RSM) with Box–Behnken design (BBD) using the Design Expert 11; how the cutting parameters affect the surface quality is discussed in detail. In this context, the cutting parameters were successfully optimized using a genetic algorithm (GA). The optimized processing parameters are vc = 126 m/min, f = 0.11 mm/rev, ap = 0.14 mm, resulting in surface roughness and remnant depth ratio values of 0.489 μm and 64.13%, respectively. HIV-1 vaccines have been challenging to develop, partly due to the high level of genetic variation in its genome. Thus, a vaccine that can induce cross-reactive neutralization activities will be needed. Studies on the co-evolution of antibodies and viruses indicate that mimicking the natural infection is likely to induce broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs). We generated the consensus Env sequence for each time point in subject CH505, who developed broad neutralization activities, and selected five critical time points before broad neutralization was detected. These consensus sequences were designed to express stable Env trimers. Priming with the transmitted/founder Env timer and sequential boosting with these consensus Env trimers from different time points induced broader and more potent neutralizing activities than the BG505 Env trimer in guinea pigs. Analysis of the neutralization profiles showed that sequential immunization of Env trimers favored nAbs with gp120/gp41 interface specificity while the BG505 Env trimer favored nAbs with V2 specificity. The unique features such as consensus sequences, stable Env trimers and the sequential immunization to mimic natural infection likely has allowed the induction of improved neutralization responses. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a degenerative brain disease, and the condition is difficult to assess. In the past, numerous brain dynamics models have made remarkable contributions to neuroscience and the brain from the microcosmic to the macroscopic scale. Recently, large-scale brain dynamics models have been developed based on dual-driven multimodal neuroimaging data and neurodynamics theory. These models bridge the gap between anatomical structure and functional dynamics and have played an important role in assisting the understanding of the brain mechanism. Large-scale brain dynamics have been widely used to explain how macroscale neuroimaging biomarkers emerge from potential neuronal population level disturbances associated with AD. In this review, we describe this emerging approach to studying AD that utilizes a biophysically large-scale brain dynamics model. In particular, we focus on the application of the model to AD and discuss important directions for the future development and analysis of AD models. A continuous loading experiment of a two-dimensional granular system was carried out and the experimental data were obtained by digital image correlation (DIC). The deformation field of the granular system and the changing laws of the deflection angle and coordination number of the granules on force chains with time were obtained. Based on the granule element method, the quantitative calculation of contact force was realized, and the internal force chains of the granular system were identified. The effects of contact force between granules and mechanical parameters on the evolution of force chains in a two-dimensional granular system under line loads were analyzed. The formation, evolution, and reconstruction of force chains in a granular system during loading, as well as the influence of the force chain network evolution on the macroscopic mechanical properties of granules were discussed. The experimental results indicated that the evolution of force chains was directly related to the number, geometric properties, and permutation distribution of granules in direct contact with the external load. This study aims to explore the utilization of user-generated content for product improvement and decision-making processes. In the era of big data, the channels through which enterprises obtain user feedback information are transitioning from traditional methods to online platforms. The original data for this study were obtained from customer reviews of cordless hairdryers on JD.com. The specific process is as follows: First, we used the Python Requests package to crawl 20,157 initial comments. Subsequently, the initial data were cleaned, resulting in 1405 valid comments. Next, the cleaned and valid comments were segmented into Chinese words using the HanLP package. Finally, the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) method was applied for topic modeling. The visualization of the topic clustering was generated using pyLDAvis, and three optimal topics were identified. These topics were named "User Experience", "Product Evaluation", and "Product Features", respectively. Through data analysis and expert consultation, this study developed product design improvement strategies based on online reviews and verified the validity of the developed cordless hairdryer design index system through a questionnaire survey, providing practical references and innovative theoretical foundations for future product design assessments. d-pantolactone is an intermediate in the synthesis of d-pantothenic acid, which is known as vitamin B5. The commercial synthesis of d-pantolactone is carried out through the selective resolution of dl-pantolactone catalyzed by lactone hydrolase. In contrast to a kinetic resolution approach, the deracemization of dl-pantolactone is a simpler, greener, and more sustainable way to obtain d-pantolactone with high optical purity. Herein, an efficient three-enzyme cascade was developed for the deracemization of dl-pantolactone, using l-pantolactone dehydrogenase from Amycolatopsis methanolica (AmeLPLDH), conjugated polyketone reductase from Zygosaccharomyces parabailii (ZpaCPR), and glucose dehydrogenase from Bacillus subtilis (BsGDH). The AmeLPLDH was used to catalyze the dehydrogenated l-pantolactone into ketopantolactone; the ZpaCPR was used to further catalyze the ketopantolactone into d-pantolactone; and glucose dehydrogenase together with glucose fulfilled the function of coenzyme regeneration. All three enzymes were co-expressed in E. coli strain BL21(DE3), which served as the whole-cell biocatalyst. The influence of various seismic parameters on the seismic performance of rectangular reinforced recycled concrete columns was comprehensively revealed through collecting and screening experimental data from 53 rectangular recycled aggregate concrete columns. The research results showed that the bearing capacity of the specimens decreased and the ductility performance increased, which were attributed to the following factors. a. The increase in the replacement ratio and slenderness ratio of recycled coarse aggregate, and b. the reduction in the axial compression ratio and the strength of recycled aggregate concrete. In recent decades, the United States has experienced changing patterns of extreme temperature. Although much progress has been made, delineating the change in synoptic surface temperature variability (SSTV) and understanding its potential causes remain to be pursued. In this study, we seek to provide a quantitative description of the change in SSTV in the past seven decades across the US and its potential relevant physical factors. To achieve this goal, we develop a spatiotemporally local analysis method based on the ensemble empirical mode decomposition that bypasses the stationary assumption and makes it possible to continuously track the change in SSTV in the spatiotemporal domain. We have found that the change in SSTV across the US is spatially inhomogeneous and temporally non-uniform. The change in the SSTV amplitude ranges from −36% to 39% across the continental United States, Northern Mexico, and surrounding oceans. Higher altitudes and surrounding regions generally see an increase in variability, while elsewhere over land, a reduction is observed, creating a three-band zonal structure across the continental United States. Generally, increases in variability are observed in the subtropics. Toxicity, emissions and structural damage results on lithium-ion battery (LIB) thermal runaway triggered by the electrothermal method were performed in this work. The electrothermal triggering method was determined to study the thermal runaway behaviors of three types of commercial LIBs. The structural damage of the cathode material of the batteries after thermal runaway was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was found that as the state of charge (SOC) of the battery increases, the lower the temperature at which thermal runaway occurs, and the more badly the structural damage of the electrode material after thermal runaway. Qualitative analysis of products from LIBs thermal runaway emissions was conducted by GC-MS, and the toxicity and formation mechanism of the emissions were analyzed in detail. Dozens of toxic substances were detected from the emissions after thermal runaway of batteries using LixNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 and LiCoO2 as the cathode material, the types of toxic substances increase gradually with the increase in the SOC, while as for batteries using LiFePO4 as the cathode material, most types of toxic substances were detected from 30% SOC. A mathematical model is proposed to minimize the sum of vehicle fixed cost, fuel cost, carbon-emission cost, cooling cost, time-penalty cost and split-compensation cost, on the basis of considering the three-level cold-chain-logistics network of manufacturer, distribution center, and seller. The model is constructed based on the constraints of customer time window, vehicle load, demand-splitable, and semi-open driving of multiple distribution centers. The year-to-year varying annual evolutions of the stratospheric polar vortex (SPV) have an important downward impact on the weather and climate from winter to summer and thus potential implications for seasonal forecasts. This study constructs a parametric elliptic orbit model for capturing the annual evolutions of mass-weighted zonal momentum at 60° N (MU) and total air mass above the isentropic surface of 400 K (M) over the latitude band of 60–90° N from 1 July 1979 to 30 June 2021. The elliptic orbit model naturally connects two time series of a nonlinear oscillator. As a result, the observed coupling relationship between MU and M associated with SPV as well as its interannual variations can be well reconstructed by a limited number of parameters of the elliptic orbit model. The findings of this study may pave a new way for short-time climate forecasts of the annual evolutions of SPV, including its temporal evolutions over winter seasons as well as the spring and fall seasons, and timings of the sudden stratospheric warming events by constructing its elliptic orbit in advance. The transportation of highly viscous oil surrounded by water annulus has been recognized as a feasible option in terms of low-energy consumption and high efficiency. During the process of heavy oil delivery, the problem of pipe fittings is inevitably encountered, and the most common one is elbow assembly. In this present study, simulations for oil-water core annular flow (CAF) through a 90° elbow pipe were performed by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) based on VOF, standard k-ε, and CSF models. Simulation results were consistent with experimental data, which verifies the validity and practicability of the proposed model. The effects of inlet water fraction, superficial velocities of oil and water, oil properties (density and viscosity), and pipe geometry-related parameters (diameter ratio, wall roughness, and surface wettability) on the hydrodynamic performance and stability characteristics were explored. It is revealed that inlet water fraction, superficial velocities of oil and water, oil properties, and pipe geometric parameters do influence the volume fraction of oil and the stability of the water ring. Furthermore, the oil core may adhere to the downstream of the 90° elbow pipe under certain operational conditions. The flavor of fried green onion oil (Allium fistulosum L.) is widely applied and popular in Chinese cuisine. This work aimed to explore the effects of different varieties of vegetable oils on the flavor profile generation of fried green onion oil. The volatile flavor components of seven different kinds of fried green onion oils, i.e., soybean oil, palm oil, olive oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, camellia oil, and colza oil, were identified and analyzed by sensory analysis, gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and electronic nose. The results showed that sensory analysis and electronic nose were accepted to detect the odor diversities of different kinds of fried green onion oil sensitively. A total of 103 volatile flavor components were identified positively, and the key aromas included aldehydes and sulfur-containing compounds that correlated highly with green grass, oily, pungent and shallot scent attributes. Meanwhile, fatty acid compositions showed that there were no significant changes in the types of fatty acids before and after frying, but the relative content was not different. Accordingly, the unsaturated fatty acids (UFA, C18:1, C18:2, C18:3, and C20:1) had a significant influence on the flavor of frying oil, which was peculiarly prone to oxidation and heat degradation reactions. The Allium plant is widely used in cuisines around the world for its characteristic flavor. The general profile of the plant changes a lot and presents quite different smells after the frying process. In this work, five Allium plants and their fried oils were compared to find out how the frying process impacts the general flavor profile. The results of sensory analysis indicated that the frying process could substantially increase the flavor acceptability of fresh Allium plants. Meanwhile, according to gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis, fewer volatile compounds were detected in fresh Allium plants than in their fried oils. Furthermore, contents of nitrogen-containing compounds (ranging from 0.17 μg/g to 268.97 μg/g), aldehydes (ranging from 71.82 μg/g to 1164.84 μg/g), and lactones (ranging from 0 μg/g to 12.38 μg/g) increased significantly. In addition, more aroma-active substances were identified in the fried Allium oils revealed by gas chromatography-olfactometry (GC-O) analysis. Sulfur-containing compounds were the most abundant in fresh Allium plants, whereas nitrogen-containing compounds dominated in fried oils. The thermal degradation of sugars, amino acids and lipids as well as interactions between carbohydrates, proteins, and fats during the frying process were thought to be the main contributors to these variations. Therefore, this research provides a theoretical basis for the quality control of onion oil flavor and promotes the further development of the onion plant industry. Injection of corrosion inhibitors, one of the most effective corrosion protection methods, is employed to mitigate the wellbore corrosion. Nevertheless, its wider application suffers from insufficient knowledge regarding the distribution of corrosion inhibitors inside the tubing, particularly with different inhibitor injection cycles. Thus, in this study, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was first attempted to investigate the hydrodynamics in a tubing and the interactions between the corrosion inhibitor and produced fluid with high water-cut. Key factors including the time, wellbore heights, injection rates, oil phase velocities and corrosion inhibitor viscosities were discussed in detail as regards how they affect the corrosion inhibitor distribution inside the tubing. Feasible formulas were established for predicting the volume fraction of the corrosion inhibitor at different wellbore heights, which showed good agreement with the simulation results. It is noted that the determination of the corrosion inhibitor injection rate depends on both the film quality of the corrosion inhibitor and the stability of the annular flow. Based on the interphase diffusion effect, a new method for determining the intermittent injection cycle of corrosion inhibitor was proposed to maintain the integrity of corrosion inhibitor film at the tubing inner wall. The accumulation of oil mist in the thrust bearings poses a threat to the safety of the unit, leading to financial and environmental losses. To investigate the generation and influencing factors of oil mist in the oil tank of the thrust bearing in a pumped-storage power station, a novel numerical simulation method is proposed for calculating the oil–oil mist–air multi-phase flow based on the VOF model, RNG k − ε turbulence model, and Lee model. The proposed numerical method's reliability is verified using field operation data. The effects of rotational speed and pad temperature on the formation of oil mist inside the oil tank were examined from two perspectives of internal and external oil leaks. The research revealed two accumulation areas where oil mist is generated and accumulated: between the thrust head and the oil-retaining ring and near the oil slinger. The former causes external oil leaks due to pressure differences, while the latter causes internal oil leaks due to the rotor blast effect. An increase in temperature and rotational speed exacerbates the formation of oil mist. Furthermore, an increase in speed decreases the pressure change rate at the wall of the inner tank (external oil leaks) by 5.95% and at the oil slinger (internal leaks) by 44.64%. The measurement accuracy of Brillouin scattering spectra is crucial for ocean remote sensing by Brillouin scattering lidar. Due to the limited resolution of ICCD cameras, the traditional processing methods remain at the pixel or partial sub-pixel level, which cannot meet the requirements of high-performance lidar. In this paper, to extract the frequency shift with high precision from stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) lidar, a novel spectral processing method with sub-pixel recognition accuracy is proposed based on the Hessian matrix and Steger algorithm combined with the least square fitting method. Firstly, the Hessian matrix and Frangi filter are used for signal denoising. Then, the center points of SBS spectra at the sub-pixel level are extracted using the Steger algorithm and are connected and classified according to the signal type. On that basis, the frequency shifts of Brillouin scattering are calculated by using the center and radii of interference spectra after through fitting by the least squares method. Finally, the water temperatures are inverted by using the frequency shifts of Brillouin scattering. The results show that the processing method proposed in this paper can accurately calculate the frequency shift of Brillouin scattering. The measured errors of frequency shift are generally at an order of MHz, and the inversion accuracy of water temperature can be as low as 0.14 °C. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) homeostasis plays a vital role in cell physiological functions. Various factors can destroy the homeostasis of the ER and cause ER stress. Moreover, ER stress is often related to inflammation. Glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) is an ER chaperone, which plays a vital role in maintaining cellular homeostasis. Nevertheless, the potential effects of GRP78 on ER stress and inflammation is still not fully elucidated in fish. In the present study, ER stress and inflammation was induced by tunicamycin (TM) or palmitic acid (PA) in the macrophages of large yellow croakers. GRP78 was treated with an agonist/inhibitor before or after the TM/PA treatment. The results showed that the TM/PA treatment could significantly induce ER stress and an inflammatory response in the macrophages of large yellow croakers whereas the incubation of the GRP78 agonist could reduce TM/PA-induced ER stress and an inflammatory response. Moreover, the incubation of the GRP78 inhibitor could further induce TM/PA-induced ER stress and an inflammatory response. These results provide an innovative idea to explain the relationship between GRP78 and TM/PA-induced ER stress or inflammation in large yellow croakers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Due to their ability to offer more comprehensive information than data from a single view, multi-view (e.g., multi-source, multi-modal, multi-perspective) data are being used more frequently in remote sensing tasks. However, as the number of views grows, the issue of data quality is becoming more apparent, limiting the potential benefits of multi-view data. Although recent deep neural network (DNN)-based models can learn the weight of data adaptively, a lack of research on explicitly quantifying the data quality of each view when fusing them renders these models inexplicable, performing unsatisfactorily and inflexibly in downstream remote sensing tasks. To fill this gap, in this paper, evidential deep learning is introduced to the task of aerial-ground dual-view remote sensing scene classification to model the credibility of each view. Specifically, the theory of evidence is used to calculate an uncertainty value which describes the decision-making risk of each view. Based on this uncertainty, a novel decision-level fusion strategy is proposed to ensure that the view with lower risk obtains more weight, making the classification more credible. On two well-known, publicly available datasets of aerial-ground dual-view remote sensing images, the proposed approach achieves state-of-the-art results, demonstrating its effectiveness. Angiosperms are a group of plants with the highest rate of evolution, the largest number of species, the widest distribution and the strongest adaptability. Needless to say, angiosperms are the most important group for the humans. The studies on the origin, evolution and systematics of angiosperms have been the major challenges in plant sciences. However, the origin and early history of angiosperms remains poorly understood and controversial among paleobotanists. Some paleobotanists insist that there were no angiosperms in the pre-Cretaceous age. However, this conclusion is facing increasing challenges from fossil evidence, especially Early Jurassic Nanjinganthus, which is based on over two hundred specimens of fossil flowers. Studying more fossil plants is the only reliable way to elucidate the origin and early evolution of angiosperms. Here, we document a new species of angiosperms, Qingganninginfructus formosa gen. et sp. nov, and provide the first detailed three-dimensional morphology of Qingganninginfructus gen. nov from the Middle Jurassic of Northwest China. A Micro-CT examination shows that the best-preserved fossil infructescence has eleven samaroid fruits, each with a single basal ovule. Since these fossils are distinct in morphology and organization from all organs of known gymnosperms and angiosperms (the latter are defined by their enclosed ovules), we interpret Qingganninginfructus as a new genus of angiosperms including a new species, Q. formosa gen. et sp. nov., and an unspecified species from the Middle Jurassic of Northwest China. The discovery of this new genus of angiosperms from the Middle Jurassic, in addition to the existing records, undermines the "no angiosperms until the Cretaceous" stereotype and updates the perspective on the origin and early history of angiosperms.
