Asthma is a prevalent respiratory disease. The present study is designed to determine whether gut microbiota-derived tryptophan metabolites alleviate allergic asthma inflammation in ovalbumin (OVA)-induced mice and explore the effect and potential mechanism therein. Asthma model mice were constructed by OVA treatment, and kynurenine (KYN), indole-3-lactic acid (ILA), in-dole-3-carbaldehyde (I3C), and indole acetic acid (IAA) were administered by intraperitoneal injection. The percent survival, weight and asthma symptom score of mice were recorded. The total immunoglobulin E and OVA-specific (s)IgE in the serum and the inflammatory cytokines in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were detected by the corresponding ELISA kits. The composition of the gut microbiota and tryptophan-targeted metabolism in mouse feces were analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing and targeted metabolomics, respectively. The four tryptophan metabolites improved the percent survival, weight and asthma symptoms of mice, and reduced the inflammatory cells in lung tissues, especially I3C. I3C and IAA significantly (p < 0.05) downregulated the levels of OVA-IgE and inflammatory cytokines. KYN was observed to help restore gut microbiota diversity. Additionally, I3C, KYN, and ILA increased the relative abundance of Anaeroplasma, Akkermansia, and Ruminococcus_1, respectively, which were connected with tryptophan metabolic pathways. IAA also enhanced capability of tryptophan metabolism by the gut microbiota, restoring tryptophan metabolism and increasing production of other tryptophan metabolites. For decades, soft sensors have been extensively renowned for their efficiency in real-time tracking of expensive variables for advanced process control. However, despite the diverse efforts lavished on enhancing their models, the issue of label sparsity when modeling the soft sensors has always posed challenges across various processes. In this paper, a fledgling technique, called co-training, is studied for leveraging only a small ratio of labeled data, to hone and formulate a more advantageous framework in soft sensor modeling. Dissimilar to the conventional routine where only two players are employed, we investigate the efficient number of players in batch processes, making a multiple-player learning scheme to assuage the sparsity issue. Meanwhile, a sliding window spanning across both time and batch direction is used to aggregate the samples for prediction, and account for the unique 2D correlations among the general batch process data. Altogether, the forged framework can outperform the other prevalent methods, especially when the ratio of unlabeled data is climbing up, and two case studies are showcased to demonstrate its effectiveness. The development of antibiotics was a turning point in the history of medicine; however, their misuse and overuse have contributed to the current global epidemic of antibiotic resistance. According to epidemiological studies, early antibiotic exposure increases the risk of immunological and metabolic disorders. This study investigated the effects of exposure to different doses of sulfamethazine (SMZ) on offspring mice and compared the effects of exposure to SMZ on offspring mice in prenatal and early postnatal periods and continuous periods. Furthermore, the effects of SMZ exposure on the gut microbiota of offspring mice were analyzed using metagenome. According to the results, continuous exposure to high-dose SMZ caused weight gain in mice. IL-6, IL-17A, and IL-10 levels in the female offspring significantly increased after high-dose SMZ exposure. In addition, there was a significant gender difference in the impact of SMZ exposure on the gut microbiota of offspring: Continuous high-dose SMZ exposure significantly decreased the relative abundance of Ligilactobacillus murinus, Limosilactobacillus reuteri, Lactobacillus johnsonii, and Bifidobacterium pseudolongum (p < 0.05) in female offspring mice; however, these significant changes were not observed in male offspring mice. Clostridium butyricum is a butyrate-producing microorganism which has beneficial effects on various diseases, including obesity. In our previous study, the anti-obesity Clostridium butyricum strain CCFM1299 (C20_1_1) was selected, but its anti-obesity mechanism was not clarified. Herein, CCFM1299 was orally administrated to high-fat-diet-treated C57BL/6J mice for 12 weeks to uncover the way the strain alleviates obesity. The results indicated that CCFM1299 alleviated obesity through increasing the energy expenditure and increasing the expression of genes related to thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue (BAT). Moreover, strain CCFM1299 could also affect the expression of immune-related genes in epididymal white adipose tissue (eWAT). This immunomodulatory effect might be achieved through its influence on the complement system, as the expression of the complement factor D (CFD) gene decreased significantly. From the view of metabolites, CCFM1299 administration increased the levels of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) in feces and taurohyodeoxycholic acid (THDCA) in serum. Together, the anti-obesity potential of CCFM1299 might be attributed to the increase in energy consumption, the regulation of immune-related gene expression in eWAT, and the alteration of bile acid metabolism in the host. In the field of shield tunnels, the occurrence of uneven longitudinal settlement in segment linings has presented persistent challenges, including heightened risks of localized damage and water leakage. While the adoption of a secondary lining has been proposed as a viable solution to these issues, the question of how to select an appropriate construction time for the secondary lining, one that enables it to fully harness its load-bearing capacity while optimizing the tunnel's overall stress and deformation characteristics, continues to be a pressing concern. To address this issue, this study established a three-dimensional longitudinal refined numerical model of double-layer-lined shield tunnel. In addition, the deformation degree of the segment lining was used as a time indicator to define the construction time for the secondary lining. Subsequently, an analysis of the impact of the construction time of the secondary lining on the longitudinal mechanical properties of the double-layer-lined shield tunnel is conducted through an assessment of tunnel longitudinal deformation and structural stress. The research findings indicated that the construction of the secondary lining improved the longitudinal deformation resistance of shield tunnels. Simultaneously, it led to a significant increase in the longitudinal shear forces within the segment lining and a notable reduction in longitudinal bending moments. Moreover, the construction time of the secondary lining played a pivotal role in these alterations. Considering the longitudinal force situations and load-bearing characteristics of the double-layer lining structure, it was determined that the optimal construction time for the secondary lining fell within the range of 20% to 40% of the total construction duration. In this scenario, the deformation and internal forces within the segment lining remained within permissible limits. Additionally, both the segment lining and the secondary lining were able to fully utilize their load-bearing capacities, ensuring the economic and safety aspects of the tunnel. The occurrence of obesity and related metabolic disorders is rising, necessitating effective long-term weight management strategies. With growing interest in the potential role of gut microbes due to their association with responses to different weight loss diets, understanding the mechanisms underlying the interactions between diet, gut microbiota, and weight loss remains a challenge. This study aimed to investigate the potential impact of a multiphase dietary protocol, incorporating an improved ketogenic diet (MDP-i-KD), on weight loss and the gut microbiota. Using metagenomic sequencing, we comprehensively analyzed the taxonomic and functional composition of the gut microbiota in 13 participants before and after a 12-week MDP-i-KD intervention. The results revealed a significant reduction in BMI (9.2% weight loss) among obese participants following the MDP-i-KD intervention. Machine learning analysis identified seven key microbial species highly correlated with MDP-i-KD, with Parabacteroides distasonis exhibiting the highest response. Additionally, the co-occurrence network of the gut microbiota in post-weight-loss participants demonstrated a healthier state. Notably, metabolic pathways related to nucleotide biosynthesis, aromatic amino acid synthesis, and starch degradation were enriched in pre-intervention participants and positively correlated with BMI. Furthermore, species associated with obesity, such as Blautia obeum and Ruminococcus torques, played pivotal roles in regulating these metabolic activities. In conclusion, the MDP-i-KD intervention may assist in weight management by modulating the composition and metabolic functions of the gut microbiota. Antibiotic treatment can lead to a loss of diversity of gut microbiota and may adversely affect gut microbiota composition and host health. Previous studies have indicated that the recovery of gut microbes from antibiotic-induced disruption may be guided by specific microbial species. We expect to predict recovery or non-recovery using these crucial species or other indices after antibiotic treatment only when the gut microbiota changes. This study focused on this prediction problem using a novel ensemble learning framework to identify a set of common and reasonably predictive recovery-associated bacterial species (p-RABs), enabling us to predict the host microbiome recovery status under broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment. Our findings also propose other predictive indicators, suggesting that higher taxonomic and functional diversity may correlate with an increased likelihood of successful recovery. Furthermore, to explore the validity of p-RABs, we performed a metabolic support analysis and identified Akkermansia muciniphila and Bacteroides uniformis as potential key supporting species for reconstruction interventions. Experimental results from a C57BL/6J male mouse model demonstrated the effectiveness of p-RABs in facilitating intestinal microbial reconstitution. Adjacent tunnel excavation has an adverse impact on existing structures. Based on the engineering project of the Donghuashan Tunnel under-crossing an existing tunnel, this paper designed 25 sets of orthogonal numerical simulation tests to investigate the influential mechanisms of five parameters on ground displacement and deformation. The influential factors are skew angle ( α ), proximity distance (l), buried depth (h), clearance (D), and ratio of tunnel clearances ( ν ). The orthogonal test results revealed that (1) the new tunnel clearance is the main impact factor of both ground settlement and curvature deformation, (2) ground horizontal movement is most significantly influenced by the skew angle between the existing tunnel and the new tunnel, and (3) the new tunnel buried depth is the key influential parameter for ground tilt deformation as well as horizontal deformation. The conclusions of this research suggest that during the period of railway planning, it is very important to plan the buried depths and spans of new tunnels rationally to minimize disturbance to existing tunnels. Microbiota-derived desaminotyrosine (DAT) protects the host from influenza by modulating the type I interferon (IFN) response. The aim of this study was to investigate the antivirus effects of a DAT-producing bacteria strain. A comparative genomics analysis and UHPLC Q-Exactive MS were used to search for potential strains and confirm their ability to produce DAT, respectively. The anti-influenza functions of the DAT producer were evaluated using an antibiotic-treated mouse model by orally administering the specific strain before viral infection. The results showed the Lactiplantibacillus pentosus CCFM1227 contained the phy gene and produced DAT by degrading phloretin. In vivo, L. pentosus CCFM1227 re-inoculation increased the DAT level in feces, and protected from influenza through inhibiting viral replication and alleviating lung immunopathology. Furthermore, CCFM1227-derived DAT was positively correlated with the IFN-β level in the lung. The transcriptome results showed that CCFM1227 activated gene expression in the context of the defense response to the virus, and the response to interferon-beta. Moreover, CCFM1227 treatment upregulated the expression of MHC-I family genes, which regulate the adaptive immune response. In conclusion, L. pentosus CCFM1227 exerted antiviral effects by producing DAT in the gut, and this may provide a potential solution for creating effective antiviral probiotics. This study aimed to investigate the effects of a hypocaloric balanced diet (HBD) on anthropometric measures and gut microbiota of 43 people with obesity. Fecal samples were collected from the study subjects at weeks 0 and 12, and a detailed analysis of gut microbiota was performed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. By comparing anthropometric measures and microbiota changes in subjects before and after the HBD intervention, we revealed the potential effects of HBD on weight loss and gut microbiota. Our results indicated that the HBD resulted in a significant decrease in body mass index (BMI), and most of the physiological indicators were decreased to a greater degree in the effective HBD group (EHBD, weight loss ≥ 5%) than in the ineffective HBD group (IHBD, weight loss < 5%). The HBD intervention also modified the gut microbiota of the subjects with obesity. Specifically, Blautia, Lachnoclostridium, Terrisporobacter, Ruminococcus (R. torques, R. gnavus), and Pseudomonas were significantly reduced. In addition, we employed machine learning models, such as XGBRF and GB models, to rank the importance of various features and identified the top 10 key bacterial genera involved. Gut microbiota co-occurrence networks showed the dominance of healthier microbiota following successful weight loss. To solve the problems of poor stability and low monitoring precision in the online detection of rice moisture in the drying tower, we designed an online detection device for rice moisture at the outlet of the drying tower. The structure of a tri-plate capacitor was adopted, and the electrostatic field of the tri-plate capacitor was simulated using COMSOL software. A central composite design of three factors and five levels was carried out with the thickness, spacing, and area of the plates as the influencing factors and the capacitance-specific sensitivity as the test index. This device was composed of a dynamic acquisition device and a detection system. The dynamic sampling device was found to achieve dynamic continuous sampling and static intermittent measurements of rice using a ten-shaped leaf plate structure. The hardware circuit of the inspection system with STM32F407ZGT6 as the main control chip was designed to realize stable communication between the master and slave computers. Additionally, an optimized BP neural network prediction model based on the genetic algorithm was established using the MATLAB software. Indoor static and dynamic verification tests were also carried out. The results showed that the optimal plate structure parameter combination includes a plate thickness of 1 mm, plate spacing of 100 mm, and relative area of 18,000.069 mm2 while satisfying the mechanical design and practical application needs of the device. The structure of the BP neural network was 2-90-1, the length of individual code in the genetic algorithm was 361, and the prediction model was trained 765 times to obtain a minimum MSE value of 1.9683 × 10−5, which was lower than that of the unoptimized BP neural network with an MSE of 7.1215 × 10−4. The mean relative error of the device was 1.44% under the static test and 2.103% under the dynamic test, which met the accuracy requirements for the design of the device. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Accumulating evidence from recent studies links the gut microbiota to obesity, and microbiome therapy has been examined as a treatment. Clostridium butyricum (C. butyricum), an intestinal symbiont, protects the host from a range of diseases. Studies have shown a negative correlation between the relative abundance of C. butyricum and a predisposition for obesity. However, the physiological function and material basis of C. butyricum for obesity are unclear. Here, five C. butyricum isolates were administered to mice on a high-fat diet (HFD) to determine their anti-obesity effects. All isolates suppressed the formation and inflammation of subcutaneous fat, and the two effective strains considerably reduced weight gain and ameliorated dyslipidemia, hepatic steatosis, and inflammation. These positive effects were not achieved by increasing the concentration of intestinal butyrate, and the effective strains could not be replaced by sodium butyrate (NaB). We also discovered that oral supplementation with the two most effective strains changed the metabolism of tryptophan and purine and altered the composition of the gut microbiota. In summary, C. butyricum improved the metabolic phenotypes under the HFD by controlling the composition of the gut microbiota and modulating intestinal metabolites, thereby demonstrating its ability to fight obesity and providing a theoretical foundation for microbial preparations production. In natural settings, approximately 40–80% of bacteria exist as biofilms, most of which are mixed-species biofilms. Previous studies have typically focused on single- or dual-species biofilms. To expand the field of study on gut biofilms, we found a group of gut microbiota that can form biofilms well in vitro: Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis, Enterococcus faecalis, Bacteroides ovatus, and Lactobacillus gasseri. The increase in biomass and bio-volume of the mixed-species biofilm was confirmed via crystal violet staining, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and confocal laser scanning microscopy, revealing a strong synergistic relationship in these communities, with B. longum being the key biofilm-contributing species. This interaction may be related to changes in the cell number, biofilm-related genes, and metabolic activities. After quantifying the cell number using quantitative polymerase chain reaction, B. longum and L. gasseri were found to be the dominant flora in the mixed-species biofilm. In addition, this study analyzed biological properties of mixed-species biofilms, such as antibiotic resistance, cell metabolic activity, and concentration of water-insoluble polysaccharides. Compared with single-species biofilms, mixed-species biofilms had higher metabolic activity, more extracellular matrix, and greater antibiotic resistance. From these results, we can see that the formation of biofilms is a self-protection mechanism of gut microbiota, and the formation of mixed-species biofilms can greatly improve the survival rate of different strains. Finally, this study is a preliminary exploration of the biological characteristics of gut biofilms, and the molecular mechanisms underlying the formation of biofilms warrant further research. Evidence linking Faecalibacterium prausnitzii abundance to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is accumulating; however, the causal relationship remains obscure. In this study, 12 F. prausnitzii strains were orally administered to high fat diet fed C57BL/6J mice for 12 weeks to evaluate the protective effects of F. prausnitzii on NAFLD. We found that five F. prausnitzii strains, A2-165, LB8, ZF21, PL45, and LC49, significantly restored serum lipid profiles and ameliorated glucose intolerance, adipose tissue dysfunction, hepatic steatosis, inflammation, and oxidative stress in a mouse model of NAFLD. Moreover, two strains, LC49 and LB8, significantly enhanced short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production and modulated the gut microbiota. Based on the combined analysis of linear discriminant analysis effect size and microbial communities, the core microbiome related to NAFLD comprised Odoribacter, Roseburia, Erysipelatoclostridium, Tyzzerella, Faecalibaculum, Blautia, and Acetatifactor, and the last five genera can be reversed by treatment with the LC49 and LB8 strains. Additionally, the LC49 and LB8 strains enriched Lactobacillus, Ileibacterium, Faecalibacterium, Dubosiella, and Bifidobacterium and downregulated pathways involving carbohydrate metabolism, amino acid metabolism, and fatty acid biosynthesis. Interestingly, LC49 supplementation also upregulated tryptophan metabolism, glutathione metabolism, and valine, leucine, and isoleucine degradation, which might be related to NAFLD prevention. Collectively, F. prausnitzii LC49 and LB8 exerted considerable anti-NAFLD and microbiota-regulating effects, indicating their potential as probiotic agents for NAFLD treatment. Gut bacteria are closely associated with the development of atopic dermatitis (AD) due to their immunoregulatory function. Indole derivatives, produced by gut bacteria metabolizing tryptophan, are ligands to activate the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR), which plays a critical role in attenuating AD symptoms. Limosilactobacillus reuteri, a producer of indole derivatives, regulates mucosal immunity via activating the AHR signaling pathway. However, the effective substance and mechanism of L. reuteri in the amelioration of AD remain to be elucidated. In this research, we found that L. reuteri DYNDL22M62 significantly improved AD-like symptoms in mice by suppressing IgE levels and the expressions of thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), IL-4, and IL-5. L. reuteri DYNDL22M62 induced an increase in the production of indole lactic acid (ILA) and indole propionic acid (IPA) via targeted tryptophan metabolic analysis and the expression of AHR in mice. Furthermore, L. reuteri DYNDL22M62 increased the proportions of Romboutsia and Ruminococcaceae NK4A214 group, which were positively related to ILA, but decreased Dubosiella, which was negatively related to IPA. The damage of a long tunnel is found in parts with an adverse geological structure zone under an earthquake. The phenomenon is normally the consequence of a non-uniform seismic load. Thus, to reveal the mechanism of the phenomenon, the dynamic response of the lining structure in a long tunnel passing through an adverse geological structure zone subjected to a non-uniform seismic load is mainly studied in this paper. Firstly, based on the random ground motion synthesis theory, the non-uniform ground motion acceleration–time history curves that reflect local site effects, such as traveling wave effects and attenuation effects, are generated. Secondly, the behavior of the tunnel with a different adverse geological structure zone (including different inclinations, thicknesses, and lithologies) under non-uniform seismic input is studied. Then, the impact of the different adverse geological structure zone on the internal force and safety factor of the tunnel lining is analyzed. Finally, the failure characteristics of the lining structure in the tunnel crossing through the adverse geological structure zone subjected to a non-uniform seismic load are revealed. The results show that the seismic dynamic responses significantly increase under non-uniform seismic input compared with the results under uniform seismic input, and the dynamic responses distribution along the tunnel axial is distinctly different under non-uniform seismic input. The inclination and thickness of the adverse geological structure zone have a significant influence on the internal force and safety factor of the tunnel lining, while the lithology mainly acts around the adverse geological structure zone. When the inclination angle of the adverse geological structure zone is 45°, a large number of compression-bending cracks appear in the entrance and exit sections of the tunnel, and the tunnel is in the most dangerous state. It is difficult to accurately extract the health index of non-stationary signals of rolling bearings under variable rotational speed, which also leads to greater prediction error for bearing degradation models with fixed parameters. For this reason, an angular domain unscented particle filter model with time-varying degradation parameters is proposed to deal with the remaining useful life (RUL) prediction of rolling bearings. Order analysis is first performed to transform the variable-speed signal from time domain to angular domain for extracting the health index in the angular domain representation. To track the bearing degradation state, a real-time finite element model is established to guide the parameters updating the procedure of the performance degradation model. Finally, the bearing degradation state is estimated by the unscented particle filter (UPF), and then the remaining useful life of the bearing is predicted. In this way, the time-varying degradation model is developed by considering both non-stationary feature extraction and dynamic state tracking for rolling bearings. The proposed method is verified by both benchmarks: bearing experimental data, and a bearing accelerated life experiment. In the intelligent fault diagnosis of rotating machinery, it is difficult to extract early weak fault impact features of rotating machinery under the interference of strong background noise, which makes the accuracy of fault identification low. In order to effectively identify the early faults of rotating machinery, an intelligent fault diagnosis method of rotating machinery based on an optimized adaptive learning dictionary and one-dimensional convolution neural network (1DCNN) is proposed in this paper. First of all, based on the original signal, a redundant dictionary with impact components is constructed by K-singular value decomposition (K-SVD), and the sparse coefficients are solved by an optimized orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm. The sparse representation of fault impact features is realized, and the reconstructed signal with a concise fault impact feature structure is obtained. Secondly, the reconstructed signal is normalized, and the experimental dataset is divided into samples. Finally, the training set is input into the 1DCNN model for model training, and the test set is input into the trained model for classification and detection to complete the intelligent fault classification diagnosis of rotating machinery. This method is applied to the fault diagnosis of bearing data of Case Western Reserve University and worm gear reducer data of Shanghai University of Technology. Compared with other methods and models, the results show that the diagnosis method proposed in this paper can achieve higher diagnosis accuracy and better generalization ability than other diagnosis models under different datasets. A number of studies have confirmed the relationship between constipation and gut microbiota. Additionally, many human and animal experiments have identified probiotics as effectors for the relief of constipation symptoms. In this study, probiotic compounds, including Lactobacillus acidophilus LA11-Onlly, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus LR22, Limosilactobacillus reuteri LE16, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum LP-Onlly, and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BI516, were administered to mice with loperamide-induced constipation, and the impacts of these strains on constipation-related indicators and gut microbiota were evaluated. The effects of probiotic compounds on constipation relief were associated with various aspects, including gastrointestinal transit rate, number and weight of stools, serum and intestinal gastrointestinal regulatory hormones, and serum cytokines. Some of the probiotic compounds, including Limosilactobacillus reuteri, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, were found to colonize the intestinal tract. Furthermore, higher dosages promoted the colonization of specific strains. This study yields a new perspective for the clinical use of probiotics to improve constipation symptoms by combining strains with different mechanisms for the alleviation of constipation. (1) Background: Constipation is a common condition that affects the health and the quality of life of patients. Recent studies have suggested that the gut microbiome is associated with constipation, but these studies were mainly focused on a single research cohort. Thus, we aimed to construct a classification model based on fecal bacterial and identify the potential gut microbes' biomarkers. (2) Methods: We collected 3056 fecal amplicon sequence data from five research cohorts. The data were subjected to a series of analyses, including alpha- and beta-diversity analyses, phylogenetic profiling analyses, and systematic machine learning to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the association between constipation and the gut microbiome. (3) Results: The alpha diversity of the bacterial community composition was higher in patients with constipation. Beta diversity analysis evidenced significant partitions between the two groups on the base of gut microbiota composition. Further, machine learning based on feature selection was performed to evaluate the utility of the gut microbiome as the potential biomarker for constipation. The Gradient Boosted Regression Trees after chi2 feature selection was the best model, exhibiting a validation performance of 70.7%. (4) Conclusions: We constructed an accurate constipation discriminant model and identified 15 key genera, including Serratia, Dorea, and Aeromonas, as possible biomarkers for constipation. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are widely used as probiotics in the food industry owing to their beneficial effects on human health. However, numerous antibiotic resistance genes have been found in LAB strains, especially tetracycline resistance genes. Notably, the potential transferability of these genes poses safety risks. To comprehensively evaluate tetracycline resistance in LAB, we determined the tetracycline susceptibility patterns of 478 LAB strains belonging to four genera and eight species. By comparing phenotypes with genotypes based on genome-wide annotations, five tetracycline resistance genes, tet(M), tet(W/N/W), tet(L), tet(S), and tet(45), were detected in LAB. Multiple LAB strains without tetracycline resistance genes were found to be resistant to tetracycline at the currently recommended cutoff values. Thus, based on the minimum inhibitory concentrations of tetracycline for these LAB strains, the species-specific microbiological cutoff values for Lactobacillus (para)gasseri, Lactobacillus johnsonii, and Lactobacillus crispatus to tetracycline were first developed using the Turnidge, Kronvall, and eyeball methods. The cutoff values for Lactiplantibacillus plantarum were re-established and could be used to better distinguish susceptible strains from strains with acquired resistance. Finally, we verified that these five genes play a role in tetracycline resistance and found that tet(M) and tet(W/N/W) are the most widely distributed tetracycline resistance genes in LAB. The potential probiotic benefits of Bifidobacterium bifidum have received increasing attention recently. We used comparative genomic analysis to explore the differences in the genome and the physiological characteristics of B. bifidum isolated from the fecal samples of Chinese adults and infants. The relationships between genotypes and phenotypes were analyzed to assess the effects of isolation sources on the genetic variation of B. bifidum. The phylogenetic tree results indicated that the phylogeny of B. bifidum may be related to the geographical features of its isolation source. B. bifidum was found to have an open pan-genome and a conserved core genome. The genetic diversity of B. bifidum is mainly reflected in carbohydrate metabolism- and immune/competition-related factors, such as the glycoside hydrolase gene family, bacteriocin operons, antibiotic resistance genes, and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-Cas. Additionally, the type III A CRISPR-Cas system was discovered in B. bifidum for the first time. Bifidobacteria are among the first colonizers of the human gastrointestinal tract. Different bacterial species use different mechanisms for utilization of various carbon sources in order to establish themselves in the complex microbial ecosystem of the gut. However, these mechanisms still need to be explored. Here, a large gene–phenotype correlation analysis was carried out to explore the metabolic and genetic diversity of bifidobacterial carbohydrate utilization abilities. In this study, we used 21 different carbohydrates to determine the growth phenotypes, the distribution of glycoside hydrolases (GHs), and gene clusters related to the utilization of multiple carbon sources in six human-residential Bifidobacterium species. Five carbohydrates significantly stimulated growth of almost all strains, while the remaining sugars exhibited species- and strain-specificity. Correspondingly, different Bifidobacterium species also had specific GHs involved in fermentation of plant or host glycans. Moreover, we analyzed several carbohydrate utilization gene clusters, such as 2-fucosyllactose (2′FL), sialic acid (SA), and fructooligosaccharide (FOS). In summary, by using 217 bifidobacterial strains and a wide range of growth substrates, our research revealed inter- and intra-species differences in bifidobacterial in terms of carbohydrate utilization. For the purpose of investigating the effect of Zn replacement of In3Sn on the hydrogen production performance of Al-rich alloy ingots, Al-Ga-In3Sn alloys with various Zn dosages (0–5 wt.%) were prepared by a traditional melting and casting technique. The phase compositions and microstructures were characterized using X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) with an Energy Dispersed X-ray system (EDS). The SEM results indicate that, with a small amount of Zn instead of In3Sn, the number and total area of grain boundary (GB) phases will decrease gradually, and the average single GB area will eventually stabilize. The distribution of Zn in the alloy is similar to that of Ga, and an area with high Zn content appeared in the high-Zn-doped sample. The melting behaviors of Al with other metals were measured by DSC. The reaction of these alloys and water were investigated at different temperatures. Compared with Al-Ga-In3Sn alloy, low addition of Zn changed the composition of GB phase and increased the maximum hydrogen production rate. Ultrawideband (UWB) wireless communication is a promising spread-spectrum technology for accurate localization among devices characterized by a low transmission power, a high rate and immunity to multipath propagation. The accurately of the clock synchronization algorithm and the time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) localization algorithm provide precise position information of mobile nodes with centimeter-level accuracy for the UWB localization system. However, the reliability of target node localization for multi-area localization remains a subject of research. Especially for dynamic and harsh indoor environments, an effective scheme among competing target nodes for localization due to the scarcity of radio resources remains a challenge. In this paper, we present RMLNet, an approach focus on the medium access control (MAC) layer, which guarantees general localization application reliability on multi-area localization. Specifically, the design requires specific and optimized solutions for managing and coordinating multiple anchor nodes. In addition, an approach for target area determination is proposed, which can approximately determine the region of the target node by the received signal strength indication (RSSI), to support RMLNet. Furthermore, we implement the system to estimate the localization of the target node and evaluate its performance in practice. Experiments and simulations show that RMLNet can achieve localization application reliability multi-area localization with a better localization performance of competing target nodes. With recent adoption of Wireless Sensor-Actuator Networks (WSANs) in industrial automation, wireless control systems have emerged as a frontier of industrial networks. Hence, it has been shown that existing standards and researches concentrate on the reliability and real-time performance of WSANs. The multipath retransmission scheme with multiple channels is a key approach to guarantee the deterministic wireless communication. However, the efficiency of resource scheduling is seldom considered in applications with diverse data sampling rates. In this paper, we propose an efficient resources scheduling algorithm for multipath retransmission in WSANs. The objective of our algorithm is to improve efficiency and schedulability for the use of slot and channel resources. In detail, the proposed algorithm uses the approaches of CCA (clear channel assessment)-Embedded slot and Multiple sinks with Rate Monotonic scheme (CEM-RM) to decrease the number of collisions. We have simulated and implemented our algorithm in hardware and verified its performance in a real industrial environment. Stimuli-responsive polymeric systems containing special responsive moieties can undergo alteration of chemical structures and physical properties in response to external stimulus. We synthesized a hybrid amphiphilic block copolymer containing methoxy polyethylene glycol (MePEG), methacrylate isobutyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (MAPOSS) and 2-(diisopropylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DPA) named MePEG-b-P(MAPOSS-co-DPA) via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Spherical micelles with a core-shell structure were obtained by a self-assembly process based on MePEG-b-P(MAPOSS-co-DPA), which showed a pH-responsive property. In this study, N-doped diamond films were prepared through microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition with NH3/CH4/H2 gas mixtures. The effects of the ammonia addition to the process gas mixture on the morphology and structure of diamond films were systematically investigated through characterization by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). This work focuses on the ammonia addition to the process gas mixtures in the narrow range of N/C ratios from 0.4% to 1.0%. The results reveal that different N/C ratios can affect the morphology, the preferred crystal orientation, and the sp3/sp2 ratio in the films. When the N/C ratio of the process gas mixture ranges from 0.6% to 1.0%, the XRD and SEM results show that ammonia addition is beneficial for the growth of the (110) faceted grains. When the N/C ratio of the process gas mixture ranges from 0.8% to 1.0%, the XPS and Raman results indicate that the diamond films exhibit a considerable enhancement in the sp3 fraction.
