The Zeta converter is an essential and widely used high-order converter. The current modeling studies on Zeta converters are based on the model that devices, such as capacitors and inductors, are of integer order. For this reason, this paper takes the Zeta converter as the research object and conducts an in-depth study on its fractional-order modeling. However, the existing modeling and analysis methods have high computational complexity, the analytical solutions of system variables are tedious, and it is difficult to describe the ripple changes of state variables. This paper combines the principle of harmonic balance with the equivalent small parameter method (ESPM); the approximate analytic steady-state solution of the state variable can be obtained in only three iterative steps in the whole solving process. The DC components and ripples of the state variables obtained by the proposed method were compared with those obtained by the Oustaloup's filter-based approximation method; the symbolic period results obtained by ESPM had sufficient precision because they included more combinations of higher harmonics. Finally, the influence of fractional order on harmonics were analyzed. The obtained results show that the proposed method has the advantage of being less computational and easily describing changes in the ripple of the state variables. Based on the fact that the inductor and capacitor are of a non-integer order by nature, to provide a more accurate theoretical basis for the optimal control of the converter, the fractional-order model of the Buck-Boost converter in the continuous mode of current is established according to the fractional-order calculus theory. The fractional-order PIλ control system of the fractional-order Buck-Boost converter is designed to compare the performance of the integer-order PI controller with the fractional-order controller. Secondly, the sparrow search algorithm is applied to the optimal design of the fractional-order PIλ control system of the fractional-order Buck-Boost converter to improve the system's phase margin, stability, and robustness. The evolution of mesoscale eddies is crucial for understanding the ocean energy cascade. In this study, using global reanalysis sea surface velocity data and a mesoscale eddy trajectory product tracked by satellite altimeters, we aimed to reveal the coherence of eddy kinetic energy (EKE) variation to low-frequency ageostrophic energy during the eddy life span. The variation in EKE throughout the eddy life span was highly coherent to that of the seven-day low-passed ageostrophic kinetic energy, with a correlation coefficient of −0.94. The low-frequency ageostrophic motions supplied 38% of the EKE variation in the growing stage of mesoscale eddies and absorbed 42% in the decaying stage. The evolution rate of the EKE during the eddy life span was consistent with the barotropic conversion rate of the low-frequency ageostrophic motions, further confirming the dominant role of low-frequency ageostrophic motions in eddy growth and decay. DC–DC converters are widely used. They are a typical class of strongly nonlinear time-varying systems that show rich nonlinear phenomena under certain working conditions. Therefore, an in-depth study of their nonlinear phenomena, characteristics, and generation mechanism is of great practical significance for gaining a deep understanding of this kind of switching converter, revealing the essence of these nonlinear phenomena and then optimizing the design of this kind of converter. Based on the fact that most of the inductance and capacitance are fractional-order, the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the fractional-order (FO) DCM buck–boost converter are researched in this paper. The main research work and achievements of this paper include: (1) using the predictor–corrector method of fractional calculus, which is not limited by fractional order and can directly calculate the accurate values of the inductance current and capacitor voltage of the fractional converter; the predictor–corrector model of the FO converter is established. (2) The bifurcation diagrams are obtained based on this model, and the period-doubling bifurcation and chaotic behavior of the FO buck–boost converter are analyzed. (3) The phase diagrams are obtained and verified to the point that period-doubling bifurcation occurs; then, some conclusions are drawn. The results show that under certain operating and parameters conditions, the FO buck–boost converter will appear as a bifurcation and chaotic nonlinear phenomenon. Under the condition of the same circuit parameters, the stability parameter domains of the integer-order buck–boost converter and the FO buck–boost converter are different. Compared with the integer-order converter, the parameter stability region of the FO buck–boost converter is bigger. The FO buck–boost converter is more accurate at describing the nonlinear dynamic characteristics. Furthermore, the predictor–corrector method can also be applied to other FO power converters and provides theoretical guidance for converter parameter optimization and controller design. Cyclanilide (CYC), a plant growth regulator, is a potent shoot branching agent in apple. However, its mechanism remains unclear. The current study revealed that CYC treatment resulted in massive reprogramming of the axillary bud transcriptome, implicating several hormones in the response. We observed a marked increase (approximately 2-fold) in the level of zeatin riboside and a significant decrease (approximately 2-fold) in the level of abscisic acid (ABA). Zeatin metabolism gene cytokinin (CTK) oxidase 1 (CKX 1) was down-regulated at 168 h after CYC treatment compared with the control. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis of differentially expressed genes demonstrated the turquoise module clusters exhibited the highest positive correlation with zeatin riboside (r = 0.92) and the highest negative correlation with ABA (r = −0.8). A total of 37 genes were significantly enriched in the plant hormone signal transduction pathway in the turquoise module. Among them, the expressions of CTK receptor genes WOODEN LEG and the CTK type-A response regulators genes ARR3 and ARR9 were up-regulated. ABA signal response genes protein phosphatase 2C genes ABI2 and ABI5 were down-regulated in lateral buds after CYC treatment at 168 h. In addition, exogenous application of 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA, a synthetic type of CTK) and CYC enhanced the inducing effect of CYC, whereas exogenous application of lovastatin (a synthetic type of inhibitor of CTK biosynthesis) or ABA and CYC weakened the promoting effect of CYC. These results collectively revealed that the stimulation of bud growth by CYC might involve CTK biosynthesis and signalling, including genes CKX1 and ARR3/9, which provided a direction for further study of the branching promoting mechanism of CYC. Mitochondrial transcription termination factors (mTERFs) regulate the expression of mitochondrial genes and are closely related to the function of the mitochondrion and chloroplast. In this study, the mTERF gene family in capsicum (Capsicum annuum L.) was identified and characterized through genomic and bioinformatic analyses. Capsicum was found to possess at least 35 mTERF genes (CamTERFs), which were divided into eight major groups following phylogenetic analysis. Analysis of CamTERF promoters revealed the presence of many cis-elements related to the regulation of cellular respiration and photosynthesis. In addition, CamTERF promoters contained cis-elements related to phytohormone regulation and stress responses. Differentially expressed genes in different tissues and developmental phases were identified using RNA-seq data, which revealed that CamTERFs exhibit various expression and co-expression patterns. Gene ontology (GO) annotations associated CamTERFs primarily with mitochondrion and chloroplast function and composition. These results contribute towards understanding the role of mTERFs in capsicum growth, development, and stress responses. Soil fungal communities play crucial roles in mediating the functional associations between above- and belowground components during forest restoration. Forest restoration shapes the alterations in plant and soil environments, which exerts a crucial effect on soil fungal assemblages. However, the changes, assembly processes, and driving factors of soil fungi communities during tropical forest restoration are still uncertain. We used Illumina high-throughput sequencing to identify the changes of soil fungal communities across a tropical secondary forest succession chronosequence (i.e., 12-, 42-, and 53-yr stages) in Xishuangbanna. During forest restoration, the dominant taxa of soil fungi communities shifted from r- to K-strategists. The relative abundance of Ascomycota (r-strategists) decreased by 10.0% and that of Basidiomycota (K-strategists) increased by 4.9% at the 53-yr restoration stage compared with the 12-yr stage. From the 12-yr to 53-yr stage, the operational taxonomic unit (OTU), abundance-based coverage estimator (ACE), Chao1, and Shannon index of fungal communities declined by 14.5–57.4%. Although the stochastic processes were relatively important in determining fungal assemblages at the late stage, the fungal community assembly was dominated by deterministic processes rather than stochastic processes. The shifts in soil properties resulting from tropical forest restoration exerted significant effects on fungal composition and diversity. The positive effects of microbial biomass carbon, readily oxidizable carbon, and soil water content explained 11.5%, 9.6%, and 9.1% of the variations in fungal community composition, respectively. In contrast, microbial biomass carbon (40.0%), readily oxidizable carbon (14.0%), and total nitrogen (13.6%) negatively contributed to the variations in fungal community diversity. Our data suggested that the changes in fungal composition and diversity during tropical forest restoration were primarily mediated by the positive or negative impacts of soil carbon and nitrogen pools. Simple Summary: Muscle proliferation and differentiation is a complex process, which is mainly regulated by the myogenic regulatory factors (MRFs) gene family. As one of its family members, myogenic differentiation 1 (MyoD1) is an important regulator of myoblast differentiation and fibrogenesis, and its main function is to regulate the proliferation of myoblasts and the directed development of myogenic cell lines. In this study, CRISPR/CAS9 technology was used to construct the MyoD1 gene knockout MDBK cell lines, and then the transcriptome of MDBK cells was analyzed based on high-throughput sequencing technology. The differentially expressed genes in the transcriptome and the functional enrichment of differentially expressed genes were analyzed. The differentially expressed genes in the transcriptome and the functional enrichment were analyzed to provide experimental data for further studies on the mechanism of MyoD1 regulating CCND2 in myocyte differentiation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the transcriptome of MyoD1 gene knockout MDBK cells (bovine kidney cells) using high-throughput sequencing. For the first time, CRISPR/CAS9 technology was used to construct a MyoD1 knockout in MDBK cells and transcriptome sequence analysis was used to examine MyoD1-related target gene expression. Transcriptome sequencing indicated the presence of 723 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) by comparing wild type and MyoD1 knockout MDBK cells and included 178 upregulated and 72 downregulated genes. The DEGs are mainly enriched in Pl-3-kinase and AKT, p53 signaling pathways. Quantitative RT-PCR confirmed that PDE1B, ADAMTS1, DPT, and CCND2 were highly expressed in the leg muscle, longissimus dorsi, and shoulder of Guanling cattle, and CCND2 was inhibited after MyoD1 knockout, suggesting it may be a key downstream gene of MyoD1 and associated with muscle formation and differentiation in Guanling cattle. Strong typhoon winds enhance turbulent mixing, which induces sediment to resuspend and to promote chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) blooms in the continental shelf areas. In this study, we find limited Chl-a responses to three late autumn typhoons (typhoon Nesat, Mujigae and Khanun) in the northwestern South China Sea (NWSCS) using satellite observations. In climatology, the Chl-a and total suspended sediment (TSS) concentrations are high all year round with higher value in autumn in the offshore area of the NWSCS. After the typhoon passage, the Chl-a concentration increases slightly (23%), while even TSS enhances by 280% on the wide continental shelf of the NWSCS. However, in the southern area, located approximately 100 km from the typhoon tracks, both TSS and Chl-a concentrations increase 160% and 150% after typhoon passage, respectively. In the deeper area, the increased TSS concentration is responsible for the considerable increase of the Chl-a. An empirical analysis is applied to the data, which reveals the TSS and Chl-a processes during typhoon events. The results of this study suggest a different mechanism for Chl-a concentration increase and thus contribute toward further evaluation of typhoon-induced biological responses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Adventitious root (AR) formation is a bottleneck for the mass propagation of apple rootstocks, and water stress severely restricts it. Different hormones and sugar signaling pathways in apple clones determine AR formation under water stress, but these are not entirely understood. To identify them, GL-3 stem cuttings were cultured on polyethylene glycol (PEG) treatment. The AR formation was dramatically decreased compared with the PEG-free control (CK) cuttings by increasing the endogenous contents of abscisic acid (ABA), zeatin riboside (ZR), and methyl jasmonate (JA-me) and reducing the indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and gibberellic acid 3 (GA3) contents. We performed a transcriptomic analysis to identify the responses behind the phenotype. A total of 3204 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified between CK and PEG, with 1702 upregulated and 1502 downregulated genes. Investigation revealed that approximately 312 DEGs were strongly enriched in hormone signaling, sugar metabolism, root development, and cell cycle-related pathways. Thus, they were selected for their possible involvement in adventitious rooting. However, the higher accumulation of ABA, ZR, and JA-me contents and the upregulation of their related genes, as well as the downregulation of sugar metabolism-related genes, lead to the inhibition of ARs. These results indicate that AR formation is a complicated biological process chiefly influenced by multiple hormonal signaling pathways and sugar metabolism. The ocean color elements refer to total suspended sediment (TSS) and chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), which are important parameters for the marine ecological environment. This study aims to examine the behavior of ocean color elements in response to a tropical cyclone in the case of typhoon Mangkhut (2018), which passed over the northern South China Sea (NSCS) on 16 September 2018, using satellite multi-sensor observations, Argo float profiles, and tidal gauge sea level data. The results indicate that typhoon Mangkhut (2018) resulted in TSS and Chl-a concentrations increasing, with the spatial and timing behavior different in the offshore, shelf, and basin areas. In the offshore area from the coast to isobath 50 m, the mean TSS concentration, i.e., CTSS, reached 13.9 mg/L on 18 September 2018, two days after typhoon landfall, against about 3.5 mg/L before typhoon landfall. In the shelf area with depths from 50 m to 100 m, the mean CTSS reached 2.5 mg/L, against about 0.8 mg/L before typhoon landfall. In the basin area with depths of 100 m and beyond, the mean CTSS had only a little fluctuation. On the other hand, in the offshore area, the mean Chl-a concentration, i.e., CChl-a, was 7.3 mg/m3 on 21 September, five days after typhoon landfall, against 2.4 mg/m3 as the monthly mean value. Furthermore, TSS concentrations favorable for Chl-a bloom range from 6 to 7 mg/L in this area. In the shelf area, the mean CChl-a increased from 0.2 mg/m3 to 0.6 mg/m3 in two days. In the basin area, the CChl-a increased from 0.1 mg/m3 to 0.2 mg/m3 during typhoon passage. Concurrent dynamic condition analysis results indicate that, in the offshore area, typhoon-induced solitary continental waves may play a dominant role in determining the spatial distribution features of the TSS originating from the Pearl River runoff. The Chl-a bloom delayed rather than concurrently occurred with the terrigenous nutrient peak, which is attributed to the nonlinear relation between CChl-a and CTSS. In the shelf and basin areas, typhoon-enhanced vertical mixing and upwelling may play dominant roles in determining the spatiotemporal behavior of the TSS and the Chl-a. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
