The current treatment options for peripheral arterial disease (PAD) are limited due to a lack of significant high-level evidence to inform clinical decisions and unfavorable outcomes in terms of cost-effectiveness and amputation rates. In order to suggest the use of the commercially available L-Ornithine-L-Aspartate (LOLA) for treating PAD, we induced hind limb ischemia (HLI) by unilaterally ligating the femoral artery in a rat model. The rats were randomly divided into three groups, with seven rats assigned to each group: group 1 (control), group 2 (sorbitol), and group 3 (LOLA). Intraperitoneal injections were administered five times on post-operative days (PODs) 3, 5, 7, 10, and 12. Perfusion imaging was conducted on PODs 7 and 14 and compared to pre-operative perfusion imaging. Immunohistochemistry staining and Western blotting were performed after the final perfusion imaging. Group 3 showed a significant increase in perfusion, high CD31-positive capillary lumen density, and substantial overexpression of VEGF in the ischemic limb during the subacute phase of HLI. In conclusion, this study provides the first documented evidence of angiogenesis and perfusion recovery in the subacute phase of the HLI model following the administration of LOLA. With LOLA readily available on the commercial market, the implementation of LOLA treatment for PAD in humans can be expedited compared to other therapies still in the developmental stage. A total of 769 wheat kernels collected from six provinces in China were analyzed for beauvericin (BEA) and four enniatins (ENNs), namely, ENA, ENA1, ENB and ENB1, using a solid phase extraction (SPE) technique with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). The results show that the predominant toxin was BEA, which had a maximum of 387.67 μg/kg and an average of 37.69 μg/kg. With regard to ENNs, the prevalence and average concentrations of ENB and ENB1 were higher than those of ENA and ENA1. The geographical distribution of BEA and ENNs varied. Hubei and Shandong exhibited the highest and lowest positive rates of BEA and ENNs (13.46% and 87.5%, respectively). However, no significant difference was observed among these six provinces. There was a co-occurrence of BEA and ENNs, and 42.26% of samples were simultaneously detected with two or more toxins. Moreover, a significant linear correlation in concentrations was observed between the four ENN analogs (r range: 0.75~0.96, p < 0.05). Sarcopenia refers to an age-related decrease in muscle mass and strength. The gut–muscle axis has been proposed as a promising target to alleviate muscle atrophy. The effect of KL-Biome—a postbiotic preparation comprising heat-killed Lactiplantibacillus plantarum KM-2, its metabolites, and an excipient (soybean powder)—on muscle atrophy was evaluated using dexamethasone (DEX)-induced atrophic C2C12 myoblasts and C57BL/6J mice. KL-Biome significantly downregulated the expression of genes (Atrogin-1 and MuRF1) associated with skeletal muscle degradation but increased the anabolic phosphorylation of FoxO3a, Akt, and mTOR in C2C12 cells. Oral administration of KL-Biome (900 mg/kg) for 8 weeks significantly improved muscle mass, muscle function, and serum lactate dehydrogenase levels in DEX-treated mice. KL-Biome administration increased gut microbiome diversity and reversed DEX-mediated gut microbiota alterations. Furthermore, it significantly increased the relative abundances of the genera Subdologranulum, Alistipes, and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, which are substantially involved in short-chain fatty acid production. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative joint disease that causes chronic pain, swelling, stiffness, disability, and significantly reduces the quality of life. Typically, OA is treated using painkillers and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). While current pharmacologic treatments are common, their potential side effects have prompted exploration into functional dietary supplements. Recently, eggshell membrane (ESM) has emerged as a potential functional ingredient for joint and connective tissue disorders due to its clinical efficacy in relieving joint pain and stiffness. Despite promising clinical evidence, the effects of ESM on OA progression and its mechanism of action remain poorly understood. This study evaluated the efficacy of Ovomet®, a powdered natural ESM, against joint pain and disease progression in a monosodium iodoacetate (MIA)-induced rodent model of OA in mice and rats. The results demonstrate that ESM significantly alleviates joint pain and attenuates articular cartilage destruction in both mice and rats that received oral supplementation for 5 days prior to OA induction and for 28 days thereafter. Interestingly, ESM significantly inhibited mRNA expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6), as well as inflammatory mediators, cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and inducible nitric oxide synthase in the knee joint cartilage at the early stage of OA, within 7 days after OA induction. However, this effect was not observed in the late stage at 28 days after OA induction. ESM further attenuates the induction of protein expression for cartilage-degrading enzymes like matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs) 3 and 13, and a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 5 (ADAMTS-5), in the late-stage. In addition, MIA-induced reduction of the protein expression levels of cartilage components, cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP), aggrecan (ACAN) and collagen type II α-1 chain (COL2α1), and cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis promoting transcriptional factor SRY-Box 9 (SOX-9) were increased via ESM treatment in the cartilage tissue. Our findings suggest that Ovomet®, a natural ESM powder, is a promising dietary functional ingredient that can alleviate pain, inflammatory response, and cartilage degradation associated with the progression of OA. Achieving precise individual localization within densely crowded scenes poses a significant challenge due to the intricate interplay of occlusions and varying density patterns. Traditional methods for crowd localization often rely on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to generate density maps. However, these approaches are prone to inaccuracies stemming from the extensive overlaps inherent in dense populations. To overcome this challenge, our study introduces the Hierarchical Inverse Distance Transformer (HIDT), a novel framework that harnesses the multi-scale global receptive fields of Pyramid Vision Transformers. By adapting to the multi-scale characteristics of crowds, HIDT significantly enhances the accuracy of individual localization. Incorporating Focal Inverse Distance techniques, HIDT adeptly addresses issues related to scale variation and dense overlaps, prioritizing local small-scale features within the broader contextual understanding of the scene. Rigorous evaluation on standardized benchmarks has unequivocally validated the superiority of our approach. HIDT exhibits outstanding performance across various datasets. Notably, on the JHU-Crowd++ dataset, our method demonstrates significant improvements over the baseline, with MAE and MSE metrics decreasing from 66.6 and 253.6 to 59.1 and 243.5, respectively. Hyperinflammation occurs in sepsis, especially in the early phase, and it could have both positive and negative effects on sepsis. Previously, we showed that a new concept of NF-κB inhibitor, exosome-based super-repressor IκBα (Exo-srIκB) delivery, has a beneficial effect on sepsis. Here, we further investigate the therapeutic effects of Exo-srIκB at different severities and phases of sepsis using an animal polymicrobial intra-abdominal infection model. We used a rat model of fecal slurry polymicrobial sepsis. First, we determined the survival effects of Exo-srIκB on sepsis according to the severity. We used two different severities of the animal sepsis model. The severe model had a mortality rate of over 50%. The mild/moderate model had a less than 30% mortality rate. Second, we administered the Exo-srIκB at various time points (1 h, 6 h, and 24 h after fecal slurry administration) to determine the therapeutic effect of Exo-srIκB at different phases of sepsis. Lastly, we determined the effects of the Exo-srIκB on cytokine production, arterial blood gas, electrolyte, and lactate. The survival gain was statistically significant in the severe sepsis model when Exo-srIκB was administered 6 h after sepsis. Interleukin 6 and interleukin-10 were significantly decreased in the kidney when administered with Exo-srIκB. The laboratory data showed that lactate, glucose, and potassium levels were significantly lowered in the NF-κB inhibitor group. To prevent pesticides from exceeding maximum residue limits (MRLs) in crops during export and shipment, it is necessary to manage residue levels during the pre-harvest stages. Therefore, the Republic of Korea establishes pre-harvest residue limits (PHRLs) per crop and pesticide. This study was conducted to set PHRLs for penthiopyrad and tebufenpyrad in angelica leaves, where the exceedance rates of MRLs are expected to be high. The LOQ of the analytical method used was 0.01 mg/kg and it demonstrated good linearity, with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 or higher within the quantitation range of 0.005 to 0.5 mg/kg. The recovery and storage stability accuracy values were in the range of 94.5–111.1%, within the acceptable range (70–120%, RSD ≤ 20%). The matrix effect for both pesticides was in the medium-to-strong range, and it did not significantly impact the quantitative results as a matrix-matched calibration method was employed. Using the validated method, residue concentrations of penthiopyrad 20 (%) EC and tebufenpyrad 10 (%) EC were analyzed. Both pesticides exhibited a decreasing residue trend over time. In Fields 1–3 and their integrated results, the biological half-life was within 2.6–4.0 days for penthiopyrad and 3.0–4.2 days for tebufenpyrad. The minimum value of the regression coefficient in the dissipation curve regression equation was selected as the dissipation constant. The selected dissipation constants for penthiopyrad in Fields 1–3 and their integration were 0.1221, 0.2081, 0.2162, and 0.1960. For tebufenpyrad, the dissipation constants were 0.1451, 0.0960, 0.1725, and 0.1600, respectively. The dissipation constant was used to calculate PHRL per field. Following the principles of the PHRL proposal process, residue levels (%) on PHI dates relative to MRLs were calculated, and fields for proposing PHRLs were selected. For penthiopyrad, since the residue level (%) was less than 20%, the PHRL for Field 3 with the largest dissipation constant was proposed. For tebufenpyrad, as the residue level (%) exceeded 80%, the PHRL proposal could not established. Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) holds significant commercial value as one of the leading oil crops, with its agronomic features and oil quality being crucial determinants. In this investigation, 73,226 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) across 95 rapeseed mutant lines induced by gamma rays, alongside the original cultivar ('Tamra'), using genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) analysis were examined. This study encompassed gene ontology (GO) analysis and a genomewide association study (GWAS), thereby concentrating on agronomic traits (e.g., plant height, ear length, thousand-seed weight, and seed yield) and oil traits (including fatty acid composition and crude fat content). The GO analysis unveiled a multitude of genes with SNP variations associated with cellular processes, intracellular anatomical structures, and organic cyclic compound binding. Through GWAS, we detected 320 significant SNPs linked to both agronomic (104 SNPs) and oil traits (216 SNPs). Notably, two novel candidate genes, Bna.A05p02350D (SFGH) and Bna.C02p22490D (MDN1), are implicated in thousand-seed weight regulation. Additionally, Bna.C03p14350D (EXO70) and Bna.A09p05630D (PI4Kα1) emerged as novel candidate genes associated with erucic acid and crude fat content, respectively. These findings carry implications for identifying superior genotypes for the development of new cultivars. Association studies offer a cost-effective means of screening mutants and selecting elite rapeseed breeding lines, thereby enhancing the commercial viability of this pivotal oil crop. A key element for the cost-effective development of cultured meat is a cell line culturable in serum-free conditions to reduce production costs. Heme supplementation in cultured meat mimics the original meat flavor and color. This study introduced a bacterial extract generated from Corynebacterium that was selected for high-heme expression by directed evolution. A normal porcine cell line, PK15, was used to apply the bacterial heme extract as a supplement. Consistent with prior research, we observed the cytotoxicity of PK15 to the heme extract at 10 mM or higher. However, after long-term exposure, PK15 adapted to tolerate up to 40 mM of heme. An RNA-seq analysis of these heme-adapted PK15 cells (PK15H) revealed a set of altered genes, mainly involved in cell proliferation, metabolism, and inflammation. We found that cytochrome P450, family 1, subfamily A, polypeptide 1 (CYP1A1), lactoperoxidase (LPO), and glutathione peroxidase 5 (GPX5) were upregulated in the PK15H heme dose dependently. When we reduced serum serially from 2% to serum free, we derived the PK15H subpopulation that was transiently maintained with 5–10 mM heme extract. Altogether, our study reports a porcine cell culturable in high-heme media that can be maintained in serum-free conditions and proposes a marker gene that plays a critical role in this adaptation process. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory condition caused by the disruption of the intestinal barrier. The intestinal barrier is maintained by tight junctions (TJs), which sustain intestinal homeostasis and prevent pathogens from entering the microbiome and mucosal tissues. Ziziphus jujuba Miller (Z. jujuba) is a natural substance that has been used in traditional medicine as a therapy for a variety of diseases. However, in IBD, the efficacy of Z. jujuba is unknown. Therefore, we evaluated ZJB in Caco2 cells and a dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced mouse model to demonstrate its efficacy in IBD. Z. jujuba extracts were prepared using 70% ethanol and were named ZJB. ZJB was found to be non-cytotoxic and to have excellent antioxidant effects. We confirmed its anti-inflammatory properties via the down-regulation of inflammatory factors, including inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). To evaluate the effects of ZJB on intestinal barrier function and TJ improvement, the trans-epithelial electrical resistance (TEER) and fluorescein isothiocyanate-dextran 4 kDa (FITC-Dextran 4) permeability were assessed. The TEER value increased by 61.389% and permeability decreased by 27.348% in the 200 μg/mL ZJB group compared with the 50 ng/mL IL-6 group after 24 h. Additionally, ZJB alleviated body weight loss, reduced the disease activity index (DAI) score, and induced colon shortening in 5% DSS-induced mice; inflammatory cytokines, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and interleukin (IL)-6 were down-regulated in the serum. TJ proteins, such as Zonula occludens (ZO)-1 and occludin, were up-regulated by ZJB in an impaired Caco2 mouse model. Additionally, according to the liquid chromatography results, in tandem with mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis, seven active ingredients were detected in ZJB. In conclusion, ZJB down-regulated inflammatory factors, protected intestinal barrier function, and increased TJ proteins. In this study, we investigated the hepatoprotective effects of an ethanol extract of Sophora flavescens Aiton (ESF) on an alcohol-induced liver disease mouse model. Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) was caused by the administration of ethanol to male C57/BL6 mice who were given a Lieber−DeCarli liquid diet, including ethanol. The alcoholic fatty liver disease mice were orally administered ESF (100 and 200 mg/kg bw/day) or silymarin (50 mg/kg bw/day), which served as a positive control every day for 16 days. The findings suggest that ESF enhances hepatoprotective benefits by significantly decreasing serum levels of aspartate transaminase (AST) and alanine transaminase (ALT), markers for liver injury. Furthermore, ESF alleviated the accumulation of triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC), increased serum levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione (GSH), and improved serum alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) activity in the alcoholic fatty liver disease mice model. Cells and organisms rely on the Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1- Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Keap1-Nrf2) system as a critical defensive mechanism in response to oxidative stress. Therefore, Nrf2 plays an important role in ALD antioxidant responses, and its level is decreased by increased reactive oxidation stress (ROS) in the liver. ESF increased Nrf2, which was decreased in ethanol-damaged livers. Additionally, four polyphenol compounds were identified through a qualitative analysis of the ESF using LC-MS/MS. Simple Summary: In the field of veterinary science and animal husbandry, a sow that has given birth more than once is considered "multiparous". Sows are classified as nulliparous from the moment they arrive at the farm until their first farrowing. During this time, they are frequently referred to as "primiparous". Growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) plasmid administration had significant effects on serum insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels, birth outcomes, and weaning parameters across different sow categories, indicating its potential for enhancing reproductive performance and postnatal outcomes in sows. Specifically, it affected live births, survival rates, and weaning success without notable effects on birth weight. The effect of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) plasmid treatment on sow reproductive performance was examined. Forty pregnant sows (three-way crossbreed: Landrace × Yorkshire × Duroc) at 85 days of gestation were included in the study and consisted of twenty primiparous and twenty multiparous sows (third parity). Sows were randomly assigned to the control and treatment groups. The treatment group received 5 mg dose of GHRH plasmid injection via electroporation, whereas the control group received a phosphate buffer solution. Reproductive indicators, including serum insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) concentration and weaned piglet data, were assessed. In the GHRH plasmid-treated group, serum IGF-1 concentration significantly increased compared with that in the control group, a trend observed in primiparous and multiparous sows. The key indicator of reproductive performance, litter size, showed that for control primiparous sows (C-PS), it was 10.90 ± 0.99 kg, while for control multiparous sows (C-MS), it was 14.00 ± 0.67 kg. Furthermore, for primiparous sows treated with GHRH plasmid (G-PS), the litter size was 11.60 ± 0.97 kg, and for multiparous sows treated with GHRH plasmid (G-MS), it was 14.00 ± 0.82 kg. The GHRH plasmid-treated group also exhibited a higher number of total births and surviving piglet numbers, along with a decrease in stillborn piglets; however, there was no significant difference in birth weight. Smart self-healing coatings offer a revolutionary approach to mitigating metal corrosion, a problem with significant economic and environmental impacts. Divided into intrinsic and extrinsic types, these coatings autonomously rectify the damage. Intrinsic variants utilize reversible bonds to achieve ongoing repair, while extrinsic ones incorporate micro/nanocontainers that activate upon environmental triggers to mend micro-cracks, their efficacy dictated by the encapsulated healing agents' volume. This review dissects the rapidly evolving sector of stimuli-responsive self-healing coatings, emphasizing the progress in micro/nano container technology. It discusses the synthesis and encapsulation processes of different micro/nanocontainers and charts the transition from single to multistimulus-responsive systems, which enhances the coatings' sensitivity and functionality. The addition of multifunctional traits such as self-reporting and anti-microbial actions further broadens their industrial applicability. Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.), in the Malvaceae family, is an important crop for not only fiber production, but also various other industrial materials. We performed phylogenetic analysis and a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of seven agronomic traits: days to flowering, plant height, fresh weight, dry weight, flower color, stem color, and leaf shape, using 96 kenaf genotypes, including gamma-irradiation-derived mutant lines. Genotypes were determined by genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) and a total of 49,241 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were used in the analysis. Days to flowering, plant height, fresh weight, and dry weight were positively correlated with each other, and stem color was also correlated with fresh weight and dry weight. The phylogenetic analysis divided the 96 lines into nine related groups within two independent groups, and the GWAS analysis detected a total of 49 SNPs for days to flowering, plant height, fresh weight, dry weight, flower color, stem color, and leaf shape with −log10(P) ≥ 4, of which 22 were located in genic regions. The detected SNPs were located in genes with homology ranging from 45% to 96% to plants of the Malvaceae and Betulaceae, and these genes were found to be involved in plant growth and development via various pathways. Paclitaxel is still used as a standard first-line treatment for ovarian cancer. Although paclitaxel is effective for many types of cancer, the emergence of chemoresistant cells represents a major challenge in chemotherapy. Our study aimed to analyze the cellular mechanism of dacomitinib, a pan-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor, which resensitized paclitaxel and induced cell cytotoxicity in paclitaxel-resistant ovarian cancer SKOV3-TR cells. We investigated the significant reduction in cell viability cotreated with dacomitinib and paclitaxel by WST-1 assay and flow cytometry analysis. Dacomitinib inhibited EGFR family proteins, including EGFR and HER2, as well as its downstream signaling proteins, including AKT, STAT3, ERK, and p38. In addition, dacomitinib inhibited the phosphorylation of Bad, and combination treatment with paclitaxel effectively suppressed the expression of Mcl-1. A 2′-7′-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA) assay revealed a substantial elevation in cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in SKOV3-TR cells cotreated with dacomitinib and paclitaxel, which subsequently mediated cell cytotoxicity. Additionally, we confirmed that dacomitinib inhibits chemoresistance in paclitaxel-resistant ovarian cancer HeyA8-MDR cells. Collectively, our research indicated that dacomitinib effectively resensitized paclitaxel in SKOV3-TR cells by inhibiting EGFR signaling and elevating intracellular ROS levels. The escalating global incidence of obesity and chronic diet-related disorders, such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, malignancies, and celiac disease, has intensified the focus on dietary factors and disease risks. Rice, a dietary staple for billions, is under scrutiny, particularly polished or white rice, which is high in starch and in the glycemic index and low in nutrition due to the removal of the outer bran layer during milling. This study critically analyzes the comparison between whole brown rice (BR) and milled white rice in terms of health benefits. A significant finding is the enhancement of food nutrition through fermentation, which improves protein digestibility and mineral availability and releases peptides and amino acids. The study also highlights the increased antibacterial and antioxidant activity of foods, including health benefits, through fermentation. A comprehensive review of existing data on the nutritional content and health advantages of whole fermented BR grains is presented, alongside experiments in developing fermented BR-based foods. The safety, preservation, and the economic and environmental advantages of consuming regularly fermented BR instead of white or unfermented BR are discussed. The cloud phase is one of the most important parameters of clouds. In this paper, we propose a method for cloud phase classification that synergistically utilizes the far- and thermal-infrared bands based on the Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer (AERI) at the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement West Antarctic Radiation Experiment (AWARE) observatory in 2016. The possible features in the far- and thermal-infrared bands are analyzed based on the differences in the simulated cloud brightness temperature (BT) spectra with different cloud phases. Using the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm, four features are determined to identify the cloud phase, which include the BT at 900 cm−1, the slope of the fitted function of BT in the 900–1000 cm−1 interval, the BT difference (BTD) between 512 cm−1 and 726 cm−1, and the BTD between 550 cm−1 and 726 cm−1. Here, the performance of the proposed method is evaluated with Shupe's and Turner's method. The monthly average accuracy of the proposed method, the method without the two far-infrared features, and Turner's method are about 76%, 36%, and 49%, respectively, which infer the good performance of the proposed method and also indicate that the far-infrared band features can effectively enhance cloud phase classification. It is notable that, compared to Shupe's method, the accuracy for the proposed method is only 61% during the Antarctic summer, which results from the definitions of cloud phase and radiative effect. Three-dimensional (3D) packaging using through-Si-via (TSV) is a key technique for achieving high-density integration, high-speed connectivity, and for downsizing of electronic devices. This paper describes recent developments in TSV fabrication and bonding methods in advanced 3D electronic packaging. In particular, the authors have overviewed the recent progress in the fabrication of TSV, various etching and functional layers, and conductive filling of TSVs, as well as bonding materials such as low-temperature nano-modified solders, transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding, Cu pillars, composite hybrids, and bump-free bonding, as well as the role of emerging high entropy alloy (HEA) solders in 3D microelectronic packaging. Matrix certified reference materials (CRMs) play a critical role in analytical method validation and the assurance of reliable measurement results. A certified reference material (GBW(E)100813) for whole-wheat flour was developed to ensure an accurate and reliable measurement of the main Fusarium mycotoxins (deoxynivalenol (DON), nivalenol (NIV), deoxynivalenol-3-glucoside (DON-3G), and zearalenone (ZEN)). CRM candidates were prepared using sun-drying, grinding, sieving, homogenising, packaging, and gamma irradiation. The final produced CRM was packaged at 50 g per unit and stored at 20 °C. Certification was performed using isotope dilution-liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry. CRM characterization was performed in eight laboratories in accordance with the requirements of ISO Guide 35. The certified values and expanded uncertainties (at a confidence of 95%, k = 2) for DON, NIV, DON-3G, and ZEN were determined to be 0.98 ± 0.12 mg/kg, 1.37 ± 0.20 mg/kg, 242 ± 35 μg/g, and 382 ± 50 μg/g. The CRM was sufficiently homogeneous between and within bottles, and remained stable for up to 12 months at 20 °C and 9 days below 40 °C for transportation. Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death among gynecologic cancers. Paclitaxel is used as a standard first-line therapeutic agent for ovarian cancer. However, chemotherapeutic resistance and high recurrence rates are major obstacles to treating ovarian cancer. We have found that tephrosin, a natural rotenoid isoflavonoid, can resensitize paclitaxel-resistant ovarian cancer cells to paclitaxel. Cell viability, immunoblotting, and a flow cytometric analysis showed that a combination treatment made up of paclitaxel and tephrosin induced apoptotic death. Tephrosin inhibited the phosphorylation of AKT, STAT3, ERK, and p38 MAPK, all of which simultaneously play important roles in survival signaling pathways. Notably, tephrosin downregulated the phosphorylation of FGFR1 and its specific adapter protein FRS2, but it had no effect on the phosphorylation of the EGFR. Immunoblotting and a fluo-3 acetoxymethyl assay showed that tephrosin did not affect the expression or function of P-glycoprotein. Additionally, treatment with N-acetylcysteine did not restore cell cytotoxicity caused by a treatment combination made up of paclitaxel and tephrosin, showing that tephrosin did not affect the reactive oxygen species scavenging pathway. Interestingly, tephrosin reduced the expression of the anti-apoptotic factor XIAP. This study demonstrates that tephrosin is a potent antitumor agent that can be used in the treatment of paclitaxel-resistant ovarian cancer via the inhibition of the FGFR1 signaling pathway. The ankyrin repeat-rich membrane spanning (ARMS), a transmembrane neuronal scaffold protein, plays a fundamental role in neuronal physiology, including neuronal development, polarity, differentiation, survival and angiogenesis, through interactions with diverse partners. Previous studies have shown that the ARMS negatively regulates brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) secretion by interacting with Synaptotagmin-4 (Syt4), thereby affecting neurogenesis and the development and function of the nervous system. However, the molecular mechanisms of the ARMS/Syt4 complex assembly remain unclear. Here, we confirmed that the ARMS directly interacts with Syt4 through its N-terminal ankyrin repeats 1–8. Unexpectedly, both the C2A and C2B domains of Syt4 are necessary for binding with the ARMS. We then combined the predicted complex structural models from AlphaFold2 with systematic biochemical analyses using point mutagenesis to underline the molecular basis of ARMS/Syt4 complex formation and to identify two conserved residues, E15 and W72, of the ARMS, as essential residues mediating the assembly of the complex. Furthermore, we showed that ARMS proteins are unable to interact with Syt1 or Syt3, indicating that the interaction between ARMS and Syt4 is specific. Taken together, the findings from this study provide biochemical details on the interaction between the ARMS and Syt4, thereby offering a biochemical basis for the further understanding of the potential mechanisms and functional implications of the ARMS/Syt4 complex formation, especially with regard to the modulation of BDNF secretion and associated neuropathies. Astrocytes and microglia, the most abundant glial cells in the central nervous system, are involved in maintaining homeostasis in the brain microenvironment and in the progression of various neurological disorders. Lipocalin-2 (LCN2) is a small secretory protein that can be transcriptionally upregulated via nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling. It is synthesized and secreted by glial cells, resulting in either the restoration of damaged neural tissues or the induction of neuronal apoptosis in a context-dependent manner. It has recently been reported that when glial cells are under lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory stress, either reduced production or accelerated degradation of LCN2 can alleviate neurotoxicity. However, the regulatory mechanisms of LCN2 in glial cells are not yet fully understood. In this study, we used primary astroglial-enriched cells which produce LCN2 and found that the production of LCN2 could be reduced by sodium arsenite treatment. Surprisingly, the reduced LCN2 production was not due to the suppression of NF-κB signaling. Mild oxidative stress induced by sodium arsenite treatment activated antioxidant responses and downregulated Lcn2 expression without reducing the viability of astroglial-enriched cells. Intriguingly, reduced LCN2 production could not be achieved by simple activation of the nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)–Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1) pathway in astroglial-enriched cells. Thus, it appears that mild oxidative stress, occurring in an Nrf2-independent manner, is required for the downregulation of Lcn2 expression. Taken together, our findings provide new insights into the regulatory mechanisms of LCN2 and suggest that mild oxidative stress may alter LCN2 homeostasis, even under neuroinflammatory conditions. The concentration of phenolic compounds in rapeseed is important because they are either anti-nutritional compounds or directly related to antioxidant activity. In this study, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified using genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS), and an association study was conducted to investigate phenolic content in 95 rapeseed mutant lines derived from gamma rays and their original cultivar. A total of 3,196,318 SNPs were detected, resulting in the identification of a set of 70,208 union SNPs used to perform association studies. Seven compounds were identified, sinapine being the major phenolic compound (91.2–99.2%) in all genotypes. An association study was conducted for seven compounds and total phenolic content (TPC). It identified 241 SNPs that were significantly associated with these compounds, total sinapine content (TSC), and TPC. Based on the SNP markers detected, BnaC02g20420D was associated with dihexose, BnaC08g30570D with progoitrin, BnaA01g06890D with methyl sinapate, BnaA09g16810D with sinapine(4-O-8′)guaiacyl, BnaCnng39930D with trans-sinapine 1, BnaA07g31720D with trans-sinapine 2, BnaC03g31950D with sinapoyl malate, and BnaAnng27700D with TPC. These were selected as candidate genes that may play a key role in rapeseed. Previously, we demonstrated that mitochondrial transplantation has beneficial effects in a polymicrobial sepsis model. However, the mechanism has not been fully investigated. Mitochondria have their own genes, and genomic changes in sepsis are an important issue in terms of pathophysiology, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets. To investigate the changes in transcriptomic features after mitochondrial transplantation in a polymicrobial sepsis model, we used a rat model of fecal slurry polymicrobial sepsis. Total RNA from splenocytes of sham-operated (SHAM, n = 10), sepsis-induced (SEPSIS, n = 7), and sepsis receiving mitochondrial transplantation (SEPSIS + MT, n = 8) samples was extracted and we conducted a comparative transcriptome-wide analysis between three groups. We also confirmed these results with qPCR. In terms of percentage of mitochondrial mapped reads, the SEPSIS + MT group had a significantly higher mapping ratio than the others. RT1-M2 and Cbln2 were identified as highly expressed in SEPSIS + MT compared with SEPSIS. Using SHAM expression levels as another control variable, we further identified six genes (Fxyd4, Apex2l1, Kctd4, 7SK, SNORD94, and SNORA53) that were highly expressed after sepsis induction and observed that their expression levels were attenuated by mitochondrial transplantation. Changes in transcriptomic features were identified after mitochondrial transplantation in sepsis. This might provide a hint for exploring the mechanism of mitochondrial transplantation in sepsis. Simple Summary: Prednisolone (PSL) is generally used as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent. To establish a withdrawal period using PSL in this study, PSL residual levels and withdrawal time (WT) were assessed in milk after PSL was administered to healthy cows. As a result, the LC-MS/MS method's recovery rate, relative standard deviation, and detection sensitivity met all required standards. At 24 h after treatment, the amount of PSL in milk containing 10 and 20 mg/mL of PSL was lower than the LOD and the LOQ. The time limit for withdrawal was set at 12 h. In summary, since the residual withdrawal period of PSL in milk is shorter than that of the test drug, it suggests that the administration of PSL preparations will produce less milk wastage than that of previous recommendations. We measured the levels of prednisolone (PSL) residues in milk of intramuscularly dosed dairy cows and established a withdrawal time (WT) of PSL in milk. Eight healthy Holstein cows were injected with 10 (PSL-1) or 20 (PSL-2) mL of 10 mg/mL of PSL, and then, their milk was sampled at 12 h intervals for five days. PSL residue concentrations in milk were determined using LC-MS/MS. The correlation coefficient of the calibration curve was 0.9976. The limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantification (LOQ) were 0.2 µg/kg and 0.6 μg/kg, respectively. Recoveries ranged from 96.5% to 110.0%, and the coefficient of variation was <5.64%. At 24 h after administration, PSL levels in PSL-1 and PSL-2 were below the LOQ in all milk samples. Although this study had a smaller sample size than the European Medicines Agency's recommendations (n = 20), it was based on the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency guidelines of the Republic of Korea (n = 8) for the determination of withdrawal periods in milk. We established the withdrawal period for both PSL-1 and PSL-2 in milk at 12 h. In conclusion, we developed an analytical method that is sensitive and can reliably detect PSL in milk, and our estimated WT of PSL in bovine milk is shorter than the current 3-day withdrawal period of PSL in commercial PSL products. The protein extract of Ulva australis hydrolyzed with Alcalase and Flavourzyme was found to have multi-functional properties, including total antioxidant capacity (TAC), collagenase inhibitory, and antibacterial activities. The #5 fraction (SP5) and #7 fraction (SP7) of U. australis hydrolysate from cation-exchange chromatography displayed significantly high TAC, collagenase inhibitory, and antibacterial effects against Propionibacterium acnes, and only the Q3 fraction from anion-exchange chromatography displayed high multi-functional activities. Eight of 42 peptides identified by MALDI-TOF/MS and Q-TOF/MS/MS were selected from the results for screening with molecular docking on target proteins and were then synthesized. Thr-Gly-Thr-Trp (TGTW) displayed ABTS [2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)] radical scavenging activity. The effect of TAC as Trolox equivalence was dependent on the concentration of TGTW. Asn-Arg-Asp-Tyr (NRDY) and Arg-Asp-Arg-Phe (RDRF) exhibited collagenase inhibitory activity, which increased according to the increase in concentration, and their IC50 values were 0.95 mM and 0.84 mM, respectively. Peptides RDRF and His-Ala-Val-Tyr (HAVY) displayed anti-P. Acnes effects, with IC50 values of 8.57 mM and 13.23 mM, respectively. Chlorophyll biosynthesis is a crucial biological process in plants, and chlorophyll content is one of the most important traits in rice breeding programs. In this study, we identified a lethal, chlorophyll-deficient, yellow seedling (YS) phenotype segregating in progeny of CR5055-21, an F2 plant derived from a backcross between Korean japonica variety 'Hwaseong' (Oryza sativa) and CR5029, which is mostly Hwaseong with a small amount of Oryza grandiglumis chromosome segments. The segregation of the mutant phenotype was consistent with a single gene recessive mutation. Light microscopy of YS leaf cross-sections revealed loosely arranged mesophyll cells and sparse parenchyma in contrast to wildtype. In addition, transmission electron microscopy showed that chloroplasts did not develop in the mesophyll cells of the YS mutant. Quantitative trait loci (QTL)-seq analysis did not detect any significant QTL, however, examination of the individual delta-SNP index identified a 2-bp deletion (AG) in the OsCHLI gene, a magnesium (Mg)-chelatase subunit. A dCAPs marker was designed and genotyping of a segregating population (n = 275) showed that the mutant phenotype co-segregated with the marker. The 2-bp deletion was predicted to result in a frameshift mutation generating a premature termination. The truncated protein likely affects formation and function of Mg-chelatase, which consists of three different subunits that together catalyze the first committed step of chlorophyll biosynthesis. Transcriptome analysis showed that photosynthesis and carbohydrate metabolism pathways were significantly altered although expression of OsCHLI was not. Chlorophyll- and carotenoid-related genes were also differentially expressed in the YS mutant. The calmodulin-binding transcription activators (CAMTAs) mediate transcriptional regulation of development, growth, and responses to various environmental stresses in plants. To understand the biological roles of soybean CAMTA (GmCAMTA) family members in response to abiotic stresses, we characterized expression patterns of 15 GmCAMTA genes in response to various abiotic stresses. The GmCAMTA genes exhibited distinct circadian regulation expression patterns and were differently expressed in response to salt, drought, and cold stresses. Interestingly, the expression levels of GmCAMTA2, GmCAMTA8, and GmCAMTA12 were higher in stem tissue than in other soybean tissues. To determine the roles of GmCAMTAs in the regulation of developmental processes and stress responses, we isolated GmCAMTA2 and GmCAMTA8 cDNAs from soybean and generated Arabidopsis overexpressing transgenic plants. The GmCAMTA2-OX and GmCAMTA8-OX plants showed hypersensitivity to drought stress. The water in the leaves of GmCAMTA2-OX and GmCAMTA8-OX plants was lost faster than that in wild-type (WT) plants under drought-stress conditions. In addition, stress-responsive genes were down-regulated in the GmCAMTA2-OX and GmCAMTA8-OX plants under drought stress conditions compared to WT plants. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect that Glycine max hydrolyzed with enzymes from Bacillus velezensis KMU01 has on dextran-sulfate-sodium (DSS)-induced colitis in mice. Hydrolysis improves functional health through the bioconversion of raw materials and increase in intestinal absorption rate and antioxidants. Therefore, G. max was hydrolyzed in this study using a food-derived microorganism, and its anti-inflammatory effect was observed. Enzymatically hydrolyzed G. max (EHG) was orally administered once daily for four weeks before DSS treatment. Colitis was induced in mice through the consumption of 5% (w/v) DSS in drinking water for eight days. The results showed that EHG treatment significantly alleviated DSS-induced body weight loss and decreased the disease activity index and colon length. In addition, EHG markedly reduced tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-6 production, and increased that of IL-10. EHG improved DSS-induced histological changes and intestinal epithelial barrier integrity in mice. Moreover, we found that the abundance of 15 microorganisms changed significantly; that of Proteobacteria and Escherichia coli, which are upregulated in patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, decreased after EHG treatment. Previous research has shown that both heat-treated green tea extract (HTGT) and enzymatically modified isoquercitrin (EMIQ) have anti-obesity effects. Given the absence of in vivo evidence demonstrating their synergistic effects, our study aimed to elucidate the combined obesity prevention potential of HTGT and EMIQ in mice. Mice were treated with these compounds for 8 weeks, while being fed a high-fat diet, to investigate their preventive anti-obesity effects. We demonstrated that the co-treatment of HTGT and EMIQ results in a synergistic anti-obesity effect, as determined by a Kruskal–Wallis test. Furthermore, the combined treatment of HTGT and EMIQ was more effective than orlistat in reducing body weight gain and adipocyte hypertrophy induced by high-fat diet. The co-treatment also significantly reduced total body fat mass and abdominal fat volume. Additionally, the group receiving the co-treatment exhibited increased energy expenditure and higher glucose intolerance. We observed a dose-dependent upregulation of genes associated with mitochondrial oxidative metabolism and PKA signaling, which is linked to lipolysis, in response to the co-treatment. The co-treatment group displayed elevated cAMP levels and AMPK activation in adipose tissue and increased excretion of fecal lipids. The results indicate that the co-treatment of HTGT and EMIQ holds the potential to be a promising combination therapy for combating obesity. Previously, we have shown that mitochondrial transplantation in the sepsis model has immune modulatory effects. The mitochondrial function could have different characteristics dependent on cell types. Here, we investigated whether the effects of mitochondrial transplantation on the sepsis model could be different depending on the cell type, from which mitochondria were isolated. We isolated mitochondria from L6 muscle cells, clone 9 liver cells and mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). We tested the effects of mitochondrial transplantation using in vitro and in vivo sepsis models. We used the LPS stimulation of THP-1 cell, a monocyte cell line, as an in vitro model. First, we observed changes in mitochondrial function in the mitochondria-transplanted cells. Second, we compared the anti-inflammatory effects of mitochondrial transplantation. Third, we investigated the immune-enhancing effects using the endotoxin tolerance model. In the in vivo polymicrobial fecal slurry sepsis model, we examined the survival and biochemical effects of each type of mitochondrial transplantation. In the in vitro LPS model, mitochondrial transplantation with each cell type improved mitochondrial function, as measured by oxygen consumption. Among the three cell types, L6-mitochondrial transplantation significantly enhanced mitochondrial function. Mitochondrial transplantation with each cell type reduced hyper-inflammation in the acute phase of in vitro LPS model. It also enhanced immune function during the late immune suppression phase, as shown by endotoxin tolerance. These functions were not significantly different between the three cell types of origin for mitochondrial transplantation. However, only L6-mitochondrial transplantation significantly improved survival compared to the control in the polymicrobial intraabdominal sepsis model. The effects of mitochondria transplantation on both in vitro and in vivo sepsis models differed depending on the cell types of origin for mitochondria. Simple Summary: Fish-derived primary cells are highly valuable for investigating cell–virus interactions, virus isolation, diagnosis, and vaccine development because of their rapid growth rate and high susceptibility to viruses. We established a new cell line, the dwarf gourami fin (DGF), from the caudal fin of the dwarf gourami (Trichogaster lalius). We analyzed the optimal growth conditions, including media, temperature, and fetal bovine serum concentration, modal chromosome number, and transfection efficiency. The susceptibility of DGF cells to different viruses, including red sea bream iridovirus, infectious spleen and kidney necrosis virus, viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus, hirame rhabdovirus, and spring viraemia of carp virus was evaluated. The detection of megalocytiviruses, especially the infectious spleen and kidney necrosis virus (ISKNV), in ornamental fish has increased with the rapid growth of the ornamental fish industry. In this study, dwarf gourami fin (DGF) cells derived from the caudal fin of the dwarf gourami (Trichogaster lalius), which is highly susceptible to red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV) and ISKNV, were established and characterized. The DGF cells were grown at temperatures ranging from 25 °C to 30 °C in Leibovitz's L-15 medium supplemented with 15% fetal bovine serum and were subcultured for more than 100 passages, predominantly with epithelial-like cells. DGF cells had a diploid chromosome number of 2n = 44. Although the initial purpose of this study was to establish a cell line for the causative agents of red sea bream iridoviral disease (RSIV and ISKNV), DGF cells were also susceptible to rhabdoviruses (viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus, hirame rhabdovirus, and spring viraemia of carp virus), exhibiting a significant cytopathic effect characterized by cell rounding and lysis. Additionally, viral replication and virion morphology were confirmed using virus-specific conventional polymerase chain reaction and transmission electron microscopy. Furthermore, both RSIV and ISKNV were replicated at high concentrations in DGF cells compared to other cell lines. Notably, the DGF cells maintained a monolayer during ISKNV infection, indicating the possibility of persistent infection. Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) is a promising biomass crop with high yields of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. Sorghum biomass has emerged as an eco-friendly industrial material useful for producing biofuels and bioplastics. This study conducted genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS)-based genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to establish the genetic basis of traits associated with biomass. Specifically, the researchers evaluated agronomic traits and phenolic compounds using 96 sorghum genotypes. Six phenolic compounds, luteolinidin diglucoside, luteolin glucoside, apigeninidin glucoside, luteolinidin, apigeninidin, and 5-O-Me luteolinidin, were found to be the major phenolic compounds in all genotypes. Out of our six detected phenolic compounds (luteolinidin diglucoside, luteolin glucoside, apigeninidin glucoside, luteolinidin, apigeninidin, and 5-O-Me luteolinidin), luteolinidin was the major phenolic compound in all genotypes. Next, a GWAS analysis was performed to confirm significant associations between 192,040 filtered single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and biomass-related traits. The study identified 40 SNPs on 10 chromosomes that were significantly associated with heading date (4 SNPs), plant height (3 SNPs), dry yield (2 SNPs), and phenolic compounds (31 SNPs). The GWAS analysis showed that SbRio.10G099600 (FUT1) was associated with heading date, SbRio.09G149200 with plant height, SbRio.06G211400 (MAFB) with dry yield, SbRio.04G259800 (PDHA1) with total phenolic content and luteolinidin diglucoside, and SbRio.02G343600 (LeETR4) with total phenolic content and luteolinidin, suggesting that these genes could play key roles in sorghum. In this study, a multicolor visual method based on a magnetic immunoassay and enzyme-induced gold nanobipyramids (Au NBPs) etching was developed for deoxynivalenol (DON) detection. The magnetic beads modified with high affinity DON monoclonal antibodies were used as a carrier for target enrichment and signal transformation and the Au NBPs with excellent plasmonic optical properties were served as enzymatic etching substrates. The oxidation state TMB, which was generated through catalysis of horseradish peroxidase (HRP), induced the etching of plasmonic Au NBPs, resulting in the longitudinal peak blue-shift of local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). Correspondingly, Au NBPs with various aspect ratios displayed a variety of individual colors which were visualized by the naked eye. The LSPR peak shift was linearly related to the DON concentration in the range of 0~2000 ng/mL and the detection limit was 57.93 ng/mL. The recovery for naturally contaminated wheat and maize at different concentrations ranged from 93.7% to 105.7% with a good relative standard deviation below 11.8%. Through observing the color change in Au NBPs, samples with overproof DON could be screened preliminarily by the naked eye. The proposed method has the potential to be applied in on-site rapid screening of mycotoxins in grain. Sample pretreatment is a vital step in the detection of mycotoxins, and traditional pretreatment methods are time-consuming, labor-intensive and generate much organic waste liquid. In this work, an automatic, high-throughput and environmentally friendly pretreatment method is proposed. Immunomagnetic beads technology and dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction technology are combined, and the zearalenone in corn oils is directly purified and concentrated under the solubilization effects of surfactant. The proposed pretreatment method allows for the batch pretreatment of samples without pre-extraction using organic reagents, and almost no organic waste liquid is produced. Coupled with UPLC-FLD, an effective and accurate quantitative detection method for zearalenone is established. The recovery of spiked zearalenone in corn oils at different concentrations ranges from 85.7 to 89.0%, and the relative standard deviation is below 2.9%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the cognitive characteristics that can be induced by vibration stimuli at two intensities, three frequencies, and five presentation periods. The experiment was conducted on 20 right-handed adult males, and a subjective evaluation was performed using a questionnaire. Regression analysis was performed to observe the parameters affecting cognitive characteristics according to changes in intensity, frequency, and stimulation duration. The regression analysis results showed that the cognitive characteristics affected by changes in intensity, frequency, and stimulation duration were "heavy", "bold", "thick", and "light". The cognitive characteristics affected by two-variable combinations were "deep", "clear", "vibrating", "dense", "numb", "blunt", "shallow", "fuzzy", and "soft". Cognitive characteristics affected by either intensity, frequency, or stimulation duration were "fast", "pungent", "skinny", "thin", "slow", "ticklish", "tingling", "prickling", "tap", and "rugged". By observing the cognitive characteristics that can be induced by the combination of intensity, frequency, and stimulation duration, we confirmed that in addition to intensity and frequency, the stimulation duration is an important factor that influences the induction of various cognitive characteristics. A total of 181 citrus-based products, including dried fruits, canned fruits, and fruit juices, collected from China and from abroad in 2021 were analyzed for the four Alternaria toxins (ALTs): alternariol (AOH), alternariol monomethyl ether (AME), tentoxin (TEN), and tenuazonic acid (TeA) via ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization–tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-MS). Although the concentrations of the four ALTs varied by product and geographically, TeA was the predominant toxin followed by AOH, AME, and TEN. Products made in China showed higher levels of ALTs than those made abroad. Maximum levels of TeA, AOH, and AME in analyzed domestic samples were 4.9-fold, 1.3-fold, and 1.2-fold, respectively, higher than those in imported products. Furthermore, 83.4% (151/181) of the analyzed citrus-based products were contaminated with at least two or more ALTs. There were significant positive correlations between AOH and AME, AME and TeA, and TeA and TEN in all analyzed samples. More importantly, the solid and the condensed liquid products had higher concentrations of ALTs than the semi-solid product samples, as well as tangerines, pummelos, and grapefruits compared to the other kinds of citrus-based products. In conclusion, co-contamination with ALTs in commercially available Chinese citrus-based products was universal. Extensive and systematic surveillance of ALTs in citrus-based products, both domestic and imported, is required to obtain more scientific data for the determination of the maximum allowable concentrations of ALTs in China. Temperature and humidity profiles in the atmospheric boundary layer are essential for climate studies. The ground-based infrared hyperspectral spectrometer has the advantage of measuring radiances emitted from the atmosphere at a high temporal and moderate vertical resolution. In this article, the retrieval of temperature and humidity profiles from ground-based infrared hyperspectral observations is exploited. Although existing inversion algorithms based on physical models or statistical learning have made some progress, they still suffer from high computational complexity or poor performance. Motivated by the strength of the deep learning, we present a deep retrieval architecture (DReA) by skillfully designing a light-weight one-dimensional convolution neural network (CNN) to retrieve the temperature and humidity profiles. Experiments were conducted using atmospheric emitted radiance interferometer (AERI) and radiosonde data to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed DReA. The validation of the DReA with the radiosonde, using 802 profiles with 37 layers below 3 km, presents an excellent retrieval ability with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.87 K for the temperature and 1.06 g/kg for the water vapor mixing ratio. Furthermore, a thorough comparison with commonly used inversion methods such as the traditional back propagation (BP) and the eigenvector (EV) regression method, shows that our proposed DReA method obtains a leading solution in retrieving temperature and humidity profiles. Vitamin D plays a crucial role in regulating the growth and maintenance of the musculoskeletal system. Postmenopausal women are vulnerable to bone fractures because of the decrease in bone mineral density (BMD). Therefore, this study aimed to identify the determinants that influence BMD and the 25(OH)D levels in Korean postmenopausal women. This study collected general and dietary intake information, measured biochemical indices, and conducted BMD tests in 96 postmenopausal women residing in a metropolitan area in Korea. This study analyzed factors that influenced serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) and BMD, as well as the correlation between the intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) and serum 25(OH)D levels. The serum 25(OH)D levels increased by 0.226 ng/mL in the summertime, 0.314 ng/mL in the wintertime, and 0.370 ng/mL on annual average when vitamin D intake rose by 1 µg/1000 kcal. When the serum 25(OH)D levels were ≥18.9 ng/mL, the iPTH levels did not rapidly increase. To maintain the serum 25(OH)D levels at ≥18.9 ng/mL, a daily vitamin D intake of ≥13.21 µg was required. With the most recent developments in wearable technology, the possibility of continually monitoring stress using various physiological factors has attracted much attention. By reducing the detrimental effects of chronic stress, early diagnosis of stress can enhance healthcare. Machine Learning (ML) models are trained for healthcare systems to track health status using adequate user data. Insufficient data is accessible, however, due to privacy concerns, making it challenging to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) models in the medical industry. This research aims to preserve the privacy of patient data while classifying wearable-based electrodermal activities. We propose a Federated Learning (FL) based approach using a Deep Neural Network (DNN) model. For experimentation, we use the Wearable Stress and Affect Detection (WESAD) dataset, which includes five data states: transient, baseline, stress, amusement, and meditation. We transform this raw dataset into a suitable form for the proposed methodology using the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) and min-max normalization pre-processing methods. In the FL-based technique, the DNN algorithm is trained on the dataset individually after receiving model updates from two clients. To decrease the over-fitting effect, every client analyses the results three times. Accuracies, Precision, Recall, F1-scores, and Area Under the Receiver Operating Curve (AUROC) values are evaluated for each client. The experimental result shows the effectiveness of the federated learning-based technique on a DNN, reaching 86.82% accuracy while also providing privacy to the patient's data. A preparation method of nanocomposites based on poly (3-octylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (POT) and carbon black (CB) as the transducer of an all-solid potassium ion selective electrode is proposed. POT is used as the dispersant of CB, and the obtained nanocomposites have unique characteristics, including high conductivity, high capacitance and high stability. The potassium ion selective electrode based on POT and CB was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and chronopotentiometry. The results showed that the detection limit of potassium ions was 10−6.2 M, and the slope was 57.6 ± 0.8 mV/façade. The water layer test and anti-interference test show that the electrode has high hydrophobicity, the static contact angle reaches 139.7° and is not easily affected by light, O2 and CO2. The mycotoxin ochratoxin A (OTA) is toxic to humans and frequently contaminates wine and beer. Antibodies are essential recognition probes for the detection of OTA. However, they have several drawbacks, such as high costs and difficulty in preparation. In this study, a novel magnetic-bead-based automated strategy for efficient and low-cost OTA sample preparation was developed. Human serum albumin, which is an economical and stable receptor based on the mycotoxin–albumin interaction, was adapted and validated to replace conventional antibodies to capture OTA in the sample. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography–fluorescence detection was used in combination with this preparation method for efficient detection. The effects of different conditions on this method were investigated. The recovery of OTA samples spiked at three different concentrations ranged from 91.2% to 102.1%, and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were 1.2%–8.2% in wine and beer. For red wine and beer samples, the LODs were 0.37 and 0.15 µg/L, respectively. This reliable method overcomes the drawbacks of conventional methods and offers significant application prospects. Agastache rugosa, otherwise called Korean mint, has a wide range of medicinal benefits. In addition, it is a rich source of several medicinally valuable compounds such as acacetin, tilianin, and some phenolic compounds. The present study aimed to investigate how the Tartary buckwheat transcription factor AtMYB12 increased the primary and secondary metabolites in Korean mint hairy roots cultured under light and dark conditions. A total of 50 metabolites were detected by using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography–time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC-TOFMS). The result showed that the AtMYB12 transcription factor upregulated the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway genes, which leads to the highest accumulation of primary and secondary metabolites in the AtMYB12-overexpressing hairy root lines (transgenic) than that of the GUS-overexpressing hairy root line (control) when grown under the light and dark conditions. However, when the transgenic hairy root lines were grown under dark conditions, the phenolic and flavone content was not significantly different from that of the control hairy root lines. Similarly, the heat map and hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) result showed that most of the metabolites were significantly abundant in the transgenic hairy root cultures grown under light conditions. Principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least-squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) showed that the identified metabolites were separated far based on the primary and secondary metabolite contents present in the control and transgenic hairy root lines grown under light and dark conditions. Metabolic pathway analysis of the detected metabolites showed 54 pathways were identified, among these 30 were found to be affected. From these results, the AtMYB12 transcription factor activity might be light-responsive in the transgenic hairy root cultures, triggering the activation of the primary and secondary metabolic pathways in Korean mint. Periodontitis is caused by pathogens in the oral cavity. It is a chronic infectious disease that causes symptoms including gingival bleeding and tooth loss resulting from the destruction of periodontal tissues coupled with inflammation. Dendropanax morbiferus H.Lév (DM) is a natural product that exhibits various biological activities with few side effects. In this study, the potential of DM leaf hot-water extracts (DMWE) as a treatment for periodontitis was determined and its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects were evaluated. Compounds in DMWE were identified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production was measured in RAW 264.7 cells. We measured the gingival index and gingival sulcus depth, and micro-CT was performed in vivo using a ligature-induced periodontitis rat model, which is similar to human periodontitis. The DMWE-treated group exhibited a decrease in cytokine concentration and relieved the gingival index and gingival sulcus depth compared with the periodontitis-induced control group. In addition, micro-CT and histological analysis revealed that DMWE exhibited anti-inflammatory effects and improved alveolar bone loss in periodontitis-induced rats. These findings suggest that DMWE has excellent anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects that protect and prevent periodontal tissue damage and tooth loss caused by the inflammatory response. The competence of machine learning approaches to carry out clinical expertise tasks has recently gained a lot of attention, particularly in the field of medical-imaging examination. Among the most frequently used clinical-imaging modalities in the healthcare profession is chest radiography, which calls for prompt reporting of the existence of potential anomalies and illness diagnostics in images. Automated frameworks for the recognition of chest abnormalities employing X-rays are being introduced in health departments. However, the reliable detection and classification of particular illnesses in chest X-ray samples is still a complicated issue because of the complex structure of radiographs, e.g., the large exposure dynamic range. Moreover, the incidence of various image artifacts and extensive inter- and intra-category resemblances further increases the difficulty of chest disease recognition procedures. The aim of this study was to resolve these existing problems. We propose a deep learning (DL) approach to the detection of chest abnormalities with the X-ray modality using the EfficientDet (CXray-EffDet) model. More clearly, we employed the EfficientNet-B0-based EfficientDet-D0 model to compute a reliable set of sample features and accomplish the detection and classification task by categorizing eight categories of chest abnormalities using X-ray images. The effective feature computation power of the CXray-EffDet model enhances the power of chest abnormality recognition due to its high recall rate, and it presents a lightweight and computationally robust approach. A large test of the model employing a standard database from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) was conducted to demonstrate the chest disease localization and categorization performance of the CXray-EffDet model. A rapid, accurate, and ecofriendly pretreatment plays an extremely important role prior to ICP-MS for heavy metal analysis. In order to improve the pretreatment efficiency, a high-throughput and automatic magnetic solid-phase extraction of five heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Mn, Cu, and Zn) was carried out by a magnet-controlled pretreatment system with an ecofriendly diluted acid as an extracting agent and carboxyl-functionalized magnetic beads as a pretreatment material. Key conditions, including the pH, adsorption time, and eluent solution, were optimized. The time for purification and enrichment was only 8 min. The adsorption capacities of the carboxyl-functionalized magnetic beads were in the range of 152~426 mg g−1. The preconcentration factor of Cu was 40, and others were 200. In the optimal conditions, the limits of detection for Mn, Zn, Cd, Cu, and Pb by ICP-MS were 3.84, 2.71, 0.16, 11.54, and 6.01 ng L−1, respectively. The percentage recoveries were in the range of 80~110%, and the relative standard deviations were less than 3%. The developed method was in good agreement with traditional standard microwave digestion. Additionally, the designed system could simultaneously process up to 24 samples within 22 min, reducing the time to less than 1 min/sample. Thus, the proposed auto-MSPE-ICP-MS method was successfully applied to analyze five heavy metals in cereals and feeds with a simple operation and high precision, safety, and reliability. The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of audible and inaudible binaural beat stimuli on alpha power elicitation and compare the differences in triggering effects depending on sound perception. Experiments were conducted on healthy male and female subjects (11 males and 10 females, mean age of 24.6 ± 1.8). To induce alpha waves, audible (250 Hz) or non-audible baseline sound frequencies (18,000 Hz) were presented to the left ear, and a frequency 10 Hz higher than the baseline was presented to the right ear. There were two experimental phases: a rest phase (5 min) in which no stimulus was presented and a stimulation phase (5 min) in which the binaural beat stimulus was presented. An electroencephalogram was measured at a sampling rate of 500 Hz, and relative alpha power values were calculated for each phase in each brain area. In the central regions, both baseline frequencies (audible and inaudible) increased the relative alpha power during the stimulation phase compared with the rest phase, and there were no differences between the two baseline frequencies. The ISTTWN algorithm overcame the defect of separating the production process of skeleton points and skeleton lines in tree branch point cloud skeleton extraction and improved the accuracy of the extracted initial skeletons, but the skeletons need further optimization. In the existing skeleton optimization, it is difficult to see the stump adjustment, and most of the bifurcation optimization and skeleton smoothness adopt fitting. Based on the characteristics of the initial skeletons extracted by the ISTTWN algorithm, this research optimizes the skeleton from four aspects. An algorithm for the stump adjustment for reconstructing the stump based on the layer and hierarchical relationship and an algorithm for the bifurcation optimization based on the local branch point cloud and cosine correlation are proposed, and an existing pruning method and a skeleton smoothing method are used. The results show that the skeleton optimization method proposed or used in this research has a high computational efficiency in general and can ultimately retain the necessary skeleton lines. In a visual analysis, the optimized skeleton is obviously much more natural and more in line with the actual topology of trees. In the quantitative analysis, the completeness, accuracy and effectiveness reached 97.82%, 95.72% and 89.47%, respectively. In this study, in addition to the existing tree parameters extracted by the skeleton or generalized cylinder model, the generated skeleton is used to extract the branch attributes. The R 2 of the deflection angle of the branch tip, distance from branch tip and branch length are about 0.897, 0.986 and 0.988, respectively, which illustrates that their models are very good.
