In the rapid development of urbanization, the sustained and healthy development of transportation infrastructure has become a widely discussed topic. The inspection and maintenance of asphalt pavements not only concern road safety and efficiency but also directly impact the rational allocation of resources and environmental sustainability. To address the challenges of modern transportation infrastructure management, this study innovatively proposes a hybrid learning model that integrates deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and support vector machines (SVMs). Specifically, the model initially employs a ShuffleNet architecture to autonomously extract abstract features from various defect categories. Subsequently, the Maximum Relevance Minimum Redundancy (MRMR) method is utilized to select the top 25% of features with the highest relevance and minimal redundancy. After that, SVMs equipped with diverse kernel functions are deployed to perform training and prediction based on the selected features. The experimental results reveal that the model attains a high classification accuracy of 94.62% on a self-constructed asphalt pavement image dataset. This technology not only significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency of pavement inspection but also effectively reduces traffic congestion and incremental carbon emissions caused by pavement distress, thereby alleviating environmental burdens. Cyclotides are plant cyclic peptides with exceptional stability and diverse bioactivity, making them promising candidates for biomedical applications. Therefore, the study of cyclotides has attracted increasing attention in recent years. However, the existing cyclotide detection methods face limitations in sensitivity, accuracy, and reliability. To address these challenges, we developed an integrated strategy using a combination of strong cation exchange chromatography techniques for removing interfering small molecules, Orbitrap Exploris 480 mass spectrometry (OEMS); this is a detection and database searching-based method for cyclotide verification, which greatly improved the sensitivity, accuracy, and reliability of cyclotide identification. This strategy was subsequently employed for cyclotide mapping in Viola with a minute amount of starting tissue, resulting the identification of 65 known and 18 potentially novel cyclotides, which is the largest dataset of cyclotides for Viola philippica. This strategy provided valuable insights into the cyclotide diversity and distribution in V. philippica, with potential applications in drug discovery and other biomedical fields. This study assessed the presence of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in China's northeastern black soil belt, an area with limited prior research. We collected 304 soil samples (0–20 cm) from Gonghe Town, Hailun City, and analyzed the PTE contamination degree using the single-factor pollution index and Nemerow pollution index. The results demonstrated that the mean concentrations of arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), mercury (Hg), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn) were 11.16, 0.11, 65.29, 22.56, 0.03, 27.07, 26.09, and 66.01 mg/kg, respectively. Source apportionment was conducted via correlation analysis, principal component analysis, and positive matrix factorization, identifying four main sources: natural (33.2%), irrigation (29.5%), fuel (23.4%), and fertilizer (13.2%). The ecological risk index indicated a slight ecological risk, while the human health risk showed that non-carcinogenic risks were negligible and carcinogenic risks were acceptable. Our findings emphasize the need to prioritize controlling PTEs from fertilizer, particularly cadmium, and to a lesser extent, irrigation and fuel sources, focusing on As, Pband Hg. Changes in land use types in alpine meadow areas have significant impacts on the ecological environment in alpine areas. Exploring land use change is crucial for land use management and optimization in alpine regions. Thus, it is necessary to analyze land use evolution and its drivers in alpine meadow regions from a production–living–ecology space (PLES) perspective by using remote sensing data. We first constructed the PLES evaluation system for Gannan. Then, we analyzed the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics and coupling degree of PLES in the study area. Finally, the driving factors affecting PLES were explored with geodetector. The conclusions of the study reveal that the distribution of productive and ecological spaces is large and concentrated, while the distribution of living spaces is more decentralized. The PLES was mainly concentrated in the area above 2500 m but below 4000 m and with a slope of 40° or less. During the study period, the area of production space showed a decreasing trend, while the areas of living and ecological space both showed increasing trends, primarily occurring at the expense of production space. DEM and GDP were the main factors affecting the distribution of PLES. The coupling level and the degree of coupling coordination were relatively stable in general, showing a pattern of "high in the east and low in the west". To achieve the goals of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", this paper puts forward the connotation and measurement method for the carbon emission intensity of urban industrial land and conducts an empirical study with the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) as an example. We defined the carbon intensity of urban industrial land as the industrial carbon emissions per unit area of land, which is a spatial mapping of urban industrial economic development and carbon spillover and a key indicator for urban and territorial spatial planning oriented towards the "dual carbon" goal. Findings: The carbon emission density of industrial land in the YREB varied greatly between cities and exhibited significant positive spatial autocorrelation. In addition, the geographical pattern and spatio-temporal evolution model of the urban industrial land carbon emission density had a very complex driving mechanism, and different factors had significant synergistic effects. Therefore, it is suggested that while striving towards the goal of "dual carbon", the government should incorporate the carbon emission density indicator of urban industrial land into the urban and territorial spatial planning system, and based on the threshold of the medium suitable density, they should design differentiated management policies according to concrete urban policies and encourage cooperation among cities to jointly promote carbon emission management of urban industrial land. In policy design, emphasis should also be placed on highlighting the interactive effects of foreign direct investment, fiscal expenditure, and the number of patent authorizations as well as constructing a combination of policies centered around them to better leverage the impacts of globalization, government intervention, and innovation. The accumulation of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in agricultural soils is of particular concern in China, while its status, ecological risks, and human health hazards have been little studied in the permafrost areas of Northeast China. In this study, 75 agricultural soil samples (0–20 cm) were collected from the Arctic Village, Mo'he City, in the northernmost part of China. The average concentration (mean ± standard deviation) of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, and Zn were 12.11 ± 3.66 mg/kg, 0.11 ± 0.08 mg/kg, 52.50 ± 8.83 mg/kg, 12.08 ± 5.12 mg/kg, 0.05 ± 0.02 mg/kg, 14.90 ± 5.35 mg/kg, 22.38 ± 3.04 mg/kg, and 68.07 ± 22.71 mg/kg, respectively. Correlation analysis, cluster analysis, and principal component analysis indicated that As, Cu, Ni, and Zn likely originated from geogenic processes, Hg and Pb from long-range atmospheric transport, Cd from planting activities, and Cr from Holocene alluvium. The geo-accumulation index and enrichment factor showed that As, Cd, Hg, and Zn are enriched in soils. The Nemerow pollution index showed that 66.67%, 24%, and 1.33% of soil samples were in slight, moderate, and heavy pollution levels, respectively, with Hg being the most important element affecting the comprehensive pollution index. The potential ecological risk index showed that 48.00% and 1.33% of soil samples were in the moderate ecological risk and high potential ecological risk levels, respectively. The non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic human health risk index for adults and children were both less than 1, which was within the acceptable range. This study revealed the accumulation pattern of PTEs in agricultural soils of permafrost regions and provided a scientific basis for research on ecological security and human health. Dietary oxidized fat contains harmful materials such as hydrogen peroxide and malondialdehyde (MDA). Excessive oxidized fat intake during pregnancy and lactation not only leads to maternal body injury but also damages offspring health. Our previous study demonstrated that vitamin D (VD) had antioxidative capability in sows. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of maternal VD and inulin supplementation in oxidized oil diet on the growth performance and oxidative stress of their offspring. Sixty 5-month-old C57BL/6N female mice were randomly divided into five groups: Control group (basal diet, n = 12), OF group (oxidized-soybean-oil-replaced diet, n = 12), OFV group (oxidized-soybean-oil-replaced diet + 7000 IU/kg VD, n = 12), OFI group (oxidized-soybean-oil-replaced diet + 5% inulin, n = 12) and OFVI group (oxidized-soybean-oil-replaced diet + 7000 IU/kg VD + 5% inulin, n = 12). Mice were fed with the respective diet during pregnancy and lactation. The offspring were then slaughtered on day 21 of age at weaning. Results showed that a maternal oxidized oil diet impaired body weight and liver weight gain of offspring during lactation compared to the control group, while maternal VD, inulin or VD and inulin mixture supplementation reversed this effect. In addition, the activity of T-AOC in the liver of offspring was lower in the OF group than that in the control group, but could be restored by maternal VD and inulin mixture supplementation. Furthermore, the gene expression of both proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as Il-6, Tnfα and Il-10, in offspring liver were downregulated by a maternal oxidized oil diet compared with the control group, but they were restored by maternal VD or VD and inulin mixture supplementation. The expressions of Vdr and Cyp27a1 were decreased by a maternal oxidized oil diet compared with the control group, while they could be increased by VD or VD and inulin mixture supplementation. Conclusion: maternal oxidized oil diet intake could impair the growth performance by inducing oxidative stress, but this can be relieved by maternal VD and inulin supplementation. The dynamic contact behavior between multi-component droplets and the surface of iron ore dust was taken as the research object, analysis of the maximum spreading coefficient, maximum acting diameter, maximum acting area, and maximum bouncing height of solid-liquid contact, from a microscopic perspective, using high-speed photography and image analysis and processing technology. The experimental results indicate that (1) with the particle size of dust particles decreases, the solid-liquid contact behavior sequentially manifests as spread immediately after broken, retraction, negative bounce, primary bounce, and secondary bounce. (2) When the surface tension of the droplets decreases from 55.5 to 34.8 mN/m, the maximum spreading diameter of the droplet has increased by 30% to 40%, the maximum bounce heights (coefficients) decreased by 100%, 57.14%, and 53.57%, respectively, the maximum spreading coefficient of the droplet exhibits no obvious pattern. (3) With decreasing droplet surface tension, the unidirectional acting diameter and the maximum acting area increase when the dust surface size is over 100 μm. When the surface particle size is less than 100 μm, there is no significant change in the unidirectional acting diameter and maximum acting area despite decreasing surface tension. Thus, droplet diffusion is mainly influenced by particle size. These findings contribute to enhancing the theory of water mist dust removal and improving dust removal efficiency. The application of harvest aids is an important prerequisite for the mechanical harvesting of cotton that can effectively reduce the impurity content and improve the picking rate and operating efficiency of machine-picked cotton. However, determining the appropriate spraying time of harvest aids to achieve the synergistic improvement of cotton boll weight and fiber quality is still unclear. In this study, the damage of harvest aids to cotton boll weight and fiber quality as well as its quantitative relationship to cotton boll age were studied through testing different harvest aid compounds and spraying times. The spraying of harvest aids significantly shortened the boll growth period of cotton by 3.60–6.45 d, and concentrated boll opening was beneficial to cotton mechanical harvesting. The boll weight of immature cotton was significantly decreased by 0.63–1.12 g; the fiber strength was significantly decreased by 2.48–2.77 cN·tex−1, and the micronaire value deteriorated. The negative effect on the boll weight and fiber quality was aggravated by the decrease in the ratio of boll age to boll period (Rd/b) during the harvest aid spraying time. When the fiber strength damage was controlled at 1%, the spraying time Rd/b of the harvest aids was 0.77–0.82, and the boll weight loss was also controlled at 5%. Therefore, it is recommended that an Rd/b of 0.77–0.82 be used to balance the contradiction between cotton yield and fiber quality under harvest aid application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Asphalt mastic, which consists of an asphalt binder and a mineral filler, provides critical adhesion and viscoelasticity to an asphalt mixture. The rheological response of the asphalt mastic is mainly derived from its asphalt binder. In this study, a simple laboratory test method is proposed to estimate the relationship of asphalt binder and its mastic. Two modified binders (3.5% and 4.0% styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) of asphalt binder by mass) were blended with a limestone filler at six different mineral filler contents to produce mastic samples. A modified multiple stress creep-recovery (MSCR) test was conducted on both the asphalt binder and its mastic with the same testing protocols, and the stress conditions and rheological response of asphalt binder in the mastic with linear or nonlinear viscoelasticity were both investigated. The results show that the stress of the asphalt binder in its mastic decreased with increasing filler contents. However, for the linear-viscoelasticity mastic, the decrease rate of the stress began to slow down when the filler content had reached 100% or 120%. For the rheological properties of the asphalt binder in the mastic, the %R of the asphalt binder was improved by adding filler, especially for the nonlinear-viscoelasticity mastic. The asphalt binder of the linear-viscoelasticity asphalt mastic also showed a linear viscoelastic response and a good recovery property. The accuracy of drought monitoring models is crucial for drought monitoring and early warning. Random forest (RF) is being used widely in the field of artificial intelligence. Nonetheless, the application of a random forest model in grassland drought monitoring research is yet to be further explored. In this study, various drought hazard factors were integrated based on remote sensing data, including from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM), as multisource remote sensing data. Based on the RF, a comprehensive grassland drought monitoring model was constructed and tested in Inner Mongolia, China, as an example. The critical issue addressed is the construction of a grassland drought disaster monitoring model based on meteorological data and multisource remote sensing data by using an RF model, and the verification of the accuracy and reliability of its monitoring results. The results show that the grassland drought monitoring model could quantitatively monitor the drought situation in Inner Mongolia grasslands. There was a significantly positive correlation between the drought indicators output by the model and the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI) measured in the field. The correlation coefficients (R) between the drought degree were 0.9706 and 0.6387 for the training set and test set, respectively. The consistent rate between the model drought index and the SPEI reached 87.90%. Drought events in Inner Mongolia were monitored from April to September in wet years, normal years, and dry years using the constructed model. The monitoring results of the model constructed in this study were in accordance with the actual drought conditions, reflecting the development and spatial evolution of drought conditions. The mechanical behavior of asphalt mixtures at high stress levels are characterized by non-linear viscoelasticity and damage evolution. A nonlinear damage constitutive model considering the existence of creep hardening and creep damage mechanisms in the entire creep process is proposed in this study by adopting the fractional rheology theory to characterize the three-stage creep process of mixtures. A series of uniaxial compressive creep tests under various stresses were conducted at different temperatures to verify the model. The results indicated that the model predictions were in good agreement with the creep tests. The relationship between the model parameters and applied stresses was established, and the stress range in which the mixture exhibited only creep consolidation was obtained. The damage to the asphalt mixture was initiated in the steady stage; however, it developed in the tertiary stage. A two-parameter Weibull distribution function was used to describe the evolution between the damage values and damage strains at different stress levels and temperatures. The correlation coefficients were greater than 0.99 at different temperatures, indicating that a unified damage evolution model could be established. Thus, the parameters of the unified model were related to material properties and temperature, independent of the stress levels applied to the mixtures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Dendroclimatology and dendroecology have entered mainstream dendrochronology research in subtropical and tropical areas. Our study focused on the use of the chronology series of Masson pine (Pinus massoniana Lamb.), the most widely distributed tree species in the subtropical wet monsoon climate regions in China, to understand the tree growth response to ecological and hydroclimatic variability. The boosted regression trees (BRT) model, a nonlinear machine learning method, was used to explore the complex relationship between tree-ring growth and climate factors on a larger spatial scale. The common pattern of an asymptotic growth response to the climate indicated that the climate-growth relationship may be linear until a certain threshold. Once beyond this threshold, tree growth will be insensitive to some climate factors, after which a nonlinear relationship may occur. Spring and autumn climate factors are important controls of tree growth in most study areas. General circulation model (GCM) projections of future climates suggest that warming climates, especially temperatures in excess of those of the optimum growth threshold (as estimated by BRT), will be particularly threatening to the adaptation of Masson pine.
