Enhanced plasticity is obtained in a structurally rejuvenated Zr-based bulk metallic glass (BMG) that has been treated via cryogenic thermal cycling (CTC) for one hundred cycles. More than one primary shear band is activated due to the structural rejuvenation, which can inhibit the jerky and system-spanning propagation of shear bands to generate sluggish shear-dynamics. These are mapped to the slip statistics, including the decreased critical avalanche size, the much longer avalanche duration of large (system-spanning) slips, and a great number of small avalanches. Moreover, the universal scaling of slip avalanches for three applied stress ranges is addressed to predict the applied stress at which the failure avalanche appears most. These results indicate that slip statistics can be the fingerprints to show how much the BMG is rejuvenated, and the failure avalanche provides a good opportunity to intervene in the failure of BMGs in advance. The effect of hydrogen content on the deformation and fracture behavior of 27Cr−4Mo−2Ni super ferritic stainless steel (SFSS) was investigated in this study. It was shown that the plasticity and yield strength of SFSS were very susceptible to hydrogen content. The introduction of hydrogen led to a significant decrease in elongation and a concurrent increase in yield strength. Nevertheless, a critical threshold was identified in the elongation reduction, after which the elongation remained approximately constant even with more hydrogen introduced, while the yield strength exhibited a monotonic increase with increasing hydrogen content within the experimental range, attributed to the pinning effect of the hydrogen Cottrell atmosphere on dislocations. Furthermore, the hydrogen-charged SFSS shows an apparent drop in flow stress after upper yielding and a reduced work hardening rate during the subsequent plastic deformation. Ceramic matrix composites have the advantages of low density, high specific strength, high specific die, high-temperature resistance, wear resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, etc., which are widely used in aerospace, energy, transportation, and other fields. CMCs have become an important choice for engine components and other high-temperature component manufacturing. However, ceramic matrix composite is a kind of multi-phase structure, anisotropy, high hardness material, due to the brittleness of the ceramic matrix, the weak bonding force between fiber and matrix, and the anisotropy of composite material. Burr, delamination, tearing, chips, and other surface damage tend to generate in the machining, resulting in surface quality and strength decline. This paper reviewed the latest abrasive machining technology for SiC ceramic composites. The characteristics and research directions of the main abrasive machining technology, including grinding, laser-assisted grinding, ultrasonic-assisted grinding, and abrasive waterjet machining, are introduced first. Then, the commonly used numerical simulation research for modeling and simulating the machining of ceramic matrix composites is briefly summarized. With the rapid increase of wireless connectivity, current spectrum resources are not enough for significant requirements for large data capacity. Research interests are moving towards the high-frequency band in the terahertz range for wider bandwidth. However, multipath scattering and induced time delay, suffered by terahertz links propagating in outdoor weather, lead inevitably to increasing expenses in baseband signal processing. This trades away the advantage of low time latency and high stability, which are commonly considered as important merits of terahertz wireless communication techniques. To reduce the burden in signal processing and explore the feasibility of modulation identification in the terahertz band, a method of wireless link modulation identification is considered as a potential solution. In this work, it is investigated theoretically by employing two kinds of neural networks: the convolutional neural network (CNN) and the long short-term memory network (LSTM). Link deterioration caused by different atmospheric weather is introduced into the theoretical model, and the performance of this method is evaluated. Results show that the identification accuracy of the constructed neural networks can be up to 99%, which means such a method is efficient for identification of the modulation format of terahertz wireless links under different weather conditions. Speech emotion recognition is a crucial work direction in speech recognition. To increase the performance of speech emotion detection, researchers have worked relentlessly to improve data augmentation, feature extraction, and pattern formation. To address the concerns of limited speech data resources and model training overfitting, A-CapsNet, a neural network model based on data augmentation methodologies, is proposed in this research. In order to solve the issue of data scarcity and achieve the goal of data augmentation, the noise from the Noisex-92 database is first combined with four different data division methods (emotion-independent random-division, emotion-dependent random-division, emotion-independent cross-validation and emotion-dependent cross-validation methods, abbreviated as EIRD, EDRD, EICV and EDCV, respectively). The database EMODB is then used to analyze and compare the performance of the model proposed in this paper under different signal-to-noise ratios, and the results show that the proposed model and data augmentation are effective. Longan (Dimocarpus longan Lour.) is of great economic significance in South China for its unique taste and nutritional properties. However, longan breeding is mainly based on seedling selection, which generally results in small fruits, low flesh recovery, and few seedless germplasm. Triploid breeding is a central way to improve these problems. In this study, microspore chromosomes were doubled by colchicine and high-temperature treatment to create triploids in longans. The relationship between the development process of male gametophyte of longans and the morphological changes of male flower buds was established. Cytological observation showed that when the male flower buds were in stage I (when the diameter of the flower bud is 1.4–2.0 mm), most of the microspores were at the pachytene to diakinesis stage of meiosis, and the chromosome doubling induction effect was the best at this stage. The results showed that the 2n pollen rate induced by a high temperature of about 38 °C was higher than that induced by colchicine treatment. The highest 2n pollen rate was 5.7% and 5.5% based on the microscopic measurement method and the abnormal separation in tetrad stage estimation method, respectively. Four triploids were successfully obtained from artificial pollination with 2n pollen, with a triploid induction rate of 0.6%. This study will promote ploidy breeding in longan. Speech emotion recognition is a substantial component of natural language processing (NLP). It has strict requirements for the effectiveness of feature extraction and that of the acoustic model. With that in mind, a Heterogeneous Parallel Convolution Bi-LSTM model is proposed to address the challenges. It consists of two heterogeneous branches: the left one contains two dense layers and a Bi-LSTM layer, while the right one contains a dense layer, a convolution layer, and a Bi-LSTM layer. It can exploit the spatiotemporal information more effectively, and achieves 84.65%, 79.67%, and 56.50% unweighted average recalls on the benchmark databases EMODB, CASIA, and SAVEE, respectively. Simple Summary: Producing and field releasing a large number of natural enemies within a short time for pest control helps biological control programs succeed. However, host eggs are often unsynchronized with pest occurrence. Storing host eggs can help synchronize the production of parasitoids with demands of the program. Anastatus fulloi is an egg parasitoid wasp that has been successfully used to control the Tessaratoma papillosa Drury populations in south China. Antheraea pernyi eggs are used as factitious hosts of Anastatus fulloi, and cold storage of these eggs is important for large-scale rearing and successful release of Anastatus in the field. We studied the effects of cold storage of A. pernyi eggs on host egg quality and the fitness of A. fulloi. Cold storage reduced host egg quality and the suitability of host eggs for A. fulloi. To minimize losses in the large-scale rearing of A. fulloi, A. pernyi eggs should be refrigerated in a 0–3 °C or −5 °C water bath. The storage period should not exceed 6 months. The results of this study provide technical support for mass rearing of A. fulloi in biological control programs. Chinese silkworm (Antheraea pernyi) eggs are used as factitious hosts of Anastatus fulloi, and refrigeration of these eggs is essential for large-scale rearing of A. fulloi. We studied the effects of cold storage of A. pernyi eggs on egg quality and the fitness of A. fulloi reared on the eggs. Four cold storage treatments and two cold storage periods were assessed. The 0–3 °C refrigerator treatment was unsuitable for long-term (>70 days) storage. Cold storage at −5 °C and −18 °C increased the loss rate of A. pernyi eggs, but there was no significant difference between the control and 0–3 °C water bath treatment. The parasitism rate of A. fulloi was reduced when A. pernyi eggs were refrigerated for 6 or 12 months. There were no obvious differences in eclosion rate and percentage of females between control and eggs subjected to 6-month storage in 0–3 °C, −5 °C, and −18 °C water bath treatments. However, the eclosion rate and percentage of females decreased sharply when the storage period was 12 months. The overall eclosion rate of A. fulloi was reduced at the prolonged refrigeration time. Cold storage reduced host egg quality and their fitness suitability for A. fulloi. To minimize losses in the large-scale rearing of A. fulloi, A. pernyi eggs should be refrigerated in a 0–3 °C or −5 °C water bath treatment, and the storage period should not exceed 6 months. Tumor mutational burden (TMB) is considered a potential biomarker for predicting the response and effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). To find specific gene mutations related to TMB and the prognosis of patients, the frequently mutated genes in gastric cancer patients from TCGA and ICGC were obtained and the correlation between gene mutation, TMB, and prognosis was analyzed. Furthermore, to clarify whether specific gene mutations can be used as predictive biomarkers of ICIs, a gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) for immune pathways and an immune infiltration analysis were conducted. The results showed that CUB and Sushi multiple domains 1 (CSMD1) mutation (CSMD1-mut) were associated with higher TMB and better prognosis in patients. The genetic map showed that, compared with wild-type samples, the loss of chromosomes 4q, 5q, 8p, and 9p decreased and the status of microsatellite instability increased in the CSMD1-mut samples. The GSEA analysis showed that immune-related pathways were enriched in the CSMD1-mut samples. The immune infiltration analysis showed that the anti-tumor immune cells were upregulated and that the tumor-promoting immune cells were downregulated in the CSMD1-mut samples. The gene co-expression analysis showed that PD-L1 expression was higher in the CSMD1-mut samples. In summary, CSMD1-mut in gastric cancer was associated with increased TMB and favorable survival and may have potential significance in predicting the efficacy of anti-PD-L1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A high-quality Nd0.01:Gd0.89La0.1NbO4 (Nd:GLNO) crystal is grown by the Czochralski method, demonstrating wide absorption and fluorescence spectra and advantage for producing ultrafast laser pulses. In this paper, the tunable and passively mode-locking Nd:GLNO lasers are characterized for the first time. The tuning coverage is 34.87 nm ranging from 1058.05 to 1092.92 nm with a maximum output power of 4.6 W at 1065.29 nm. A stable continuous-wave (CW) passively mode-locking Nd:GLNO laser is achieved at 1065.26 nm, delivering a pulse width of 9.1 ps and a maximum CW mode-locking output power of 0.27 W. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and freshwater scarcity are central environmental concerns that are closely linked to crop production. The carbon footprint (CF) and water footprint (WF) of a crop can reflect the effects of crop production on GHG emissions and water use (WU), respectively. Studying the CFs and WFs associated with crop production will be conducive to understanding the environmental changes caused by agricultural activities, and exploring the relationship between CFs and WFs can provide a basis for strategies that reduce environmental pressures. We estimated the CF and WF of maize production in Jilin Province from 2004 to 2017 and analyzed their spatiotemporal characteristics. The results showed that the average CF and WF were 0.177 kg CO2eq/kg and 0.806 m3/kg from 2004 to 2017, respectively; 69% of the GHG emissions were due to the manufacture; transportation and application of fertilizer; and 84% of the water use was attributed to the green WF. The relationship between the CF and WF of maize production was significantly positive and indicated the possibility of simultaneous mitigation. Potential practices such as the optimization of fertilization and of agricultural machinery use and the incorporation of no-till technologies with the straw return are recommended to mitigate both GHG emissions and water use and achieve triple-win agriculture with low carbon use and water and energy savings. 6-shogaol is a promising anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory agent. However, the treatment effectiveness of 6-shogaol is limited by poor water solubility, poor oral absorption and rapid metabolism. Herein, 6-shogaol loaded in micelles (SMs) were designed to improve 6-shogaol's solubility and bioavailability. The micelles of a PEG derivative of linoleic acid (mPEG2k-LA) were prepared by the nanoprecipitation method with a particle size of 76.8 nm, and entrapment of 81.6 %. Intriguingly, SMs showed a slower release in phosphate buffer saline (PBS) (pH = 7.4) compared to free 6-shogaol while its oral bioavailability increased by 3.2–fold in vivo. More importantly, the in vitro cytotoxic effect in HepG2 cells of SMs was significantly higher than free 6-shogaol. Furthermore, SMs could significantly improve the tissue distribution of 6-shogaol, especially liver and brain. Finally, SMs showed a better hepatoprotective effect against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatic injury in vivo than free 6-shogaol.
