The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on milk fat globule (MFG) size and the ruminal microbiome of goats. Twenty-four mid-lactation Saanen dairy goats weighing 49 ± 4.5 kg (168 ± 27 d in milk, 1.2 ± 0.1 kg milk/d, 2–3 years old) were randomly divided into four groups—a control (CON) group, which was fed a basal diet, and three CLA supplementation groups, in which 30 g CLA (low-dose group, L-CLA), 60 g CLA (medium-dose group, M-CLA), or 90 g CLA (high-dose group, H-CLA) was added to the basal diet daily. The experiment lasted for 21 days, during which time goat milk was collected for composition and MFG size analysis. On day 21 of feeding, ruminal fluid was collected from the CON and H-CLA groups for analysis of the changes in microorganismal abundance. The results showed that CLA supplementation did not affect milk production, milk protein, or lactose content in the dairy goats (p > 0.05), but significantly reduced the milk fat content (p < 0.01) compared with the CON group. The CLA supplementation significantly decreased the D[3,2] and D[4,3] of the MFGs in a dose-dependent manner (p < 0.01). Moreover, dietary CLA inclusion increased the proportion of small-sized MFGs and decreased that of large-sized ones. The results of 16S rRNA gene sequencing showed that CLA-induced milk fat depression in dairy goats was accompanied by significant changes in the relative abundance of ruminal bacterial populations, most of which belonged to the Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes phyla. The relative abundance of Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group and Prevolellaceae_UCG-003 in Bacteroidetes and UCG-002, Succiniclasticum, and norank_f__norank_o__Clostridia_vadinBB60_group in Firmicutes was significantly higher in the CON group than in the H-CLA group. In contrast, the relative abundance of norank_f__UCG-011, norank_f_Eubacterium_coprostanoligenes_group, unclassified_f__Lachnospiraceae, and UCG-001 in Firmicutes and norank_f__Muribaculaceae in Bacteroidetes was significantly higher in the H-CLA group than in the CON group. Correlation analysis showed that the milk fat content was negatively correlated with the relative abundance of some bacteria, including members of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes. Similarly, MFG size (D[3,2] and D[4,3]) was negatively correlated with several members of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes, including Lachnospiraceae, norank_f__UCG-011, UCG-001, norank_f__Eubacterium_coprostanoligenes_group (Firmicutes), and norank_f__Muribaculaceae (Bacteroidetes), while positively correlated with the relative abundance of some members of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes, including Mycoplasma, Succiniclasticum, norank_f__norank_o__Clostridia_vadinBB60_group, UCG-002 (Firmicutes), and Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group (Bacteroidetes). Overall, our data indicated that CLA treatment affected milk fat content and MFG size in dairy goats, and these effects were correlated with the relative abundance of ruminal bacterial populations. These results provide the first evidence to explain the mechanism underlying diet-induced MFG from the perspective of the ruminal microbiome in dairy goats.

This study systematically investigated the effects of tea polyphenols on methane (CH4) production and the rumen epithelial cell transport capability in cattle using both in vitro and animal experiments, employing multi-omics techniques. The in vitro results demonstrated that, compared to the control group, tea polyphenols significantly reduced CH4 production and the acetate/propionate ratio (p < 0.05). Tea polyphenols reduced CH4 production by inhibiting the relative abundance of unclassified_d_Archaea methanogens and the protozoa Pseudoentodinium and g__Balantioides. The animal experiments showed that tea polyphenols significantly increased the concentrations of T-AOC and GSH-PX in bovine blood (p < 0.05). In addition, microbial groups such as Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group, Ruminococcaceae_NK4A214_group, and Butyrivibrio_2 were significantly enriched in the ruminal fluid of the tea polyphenol group (p < 0.05). The proteomic results indicated significant upregulation of proteins such as COIII, S100A8, FABP1, SLC2A8, and SLC29A1 (p < 0.05) and downregulation of proteins including HBB, RAB4A, RBP4, LOC107131172, HBA, and ZFYVE19 (p < 0.05), with FABP1 showing a positive correlation with propionate concentration, and RAB4A had a negative correlation (p < 0.05). Overall, tea polyphenols modulate the microbial composition within the rumen, inhibiting CH4 production and enhancing the host’s rumen epithelial cell transport capacity for volatile fatty acids.

The carbonate rock of the Qiulitage Formation is a significant stratum for oil and gas exploration in the Tarim Basin. To elucidate its environmental characteristics, we conducted tests and analyses of trace elements, carbon, and oxygen isotopes of the carbonate rocks of the Qiulitage Formation in the Kekeqigankake section of the Keping area. The results reveal that δ13C values range between −1.7‰ and 4.3‰, with an average value of 1.645‰. δ18O values fluctuate from −11.4‰ to −6‰, with an average value of −8.2475‰. Z values (paleosalinity) vary from 120.33 to 131.67, significantly exceeding 120 with an average value of 126.52, indicating a marine sedimentary environment. Paleotemperature values (T) range from 12.75 to 29.09 °C, with an average value of 21.36 °C, suggesting warm climate conditions. In industrial vision, the lack of defect samples is one of the key constraints of depth vision quality inspection. This paper mainly studies defect detection under a small training set, trying to reduce the dependence of the model on defect samples by using normal samples. Therefore, we propose a Knowledge-Embedding Relational Network. We propose a Knowledge-Embedding Relational Network (KRN): firstly, unsupervised clustering and convolution features are used to model the knowledge of normal samples; at the same time, based on CNN feature extraction assisted by image segmentation, the conv feature is obtained from the backbone network; then, we build the relationship between knowledge and prediction samples through covariance, embed the knowledge, further mine the correlation using gram operation, normalize the power of the high-order features obtained by covariance, and finally send them to the prediction network. Our KRN has three attractive characteristics: (I) Knowledge Modeling uses the unsupervised clustering algorithm to statistically model the standard samples so as to reduce the dependence of the model on defect data. (II) Covariance-based Knowledge Embedding and the Gram Operation capture the second-order statistics of knowledge features and predicted image features to deeply mine the robust correlation. (III) Power Normalizing suppresses the burstiness of covariance module learning and the complexity of the feature space. KRN outperformed several advanced baselines in small training sets on the DAGM 2007, KSDD, and Steel datasets.

Sweeping jet (SWJ) actuators have become a hot research topic in flow control due to their larger sweep range and higher control efficiency. However, the linear relationship between frequency and velocity ratio (VR = Ujet/U∞) in the SWJ actuator makes it challenging to determine the dominant factor affecting the control effect. Decoupling the frequency and VR and determining the control mechanism of the SWJ actuator is, therefore, a difficult task. In this study, a novel type of SWJ actuator was designed using periodic synthetic jets instead of feedback channels. This achieved the implementation of different frequencies under the same VR, effectively decoupling frequency and VR. The SWJ actuator was then applied in flow separation control of a Hump airfoil, with F+ = f × c/U∞ = 0.375, F+ = 1, and F+ = 10 being the three forcing frequencies studied. Numerical results demonstrated that all three forcing frequencies displayed a control effect on flow separation. At VR = 1.8, the control effectiveness is optimal for F+ = 1, and as VR continues to increase, F+ = 10 becomes the optimal control frequency.

The use of airships to launch space probes has been an effective means of conducting typhoon surveys in recent years, but the carrying area and weight of airships are very limited, so it is necessary to reduce the weight and volume of the release device as much as possible. This paper reports the first use of a probe with cylindrical and omnidirectional characteristics, as well as a four-arm spiral receiving antenna, which can also act as the downward release device of the inner wall and improve the space utilization rate. Through further analysis and improvement, it was determined that the four-armed helical antenna can be printed on the medium using a flexible material, which not only reduces the weight of the device but also avoids direct contact between the antenna and the sounding device and improves the stability of the antenna. The designed antenna was modeled and simulated using Ansys HFSS 2021 simulation software.The simulation results show that the antenna presented in this study achieves good performance at the center frequency of 403 MHz, the input voltage VSWR and return loss of the antenna are ideal, and the antenna has a good directional map.

In this study, nine concrete short columns and nine UHPC (ultra-high-performance concrete) short columns were produced, and an accelerated corrosion test method was used to compare and analyze the cracking phenomena and reinforcement corrosion after different durations of electrical current application. The analysis revealed that the corrosion rate of the UHPC specimens was approximately half of that of the concrete specimens, demonstrating excellent corrosion resistance. Although the corrosion rate of the UHPC specimen was lower, the length of the internal steel reinforcement decreased more significantly under prolonged electrification. For example, after 38 days of accelerated corrosion, the internal steel reinforcement in the ordinary concrete specimen measured 48 mm in length, while in the UHPC specimen, it measured only 43 mm. It was also found that the corrosion rates of both the concrete and UHPC specimens were significantly lower than the theoretical corrosion rate. This discrepancy is attributed to the fact that Faraday’s law, used to calculate the theoretical corrosion rate, does not fully account for factors such as the thickness of the protective layer and chloride ion concentration. The actual corrosion rate of the concrete specimens was generally only 70% of the theoretical value, while the UHPC specimens showed a corrosion rate which was only 40% of the theoretical value.

With the increasingly serious problems of energy shortage and environmental degradation, countries around the world are actively developing safe, environmentally friendly, and renewable energy. Biomass energy has become an ideal substitute for fossil fuels due to its abundant reserves, good renewable performance, and zero carbon emissions. This paper discusses the importance and potential of biomass energy as a renewable energy source for China’s energy development, mainly including the three biomass conversion methods of physics, chemistry, and biology, seven utilization technologies, such as direct combustion, gasification, and pyrolysis, and five application approaches, such as biomass power generation, biomass gas fuel, biomass liquid fuel, and bio-based materials. This review systematically analyzes the challenges faced by China’s development of biomass energy and discusses the future development direction of biomass. The utilization of biomass resources should take a comprehensive and high-value path. China is actively looking for new energy utilization paths, and biomass energy has become a key measure to cope with carbon emission reduction, climate change, and ecological environment protection.

Low-frequency pulsating ripples exist on the input side of a single-phase inverter, which bring some adverse effects and harm to the inverter and photovoltaic power generation system. In order to suppress the low-frequency pulsating ripple and reduce the filter circuit parameters, a novel single-stage boost single-phase inverter is proposed, which can suppress low-frequency ripple. And a three-closed-loop compound control strategy that can suppress input low-frequency ripples under the limitation of an energy storage inductor current and buffer capacitor voltage is proposed. The circuit topology, control strategy, key circuit parameters design, system modeling, and simulation of the inverters are deeply analyzed and studied. Simulation and experimental results show that the inverter has a good ability to suppress input low-frequency ripples.

Plants encounter numerous adversities during growth, necessitating the identification of common stress activators to bolster their resistance. However, the current understanding of these activators’ mechanisms remains limited. This study identified three anti-stress activators applicable to apple trees, all of which elevate plant proline content to enhance resistance against various adversities. The results showed that the application of these sugar substitutes increased apple proline content by two to three times compared to the untreated group. Even at a lower concentration, these activators triggered plant stress resistance without compromising apple fruit quality. Therefore, these three sugar substitutes can be exogenously sprayed on apple trees to augment proline content and fortify stress resistance. Given their effectiveness and low production cost, these activators possess significant application value. Since they have been widely used in the food industry, they hold potential for broader application in plants, fostering apple industry development.

5-Hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter widely distributed in mammalian tissues, exerting its effects through binding to various receptors. It plays a crucial role in the proliferation of granulosa cells (GCs) and the development of follicles in female animals, however, its effect on porcine follicle development is not clear. The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of 5-HT and its receptors in various parts of the pig ovary, as well as the effect of 5-HT on porcine follicular development by using ELISA, quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and EdU assays. Firstly, we examined the levels of 5-HT and its receptors in porcine ovaries, follicles, and GCs. The findings revealed that the expression of different 5-HT receptors varied among follicles of different sizes. To investigate the relationship between 5-HT and its receptors, we exposed the GCs to 5-HT and found a decrease in 5-HT receptor expression compared to the control group. Subsequently, the treatment of GCs with 0.5 μM, 5 μM, and 50 μM 5-HT showed an increase in the expression of cell cycle-related genes, and EdU results indicated cell proliferation after the 0.5 μM 5-HT treatment. Additionally, the expression of genes involved in E2 synthesis was examined after the treatment of granulosa cells with 0.5 μM 5-HT. The results showed that CYP19A1 and HSP17β1 expression was decreased. These results suggest that 5-HT might affect the development of porcine follicle by promoting the proliferation of GCs and inhibiting the synthesis of estrogen. This provides a new finding for exploring the effect of 5-HT on follicular development, and lays a foundation for further research on the mechanism of 5-HT in follicles.

Background: In recent years, the advancement of computational chemistry has offered new insights into the rational design of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). From this aspect, our study tried to give quantitative parameters for evaluating imprinting efficiency and exploring the formation mechanism of MIPs by combining simulation and experiments. Methods: The pre-polymerization system of sulfadimethoxine (SDM) was investigated using a combination of quantum chemical (QC) calculations and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. MIPs were prepared on the surface of silica gel by a surface-initiated supplemental activator and reducing agent atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-SARA ATRP). Results: The results of the QC calculations showed that carboxylic monomers exhibited higher bonding energies with template molecules than carboxylic ester monomers. MD simulations confirmed the hydrogen bonding sites predicted by QC calculations. Furthermore, it was observed that only two molecules of monomers could bind up to one molecule of SDM, even when the functional monomer ratio was up to 10. Two quantitative parameters, namely, the effective binding number (EBN) and the maximum hydrogen bond number (HBNMax), were defined. Higher values of EBN and HBNMax indicated a higher effective binding efficiency. Hydrogen bond occupancies and RDF analysis were performed to analyze the hydrogen bond formation between the template and the monomer from different perspectives. Furthermore, under the influence of the EBN and collision probability of the template and the monomers, the experimental results show that the optimal molar ratio of template to monomer is 1:3. Conclusions: The method of monomer screening presented in this study can be extended to future investigations of pre-polymerization systems involving different templates and monomers.

The microbial terroir is an indispensable part of the terroir panorama, and can improve wine quality with special characteristics. In this study, eight autochthonous yeasts (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), selected in Huailai country, China, were trailed in small-scale and pilot fermentations for both white (Riesling and Sémillon) and red (Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah) wines and evaluated by GC-MS analysis and the rate-all-that-apply (RATA) method. Compared to commercial yeast strains, the indigenous yeasts were able to produce higher concentrations of ethyl esters and fatty acid ethyl esters, and higher alcohol, resulting in higher odor activity values of fruity, floral attributes. Marked varietal effects were observed in the pilot fermentation, but yeast strains exerted a noticeable impact in modulating wine aroma and sensory profile. Overall, indigenous yeast could produce more preferred aroma compounds and sensory characteristics for both white and red wines, demonstrating the potential for improving wine quality and regional characteristics.

Traditional fermented foods are known to offer cardiovascular health benefits. However, the potential of fermented Chinese chives (FCC) in reducing coronary heart disease (CHD) remains unclear. This study employed anaerobic fermentation to investigate Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) P470 from FCC. The results indicated that L. plantarum P470 enhanced hydroxyl radical scavenging and exhibited anti-inflammatory effects on RAW264.7 macrophages in the fecal fermentation supernatant of CHD patients. These effects were attributed to the modulation of gut microbiota and metabolites, including short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). Specifically, L. plantarum P470 increased the abundance of Bacteroides and Lactobacillus while decreasing Escherichia-Shigella, Enterobacter, Veillonella, Eggerthella, and Helicobacter in CHD patient fecal samples. Furthermore, L. plantarum P470 regulated the biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids and linoleic acid metabolism. These findings suggest that L. plantarum P470 from FCC can improve the fecal physiological status in patients with CHD by modulating intestinal microbiota, promoting SCFA production, and regulating lipid metabolism.

The differences in sensor imaging mechanisms, observation angles, and scattering characteristics of terrestrial objects significantly limit the registration performance of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical heterologous images. Traditional methods particularly struggle in weak feature regions, such as harbors and islands with substantial water coverage, as well as in desolate areas like deserts. This paper introduces a robust heterologous image registration technique based on region-adaptive keypoint selection that integrates image texture features, targeting two pivotal aspects: feature point extraction and matching point screening. Initially, a dual threshold criterion based on block region information entropy and variance products effectively identifies weak feature regions. Subsequently, it constructs feature descriptors to generate similarity maps, combining histogram parameter skewness with non-maximum suppression (NMS) to enhance matching point accuracy. Extensive experiments have been conducted on conventional SAR-optical datasets and typical SAR-optical images with different weak feature regions to assess the method’s performance. The findings indicate that this method successfully removes outliers in weak feature regions and completes the registration task of SAR and optical images with weak feature regions.

Rayleigh lidar equipped on airborne floating platforms has received increasing attention in recent years due to the demand for exploring the middle atmosphere. However, the inevitable attitude fluctuation of the platform affects the measurement accuracy of the photon profile, which greatly affects temperature retrieval. Here, an extensive theoretical analysis model of geometrical transformations between the actual altitude and detection distance under attitude fluctuations was constructed by taking pitch, roll, and observation angles into consideration. Based on this model and measured attitude angles, the influence of platform fluctuation on lidar measurement was analyzed by calculating the deviations between temperature retrieval results and the NRLMSISE-00 model at different observation angles, which demonstrated that the altitude displacement from the variation of pitch angle is a crucial factor in causing temperature retrieval error, especially at large observation angles. Then, an attitude compensation method was designed to eliminate the impact of fluctuations, incorporating the merits of good robustness. Under the observation angle of 45° and average pitch angle of around 4°, the maximum temperature deviation after attitude compensation was reduced from 21.29 K to 0.366 K, a reduction of around two orders of magnitude, indicating that the method can significantly improve the measurement accuracy of Rayleigh lidar.

As one of the main sources of plant protein, it is important to improve the protein digestibility of legumes. Faced with population growth and increasing environmental pressures, it is essential to find a green approach. Germination meets this requirement, and in the process of natural growth, some enzymes are activated to make dynamic changes in the protein itself; at the same time, other substances (especially anti-nutrient factors) can also be degraded by enzymes or their properties (water solubility, etc.), thereby reducing the binding with protein, and finally improving the protein digestibility of beans under the combined influence of these factors The whole process is low-carbon, environmentally friendly and safe. Therefore, this paper summarizes this process to provide a reference for the subsequent development of soybean functional food, especially the germination of soybean functional food.

Fermented soybeans are popular among many for their rich soy sauce-like aroma. However, the precise composition of this aroma remains elusive, with key aroma compounds unidentified. In this study, we screened the candidate genes ilvA and serA in BJ3-2 based on previous multi-omics data, and we constructed three mutant strains, BJ3-2-ΔserA, BJ3-2-ΔilvA, and BJ3-2-ΔserAΔilvA, using homologous recombination to fermented soybeans with varying intensities of soy sauce-like aroma. Our objective was to analyze samples that exhibited different aroma intensities resulting from the fermented soybeans of BJ3-2 and its mutant strains, thereby exploring the key flavor compounds influencing soy sauce-like aroma as well analyzing the effects of ilvA and serA on soy sauce-like aroma. We employed quantitative descriptive sensory analysis (QDA), gas chromatography–olfactometry–mass spectrometry (GC-O-MS), relative odor activity value analysis (rOAV), principal component analysis (PCA), orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA), and partial least squares regression analysis (PLSR). QDA revealed the predominant soy sauce-like aroma profile of roasted and smoky aromas. GC-MS detected 99 volatile components, predominantly pyrazines and ketones, across the four samples, each showing varying concentrations. Based on rOAV (>1) and GC-O, 12 compounds emerged as primary contributors to soy sauce-like aroma. PCA and OPLS-DA were instrumental in discerning aroma differences among the samples, identifying five compounds with VIP > 1 as key marker compounds influencing soy sauce-like aroma intensity levels. Differential analyses of key aroma compounds indicated that the mutant strains of ilvA and serA affected soy sauce-like aroma mainly by affecting pyrazines. PLSR analysis indicated that roasted and smoky aromas were the two most important sensory attributes of soy sauce-like aroma, with pyrazines associated with roasted aroma and guaiacol associated with smoky aroma. In addition, substances positively correlated with the intensity of soy sauce-like aroma were verified by additional experiments. This study enhances our understanding of the characteristic flavor compounds in soy sauce-like aroma ferments, provides new perspectives for analyzing the molecular mechanisms of soy sauce-like aroma formation, and provides a theoretical framework for the targeted enhancement of soy sauce-like aroma in various foods.

The interface connects the reinforced phase and the matrix of materials, with its microstructure and interfacial configurations directly impacting the overall performance of composites. In this study, utilizing seven atomic layers of Mg(0001) and Ti(0001) surface slab models, four different Mg(0001)/Ti(0001) interfaces with varying atomic stacking configurations were constructed. The calculated interface adhesion energy and electronic bonding information of the Mg(0001)/Ti(0001) interface reveal that the HCP2 interface configuration exhibits the best stability. Moreover, Si, Ca, Sc, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Sn, La, Ce, Nd, and Gd elements are introduced into the Mg/Ti interface layer or interfacial sublayer of the HCP2 configurations, and their interfacial segregation behavior is investigated systematically. The results indicate that Gd atom doping in the Mg(0001)/Ti(0001) interface exhibits the smallest heat of segregation, with a value of −5.83 eV. However, Ca and La atom doping in the Mg(0001)/Ti(0001) interface show larger heat of segregation, with values of 0.84 and 0.63 eV, respectively. This implies that the Gd atom exhibits a higher propensity to segregate at the interface, whereas the Ca and La atoms are less inclined to segregate. Moreover, the electronic density is thoroughly analyzed to elucidate the interfacial segregation behavior. The research findings presented in this paper offer valuable guidance and insights for designing the composition of magnesium-based composites.

For semiconducting two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), the carrier transport properties of the material are affected by strain engineering. In this study, we investigate the carrier mobility of monolayer hafnium disulphide (HfS2) under different biaxial strains by first-principles calculations combined with the Kubo–Greenwood mobility approach and the compact band model. The decrease/increase in the effective mass of the conduction band (CB) of monolayer HfS2 caused by biaxial tensile/compressive strain is the major reason for the enhancement/degradation of its electron mobility. The lower hole effective mass of the valence bands (VB) in monolayer HfS2 under biaxial compressive strain improves its hole transport performance compared to that under biaxial tensile strain. In summary, biaxial compressive strain causes a decrease in both the effective mass and phonon scattering rate of monolayer HfS2, resulting in an increase in its carrier mobility. Under the biaxial compressive strain reaches 4%, the electron mobility enhancement ratio of the CB of monolayer HfS2 is ~90%. For the VB of monolayer HfS2, the maximum hole mobility enhancement ratio appears to be ~13% at a biaxial compressive strain of 4%. Our results indicate that the carrier transport performance of monolayer HfS2 can be greatly improved by strain engineering.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a prevalent food additive, yet comprehensive data on particle size and dietary exposure are lacking in China. Transmission electron microscopy results revealed that the quantitative proportion of nanoparticles (NPs) in food-additive TiO2 was 37.7%, with a mass fraction of 9.89%. Laboratory test results showed that among the domestic products surveyed, candies excluding gum-based candies contained the highest content of TiO2. Using consumption data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey in 2018, the average dietary exposure for TiO2 and TiO2 NPs in the Chinese population were calculated at 34.84 and 3.44 μg/kg bw/day, respectively. The primary dietary sources were puffed food and powdered drinks. Exposure varied significantly across age and region, with children and Inner Mongolia residents having the highest intake. TiO2 NP exposure showed a negative correlation with age. Despite this, the dietary exposure risk of TiO2 NPs for the Chinese population remains deemed acceptable.

Understanding and monitoring soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks is crucial for ecosystem carbon cycling, services, and addressing global environmental challenges. This study employs the BERTopic model and bibliometric trend analysis exploration to comprehensively analyze global SOC estimates. BERTopic, a topic modeling technique based on BERT (bidirectional encoder representatives from transformers), integrates recent advances in natural language processing. The research analyzed 1761 papers on SOC and remote sensing (RS), in addition to 490 related papers on machine learning (ML) techniques. BERTopic modeling identified nine research themes for SOC estimation using RS, emphasizing spectral prediction models, carbon cycle dynamics, and agricultural impacts on SOC. In contrast, for the literature on RS and ML it identified five thematic clusters: spatial forestry analysis, hyperspectral soil analysis, agricultural deep learning, the multitemporal imaging of farmland SOC, and RS platforms (Sentinel-2 and synthetic aperture radar, SAR). From 1991 to 2023, research on SOC estimation using RS and ML has evolved from basic mapping to topics like carbon sequestration and modeling with Sentinel-2A and big data. In summary, this study traces the historical growth and thematic evolution of SOC research, identifying synergies between RS and ML and focusing on SOC estimation with advanced ML techniques. These findings are critical to global ecosystem SOC assessments and environmental policy formulation.

When using transformer insulation oil as a liquid dielectric, the oil is easily polluted by the solid particles generated in the operation of the transformer, and these metallic impurity particles have a significant impact on the insulation performance inside the power transformer. The force of the metal particles suspended in the flow insulation oil is multidimensional, which will lead to a change in the movement characteristics of the metal particles. Based on this, this study explored the motion rules of suspended metallic impurity particles in mobile insulating oil in different electric field environments and the influencing factors. A multiphysical field model of the solid–liquid two-phase flow of single-particle metallic impurity particles in mobile insulating oil was constructed using the dynamic analysis method, and the particles’ motion characteristics in the oil in different electric field environments were simulated. The motion characteristics of metallic impurity particles under conditions of different particle sizes, oil flow velocities, and insulation oil qualities and influencing factors were analyzed to provide theoretical support for the detection of impurity particles in transformer insulation oil and enable accurate estimations of the location of equipment faults. Our results show that there are obvious differences in the trajectory of metallic impurity particles under different electric field distributions. The particles will move towards the region of high field intensity under an electric field, and the metallic impurity particles will not collide with the electrode under an AC field. When the electric field intensity and particle size increase, the trajectory of the metallic impurity particles between electrodes becomes denser, and the number of collisions between particles and electrodes and the motion speed both increase. Under the condition of a higher oil flow velocity, the number of collisions between metal particles and electrodes is reduced, which reduces the possibility of particle agglomeration. When the temperature of the insulation oil changes and the quality deteriorates, its dynamic viscosity changes. With a decrease in the dynamic viscosity of the insulation oil, the movement of the metallic impurity particles between the electrodes becomes denser, the collision times between the particles and electrodes increase, and the maximum motion speed of the particles increases.

The combination of the dark fiber in existing Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire (OPGW) with Distributed Optical Fiber Sensing (DOFS) technology can be used to enable online monitoring and provide early warnings of anomalies in high-voltage transmission lines. Accurate mapping of the optical cable length to the geographic coordinates of actual towers is a key factor in achieving this goal. This paper discusses the principle of using a DOFS system for transmission line tower positioning and presents four available positioning features. To overcome the limitations of single physical parameter positioning, this paper presents a self-developed hybrid DOFS that simultaneously captures Rayleigh backscattering and Brillouin scattering signals. Several physical parameters, including temperature, strain, and vibration, are acquired synchronously. Through hybrid multi-parameter analysis, the rapid and accurate positioning of OPGW line towers is achieved. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method, based on the hybrid DOFS system, can locate up to 82 towers, while the traditional method could only identify 12. The hybrid system was able to complete 80% of the tension towers in 40 h. This paper presents a novel multi-parameter localization method that has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of grid operation and maintenance.

This article presents a long-period fiber-grating sensor based on a congruent quasi-helical structure (CQH-LPFG) with the two-parameter measurement of both temperature and curvature. The CQH-LPFG sensor was manufactured using a high-frequency CO2 laser, and an innovative quasi-helical structure was introduced into the two-parameter measurement of the temperature and curvature of the optical fiber sensor with excellent results. The experiment and analysis demonstrate that the curvature sensitivities of the three resonance peaks in the 1440 nm to 1540 nm transmission spectrum were 11.88 nm/m−1, 8.05 nm/m−1, and 11.11 nm/m−1, and the curvature varied ranging from 0.156 m−1 to 0.494 m−1. The three resonance peaks showed temperature responsivities of 29.87 pm/°C, 24.65 pm/°C, and 36.85 pm/°C, respectively, and the linear fit was of excellent quality. In the case of measuring both curvature and temperature changes simultaneously, the resonant peak wavelength of the CQH-LPFG sensor was demodulated through matrix analysis, with dip A and dip C providing superior simultaneous measurements. These features make it a promising candidate for applications such as engineering machinery and the health inspection of buildings.

Recently, the world’s first plasma-propelled drone was successfully flown, demonstrating that plasma propulsion technology is suitable for drone flight. The research on plasma propulsion drones has sparked a surge of interest. This study utilized a proxy model and the NSGA-II multi-objective genetic algorithm to optimize the geometric parameters based on staggered thrusters that affect the performance of electroaerodynamics (EAD) thrusters used for solid-state plasma aircraft. This can help address key issues, such as the thrust density and the thrust-to-power ratio of solid-state plasma aircraft, promoting the widespread application of plasma propulsion drones. An appropriate sample set was established using Latin hypercube sampling, and the thrust and current data were collected using a customized experimental setup. The proxy model employed a genetically optimized Bayesian regularization backpropagation neural network, which was trained to predict the effects of variations in the geometric parameters of the electrode assembly on the performance parameters of the plasma aircraft. Based on this information, the maximum achievable value for a given performance parameter and its corresponding geometric parameters were determined, showing a significant increase compared to the sample data. Finally, the optimal parameter combination was determined by using the NSGA-II multi-objective genetic algorithm and the Analytic Hierarchy Process. These findings can serve as a basis for future researchers in the design of EAD thrusters, helping them produce plasma propulsion drones that better meet specific requirements.

Chlorophyll content is an important physiological indicator reflecting the growth status of crops. Traditional methods for obtaining crop chlorophyll content are time-consuming and labor-intensive. The rapid development of UAV remote sensing platforms offers new possibilities for monitoring chlorophyll content in field crops. To improve the efficiency and accuracy of monitoring chlorophyll content in maize canopies, this study collected RGB, multispectral (MS), and SPAD data from maize canopies at the jointing, tasseling, and grouting stages, constructing a dataset with fused features. We developed maize canopy chlorophyll content monitoring models based on four machine learning algorithms: BP neural network (BP), multilayer perceptron (MLP), support vector regression (SVR), and gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT). The results showed that, compared to single-feature methods, the MS and RGB fused feature method achieved higher monitoring accuracy, with R² values ranging from 0.808 to 0.896, RMSE values between 2.699 and 3.092, and NRMSE values between 10.36% and 12.26%. The SVR model combined with MS–RGB fused feature data outperformed the BP, MLP, and GBDT models in monitoring maize canopy chlorophyll content, achieving an R² of 0.896, an RMSE of 2.746, and an NRMSE of 10.36%. In summary, this study demonstrates that by using the MS–RGB fused feature method and the SVR model, the accuracy of chlorophyll content monitoring can be effectively improved. This approach reduces the need for traditional methods of measuring chlorophyll content in maize canopies and facilitates real-time management of maize crop nutrition.

Salinity stress can significantly impact productivity in agricultural area with limited water re-sources. Our study focused on how plants under salt stress respond to phosphorus availability in terms of growth and biochemical reactions in cotton genotypes. Two cotton genotypes with different P efficiencies (SK39 and JM21) were used in a hydroponic experiment with 300 mM NaCl and three P treatments (10, 20, and 30 mM). Salinity stress decreases root growth, shoot growth, biomass production, and chlorophyll content, according to the experimental findings. In treated plants, it also increased the levels of oxidative stress. However, this effect was alleviated by phosphorus therapy, which controlled the production of proline, total soluble sugars, and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Interestingly, salt-sensitive JM21 responded to phosphorus supplementation more favorably than salt-tolerant SK39. Our research emphasizes the critical role that phosphorus especially P20 plays increasing the salinity stress sensitivity of cotton plants and offers insightful in-formation on the mechanisms underlying the role of phosphorus in reducing salinity stress effects. This study also revealed interspecific variability in cotton genotypes and characteristics, primarily represented by attributes related to cotton growth and morphological indicators such as dry matter biomass.

Rising atmospheric CO2 levels, a significant consequence of anthropogenic activities, profoundly impact global agriculture and food security by altering plant physiological processes. Despite extensive research, a comprehensive understanding of the specific effects of elevated CO2 on maize (Zea mays L.)’s primary and secondary metabolism remains elusive. This study investigated the responses of maize seedlings cultivated in open-top chambers (OTCs) under three CO2 concentrations: ambient (380 ppm), elevated (600 ppm), and high (1800 ppm). Key growth parameters, including plant height, leaf area, and aboveground biomass (leaf and stem), were assessed alongside metabolic profiles encompassing nonstructural and structural carbohydrates, syringyl (S) and guaiacyl lignin, the syringyl-to-guaiacyl (S/G)-lignin ratio, photosynthetic pigments, total soluble protein, and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. The results demonstrated that exposure to 600 ppm CO2 significantly enhanced plant height, leaf area, and aboveground biomass compared to ambient conditions. Concurrently, there were notable increases in the concentrations of primary metabolites. In contrast, exposure to 1800 ppm CO2 severely inhibited these growth parameters and induced reductions in secondary metabolites, such as chlorophyll and soluble proteins, throughout the growth stages. The findings underscore the intricate responses of maize metabolism to varying CO2 levels, highlighting adaptive strategies in primary and secondary metabolism under changing atmospheric conditions. This research contributes to a nuanced understanding of maize’s physiological adaptations to future climate scenarios characterized by elevated CO2, with implications for sustainable agriculture and food security.

Providing an exercise paddock may improve the behavior and health of cows in their dry period. We compared a control group of cows in a shed with no exercise paddock and an experimental group in the same shed but with access to an exercise paddock. Both groups had ad libitum total mixed ration (TMR) indoors combined with access to a paddock (Group EX). The other group was just offered TMR indoors (Group IN). Total lying time was longer for cows without the exercise paddock (859 min/d) than for those with the paddock (733 min/d) (p = 0.012). Lying bouts were shorter, there were more allogrooming bouts, and drinking time was longer if an exercise paddock was provided. Cows with the paddock spent on average 76 min/d in paddock activity. Non-esterified fatty acids in the blood were increased by providing the exercise paddock. No significant differences in postpartum milk yield and calf weight of dry cows with or without access to exercise paddock were observed. However, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber digestibility were increased by providing the exercise paddock. The results suggest that providing an exercise paddock for cows in their dry period increased activity, including allogrooming, reduced lying, and improved digestibility of some major nutrients in the feed.

This study investigated the effects of dietary energy levels during late gestation on mineral content in the plasma, colostrum, and milk of jennies postpartum. Twenty-four pregnant multiparous DeZhou jennies, aged 6.0 ± 0.1 years, with a body weight of 292 ± 33 kg, an average parity number of 2.7 ± 0.1, and similar expected dates of confinement (74 ± 4 days), were randomly allocated to three groups and fed three diets: high energy (12.54 MJ/kg, HE), medium energy (12.03 MJ/kg, ME), and low energy (11.39 MJ/kg, LE). Blood samples were collected from the jugular vein of each jenny at time points of 0 h, 24 h, 48 h, 5 d, 7 d, and 14 d after parturition. Additionally, milk samples were collected through manual milking, and an analysis of the mineral content was conducted. The results showed that compared with HE, both ME and LE significantly increased the levels of calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), zinc (Zn), selenium (Se), molybdenum (Mo), and cobalt (Co) in the plasma and Ca, P, magnesium (Mg), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), Zn, selenium (Se), molybdenum (Mo), and Co in the milk of jennies postpartum (p < 0.05); ME also increased the levels of potassium (K), iron (Fe), and Mn in plasma and K and Fe in milk (p < 0.05). The levels of Ca, K, Mg, P, Fe, Cu, Mn, Co, Se, Zn, and Mo in plasma and milk gradually decreased with increasing postpartum time. Their contents were the highest at 0 h postpartum, rapidly decreased after 24 h postpartum, and declined to the lowest on day 14 postpartum. The interaction between dietary energy level and postpartum time showed that although the concentrations of the minerals Ca, P, K, Mg, Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn, Co, Se, and Mo decreased in jennies’ plasma and milk in the treatment groups with different energy levels as postpartum time increased, the pattern of change was also influenced by dietary energy level. The influence of dietary energy level in late gestation on the mineral content of milk and plasma during the postpartum colostrum phase was higher than that during the milk phase. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that, under the current experimental conditions, the mineral content of the colostrum, milk, and plasma of jennies after parturition was dependent on the dietary energy level during late gestation.

Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element known for its significant role in maintaining human health and mitigating disease progression. Selenium and its compounds exhibit high selective cytotoxicity against tumor cells. However, their anti-cervical cancer (CC) effects and underlying mechanisms have not been fully explored. This study found that sodium selenite (SS) inhibits the viability of HeLa and SiHa cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Intraperitoneal injection of 3 and 6 mg/kg SS for 14 days in female nude mice significantly inhibited the growth of HeLa cell xenografts without evident hepatotoxicity or nephrotoxicity. RNA sequencing results indicated that the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), Forkhead box protein O (FOXO), and apoptosis signaling pathways are key regulatory pathways in SS’s anti-CC effects, and SS’s inhibition of HeLa cell proliferation may be related to autophagy and ROS-induced apoptosis. Further research has revealed that SS induces cell autophagy and apoptosis through the AMPK/mTOR/FOXO3a pathway, characterized by the upregulation of p-AMPK/AMPK, FOXO3a, LC3-II, cleaved-caspase3, and cleaved-PARP and the downregulation of p-mTOR/mTOR and p62. Additionally, SS impaired mitochondrial function, including decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, mitochondrial Ca2+ overload, and accumulation of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS). Pretreatment with Mitoquinone mesylate (Mito Q) and compound C partially reversed SS-induced apoptosis, autophagy, and proliferation inhibition. Pretreatment with 3-methyladenine (3-MA) enhances SS-induced apoptosis and proliferation inhibition in HeLa cells but reverses these effects in SiHa cells. In summary, SS induces apoptosis, autophagy, and proliferation inhibition in HeLa and SiHa cells through the activation of the AMPK/mTOR/FOXO3a signaling pathway via mtROS. Autophagy activation may be a major risk factor for SS-induced apoptosis in SiHa cells but can protect HeLa cells from SS-induced apoptosis. These findings provide new evidence for understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying SS in potential new drug development for CC.

This study examines how different primary school campus layouts impact the wind environment and classroom ventilation in Xi’an, using simulations for winter and summer conditions. It evaluates four typical floorplans to find the best for outdoor wind quality and classroom ventilation. During winter, the outdoor wind speed at a height of 1.5 m remains below 5 m/s, adhering to the Green Building Evaluation Standard (GB/T50378-2019). Notably, Scenario 1 achieves higher wind speeds due to the canyon effect between buildings, facilitating effective air renewal. The wind speed amplification factors in all scenarios are within the permissible limit of 2, while Scenario 1 demonstrates superior outdoor wind performance. Wind pressure differences on building surfaces remain within the 5 Pa limit, with Scenario 3 exhibiting the lowest difference of 0.74 Pa, contributing to energy-efficient heating. In summer, Scenario 1 uniquely avoids vortex areas and windless zones, ensuring efficient airflow across the campus. Its open floor planning prevents the formation of stagnant air zones, in contrast to Scenarios 2, 3, and 4, which create enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces promoting vortex formation and windless areas. These findings underscore the benefits of Scenario 1’s design in optimizing both winter and summer wind environments for energy efficiency and occupant comfort. This study recommends including adequately sized spaces in zigzag, branched, or enclosed floor plans to provide airflow and prevent high wind speeds. These results are crucial for shaping upcoming architectural plans to improve the environmental quality of school grounds, leading to improved health and comfort for students and teachers.

Planetary gear transmission mechanisms (PGTMs) are widely used in mechanical transmission systems due to their compact structure and high transmission efficiency. To implement the reliability design and optimization of a PGTM, a novel multi-objective dynamic reliability optimization approach is proposed. First, a multi-objective reliability optimization model is established. Furthermore, considering the strength degradation of gears during service, a dynamic reliability analysis is conducted based on the theory of nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation. In addition, to improve computing efficiency, a random forest surrogate model based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed. Finally, an adaptive multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (AMOEA/D) is designed to optimize the mechanism, along with an adaptive neighborhood updating strategy and a hybrid crossover operator. The feasibility and superiority of the proposed approach are verified through an NGW planetary gear reducer. The results show that the proposed surrogate model can reduce the calculation cost and has high accuracy. The AMOEA/D algorithm can improve transmission efficiency, reduce gear volume and ensure reliability at the same time. It can provide guidance for actual gear production.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the common complications of diabetes and the main cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in clinical practice. Schisandrin A (Sch A) has multiple pharmacological activities, including inhibiting fibrosis, reducing apoptosis and oxidative stress, and regulating immunity, but its pharmacological mechanism for the treatment of DN is still unclear. In vivo, streptozotocin (STZ) and a high-fat diet were used to induce type 2 diabetic rats, and Sch A was administered for 4 weeks. At the same time, protein–protein interaction (PPI) networks were established to analyze the overlapping genes of DN and Sch A. Subsequently, the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) analyses were performed to determine the hub pathway. In addition, molecular docking was used to preliminarily verify the affinity of hub proteins and Sch A. Further, H&E staining, Sirius red staining, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and western blot analysis were used to detect the location and expression of related proteins in DN. This study revealed the multi-target and multi-pathway characteristics of Sch A in the treatment of DN. First, Sch A could effectively improve glucose tolerance, reduce urine microprotein and urine creatinine levels, and alleviate renal pathological damage in DN rats. Second, EGFR was the hub gene screened in overlapping genes (43) of Sch A (100) and DN (2524). Finally, it was revealed that Sch A could inhibit the protein expression levels of EGFR and PTRF and reduced the expression of apoptosis-related proteins, and this effect was related to the modulation of the AKT/GSK-3β signaling pathway. In summary, Sch A has a protective effect in DN rats, EGFR may be a potential therapeutic target, throughout modulating AKT/GSK-3β pathway.

The deteriorating thermal environment of tunnels and the increase in energy consumption of environmental control systems has become highlights in the subway field. In existing research related to analysis of subway tunnel thermal environments and thermal accumulation; there is no predictive law that accounts for thermal accumulation or the long-term change in subway tunnel thermal environments. In this study, a combination of simulations and experiments is used. First, the long-term evolution of tunnel thermal environments with and without thermal interference are predicted and analyzed. Then, the changes in the tunnel thermal environment after the use of capillary heat exchangers are explored. The research results indicate that the model of the system has high accuracy and reliability. When there is a capillary heat exchanger installed in the subway tunnel, the anti-seasonal heat storage characteristics of the system result in the tunnel temperature increasing significantly in summer and decreasing significantly in winter, with a small decrease in the average annual temperature. This study provides a theoretical reference for environment-based subway tunnel construction and the comprehensive utilization of tunnel waste heat.

This paper introduces a modular, assembled steel beam-column flange connection joint that efficiently connects prefabricated beams and columns using high-strength bolts. It enables the rapid repair of damaged joints after earthquakes by replacing flange connectors and high-strength bolt groups. Four joint specimens with varying thicknesses and lengths of the inner flange sleeve, scaled at a 1:2 ratio, were fabricated to evaluate performance. These specimens were subjected to low circumferential reciprocal loads to investigate damage modes, hysteresis curves, skeleton curves, ductility performance, energy dissipation capacity, and seismic performance, including stiffness degradation. The test and analysis results reveal that the primary failure mode is characterized by bulging of the flange jacket cover, with damage concentrated in the plastic hinge zone at the beam end. The flange connection joint exhibits excellent load-bearing, rotational, and energy dissipation capacities. The ‘secondary strengthening’ feature significantly enhances joint load-bearing capacity, ductility performance, and energy dissipation, increasing overall safety redundancy. Increasing the thickness and length of the flange connector substantially improves seismic performance and enlarges the plastic development area.

In the process of pharmaceutical crystallization, the automatic detection of crystal shapes in images is important since controlling the morphology of the crystals improves the quality of pharmaceutical crystals. In this paper, a novel image detection method called RECDet is proposed. It leverages an automatically adapted binary image to bypass background regions, thereby reducing the detection field. In addition, the method greatly reduces the training time while improving the detection accuracy by using a specially designed detection box for the crystal shape. The performance of our model is evaluated through experimental analysis on a publicly available glutamate crystal dataset and a self-made entecavir pharmaceutical crystal dataset. Experimental results show that RECDet improves the accuracy of prediction bounding boxes by more than 2% compared to other popular models and achieves a classification accuracy of 98%. It can be used as a promising tool in the application of pharmaceutical crystallization control.

Sepsis is recognized as a syndrome of systemic inflammatory reaction induced by dysregulation of the body’s immunity against infection. The multiple organ dysfunction associated with sepsis is a serious threat to the patient’s life. Endothelial cell dysfunction has been extensively studied in sepsis. However, the role of macrophages in sepsis is not well understood and the intrinsic link between the two cells has not been elucidated. Macrophages are first-line cells of the immune response, whereas endothelial cells are a class of cells that are highly altered in function and morphology. In sepsis, various cytokines secreted by macrophages and endothelial cell dysfunction are inextricably linked. Therefore, investigating how macrophages affect endothelial cells could offer a theoretical foundation for the treatment of sepsis. This review links molecules (TNF-α, CCL2, ROS, VEGF, MMP-9, and NO) secreted by macrophages under inflammatory conditions to endothelial cell dysfunction (adhesion, permeability, and coagulability), refining the pathophysiologic mechanisms of sepsis. At the same time, multiple approaches (a variety of miRNA and medicines) regulating macrophage polarization are also summarized, providing new insights into reversing endothelial cell dysfunction and improving the outcome of sepsis treatment.

Purpose: This study aims to explore the potential mechanisms of esculin in the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Methods: We employed network pharmacology to predict the potential mechanisms and targets of esculin in RCC. Molecular docking techniques were then employed to validate the predicted targets. Additionally, a series of in vitro experiments were conducted to verify the anticancer effects of esculin on RCC cells, including the CCK-8 assay, EdU assay, wound healing assay, apoptosis assay, and Western blot. Results: Network pharmacology and molecular docking results identified GAPDH, TNF, GSK3B, CCND1, MCL1, IL2, and CDK2 as core targets. GO and KEGG analyses suggested that esculin may influence apoptotic processes and target the PI3K/Akt pathway in RCC. Furthermore, the CCK-8 assay demonstrated that esculin inhibited RCC cell viability. Microscopic observations revealed that following esculin treatment, there was an increase in cell crumpling, a reduction in cell density, and an accumulation of floating dead cells. Additionally, with increasing esculin concentrations, the proportion of EdU-positive cells decreased, the wound closure ratio decreased, the proportion of PI-positive cells increased, the expression levels of BAX and cleaved-caspase-3 proteins increased, and the expression level of Bcl2 protein decreased. These findings suggested that esculin inhibits the proliferation and migration of RCC cells while promoting apoptosis. Moreover, esculin was found to target GAPDH and inhibit the PI3K/Akt pathway. Conclusions: This study is the first to elucidate the therapeutic effects of esculin on RCC cells. The results provide evidence supporting the clinical application of esculin and introduce a promising new candidate for RCC treatment.

We reported palladium-catalyzed regioselective [3+2] cycloadditions of α,β-unsaturated imines with vinylethylene carbonates, providing the desired oxazolidines in moderate-to-high yields. This reaction provides a facile route for the highly regioselective synthesis of functional oxazolidines. The synthetic utility of the current method was also demonstrated by a gram-scale reaction.

The performance of heat exchangers in the pressurized water test loop is a critical factor in ensuring the achievement of irradiation parameters for fuel assemblies and the safety of experimental operations. The effect of the heat exchange area margin on the heat exchangers in the pressurized water test loop for the fuel assembly during the steady-state irradiation is analyzed. Additionally, optimization methods for determining the margin of heat exchange area and corresponding design strategies are further investigated. It shows that the effect of the heat exchange area margin on the heat exchange power is less affected by the inlet temperature of the primary water and is primarily influenced by the flow rate of the primary water. A decrease in the flow rate of the primary water reduces the compensatory effect of the cooling section on power and enhances the weakening effect of the regeneration section on power. Meanwhile, the correspondence between the margin of the regeneration section and the cooling section, established based on design conditions, can be applicable when there are changes in the inlet temperature of the primary water, but it is not suitable when there are changes in the flow rate of the primary water. When the flow rate of the primary water decreases, the cooling section margin required to compensate for the decrease in power caused by the regeneration section margin will increase significantly. In addition, short-circuiting the heat exchange tubes in the regeneration section can effectively enhance the heat transfer capability. Furthermore, setting the heat exchange area margins of the regeneration and cooling sections to zero can serve as a termination condition for iterative calculations in the verification of regenerative heat exchangers under off-design conditions.

The rapid expansion of reservoir fractures and the enlargement of the area affected by working fluids can be accomplished solely through fracturing operations of oilfield working fluids in geological reservoirs. Supercritical CO2 is regarded as an ideal medium for shale reservoir fracturing owing to the inherent advantages of environmental friendliness, excellent capacity, and high stability. However, CO2 gas channeling and complex propagation of fractures in shale reservoirs hindered the commercialization of Supercritical CO2 fracturing technology. Herein, a simulation method for Supercritical CO2 fracturing based on cohesive force units is proposed to investigate the crack propagation behavior of CO2 fracturing technology under different construction parameters. Furthermore, the shale fracture propagation mechanism of Supercritical CO2 fracturing fluid is elucidated. The results indicated that the propagation ability of reservoir fractures and Mises stress are influenced by the fracturing fluid viscosity, fracturing azimuth angle, and reservoir conditions (temperature and pressure). An azimuth angle of 30° can achieve a maximum Mises stress of 3.213 × 107 Pa and a crack width of 1.669 × 10−2 m. However, an apparent viscosity of 14 × 10−6 Pa·s results in a crack width of only 2.227 × 10−2 m and a maximum Mises stress of 4.459 × 107 Pa. Additionally, a weaker fracture propagation ability and reduced Mises stress are exhibited at the fracturing fluid injection rate. As a straightforward model to synergistically investigate the fracture propagation behavior of shale reservoirs, this work provides new insights and strategies for the efficient extraction of shale reservoirs.

The frequent occurrence of the pantograph–catenary (PC) arc seriously threatens the safe and stable operation of electric multiple units (EMUs). In order to investigate the primary factors affecting the electrical characteristics of the PC arc, this paper first reveals the mechanism of arc generation when EMUs leave the split-zone insulator according to the actual mechanical structure of the PC articulated split-zone insulator. Then, based on the Habedank black box arc model, considering the dynamic changes in arc length during the actual operation of EMUs, a numerical simulation model suitable for describing the PC articulated split-zone insulator arc is established. Furthermore, by comparing with existing research results, the effectiveness of the proposed model is verified. Next, a series of simulation experiments were conducted to analyze the influence of different operating parameters of the EMUs on the electrical characteristics of the PC arc. More importantly, the paper proposes using the entropy weight method to calculate the impact strength of different operating parameters of the EMUs on the arc duration time of the contact wire split-zone region. The research results of this paper can provide some technical references for reducing the erosion of the PC contact wire and slide caused by arcs when the EMUs pass through the split-zone insulator.

Studying the electromechanical response behavior of piezoelectric thin films under different loading conditions is of great value for the development and optimization of piezoelectric sensors and flexible portable electronic devices. This paper establishes the theory of large deflection vibration of rectangular four-edge simply supported piezoelectric thin films using the energy method, and analyzes the electromechanical response characteristics of vibration force (including resonant frequency and nonlinear vibration). Meanwhile, the electromechanical response behavior of Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) films under different loading conditions (static and harmonic vibration) is analyzed. The study investigates the nonlinear vibration characteristics and resonance frequency variations under different film sizes and thickness conditions in the case of various loading conditions. The developed model can predict the resonance frequency associated with the plate dimensions. This study is of great significance for the research and application of laminated piezoelectric film sensors.

Collichthys lucidus is an important small-scale economic fish species in the Yangtze River Estuary. To improve the accuracy of acoustic stock assessments for C. lucidus, it is necessary to accurately measure its target strength (TS). This study obtained precise morphological parameters of C. lucidus through X-ray scanning and established a Kirchhoff ray mode (KRM) model to simulate the changes in TS of the fish body and swimbladder at different acoustic frequencies and pitch angles. At the same time, the TS was measured using the tethered method to analyze and compare the broadband scattering characteristics obtained from both methods. An empirical formula of C. lucidus relating TS to body length at two conventional frequencies was established using the least squares method. The results show that the C. lucidus TS changes, with body length ranging from 10.91 to 16.61 cm, are significantly influenced by the pitch angle at 70 kHz and 200 kHz frequencies, and the fluctuation of TS for both the fish body and swimbladder increases with the rise in frequency. The broadband TS values estimated by the KRM model and measured by the tethered method fluctuate within in the ranges from −45 dB to −55 dB and −40 dB to −55 dB, respectively. The TS of C. lucidus tends to increase with the increase in swimbladder length. When the probability density function of the pitch angle is N(−5°, 15°), the b20 measured by the KRM and the tethered method at 70 kHz are −71.94 dB and −69.21 dB, respectively, while at 200 kHz they are −72.58 dB and −70.55 dB. This study provides a scientific basis for future acoustic target discrimination and stock assessment of C. lucidus in the Yangtze River Estuary.

The use of mobile robots in substations improves maintenance efficiency and ensures the personal safety of staff working at substations, which is a trend in the development of technologies. Strong electric and solid magnetic fields around high-voltage equipment in substations may lead to the breakdown and failure of inspection devices. Therefore, safe operation range measurement and coordinated planning are key factors in ensuring the safe operation of substations. This paper first summarizes the current developments that are occurring in the field of fixed and mobile safe operating range sensing methods for substations, such as ultra-wideband technology, the two-way time flight method, and deep learning image processing algorithms. Secondly, this paper introduces path-planning algorithms based on safety range sensing and analyzes the adaptability of global search methods based on a priori information, local planning algorithms, and sensor information in substation scenarios. Finally, in view of the limitations of the existing range awareness and path-planning methods, we investigate the problems that occur in the dynamic changes in equipment safety zones and the frequent switching of operation scenarios in substations. Furthermore, we explore a new type of barrier and its automatic arrangement system to improve the performance of distance control and path planning in substation scenarios.

In order to reduce carbon emissions from the power grid, photovoltaic (PV) generation units and controllable nonlinear loads based on power electronic devices are gradually becoming more prevalent in the power system. In a PV grid-connected system featuring controllable nonlinear loads, the interplay among PV grid-connected inverters, the loads, and the grid can potentially lead to voltage oscillations. To tackle this challenge, this paper introduces an optimization-based method for suppressing oscillations, which carefully balances system stability with response performance. Firstly, an impedance model of the system is established by applying the harmonic linearization method, and system stability is analyzed using the “logarithmic frequency stability criterion”. Subsequently, impedance relative sensitivity is used to identify key parameters that affect system stability, and the interaction between key parameters is considered to analyze the stability range for these parameters. On this basis, a parameter optimization method based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed to balance system stability and response performance. The effectiveness and robustness of this method are verified through a simulation analysis.

Target strength (TS) is an acoustic property of individual marine organisms and a critical factor in acoustic resource assessments. However, previous studies have primarily focused on measuring TS at narrowband, typical frequencies, which cannot meet the requirements of broadband acoustic technology research. Additionally, for marine fish, conducting in situ TS measurements is challenging due to environmental constraints. Rapidly freezing and preserving fish samples for transfer to the laboratory is a common method currently used. However, the impact of freezing preservation during transportation on the swimbladder morphology and TS of swimbladder-bearing fish remains unclear. This study investigated the differences in swimbladder morphology and TS of Chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus) before and after freezing. Then, we compared different TS measurement methods through ex situ TS measurements (45–90 kHz, 160–260 kHz) and the Kirchhoff-ray mode model (KRM) simulations (1–300 kHz) and studied the broadband scattering characteristics of Chub mackerel based on the KRM model. The results showed that the morphology of the swimbladder was reduced after freezing, with significant changes in swimbladder height and volume. However, the trends of TS were not consistent and the changes were small. The difference between the KRM model and ex situ measurements was −0.38 ± 1.84 dB, indicating good applicability of the KRM. Based on the KRM results, the TS exhibited significant directivity, with fluctuations gradually decreasing and stabilizing as frequency increased. In the broadband mode, the relationship between TS and body length (L) of Chub mackerel was TS = 20log(L) − 66.76 (30 > L/λ >10). This study could provide a reference for acoustic resource estimation and species identification of Chub mackerel in the Northwest Pacific Ocean.

Strawberries are a commonly used agricultural product in the food industry. In the traditional production model, labor costs are high, and extensive picking techniques can result in food safety issues, like poor taste and fruit rot. In response to the existing challenges of low detection accuracy and slow detection speed in the assessment of strawberry fruit maturity in orchards, a CR-YOLOv9 multi-stage method for strawberry fruit maturity detection was introduced. The composite thinning network, CRNet, is utilized for target fusion, employing multi-branch blocks to enhance images by restoring high-frequency details. To address the issue of low computational efficiency in the multi-head self-attention (MHSA) model due to redundant attention heads, the design concept of CGA is introduced. This concept aligns input feature grouping with the number of attention heads, offering the distinct segmentation of complete features for each attention head, thereby reducing computational redundancy. A hybrid operator, ACmix, is proposed to enhance the efficiency of image classification and target detection. Additionally, the Inner-IoU concept, in conjunction with Shape-IoU, is introduced to replace the original loss function, thereby enhancing the accuracy of detecting small targets in complex scenes. The experimental results demonstrate that CR-YOLOv9 achieves a precision rate of 97.52%, a recall rate of 95.34%, and an mAP@50 of 97.95%. These values are notably higher than those of YOLOv9 by 4.2%, 5.07%, and 3.34%. Furthermore, the detection speed of CR-YOLOv9 is 84, making it suitable for the real-time detection of strawberry ripeness in orchards. The results demonstrate that the CR-YOLOv9 algorithm discussed in this study exhibits high detection accuracy and rapid detection speed. This enables more efficient and automated strawberry picking, meeting the public’s requirements for food safety.
