14. Promoted Disappearance of CO2 Hydrate Self-Preservation Effect by Surfactant SDS

Abstract

Capture, storage and utilization of CO2 gas through the hydrate technology is deemed as a promising approach to solve the problem on global warming. After efficient transportation of CO2 gas with the self-preservation effect of hydrate, the dissociations of hydrate are required in some practical scenarios. In order to investigate the initial dissociation properties of hydrates while the self-preservation effect was removed, CO2 hydrates were formed in different experimental conditions and media and then frozen. After that, the self-preservation effect of hydrates was slowly removed through a uniform heating method. The measurement results exhibit that comparing with the pure water (PW), the initial dissociation temperatures (IDT) are significantly lowered by the silica gel powder (SG) and sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) solution (SS). Similarly, the initial dissociation rates (IDR) of hydrates are also reduced. These patterns are opposite to the traditional elucidating mechanism of the self-preservation effect of hydrate. Hence, the theory of ice shell was supplemented furthermore. In addition, it is found that the final duration time of the entire dissociation process of hydrate after losing the preservation effect presents obvious dependence on the initial dissociation rate (IDR). These findings are expected to provide some references for the future transportation of CO2 gas with the self-preservation effect of hydrate.

Abstract

Based on wind lidar, a novel yaw control scheme was designed that utilizes forecast wind information. The new scheme can reduce the power loss caused by the lag of accurate measurement data in the traditional yaw control strategy. A theoretical analysis of the power loss caused by the traditional wind measurement inherent error and the wind direction based traditional yaw control strategy was conducted. The yaw angle error and yaw stop/start frequency in an actual wind field were statistically analyzed, and a novel Long Short Term-Neural Network (LSTM-NN) yaw control strategy based on wind lidar information was proposed. An accurate forecast of the wind direction could reduce the power loss caused by the inherent yaw misalignment, while an accurate forecast of wind speed could increase the stop/start frequency in the medium speed section within the partial load range and reduce the frequency in the low speed section within the partial load range. Thus, the power captured could be increased by 3.5% under certain wind conditions without increasing the yaw duty. Based on a simple wind evolution model and a novel yaw control strategy, the validity of the yaw control strategy was verified in a FAST/Simulink simulation model.

23. Defect-Rich Heterogeneous MoS 2 /rGO/NiS Nanocomposite for Efficient pH-Universal Hydrogen Evolution.

Abstract

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) has been universally demonstrated to be an effective electrocatalytic catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, the low conductivity, few active sites and poor stability of MoS 2 -based electrocatalysts hinder its hydrogen evolution performance in a wide pH range. The introduction of other metal phases and carbon materials can create rich interfaces and defects to enhance the activity and stability of the catalyst. Herein, a new defect-rich heterogeneous ternary nanocomposite consisted of MoS 2 , NiS and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) are synthesized using ultrathin αNi(OH) 2 nanowires as the nickel source. The MoS 2 /rGO/NiS-5 of optimal formulation in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 , 1.0 M KOH and 1.0 M PBS only requires 152, 169 and 209 mV of overpotential to achieve a current density of 10 mA cm -2 (denoted as η 10 ), respectively. The excellent HER performance of the MoS 2 /rGO/NiS-5 electrocatalyst can be ascribed to the synergistic effect of abundant heterogeneous interfaces in MoS 2 /rGO/NiS, expanded interlayer spacings, and the addition of high conductivity graphene oxide. The method reported here can provide a new idea for catalyst with Ni-Mo heterojunction, pH-universal and inexpensive hydrogen evolution reaction electrocatalyst.
