Feature selection (FS) is a classic and challenging optimization task in most machine learning and data mining projects. Recently, researchers have attempted to develop more effective methods by using metaheuristic methods in FS. To increase population diversity and further improve the effectiveness of the beluga whale optimization (BWO) algorithm, in this paper, we propose a multi-strategies improved BWO (MSBWO), which incorporates improved circle mapping and dynamic opposition-based learning (ICMDOBL) population initialization as well as elite pool (EP), step-adaptive Lévy flight and spiral updating position (SLFSUP), and golden sine algorithm (Gold-SA) strategies. Among them, ICMDOBL contributes to increasing the diversity during the search process and reducing the risk of falling into local optima. The EP technique also enhances the algorithm′s ability to escape from local optima. The SLFSUP, which is distinguished from the original BWO, aims to increase the rigor and accuracy of the development of local spaces. Gold-SA is introduced to improve the quality of the solutions. The hybrid performance of MSBWO was evaluated comprehensively on IEEE CEC2005 test functions, including a qualitative analysis and comparisons with other conventional methods as well as state-of-the-art (SOTA) metaheuristic approaches that were introduced in 2024. The results demonstrate that MSBWO is superior to other algorithms in terms of accuracy and maintains a better balance between exploration and exploitation. Moreover, according to the proposed continuous MSBWO, the binary MSBWO variant (BMSBWO) and other binary optimizers obtained by the mapping function were evaluated on ten UCI datasets with a random forest (RF) classifier. Consequently, BMSBWO has proven very competitive in terms of classification precision and feature reduction.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is an essential metabolite that plays a crucial role in diverse biological processes, including energy metabolism, gene expression, DNA repair, and mitochondrial function. An aberrant NAD+ level mediates the development of cardiovascular dysfunction and diseases. Both in vivo and in vitro studies have demonstrated that nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), as a NAD+ precursor, alleviates the development of cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, atherosclerosis, and myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury. Importantly, NMN has suggested pharmacological activities mostly through its involvement in NAD+ biosynthesis. Several clinical studies have been conducted to investigate the efficacy and safety of NMN supplementation, indicating its potential role in cardiovascular protection without significant adverse effects. In this review, we systematically summarize the impact of NMN as a nutraceutical and potential therapeutic drug on cardiovascular diseases and emphasize the correlation between NMN supplementation and cardiovascular protection.

Power system control is commonly based on linear controllers, where linear controllers are designed using a linearized model of the system at a specific operating point. However, when the system’s operating point is changed, the dynamic characteristics of the system shift significantly. At this point, linear controllers often fail to meet system stability requirements. Furthermore, the range of state variables in the power system is limited by the objective conditions. In addition, the power system has high-precision constraints on the deviation of the load frequency and so on. Therefore, it is worth designing a finite-time controller that satisfies the prescribed performance and full-state constraints based on the nonlinear model of the power systems. Firstly, the prescribed performance is incorporated into the barrier Lyapunov function to ensure that the tracking error is within the desired accuracy. Then, the tracking strategy is designed based on backstepping and incorporating a first-order filter to ensure that the controlled system’s signals and tracking errors remain bounded in finite time. Finally, two simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, confirming that all states keep within the predefined range.

Smoke is an obvious sign of pre-fire. However, due to its variable morphology, the existing schemes are difficult to extract precise smoke characteristics, which seriously affects the practical applications. Therefore, we propose a lightweight cross-layer smoke-aware network (CLSANet) of only 2.38 M. To enhance the information exchange and ensure accurate feature extraction, three cross-layer connection strategies with bias are applied to the CLSANet. First, a spatial perception module (SPM) is designed to transfer spatial information from the shallow layer to the high layer, so that the valuable texture details can be complemented in the deeper levels. Furthermore, we propose a texture federation module (TFM) in the final encoding phase based on fully connected attention (FCA) and spatial texture attention (STA). Both FCA and STA structures implement cross-layer connections to further repair the missing spatial information of smoke. Finally, a feature self-collaboration head (FSCHead) is devised. The localization and classification tasks are decoupled and explicitly deployed on different layers. As a result, CLSANet effectively removes redundancy and preserves meaningful smoke features in a concise way. It obtains the precision of 94.4% and 73.3% on USTC-RF and XJTU-RS databases, respectively. Extensive experiments are conducted and the results demonstrate that CLSANet has a competitive performance.

In this paper, quantitative two-dimensional (2-D) phase-field simulations were performed to gain insight into the effects of B and Nb for Al-Ti-Nb balanced-ratio GH4742 alloys. The microstructure evolution during the precipitation process was simulated using the MICRESS (MICRostructure Evolution Simulation Software) package developed in the formalism of the multi-phase field model. The coupling to CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagram) thermodynamic databases was realized via the TQ interface. The morphological evolution, concentration distribution, and thermodynamic properties were extensively analyzed. It is indicated that a higher Nb content contributes to a faster precipitation rate and higher amounts and the smaller precipitate size of the γ′ phase, contributing to better mechanical properties. The segregation of the W element in γ′ precipitate due to its sluggish diffusion effect has also been observed. Higher temperatures and lower B contents accelerate the dissolution of boride and reduce the precipitation of borides. With the increased addition of B, the formation of borides may have a pinning effect on the grain boundary to hinder the kinetic process. In addition, borides are prone to precipitate around the interface rather than in the bulk phase. Once the M3B2 borides nucleate, they grow in the consumption of γ′ phases.

The investigation of genetics-based biopesticides has become a central focus in pesticide studies due to their inherent advantages, including species specificity, environmental safety, and a wide range of target genes. In this study, a mixture of miR-184 agomir and nanomaterial star polycation (SPc) was used to treat the nymphs of the English grain aphid, Sitobion avenae (F.). The life parameters of the aphids at various developmental stages were analyzed using an age–stage two-sex life table to assess the effect of miR-184 agomir on the experimental population. The results indicated that miR-184 agomir had a significant negative effect on four key life parameters, including the intrinsic rate of increase, the finite rate of increase, the net rate of increase, and the mean generation time. The population prediction revealed a substantial reduction (91.81% and 95.88%) in the population size of S. avenae at 60 d after treatment with miR-184 agomir, compared to the control groups. Our findings suggest that the miR-184 agomir has the potential to reduce the survival rate and mean longevity of S. avenae, highlighting its potential as a promising candidate for the development of an effective genetics-based biopesticide.

Ecological quality in China has experienced significant improvements due to the interplay of climate change and human activities. Nevertheless, previous studies exploring the trend of ecological parameters have always overlooked the effects of land use types. Therefore, in this study, we explored the spatiotemporal variation in ecological parameters in various land use types and discussed the relationship between ecological parameters and climatic factors in China during the first 20 years of the 21st century. The results show that: (1) The area of grassland and unutilized land decreased, and the area of other land use types increased. (2) Distinct variations in the average, slope, and interval distribution of ecological parameters across various land use types were evident. Particularly significant increases in ecological parameters were observed in cultivated land and forest. (3) The influence of land use and land cover change on ecological parameters was evident. The conversion of cultivated land, forest, and grassland into water bodies, constructive land, and unutilized land resulted in a significant decrease in ecological parameters. (4) The distinct climatic conditions resulted in heightened monthly variations in the ecological parameters. Significant monthly fluctuations in ecological parameters were observed for cultivated land, forest, grassland, and constructed land, while water bodies and unutilized land did not exhibit such variations. (5) The correlation between ecological parameters and climatic factors varied considerably in various land use types in different regions.

The variation in key parameters of the solar–terrestrial space during two consecutive auroral disturbances (the magnetic storm index, Dst index = −422 nT) that occurred during the 18–23 November 2003 period was analyzed in this paper, as well as the spatiotemporal characteristics of NO 5.3 μm radiation with an altitude around the location of 55°N 160°W. The altitude was divided into four regions (50–100 km, 100–150 km, 150–200 km, and 200–250 km), and it was found that the greatest amplification occurs at the altitude of 200–250 km. However, the radiance reached a maximum of 3.38 × 10−3 W/m2/sr at the altitude of 123 km during the aurora event, which was approximately 10 times higher than the usual value during “quiet periods”. Based on these findings, the spatiotemporal variations in NO 5.3 μm radiance within the range of latitude 51°S–83°N and longitude of 60°W–160°W were analyzed at 120 km, revealing an asymmetry between the northern and southern hemispheres during the recovery period. Additionally, the recovery was also influenced by the superposition of a second auroral event. The data used in this study were obtained from the OMNI database and the SABER (Sounding of the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry) infrared radiometer onboard the TIMED (Thermosphere-Ionosphere-Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics) satellite. Finally, the correlation of NO 5.3 μm radiance at 120 km with temperature, solar wind speed, auroral electrojet index (AE index), and Dst index were analyzed. It was found that only the Dst index had a good correlation with the radiance value. Furthermore, the correlation between the Dst index and radiance at different altitudes was also analyzed, and the highest correlation was found at 170 km.

A regional aerosol model can complement globally averaged models and improve the accuracy of atmospheric numerical models in local applications. This study established a seasonal aerosol model based on data from the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) of the sea area around eastern China, and its performance in calculating the aerosol optical depth (AOD) was evaluated. The seasonal columnar volume particle size distributions (VPSDs) illustrated a bimodal structure consisting of fine and coarse modes. The VPSDs of spring, autumn, and winter roughly agreed with each other, with their amplitudes of fine and coarse modes being almost equal; however, the fine mode of the summer VPSD was approximately twice as high as that of the coarse mode. Lognormal mode decomposition analysis revealed that fine and coarse modes comprised two sub-modes. Fitting the seasonal VPSDs to the four-mode lognormal distribution yielded a parameterized aerosol size distribution model. Furthermore, seasonal variations in complex refractive indices (CRIs) indicated unignorable changes in aerosol compositions. Overall, error analysis validated that the proposed model could meet accuracy requirements for optical engineering applications, with median AOD calculation errors of less than 0.01.

In the marine environment, sea salt aerosol particles transition from cubic or rectangular shapes when dry to various non-spherical shapes like ellipsoids and cylinders under different humidities. The complex humidity conditions and particle morphologies pose challenges to simulating the optical scattering properties of non-spherical sea salt aerosols. This study, addressing real environmental scenarios, employs the randomly oriented T-matrix computational method to calculate the optical scattering and polarization characteristics of sea salt aerosols at a wavelength of 1.06 μm under three relative humidity conditions (50%, 80%, and 95%) and three particle morphologies (spheroid, circular cylinder, and Chebyshev particle shapes). The results show the following: (1) In terms of optical scattering properties, the greater the non-sphericity of particles under the same humidity conditions, the larger the deviation between non-spherical and spherical models. For spheroid and circular cylinder sea salt aerosols, the error in the extinction efficiency factor mainly lies within 10–30%, reaching up to 120%; the error in the asymmetry factor is primarily between 3 and 25%, with a maximum of 75%, and the error in the forward-scattering phase function is mainly within 10–60%, reaching up to 180%. Chebyshev particle-shaped sea salt aerosols exhibit smaller deviations in optical scattering properties compared to equivalent spherical models, generally within the 5–25% range. Under different humidity conditions, the scattering characteristic parameters of sea salt aerosol particles for various non-spherical models show a positive correlation with relative humidity. When relative humidity is below 70%, the optical scattering properties of differently shaped sea salt aerosols are less affected by relative humidity. Above 70% relative humidity, the optical scattering properties of sea salt aerosols of different shapes become more sensitive to changes in relative humidity. (2) Regarding polarization properties, the greater the humidity, the more significant the impact on polarization properties, and as humidity increases, sea salt aerosols with higher non-sphericity exhibit more complex changes in polarization characteristics. The differences in shapes of non-spherical models mainly affect the numerical values of polarization properties. Under the same humidity conditions, spheroid polarization characteristics are significantly different from other models. In terms of depolarization ratio for aerosols, circular cylinder sea salt aerosols show the highest depolarization ratio at various relative humidities, followed by spheroid, with Chebyshev-shaped having the least. The effect of relative humidity on the depolarization ratio varies with the scattering angle. The higher the relative humidity, the more complex the variation in the depolarization ratio with scattering angle, with more pronounced oscillations in the curve, and the less non-spherical the shape, the more intense the oscillations in the depolarization ratio curve due to humidity. In conclusion, this study calculated the optical scattering and polarization properties of sea salt aerosol particles under different relative humidities and shapes, which is of significant importance for applications like 1.06 μm laser engineering and atmospheric radiation transmission in actual marine scenarios.

This paper proposes a derivative-variance hybrid global sensitivity measure with optimal sampling method selection. The proposed sensitivity measure is as computationally efficient as the derivative-based global sensitivity measure, which also serves as the conservative estimation of the corresponding variance-based global sensitivity measure. Moreover, the optimal sampling method for the proposed sensitivity measure is studied. In search of the optimal sampling method, we investigated the performances of six widely used sampling methods, namely Monte Carlo sampling, Latin hypercube sampling, stratified sampling, Latinized stratified sampling, and quasi-Monte Carlo sampling using the Sobol and Halton sequences. In addition, the proposed sensitivity measure is validated through its application to a rural bridge.

Deoxynivalenol (DON) is the one of the most common mycotoxins, widely detected in various original foods and processed foods. Tanshinone IIA (Tan IIA) is a fat-soluble diterpene quinone extracted from Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, which has multi-biological functions and pharmacological effects. However, whether Tan IIA has a protective effect against DON-induced intestinal toxicity is unknown. In this study, the results showed Tan IIA treatment could attenuate DON-induced IPEC-J2 cell death. DON increased oxidation product accumulation, decreased antioxidant ability and disrupted barrier function, while Tan IIA reversed DON-induced barrier function impairment and oxidative stress. Furthermore, Tan IIA dramatically improved mitochondrial function via mitochondrial quality control. Tan IIA could upregulate mitochondrial biogenesis and mitochondrial fusion as well as downregulate mitochondrial fission and mitochondrial unfolded protein response. In addition, Tan IIA significantly attenuated mitophagy caused by DON. Collectively, Tan IIA presented a potential protective effect against DON toxicity and the underlying mechanisms were involved in mitochondrial quality control–mediated mitophagy.

Cadmium (Cd) contamination is a growing concern, as exposure to the metal has been shown to inhibit plant growth and development. However, soil Cd pollution in China is typically mild, and thus its concentration often does not impede plant growth. On the other hand, it is unknown if increased plant growth impacts Cd uptake, movement, and accumulation. Here, we analyzed the relationship between Cd accumulation in 31 tomato cultivars and the impact on specific growth parameters in mild Cd contamination. The results showed that there are variations in the Cd distribution among the 31 tomato cultivars studied. There were higher Cd concentrations in shoots of the cultivar ‘SV3557’, whereas root Cd concentrations were the lowest. The roots of the cultivar ‘HF11’ recorded the lowest Cd content but had higher Cd content in the shoots. The Cd concentration in roots and shoots was not related to root length, plant height, and root weight. However, Cd accumulation in the shoots was markedly promoted by root length and plant height, and Cd accumulation in the roots was promoted by root weight. Subsequently, we imposed Cd on four selected tomato cultivars to ascertain their accumulation in the shoot tissues. The results revealed that, among the four tomato cultivars, Cd was highly accumulated in the leaves, followed by the stems, and the fruits (leaf > stem > fruit). When identifying significant loci associated with Cd accumulation in tomato plants, it is crucial to find a suitable indicator to assess the plant’s ability to accumulate Cd. Thus, Cd concentration in shoots can be used as a reliable proxy for evaluating tomato plants’ capacity for Cd accumulation. This study serves as a valuable reference in guiding the selection of such an index.

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is one of the most common microvascular complications of diabetes. Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) is a concomitant symptom of DR. As the grade of lesion of DR and DME increase, the possibility of blindness can also increase significantly. In order to take the early interventions as soon as possible to reduce the likelihood of blindness, it is necessary to perform both DR and DME grading. We design a joint grading model based on multi-task learning and multi-branch networks (MaMNet) for DR and DME grading. The model mainly includes a multi-branch network (MbN), a feature fusion module, and a disease classification module. The MbN is formed by four branch structures, which can extract the low-level feature information of DME and DR in a targeted way; the feature fusion module is composed of a self-feature extraction module (SFEN), cross-feature extraction module (CFEN) and atrous spatial pyramid pooling module (ASPP). By combining various features collected from the aforementioned modules, the feature fusion module can provide more thorough discriminative features, which benefits the joint grading accuracy. The ISBI-2018-IDRiD challenge dataset is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. The experimental results show that based on the multi-task strategy the two grading tasks of DR and DME can provide each other with additional useful information. The joint accuracy of the model, the accuracy of DR and the accuracy of DME are 61.2%, 64.1% and 79.4% respectively.

The release of algal toxins in algae-containing water sources poses a serious threat to drinking water safety and human health. The conventional water treatment processes of water plants have a limited ability to remove algae and algal toxins, especially algal toxins with a molecular weight (MW) of less than 1000 Da. To eliminate algal pollution from a water source, a two-stage ultrafiltration (UF) process with a large polysulfone hollow fiber membrane with a MW cut-off of 200 kDa and a small aromatic polyamide roll membrane with a MW cut-off of 1 kDa were applied after a traditional sand filter in a water treatment plant. UF operation conditions, including the operating time, pressure, and membrane flux, were investigated. With an operating pressure of 0.05–0.08 MPa, the polysulfone hollow fiber membrane removed algae effectively, as the influent algal cell concentration ranged from 1–30 cells/mL but exhibited a limited removal of algal toxins. With an operating pressure of 0.3–0.4 MPa, the elimination of microcystins (MCs) reached 96.3% with the aromatic polyamide roll membrane. The operating pressure, membrane flux, and operating time were selected as the experimental factors, and the effects on the UF efficiency to remove algal toxins and biodegradable dissolved organic carbon were investigated by the response surface methodology. The model showed that the order of influence on the membrane operating efficiency was operating pressure > membrane flux > running time. The optimal UF operating conditions were an operating pressure of 0.3 MPa, a membrane flux of 17.5 L/(m2·h), and a running time of 80 min.

The intestinal tract is a target organ for Deoxynivalenol (DON) absorption and toxicity. Mitochondrial homeostasis imbalance is the gut toxicity mechanism of DON. Lycopene (LYC) has intestinal protective effects and can maintain mitochondrial homeostasis in response to various danger signals. The purpose of this study was to explore the protective effect of LYC on DON-induced IPEC-J2 cells damage. These results showed that DON exposure induced an increase in the levels of malondialdehyde and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in IPEC-J2 cells. DON impaired IPEC-J2 cell barrier function and caused mitochondrial dysfunction by inducing mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) opening, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) reducing, destroying mitochondrial fission factors, mitochondrial fusion factors, and mitophagy factors expression. However, adding LYC can reduce the toxic effects of DON-induced IPEC-J2 cells and decrease cellular oxidative stress, functional damage, mitochondrial dynamics imbalance, and mitophagy processes. In conclusion, LYC maintains mitochondrial homeostasis to counteract the IPEC-J2 cells’ toxicity of DON.

A personal audio system has a wide application prospect in people’s lives, which can be implemented by sound field control technology. However, the current sound field control technology is mainly based on sound pressure or its improvement, ignoring another physical property of sound: particle velocity, which is not conducive to the stability of the entire reconstruction system. To address the problem, a sound field method is constructed in this paper, which minimizes the reconstruction error in the bright zone, minimizes the loudspeaker array effort in the reconstruction system, and at the same time controls the particle velocity and sound pressure of the dark zone. Five unevenly placed loudspeakers were used as the initial setup for the computer simulation experiment. Simulation results suggest that the proposed method is better than the PM (pressure matching) and EDPM (eigen decomposition pseudoinverse method) methods in the bright zone in an acoustic contrast index, the ACC (acoustic contrast control) method in a reconstruction error index, and the ACC, PM, and EDPM methods in the bright zone in a loudspeaker array effort index. The average array effort of the proposed method is the smallest, which is about 9.4790, 8.0712, and 4.8176 dB less than that of the ACC method, the PM method in the bright zone, and the EDPM method in the bright zone, respectively, so the proposed method can produce the most stable reconstruction system when the loudspeaker system is not evenly placed. The results of computer experiments demonstrate the performance of the proposed method, and suggest that compared with traditional methods, the proposed method can achieve more balanced results in the three indexes of acoustic contrast, reconstruction error, and loudspeaker array effort on the whole.

Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare endocrine malignancy with a poor prognosis. Increasing evidence highlights the significant role of immune-related genes (IRGs) in ACC progression and immunotherapy, but the research is still limited. Based on the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, immune-related molecular subtypes were identified by unsupervised consensus clustering. Univariate Cox analysis and Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression were employed to further establish immune-related gene signatures (IRGS). An evaluation of immune cell infiltration, biological function, tumor mutation burden (TMB), predicted immunotherapy response, and drug sensitivity in ACC patients was conducted to elucidate the applicative efficacy of IRGS in precision therapy. ACC patients were divided into two molecular subtypes through consistent clustering. Furthermore, the 3-gene signature (including PRKCA, LTBP1, and BIRC5) based on two molecular subtypes demonstrated consistent prognostic efficacy across the TCGA and GEO datasets and emerged as an independent prognostic factor. The low-risk group exhibited heightened immune cell infiltration, TMB, and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), associated with a favorable prognosis. Pathways associated with drug metabolism, hormone regulation, and metabolism were activated in the low-risk group. In conclusion, our findings suggest IRGS can be used as an independent prognostic biomarker, providing a foundation for shaping future ACC immunotherapy strategies.

Up to 50% of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, and the surface protein of HBV is essential for the progression of HBV-related HCC. The expression of large HBV surface antigen (LHB) is presented in HBV-associated HCC tissues and is significantly associated with the development of HCC. Gene set enrichment analysis revealed that LHB overexpression regulates the cell cycle process. Excess LHB in HCC cells induced chronic endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and was significantly correlated with tumor growth in vivo. Cell cycle analysis showed that cell cycle progression from G1 to S phase was greatly enhanced in vitro. We identified intensive crosstalk between ER stress and cell cycle progression in HCC. As an important regulator of the G1/S checkpoint, p27 was transcriptionally upregulated by transcription factors ATF4 and XBP1s, downstream of the unfolded protein response pathway. Moreover, LHB-induced ER stress promoted internal ribosome-entry-site-mediated selective translation of p27, and E3 ubiquitin ligase HRD1-mediated p27 ubiquitination and degradation. Ultimately, the decrease in p27 protein levels reduced G1/S arrest and promoted the progress of HCC by regulating the cell cycle.

Influenced by global warming, glaciers in High Mountains Asia (HMA) generally show a trend of retreat and thinning, but in Karakoram, Pamir, and West Kunlun there is a trend of glacier stabilization or even a weak advance. In this study, using a bibliometric analysis, we systematically sorted the area, mass balance, and elevation changes of the glaciers in Karakoram and summarized the glacier surges in HMA. The study shows that, since the 1970s, the glaciers in the Karakoram region have experienced a weak positive mass balance, with weakly reducing area and the increasing surface elevation. The north slope of Chogori Peak and the Keltsing River Basin presented a glacier retreat rate with a fast to slow trend. The anomaly is mainly due to low summer temperatures and heavy precipitation in winter and spring in the Karakoram region. There are a large number of surging glaciers in the Karakoram Mountains, the Pamir Plateau, and the West Kunlun region in the western part of HMA, especially in the Karakoram Mountains and the Pamir Plateau, which account for more than 70% of the number of surging glaciers in the entire HMA. The glaciers in the Karakoram and Kunlun Mountains are mainly affected by the synergistic influence of various factors, such as hydrothermal conditions, atmospheric circulation, and topography. However, the glaciers in the Pamir region are mainly influenced by the thermal mechanism of the glacier surge. The glaciers in and around Karakoram are critical to the hydrological response to climate change, and glacial meltwater is an important freshwater resource in arid and semi-arid regions of South and Central Asia, as well as in western China. Therefore, changes in the Karakoram anomaly will remain a hot research topic in the future.

Background: men who have sex with men (MSM) are a high-risk group for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, and the HPV vaccine is effective in preventing it. However, according to risk compensation theory, people may increase sexual risk behaviors after receiving HPV vaccination. Based on the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA), this study investigated the influencing factors to predict intention to reduce condom use (risk compensation intention) among MSM after taking HPV vaccination in southwest China. Methods: we conducted a cross-sectional study among 948 MSM in southwest China using a non-probability sampling method and an electronic questionnaire including sociodemographic characteristics, sexual risk behavior characteristics, HPV-related prevention behavior, and the HAPA scale. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed using a structural equation model. Results: among 948 MSM, the incidence rate of reducing the frequency of condom use was 14.1%. The structural equation model showed that self-efficacy (β = −0.378, p = 0.020) and positive outcome expectancy (β = 0.366, p < 0.05) had greater effects on behavioral intention, followed by negative outcome expectancy (β = −0.296, p < 0.05) and risk perception (β = −0.232, p < 0.05). Conclusions: risk compensation may not be a major barrier to receiving HPV vaccination among MSM. Nevertheless, the recognition of possible risk compensation is necessary to implement appropriate interventions to reduce the occurrence of risk compensation.

This paper presents a study that conducted 5000 h of multi-factor aging tests on 10 kV composite crossarms, considering the natural environment in coastal areas and actual power line operations. Various aging conditions, such as voltage, rain, temperature, humidity, salt fog, ultraviolet light, and mechanical stress, were applied during the tests. The research initially analyzed the influence of multi-factor aging on the bending and tensile properties of the full-size composite crossarm. Subsequently, a detailed investigation was carried out to assess the impact of aging on the mechanical properties, electrical insulation properties, and microscopic characteristics of the composite crossarm core bar. Results indicated that the tensile strength and bending strength of the full-size composite crossarm mandrel experienced minimal changes after aging, remaining well within operational requirements. However, the silicone rubber outer sheath’s hydrophobicity decreased, leading to the appearance of cracks and holes on the surface, which provided pathways for moisture and salt infiltration into the mandrel. As a consequence, the bending strength and shear strength of the mandrel material were reduced by 16.5% and 37.7%, respectively. Moreover, the electrical performance test demonstrated a slight change in the mandrel’s leakage current, while the electrical breakdown strength decreased by 22.8%. Microscopic analysis using SEM, three-dimensional CT, and TGA revealed that a small amount of resin matrix decomposed and microcracks appeared on the surface. Additionally, the fiber-matrix interface experienced debonding and cracking, leading to an increased moisture absorption rate of the mandrel material.

Glaciers are sensitive indicators of climate change, and investigation of their dynamics is crucial for ensuring regional ecological security as well as disaster prevention and mitigation measures. Based on Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM)/Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+)/Operational Land Imager (OLI) imagery, the outlines and length of glaciers in the West Kunlun Main Peak Area (WKMPA) during 2000–2020 were obtained by combining a band ratio method with manual interpretation and an automatic extraction method for the glacier centerline, respectively. There were 440 glaciers in the WKMPA in 2020, covering an area of 2964.59 ± 54.87 km2, with an average length of 2916 ± 60 m. The glacier count increased due to division, while the area and length all exhibited a declining trend from 2000 to 2020, at rates of −0.04%·a−1 (24.83 km2) and −0.11%·a−1 (66 m), respectively. Glacier retreat was primarily observed during the early period (2000–2005). Except for glaciers located above an elevation of 6250 m, the glacier area decreased with each altitude interval from 2000 to 2020, and the rate of relative change in glacier area generally decreased with increasing altitude. Moreover, except for a slight increase in north-facing glaciers, the area of glaciers facing other orientations decreased during 2000–2020. The accuracy of the empirical formula fit for glacier length was highly dependent on glacier class, with greater precision observed for smaller glaciers and lower precision for larger valley-basin glaciers due to their complex morphological structures being neglected and only a single quantitative relationship being considered. There was a time lag of 12 years between temperature changes and glacier area response in this region. The mechanism by which glacier division affects glacier change is complex, requiring dissection of multiple factors such as area, length, and terminal elevation before and after division.

Laser soldering is a crucial soldering technique in the realm of electronic assembly. The temperature of the solder joint is intimately connected with the quality of the solder. This paper introduces an adjustable power upper limit variable-structure Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) intelligent control method for regulating the temperature of the solder joint during laser soldering. Distinct laser power limits are employed for workpieces with varying heat capacities. The solder joint temperature is monitored through an infrared thermometer, which enables closed-loop temperature control via a variable-structure PID algorithm. Residual neural network (ResNet) models are utilized to predict key soldering process parameters. This method has been executed and validated on a practical testing platform. Compared to other laser soldering control techniques, the proposed method demonstrates a low overshoot, rapid dynamic response, and swift adjustment capabilities, effectively enhancing the soldering quality and production efficiency.

The glaciers in northwest China are mainly distributed in the northern part of the Himalayas, the Kunlun Mountains, and the Tianshan Mountains. Glaciers are an important freshwater resource in the northern part of the Kunlun Mountains, and the melting of glaciers and snow provides an assured source of water for rivers on the southern edge of the Tarim Basin. Based on the first glacier inventory dataset on China (1968), the second glacier inventory dataset on China (2009), and the glacier inventory dataset on Western China in 2018, this study used DEM data, Landsat remote sensing images, and ERA5 atmospheric reanalysis data to investigate glacier change and its influencing factors with respect to the northern part of the Kunlun Mountains. The results showed that there were 9273 glaciers in the northern part of the Kunlun Mountains in 2018, with an area of about 11,762.72 km2, an ice inventory of about 1168.53 km3, and an average length per glacier of about 1.68 km. The glaciers were mainly distributed at altitudes of 5300–6100 m (7574.66 km2). From 1968 to 2018, the number of glaciers in the northern stretch of the Kunlun Mountains increased by 343, while the glacier area decreased by 2452.80 km2 (−0.14%/a). From 2009 to 2018, the glacier area at the altitude of 4900 m to 6100 m decreased in the northern section of the Kunlun Mountains, and the glacier area at the remaining altitude increased slightly (10.67 km2). From 1968 to 2018, the glacier area and glacier length in all river basins decreased. The relative rate of glacier area change in the Qarqan River basin from 2009 to 2018 was five times that of 1968–2009, and this needs significant attention. From 1968 to 2018, both temperature and precipitation increased to varying degrees, and the increase in precipitation was beneficial to the accumulation of glaciers. Therefore, the increase in temperature was the main cause of glacier change in the northern section of the Kunlun Mountains.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) systems operated in dual band for the non-destructive measurement of the fat, protein, collagen, ash, and Na contents of soy sauce stewed meat (SSSM). Spectra in the waveband ranges of 650–950 nm and 960–1660 nm were acquired from vacuum-packed ready-to-eat samples that were purchased from 97 different brands. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) was employed to develop models predicting the five critical quality parameters. The results showed the best predictions were for the fat (Rp = 0.808; RMSEP = 2.013 g/kg; RPD = 1.666) and protein (Rp = 0.863; RMSEP = 3.372 g/kg; RPD = 1.863) contents, while barely sufficient performances were found for the collagen (Rp = 0.524; RMSEP = 1.970 g/kg; RPD = 0.936), ash (Rp = 0.384; RMSEP = 0.524 g/kg; RPD = 0.953), and Na (Rp = 0.242; RMSEP = 2.097 g/kg; RPD = 1.042) contents of the SSSM. The quality of the content predicted by the spectrum of 960–1660 nm was generally better than that for the 650–950 nm range, which was retained in the further prediction of fat and protein. To simplify the models and make them practical, regression models were established using a few wavelengths selected by the random frog (RF) or regression coefficients (RCs) method. Consequently, ten wavelengths (1048 nm, 1051 nm, 1184 nm, 1191 nm, 1222 nm, 1225 nm, 1228 nm, 1450 nm, 1456 nm, 1510 nm) selected by RF and eight wavelengths (1019 nm, 1097 nm, 1160 nm, 1194 nm, 1245 nm, 1413 nm, 1441 nm, 1489 nm) selected by RCs were individually chosen for the fat and protein contents to build multi-spectral PLSR models. New models led to the best predictive ability of Rp, RMSEP, and RPD of 0.812 and 0.855, 1.930 g/kg and 3.367 g/kg, and 1.737 and 1.866, respectively. These two simplified models both yielded comparable performances to their corresponding full-spectra models, demonstrating the effectiveness of these selected variables. The overall results indicate that NIRS, especially in the spectral range of 960–1660 nm, is a potential tool in the rapid estimation of the fat and protein contents of SSSM, while not providing particularly good prediction statistics for collagen, ash, and Na contents.

Epoxy-resin-based composites in the field of current electrical materials often work in high temperature, high humidity or salt spray conditions. In order to improve the operation reliability of the composite insulator cross arm in a high temperature, high humidity and high salt spray environment, and analyze the aging mechanism and performance characteristics of resin, in this paper, wet heat aging and salt spray aging experiments were carried out on the blended resin system composed of bisphenol A type epoxy resin (E-51), aliphatic epoxy modified bisphenol A epoxy resin (2021P/E-51) and dimeric acid modified bisphenol A epoxy resin (EPD-172/E-51). Among them, 10 wt% and 20 wt% of 2021P blend resin and 10 wt% of EPD blend resin have superior thermo-mechanical properties. Under humid and hot conditions, the dielectric loss of 10 wt% EPD blend system before and after aging is 39.9% and 49.5% lower than that of pure E51 resin system, respectively. Under the condition of salt spray, the dielectric loss of 20 wt% and 10 wt% EPD blends decreased by 73.1% and 74.6% after aging. The leakage current of 10 wt% 2021P blend resin and 10 wt% EPD blend resin decreased by 7% and 3.8% before aging, respectively. After aging, they decreased by 3.7% and 2.2%, respectively. The bending strength of 2021P blend resin before and after aging reached 29.3 MPa and 26.6 MPa, respectively. The above three blending resin systems exhibit good electrical properties and good mechanical properties, their ageing resistance performance is strong and they are suitable as the matrix resin of compound cross arm mandrel material.

Sclerotinia ginseng is the primary pathogenic fungus responsible for Sclerotinia rot of ginseng, which significantly reduces plant yield and quality. The density of sclerotia in the soil is closely associated with rot incidence and severity. Whole genome sequencing was conducted to obtain fungal frame maps. The specific primers, q2001F/q2001R, were screened out by pan-genomic analysis using the NCBI database. Recombinant plasmids containing amplicons obtained with this primer set were used as standard plasmids to construct a real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR system. The relationships between the cycle threshold (Ct) values and the soil sclerotium densities were determined by real-time PCR. Real-time PCR had a detection limit of 1.5 × 10−2 g·kg−1 soil for Sclerotinia rot causing fungal mycelium, and the relationship between the density of S. ginseng mycelium n (g·g−1 soil) and the Ct value was n = 10(40.048 − Ct)/6.9541. The detection limit of real-time PCR for measuring soil sclerotia was 3.8 × 10−5 g·g−1 soil, suggesting a sensitivity 100 times that of conventional PCR. The relationship between the sclerotium density n (g·g−1 soil) and the Ct value was n = 10(18.351 − Ct)/7.0914. Compared with the conventional PCR method, the fluorescent quantitative PCR method could detect the population of Sclerotinia spp. in soil more efficiently, accurately, and sensitively.

The use of the heavy hammer compaction method can enhance the bearing characteristics of underwater rubble-mound foundations. This is crucial to ensure the safety and stability of port and coastal engineering projects. In the present work, a combination of image-recognition technology, 3D laser scanning technology, a discrete element numerical simulation, and a field test was first utilized to establish riprap particles and reconstruct a discrete element numerical model of a rubble-mound foundation, and then the effects of various influencing factors on the bearing characteristics of the rubble-mound foundation were studied. The main conclusions are as follows. (1) The load–settlement curve of the rubble-mound foundation can be divided into three stages: rapid growth stage, slow growth stage, and failure stage. (2) The ultimate bearing capacity of the rubble-mound foundation is positively correlated with the vibration time and vibration amplitude. The riprap particle size and the foundation thickness have negligible effects on the ultimate bearing capacity of the rubble-mound foundation. (3) When adjusting the vibration time, vibration amplitude, and foundation thickness, the settlement value of the rubble-mound foundation tends to increase as the compactness increases. On the other hand, the effects of factors such as the riprap particle size, riprap particle gradation, and vibration frequency on the compactness and settlement value of the rubble-mound foundation are less significant.

The rampant misuse of drones poses a serious threat to national security and human life. Currently, CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks) are widely used to detect drones. However, small drone targets often reduced amplitude or even lost features in infrared images which traditional CNN cannot overcome. This paper proposes a Progressive Feature Fusion Network (PFFNET) and designs a Pooling Pyramid Fusion (PFM) to provide more effective global contextual priors for the highest downsampling output. Then, the Feature Selection Model (FSM) is designed to improve the use of the output coding graph and enhance the feature representation of the target in the network. Finally, a lightweight segmentation head is designed to achieve progressive feature fusion with multi-layer outputs. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has good real-time performance and high accuracy in drone target detection. On the public dataset, the intersection over union (IOU) is improved by 2.5% and the detection time is reduced by 81%.

In organic light-emitting diodes, positive and negative charge carriers mostly migrate at different rates. This could result in excitons formed in the EML often migrating to the vicinity of the hole transport layer and the electron transport layer. To address this, it is important to design high-quality multi-resonance hosts that can balance the migration rate of carriers. Here, we report two newly developed multi-resonance hosts, m-ICzPBI and o-ICzPBI. The hosts contain an indolo[3,2,1-jk]carbazole (ICz) motif, which functionalized as either a donor or an acceptor unit. The hosts exhibit extremely high molecular rigidity and thermal stability. Devices A and B were constructed using FIrpic as a phosphorescent emitter with m-ICzPBI or o-ICzPBI as a host. Device A achieved high maximum values of EQE, PE and CE of 13.4%, 24.8 lm W−1 and 31.6 cd A−1, respectively, and low efficiency roll-off at 5000 cd m−2 of 8.6%, 10.6 lm W−1 and 20.3 cd A−1, respectively.

Background: Our previous research revealed that inflammation plays an important role in the pathophysiology of cerebral ischemia. The function of the NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is to activate the inflammatory process. Recent findings suggest that reactive oxygen species (ROS) are essential secondary messengers that activate the NLRP3 inflammasome. Hydrogen-rich saline (HS) has attracted attention for its anti-inflammatory properties. However, the protective effect and possible mechanism of HSin brain ischemia have not been well elucidated. Methods: To test the therapeutic effect of HS, we established a mouse model of distal middle cerebral artery occlusion (dMCAO) and an in vitro model of BV2 cells induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The ROS scavenger N-acetylcysteine (NAC) was used to investigate the underlying mechanisms of HS. Results: HS significantly improved neurological function, reduced infarct volume, and increased cerebral blood flow in a dMCAO mouse model. ROS, NLRP3, Caspase-1, and IL-1β expression increased after cerebral ischemia, and this was reversed by HS treatment. In BV2 cells, the application of NAC further demonstrated that HS could effectively inhibit the expression of the ROS-activated NLRP3 inflammasome. Conclusions: HS, as a novel therapeutic option, could exert protect the brain by inhibiting the activation of the ROS-NLRP3 signaling pathway after cerebral ischemia.

In this study, the preparation of covalent polyoxometalate organic frameworks (CPOFs) is introduced using the idea of polyoxometalate and covalent organic frameworks. Firstly, the prepared polyoxometalate was functionalized with an amine group (NH2-POM-NH2), and then the CPOFs were prepared by a solvothermal Schiff base reaction with NH2-POM-NH2 and 2,4,6-trihydroxybenzene-1,3,5-tricarbaldehyde (Tp) as monomers. After the incorporation of PtNPs and MWCNTs into the CPOFs material, the PtNPs-CPOFs-MWCNTs nanocomposites, which possess excellent catalytic activity and electrical conductivity, were formed and utilized as new electrode materials for the electrochemical thymol sensors. The obtained PtNPs-CPOFs-MWCNTs composite exhibits excellent activity toward thymol, which is attributable to its large special surface area, good conductivity and the synergistic catalysis of each component. Under optimal experimental conditions, the sensor presented a good electrochemical response to thymol. The sensor shows two good linear relationships between the current and thymol concentration in the range of 2–65 μM (R2 = 0.996) and 65–810 μM (R2 = 0.997), with the corresponding sensitivity of 72.7 μA mM−1 and 30.5 μA mM−1, respectively. Additionally, the limit of detection (LOD) was calculated to be 0.2 μM (S/N = 3). At the same time, the prepared thymol electrochemical sensor revealed superior stability and selectivity. The constructed PtNPs-CPOFs-MWCNT electrochemical sensor is the first example of thymol detection.

Deep learning and convolutional neural networks (CNN) have been widely applied in polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) image classification, and satisfactory results have been obtained. However, there is one crucial issue that still has not been solved. These methods require abundant labeled samples and obtaining the labeled samples of PolSAR images is usually time-consuming and labor-intensive. To obtain better classification results with fewer labeled samples, a new attention-based 3D residual relation network (3D-ARRN) is proposed for PolSAR image. Firstly, a multilayer CNN with residual structure is used to extract depth polarimetric features. Secondly, to extract more important feature information and improve the classification results, a spatial weighted attention network (SWANet) is introduced to concentrate the feature information, which is more favorable for a classification task. Then, the features of training and test samples are integrated and CNN is utilized to compute the score of similarity between training and test samples. Finally, the similarity score is used to determine the category of test samples. Studies on four different PolSAR datasets illustrate that the proposed 3D-ARRN model can achieve higher classification results than other comparison methods with few labeled data.

T-2 toxin, the most toxic type A trichothecene mycotoxin, is produced by Fusarium, and is widely found in contaminated feed and stored grains. T-2 toxin is physicochemically stable and is challenging to eradicate from contaminated feed and cereal, resulting in food contamination that is inescapable and poses a major hazard to both human and animal health, according to the World Health Organization. Oxidative stress is the upstream cause of all pathogenic variables, and is the primary mechanism through which T-2 toxin causes poisoning. Nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) also plays a crucial part in oxidative stress, iron metabolism and mitochondrial homeostasis. The major ideas and emerging trends in future study are comprehensively discussed in this review, along with research progress and the molecular mechanism of Nrf2’s involvement in the toxicity impact brought on by T-2 toxin. This paper could provide a theoretical foundation for elucidating how Nrf2 reduces oxidative damage caused by T-2 toxin, and a theoretical reference for exploring target drugs to alleviate T-2 toxin toxicity with Nrf2 molecules.

Background: Intestinal obstruction in neonates is a common problem that requires prompt diagnosis and treatment, and ultrasound could be a potential tool for it. The purpose of this study was to investigate the accuracy of ultrasonography in diagnosing and identifying the cause of intestinal obstruction in neonates, the corresponding ultrasonic manifestations, as well as to utilize the diagnostic method. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of all neonatal intestinal obstruction in our institute between 2009 and 2022. The accuracy of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of intestinal obstruction and the identification of its etiology was compared with the results of operation as the gold standard. Results: The accuracy of the ultrasonic diagnosis of intestinal obstruction was 91%, and the accuracy of the ultrasonic etiological diagnosis of intestinal obstruction was 84%. The main ultrasound findings for the neonatal intestinal obstruction were dilation and high tension of the proximal bowel and collapse of the distal intestinal. Other major manifestations were the presence of corresponding diseases causing intestinal obstruction at the junction of the dilated and collapsed bowel. Conclusions: Ultrasound has the advantages of being a flexible multi-section dynamic evaluation and a valuable tool to diagnose and identify the cause of intestinal obstruction in neonates.

With the increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs), the randomness of the charging load will have an increasing impact on the distribution network (DN) and road network. Different guidance strategies lead to different network-related capabilities of fast charging stations (FCSs). In this paper, a hierarchical and comprehensive evaluation method is proposed for the network-related capability of FCSs. Based on the comprehensive evaluation method, a charging guidance strategy is proposed to improve the network-related capability of FCSs. Finally, the network connection capability of FCSs under four strategies is comprehensively evaluated to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs), one of the most promising photovoltaic technologies, have been widely studied due to their high power conversion efficiency (PCE), low cost, and solution processability. The architecture of PSCs determines that high PCE and stability are highly dependent on each layer and the related interface, where nonradiative recombination occurs. Conventional synthetic chemical materials as modifiers have disadvantages of being toxic and costly. Natural molecules with advantages of low cost, biocompatibility, and being eco-friendly, and have improved PCE and stability by modifying both functional layers and interface. In this review, we discuss the roles of natural molecules on PSCs devices in terms of the perovskite active layer, interface, carrier transport layers (CTLs), and substrate. Finally, the summary and outlook for the future development of natural molecule-modified PSCs are also addressed.

Increasing evidence confirms that tumor microenvironment (TME) can influence tumor progression and treatment, but TME is still understudied in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). In this study, we first scored TME using the xCell algorithm, then defined genes associated with TME, and then used consensus unsupervised clustering analysis to construct TME-related subtypes. Meanwhile, weighted gene co-expression network analysis was used to identify modules correlated with TME-related subtypes. Ultimately, the LASSO-Cox approach was used to establish a TME-related signature. The results showed that TME-related scores in ACC may not correlate with clinical features but do promote a better overall survival. Patients were classified into two TME-related subtypes. Subtype 2 had more immune signaling features, higher expression of immune checkpoints and MHC molecules, no CTNNB1 mutations, higher infiltration of macrophages and endothelial cells, lower tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion scores, and higher immunophenoscore, suggesting that subtype 2 may be more sensitive to immunotherapy. 231 modular genes highly relevant to TME-related subtypes were identified, and a 7-gene TME-related signature that independently predicted patient prognosis was established. Our study revealed an integrated role of TME in ACC and helped to identify those patients who really responded to immunotherapy, while providing new strategies on risk management and prognosis prediction.

Monocular depth estimation techniques are used to recover the distance from the target to the camera plane in an image scene. However, there are still several problems, such as insufficient estimation accuracy, the inaccurate localization of details, and depth discontinuity in planes parallel to the camera plane. To solve these problems, we propose the Global Feature Interaction Network (GFI-Net), which aims to utilize geometric features, such as object locations and vanishing points, on a global scale. In order to capture the interactive information of the width, height, and channel of the feature graph and expand the global information in the network, we designed a global interactive attention mechanism. The global interactive attention mechanism reduces the loss of pixel information and improves the performance of depth estimation. Furthermore, the encoder uses the Transformer to reduce coding losses and improve the accuracy of depth estimation. Finally, a local–global feature fusion module is designed to improve the depth map’s representation of detailed areas. The experimental results on the NYU-Depth-v2 dataset and the KITTI dataset showed that our model achieved state-of-the-art performance with full detail recovery and depth continuation on the same plane.

The recently discovered Daping tungsten deposit is located about 25 km north of Tongcheng County, Hubei Province, in the northern margin of the Sijiapu granite deposit of the Mufushan composite batholith. The ore body is produced in the northeast-oriented greisenization granite and quartz vein, and belongs to the greisen-vein-type scheelite deposit. The resources of the Daping W deposit have a value of 7935 t W and the average grade is 0.201% WO3. Based on mineralogical and petrographic studies, scheelite is classified into two types. A study of the geochemical characteristics of rare earth elements (REEs) and trace elements indicated that some scheelite specimens showed LREE depletion. Meanwhile, the total amount of scheelite rare earth elements (REEs) is low and the ratio of LREE/HREE ranges from 0.40~2.72 in the Daping W deposit. The contents of REEs and trace elements in the two types of scheelite differ significantly. Type I scheelite has an average ∑REE content of 195.65 ppm, an LREE/HREE value of 0.5, an Eu anomaly (δEu) of 0.78, Mo of 366.20 ppm, Sn of 22.62 ppm, and Sr of 264.80 ppm. However, type II scheelite features an average ∑REE of 111.28 ppm, an LREE/HREE ratio of 1.43, a δEu of 1.56, Mo of 188.48 ppm, Sn of 0.15 ppm, and Sr of 829.93 ppm. The content level of Mo in the two types of scheelite is not high, indicating that this whole metallogenic environment is a reduction environment. However, this is a complex process. The presence of type I scheelite with negative Eu anomalies and relatively high Mo content indicates that the ore-forming environment in the early period of the greisen stage was relatively oxidizing. In contrast, type II scheelite contains large amounts of Sr and large positive Eu anomalies, which are likely to be released from plagioclase in the granite during greisenization. The extremely low composition of Mo in type II scheelite is closely related to the reducing environment in the later period of the greisen stage. Because Mo probably exists in its Mo4+ state, it may be difficult for it to replace W6+ in the scheelite lattice. Additionally, comparing the contents of Sn and Sr in different types of scheelite shows that the metallogenic environment changes from relative oxidation to the reduction of scheelite. The variation in trace elements and REEs in scheelite over time reflects a complex magmatic–hydrothermal mineralization environment. Additionally, the Ar–Ar system dating results for muscovite that is closely associated with scheelite in the greisenization granite vein indicate that a muscovite 40Ar/39Ar plateau age of about 133 Ma represents the time of tungsten mineralization. This muscovite 40Ar/39Ar dating result is close to the previous zircon U-Pb age data of the biotite monzogranite (ca. 140–145 Ma), which is the largest intrusion in the orefield. Meanwhile, the new age data reported here confirm that the Daping tungsten deposit represents a Mesozoic magmatic–hydrothermal mineralization event with a setting of lithospheric extension in the Mufushan composite batholith.

The application of self-tapping screws as reinforcement on glulam connections has been proven effective. However, the implication of different thread configurations on the effectiveness of reinforcement remains unknown. This paper conducted experiments using screws with various thread configurations in embedment-strength tests and tensile connection tests. Results show that self-tapping screws with one third of thread achieved similar improvement in the embedment strength and mechanical properties of connections as fully threaded screws. This implies that properly reducing the thread length on self-tapping screws ensures easier screw installation than using fully threaded screws. The influence of screw-to-dowel distance was also investigated and two distances (0.5 d and 1 d) were adopted, with ‘d’ being the diameter of the dowel. The difference in embedment strength due to different screw-to-dowel distances was insignificant. The group with screws placed in contact (0.5 d) with the dowel achieved 5% higher embedment strength than the group with screws placed at a 1 d distance. The connection tests showed good agreement with the embedment-strength tests. This confirms that self-tapping screws with reduced thread can enhance the load-carrying capacity and ductility of connections to a level similar to connections reinforced by fully threaded screws.

Single image super-resolution (SISR) is to reconstruct a high-resolution (HR) image from a corresponding low-resolution (LR) input. It is an effective way to solve the problem that infrared remote sensing images are usually suffering low resolution due to hardware limitations. Most previous learning-based SISR methods just use synthetic HR-LR image pairs (obtained by bicubic kernels) to learn the mapping from LR images to HR images. However, the underlying degradation in the real world is often different from the synthetic method, i.e., the real LR images are obtained through a more complex degradation kernel, which leads to the adaptation problem and poor SR performance. To handle this problem, we propose a novel closed-loop framework that can not only make full use of the learning ability of the channel attention module but also introduce the information of real images as much as possible through a closed-loop structure. Our network includes two independent generative networks for down-sampling and super-resolution, respectively, and they are connected to each other to get more information from real images. We make a comprehensive analysis of the training data, resolution level and imaging spectrum to validate the performance of our network for infrared remote sensing image super-resolution. Experiments on real infrared remote sensing images show that our method achieves superior performance in various training strategies of supervised learning, weakly supervised learning and unsupervised learning. Especially, our peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) is 0.9 dB better than the second-best unsupervised super-resolution model on PROBA-V dataset.

In recent years, global warming has become increasingly severe, and the ecological and environmental problems facing mankind have become increasingly serious. As the main areas of transportation activities, cities are also the main places of carbon emissions. As a necessary condition for human’s daily-life travel, it is particularly important to calculate the carbon emissions from urban transportation. Due to the different characteristics of economy and population in different regions of a city, the carbon emissions of urban buses show different characteristics in terms of temporal and spatial distribution. The developments of science and technology promote the application of big data analysis to specific practical life, enabling people to research and solve problems from a new perspective. This paper uses the GPS data of urban buses in Sanya City, China, to identify operation conditions from urban buses, and calculates the distance and time under different conditions. Based on the measured data of carbon emissions, this paper visualizes the distribution characteristics of carbon emissions by density analysis; explains the time distribution characteristics by the visual analysis of carbon emissions in different time periods, working days and rest days, and different energy types; and illustrates the spatial distribution characteristics by the spatial distributions of carbon emissions from Sanya’s buses on working days and rest days, as well as in different routes, providing reference for a low-carbon development of urban green transport.

This study examined whether diets with high dietary methionine levels could alleviate chronic heat stress in Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis. Crabs were fed three dietary methionine levels of 0.49%, 1.29% and 2.09% for six weeks. The analyzed methionine concentration of diets was 0.48%, 1.05% and 1.72%, respectively. Crabs were fed three different supplemental concentrations of dietary methionine at 24 °C and 30 °C, respectively. The trial was divided into six groups with five replicates in each group, and 40 juvenile crabs (initial average weight 0.71 ± 0.01 g) in each replicate. During the trial, crabs were fed twice daily (the diet of 4% of the body weight was delivered daily). The effects of dietary methionine level on nutrient metabolism, antioxidant capacity, apoptosis factors and immunity were evaluated at a normal water temperature of 24 °C and high temperature of 30 °C. Feed conversion ratio decreased under chronic heat stress. Chronic heat stress increased weight gain, specific growth rate, molting frequency, and protein efficiency ratio. The survival of crabs decreased under chronic heat stress, whereas a high level of dietary methionine significantly improved survival. Chronic heat stress induced lipid accumulation and protein content reduction. The high-methionine diet decreased lipid in the body and hepatopancreas, but increased protein in the body, muscle and hepatopancreas under chronic heat stress. Simultaneously, the high dietary methionine levels mitigated oxidative stress by reducing lipid peroxidation, restoring the antioxidant enzyme system, decreasing apoptosis and activating immune function under chronic heat stress. This study suggests that supplementing 1.72% dietary methionine could alleviate the adverse effects of a high water temperature in E. sinensis farming.

Iron is an important metal element involved in the regulation of male reproductive functions and has dual effects on testicular tissue. A moderate iron content is necessary to maintain testosterone synthesis and spermatogenesis. Iron overload can lead to male reproductive dysfunction by triggering testicular oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation, and even testicular ferroptosis. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent form of cell death that is characterized by iron overload, lipid peroxidation, mitochondrial damage, and glutathione peroxidase depletion. This review summarizes the regulatory mechanism of ferroptosis and the research progress on testicular ferroptosis caused by endogenous and exogenous toxicants. The purpose of the present review is to provide a theoretical basis for the relationship between ferroptosis and male reproductive function. Some toxic substances or danger signals can cause male reproductive dysfunction by inducing testicular ferroptosis. It is crucial to deeply explore the testicular ferroptosis mechanism, which will help further elucidate the molecular mechanism of male reproductive dysfunction. It is worth noting that ferroptosis does not exist alone but rather coexists with other forms of cell death (such as apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagic death). Alleviating ferroptosis alone may not completely reverse male reproductive dysfunction caused by various risk factors.

Clinical and animal studies suggest that paternal exposure to adverse environments (bad living habits and chronic stress, etc.) has profound impacts on offspring development; however, the mechanism of paternal disease has not been clarified. In this study, a meta-analysis was first performed to suggest that paternal exposure to nicotine, ethanol, or caffeine is a high-risk factor for adverse pregnancy outcomes. Next, we created a rat model of paternal nicotine/ethanol/caffeine mixed exposure (PME), whereby male Wistar rats were exposed to nicotine (0.1 mg/kg/d), ethanol (0.5 g/kg/d), and caffeine (7.5 mg/kg/d) for 8 weeks continuously, then mated with normal female rats to obtain a fetus (n = 12 for control group, n = 10 for PME group). Then, we analyzed the changes in paternal hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis activity, testicular function, pregnancy outcomes, fetal serum metabolic indicators, and multiple organ functions to explore the mechanism from the perspective of chronic stress. Our results demonstrated that PME led to enhanced paternal HPA axis activity, decreased sperm quality, and adverse pregnancy outcomes (stillbirth and absorption, decreased fetal weight and body length, and intrauterine growth retardation), abnormal fetal serum metabolic indicators (corticosterone, glucolipid metabolism, and sex hormones), and fetal multi-organ dysfunction (including hippocampus, adrenal, liver, ossification, and gonads). Furthermore, correlation analysis showed that the increased paternal corticosterone level was closely related to decreased sperm quality, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and abnormal offspring multi-organ function development. Among them, the decreased activity of the glucocorticoid-insulin-like growth factor 1 (GC-IGF1) axis may be the main mechanism of offspring development and multi-organ dysfunction caused by PME. This study explored the impact of common paternal lifestyle in daily life on offspring development, and proposed the GC-IGF1 programming mechanisms of paternal chronic stress-induced offspring dysplasia, which provides a novel insight for exploring the important role of paternal chronic stress in offspring development and guiding a healthy lifestyle for men.

As an edible oil, palm oil is also safe and reliable in dyeing, and the residual palm oil after dyeing can be recycled and used continuously, which is green and environmentally friendly and has great research prospects. In this research, raw ramie yarn, used for traditional grass cloth, was dyed in a palm oil medium using Reactive Blue 194. Studying the adsorption and diffusion behaviour in the dyeing process is necessary. Additionally, the kinetics and isotherm model of dyeing raw ramie yarn with Reactive Blue 194 in palm oil is studied, and the adsorption behaviour between them is discussed. For a better understanding, the raw ramie yarn dyeing adsorption behaviour was also carried out in a water medium. It was found that the dyeing rates in palm oil are distinctly faster than in water. Kinetics data suggested that the pseudo-second-order model fitted for both dyeing mediums (palm oil and water) of the adsorption of the Reactive Blue 194 dye onto raw ramie yarn. Afterward, the adsorption isotherms’ results denote that the Langmuir model was suitable for palm oil dyeing medium while the Freundlich model was suited for water medium. Overall, this study has demonstrated that raw ramie yarn dyeing in a palm oil medium could be a sustainable colouration route for textile fibres with a greater dye exhaustion percentage.

The biodegradable dissolved organic carbon (BDOC) in micro-polluted water sources affects the drinking water quality and safety in the urban water supply. The conventional technology of “coagulation-sedimentation-filtration” in a water plant located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River removed dissolved organic carbon (DOC) with a molecular weight (MW) > 30 kDa effectively, but the BDOC elimination only ranged 27.4–58.1%, due to their predominant smaller MW (2O2–HCl immersion washing method effectively cleaned the membrane surface fouling, with a recovery of membrane flux of 98%.

Laser soldering has been gradually applied to the soldering of electronic components due to the rapid development of microelectronics. However, it is inefficient to use a mechanical shaft to move a laser beam. Here, a laser soldering system is constructed using galvanometer scanning, and an intelligent algorithm is also introduced to optimize the soldering path. Firstly, a laser soldering system for scanning of galvanometers is established, and the functions of visual monitoring, motion planning and parameter integration are presented. Secondly, the position of the laser beam and the corresponding soldering spot are determined, and the coordinate information is provided to plan a route by camera calibration and coordinate system transformation. Finally, the problem of path planning in this system is decomposed into the generation of the soldering point full coverage processing frame, and the route optimization of processing platform and laser beam motion. Furthermore, an improved clustering algorithm, based on the characteristics of system structure, and a hybrid optimization algorithm are designed to deal with the generation of the soldering point full coverage processing frame, the route optimization of processing platform and laser beam motion. In addition, the simulations and experiments are verified by test board. These findings shown that the established system and designed optimization algorithm can promote the efficiency of laser soldering.
