Liver fibrosis is an important step in the transformation of chronic liver disease into cirrhosis and liver cancer, and structural changes and functional disorders of liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) are early events in the occurrence of liver fibrosis. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the key regulatory genes of endothelial dysfunction in the process of liver fibrosis to provide a reference for the diagnosis and treatment of liver fibrosis. In this study, we identified 230 common differentially expressed genes (Co-DEGs) by analyzing transcriptomic data of primary LSECs from three different liver fibrosis mouse models (carbon tetrachloride; choline-deficient, l-amino acid-defined diet; and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis). Enrichment analysis revealed that the Co-DEGs were mainly involved in regulating the inflammatory response, immune response, angiogenesis, formation and degradation of the extracellular matrix, and mediating chemokine-related pathways. A Venn diagram analysis was used to identify 17 key genes related to the progression of liver cirrhosis. Regression analysis using the Lasso–Cox method identified genes related to prognosis among these key genes: SOX4, LGALS3, SERPINE2, CD52, and LPXN. In mouse models of liver fibrosis (bile duct ligation and carbon tetrachloride), all five key genes were upregulated in fibrotic livers. This study identified key regulatory genes for endothelial dysfunction in liver fibrosis, namely SOX4, LGALS3, SERPINE2, CD52, and LPXN, which will provide new targets for the development of therapeutic strategies targeting endothelial dysfunction in LSECs and liver fibrosis.

Coupling solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) with gross primary productivity (GPP) for ecological function integration research presents numerous uncertainties, especially in ecologically fragile and climate-sensitive arid regions. Therefore, evaluating the suitability of SIF data for estimating GPP and the feasibility of improving its accuracy in the northern region of Xinjiang is of profound significance for revealing the spatial distribution patterns of GPP and the strong coupling relationship between GPP and SIF in arid regions, achieving the goal of “carbon neutrality” in arid regions. This study is based on multisource SIF satellite data and GPP observation data from sites in three typical ecosystems (cultivated and farmlands, pasture grasslands, and desert vegetation). Two precision improvement methods (canopy and linear) are used to couple multiple indicators to determine the suitability of multisource SIF data for GPP estimation and the operability of accuracy improvement methods in arid regions reveal the spatial characteristics of SIF (GPP). The results indicate the following. (1) The interannual variation of GPP shows an inverted “U” shape, with peaks values in June and July. The cultivated and farmland areas have the highest peak value among the sites (0.35 gC/m2/month). (2) The overall suitability ranking of multisource SIF satellite products for GPP estimation in arid regions is RTSIF > CSIF > SIF_OCO2_005 > GOSIF. RTSIF shows better suitability in the pasture grassland and cultivated and farmland areas (R2 values of 0.85 and 0.84, respectively). (3) The canopy method is suitable for areas with a high leaf area proportion (R2 improvement range: 0.05–0.06), while the linear method is applicable across different surface types (R2 improvement range: 0.01–0.13). However, the improvement effect of the linear method is relatively weaker in areas with high vegetation cover. (4) Combining land use data, the overall improvement of SIF (GPP) is approximately 0.11%, and the peak values of its are mainly distributed in the northern and southern slopes of the Tianshan Mountains, while the low values are primarily found in the Gurbantunggut Desert. The annual mean value of SIF (GPP) is about 0.13 mW/m2/nm/sr. This paper elucidates the applicability of SIF for GPP estimation and the feasibility of improving its accuracy, laying the theoretical foundation for the spatiotemporal coupling study of GPP and SIF in an arid region, and providing practical evidence for achieving carbon neutrality goals.

Traditional access control systems exhibit limitations in providing flexible authorization and fine-grained access in the face of increasingly complex and dynamic access scenarios. This paper proposes a context-aware risk access control model to address these challenges. By developing a multi-level contextual risk indicator system, the model comprehensively considers real-time contextual information associated with access requests, dynamically evaluates the risk level of these requests, and compares the outcomes with predefined risk policies to facilitate access decisions. This approach enhances the dynamism and flexibility of access control. To improve the accuracy and reliability of risk assessments, we propose a combination weighting method grounded in game theory. This method reconciles subjective biases and the limitations of objective data by integrating both subjective and objective weighting techniques, thus optimizing the determination process for risk factor weights. Furthermore, smart contracts are introduced to monitor user behavior during access sessions, thereby preventing malicious attacks and the leakage of sensitive information. Finally, the model’s performance and authorization granularity are assessed through empirical experiments. The results indicate that the model effectively addresses the requirements of dynamic and fine-grained access scenarios, improving the system’s adaptability to risk fluctuations while safeguarding sensitive information.

Herein, we report a new strategy for the design of antibiotic agents based on the electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonding, highlighting the significance of hydrogen bonding and the increased recognition sites in facilitating the interaction with bacterial cell membranes and DNA. A series of quaternary ammonium functionalized urea-based anion receptors were studied. While the monodentate mono-urea M1, bisurea M2, and trisurea M3 failed to break through the cell membrane barrier and thus could not kill bacteria, the extended bidentate dimers D1–D3 presented gradually increased membrane penetrating capabilities, DNA conformation perturbation abilities, and broad-spectrum antibacterial activities against E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, E. faecalis, and S. epidermidis.

The dried ripe fruit of Terminalia chebula Retz. is a common Chinese materia medica, and ellagic acid (EA), isolated from the plant, is an important bioactive component for medicinal purposes. This study aimed to delineate the optimal extraction parameters for extracting the EA content from Chebulae Fructus (CF), focusing on the variables of ethanol concentration, extraction temperature, liquid–solid ratio, and extraction time. Utilizing a combination of the response surface methodology (RSM) and an artificial neural network (ANN), we systematically investigated these parameters to maximize the EA extraction efficiency. The extraction yields for EA obtained under the predicted optimal conditions validated the efficacy of both the RSM and ANN models. Analysis using the ANN-predicted data showed a higher coefficient of determination (R2) value of 0.9970 and a relative error of 0.79, compared to the RSM’s 2.85. The optimal conditions using the ANN are an ethanol concentration of 61.00%, an extraction temperature of 77 °C, a liquid–solid ratio of 26 mL g−1 and an extraction time of 103 min. These findings significantly enhance our understanding of the industrial-scale optimization process for EA extraction from CF.

Studying changes in land use per capita is critical for understanding the interactions between humans and ecosystems, and for modeling the impacts of land use changes on climate systems. However, many uncertainties in historical estimates significantly hinder climate modeling. This study estimated the per capita cropland area in traditional agricultural regions of China over the past millennium using historical-document-based and modern statistical cropland and population data. The findings showed that changes in the per capita cropland area in the provinces of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River could be characterized into three stages: slow decrease, rapid increase, and fluctuating decrease, whereas, in the provinces of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, there was a continuous decrease. Spatially, the per capita cropland area was higher in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and lower in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River during the study period. The per capita cropland areas showed clear differences in the HYDE dataset and our study; the corresponding values of our study were 2.1–8.0, 1.7–8.2, and 1.6–8.8 times higher than those from the HYDE dataset for the early Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties, respectively.

Some of the most severe aeolian damage occurs along the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet. Dust emission amounts (DEAs) are often used to assess aeolian damage; however, the research on DEAs in this area is currently almost blank. This article uses field-measured wind speed data from 2021 to 2022 in the Shannan wide valley area, combined with the Gillette dust emission estimation model to quantitatively determine the contributions of three surface types (riverbank quicksand area, foothill sand dunes, and the river floodplain vegetation area) to DEAs in the research area. The influence of surface characteristics on DEAs is analyzed and discussed. The results show the following: (1) The threshold friction velocity (u*t) in the riverbank quicksand area, foothill sand dunes, and the river floodplain vegetation area is 30.6 cm/s, 71.2 cm/s, and 85.6 cm/s, respectively, the threshold velocity (ut) is 6.1 m/s, 7.0 m/s, and 7.5 m/s, respectively, and the vegetation area is 2.8 times and 1.3 times that of the quicksand area, respectively. (2) The DEAs were in the following order: the riverbank quicksand area (652.9 t/km2) > foothill sand dunes (326.5 t/km2) > the river floodplain vegetation area (107.8 t/km2), the riverbank quicksand area is about 6.1 times that of the river floodplain vegetation area, and DEAs are a significant seasonal distribution: winter (44.7%) > spring (28.3%) > autumn (15.7%) > summer (11.3%). (3) The DEAs from the dusty weather were in the following order: blowing sand (60.2%) > sandstorms (28.6%) > gusty winds (11.2%). (4) The DEAs increase with the increase in the average wind speed greater than 6.1 m/s, but the increase rate is obviously different, which showed that Changguo and Azha are greater than Sangyesi, Duopazhang, Sangri, and Senburi. At approximately the same average wind speed greater than 6.1 m/s, the DEAs in the quicksand area are much greater than in the vegetation area.

Background: Vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) injury caused by the inflammatory response plays a key role in cardiovascular disease (CVD), and the vasoprotective effects of mineralocorticoid receptor blockers (MRBs) support the role of mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) activation. Methods: C57BL/6 mice and VSMCs isolated from rats were treated with aldosterone and esaxerenone. Caspase-1, GSDMD-N, IL-1β, and NR3C2 expression and DNA damage in aortic VSMCs were detected using immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, and TUNEL staining. Mitochondrial changes were detected by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Reactive oxygen species (ROS), MitoTracker, JC-I, mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes I–V, and NR3C2 were detected using immunofluorescence and flow cytometry. Pyroptosis was detected with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results: After aldosterone treatment, the number of TUNEL-positive cells increased significantly, and the expression of caspase-1, GSDMD-N, and IL-1β increased. TEM revealed mitochondrial damage, and SEM revealed specific pyroptotic changes, such as cell membrane pore changes and cytoplasmic extravasation. Increased ROS levels and nuclear translocation of NR3C2 were also observed. These pyroptosis-related changes were reversed by esaxerenone. Conclusions: Aldosterone activates the MR and mediates mitochondrial damage, thereby inducing pyroptosis in VSMCs via the NLRP3/caspase-1 pathway. Esaxerenone inhibits MR activation and reduces mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress, thereby inhibiting pyroptosis.

The process of synthesizing radionuclide-coupled drugs, especially shutdown technology that links bipotent chelators with biomolecules, utilizes traditional coupling reactions, including emerging click chemistry; these reactions involve different drawbacks, such as complex and cumbersome reaction steps, long reaction times, and the use of catalysts at various pH values, which can negatively impact the effects of the chelating agent. To address the above problems in this study, This research designed a novel bipotent chelator coupled with peptides. In the present study, dichloromethane was used as a solvent, and the reaction was conducted at room temperature for 12 h. A one-step ring-opening method was employed to introduce the coupling functional group of tridentate amide acid. The coupling materials consisted of the amino active site of the peptide and diethylene glycol anhydride. In this paper, this study explored the reactions between different equivalents of acid anhydride coupled to the peptide (peptide sequence: HLRKLRKR) and determined that the maximum conversion of the peptide feedstock was 87%. To determine the selectivity of the reaction sites in this polypeptide, This study identified the peptide sequence at the reaction site using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS). For the selected peptide, the first reactive site was on the terminal amino group, followed by the amino group on the tetra- and hepta-lysine side chains. The tridentate amic acid framework functions as a chelating agent, capable of binding a range of lanthanide ions. This significantly reduces and optimizes the time and cost associated with synthesizing radionuclide-coupled drugs.

In order to solve the problem of the low treatment efficiency of wastewater containing heavy metals in mining areas, straw biochar and graphene oxide enhanced external pressure ultrafiltration (SGU) was used to treat wastewater containing high concentrations of Pb2+. The operation parameters such as pH and temperature were optimized, and the removal efficiency of CODCr, NH3-N, turbidity and Pb2+ via SGU, straw biochar ultrafiltration (SU), ultrafiltration (UF), and conventional treatment (CT) were systematically investigated. The results showed that the pH and temperature of polluted water were 4.8–5.2 and 21–30 °C, respectively, the average removal rates of CODCr, NH3-N, turbidity and Pb2+ by SGU reached 91%, 97%, 98% and 95%, respectively, and the removal effect was better than that of other processes. In addition, under the backwash conditions of clean water, weak acid, and weak alkali, the membrane flux recovered 65%, 88%, and 89% of the new membrane, respectively. This study provides scientific and theoretical support for the advanced treatment of polluted water in mining areas.

Although various degradable gel materials have been developed for temporary plugging in oil fields, they often degrade too quickly in high-temperature environments. To address this issue, an unstable crosslinker was synthesized to prepare a high-temperature degradable gel. This gel does not degrade excessively fast at high temperatures. Temperature and crosslinker concentration are the primary factors influencing gel degradation time, followed by monomer and initiator concentrations. Increased temperature and decreased crosslinker concentration both reduce degradation time, which can be adjusted within the range of 90–130 °C by varying the crosslinker concentration. The molecular structure and thermal stability of the degradable gel were analyzed using FTIR, 13C NMR, and TG. Furthermore, the viscoelastic properties, compressive performance, plugging performance, and core damage performance of the gel were evaluated. Within the test range of 0.1–1000 Pa, the storage modulus is higher than the loss modulus. The gel prepared at 130 °C exhibited a compressive stress of 0.25 MPa at 50% strain. The plugging pressure of the gel in sand-filled tubes with varying permeabilities (538.2–2794.1 mD) exceeded 15 MPa while maintaining a core damage rate below 5%. SEM analysis indicated that the degradation mechanism of the gel may involve the collapse of its three-dimensional network structure due to the hydrolysis of amide groups in the crosslinker. The viscosity of the degradation liquid was below 11 mPa·s, enabling it to be brought back to the surface with the formation fluid without the need for further breaking operations.

The low nutrient content of soil in desert ecosystems results in unique physiological and ecological characteristics of plants under long-term water and nutrient stress, which is the basis for the productivity and stability maintenance of the desert ecosystem. However, the relationship between the soil and the plant nutrient elements in the desert ecosystem and its mechanism for maintaining ecosystem stability is still unclear. In this study, 35 sampling sites were established in an area with typical desert vegetation in the Qaidam Basin, based on a drought gradient. A total of 90 soil samples and 100 plant samples were collected, and the soil’s physico-chemical properties, as well as the nutrient elements in the plant leaves, were measured. Regression analysis, redundancy analysis (RDA), the Theil–Sen Median and Mann–Kendall methods, the structural equation model (SEM), and other methods were employed to analyze the distribution characteristics of the soil and plant nutrient elements along the drought gradient and the relationship between the soil and leaf nutrient elements and its impact on ecosystem stability. The results provided the following conclusions: Compared with the nutrient elements in plant leaves, the soil’s nutrient elements had a more obvious regularity of distribution along the drought gradient. A strong correlation was observed between the soil and leaf nutrient elements, with soil organic carbon and alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen identified as important factors influencing the leaf nutrient content. The SEM showed that the soil’s organic carbon had a positive effect on ecosystem stability by influencing the leaf carbon, while the soil’s available phosphorus and the mean annual temperature had a direct positive effect on stability, and the soil’s total nitrogen had a negative effect on stability. In general, the soil nutrient content was high in areas with a low mean annual temperature and high precipitation, and the ecosystem stability in the area distribution of typical desert vegetation in the Qaidam Basin was low. These findings reveal that soil nutrients affect the stability of desert ecosystems directly or indirectly through plant nutrients in the Qaidam Basin, which is crucial for maintaining the stability of desert ecosystems with the background of climate change.

Coral reef bleaching events have become more frequent all over the world and pose a serious threat to coral reef ecosystems. Therefore, there is an urgent need for better detection of coral reef bleaching in a time- and cost-saving manner. In recent years, remote sensing technology has often been utilized and gained recognition for coral reef bleaching detection. However, bleaching corals in the water always have weak spectral change signals, causing difficulties in using remote sensing data. Additionally, uneven change samples make it challenging to adequately capture the details of coral reef bleaching detection and produce thematic maps. To resolve these problems, a novel method named coral reef bleaching detection by positive-unlabeled bagging (CBD-PUB) is proposed in this paper. To test the capacity of the method, a series of multi-temporal Sentinel-2 remote sensing images are utilized, and Lizard Island in Australia is taken as a case study area. The pseudo-invariant feature atmospheric correction (PIF) algorithm is adopted to improve coral reef bleaching spectral signals. After that, CBD-PUB is employed to effectively explore coral reef bleaching variation and its corresponding influence relations. The experimental results show that the overall accuracy of bleaching detection by the proposed algorithm reaches 92.1% and outperforms the traditional method. It fully demonstrates the feasibility of the model for the field of coral reef bleaching detection and provides assistance in the monitoring and protection of coral environments.

Cytochromes P450 (CYP) and UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGT) are two enzyme families that play an important role in drug metabolism, catalyzing either the functionalization or glucuronidation of xenobiotics. However, their mutual interactions are poorly understood. In this study, the functional interactions of human CYP2D6 with four human UGTs (UGT1A7, UGT1A8, UGT1A9, and UGT2A1) were investigated using our previously established co-expression model system in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. The substrate employed was propranolol because it is well metabolized by CYP2D6. Moreover, the CYP2D6 metabolite 4-hydroxypropranolol is a known substrate for the four UGTs included in this study. Co-expression of either UGT1A7, UGT1A8, or UGT1A9 was found to increase the activity of CYP2D6 by a factor of 3.3, 2.1 or 2.8, respectively, for the conversion of propranolol to 4-hydroxypropranolol. In contrast, UGT2A1 co-expression did not change CYP2D6 activity. On the other hand, the activities of all four UGTs were completely suppressed by co-expression of CYP2D6. This data corroborates our previous report that CYP2D6 is involved in functional CYP-UGT interactions and suggest that such interactions can contribute to both adverse drug reactions and changes in drug efficacy.

This paper presents a detailed study including LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating, geochemical, zircon Hf isotope, and whole rock Sr-Nd isotope analysis of magmatic rocks from the Yitong County, Jilin Province, NE China. These data are used to better constrain the Middle Silurian–Middle Devonian tectonic evolution in the eastern segment of the northern margin of the North China Craton (NCC). Zircon U-Pb dating results show that the Ximangzhang tonalite formed in the Late Silurian (425 ± 6 Ma); the basalt, andesite, and metamorphic olivine-bearing basalt in the Fangniugou volcanic rocks formed in the Middle Silurian (428 ± 6.6 Ma) and Middle Devonian (388.4 ± 3.9 Ma, and 384.1 ± 4.9 Ma). The Late Silurian tonalites are characterized by high SiO2 and Na2O and low K2O, MgO, FeOT, and TiO2, with an A/CNK ratio of 0.91–1.00, characteristic of calc-alkaline I-type granite. They are enriched in Rb, Ba, Th, U, and K, and depleted in Nb, Sr, P, and Ti, with positive εNd(t) (+0.35) and εHf(t) (+0.44 to +6.31) values, suggesting that they mainly originated from the partial melting of Meso–Neoproterozoic accretionary lower crustal material (basalt). The Middle Silurian basalts are characterized by low SiO2, P2O5, TiO2, and Na2O and high Al2O3, FeOT, and K2O, enriched in Rb, Ba, Th, U, and K and depleted in Nb, Ta, Sr, P, and Ti, indicative of shoshonitic basalt. The Late Silurian tonalites have positive εNd(t) (+4.91 to +6.18) values and primarily originated from depleted mantle magmas metasomatized by subduction fluids, supplemented by a small amount of subducted sediments and crustal materials. The Middle Devonian volcanic rocks exhibit low SiO2, TiO2, and Na2O and high K2O, and MgO, enriched in Rb, K, and LREEs and depleted in Nb, Ta, Sr, and HREEs, characteristic of shoshonitic volcanic rocks. Their εNd(t) (+2.11 to +3.77) and εHf(t) (+5.90 to +11.73) values are positive. These characteristics indicate that the Middle Devonian volcanic rocks primarily originated from depleted mantle magmas metasomatized by subduction fluids, with the addition of crustal materials or subducted sediments during their formation. Based on regional geological data, it is believed that the study area underwent the following evolutionary stages during the Silurian–Devonian period: (1) active continental margin stage of southward subduction of the Paleo–Asian Ocean (PAO) (443–419 Ma); (2) arc-continent collision stage (419–405 Ma); (3) post-collision extension stage (404–375 Ma); (4) active continental margin stage, with the PAO plate subducting southward once again (375–360 Ma).

In this study examining the effects of temperature and dissolved oxygen (DO) on arsenic (As) release at the sediment–water interface (SWI), it was found that an increase in temperature promoted the formation of an anaerobic environment and the reduction and desorption of As fractions within the sediments. A temperature of 32 °C was the most favorable condition for As release at the SWI, and low DO conditions aggravated this process. Even under high DO conditions, the release of sediment As was significantly accelerated under high-temperature conditions, allowing dissolved As to rapidly migrate to the overlying water. In this process, the release of As from sediments was a consequence of the transformation of As fractions in the sediments.

Nitrogen (N), as the main component of biological macromolecules, maintains the basic process of plant growth and development. GOGAT, as a key enzyme in the N assimilation process, catalyzes α-ketoglutaric acid and glutamine to form glutamate. In this study, six GOGAT genes in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were identified and classified into two subfamilies, Fd-GOGAT (TaGOGAT2s) and NADH-GOGAT (TaGOGAT3s), according to the type of electron donor. Subcellular localization prediction showed that TaGOGAT3-D was localized in mitochondria and that the other five TaGOGATs were localized in chloroplasts. Via the analysis of promoter elements, many binding sites related to growth and development, hormone regulation and plant stress resistance regulations were found on the TaGOGAT promoters. The tissue-specificity expression analysis showed that TaGOGAT2s were mainly expressed in wheat leaves and flag leaves, while TaGOGAT3s were highly expressed in roots and leaves. The expression level of TaGOGATs and the enzyme activity of TaGOGAT3s in the leaves and roots of wheat seedlings were influenced by the treatment of N deficiency. This study conducted a systematic analysis of wheat GOGAT genes, providing a theoretical basis not only for the functional analysis of TaGOGATs, but also for the study of wheat nitrogen use efficiency (NUE).

The study of formation pressure holds great significance for both exploration and development. The formation pressure coefficient is a crucial parameter in geology, encompassing various aspects. Numerous models exist to explore its influencing factors, yet they remain highly controversial. Our research has gathered data on formation pressure states and tectonic movement rates from dozens of large sedimentary basins worldwide. We delved into the patterns of formation pressure changes during basin deposition, subsidence, and tectonic uplift, taking into account the permeability of formation water. The findings reveal that during the Neogene and beyond, rapid deposition or tectonic uplift can cause the infiltration of formation water to lag behind tectonic movements, resulting in overpressure. Conversely, if recent tectonic movements are slow, formation water will complete its infiltration process ahead of tectonic changes, bringing the formation pressure to a hydrostatic state. Consequently, we have concluded that abnormal formation pressure primarily depends on the rate of tectonic movements during the Neogene and Quaternary periods. This study also proposes four formation pressure models, paving the way for a comprehensive understanding of formation pressure within a unified theoretical framework.

This paper focuses on the selection and application of scale inhibitor by studying the problem of pipeline scaling in geothermal well development. Adding scale inhibitor can effectively reduce the treatment cost and achieve a good scale resistance effect, but the commonly used polyaspartic acid scale inhibitor has problems such as poor scale inhibition effect and large use limitations. Therefore, a new modified polyaspartic acid scale inhibitor (His-Tyr-SA-PASP) was prepared using polysuccinimide (PSI) as the raw material and histidine (His), tyrosine (Tyr), and sulfonic acid (SA) as the modification reagent. When the dosage of His-Tyr-SA-PASP was 8 mg/L, the scale inhibition rate of CaCO3 was 94.40%. In addition, the scale inhibition effect of His-Tyr-SA-PASP on CaCO3 was better than that of PASP. At the same time, under the condition of a static experiment at 75 °C, according to the ion concentration of water samples in different scale zones, this paper also identified the ratio of four composite scale inhibitors. When the dosage of compound scale inhibitor was 100 mg/L, Sodium of Polyaspartic Acid–Diethylene Triamine Penta (Methylene Phosphonic Acid)–2-Phosphonobutane-1,2,4-Tricarboxylic Acid–Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid–Copolymer of Maleic and Acrylic Acid = (10:10:5:1:9), (15:10:5:2.5:2.5), (12.5:5:10:1:6.5), and (15:5:10:4:1) and the scale inhibition rate was more than 95%. Under the condition of a dynamic experiment, the optimized composite scale inhibitor still showed a scale inhibition rate of more than 90%. It provides a useful reference for the practical application of water treatment in geothermal wells and has the prospect of industrial application.

Defect inspection of existing buildings is receiving increasing attention for digitalization transfer in the construction industry. The development of drone technology and artificial intelligence has provided powerful tools for defect inspection of buildings. However, integrating defect inspection information detected from UAV images into semantically rich building information modeling (BIM) is still challenging work due to the low defect detection accuracy and the coordinate difference between UAV images and BIM models. In this paper, a deep learning-based method coupled with transfer learning is used to detect defects accurately; and a texture mapping-based defect parameter extraction method is proposed to achieve the mapping from the image U-V coordinate system to the BIM project coordinate system. The defects are projected onto the surface of the BIM model to enrich a surface defect-extended BIM (SDE-BIM). The proposed method was validated in a defect information modeling experiment involving the No. 36 teaching building of Nantong University. The results demonstrate that the methods are widely applicable to various building inspection tasks.

TiO2-based catalysts with various surface heterostructures (0D, 1D, 2D, and 3D) have been widely researched owing to their cost-effectiveness, high stability, and environmentally friendly nature, and can be used for many applications in various fields, including hydrogen production and pollutant degradation. However, there are also many existing problems limiting their practical application, such as their large band gap and rapid electron–hole recombination rate. Owing to the abundance of recent achievements in materials science, we will summarize the recent structural engineering strategies which provide favorable photocatalytic activity enhancements, such as enhanced visible light absorption, stability, an increased charge–carrier separation rate and improved specific surface area. Among the various structural engineering methods in this review, we will introduce TiO2-based materials with different dimensional structures. Meanwhile, we also discuss recent achievements in synthesis methods and application of TiO2-based catalysts in various fields. We aim to display a comprehensive overview which can be a guide for the development of a new generation of TiO2-based catalysts according to their structural design for enhanced solar energy conversion.

To investigate the changes in phenols and antioxidant capacity in fermented grains during different stages of the fermentation process (Xiasha, Zaosha, and single-round stages) of Maotai-flavored liquor, the total phenolic contents of 61 samples, collected in different stages, were analyzed via the Folin–Ciocalteu method, and the phenolic compounds were then identified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Subsequently, the antioxidant activities were determined using the DPPH free radical scavenging rate and ABTS and FRAP antioxidant capacities. The correlations among the total phenolic contents, individual phenolics, and three antioxidant activities of the samples were analyzed. The results show that the total phenolic contents of the fermented samples did not change significantly in the Xiasha and Zaosha stages but showed an upward trend in the single-round stage. A total of 12 phenol acids were identified in the fermented grains, including 5 phenolic acids (e.g., ferulic acid and caffeic acid), 4 flavonoids (e.g., luteolin and apigenin), and 3 proanthocyanidins (e.g., apigeninidin), for which the DPPH free radical scavenging rates and ABTS and FRAP antioxidant capacities of all of the fermented grain samples ranged from 78.91 ± 4.09 to 98.57 ± 1.52%, 3.23 ± 0.72 to 13.69 ± 1.40 mM Trolox, and 5.06 ± 0.36 to 14.10 ± 0.69 mM FeSO4, respectively. The total phenolic contents of the fermented grain samples were significantly and positively correlated with the ABTS and FRAP (p ≤ 0.05), while no significant correlations were found between total phenolic content and DPPH. In general, the total phenolic content, phenolic substances, and antioxidant capacity of the fermented grains exhibited changes during the fermentation process in liquor production, and the phenolic components contributed more to the antioxidant properties of the fermented grains. The present study provides a theoretical reference for analyzing the dynamic changes and antioxidant properties of functional phenolic components in fermented grains.

A new dimeric C-glycoside polyketide chrysomycin F (1), along with four new monomeric compounds, chrysomycins G (2), H (3), I (4), J (5), as well as three known analogues, chrysomycins A (6), B (7), and C (8), were isolated and characterised from a strain of Streptomyces sp. obtained from a sediment sample collected from the South China Sea. Their structures were determined by detailed spectroscopic analysis. Chrysomycin F contains two diastereomers, whose structures were further elucidated by a biomimetic [2 + 2] photodimerisation of chrysomycin A. Chrysomycins B and C showed potent anti-tuberculosis activity against both wild-type Mycobacterium tuberculosis and a number of clinically isolated MDR M. tuberculosis strains.

In view of the typical requirements of large high-clearance sprayers, such as those operating in poor road conditions for farmland plant protection and at high operation speeds, reducing the vibration of sprayer suspension systems has become a research hotspot. In this study, the hydro-pneumatic suspension (HPS) of large high-clearance sprayers was taken as the object, and a variable universe T-S fuzzy controller with real vehicle vibration data as input was proposed to control suspension motion in real time. Different from traditional semi-active suspension, based on the characteristics of variable universe extension factors, a training method combining the artificial fish swarm algorithm and the back propagation algorithm was used to establish a fuzzy neural network controller with precise input to optimize the variable universe. Then, the time-domain and frequency-domain response characteristics of HPS were analyzed by simulating the special road conditions typical of farmland. Finally, the field performance of the sprayer equipped with the new controller was tested. The results show that the error rate of the AFSA-BP algorithm in training the FNN could be reduced to 3.9%, and compared with a passive suspension system, the T-S fuzzy controller improved the effects of spring mass acceleration, pitch angle acceleration, and roll angle acceleration by 18.3%, 23.3%, and 27.7%, respectively, verifying the effectiveness and engineering practicality of the active controller in this study.

Amid the current global trend toward urbanization, there is a growing need for an improved quality of life. While rural public spaces are essential components of community life, their design and planning have traditionally focused on material aspects, neglecting the spiritual well-being of rural residents. This study uses the public spaces of Huixingtou Village in Handan City, Hebei Province, China, as an example to investigate the impact of five key elements within rural public spaces (architecture, streets, greenery, nodes, and landmarks) on individual emotions and perceptions, exploring how these elements contribute to the satisfaction of individuals’ spiritual lives. Initially, we compared the disparities among these elements concerning perceptual dimensions (functionality, technology, and aesthetics) and emotional dimensions (sense of achievement, safety, and well-being). This analysis revealed significant variations in emotional and perceptual dimensions influenced by different rural public space elements. Subsequently, we examined the associations between these elements and objective physiological response data from participants, using eye-tracking technology to delve into the interplay between emotions and perceptions. The results indicate that distinct rural public space elements elicit specific emotional responses, with visual elements and features exerting a pronounced influence on emotional reactions. This in-depth analysis provides comprehensive recommendations for emotional design strategies. Ultimately, this study furnishes emotionally driven design strategies for rural public spaces based on objective data, offering practical guidance for sustainable development and the enhancement of rural public space quality. These findings have significant implications for creating more attractive, inclusive, and sustainable rural spatial environments, addressing the needs of individuals seeking a high and enhanced quality of life.

With the increasingly demanding engine conditions and the implementation of “double carbon” policies, the demand for high-quality lubricants that are cost-effective and environmentally friendly is increasing. Additives, especially high-performance friction modifiers, play an important role in boosting lubricant efficiency and fuel economy, so their developments are at the forefront of lubrication technologies. In this study, 1,3-dioleoamide-2-propyloleate (DOAPO), which incorporates polar amide, ester, and nonpolar alkyl chains, was synthesized from 1,3-diamino-2-propanol to give an eco-friendly organic friction modifier. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), high-resolution mass spectrometry (HR-MS), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were used to characterize the structure and thermal stability of DOAPO. Meanwhile, the storage stability and tribological behaviors of DOAPO in synthetic base oil were studied and compared with a commercial oleamide. The results show that DOAPO has better thermal stability and better storage stability in synthetic base oil. Additionally, 0.5 wt.% of DOAPO could shorten the running-in period and reduce the average friction coefficient (ave. COF) and wear scar diameter (ave. WSD) by 8.2% and 16.2%, respectively. The worn surface analysis and theoretical calculation results show that the ester bond in DOAPO breaks preferentially during friction, which can reduce the interfacial shear force and easily react with metal surfaces to form iron oxide films, thus demonstrating a better friction-reducing and anti-wear performance.

To alleviate the contradiction between high-density urban spatial environments and high-frequency citizens’ activities, it is vital to determine the degree of openness of waterfront space, figure out the matching relationship between spatial openness and vitality intensity, identify imbalanced spatial zones and divide the order of intervention, and compensate for the limitations of subjective judgment in traditional planning decisions. This paper uses the Changsha Xiangjiang River waterfront space as a research sample based on multi-source data. It constructs the evaluation indicators system and research framework for the degree of openness of waterfront space. Then, by evaluating the openness and vitality intensity of the waterfront space and adopting the quadrant division method, waterfront space zones with a mismatched openness and vitality intensity were identified. Finally, planning interventions are prioritized based on a priority index. The results show the following: (1) The openness and vitality of the waterfront space of Xiangjiang River show the spatial distribution characteristics of “high in the middle and low in the north and south” and “high on the east bank and low on the west bank”. (2) Fifteen low-quality waterfront spatial zones with “low vitality intensity and low openness” and one with a severe imbalance of “low openness–high vitality intensity” were identified. These waterfront spatial zones cannot meet the requirements for the high-quality development of waterfront space. (3) The study delineates five priority levels for planning interventions. Among them, three waterfront space zones belong to priority V, mainly distributed north and south of the Xiangjiang River. Five waterfront spatial zones belonging to priority IV are concentrated in the middle of the Xiangjiang River. The above areas need to be prioritized for improvement to accurately promote the overall balanced development of the waterfront space.

The use of solar interface evaporation for seawater desalination or sewage treatment is an environmentally friendly and sustainable approach; however, achieving efficient solar energy utilization and ensuring the long-term stability of the evaporation devices are two major challenges for practical application. To address these issues, we developed a novel ceramic fiber@bioderived carbon composite aerogel with a continuous through-hole structure via electrospinning and freeze-casting methods. Specifically, an aerogel was prepared by incorporating perovskite oxide (Ca0.25La0.5Dy0.25)CrO3 ceramic fibers (CCFs) and amylopectin-derived carbon (ADC). The CCFs exhibited remarkable photothermal conversion efficiencies, and the ADC served as a connecting agent and imparted hydrophilicity to the aerogel due to its abundant oxygen-containing functional groups. After optimizing the composition and microstructure, the (Ca0.25La0.5Dy0.25)CrO3 ceramic fiber@biomass-derived carbon aerogel demonstrated remarkable properties, including efficient light absorption and rapid transport of water and solutes. Under 1 kW m−2 light intensity irradiation, this novel material exhibited a high temperature (48.3 °C), high evaporation rate (1.68 kg m−2 h−1), and impressive solar vapor conversion efficiency (91.6%). Moreover, it exhibited long-term stability in water evaporation even with highly concentrated salt solutions (25 wt%). Therefore, the (Ca0.25La0.5Dy0.25)CrO3 ceramic fiber@biomass-derived carbon aerogel holds great promise for various applications of solar interface evaporation.

In order to understand the role of microorganisms in litter decomposition and the nutrient cycle in volcanic forest ecosystems, the dominant forest species Larix gmelinii in the volcanic lava plateau of the Wudalianchi volcano was considered as the research object. We analyzed the response of bacterial community structure and diversity to litter decomposition for 1 year, with an in situ decomposition experimental design using litter bags and Illumina MiSeq high-throughput sequencing. The results showed that after 365 days, the litter quality residual rate of Larix gmelinii was 77.57%, and the litter N, P, C:N, C:P, and N:P showed significant differences during the decomposition period (p < 0.05). The phyla Cyanobacteria and the genus unclassified_o_Chloroplast were the most dominant groups in early decomposition (January and April). The phyla Proteobacteria, Actinobacteriota, and Acidobacteriota and the genera Massilia, Pseudomonas, and Sphingomona were higher in July and October. The microbial communities showed extremely significant differences during the decomposition period (p < 0.05), with PCoa, RDA, and litter QRR, C:P, and N as the main factors driving litter bacteria succession. Microbial functional prediction analysis showed that Chloroplasts were the major functional group in January and April. Achemoheterotrophy and aerobic chemoheterotrophy showed a significant decrease as litter decomposition progressed.

Binary transition metal oxide complexes (BTMOCs) in three-dimensional (3D) layered structures show great promise as electrodes for supercapacitors (SCs) due to their diverse oxidation states, which contribute to high specific capacitance. However, the synthesis of BTMOCs with 3D structures remains challenging yet crucial for their application. In this study, we present a novel approach utilizing a single-step hydrothermal technique to fabricate flower-shaped microspheres composed of a NiCo-based complex. Each microsphere consists of nanosheets with a mesoporous structure, enhancing the specific surface area to 23.66 m2 g−1 and facilitating efficient redox reactions. When employed as the working electrode for supercapacitors, the composite exhibits remarkable specific capacitance, achieving 888.8 F g−1 at 1 A g−1. Furthermore, it demonstrates notable electrochemical stability, retaining 52.08% capacitance after 10,000 cycles, and offers a high-power density of 225 W·kg−1, along with an energy density of 25 Wh·kg−1, showcasing its potential for energy storage applications. Additionally, an aqueous asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) was assembled using NiCo microspheres-based complex and activated carbon (AC). Remarkably, the NiCo microspheres complex/AC configuration delivers a high specific capacitance of 250 F g−1 at 1 A g−1, with a high energy density of 88 Wh kg−1, for a power density of 800 W kg−1. The ASC also exhibits excellent long-term cyclability with 69% retention over 10,000 charge–discharge cycles. Furthermore, a series of two ASC devices demonstrated the capability to power commercial blue LEDs for a duration of at least 40 s. The simplicity of the synthesis process and the exceptional performance exhibited by the developed electrode materials hold considerable promise for applications in energy storage.

Water and nitrogen management are crucial for food security and the efficient use of water and fertilizer, especially in arid regions. Three irrigation levels, namely, 80% crop water requirement (ETC) (W1), 100% ETC (W2), and 120% ETC (W3), and three nitrogen application levels, namely, 0 kg/ha (N1), 207 kg/ha (N2), and 276 kg/ha (N3), were used as the experimental treatments, and a control group, denoted as CK, was created. The results show that the maximum height achieved was 82.16 cm under W3N3. There was a single-peak variation trend throughout the growth stages of SPAD. It peaked at 58.44 under W3N3 and then at 27.9 under W2N2. The net photosynthetic and transpiration rates displayed bimodal peaks and the phenomenon of a “photosynthetic midday depression”. And the prominent peaks in leaf water use efficiency occurred at 14:00 and 18:00, alongside noteworthy enhancements observed under the W3 treatment. Water and nitrogen and their interactions significantly affected the dry matter (DM) of winter wheat, with the spike accounting for the highest percentage. The W2N2 treatment demonstrated superior effectiveness in enhancing winter wheat water use efficiency, offering the potential to decrease irrigation requirements by 20% and nitrogen application by 25%. Moreover, the maximum PFPN attained under W2N2 reached 60.13, representing a noteworthy 35.25% increase compared to the control group (CK), but the HI of the W2N2 treatment only reached 0.56. The highest HI was achieved with W3N2 (0.73), and the nitrogen application of 207 kg/ha was more conducive to obtaining a higher HI. The highest yield was achieved under W3N3 (13.599 t/ha), followed by W2N2 (12.447 t/ha), and the spike proportion exceeded 60% with W2N2, and its production cost and economic benefit ratio of under 0.31 were superior to those for other treatments. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the maximum yield reached 12.944 t/ha with an irrigation amount of 3420.1 m3/ha and a nitrogen application of 251.92 kg/ha. Overall, our study suggests using an optimal water–nitrogen combination, specifically an irrigation level of 2829 m3/ha and a nitrogen application rate of 207 kg/ha, leading to increased winter wheat yields and economic benefits. These research results provide a pragmatic technique for improving winter wheat production in southern Xinjiang.

As the imbalance between power demand and load capacity in electrical systems becomes increasingly severe, investigating the temperature variations in transformers under different load stresses is crucial for ensuring their safe operation. The thermal analysis of converter transformers poses challenges due to the complexity of model construction. This paper develops a full-scale model of a converter transformer using a multi-core high-performance computer and explores its thermal state at 80%, 100%, and 120% loading ratios using the COUPLED iteration method. Additionally, to validate the simulation model, 24 FBGs are installed in the experimental transformer to record the temperature data. The results indicate a general upward trend in winding the temperature from bottom to top. However, an internal temperature rise followed by a decrease is observed within certain sections. Moreover, as the loading ratio increases, both the peak temperature and temperature differential of the transformer windings rise, reaching a peak temperature of 107.9 °C at a 120% loading ratio. The maximum discrepancy between the simulation and experimental results does not exceed 3.5%, providing effective guidance for the transformer design and operational maintenance.

Gait and balance have emerged as a critical area of research in health technology. Gait and balance studies have been affected by the researchers’ slow follow-up of research advances due to the absence of visual inspection of the study literature across decades. This study uses advanced search methods to analyse the literature on gait and balance in older adults from 1993 to 2022 in the Web of Science (WoS) database to gain a better understanding of the current status and trends in the field for the first time. The study analysed 4484 academic publications including journal articles and conference proceedings on gait and balance in older adults. Bibliometric analysis methods were applied to examine the publication year, number of publications, discipline distribution, journal distribution, research institutions, application fields, test methods, analysis theories, and influencing factors in the field of gait and balance. The results indicate that the publication of relevant research documents has been steadily increasing from 1993 to 2022. The United States (US) exhibits the highest number of publications with 1742 articles. The keyword “elderly person” exhibits a strong citation burst strength of 18.04, indicating a significant focus on research related to the health of older adults. With a burst factor of 20.46, Harvard University has made impressive strides in the subject. The University of Pittsburgh displayed high research skills in the area of gait and balance with a burst factor of 7.7 and a publication count of 103. The research on gait and balance mainly focuses on physical performance evaluation approaches, and the primary study methods include experimental investigations, computational modelling, and observational studies. The field of gait and balance research is increasingly intertwined with computer science and artificial intelligence (AI), paving the way for intelligent monitoring of gait and balance in the elderly. Moving forward, the future of gait and balance research is anticipated to highlight the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration, intelligence-driven approaches, and advanced visualization techniques.

Aluminum alloy offers the advantages of being lightweight, high in strength, corrosion-resistant, and easy to process. It has a promising application prospect in large-span space structures, with its primary application form being single-layer reticulated shells. In this study, shaking table tests were conducted on a 1/25 scale aluminum alloy single-layer spherical reticulated shell structure. A finite element (FE) model of the reticulated shell structure was established in Ansys. Compared with the experimental results, the deviation in natural frequency, acceleration amplitude, and displacement amplitude was less than 20%, confirming the validity of the model. An extensive analysis of the various rise–span ratios and connection constraints of a single-layer spherical reticulated shell structure was carried out using the proposed FE model. The experimental and simulation results showed that as the rise–span ratio of the aluminum alloy reticulated shell increases, the natural frequency of the reticulated shell structure also increases while the dynamic performance decreases. The connection of the circumferential members changes from a rigid connection to a hinged connection. The natural frequency of the reticulated shell structure is reduced by about 40% while the acceleration and displacement response values are decreased by approximately 15%.

In response to potential denial environments such as canyons, gullies, islands, and cities where users are located, traditional Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) systems can still maintain core requirements such as availability, reliability, and sustainability in the face of complex electromagnetic environments and non-line-of-sight environments that may cause service degradation or even failure. This paper presents a single-station emergency solution that integrates communication and TT&C (IC&T) functions based on radar chaff cloud technology. Firstly, a suitable selection of frequency bands and modulation methods is provided for the emergency IC&T system to ensure compatibility with existing communication and TT&C systems while catering to the future needs of IC&T. Subsequently, theoretical analyses are conducted on the communication link transmission loss, data transmission, code tracking accuracy, and anti-multipath model of the emergency IC&T system based on the chosen frequency band and modulation mode. This paper proposes a dual-way asynchronous precision ranging and time synchronization (DWAPR&TS) system employing dual one-way ranging (DOWR) measurement, a dual-way asynchronous incoherent Doppler velocity measurement (DWAIDVM) system, and a single baseline angle measurement system. Next, we analyze the physical characteristics of the radar chaff and establish a dynamic model of spherical chaff cloud clusters based on free diffusion. Additionally, we provide the optimal strategy for deploying chaff cloud. Finally, the emergency IC&T application based on the radar chaff cloud relay is simulated, and the results show that for severe interference, taking drones as an example, under a measurement baseline of 100 km, the emergency IC&T solution proposed in this paper can achieve an accuracy range of approximately 100 m, a velocity accuracy of 0.1 m/s, and an angle accuracy of 0.1°. In comparison with existing TT&C system solutions, the proposed system possesses unique and potential advantages that the others do not have. It can serve as an emergency IC&T reference solution in denial environments, offering significant value for both civilian and military applications.

A series of quaternary ammonium or phosphonium salts were applied as zeolite growth modifiers in the synthesis of hierarchical ZSM-5 zeolite. The results showed that the use of methyltriphenylphosphonium bromide (MTBBP) could yield nano-sized hierarchical ZSM-5 zeolite with a “rice crust” morphology feature, which demonstrates a better catalytic performance than other disinfect candidates. It was confirmed that the addition of MTBBP did not cause discernable adverse effects on the microstructures or acidities of ZSM-5, but it led to the creation of abundant meso- to marco- pores as a result of aligned tiny particle aggregations. Moreover, the generation of the special morphology was believed to be a result of the coordination and competition between MTBBP and Na+ cations. The as-synthesized hierarchical zeolite was loaded with Zn and utilized in the propane aromatization reaction, which displayed a prolonged lifetime (1430 min vs. 290 min compared with conventional ZSM-5) and an enhanced total turnover number that is four folds of the traditional one, owing to the attenuated hydride transfer reaction and slow coking rate. This work provides a new method to alter the morphological properties of zeolites with low-cost disinfectants, which is of great potential for industrial applications.

People with blindness and low vision (pBLV) encounter substantial challenges when it comes to comprehensive scene recognition and precise object identification in unfamiliar environments. Additionally, due to the vision loss, pBLV have difficulty in accessing and identifying potential tripping hazards independently. Previous assistive technologies for the visually impaired often struggle in real-world scenarios due to the need for constant training and lack of robustness, which limits their effectiveness, especially in dynamic and unfamiliar environments, where accurate and efficient perception is crucial. Therefore, we frame our research question in this paper as: How can we assist pBLV in recognizing scenes, identifying objects, and detecting potential tripping hazards in unfamiliar environments, where existing assistive technologies often falter due to their lack of robustness? We hypothesize that by leveraging large pretrained foundation models and prompt engineering, we can create a system that effectively addresses the challenges faced by pBLV in unfamiliar environments. Motivated by the prevalence of large pretrained foundation models, particularly in assistive robotics applications, due to their accurate perception and robust contextual understanding in real-world scenarios induced by extensive pretraining, we present a pioneering approach that leverages foundation models to enhance visual perception for pBLV, offering detailed and comprehensive descriptions of the surrounding environment and providing warnings about potential risks. Specifically, our method begins by leveraging a large-image tagging model (i.e., Recognize Anything Model (RAM)) to identify all common objects present in the captured images. The recognition results and user query are then integrated into a prompt, tailored specifically for pBLV, using prompt engineering. By combining the prompt and input image, a vision-language foundation model (i.e., InstructBLIP) generates detailed and comprehensive descriptions of the environment and identifies potential risks in the environment by analyzing environmental objects and scenic landmarks, relevant to the prompt. We evaluate our approach through experiments conducted on both indoor and outdoor datasets. Our results demonstrate that our method can recognize objects accurately and provide insightful descriptions and analysis of the environment for pBLV.

Intensive economic and human activities present challenges to the carbon storage capacity of terrestrial ecosystems, particularly in arid regions that are sensitive to climate change and ecologically fragile. Therefore, accurately estimating and simulating future changes in carbon stocks on the northern slope economic belt of Tianshan Mountains (NSEBTM) holds great significance for maintaining ecosystem stability, achieving high-quality development of the economic belt, and realizing the goal of “carbon neutrality” by 2050. This study examines the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the NSEBTM carbon stocks in arid regions from 1990 to 2050, utilizing a combination of multi-source data and integrating the Patch-generating Land use Simulation (PLUS) and Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Trade-offs (InVEST) models. Additionally, an attribution analysis of carbon stock changes is conducted by leveraging land use data. The findings demonstrate that (1) the NSEBTM predominantly consists of underutilized land, accounting for more than 60% of the total land area in the NSEBTM. Unused land, grassland, and water bodies exhibit a declining trend over time, while other forms of land use demonstrate an increasing trend. (2) Grassland serves as the primary reservoir for carbon storage in the NSEBTM, with grassland degradation being the leading cause of carbon loss amounting to 102.35 t over the past three decades. (3) Under the ecological conservation scenario for 2050 compared to the natural development scenario, there was a net increase in carbon storage by 12.34 t; however, under the economic development scenario compared to the natural development scenario, there was a decrease in carbon storage by 25.88 t. By quantitatively evaluating the land use change in the NSEBTM and its impact on carbon storage in the past and projected for the next 30 years, this paper provides scientific references and precise data support for the territorial and spatial decision making of the NSEBTM, thereby facilitating the achievement of “carbon neutrality” goals.

Magnetization reduction roasting is an important method for the utilization of oolitic magnetite. In this study, the magnetization reduction behavior and kinetics of oolitic hematite in gas-based roasting were systematically investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results revealed that under optimal roasting conditions of 650 °C, a roasting time of 60 min, and a CO concentration of 30%, the magnetization reduction rate of the roasted product reached 44.34%. Furthermore, the weak magnetic separation concentrate presented a TFe of 58.09% and a concentrate iron recovery of 94.3%. The results of the XPS spectrum indicated that the peak area ratio (Fe2+/Fe3+) gradually increased with an increase in roasting temperature, roasting time, and CO concentration, while over-reduction occurred when the roasting temperature exceeded 750 °C. The investigation of magnetization roasting kinetics for varying particle sizes demonstrated that the magnetization reduction process is controlled by chemical reaction, with a corresponding activation energy range of 42.96 kJ/mol to 63.29 kJ/mol, indicating the particle size has little effect on the magnetization reduction of oolitic hematite.

Partitioning experiments and the chemistry of iron meteorites indicate that the light element nitrogen could be sequestered into the metallic core of rocky planets during core–mantle differentiation. The thermal conductivity and the mineralogy of the Fe–N system under core conditions could therefore influence the planetary cooling, core crystallization, and evolution of the intrinsic magnetic field of rocky planets. Limited experiments have been conducted to study the thermal properties and phase relations of Fe–N components under planetary core conditions, such as those found in the Moon, Mercury, and Ganymede. In this study, we report results from high-pressure experiments involving electrical resistivity measurements of Fe–N phases at a pressure of 5 GPa and temperatures up to 1400 K. Four Fe–N compositions, including Fe–10%N, Fe–6.4%N, Fe–2%N, and Fe–1%N (by weight percent), were prepared and subjected to recovery experiments at 5 GPa and 1273 K. These experiments show that Fe–10%N and Fe–6.4%N form a single hexagonal close-packed phase (ɛ-nitrides), while Fe–2%N and Fe–1%N exhibit a face-centered cubic structure (γ-Fe). In separate experiments, the resistivity data were collected during the cooling after compressing the starting materials to 5 GPa and heating to ~1400 K. The resistivity of all compositions, similar to the pure γ-Fe, exhibits weak temperature dependence. We found that N has a strong effect on the resistivity of metallic Fe under rocky planetary core conditions compared to other potential light elements such as Si. The temperature-dependence of the resistivity also revealed high-pressure phase transition points in the Fe–N system. A congruent reaction, ε ⇌ γ’, occurs at ~673 K in Fe–6.4%N, which is ~280 K lower than that at ambient pressure. Furthermore, the resistivity data provided constraints on the high-pressure phase boundary of the polymorphic transition, γ ⇌ α, and an eutectoid equilibrium of γ’ ⇌ α + ε. The data, along with the recently reported phase equilibrium experiments at high pressures, enable construction of a phase diagram of the Fe–N binary system at 5 GPa.

The nature of the active sites of transition metal oxides during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) has attracted much attention. Herein, we constructed well-defined nickel oxide/Au (111) model catalysts to study the relationship between the structures and their OER activity using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), electrochemical measurements, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The deposited nickel oxides on Au (111) were found to exhibit a two-dimensional (2D)/three-dimensional (3D) structure by regulating the annealing temperature. Combining STM, XPS and electrochemical measurements, our results demonstrated an optimal OER reactivity could be achieved for NiOx with a 2D structure on Au and provided a morphological description of the active phase during electrocatalysis.

Utilizing carbon dioxide as a carbon source for the synthesis of olefins and aromatics has emerged as one of the most practical methods for CO2 reduction. In this study, an improved selectivity of 85% for targeting products (ethylbenzene and propylbenzene) is achieved with a benzene conversion of 16.8% by coupling the hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to olefins over the bifunctional catalyst “Oxide-Zeolite” (OX-ZEO) and the alkylation of benzene with olefins over ZSM-5. In addition to investigating the influence of SAPO-34 and ZSM-5 zeolite acidity on product distribution, catalyst deactivation due to coke formation is addressed by modifying both molecular sieves to be hierarchical to extend the catalyst lifespan. Even after 100 h of operation at 400 °C, the catalysts maintained over 80% selectivity towards the target products, with benzene conversion over 14.2%. Furthermore, the pathway of propylbenzene formation is demonstrated through simple experimental design, revealing that the surface Brønsted acid sites of SAPO-34 serve as its primary formation sites. This provides a novel perspective for further investigation of the reaction network.

In this study, an effective numerical model was developed for the calculation of the deformation of laser-welded 3 mm 304L stainless steel plates with different gaps (0.2 mm, 0.5 mm, and 1.0 mm). The welding deformation would become larger when the welding gaps increased, and the largest deformation values along the Z direction, of 4 mm, were produced when the gap value was 1.0 mm. A larger plastic strain region was generated in the location near the weld seam, since higher plastic deformation had occurred. In addition, the tensile stress model was also applied at the plastic strain zone and demonstrated that a larger welding gap led to a wider residual stress area. Based on the above results, inherent deformations for butt and corner joints were calculated according to inherent strain theory, and the welding formation for the complex structure was calculated with different gaps. The numerical results demonstrated that a larger deformation was also produced with a larger welding gap and that it could reach the highest value of 10.1 mm. This proves that a smaller welding gap should be adopted during the laser welding of complex structures to avoid excessive welding deformation.

Total phosphorus (TP, a non-optical sensitivity parameter) has become the primary pollutant in the Yangtze River, the third largest river in the world. It is strongly correlated with turbidity (an optical sensitivity parameter) in rivers. In this study, we constructed a turbidity-mediated TP retrieval model using Sentinel-2 observations and field-measured daily-scale water quality. The model was successfully applied to estimate the temporal and spatial variations of TP concentration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River (MYR) from 2020 to 2023. Our results show: (1) the model accuracy of TP concentration retrieval with turbidity is significantly higher (R2 = 0.71, MAPE = 15.78%) than that for the model without turbidity (R2 = 0.62, MAPE = 16.38%); (2) the turbidity and TP concentration in the MYR is higher in summer and autumn than in winter and spring; and (3) the turbidity and total phosphorus (TP) concentration of the Yangtze River showed a significant increase after passing through Dongting Lake (p < 0.05).

Carbon uptake of vegetation is controlled by phenology and photosynthetic carbon uptake capacity. However, our knowledge of the seasonal responses of vegetation productivity to phenological and physiological changes in alpine ecosystems is still weak. In this study, we quantified the spatio-temporal variations of vegetation phenology and gross primary productivity (GPP) across the source region of the Yellow River (SRYR) by analyzing MODIS-derived vegetation phenology and GPP from 2001 to 2019, and explored how vegetation phenology and maximum carbon uptake capacity (GPPmax) affected seasonal GPP over the region. Our results showed that the SRYR experienced significantly advanced trends (p < 0.05) for both start (SOS) and peak (POS) of the growing season from 2001 to 2019. Spring GPP (GPPspr) had a significantly increasing trend (p < 0.01), and the earlier SOS had obvious positive effects on GPPspr. Summer GPP (GPPsum) was significantly and negatively correlated to POS (p < 0.05). In addition, GPPmax had a significant and positive correlation with GPPsum and GPPann (p < 0.01), respectively. It was found that an earlier spring-summer phenology and higher photosynthetic peak enhanced the photosynthetic efficiency of vegetation in spring and summer and altered the seasonal patterns of vegetation productivity in the SRYR under warming and wetting climates. This study indicated that not only spring and autumn phenology but also summer phenology and maximum carbon uptake capacity should be regarded as crucial indicators regulating the carbon uptake process in alpine ecosystems. This research provides important information about how changes in phenology affect vegetation productivity in alpine ecosystems under global climate warming.

With the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), maintaining data confidentiality and protecting user privacy have become increasingly challenging. End devices in the IoT are often deployed in unattended environments and connected to open networks, making them vulnerable to physical tampering and other security attacks. Different authentication key agreement (AKA) schemes have been used in practice; several of them do not cover the necessary security features or are incompatible with resource-constrained end devices. Their security proofs have been performed under the Random-Oracle model. We present an AKA protocol for end devices and servers. The proposal leverages the ECC-based key exchange mechanism and one-way hash function-based message authentication method to achieve mutual authentication, user anonymity, and forward security. A formal security proof of the proposed scheme is performed under the standard model and the eCK model with the elliptic curve encryption computational assumptions, and formal verification is performed with ProVerif. According to the performance comparison, it is revealed that the proposed scheme offers user anonymity, perfect forward security, and mutual authentication, and resists typical attacks such as ephemeral secret leakage attacks, impersonation attacks, man-in-the-middle attacks, and key compromise impersonation attacks. Moreover, the proposed scheme has the lowest computational and communication overhead compared to existing schemes.

Herbivorous insects rely on volatile chemical cues from host plants to locate food sources and oviposition sites. General odorant binding proteins (GOBPs) are believed to be involved in the detection of host plant volatiles. In the present study, one GOBP gene, ScinGOBP2, was cloned from the antennae of adult Semiothisa cinerearia. Reverse-transcription PCR and real-time quantitative PCR analysis revealed that the expression of ScinGOBP2 was strongly biased towards the female antennae. Fluorescence-based competitive binding assays revealed that 8 of the 27 host plant volatiles, including geranyl acetone, decanal, cis-3-hexenyl n-valerate, cis-3-hexenyl butyrate, 1-nonene, dipentene, α-pinene and β-pinene, bound to ScinGOBP2 (KD = 2.21–14.94 μM). The electrical activities of all eight ScinGOBP2 ligands were confirmed using electroantennography. Furthermore, oviposition preference experiments showed that eight host volatiles, such as decanal, cis-3-hexenyl n-valerate, cis-3-hexenyl butyrate, and α-pinene, had an attractive effect on female S. cinerearia, whereas geranyl acetone, 1-nonene, β-pinene, and dipentene inhibited oviposition in females. Consequently, it can be postulated that ScinGOBP2 may be implicated in the perception of host plant volatiles and that ScinGOBP2 ligands represent significant semiochemicals mediating the interactions between plants and S. cinerearia. This insight could facilitate the development of a chemical ecology-based approach for the management of S. cinerearia.

The field of carbon emissions in the construction industry has drawn extensive attention from researchers and practitioners due to the issue of global warming. In this study, an in-depth analysis of the research status, trends, and frontiers in the field of carbon emissions in the construction industry was carried out. The CiteSpace tool was used to visualize and analyze relevant papers from 1985 to 2023, to describe the overall knowledge structure in the field of carbon emissions in the construction industry using dual-map overlay analysis, journal co-citation network analysis, and keyword co-occurrence network analysis, to apply cluster analysis and burst detection to identify research trends in the field and the frontiers, and to analyze the scientific collaborations in the field. Further, the core issues in the field of carbon emissions in the construction industry were explored and relevant recommendations were proposed. The results are of great significance in identifying and analyzing knowledge systems and research patterns in the field of carbon emissions in the construction industry and help us to discover and understand the current deficiencies, trends, and frontiers in this field, thus providing useful suggestions and reflections for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and other stakeholders.

A mild and efficient protocol for visible-light-photocatalyzed C5 nitration of 8-aminoquinoline derivatives was developed utilizing Cu(NO3)2∙3H2O as a nitro source. The reaction proceeded smoothly under very mild conditions, employing Acid Red 94 and a commercial household light bulb as an organic photosensitizer and a light source, respectively, making this synthetic procedure green and easy to operate. Furthermore, most products could be obtained through recrystallization, which enhanced the operational simplicity of this method.

With the expansion of network scale, new network services are emerging. Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6) can meet the diverse needs of more new services due to its excellent scalability and programmability. In the intelligent 6-Generation (6G) scenario, frequent SRv6 Traffic Engineering (TE) policy updates will result in the serious problem of unsynchronized updates across routers. Existing solutions suffer from issues such as long update cycles or large data overhead. To optimize the policy-update process, this paper proposes a scheme called Synchronous Update with the Division and Combination of SRv6 Policy (SUDC). Based on the characteristics of the SRv6 TE policy, SUDC divides the policies and introduces Bit Index Explicit Replication IPv6 Encapsulation (BIERv6) to multicast the policy blocks derived from policy dividing. The contribution of this paper is to propose the policy-dividing and combination mechanism and the policy-dividing algorithm. The simulation results demonstrate that compared with the existing schemes, the update overhead and update cycle of SUDC are reduced by 46.71% and 46.6%, respectively. The problem of unsynchronized updates across routers has been further improved.
