The Taiji program is dedicated to the detection of middle and low-frequency gravitational waves, targeting the 0.1 mHz to 1 Hz frequency band. The project requires an acceleration residual sensitivity of 3 × 10−15 ms−2/Hz1/2, which necessitates a capacitance sensing resolution of 1 aF/Hz1/2 for the capacitive sensing system within the specified frequency range. The noise level of the resonant bridge significantly influences the resolution. Addressing the challenges in enhancing transformer performance parameters in existing resonant capacitance bridges and the constraints on improving the characteristics of resonant capacitance bridges, this study introduces a novel approach to reduce bridge thermal noise without optimizing existing parameters. The simulation results demonstrate that this scheme can reduce the noise to 0.7 times the original level and further reduce bridge thermal noise when other parameters affecting noise are optimized. This not only mitigates the demands for other performance parameters but also increases the range of maximum acceptable resonant frequency deviations and reduces its sensitivity to such variations. Experimental validation confirms that the proposed scheme effectively reduces noise by 0.7 times and improves the resolution of capacitance sensing to 0.6 aF/Hz1/2, thereby advancing the Taiji program gravitational wave detection capabilities.

This study investigated the effects of dough proofing degree (1.1, 1.3, 1.5, and 1.7 mL/g) and carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (CMC-Na) on the quality of frozen dough steamed bread (FDSB). As the dough proofing degree was increased from 1.1 to 1.7 mL/g, the specific volume of FDSB initially increased and then decreased, with the maximum at 1.3 mL/g, and then dramatically decreased at 1.5 and 1.7 mL/g, accompanied by a harder texture and secession of crust and crumb, which were the detrimental effects brought by over-proofing. The optimal amount of CMC-Na effectively alleviated the deterioration associated with over-proofing, and the proofing tolerance of FDSB was increased from 1.3 mL/g to 1.7 mL/g. Fermentation analysis showed that CMC-Na significantly improved the extensibility and gas-holding capacity of the dough by increasing the maximum height of the dough (Hm) and the emergence time (T1) of Hm. Frequency sweep tests indicated that CMC-Na improved the plasticity of proofed dough by increasing loss factor tan δ. Significant reductions were found in peak viscosity and complex modulus G* in pasting properties tests and temperature sweep measurements, respectively, suggesting that CMC-Na influenced starch gelatinization and dough stiffening during steaming, which promoted the extension of the network structure, thus facilitating gas expansion and diffusion. These property changes theoretically explained the improvement in the proofing tolerance of FDSB by CMC-Na.

An inertial sensor is a crucial payload in China’s Taiji program for space gravitational wave detection. The performance of the capacitive displacement sensing circuit in the low-frequency band (0.1 mHz to 1 Hz) is extremely important because it directly determines the sensitivity of the space gravitational wave detection missions. Therefore, significant, yet challenging, tasks include decreasing the low-frequency noise in capacitive displacement sensing circuits and improving the capacitive sensing resolution. This study analyzes the noise characteristics of the pre-amplifier circuit within the capacitive sensing circuit, achieves precise tuning of the transformer bridge, and examines how transformer parameters affect noise. In addition, this study introduces a method using a discrete JFET to reduce the operational amplifier current noise and analyzes how feedback resistance and capacitance in TIA circuits affect the overall circuit noise. The proportional relationship between different transformer noises and TIA noise before and after optimization was analyzed and experimentally verified. Finally, an optimized TIA circuit and a superior transformer were utilized to achieve an increase in the capacitive sensing resolution from 1.095 aF/rtHz @ 10 mHz to 0.84 aF/rtHz @ 10 mHz, while improving the performance by 23%. These findings provide valuable insights into further decreasing circuit noise and increasing the capacitive sensing resolution.

In the space gravitational wave detection mission, inertial sensors play the role of providing an inertial reference for the laser interferometric measurement system. Among them, the capacitance sensor serves as the core key technology of the inertial sensor, used to measure the relative position of the test mass (TM) in the electrode cage. The capacitance sensor utilizes synchronous demodulation technology to extract signals from the AC induction signal. When the phase of the demodulation switch signal is aligned, the synchronous demodulator can most effectively filter out noise, thus directly influencing the performance of the capacitance sensor. However, since the TM is in a suspended state, the information read by the capacitance sensor is dynamic, which increases the difficulty of demodulation phase alignment. In light of this, a method is proposed for achieving the phase alignment of the demodulation switch signal in a dynamic environment. This is accomplished by adjusting the phase of the demodulation switch signal, and subsequently computing the phase difference between the AC induction signal and the demodulation switch signal. At the same time, a measurement and evaluation method for phase deviation is also proposed. Ultimately, an automatic phase alignment system for the demodulation switch signal in dynamic environments is successfully implemented on an FPGA platform, and tests are conducted on a hexapod PI console platform to simulate dynamic environments. The experimental results demonstrate that the system accurately achieves phase alignment in the static environment, with a phase deviation of 0.1394 rad. In the simulated dynamic environment, the phase deviation is 0.1395 rad.

In this paper, an equimolar blend of bisphenol A dipropargyl ether and cyanate ester was selected to study the effect of different catalysts on the curing reaction of a bisphenol A dipropargyl ether and cyanate ester blended resin system, and the thermal stability and mechanical properties of the catalytically cured blended resin system were investigated. Acetylacetone salts of transition metals and dibutyl ditin laurate reduced the curing temperature of bisphenol AF-type di cyanate ester, and copper acetylacetonate at a mass fraction of 0.3% significantly reduced the curing temperature of bisphenol AF-type di cyanate ester to less than 473 K. Bisphenol A dipropargyl ether pr-polymerized and equimolarly blended with bisphenol A di cyanate ester and bisphenol E-type di cyanate ester also cured below 473 K under the same conditions. Among the cured compounds of the blended resins of bisphenol A dipropargyl ether with bisphenol AF-type di cyanate ester, bisphenol A-type di cyanate ester and bisphenol E-type di cyanate ester, the blended resins of bisphenol A-type di cyanate ester and bisphenol E-type di cyanate ester have better overall performance. The residual rate of 873 K in air was 38%, and the flexural strength, flexural modulus, and impact strength were 129.4 MPa, 4.3 GPa, and 27.3 kJ·m−2, respectively. This kind of blended resin is expected to be used in the liquid oxygen storage tanks of rockets.

Repairing cartilage defects represents a significant clinical challenge. While adipose-derived stem cell (ADSC)-based strategies hold promise for cartilage regeneration, their inherent chondrogenic potential is limited. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from chondrocytes (CC-EVs) have shown potential in enhancing chondrogenesis, but their role in promoting chondrogenic differentiation of ADSCs remains poorly understood. Moreover, the clinical application of EVs faces limitations due to insufficient quantities for in vivo use, necessitating the development of effective methods for extracting significant amounts of CC-EVs. Our previous study demonstrated that low-intensity ultrasound (LIUS) stimulation enhances EV secretion from mesenchymal stem cells. Here, we identified a specific LIUS parameter for chondrocytes that increased EV secretion by 16-fold. CC-EVs were found to enhance cell activity, proliferation, migration, and 21-day chondrogenic differentiation of ADSCs in vitro, while EVs secreted by chondrocytes following LIUS stimulation (US-CC-EVs) exhibited superior efficacy. miRNA-seq revealed that US-CC-EVs were enriched in cartilage-regeneration-related miRNAs, contributing to chondrogenesis in various biological processes. In conclusion, we found that CC-EVs can enhance the chondrogenesis of ADSCs in vitro. In addition, our study introduces ultrasound-driven healing as an innovative method to enhance the quantity and quality of CC-EVs, meeting clinical demand and addressing the limited chondrogenic potential of ADSCs. The ultrasound-driven healing unleashes the potential of CC-EVs for chondrogenesis possibly through the enrichment of cartilage-regeneration-associated miRNAs in EVs, suggesting their potential role in cartilage reconstruction. These findings hold promise for advancing cartilage regeneration strategies and may pave the way for novel therapeutic interventions in regenerative medicine.

This paper presents a process for efficiently recovering palladium (Pd) from spent Pd/Al2O3 catalysts used for hydrogenation reactions, using ultrasound-assisted leaching (UAL). A system composed of H2SO4 and NaCl was investigated under ultrasound-enhanced conditions and compared to regular leaching methods to demonstrate the superiority of UAL. Single-factor experiments were conducted to determine the optimal conditions for leaching, which included an ultrasound power of 200 W, a liquid–solid ratio of 5:1, a leaching time of 1 h, a leaching temperature of 60 °C, H2SO4 concentration of 60%, and 0.1 mol of NaCl. The leaching rate under these conditions was found to be 99%. Additionally, kinetic analysis of the UAL process showed that the apparent activation energy of the Pd leaching reaction was 28.7 kJ/mol, and it was found that Pd leaching from spent catalysts was controlled by diffusion. The tailings were analyzed by SEM, revealing that during ultrasonic leaching, the specific surface area of the spent catalyst increased, the mass transfer rate of the solution was accelerated, the passivation film on the surface of the spent catalyst was peeled off, and a new reaction interface was formed. This improved the leaching rate of Pd and provided a new approach to efficiently leach precious metals such as Pd from spent catalysts.

Precipitation with high spatial and temporal resolution can improve the defense capability of meteorological disasters and provide indispensable instruction and early warning for social public services, such as agriculture, forestry, and transportation. Therefore, a deep learning-based algorithm entitled precipitation retrieval from satellite observations based on Transformer (PRSOT) is proposed to fill the observation gap of ground rain gauges and weather radars in deserts, oceans, and other regions. In this algorithm, the multispectral infrared brightness temperatures from Himawari-8, the new-generation geostationary satellite, have been used as predictor variables and the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) precipitation product has been employed to train the retrieval model. We utilized two data normalization schemes, area-based and pixel-based normalization, and conducted comparative experiments. Comparing the estimated results with the GPM product on the test set, PRSOT_Pixel_based model achieved a Probability Of Detection (POD) of 0.74, a False Alarm Ratio (FAR) of 0.44 and a Critical Success Index (CSI) of 0.47 for two-class metrics, and an Accuracy (ACC) of 0.75 for multi-class metrics. Pixel-based normalization is more suitable for meteorological data, highlighting the precipitation characteristics and obtaining better comprehensive retrieval performance in visualization and evaluation metrics. In conclusion, the proposed PRSOT model has made a remarkable and essential contribution to precipitation retrieval and outperforms the benchmark machine learning model Random Forests.

In space gravitational-wave-detection missions, inertial sensors are used as the core loads, and their acceleration noise needs to reach 3×10−15 ms−2/Hz at a frequency of 0.1 mHz, which corresponds to the capacitive sensing system; the capacitive sensing noise on the sensitive axis needs to reach 1 aF/Hz. Unlike traditional circuit noise evaluation, the noise in the mHz frequency band is dominated by the thermal noise and the 1/f noise of the device, which is a challenging technical goal. In this paper, a low-frequency, high-precision resonant capacitor bridge method based on a planar transformer is used. Compared with the traditional winding transformer, the developed planar transformer has the advantages of low temperature drift and low 1/f noise. For closed-loop measurements of capacitive sensing circuits and sensitive structures, the minimum capacitive resolution in the time domain is about 3 aF, which is far lower than the scientific measurement resolution requirement of 5.8 fF for gravitational wave detection. The capacitive sensing noise is converted to 1.095 aF/Hz in the frequency band of 10 mHz–1 Hz. Although there is a gap between the closed-loop measurement results and the final index, the measurement environment is an experimental condition without temperature control on the ground; additionally, in China, the measurement integrity and actual measurement results of the capacitive sensing function have reached a domestic leading level. This is the realization of China’s future space gravitational wave exploration.

Since the concept of artificial intelligence was introduced in 1956, AI technology has been gradually applied in various fields, including journalism. This paper focuses on research related to AI news anchors, and two correlated experiments are applied to examine audiences’ perceived attractiveness of AI news anchors from a psychological dimension. Study 1 focuses on the different variables that influence the behavioral willingness of AI news anchor viewers, while Study 2 focuses on the mediating and moderating variables that influence audiences’ psychological changes. The results indicate that non-humanoid female AI news anchors who use anthropomorphic voices to broadcast news obtain the highest perceived attractiveness among audiences. Additionally, the mediating effect of perceived attractiveness and the negative moderating effect on the inherent impression of traditional news anchors are both verified in the study. Based on the research findings, the implications and suggestions are addressed accordingly.

Twin-field quantum key distribution (TF-QKD) has attracted considerable attention because it can exceed the basic rate-distance limit without quantum repeaters. Its variant protocol, sending or not-sending quantum key distribution (SNS-QKD), not only fixes the security vulnerability of TF-QKD, but also can tolerate large misalignment errors. However, the current SNS-QKD protocol is based on the active decoy-state method, which may lead to side channel information leakage when multiple light intensities are modulated in practice. In this work, we propose a passive decoy-state SNS-QKD protocol to further enhance the security of SNS-QKD. Numerical simulation results show that the protocol not only improves the security in source, but also retains the advantages of tolerating large misalignment errors. Therefore, it may provide further guidance for the practical application of SNS-QKD.

An improved mathematical model and an improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) are proposed for the complex design parameters and conflicting design goals of the indoor luminaire layout (ILL) problem. The ILL problem is formulated as a nonlinear constrained mixed-variable optimization problem that has four decision variables. For a general lighting scheme (GLS), the number and location of luminaires can be uniquely determined by optimizing four decision variables, which avoid using program loops to determine the number of luminaires. We improve the particle swarm optimization (PSO) in three aspects: (1) up-down probabilistic rounding (UDPR) method proposed to solve mixed integer, (2) improving the velocity of the best global particle, and (3) using nonlinear inertia weights with random items. The IPSO has better optimization results in an office study compared with the PSO and genetic algorithm (GA). The results are validated by DIALux simulation software, and a maximum deviation of 2.2% is found. The validated results show that the method using four decision variables increased the speed by 10.6% and the success rate by 23.33%. Furthermore, Indoor Luminaire Layout System APP is designed to provide guidelines visually for lighting designers and related researchers.

Extruded starch could be used as a thickener for food processing due to its pre-gel properties. This study aimed to explore the influence of the addition of extruded endogenous Tartary buckwheat starch (ES) on the process and quality of gluten-free noodles. ES was mixed with Tartary buckwheat flour in different proportions (10–40%) to prepare the blended flour and noodles. When the content of ES was increased, the swelling power of blended flour at 90 °C had no significant changes, and the decrease in peak viscosity of blended flour was reduced. This indicated that the high-content ES could afford better thermal stability for blended flour and inhibit the swelling ability. The higher level of ES was beneficial to the formation and stabilization of dough, and the improvement of noodle tensile strength. Furthermore, there was no difference in cooking loss between noodles with 30% and 40% ES addition. The microstructure and water distribution of the noodles prepared by blended flour indicated that the gel-entrapped structure organized by the higher content ES could be closely related to the above results. In conclusion, higher ES could contribute to improving the processing properties and quality of noodles.

Dried whole wheat noodles (DWWN) are a kind of nutritious convenience food with broad market prospects. However, due to the presence of high content of unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs) and lipid degrading enzymes, the shelf life and edible quality of DWWN are easily affected. This study explored the effect of superheated steam treatment (SST-155 °C-10 s, SST-170 °C-10 s, SST-190 °C-5 s) on the lipid stability of DWWN. The lipase, lipoxygenase and peroxidase of the DWWN treated with superheated steam were completely passivated during storage. After 12 weeks of storage, the fatty acid value of DWWN increased by 35.1, 17.9, 15.9, 24.6 mg NaOH/100 g in the groups of control, SST-155 °C-10 s, SST-170 °C-10 s, SST-190 °C-5 s, respectively; whereas the content of UFAs decreased by 13.5%, 6.8%, 5.4%, and 2.7%, respectively. The content of 2-pentylfuran in the SST-155 °C-10 s, SST-170 °C-10 s, SST-190 °C-5 s group was 0.7, 0.6, and 0.4-fold than that of the control group, respectively. In addition, the total tocopherol and total volatile compounds of the SST-190 °C-5 s group were 2.4 and 0.7-fold than that of the control group, respectively. Therefore, SST should be a new technology that can improve the lipid stability of DWWN.

Cartilage-derived stem/progenitor cells (CSPCs) are a potential choice for seed cells in osteal and chondral regeneration, and the outcomes of their survival and position distribution in vivo form the basis for the investigation of their mechanism. However, the current use of in vivo stem cell tracing techniques in laboratories is relatively limited, owing to their high operating costs and cytotoxicity. Herein, we performed tri-modal in vivo imaging of CSPCs during subcutaneous chondrogenesis using upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) for 28 days. Distinctive signals at accurate positions were acquired without signal noise from X-ray computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and upconversion luminescence. The measured intensities were all significantly proportional to the cell numbers, thereby enabling real-time in vivo quantification of the implanted cells. However, limitations of the detectable range of cell numbers were also observed, owing to the imaging shortcomings of UCNPs, which requires further improvement of the nanoparticles. Our study explores the application value of upconversion nanomaterials in the tri-modal monitoring of implanted stem cells and provides new perspectives for future clinical translation.

This research explored the effect of L-cysteine on the browning of fresh wet noodles (FWN). With the increasing addition of L-cysteine (0.02–0.1%), the ΔL* decreased and Δa*, Δb* increased. The L-cysteine could reduce the pH value and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity and increase the retention rate of polyphenol of FWN. It suggested that L-cysteine could inhibit the browning of FWN by decreasing pH value, PPO activity, and the oxidation of polyphenols. In the in vitro PPO solution, the inhibitory effect of L-cysteine on PPO activity was related to the decrease in pH and the ability of chelating Cu2+. According to UPLC-TOF-MS analysis, L-cysteine could reduce the generation of browning products, which suggested that L-cysteine could react with the browning intermediate product (quinone) and generate a light-colored substance (-C9H10NO4S). L-cysteine effectively inhibited the browning of FWN and had the potential to be used in noodle industry.

Humidity-controlled dehydration (HCD) was innovatively applied in this paper to control the growth of microorganisms in fresh wet noodles (FWN). Effects of HCD treatment with different temperatures (40, 60 or 80 °C), relative humidity (RH, 50%, 70% or 90%) and treatment time (5–32 min) on the total plate count (TPC), the shelf-life, and qualities of FWN were investigated. The results showed that HCD reduced the initial microbial load on the fresh noodles and extended the shelf-life up to 14–15 days under refrigeration temperature (10 °C). A 1.39 log10 CFU/g reduction for the initial TPC was achieved after HCD treatment at the temperature of 60 °C and RH of 90%. HCD with higher RH had a more positive influence on quality improvement. The L* values, the apparent stickiness, and the cooking properties of the noodle body were improved by HCD while good sensory and texture quality of noodles were still maintained after the dehydration process.

Incorporating green tea powder (GTP) into dried noodles enriched the functional characteristics of noodles. To achieve the maximum benefits from GTP, the water cooking stability of dried green tea noodles (DGTN) should be investigated. Indeed, antioxidant activities and phenolic compounds of DGTN after water cooking markedly decreased. The results showed that large GTP particles caused the increased cooking loss of DGTN, but the phenolic compound loss of DGTN prepared with them was low after cooking. Analysis of texture properties and microstructure showed that DGTN with a 2% concentration of large GTP particles formed some holes in the noodles’ network, and its breaking strength decreased. However, we observed that many GTP particles adhered to the surface of DGTN prepared with small GTP particles, and they were easier to lose after water cooking. Comprehensive analysis concluded that cooking loss, functional compounds retention and textural properties of DGTN were related to GTP particle size and concentration via the microstructure.

In order to improve its stability and catalytic rate in flour, the immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOX) was investigated in this work. The enzyme was encapsulated in calcium alginate-chitosan microspheres (CACM) using an emulsification-internal gelation-GOX adsorption‑chitosan coating method. The interaction between alginate and chitosan was confirmed by infrared spectroscopy (IR). The resultant CACM in wet state, whose morphology was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), was spherical with a mean diameter of about 26 μm. The GOX load, encapsulation efficiency and activity of the CACM-GOX were influenced by concentration of chitosan, encapsulation time and encapsulation pH. The highest total enzymatic activity and encapsulation efficiency was achieved when the pH of the adsorption medium was near the isoelectric point (pI) of GOX, approximately pH 4.0. In addition, the molecular weight of chitosan also evidently influenced the encapsulation efficiency. Storage stabilities of GOX samples were investigated continuously over two months and the retained activity of CACM-GOX was 70.4%, markedly higher than the 7.5% of free enzyme. The results reveal the great potential of CACM-GOX as a flour improver.

In this study, the effect of ultrasound on the foaming and emulsifying properties of wheat gluten as well as its electrophoretic and rheology properties were investigated. The foam capacity and foam stability of ultrasound treated wheat gluten proteins gradually increased as the treatment power increased, and were more pronounced at 100% power level. Excluding those of the raw wheat gluten, the lowest emulsifying capacity values and emulsifying stability were obtained with the samples ultrasound treated at 60% power level. In general, ultrasound treatment did not cause major changes on the protein electrophoretic patterns of gluten samples at the power levels used. Ultrasound affected the storage and the loss moduli with typical U-shape alteration.

The investigation of the fluorescence mechanism of carbon dots (CDs) has attracted significant attention, particularly the role of the oxygen-containing groups. Dual-CDs exhibiting blue and green emissions are synthesized from glucose via a simple ultrasonic treatment, and the oxidation degree of the CDs is softly modified through a slow natural oxidation approach, which is in stark contrast to that aggressively altering CDs' surface configurations through chemical oxidation methods. It is interesting to find that the intensity of the blue fluorescence gradually increases, eventually becoming the dominant emission after prolonging the oxidation periods, with the quantum yield (QY) of the CDs being enhanced from ~0.61% to ~4.26%. Combining the microstructure characterizations, optical measurements, and ultrafiltration experiments, we hypothesize that the blue emission could be ascribed to the surface states induced by the C-O and C=O groups, while the green luminescence may originate from the deep energy levels associated with the O-C=O groups. The distinct emission states and energy distributions could result in the blue and the green luminescence exhibiting distinct excitation and emission behaviors. Our findings could provide new insights into the fluorescence mechanism of CDs.
