Inorganic phosphorus (P) is a key component of soil P pools, influencing their availability and mobility. Although studies on biochar’s effect on inorganic P fractions in various soils are growing, a critical review of these findings is lacking. Herein, we conducted a quantitative meta-analysis of 74 peer-reviewed datasets, drawing general conclusions and confirming the absence of publication bias through funnel plot statistics. The results showed that biochars can influence soil inorganic P fractions, with their effects depending on biochar (i.e., feedstock, pyrolysis temperature and time, C:N ratio, pH, ash and P content) and soil-related properties (i.e., pH, texture, P content). Specifically, the addition of biochar significantly enhanced the diverse soil inorganic P fractions and P availability (as indicated by Olsen-P). Only biochars produced from wood residues and having high C/N ratios (>200) did not significantly increase the labile P fractions (water extracted soil phosphorus (H2O-P), Olsen-P, and soil calcium compounds bound phosphorus (Ca2-P)). The application of biochars derived from crop residues significantly increased the soil P associated with iron and aluminum oxides, while there was no significant effect on manure- and wood residue-derived biochars. In addition, applications of low temperature biochars and manure residue-derived biochars could increase the proportions of soil highly stable P. We identified knowledge gaps in biochar production and its potential for soil phosphorus regulation. Due to the complex processes by which biochar affects soils, more systematic evaluations and predictive methods (e.g., modeling, machine learning) are needed to support sustainable agriculture and environmental practices.

Stay-green syndrome (SGS) is an important factor that causes soybean (Glycine max) yield reduction. Despite progress being made, the regulatory mechanism remains largely unclear. Therefore, in this study, an SGS-sensitive soybean variety, “HD0702”, was employed to investigate the underlying mechanism. Transcriptomic analyses were performed in a tissue-specific manner to investigate differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in soybeans impacted by SGS and in those without SGS. A total of 1858 DEGs were identified in the pods, and 2814 DEGs were identified in the leaves. Further investigation revealed that SGS mainly affected the expression levels of key genes involved in the regulation of photosynthesis, starch and sucrose metabolism, and plant hormone signal transduction. To support this finding, the chlorophyll content of the pods was to be found increased by 320% for chlorophyll a and 260% for chlorophyll b. In leaves, soluble sugar levels significantly increased, whereas phytohormones IAA and ABA decreased in SGS pods. DEGs were classified using gene ontology (GO) terms, and photosynthesis-related genes α-glucosidase, β-mannosidase, β-amylase 5 (GmBAM5), and starch synthase 2 (GmSS2) were up-regulated. This study demonstrates a molecular and physiological basis for SGS that merits further investigation to allow for SGS management.

Background: Ammonia, a ubiquitous contaminant in aquatic ecosystems, poses multifaceted threats to fish species at elevated concentrations. Methods: In order to investigate the toxic effects of chronic ammonia stress on the liver of juvenile Micropterus salmoides, the present experiment was conducted to investigate the differences in changes in liver tissue structure, enzyme activities, and metabolomes after 28 days of ammonia exposure (0, 4, 8, and 16 mg/L). Results: The findings revealed that ammonia exposure induced significant oxidative stress in the liver, manifesting in decreased activities of antioxidant enzymes SOD and GSH-Px, elevated levels of GSH, GST, and MDA, and heightened activities of immune enzymes LZM, ALP, and ACP. An increase in ammonia concentration exacerbated liver tissue damage. Metabolome analysis further unveiled perturbations in liver metabolites of Micropterus salmoides exposed to ammonia, with Ala-His emerging as a potentially pivotal functional substance under chronic stress. Specifically, the 4 mg/L group responded to ammonia toxicity by augmenting GSH and L-Carnosine levels, the 8 mg/L group detoxified via upregulation of L-Glutamine, and the 16 mg/L group mitigated toxicity through the urea synthesis pathway. Conclusions: This research offers preliminary insights into the toxicological responses of Micropterus salmoides under chronic ammonia stress. It is suggested that the duration of ammonia concentration exceeding 4 mg/L in high-density aquaculture should not exceed 7 days.

The electrochemical conversion of glycerol into high-value chemicals through the selective glycerol oxidation reaction (GOR) holds importance in utilizing the surplus platform chemical component of glycerol. Nevertheless, it is still very limited in producing three-carbon chain (C3) chemicals, especially glyceric acid/glycerate, through the direct oxidation of its primary hydroxyl group. Herein, Pd microstructure electrodeposited on the Ni foam support (Pd/NF) is designed and fabricated to achieve a highly efficient GOR, exhibiting a superior current density of ca. 120 mA cm−2 at 0.8 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), and high selectivity of glycerate at ca. 70%. The Faradaic efficiency of C3 chemicals from GOR can still be maintained at ca. 80% after 20 continuous electrolysis runs, and the conversion rate of glycerol can reach 95% after 10-h electrolysis. It is also clarified that the dual-component interfaces constructed by the adjacent Pd and Ni sites are responsible for this highly efficient GOR. Specifically, Ni sites can effectively strengthen the generative capacity of the active adsorbed hydroxyl (OHad) species, which can steadily immigrate to the Pd sites, so that the surface adsorbed glycerol species are quickly oxidized into C3 chemicals, rather than breaking the C–C bond of glycerol; thus, neither form the C2/C1 species. This study may yield fresh perspectives on the electrocatalytic conversion of glycerol into high-value C3 chemicals, such as glyceric acid/glycerate.

This paper introduces a low-boom aircraft optimization design method guided by equivalent area distribution, which effectively improves the intuitiveness and refinement of inverse design. A gradient optimization method based on discrete adjoint equations is proposed to achieve the fast solution of the gradient information of target equivalent area distribution relative to design variables and to drive the aerodynamic shape update to the optimal solution. An optimization experiment is carried out based on a self-developed supersonic civil aircraft configuration with engines. The results show that the equivalent area distribution adjoint equation can accurately solve the gradient information. After optimization, the sonic boom level of the aircraft was reduced by 13.2 PLdB, and the drag coefficient was reduced by 60.75 counts. Moreover, the equivalent area distribution adjoint optimization method has outstanding advantages, such as high sensitivity and fast convergence speed, and can take both the low sonic boom and the low drag force of the aircraft into account, providing a powerful tool for the comprehensive optimization design of supersonic civil aircraft by considering sonic boom and aerodynamic force.

The airfoil is the foundation of an aircraft, and its characteristics have a significant impact on those of the aircraft. Conventional airfoil design mainly focuses on improving aerodynamic performance, while flying wing airfoil designs should also consider layout stability and stealth performance. The design requirements for an airfoil vary with its position on the flying wing layout aircraft based on corresponding spanwise flow field characteristics. By analyzing the spanwise flow characteristics of the flying wing, partition design models for flying wing airfoils were established in this study, and a series of flying wing airfoil designs that consider aerodynamics and aerodynamic/stealth were implemented. Then, the designed airfoils were configured on a three-dimensional X-47B layout for testing and verification. The results showed that the aerodynamic design and the aerodynamic/stealth design exhibited significant improvements in terms for aerodynamic and longitudinal trimming characteristics. However, the cruise drag performance of the aerodynamic/stealth design was slightly worse than that of the aerodynamic design, although the longitudinal moment trimming characteristics were basically the same. The stealth characteristics of the aerodynamic/stealth design had significant advantages, indicating that there were weak contradictions between the aerodynamic, stealth, and trimming requirements in the design of the flying wing.

Salinization of freshwater ecosystems is a pressing global issue. Changes in salinity can exert severe pressure on aquatic animals and jeopardize their survival. Procambarus clarkii is a valuable freshwater aquaculture species that exhibits some degree of salinity tolerance, making it an excellent research model for freshwater aquaculture species facing salinity stress. In the present study, crayfish were exposed to acute low salt (6 ppt) and high salt (18 ppt) conditions. The organisms were continuously monitored at 6, 24, and 72 h using RNA-Seq to investigate the mechanisms of salt stress resistance. Transcriptome analysis revealed that the crayfish responded to salinity stress with numerous differentially expressed genes, and most of different expression genes was observed in high salinity group for 24h. GO and KEGG enrichment analyses indicated that metabolic pathways were the primary response pathways in crayfish under salinity stress. This suggests that crayfish may use metabolic pathways to compensate for energy loss caused by osmotic stress. Furthermore, gene expression analysis revealed the differential expression of immune and antioxidant-related pathway genes under salinity stress, implying that salinity stress induces immune disorders in crayfish. More genes related to cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis, such as the Foxo, Wnt, Hippo, and Notch signaling pathways, responded to high-salinity stress. This suggests that regulating the cellular replication cycle and accelerating apoptosis may be necessary for crayfish to cope with high-salinity stress. Additionally, we identified 36 solute carrier family (SLC) genes related to ion transport, depicting possible ion exchange mechanisms in crayfish under salinity stress. These findings aimed to establish a foundation for understanding crustacean responses to salinity stress and their osmoregulatory mechanisms.

In Asian populations with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), EGFR mutations are highly prevalent, occurring in roughly half of these patients. Studies have revealed that individuals with EGFR mutation typically fare worse with immunotherapy. In patients who received EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment followed by anti-PD-1 therapy, poor results were observed. The underlying mechanism remains unclear. We used high-resolution flow cytometry and ELISA to detect the circulating level of small extracellular vesicle (sEV) PD-L1 in NSCLC individuals with EGFR mutations before and after receiving TKIs. The secretion amount of sEV PD-L1 of lung cancer cell lines with EGFR mutations under TKI treatment or not were detected using high-resolution flow cytometry and Western blotting. The results revealed that patients harboring EGFR mutations exhibit increased levels of sEV PD-L1 in circulation, which inversely correlated with the presence of CD8+ T cells in tumor tissues. Furthermore, tumor cells carrying EGFR mutations secrete a higher quantity of PD-L1-positive sEVs. TKI treatment appeared to amplify the levels of PD-L1-positive sEVs in the bloodstream. Mutation-induced and TKI-induced sEVs substantially impaired the functionality of CD8+ T cells. Importantly, our findings indicated that EGFR mutations and TKI therapies promote secretion of PD-L1-positive sEVs via distinct molecular mechanisms, namely the HRS and ALIX pathways, respectively. In conclusion, the increased secretion of PD-L1-positive sEVs, prompted by genetic alterations and TKI administration, may contribute to the limited efficacy of immunotherapy observed in EGFR-mutant patients and patients who have received TKI treatment.

Cell-cultured meat holds significant environmental value as an alternative protein source. Throughout the 21st century, cell-cultured meat has progressively penetrated commercial markets. However, a systematic review encompassing the entire field needs improvement. Employing Citespace, Vosviewer, and R-Bibliometrix software, a bibliometric analysis was used to present the research progress and general development trends of 484 articles on cell-cultured meat from 2000 to 2022 based on countries, authors, institutions, and keywords. This analysis provides ideas for the future development of cell-cultured meat in different countries or regions worldwide. Research on cell-cultured meat from 2000 to 2022 has undergone two phases: fluctuating growth (2000–2013) and rapid growth (2013–2022). Noteworthy contributions to cell-cultured meat studies emerge from author groups in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and China, with influential institutions like the University of Bath significantly impacting pertinent research. Furthermore, over the past two decades, research has leaned towards exploring topics such as “biomaterials”, “cultured”, “land use”, “public opinion”, “animal welfare”, and “food safety”. Furthermore, this study reveals differences in nomenclature between regions and institutions. “Cultured meat” is more popular in some countries than in other forms. Institutions in Asia use “cultured meat” more frequently; however, institutions in the Americas adopt “cultivated meat” and rarely adopt “in vitro meat”, and institutions in the European region have no particularly prominent tendency towards a specific nomenclature. Future research should emphasize aligning the labeling of cell-cultured meat with effective management strategies and referencing regulatory policies across various countries. For the first time, we use three different bibliometric methods to analyze temporal and spatial variation in research on cellular meat. The results of this study have a multiplier effect. We provide a theoretical basis and a practical reference for the identification of alternatives in the dual context of “food crisis and food security” and “climate crisis”. At the same time, we also provide a reference for the sustainable development of the food system.

In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for a three-component Novikov system on the line. We give a construction of the initial data (ρ0,u0,v0)∈Bp,∞σ−1(R)×Bp,∞σ(R)×Bp,∞σ(R) with σ>max3+1p,72,1≤p≤∞, such that the corresponding solution to the three-component Novikov system starting from (ρ0,u0,v0) is discontinuous at t=0 in the metric of Bp,∞σ−1(R)×Bp,∞σ(R)×Bp,∞σ(R), which implies the ill-posedness for this system in Bp,∞σ−1(R)×Bp,∞σ(R)×Bp,∞σ(R).

In this study, to solve the low accuracy of multi-space-based sensor joint tracking in the presence of unknown noise characteristics, an adaptive multi-sensor joint tracking algorithm (AMSJTA) is proposed. First, the coordinate transformation from the target object to the optical sensors is considered, and the observation vector-based measurement model is established. Then, the measurement noise characteristics are assumed to be white Gaussian noise, and the measurement covariance matrix is set as a constant. On this premise, the traditional iterative extended Kalman filter is applied to solve this problem. However, in most actual engineering applications, the measurement noise characteristics are unknown. Thus, a forgetting factor is introduced to adaptively estimate the unknown measurement noise characteristics, and the AMSJTA is designed to improve the tracking accuracy. Furthermore, the lower bound of the proposed algorithm is theoretically proved. Finally, numerical simulations are executed to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed AMSJTA.

With the development of deep learning, the Super-Resolution (SR) reconstruction of microscopic images has improved significantly. However, the scarcity of microscopic images for training, the underutilization of hierarchical features in original Low-Resolution (LR) images, and the high-frequency noise unrelated with the image structure generated during the reconstruction process are still challenges in the Single Image Super-Resolution (SISR) field. Faced with these issues, we first collected sufficient microscopic images through Motic, a company engaged in the design and production of optical and digital microscopes, to establish a dataset. Secondly, we proposed a Residual Dense Attention Generative Adversarial Network (RDAGAN). The network comprises a generator, an image discriminator, and a feature discriminator. The generator includes a Residual Dense Block (RDB) and a Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), focusing on extracting the hierarchical features of the original LR image. Simultaneously, the added feature discriminator enables the network to generate high-frequency features pertinent to the image’s structure. Finally, we conducted experimental analysis and compared our model with six classic models. Compared with the best model, our model improved PSNR and SSIM by about 1.5 dB and 0.2, respectively.

In this study, we propose a filter pruning method based on MCP (Minimax Concave Penalty) regression. The convolutional process is conceptualized as a linear regression procedure, and the regression coefficients serve as indicators to assess the redundancy of channels. In the realm of feature selection, the efficacy of sparse penalized regression gradually outperforms that of Lasso regression. Building upon this insight, MCP regression is introduced to screen convolutional channels, coupled with the coordinate descent method, to effectuate model compression. In single-layer pruning and global pruning analyses, the Top1 loss value associated with the MCP regression compression method is consistently smaller than that of the Lasso regression compression method across diverse models. Specifically, when the global pruning ratio is set to 0.3, the Top1 accuracy of the MCP regression compression method, in comparison with that of the Lasso regression compression method, exhibits improvements of 0.21% and 1.67% under the VGG19_Simple and VGG19 models, respectively. Similarly, for ResNet34, at two distinct pruning ratios, the Top1 accuracy demonstrates enhancements of 0.33% and 0.26%. Lastly, we compare and discuss the novel methods introduced in this study, considering both time and space resource consumption.

The achievement and control of desired motions in active machines often involves precise manipulation of artificial muscles in a distributed and sequential manner, which poses significant challenges. A novel motion control strategy based on self-oscillation in active machines offers distinctive benefits, such as direct energy harvesting from the ambient environment and the elimination of complex controllers. Drawing inspiration from automobiles, a self-moving automobile designed for operation under steady illumination is developed, comprising two wheels and a liquid crystal elastomer fiber. To explore the dynamic behavior of this self-moving automobile under steady illumination, a nonlinear theoretical model is proposed, integrating with the established dynamic liquid crystal elastomer model. Numerical simulations are conducted using the Runge-Kutta method based on MATLAB software, and it is observed that the automobile undergoes a supercritical Hopf bifurcation, transitioning from a static state to a self-moving state. The sustained periodic self-moving is facilitated by the interplay between light energy and damping dissipation. Furthermore, the conditions under which the Hopf bifurcation occurs are analyzed in detail. It is worth noting that increasing the light intensity or decreasing rolling resistance coefficient can improve the self-moving average velocity. The innovative design of the self-moving automobile offers advantages such as not requiring an independent power source, possessing a simple structure, and being sustainable. These characteristics make it highly promising for a range of applications including actuators, soft robotics, energy harvesting, and more.

Myocardial infarction (MI), including ST-segment elevation MI (STEMI) and non-ST-segment elevation MI (NSTEMI), is still a leading cause of death worldwide. Metabolomics technology was used to explore differential metabolites (DMs) as potential biomarkers for early diagnosis of STEMI and NSTEMI. In the study, 2531 metabolites, including 1925 DMs, were discovered. In the selected 27 DMs, 14 were successfully verified in a new cohort, and the AUC values were all above 0.8. There were 10 in STEMI group, namely L-aspartic acid, L-acetylcarnitine, acetylglycine, decanoylcarnitine, hydroxyphenyllactic acid, ferulic acid, itaconic acid, lauroylcarnitine, myristoylcarnitine, and cis-4-hydroxy-D-proline, and 5 in NSTEMI group, namely L-aspartic acid, arachidonic acid, palmitoleic acid, D-aspartic acid, and palmitelaidic acid. These 14 DMs may be developed as biomarkers for the early diagnosis of MI with high sensitivity and specificity. These findings have particularly important clinical significance for NSTEMI patients because these patients have no typical ECG changes.

Southern blight significantly impacts peanut yield, and its severity is exacerbated by high-temperature and high-humidity conditions. The mycelium attached to the plant’s interior quickly proliferates, contributing to the challenges of early detection and data acquisition. In recent years, the integration of machine learning and remote sensing data has become a common approach for disease monitoring. However, the poor quality and imbalance of data samples can significantly impact the performance of machine learning algorithms. This study employed the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) algorithm to generate samples with varying severity levels. Additionally, it utilized Fractional-Order Differentiation (FOD) to enhance spectral information. The validation and testing of the 1D-CNN, SVM, and KNN models were conducted using experimental data from two different locations. In conclusion, our results indicate that the SMOTE-FOD-1D-CNN model enhances the ability to monitor the severity of peanut white mold disease (validation OA = 88.81%, Kappa = 0.85; testing OA = 82.76%, Kappa = 0.75).

Ginseng holds high medicinal and cosmetic value, with stem and leaf extracts garnering attention for their abundant bioactive ingredients. Meanwhile, fermentation can enhance the effectiveness of cosmetics. The aim of this study was to optimize ginseng fermentation to produce functional cosmetics. Ginseng stem and leaf extracts were fermented with five different strains of lactic acid bacteria. Using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), hydroxyl radical (·OH), and superoxide anion (O2·−) scavenging activities as indicators, the fermentation process was optimized via response surface methodology. Finally, validation of the antioxidant activity of the optimized fermentation broth was performed using human skin cells (HaCaT and BJ cells). Based on the antioxidant potency composite comprehensive index, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 1.140 was selected, and the optimized parameters were a fermentation time of 35.50 h, an inoculum size of 2.45%, and a temperature of 28.20 °C. Optimized fermentation boosted antioxidant activity: DPPH scavenging activity increased by 25.00%, ·OH by 94.00%, and O2·− by 73.00%. Only the rare ginsenoside Rg5 showed a substantial rise in content among the 11 ginsenosides examined after fermentation. Furthermore, the flavonoid content and ·OH scavenging activity were significantly negatively correlated (r = −1.00, p < 0.05), while the Rh1 content and O2·− scavenging activity were significantly positively correlated (r = 0.998, p < 0.05). Both the 0.06% (v/v) and 0.25% (v/v) concentrations of the optimized broth significantly promoted cell proliferation, and notable protective effects against oxidative damage were observed in HaCaT cells when the broth was at 0.06%. Collectively, we demonstrated that ginseng fermentation extract effectively eliminates free radicals, preventing and repairing cellular oxidative damage. This study has identified new options for the use of fermented ginseng in functional cosmetics.

A dynamic gravimeter with an atomic interferometer (AI) can perform absolute gravity measurements with high precision. AI-based dynamic gravity measurement is a type of joint measurement that uses an AI sensor and a classical accelerometer. The coupling of the two sensors may degrade the measurement precision. In this study, we analyzed the cross-coupling effect and introduced a recovery vector to suppress this effect. We improved the phase noise of the interference fringe by a factor of 1.9 by performing marine gravity measurements using an AI-based gravimeter and optimizing the recovery vector. Marine gravity measurements were performed, and high gravity measurement precision was achieved. The external and inner coincidence accuracies of the gravity measurement were ±0.42 mGal and ±0.46 mGal after optimizing the cross-coupling effect, which was improved by factors of 4.18 and 4.21 compared to the cases without optimization.

Physcion can induce plant resistance to disease, and is registered to control powdery mildew by spraying in China. Seed coating is a widely applied precision method for pest prevention and control. To explore its potential in disease control and yield increase by seed coating, mixtures containing physcion and commonly used fungicides were designed and applied in a field trial. Greenhouse experiments screened the optimal concentration of physcion for seed coating an found it to be 1:50, with excellent promotion of plant growth and powdery mildew control. In field trials, seeds coated with a combinations of physcion with validamycin and pyrimidine nucleotide (2#) at 1:50 exhibited the highest emergence rate, tillering number, control effect of wheat powdery mildew, enzyme activity of ascorbate peroxidase (APX), glutathione reductase (GR), and peroxidase (POD), photosynthetic pigment content, and yield. These results provide an effective approach to wheat disease control and yield increase in wheat fields, and can lay the basis for reasonable application of physcion in Huang-huai-hai plain in China.

Straw is an agricultural byproduct that results from the production of many crops, such as cereals, yet it is often considered a waste product. However, straw has both historical precedent and future potential as an agricultural resource. In this study, we aimed to determine the effects of returning straw to the soil on rice cultivation. To this end, we used the hybrid rice variety Luliangyou Jingling as the test material to study the effect of straw return under four different nitrogen application levels (0 kg N (N1), 120 kg N/hm2 (N2), 150 kg N/hm2 (N3), and 180 kg N/hm2 (N4)) on rice tillering dynamics, leaf area index (LAI), dry matter accumulation, and yield. We found that rice under straw return had a higher number of effective panicles, along with a higher number of grains per panicle, compared to those without straw return. Additionally, the tiller number, LAI, total dry matter, and yield of rice in each main growth period under straw return were higher than those without straw return, and these values increased with an increase in nitrogen application rate. The yield was the highest at 9520.63 kg/hm2 without straw return, while the highest yield with straw return was achieved at 10,738.26 kg/hm2. Our results revealed the optimal nitrogen application level for high yield of two-line direct-seeded rice under straw return, which provides a theoretical reference for the precise reduction of fertilizer application in rice cultivation.

The polysaccharides extracted from Aspidopterys obcordata are thought to have anti-urolithiasis activity in Drosophila kidney stones. This study aimed to assess the effects of different extraction solvents on the yield, chemical composition, and bioactivity of polysaccharides from A. obcordata. A. obcordata polysaccharides were extracted by using four solutions: hot water, HCl solution, NaOH solution, and 0.1 M NaCl. The results revealed that the extraction solvents significantly influenced the extraction yields, molecular weight distribution, monosaccharide compositions, preliminary structural characteristics, and microstructures of polysaccharides. The NaOH solution’s extraction yield was significantly higher than the other extraction methods. Vitro antioxidant activity assays revealed that the NaOH solution extracted exhibited superior scavenging abilities towards DPPH and ABTS radicals and higher FRAP values than other polysaccharides. The vitro assays conducted for calcium oxalate crystallization demonstrated that four polysaccharides exhibited inhibitory effects on the nucleation and aggregation of calcium oxalate crystals, impeded calcium oxalate monohydrate growth, and induced calcium oxalate dihydrate formation. The NaOH solution extracted exhibited the most pronounced inhibition of calcium oxalate crystal nucleation, while the hot water extracted demonstrated the most significant suppression of calcium oxalate crystal aggregation. Therefore, it can be inferred that polysaccharides extracted with NaOH solution exhibited significant potential as a viable approach for extracting polysaccharides from stems due to their superior yield and the remarkable bioactivity of the resulting products.

As a photophilous plant, rice is susceptible to low-light stress during its growth. The Sichuan Basin is a typical low-light rice-producing area. In this study, eight rice varieties with different shade tolerances were studied from 2021 to 2022. The physiological adaptability and yield formation characteristics of rice were studied with respect to photosynthetic physiological characteristics and dry matter accumulation characteristics, and the response mechanism of rice to low light stress was revealed. The results showed that the shading treatment significantly increased the chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and total chlorophyll contents in the leaves of direct-seeded rice after heading, and the total chlorophyll content increased by 1.68–29.70%. Nitrate reductase (NR) activity first increased and then decreased under each treatment, and the shading treatment reduced the NR activity of direct-seeded rice. Compared to the control treatment, the peroxidase (POD) activity of each variety increased from 7 to 24 d after the shading treatment. The transketolase (TK) activity in direct-seeded hybrid rice increased under low light stress. Compared with the control, shading treatment significantly reduced the aboveground dry matter, grain number per panicle, and seed setting rate of direct-seeded rice at the full heading stage and maturity stage, thus reducing the yield of direct-seeded rice by 26.10–34.11%. However, under the shading treatment, Zhenliangyou 2018 and Jingliangyou 534 maintained higher chlorophyll content and related enzyme activities, accumulated more photosynthetic products, and reduced yield. In general, Zhenliangyou 2018 and Jingliangyou 534 still had a yield of 7.06–8.33 t·hm−2 under low light. It indicated that Zhenliangyou 2018 and Jingliangyou 534 had better stability and stronger tolerance to weak light stress and had a higher yield potential in weak light areas such as Sichuan.

The homeotic gene Antennapedia (Antp) has been identified as playing a pivotal role in the morphogenesis of the thorax and wings across various insect species. Leveraging insights from previous studies, the functional characterization of Antp in S. frugiperda was undertaken using RT-qPCR and the CRISPR/Cas9 genome-editing system. Phylogenetic analyses indicate that Antp shares a high degree of sequence homology among Lepidoptera species. The expression profile of SfAntp was detected by RT-qPCR. The results showed that SfAntp was expressed in the whole growth cycle of S. frugiperda, the expression level was the highest in the egg stage, and the expression level was higher from 12 h to 48 h. Tissue-specific expression profiling demonstrated that SfAntp was most abundantly expressed in the thoracic segments and legs. To functionally disrupt SfAntp, two sgRNA sites were designed at the first exon of SfAntp and the gene was knocked out by CRISPR/Cas9 via microinjection. The results showed that the deletion of SfAntp produced a mutant phenotype of thoracic fusion, thoracic leg defect, leg-like protrusions between the head and thoracic segments and pupation deformity. In addition, deletion of SfAntp resulted in high embryo mortality. Through DNA sequencing, it was found that the target site of the SfAntp mutant had different degrees of frameshift mutations, indicating that the mutant phenotype was indeed caused by the knockout of SfAntp.

Integrin β plays an important role in the pathogenesis of thrombosis and inflammation, and it may be a shared pathogenic mechanism between arterial and venous thromboses. With the goal of identifying new treatment targets for thrombotic diseases and specific diagnostic markers for venous thromboembolism (VTE), this prospective clinical study was performed to clarify the relationship between integrin and thrombosis. The levels of integrin β1–3, interleukin-6 (IL-6), and C-reactive protein were significantly higher in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI; n = 44) and acute VTE (n = 43) compared to healthy controls (n = 33). The IL-6 and integrin β1–3 levels were also significantly higher in the AMI group compared to the VTE and control groups. Logistic regression analysis identified IL-6 and integrin β1–3 levels as independent risk factors for thrombotic disease. Based on the receiver-operating characteristic curve, Youden index, sensitivity, and specificity, the diagnostic accuracy value for VTE was greater than 0.8 when integrins β1, β2, and β3 were combined. Overall, these results suggest that integrin β levels can contribute to improving the diagnosis and treatment of arteriovenous thrombosis.

Multifunctional materials with a coexistence of proton conduction properties, single–molecule magnet (SMM) behaviors and magneto–optical Faraday effects have rarely been reported. Herein, a new pair of Cu(II)–Dy(III) enantiomers, [DyCu2(RR/SS–H2L)2(H2O)4(NO3)2]·(NO3)·(H2O) (R–1 and S–1) (H4L = [RR/SS] –N,N′–bis [3–hydroxysalicylidene] –1,2–cyclohexanediamine), has been designed and prepared using homochiral Schiff–base ligands. R–1 and S–1 contain linear Cu(II)–Dy(III)–Cu(II) trinuclear units and possess 1D stacking channels within their supramolecular networks. R–1 and S–1 display chiral optical activity and strong magneto–optical Faraday effects. Moreover, R–1 shows a zero–field SMM behavior. In addition, R–1 demonstrates humidity– and temperature–dependent proton conductivity with optimal values of 1.34 × 10−4 S·cm−1 under 50 °C and 98% relative humidity (RH), which is related to a 1D extended H–bonded chain constructed by water molecules, nitrate and phenol groups of the RR–H2L ligand.

Cell models are one of the most widely used basic models in biological research, and a variety of in vitro cell culture techniques and models have been developed recently to simulate the physiological microenvironment in vivo. However, regardless of the technique or model, cell culture is the most fundamental but crucial component. As a result, we have developed a cell culture monitoring system to assess the functional status of cells within a biochip. This article focuses on a mini-microscope made from a readily available camera for in situ continuous observation of cell growth within a biochip and a pH sensor based on optoelectronic sensing for measuring pH. With the aid of this monitoring system, scientists can keep an eye on cell growth in real time and learn how the pH of the culture medium affects it. This study offers a new approach for tracking cells on biochips and serves as a valuable resource for enhancing cell culture conditions.

With the advent of the information age and rapid population growth, the urban transportation environment is deteriorating. Travel-route planning is a key issue in modern sustainable transportation systems. When conducting route planning, identifying the spatiotemporal disparities between planned routes and the routes chosen by actual drivers, as well as their underlying reasons, is an important method for optimizing route planning. In this study, we explore the spatial–temporal differences between planned routes and actual routes by studying the popular roads which are avoided by drivers (denoted as: PRAD) from car-hailing trajectories. By applying an improved Hidden Markov Model (HMM) map-matching algorithm to the original trajectories, we obtain the Origin-Destination (OD) matrix of vehicle travel and its corresponding actual routes, as well as the planned routes generated by the A* routing algorithm. We utilize the Jaccard index to quantify the similarity between actual and planned routes for the same OD pairs. The causes of PRADs are detected and further analyzed from the perspective of traffic conditions. By analyzing ride-hailing trajectories provided by DiDi, we examine the route behavior of drivers in Wuhan city on weekdays and weekends and discuss the relationship between traffic conditions and PRADs. The results indicate that the average accuracy of GNSS trajectory point-to-road map-matching reaches 88.83%, which is approximately 12% higher than the accuracy achieved by the HMM map-matching method proposed by Hu et al. Furthermore, the analysis of PRAD causes reveals that PRADs occurring on weekdays account for approximately 65% and are significantly associated with traffic congestion and accidents during that time. The findings of this study provide insights for future research on sustainable transportation systems and contribute to the development of improved route-planning strategies.

CAG is a burdensome and progressive disease. Numerous studies have shown the effectiveness of RUT in digestive system diseases. The therapeutic effects of RUT on MNNG-induced CAG and the potential mechanisms were probed. MNNG administration was employed to establish a CAG model. The HE and ELISA methods were applied to detect the treatment effects. WB, qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, TUNEL, and GES-1 cell flow cytometry approaches were employed to probe the mechanisms. The CAG model was successfully established. The ELISA and HE staining data showed that the RUT treatment effects on CAG rats were reflected by the amelioration of histological damage. The qRT-PCR and WB analyses indicated that the protective effect of RUT is related to the upregulation of the SHH pathway and downregulation of the downstream of apoptosis to improve gastric cellular survival. Our data suggest that RUT induces a gastroprotective effect by upregulating the SHH signaling pathway and stimulating anti-apoptosis downstream.

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a significant public health concern worldwide. Pregnant women are at high risk of severe HEV infection. Various adverse outcomes in pregnant women related to HEV infection have been well documented in low-income and middle-income countries with poor sanitation. However, previous studies have provided inconsistent conclusions regarding the effects of HEV infection on the health of pregnant women and their infants in developed countries and contemporary China. In China, previous studies on HEV in pregnant women mainly focused on anti-HEV IgM and/or anti-HEV IgG. In this study, 4244 pregnant women were retrospectively analyzed for HEV-related markers. The positive rates of HEV antigen, HEV RNA, anti-HEV IgM, and anti-HEV IgG were 0.28%, 0.54%, 0.35%, and 10.49%, respectively. Among the 467 pregnant women who tested positive for at least one HEV-related marker, 92.93% (434) were positive for anti-HEV IgG only and 0.21% (1) were positive for HEV antigen, anti-HEV IgM, and anti-HEV IgG. Although the prevalence of anti-HEV IgG significantly increased with age, the prevalence of anti-HEV IgM, HEV RNA, and HEV antigen did not differ among pregnant women of different ages. Thirty-three pregnant women were positive for at least one of anti-HEV IgM, HEV antigen, and HEV RNA, and these individuals were recently or currently infected with HEV. None of the 33 pregnant women exhibited obvious clinical symptoms. Of the 33 pregnant women, 39.39% (13) experienced adverse fetal outcomes, including preterm birth, fetal distress, and low birth weight, the incidence of which was significantly higher than in pregnant women who were not recently or currently infected with HEV. These findings suggest that maternal HEV infection may impact the health of fetuses; thus, these results may contribute to the development of appropriate public health interventions for this population.

Although land reform can be motivated by different policy objectives, it always involves the participation of many actors. Insights from New Institutional Economics suggest that individual interests that are not aligned with collective interests tend to undermine the goals of reform. This study provides a viable framework and measures for social capital, trust, and cooperation performance and their interrelationships to compensate for the existing separate analysis of these three factors and their rare application in achieving goals of collective action. We also build a strong and deepening theoretical foundation for the indicator design, providing a rich representation of social capital, trust, and cooperation performance. After being presented with variables, indicators are used to further elaborate on the variables to enhance the richness and science of the indicator design. The validation results of indicators from 12 experts and 223 respondents are to yield an average reliable coefficient as a positive sign of reliability and validity of the evaluation process with Kendall’s Co-efficient of Concordance (W) through R programming. This study emphasizes the importance of collective action for sustainable land use and effective land policy reform, a topic that remains underrepresented in most land reform analyses.

Peanut southern blight has a severe impact on peanut production and is one of the most devastating soil-borne fungal diseases. We conducted a hyperspectral analysis of the spectral responses of plants to peanut southern blight to provide theoretical support for detecting the severity of the disease via remote sensing. In this study, we collected leaf-level spectral data during the winter of 2021 and the spring of 2022 in a greenhouse laboratory. We explored the spectral response mechanisms of diseased peanut leaves and developed a method for assessing the severity of peanut southern blight disease by comparing the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) with traditional spectral indices and incorporating machine learning techniques. The results showed that the SVM model performed best and was able to effectively detect the severity of peanut southern blight when using CWT (WF770~780, 5) as an input feature. The overall accuracy (OA) of the modeling dataset was 91.8% and the kappa coefficient was 0.88. For the validation dataset, the OA was 90.5% and the kappa coefficient was 0.87. These findings highlight the potential of this CWT-based method for accurately assessing the severity of peanut southern blight.

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) holds great promise as an advanced technology for accurately predicting anti-TB drug resistance. The development of a reliable method for detecting drug resistance is crucial in order to standardize anti-TB treatments, enhance patient prognosis, and effectively reduce the risk of transmission. In this study, our primary objective was to explore and determine the potential of WGS for assessing drug resistance based on genetic variants recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). A total of 1105 MTB strains were selected from samples collected from 2014–2018 in Zhejiang Province, China. Phenotypic drug sensitivity tests (DST) of the anti-TB drugs were conducted for isoniazid (INH), rifampicin (RFP), streptomycin, ethambutol, fluoroquinolones (levofloxacin and moxifloxacin), amikacin, kanamycin, and capreomycin, and the drug-resistance rates were calculated. The clean WGS data of the 1105 strains were acquired and analyzed. The predictive performance of WGS was evaluated by the comparison between genotypic and phenotypic DST results. For all anti-TB drugs, WGS achieved good specificity values (>90%). The sensitivity values for INH and RFP were 91.78% and 82.26%, respectively; however, they were ≤60% for other drugs. The positive predictive values for anti-TB drugs were >80%, except for ethambutol and moxifloxacin, and the negative predictive values were >90% for all drugs. In light of the findings from our study, we draw the conclusion that WGS is a valuable tool for identifying genome-wide variants. Leveraging the genetic variants recommended by the WHO, WGS proves to be effective in detecting resistance to RFP and INH, enabling the identification of multi-drug resistant TB patients. However, it is evident that the genetic variants recommended for predicting resistance to other anti-TB drugs require further optimization and improvement.

To investigate changes in the yield and physiological characteristics of indica hybrid rice varieties sown on different dates, we evaluated appropriate hybrid rice varieties and their optimal sowing dates in the hilly areas of Sichuan. Three popular indica rice varieties were used as experimental materials, and five sowing dates were set uniformly locally [16 May (SD1), 23 May (SD2), 30 May (SD3), 6 June (SD4), and 13 June (SD5)] to investigate differences in the yield characteristics, growth period, and dry matter accumulation. The results showed that, over the two years, the sowing-to-heading period and overall growth period of the three varieties shortened as the sowing date was delayed, and the difference in yield between the SD1 and SD2 treatments was not significant, owing to higher material accumulation after flowering and higher assimilative material transport capacity. These varieties are both photosensitive and tolerant to low temperatures. Among the three varieties tested, the Huangyouyuehesimiao (V3) cultivar had the highest yield, with 10.75 t ha−1 under the SD2 treatment. The impact of shifting the sowing date on yield components varied. Delaying the sowing date increased and then decreased the number of effective panicles, and the number of grains per panicle and the seed setting rate decreased by differing degrees. In summary, a high yield of indica hybrid rice can be maintained by sowing between 16 and 23 May each year in the study area. It indicated that indica hybrid rice in the hilly rice-producing region of Sichuan is highly adaptable to different sowing dates.

Recently, the economic traits of Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) varieties have had a negative tendency. Meanwhile, the status of wild germplasm resources of E. sinensis is unknown, hindering the utilization of wild germplasm resources and the green development of the E. sinensis industry. Thus, the conservation of the wild E. sinensis germplasm resource is of great significance. To this end, we collected wild E. sinensis from two different river basins, the Yangtze River basin, and the Liaohe River basin, and analyzed the genetic diversity as well as the genetic differentiation in E. sinensis populations. Based on eight microsatellite markers, we found moderate genetic diversity in E. sinensis populations regardless of river basin. Based on the mitochondrial D-loop region, we found that all populations are at mutation drift equilibrium, while the Nm between any two populations is greater than 1. We hypothesized the existence of island model gene flow patterns among E. sinensis. Interestingly, genetic differentiation among E. sinensis populations was low, except that between Liaohe and Anqing or Shanghai populations. Additionally, geometric morphological analysis could distinguish E. sinensis from different basins, with an accuracy of 94.2–100%. Given the similar genetic diversity in the two basins, the genetic convergence of E. sinensis from different basins deserves further attention.

This paper presents a physical model that provides a comprehensive understanding of the motion behavior of boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) immersed in ultrapure deionized water and subjected to a series of nanosecond pulses. In a study conducted by Y. Mi et al. The authors explored the global alignment behavior of BNNSs and fitted the experimental data with an exponential decay function. However, this function lacks clear physical mechanisms and the significance of the fitting parameters remains unclear. To address this issue, we have developed a kinetic model that explicitly describes the underlying physical mechanisms. Furthermore, we propose a simplified mathematical model that not only predicts the displacement of BNNSs but also estimates the total time, velocity, and acceleration of the motion process.

Foodborne prevention and treatment of hyperuricemia (HUA) has received widespread attention. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) can improve intestinal function, while traditional medicine dandelion has the functions of detoxification and detumescence. Whether LAB fermented dandelion has any effects on HUA and the underlying mechanism is not clear. To address these questions, Lactobacillus acidophilus was selected or maximal xanthine oxidase activity. The effect of Lactobacillus acidophilus fermented dandelion (LAFD) on uric acid metabolism was evaluated by the HUA mouse model. Expression levels of UA, BUN, CRE, XOD, and inflammatory factors in serum were detected. Paraffin sections and staining were used to observe the kidney and small intestine, and mRNA expression of GLUT9, URAT1, OAT1, and ABCG2 related to uric acid metabolism were investigated. Furthermore, the intestinal flora was studied by contents of the cecum and high throughput 16S rRNA sequencing. The results showed that LAFD had a significant inhibitory effect on XOD in vitro (p < 0.01). LAFD could reduce the levels of UA, BUN, CRE, XOD, IL-1 β, IL-6, and TNF- α in serum (p < 0.05), thus inhibiting inflammatory reaction, and reducing UA by decreasing the mRNA expression of GLUT9, URAT1 in kidney and increasing the mRNA expression of OAT1 and ABCG2 in kidney and small intestine (p < 0.05). In addition, the 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis demonstrated that LAFD treatment can help restore the imbalance of the intestinal microbial ecosystem and reverse the changes in Bacterodietes/Firmicutes, Muribaculaceae, Lachnospiraceae in mice with HUA. It is suggested that the mechanism of LAFD in treating HUA may be related to the regulation of the mRNA expressions of GLUT9, URAT1, OAT1, and ABCG2 in the kidney and small intestine, as well as the regulation of intestinal flora, which provides the experimental basis for the development of new plant fermented products.

Due to the randomness of interior combustibles, wall thermal inertia, and opening factor, the fire temperature rise in high-rise residential buildings is uncertain. This study investigated 38 urban high-rise residential buildings, created the probability density functions of fire load density, opening factor, and wall thermal inertia, and constructed random fire scenarios for urban high-rise residential buildings. On this basis, relying on the Latin Hypercube Sampling method, this study further explored the probabilistic model for fire temperature rise in urban high-rise residential buildings under the action of uncertain factors, generated the possible temperature rise curves of fires in urban high-rise residential buildings and their probability distribution, and established the most representative temperature rise curve.

Blueberry is the source of a variety of bioactive substances, including phenolic compounds, such as anthocyanins, pterostilbene, phenolic acids, etc. Several studies have revealed that polyphenols in blueberry have important bioactivities in maintaining health, such as antioxidant and anti-tumor activities, immune regulation, the prevention of chronic diseases, etc. Therefore, these phenolic compounds in blueberries have been widely used in the field of healthcare, and the extraction, isolation, and purification of phenolic compounds are the prerequisites for their utilization. It is imperative to systematically review the research progress and prospects of phenolic compounds present in blueberries. Herein, the latest progress in the extraction, purification, and analysis of phenolic compounds from blueberries is reviewed, which can in turn provide a foundation for further research and usage of blueberries.

The Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites are key pathological hallmarks of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Single-point mutations associated with familial PD cause α-synuclein (α-Syn) aggregation, leading to the formation of Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites. Recent studies suggest α-Syn nucleates through liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS) to form amyloid aggregates in a condensate pathway. How PD-associated mutations affect α-Syn LLPS and its correlation with amyloid aggregation remains incompletely understood. Here, we examined the effects of five mutations identified in PD, A30P, E46K, H50Q, A53T, and A53E, on the phase separation of α-Syn. All other α-Syn mutants behave LLPS similarly to wild-type (WT) α-Syn, except that the E46K mutation substantially promotes the formation of α-Syn condensates. The mutant α-Syn droplets fuse to WT α-Syn droplets and recruit α-Syn monomers into their droplets. Our studies showed that α-Syn A30P, E46K, H50Q, and A53T mutations accelerated the formation of amyloid aggregates in the condensates. In contrast, the α-Syn A53E mutant retarded the aggregation during the liquid-to-solid phase transition. Finally, we observed that WT and mutant α-Syn formed condensates in the cells, whereas the E46K mutation apparently promoted the formation of condensates. These findings reveal that familial PD-associated mutations have divergent effects on α-Syn LLPS and amyloid aggregation in the phase-separated condensates, providing new insights into the pathogenesis of PD-associated α-Syn mutations.

In this work, gallium arsenide (GaAs), which has an adjustable band gap and low cost, was adopted as an absorption layer in which KNbO3, having good dielectric, photoelectric, and piezoelectric properties, served as a scattering element for the improvement in absorption efficiency of solar cells. Benefited by the high absorption efficiency of KNbO3, the utilization of the ultraviolet and infrared bands for solar cells can be strengthened. In addition, the ferroelectric and photovoltaic characteristics of KNbO3 enable the realization of decreased thickness of solar cells. Based on the simulation of the shape, width, and period of the scattering element, the effect of the thickness of the scattering element on the absorption efficiency, quantum efficiency, and total efficiency of absorption efficiency was comprehensively simulated. The results show that the absorption layer delivers the optimal performance when using a hexagonal KNbO3 scattering element. The absorption efficiency of the GaAs absorption layer with KNbO3 as the scattering element is increased by 28.42% compared with that of a GaAs absorption layer with empty holes. In addition, the quantum efficiency is maintained above 98% and the total efficiency is 91.59%. At the same time, the efficiency of such an absorption layer is still above 90% when the angle ranges from 0 to 70°. This work provides theoretical guidance for the rational design of solar cells based on photonic crystal structures.

By using the residual source redundancy to achieve the shaping gain, a joint source-channel coded modulation (JSCCM) system has been proposed as a new solution for probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS). However, the source and channel codes in the JSCCM system should be designed specifically for a given source probability to ensure optimal PAS performance, which is undesirable for systems with dynamically changing source probabilities. In this paper, we propose a new shaping scheme by optimizing the bit-labeling of the JSCCM system. Instead of the conventional fixed labeling, the proposed bit-labelings are adaptively designed according to the source probability and the source code. Since it is simple to switch between different labelings according to the source probability and the source code, the proposed design can be considered as a promising low complexity alternative to obtain the shaping gain for sources with different probabilities. Numerical results show that the proposed bit-labelings can significantly improve the bit-error rate (BER) performance of the JSCCM system.

Marine dynamic disasters, such as storm surges and huge waves, can cause large economic and human losses. The assessment of marine dynamic disasters is, thus, important, but improvements to its reliability are needed. The current study improved and integrated the assessment from the perspective of multi-factor coupling. Using a weighted index system, a marine dynamic disaster assessment indicator system suitable for China’s coastal waters was established, and a method for calculating the weight of disaster indicators was proposed from the perspective of rapid assessment. To reduce the assessment deviation in coastal waters, a multi-factor coupling algorithm was proposed. This algorithm obtained amplitude variations of wave orbital motion in horizontal and vertical directions, which was used to evaluate the influence of background current and terrain slope on coastal ocean waves. Landsat 8 remote sensing images were used to carry out an object-oriented extraction of raft and cage aquaculture areas in China’s coastal waters. The aquaculture density was then used as the main basis for a vulnerability assessment. Finally, the whole assessment system was integrated and verified during a typical storm surge process in coastal waters around the Shandong Peninsula in China. The coupled variations were also added to the assessment process and increased the risk value by an average of 12% in the High Sea States of the case study.

Rape-rice rotation uses large amounts of phosphate fertilizers with low utilization rates and large amounts of straw. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a suitable phosphorus fertilizer application mode for straw-returning in a rape-rice rotation system. The treatments were: P application with straw return (T2) and without straw return (T1), no P application in either rapeseed season (P1), application of 120 kg·ha−1 P2O5 on rapeseed and 90 kg·ha−1 P2O5 on rice (P2), application of 120 kg·ha−1 P2O5 only on rapeseed (P3), and application of 90 kg·ha−1 P2O5 only on rice (P4). The results showed that the maximum rapeseed grain yields of T2P3 were increased by 15.57% and 21.05% in 2019 and 18.02% and 32.69% in 2020 compared with those of T2P2 and T2P4, respectively. In the rice season, the maximum yields of T2P3 increased by 17.31% and 6.67% in 2019 and 16.42% and 5.23% in 2020 compared to those of T2P2 and T2P4, respectively. Meanwhile, soil bacterial diversity reached its highest under the T2P3 and T2P2 treatments, but the difference was not statistically significant. Straw return combined with phosphorus application of 120 kg·ha−1 during rape season increased crop productivity and diversity of the soil bacterial community structure during rape-rice rotation.

In this paper, a joint group shuffled scheduling decoding (JGSSD) algorithm for a joint source-channel coding (JSCC) scheme based on double low-density parity-check (D-LDPC) codes is presented. The proposed algorithm considers the D-LDPC coding structure as a whole and applies shuffled scheduling to each group; the grouping relies on the types or the length of the variable nodes (VNs). By comparison, the conventional shuffled scheduling decoding algorithm can be regarded as a special case of this proposed algorithm. A novel joint extrinsic information transfer (JEXIT) algorithm for the D-LDPC codes system with the JGSSD algorithm is proposed, by which the source and channel decoding are calculated with different grouping strategies to analyze the effects of the grouping strategy. Simulation results and comparisons verify the superiority of the JGSSD algorithm, which can adaptively trade off the decoding performance, complexity and latency.

Amphiphilic polysaccharides can be used as wall materials and applied to encapsulate hydrophobic active chemicals; moreover, there is significant demand for novel medical high-molecular-weight materials with various functions. In order to prepare amphiphilic schizophyllan (SPG), octenyl succinic anhydride (OSA) was chosen to synthesize OSA-modified schizophyllan (OSSPG) using an esterified reaction. The modification of OSSPG was demonstrated through FT-IR and thermal analysis. Moreover, it was found that OSSPG has a better capacity for loading curcumin, and the loading amount was 20 μg/mg, which was 2.6 times higher than that of SPG. In addition, a hydrogel made up of PVA, borax, and C-OSSPG (OSSPG loaded with curcumin) was prepared by means of the one-pot method, based on the biological effects of curcumin and the immune-activating properties of SPG. The mechanical properties and biological activity of the hydrogel were investigated. The experimental results show that the dynamic cross-linking of PVA and borax provided the C-OSSPG/BP hydrogel dressing with exceptional self-healing properties, and it was discovered that the C-OSSPG content increased the hydrogel’s swelling and moisturizing properties. In fibroblast cell tests, the cells treated with hydrogel had survival rates of 80% or above. Furthermore, a hydrogel containing C-OSSPG could effectively promote cell migration. Due to the excellent anti-inflammatory properties of curcumin, the hydrogel also significantly reduces the generation of inflammatory factors, such as TNF-α and IL-6, and thus has a potential application as a wound dressing medicinal material.

Metabolic reprogramming, such as alterations in glutamine metabolism or glycolysis, is the hallmark of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the underlying mechanisms are still incompletely elucidated. Previous studies have identified that methyltransferase SET and MYND domain-containing protein 2(SMYD2) is responsible for the pathogenesis of numerous types of cancer. Here, we innovatively uncover how SMYD2 regulates glutamine metabolism in HCC cells and promotes HCC progression. We identified that SMYD2 expression is upregulated in HCC tissues, which correlates with unfavorable clinical outcomes. Our in vitro and in vivo results showed that the depletion of SMYD2 inhibits HCC cell growth. Mechanistically, c-Myc methylation by SMYD2 increases its protein stability through the ubiquitin–proteasome system. We showed SMYD2 depletion destabilized c-Myc protein by increasing the conjugated K48-linked polyubiquitin chain. SMYD2 increased c-Myc expression and further upregulated glutaminase1 (GLS1), a crucial enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of glutamine to glutamic acid, in HCC cells. GLS1 plays an important role in SMYD2-mediated HCC progression and glutamine metabolism regulation. The knockdown of SMYD2 inhibited glutamine metabolism in HCC cells and overcame their chemoresistance to sorafenib. Collectively, our findings demonstrated a novel mechanism of how SMYD2 promotes HCC progression by regulating glutamine metabolism through the c-Myc/GLS1signaling, implicating the therapeutic potential of targeting SMYD2 in HCC patients.

Route choice is a complex issue in simulating individual behaviors and reproducing collective phenomena during evacuations. A growing concern has been given to the individual cognitive mechanism to investigate how routing decisions are made in specific situations. However, the essential role of multiple spatio-temporal scales has not been completely considered in the current cognitive frameworks, which leads to the inaccuracy of cognition representation in evacuation decisions. This study proposes a novel spatio-temporal cognitive framework integrated with multiple spatio-temporal scales for individual route choice. First, a complete spatio-temporal cognitive mechanism is constructed to depict the individual evacuation cognition process. Second, a spatio-temporal route choice strategy that emerges from agent-based simulation and extends into the spatio-temporal potential field is designed to represent the overall time-varying cost along routes in individual subjective estimation. Finally, a spatio-temporal A* algorithm is developed for individual optimal route planning in complex outdoor evacuation scenarios. The experimental results show that the proposed framework outperformed the conventional potential field model in evacuation performance, in both objective crowd evacuation evaluation metrics and individual subjectively estimated evacuation cost in cognition, and may provide more insights on crowd evacuation management and guidance.

Two triterpenes, ganoaustralins A (1) and B (2), featuring unprecedented 6/6/6/5/6 scaffolds were isolated from the fruiting bodies of the mushroom Ganoderma australe. The structures were determined by extensive NMR and HRESIMS spectroscopic analysis. The absolute configuration of the C-25 in ganoaustralin A was assigned by the phenylglycine methyl ester (PGME) method. The relative and absolute configurations of the polycyclic backbones were determined by NMR and ECD calculations, respectively. The plausible biosynthetic pathways of ganoaustralins A and B were proposed. Ganoaustralin B showed weak inhibition against β-secretase 1.

This study was aimed at increasing the capacity of fermented Tremella fuciformis extracellular polysaccharides (TEPS) for possible functional food applications. Thus, strain varieties, fermentation parameters and purification conditions, and the in vitro antioxidant activities of purified EPS fractions were investigated. An EPS high-yield strain Tf526 was selected, and the effects of seven independent fermentation factors (time, temperature, initial pH, inoculum size, shaking speed, carbon, and nitrogen source) on the EPS yield were evaluated. By single factor optimization test, yeast extract and glucose were chosen as nitrogen sources and carbon sources, respectively, and with initial pH of 6.0, inoculum size of 8%, shaking speed of 150 rpm, and culture at 25 °C for 72 h, the optimal yield of TEPS reached 0.76 ± 0.03 mg/mL. Additionally, A-722MP resin showed the most efficient decoloration ratio compared to six other tested resins. Furthermore, optimal decoloration parameters of A-722MP resin were obtained as follows: decoloration time of 2 h, resins dosage of 2 g, and temperature of 30 °C. Decoloration ratio, deproteinization ratio, and polysaccharide retention ratio were 62.14 ± 2.3%, 81.21 ± 2.13%, and 73.42 ± 1.96%, respectively. Furthermore, the crude TEPS was extracted and four polysaccharide fractions were isolated and purified as Tf1-a, Tf1-b, Tf2, and Tf3 by the DEAE-Sepharose FF column and the Sephasryl S100 column. In general, the antioxidant activities of the Lf1-a and Lf1-b were lower compared with Vc at the concentration of 0.1 to 3 mg/mL, but the FRAP assay, DPPH scavenging activity, and hydroxyl radical scavenging activity analysis still revealed that Tf1-a and Tf1-b possess significant antioxidant activities in vitro. At the concentration of 3 mg/mL, the reducing power of Lf1-a and Lf1-b reached 0.86 and 0.70, the maximum DPPH radical were 54.23 ± 1.68% and 61.62 ± 2.73%, and the maximum hydroxyl radicals scavenging rates were 58.76 ± 2.58% and 45.81 ± 1.79%, respectively. Moreover, there were significant correlations (r > 0.8) among the selected concentrations and antioxidant activities of TEPS major fractions Tf1-a and Tf1-b. Therefore, it is expected that Tf1-a and Tf1-b polysaccharide fractions from fermented TEPS may serve as active ingredients in functional foods.

Online prediction of maneuvering target trajectory is one of the most popular research directions at present. Specifically, the primary factors balancing, between prediction accuracy and response time, will give the research substance. This paper presents an online trajectory prediction algorithm based on small sample chaotic time series (OTP-SSCT). First, we optimize in terms of data breadth. The dynamic split window is built according to the motion characteristics of the maneuvering target, thus realizing trajectory segmentation and constructing a small sample chaotic time series prediction set. Second, since fully considering the motion patterns of maneuvering targets, we introduce the spatiotemporal features into the particle swarm optimization (PSO) model identification algorithm, which improves the identification sensitivity of key trajectory data points. Furthermore, we propose a feedback optimization strategy of residual compensation to correct the trajectory prediction values to improve the prediction accuracy. For the initial value sensitivity problem of the PSO model identification algorithm, we propose a new initial population strategy, which improves the effectiveness of initial parameters on model identification. Through simulation experiment analysis, it is verified that the proposed OTP-SSCT algorithm achieves better prediction accuracy and faster response time.
