MARRIAGES of celebrities ,MARRIAGE ,PARTIES ,SHOPPING - Abstract
This article raises questions about the status of Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson's marriage. Lachey was at a pre-game Super Bowl party with several friends when, according to a witness and as reported in New York's Daily News, a bodyguard for Lachey approached a 6-ft. blonde and said, "You want to meet Nick? Because Nick certainly wants to meet you." Was the invite really Lachey's idea? "Not true," says his rep, adding that Lachey had nothing to do with the incident. Of course, Simpson did her fair share of partying last month while filming The Dukes of Hazzard in Baton Rouge (see box, page 19). And despite the talk of marital discord that has been swirling around the pair, there was no evidence of a deep freeze when they reunited at Manhattan hot spot Butter Feb. 7, the night after the Super Bowl. Simpson was also in Louisiana where she spent time shopping at trendy boutiques--she snagged a red '70s disco dress--dining out and partying until the wee hours.

FASHION , *CLOTHING & dress , *CELEBRITIES - Abstract
The article discusses celebrities and New York City's Fashion Week. The hottest items at N.Y.C.'s 2005 Spring/Summer Olympus Fashion Week didn't come down the runway-they sat in the front row. We're talking about the parade of A-listers, including J.Lo, Jennifer Connelly, Mischa Barton, Jessica Simpson and Janet Jackson, who turned the shows into red-carpet events akin to premieres. When the lights dimmed, though, everyone was a spectator. Perhaps it was up-and-coming fashionista Anne Hathaway who best summed up the week: "It's just a good time and a sneak-peek at the clothes-and the hope that somebody is going to give you something for free!"

COLLEGE students ,SOCIAL interaction - Abstract
The article profiles actress twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen as they begin their freshman year at New York University. One breakup, one new friend: Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen shop, bop and adjust their social lives before hitting the books at NYU. Among the lessons learned by Mary-Kate Olsen during her first week as a college student: Sometimes, long-distance romances don't work. NYU freshman Olsen, 18, split with her boyfriend David Katzenberg, 21, a Boston University man some 200 miles to the north. It's reasonable for her to start school fresh. Meanwhile her twin sister (and fellow coed) Ashley found a handsome new man-restaurateur Scott Sartiano, 29, a Columbia grad who once dated actress Anne Hathaway, 21-to show her around the streets of Manhattan and its summer alter ego, the Hamptons. Though both parties insist they are just friends, introduced by mutual acquaintance John Stamos, others say there's a spark. Ashley's first class took place Sept. 7, Mary-Kate's the following day.

RAP music ,BANDS (Musical groups) - Abstract
This article profiles the two rappers from the band OutKast, Antwan Patton and Andre Benjamin. It comes as no great shock that a shared fashion sense helped OutKast's Antwan "Big Boi" Patton and Andre "3000" Benjamin bond as 10th graders attending Tri-Cities High, a performing-arts school in suburban Atlanta. Since hitting stores last September, the outrageously funky collection (essentially solo CDs by Big Boi and Dre packaged together) has sold 3.5 million copies and spent seven weeks at No. 1, while "Hey Ya!" and "The Way You Move" simultaneously occupied the Top 2 positions on the Billboard singles chart, a feat last accomplished by the Bee Gees in 1978. During that period the pair remained partners in rhyme, writing raps and putting together makeshift tapes until they hooked up with some local producers who also worked with fellow Atlanta-based act TLC. Their big break was an audition for Antonio "LA" Reid, who signed OutKast to a contract in 1993 and oversaw the group's 1994 platinum debut, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. Dre cowrote that song after the breakup of his two-year relationship with singer Erykah Badu, with whom he has a 6-year-old son, Seven.
