The yellow mealworm (Tenebrio molitor L., Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) is an edible insect, distributed worldwide and a convenient candidate for industrial-scale production. Mealworms could be commercially used for the substitution of conventional protein sources. In our previous study, it was found that T. molitor larvae predominantly contained crude protein (55.83%) and crude fat (25.19%), as well as low content of nitrogen-free extract (based on dry weight). Mealworm specimens were maintained in an incubator under controlled conditions in plastic containers. Insects were sieved and put into the container with boiling water and cooked for 180 seconds. Moisture content was determined as weight loss after drying of larvae. Amino acids were determined on an Agilent Technologies 1260 series HPLC system. Fatty acid composition was determined on a Thermo Scientific TRACE 1300 gas chromatograph equipped with a flame ionization detector using TR-FAME column. The results showed that the content of unsaturated fatty acid is very high, i.e. oleic acid (C18:1) formed the major lipid component in 40.83%, which was followed by linoleic acid (C18:2, omega-6 fatty acid) with 29.80% and linolenic acid (C18:3) with 1.08%. The essential amino acids are highly represented in the samples (in % dry matter). This primarily refers to isoleucine (4.12), tyrosine (3.86), phenylalanine (3.06), leucine (2.96), lysine (2.67) and methionine (1.76). The differences in essential fatty and amino acid content between our results and discussed literature data, could be the consequence of different substrates used for rearing of insects. After everything stated above, the biological value of T. molitor larvae proves that it could be suitable as animal feed.

Based on the analysis of the political processes and challenges during the United Kingdom’s EU membership, the author aims to depict the continued British resistance towards EU integration deepening. The author analyzes the hesitance towards the deepening of British-European relations through various examples, such as the two referendums on continued EU membership, various opt-outs, and the European agendas of various British governments. The paper also shows that despite skepticism towards integration deepening, the UK was constantly inclined towards EU enlargement, in part as a reflection of the security-defense logic of its transatlantic priorities. The author intends to demonstrate that British politicians have been using numerous political, economical or social challenges during the past decade in order to secure growingly Eurosceptic votes. However, such narratives have resulted not only in greater support for Brexit but have also contributed to the political, identity, regional and other polarization. The above-mentioned facts lead to a twofold conclusion: by withdrawing from the EU, the country not only loses its special status, which used to constitute an important part of the British international role and identity, but also devolves mutual relations and fills them with distrust. Likewise, the author explains that the designing of sustainable and deepened transatlantic relations in the short-term is not particularly realistic, due to isolationist and unilateral tendencies of the current American administration. As part of the scientific explanation, the author uses the concepts of realist theories and intergovernmental approach. For the purpose of an additional illustration of the UK’s resistance towards integration deepening, the author employs the idea of British exceptionalism as a constant political phenomenon.

The paper examines the implementation of the enlargement policy at the end of the second decade of the 21st century, which occurred under considerably altered circumstances and in different dynamics in comparison to the previous cycles of the “Eastern enlargements”. Unlike those accession cycles which were conducted under different circumstances and had been regionally and strategically directed in their approach so that the entire groups of countries could simultaneously join the Union, during the last decade there was a growing focus on strictly bilateral relations of Brussels with each candidate and its individual accomplishments within the “accession regatta”, and on more intensive and earlier conditioning. In combination with the changed international circumstances, these resulted in a different treatment of the current accession candidates. The article points that the reasons for this have been the altered political circumstances and challenges in the functioning of the Union, the different international context, as well as insufficient progress in the remaining “unintegrated” southeastern countries. With the accession policy falling behind and along with considerations regarding the reform plans within the European Union by the model of concentric cycles of integration, it appears to the author that further accession of EU candidates will retain different dynamics comparing to the previous enlargement rounds, and potentially result in a different form of integration in the future..

Two-dimensional semantics is only seemingly a unique answer to the problem of meaning. Philosophers prone to two-dimensionalism, generally agree in regard to formal deficiencies arising from intensional semantics. In order to respond to these, they created a specific formal framework including two types of intensions (as opposed to only one used to capture the meaning of terms in intensional semantics). Issues that usually arise regarding this framework independently constitute a very interesting philosophical debate, but, they can also mislead one into conclusion about the identical aims or philosophical aspirations of its participants. The similarities on the formal level, often hide insurmountable conceptual differences in the interpretation of two-dimensional framework: Kaplan uses it to show expression?s context dependence, Stalnaker to capture meta-semantic facts, while Chalmers believes this framework traces a path to the epistemic roots of meaning. In this paper I intend to spotlight these differences.
