The article reflects on the imposition of 21-day quarantines by a number of states on returning health care workers from Africa who might have had possible contact with Ebola virus-afflicted patients in 2014. It argues that while the approach aims to protect U.S. citizens, it is not scientifically-based and will impede efforts to contain the disease at its source. The article states that the workers should instead be honored for risking their lives to save people and helping in source control.
