A photograph showing four Iranian missiles heading skyward in unison was ''apparently digitally altered'' by Iranian state media, the news agency Agence France-Presse said Thursday. One of the missiles appears to be merely a copied image. But by the time that fact was reported, the photo had appeared on the front pages of The Los Angeles Times, The Financial Times, The Chicago Tribune and several other newspapers as well as on many major news Web sites, including nytimes.com, BBC News, MSNBC and Yahoo!
