Decades of stereotype threat literature have consistently shown that individuals’ concerns about confirming negative stereotypes related to their group membership (e.g. gender, race) can lead to performance impairment. The current study investigates a formative negative stereotype targeting humans at the species level. The present study aims to investigate how perceptions of AI impact human performance on a cognitive task.
