A 5-year-old Chinese girl presented to a dermatology clinic with itching and eyelash loss on her left lower eyelid. She had recently traveled to Jeju Island, South Korea, and had contact with rabbits and cats. Trichoscopy revealed pustules, scales, broken eyelashes, and microscopic examination confirmed the presence of Trichophyton interdigitale. The diagnosis was tinea blepharitis, and the symptoms resolved after treatment with oral itraconazole and topical fluconazole eyedrops. Blepharitis is an inflammatory condition of the eyelid margin that can have various causes, including infections and environmental factors. Trichoscopy provided valuable diagnostic information in this case. Treatment for blepharitis depends on the type and pathogens involved. Tinea blepharitis is a rare dermatophyte infection that can be easily overlooked. [Extracted from the article]
