BACKGROUND: A part of the population of people with intellectual disability is historically inclined to obesity and in a poorer health condition. That is the reason why sport should play an important role in their lives. Designing scientifically and professionally valid training programmes, consisting of the necessary methodology and didactical instructions for sport engagement of people with intellectual disability, is not only a challenge but has become a necessity for the near future. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to establish a correlation between selected motor abilities and motor skills of martial arts as well as how and to what extent a group of people with intellectual disability (ID) who regularly practice Gan (inclusive) judo can achieve progress in their martial arts skills (judo, karate, boxing and fencing) after an eight-week training programme. We were also interested in whether there were any changes in selected motor abilities. METHODS: Measurement of motor abilities and selected martial art skills was conducted twice: in March 2008, one week before the eight-week training started, and in May 2008, one week after it had been completed. The training programme lasted for two months, with two sessions per week. The sample of subjects comprised 5 women and 18 men aged between 16 and 36, with mild and moderate intellectual disability. The study was conducted using 8 tests to assess motor abilities and 9 tests to assess martial art skills. RESULTS: The results of a t-test for dependent samples showed statistically significant differences between the initial and final measurements in seven tests of motor abilities and eight tests of martial arts skills, while a significant correlation was found between the overall average score of martial arts and results of seven motor ability tests in the initial and five in the final measurement. CONCLUSSIONS: After the training process positive changes in motor abilities and motor skills of Gan judokas had been noted. The effects of the training program should be verified in future studies. It is worth reiterating that by improving motor abilities and expanding the boundaries of skills, people with intellectual disability enhance their quality of life. Attention in the future and thus contributes to a higher quality of intellectually disabled people’s engagement in sport as well as in life.[VÝCHODISKA: Je známo, že část populace osob s mentálním postižením má sklon k obezitě a horšímu zdravotnímu stavu. Proto by v jejich životech měl hrát významnou roli sport. Navrhnout vědecky a profesionálně účinné tréninkové programy pro sportovní vyžití osob s mentálním postižením, sestávající z nezbytné metodiky a didaktických pokynů, je sice těžký úkol, ale stává se nezbytností pro blízkou budoucnost. CÍLE: Cílem studie je stanovit vzájemný vztah mezi vy branými motorickými schopnostmi a pohybovými dovednostmi v rámci bojových umění, jakož i to, jak a do jaké míry osoby s mentálním postižením (MP), které pravidelně trénují judo, mohou po osmitýdenním tréninkovém kurzu ve svých dovednostech v oblasti bojových umění (judo, karate, box a šerm) dosáhnout zlepšení. Zajímalo nás také, zda došlo k jakýmkoli změnám ve vybraných motorických dovednostech. METODIKA: Měření motorických schopností a dovedností v oblasti vybraných bojových umění bylo provedeno dvakrát – v březnu 2008, týden před začátkem kurzu, a v květnu 2008, týden po jeho ukončení. Tréninkový kurz trval dva měsíce v rozsahu dvou lekcí týdně. Zkoumaný vzorek sestával z 5 žen a 18 mužů ve věku mezi 16 a 36 lety s mírným až středně těžkým mentálním postižením. Studie byla provedena pomocí 8 testů pro hodnocení motorických schopností a 9 testů pro hodnocení dovedností v oblasti bojových umění. VÝSLEDKY: Výsledky t-testu pro závislé vzorky prokázaly statisticky významné rozdíly mezi úvodními a konečnými naměřenými hodnotami v sedmi testech motorických schopností a osmi testech dovedností v oblasti bojových umění, zatímco významná souvztažnost byla zjištěna mezi celkovým průměrným skóre u bojových umění a výsledky sedmi testů motorických schopností v úvodních a pěti v konečných naměřených hodnotách. ZÁVĚRY: Po ukončení kurzu byly u svěřenců zaznamenány pozitivní změny v motorických schopnostech a pohybových dovednostech. Účinky tréninkového pro gramu by měly být potvrzeny budoucími studiemi. Podobným zlepšováním motorických schopností a rozšiřováním hranic dovedností mohou osoby s mentálním postižením zlepšit kvalitu svého života. Pokud bude této činnosti v budoucnu věnována pozornost, může toto vést ke zlepšení kvality zapojení osob s mentálním postižením do sportovních činností, ale i zlepšení jejich života obecně.]

The aim of the research was to establish the influence of techno music on the reaction times of participants in the research. Our hypothesis was that stimulating music, such as techno, would shorten the participants' reaction time to visual stimuli while, without music, the reaction time would be longer. To define the reaction time to expected light stimuli we used a special apparatus for measuring the angle of elbow extension, an electric goniometer and a red colour LED diode attached to it. We also used a computer programme as well. The athletes, 10 students at the Faculty of Sports, aged between 20 and 45, participated in the research, representing the control group as well as the experimental group. In our research we established that listening to techno music does affect the shortening of participants' reaction time. Their reaction time shortens significantly according to a measurement taken after 30 minute of listening to techno music, nevertheless it is not shortened during the listening. The control group established that 35 minutes of waiting between the measurements does not significantly affect the reaction time. Moreover, it was established that 30 minutes of listening to techno music affected the shortening of the reaction time 45 seconds after the music was turned off. For further research, it would be necessary to engage more participants. However, the research results are useful data and may serve as a starting point for further research. Cílem výzkumu bylo stanovit míru vlivu techno hudby na reakční časy účastníků výzkumu. Naše hypotéza byla ta, že stimulující hudba, například techno, zkracuje dobu reakce účastníků na vizuální podněty, zatímco bez hudby je reakční čas delší. K určení doby reakce na očekávané světelné podněty jsme použili speciální zařízení na měření úhlu extenze lokte, elektrický goniometr a k němu připevněnou červenou LED diodu. Také jsme používali počítačový program. Výzkumu se zúčastnili sportovci, 10 studentů Fakulty sportu, ve věku 20 až 45 let, kteří představovali kontrolní i experimentální skupinu. V našem výzkumu jsme zjistili, že poslech techno hudby zkracuje reakční doby účastníků. Dle měření provedených po 30 minutách poslechu techno hudby se jejich doba reakce významně zkracuje, nicméně nezkracuje se během poslechu. Kontrolní skupina stanovila, že 35 minut čekání mezi měřeními reakční dobu významně neovlivňuje. Navíc bylo zjištěno, že 30 minut poslechu techno hudby mělo vliv na zkrácení reakční doby 45 sekund poté, co byla hudba vypnuta. Pro další výzkum by bylo nezbytné zapojit více účastníků. Výsledky výzkumu ovšem poskytují užitečné údaje a mohou sloužit jako východisko pro další výzkum.

V okamžiku, kdy žena zjistí, že je těhotná, se její život v mnoha ohledech změní, protože se začne přizpůsobovat dítěti ve svém těle. Přeje si dobře se cítit, v bezpečí dosáhnout stanoveného termínu a porodit zdravé dítě. Průzkum jsme prováděli u 163 těhotných žen na konci druhého trimestru těhotenství. Článek představuje vztah mezi sportovní aktivitou a duševním stavem během těhotenství. Srovnávali jsme dvě skupiny žen – ženy s pravidelnou tělesnou aktivitou (PTA) a ženy s nízkou úrovní tělesné aktivity (NTA) – a zkoumali vztah mezi tělesnou aktivitou a duševním stavem. První část výzkumu se zaměřovala na tělesnou aktivitu, a to zvláště na její četnost, formu a typ. Skupina PTA sestávala z 69 těhotných žen, které se pravidelně věnují organizovaným sportovním aktivitám ve sportovních střediscích nebo které jsou tělesně aktivní neorganizovaně třikrát až čtyřikrát za týden. V potaz jsme brali aktivity trvající 30 a více minut. Skupina NTA sestávala z 94 těhotných žen, které se tělesným aktivitám věnují pouze příležitostně nebo které nejsou tělesně aktivní. Druhá část výzkumu týkajícího se duševního stavu těhotných žen obsahovala 45 položek, které se týkaly jejich duševního stavu. U každé položky ženy určovaly svůj duševní stav na pětistupňové škále (nikdy, málo, občas, často, skoro pořád). Z celkového počtu mělo 20 položek prevalenci pozitivního duševního stavu a 25 prevalenci negativního duševního stavu. U obou skupin jsme analyzovali duševní stav a vztahy mezi pravidelnou sportovní aktivitou a nízkou sportovní aktivitou a duševním stavem v druhém trimestru, kdy jsou těhotné ženy nejčastěji a nejsnáze tělesně aktivní. Pomocí faktorové analýzy jsme prokázali, že u skupiny PTA je prvním eliminovaným faktorem faktor spojený s pozitivními emocemi, což vysvětluje 23,51 % variance z celkových 34,91 % vysvětlené variance. Těhotné ženy skupiny PTA tedy svůj stav defi novaly většinou jako pozitivní, s následujícími emocemi: uvolněný, spokojený, příjemný, nepesimistický, přitažlivý, hrdý a šťastný. U skupiny NTA byl prvním eliminovaným faktorem faktor spojený s negativními emocemi, což vysvětluje 19,45 % variance z celkových 34,68 % vysvětlené variance. Tato skupina těhotných žen defi novala svůj stav většinou jako negativní, s následujícími opakujícími se emocemi: melancholický, napjatý, vznětlivý, depresivní a nervózní. Zjištěná fakta ukazují, že pravidelná sportovní aktivita prospívá duševnímu stavu a duševnímu zdraví těhotných žen. The moment a woman fi nds out that she is pregnant, her life changes in many aspects as she starts to adjust to the baby growing in her body. Her wish is to feel well, to safely reach the due date and give birth to a healthy child. We conducted a survey among 163 pregnant women at the end of the second trimester of their pregnancies and this article presents the relationship between their sport activity and their state of mind during pregnancy. Two groups of pregnant women, namely those who were regularly physically active (RPA) and those with a low level of being physically active (LPA) were compared and the relationship between their level of sport activity and their state of mind was established. The first part of the inventory focused on sport activity, namely – the frequency, forms and types of their sport activities. The RPA group consisted of 69 pregnant women who regularly engage in organised sport activities at sport centres or are physically active 3 to 4 times a week in an unorganised way. Activities which lasted for 30 minutes or more were considered. The LPA group consisted of 94 pregnant women who were physically active only occasionally or were physically inactive. The second part of the inventory investigating pregnant women's state of mind included 45 items which probed into their state of mind; for each item the study subjects defined their psychological state of mind on a five degree scale (never, rarely, sometimes, often, nearly always). Of all items, 20 had a prevalence of a positive state of mind and 25 a prevalence of a negative state of mind. In both groups, the state of mind of the women was analysed and relationships were established between regular sport activity and a low level of sport activity and the state of mind of the women in the second trimester, which is the time when pregnant women are most frequently and most easily physically active. By using a factor analysis we proved that, in the RPA, the first factor to be eliminated is the one associated with positive emotions, explaining 23.51 percent of the variance of the total 34.91 percent of the explained variance. Hence, the RPA pregnant women defined their state of mind as being mostly positive, with the following emotions: relaxed, satisfied, agreeable, not pessimistic, attractive, proud and happy. In the LPA group, the first eliminated factor was the one associated with negative emotions, explaining 19.45 percent of the variance of the total 34.68 percent of the explained variance. This group of pregnant women defined their state of mind mostly as negative, with the following recurring emotions: melancholic, tense, irritable, depressed and nervous. The findings show that regular sport activity benefits the psychological state of mind and the mental health of pregnant women.

Cílem tohoto průzkumu bylo zjistit, zda u 14letých žáků existuje korelace mezi sportovní aktivitou a užíváním návykových látek. Tento průzkum je založen na dotazníku s 38 proměnnými, přičemž pravděpodobnostní vztahy mezi proměnnými byly testovány pomocí chí-kvadrát testu. Analýza ukázala, že ve svém volném čase se sportu věnuje 80 % chlapců a 85 % dívek. Sportu se věnují většinou dvakrát až třikrát týdně. Většina chlapců se věnuje sportu závodně (39 %), zatímco dívky se věnují především rekreačním pohybovým aktivitám (48 %). Pokud jde o kouření, ke kuřákům patří 4 % procenta chlapců a 12 % dívek. Většina chlapců začala kouřit ve věku 13 let, dívky ve věku 12 let. 90 % chlapců a 94 % dívek již nějaký alkoholický nápoj vyzkoušelo – jde tedy o většinu žáků ve věku od 10 do 13 let. Pokud jde o užívání drog, vyzkoušelo je 18 % chlapců a 26 % dívek. Nejčastějšími typy drog jsou inhalace, pilulky a marihuana. Většina žáků prohlásila, že kouření, pití alkoholu a užívání nelegálních návykových látek vyzkoušela ze zvědavosti. Rodiče většinou podporují děti v provozování sportu. Většina žáků se domnívá, že sport a kouření spolu nejde dohromady. Domnívají se, že sportovní aktivity jsou činnosti, které by od užívání návykových látek mohly odrazovat. Zjistili jsme, že mezi sportovními aktivitami a užíváním legálních i nelegálních návykových látek není statisticky významná korelace. Statisticky významná korelace však byla zjištěna u pití alkoholu v případě chlapců (pivo a víno) a inhalace látek v případě dívek. Rozdíly by zřejmě mohly být výraznější v pozdějším věku – při přechodu mezi základní a střední školou. Mladé lidi by bylo možno od užívání legálních i nelegálních návykových látek odradit nabídkou většího množství aktivit, které by jim umožňovaly trávit volný čas přiměřenějším a kvalitnějším způsobem. The aim of this research was to establish whether there is a correlation between sport activity and drug-taking among 14 year old pupils. This research is based on a questionnaire of 38 variables and the probability relations among the variables have been tested by the chi-square. Analysis has shown that 80% of male and 85% of female pupils practice sport in their leisure time. On average, they practice sport 2 to 3 times a week. The majority of male pupils practice sport competitively (39%), while female pupils primarily practice not officially organized recreational sports (48%). As for smoking, 4% of the male and 12% of the female pupils smoke, the majority of the male pupils had their first cigarette at the age of 13, female pupils at the age of 12. Regarding alcohol use, 90% of the male and 94% of the female pupils had tried an alcohol beverage, which means a majority of pupils between ages 10 and 13. As far as drugs are concerned, 18% of the male and 26% of the female pupils tried drugs. The prevailing types of drug-taking are vapor inhaling, pills and marijuana. The majority of pupils said they had tried smoking, drinking alcohol and taking illicit drugs out of curiosity. Parents mainly encourage their children to practice sport. The majority of pupils think that sport and smoking do not go together, they are of the opinion that sport activities are those activities that could discourage drug-taking. We have ascertained that is no statistically significant correlation between sport activities and taking drugs both legal and illicit drugs. However, a statistically characteristic correlation has been ascertained with regard to drinking alcohol in the case of male pupils (beer and wine) and inhaling vapors in the case of female pupils. Differences would be probably more evident at a later time – the transition from primary to secondary school. To discourage young people from drug-taking, both legal and illicit, they should be offered more activities so that they can spend their free time in a reasonable and qualitative way.

Cílem výzkumu bylo analyzovat sportovní aktivitu a stravovací návyky u dětí předškolního věku a jejich rodičů. Zajímala nás korelace mezi stravovacími návyky rodičů a dětí předškolního věku a sportovní aktivitou. Pro dotazování 93 rodičů tří až pětiletých dětí ze tří slovinských školek byl použit dotazník obsahující 32 otázek. Údaje byly zpracovány programem SPSS, který počítá frekvenci a kontingenční tabulky. Zjistili jsme, že výživa většiny dětí předškolního věku je pravidelná a vhodná, přestože některé pětileté dívky a tříletí chlapci mají zvýšený BMI (index tělesné hmotnosti). Stravovací návyky rodičů však nejsou ani zdaleka vzorné – přes 50 % má pouze 2 až 3 jídla denně. Přestože nebyla potvrzena žádná statisticky charakteristická korelace, výsledky ukazují, že děti, jejichž rodiče jsou sportovně aktivní, mají vhodnější výživu než děti, jejichž rodiče sportovně aktivní nejsou. Statisticky charakteristické je, že rodiče, kteří jsou sportovně aktivnější, zapojují své děti do sportu ve větší míře. Většina z nich rovněž tráví aktivně prázdniny. Domníváme se, že v době, kdy ještě podléhají vlivu rodičů a učitelů, by děti měly přijmout pozitivní přístup ke sportovně aktivnímu způsobu života a zdravé výživě, které představují základní podmínku normálního způsobu života bez zbytečných problémů způsobených škodlivými návyky a civilizačními chorobami. The aim of this research was to analyze sports activity and eating habits in preschool children and their parents. We were interested in the correlation between parents' and preschool childrens' eating habits and sports activity. A questionnaire consisting of 32 questions was used to interview 93 parents of three to five year old children from 3 Slovene kindergartens. The data was processed by the SPSS program, calculating the frequency and contingency tables. We have established that nutrition of the majority of preschool children is regular and proper; despite the fact that quite a few five year old girls and 3 year old boys have an increased BMI (body mass index). Their parents' eating habits are far from exemplary though – over 50% eat only 2 to 3 meals a day. Even though no statistically characteristic correlation was ascertained, the results show that children whose parents are sports active have more adequate nutrition than those children whose parents are not sports active. It is statistically characteristic that parents, who are more sports active, involve their children in sports more. The majority of them also spend their holidays actively. We are of the opinion that at the time when children are still prone for parents' and teachers' influences, children should adopt a positive attitude towards a sports active way of life and healthy nutrition which represent the fundamental condition for a normal way of life without any unnecessary troubles due to harmful habits and modern diseases.

Přiměřená fyzická zdatnost je významným aspektem obecné připravenosti ozbrojených sil a nedílnou součástí armádní podpory. Cílem tohoto průzkumu bylo zjistit účinky výcvikového programu, založeného na individuálně přizpůsobené míře intenzity, na motorické schopnosti zaměstnanců slovinských ozbrojených sil (SV). Vzorek zahrnoval 34 členů SV (16 zařazených do experimentální skupiny – ES a 18 do kontrolní skupiny – KS) ve věku od 35 do 40 let. Výsledky byly zpracovány pomocí programu SPSS 8.0 pro Windows. Zpracování výsledků bylo prováděno v několika etapách. Nejprve byly stanoveny základní statistické charakteristiky a distribuce individuálních proměnných, byla vypočtena míra střední tendence a stupeň disperze, byla použita metoda pro analýzu s rizikem odchylky 5 %. Výsledky prokázaly, že charakteristického zvýšení úrovně určitých motorických schopností sledovaného souboru lze dosáhnout pomocí ekonomizace výcvikového postupu a individuálně přizpůsobené intenzity výcviku. Statisticky významné rozdíly mezi experimentální a kontrolní skupinou byly zjištěny při měření tělesného tuku (KG), kliků (SK), hrudních předklonů v lehu pokrčmo, běhu na 3200 metrů (T3200M) a klidové srdeční frekvence (FSUs). Přestože byl zkoumaný vzorek malý, tyto studie alespoň teoreticky potvrzují potřebu dalšího výzkumu v této oblasti, protože naše důkazy výrazně naznačují účinnost individuálně navržených výcvikových protokolů na tělesnou připravenost zaměstnanců slovinských ozbrojených sil. Adequate physical readiness is a significant aspect of universal armed forces readiness and an integral part of military support. The aim of this research was to ascertain the effect of a training program, based on individually adapted intensity levels, on motor abilities of the Slovene armed forces (SV) personnel. The sample of subjects included 34 members of SV (16 in the experimental group – ES, and 18 in the control group – KS), aged between 35 and 40. Results have been processed by the SPSS 8.0 for Windows program. Data processing was carried out in several phases. First, the basic statistical characteristics and the distribution of individual variables have been determined, the measures of central tendency and the measures of dispersion have been calculated and a method for the analysis of variance with 5% risk has been used. The results have shown that a characteristic enhancement of certain motor abilities of the sample studied can be improved by means of training process economisation and individually adapted training intensity levels. Statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups were found in measurements of body fat (KG), push-ups (SK), curl-ups (DT), a 3200 meter run (T3200M) and the morning heart beat frequency (FSUs). Although the research sample was small, these studies, at least in theory support the need for future research in these areas, as our evidence strongly suggests the effectiveness of individually designed training protocols on the physical readiness of Slovenian armed personnel.

The aim of this research is to determine whether there are distinctions in runs among five and a half year old boys and girls. The research is based on studying 80 girls and 64 boys from seven kindergartens in Slovenia. The following five measurement methods have been used in our research: a 10-meter run, a 150-meter run, a 10-meter run with a flying start, 4-times 5-meter run, and a 300-meter run. The results of the t-test indicate a statistically characteristic difference among boys and girls in 300 m run test results only, that is, a method used for measuring aerobic endurance. Other motor skills results have shown that there are no statistically characteristic differences among boys and girls. It is important that sport activities for boys and girls are organized for both groups of children equally. Especially girls must take part in a variety of running exercises in order to increase their aerobic endurance. They should be encouraged to take part in a variety of games which require activating the energy component of movement. Based on the results of this research we can say that physical education (PE) of preschool children should be planned regardless of sex and the PE program should be the same for both boys and girls. Cílem tohoto výzkumu je určit, zda existují odlišnosti v běhu chlapců a dívek ve věku 5,5 roku. Výzkum je založen na studii 80 dívek a 64 chlapců v sedmi mateřských školách ve Slovinsku. Bylo použito těchto pěti měřicích metod: běh na 10 metrů, běh na 150 metrů, běh na 10 metrů s letmým startem, běh 4 × 5 metrů, běh na 300 metrů. Výsledky t-testu vykázaly statisticky významný rozdíl mezi chlapci a dívkami jen v běhu na 300 metrů, což je metoda používaná pro měření aerobní vytrvalosti. Výsledky ostatních pohybových aktivit vykazují, že mezi chlapci a dívkami není žádný statisticky významný rozdíl. Je důležité, aby sportovní aktivity byly organizovány rovnoměrně jak pro chlapce, tak pro dívky. Obzvláště děvčata se musí účastnit různých běžeckých cvičení v zájmu toho, aby vzrostla jejich aerobní vytrvalost. Měla by být povzbuzována, aby se účastnila různých her, které vyžadují aktivaci energetické složky pohybu. Na základě výsledků tohoto výzkumu můžeme říci, že tělesná výchova (TV) předškolních dětí by měla být plánována bez ohledu na pohlaví a že tělovýchovný program by měl být pro chlapce i dívky stejný.
