Abstract

This work explores in some texts produced at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st the place of mechanical and manual written practices in an era of digital inscription. It is interested to analyze these forms of survival, of reappearances, which focus on the difficult relationship between machine and hand precisely in Sergio Chejfec, Mario Levrero and Jacqueline Goldberg. In each one we will see a different mode of resurgence, reappearance, of handwriting and typewriting, inspired by the impact of their relationship with computer work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

En este trabajo de grado se presenta un análisis por Propensity Score Matching e Inverse Probability Weighting del efecto que tiene el acceso a computador e internet en el hogar sobre los resultados globales, en matemáticas y lectura crítica en el examen de salida de la educación media en Colombia, SABER 11°, para el periodo 2019-2. Este examen es importante porque determina en buena medida la entrada a la universidad de los estudiantes bachilleres. Los resultados muestran que el acceso a estas herramientas tiene un impacto positivo y significativo de 0.32, 0.26 y 0.23 desviaciones estándar, respectivamente. La brecha digital en Colombia limita las oportunidades de acceso a herramientas que contribuyen al aprendizaje, y con esto, anula una gama de oportunidades académicas, laborales y sociales, especialmente de aquellos estudiantes de menores ingresos. This article evaluates the effect of having a computer and internet at home on global, mathematics and critical reading scores in the 2019-2 SABER 11 examination using Propensity Score Matching and Inverse Probability Weighting. The score obtained in this exam is important because it determines, in most cases, university admission for high school students. The effect was estimated to be 0.32, 0.26 and 0.23 standard deviations for global, mathematics, and critical reading scores, respectively. Digital divide in Colombia hinders access to these tools that contribute to learning and education, nullifying a range of academic, job and social opportunities, especially for lower income students.
