John Scott Strachan and Harold Aspden developed a generating system based on the Thompson effect and Peltier cooling, on which the electronics in the device were powered using small melting ice pieces. This electronic device, operated at 500 kilohertz, exhibited a 20 degrees centigrade drop and generated electric power that sealed to kilowatt per meter squared levels. The piezo material which was incorporated to simulate oscillations consisted of a PVDF dielectric material that was sandwiched between the bi-metal plates.

The design of a three-phase generator for airplanes is implemented together with its audio amplifiers, direct current supplies and exciter. The core of the generator's 400 hertz oscillator relies on a state-variable filter in the exciter. The power output of the device is rated according to the Q factor. Furthermore, the synchronistical function of the circuit is ensured by using a dual retriggerable monostable device.

MAN Diesel has introduced a generator set version of its 28/33D engine range for use in sea vessels. The gensets are aimed primarily at the offshore market. Engine design features are also supplied.
