Photoredox-catalyzed hydroxydifluoroacetylation of alkenes with FSO2CF2CO2Me and H2O is presented. In this reaction, –CF2CO2Me and –OH groups are simultaneously introduced into the C＝C bond of the alkenes using fac-[Ir(ppy)3] as the photocatalyst under visible light irradiation giving CF2CO2Me-containing alcohols and/or difluorolactones in high yields with high regioselectivity under mild conditions. Photoredox-catalyzed three-component fluorodifluoroacetylation of aromatic alkenes is reported, which features a wide substrate scope and functional group tolerance. An advantage of the reaction is the use of a nucleophilic fluoride source and a general difluoroacetylation reagent for the fluorodifluoroacetylation of alkenes.
