A cucurbit[6]uril-based (CB[6]) luminescent supramolecular assembly [CdL4]2−·CB[6] (1) has been successfully synthesized using anthracene carboxylic acid (HL) as a structure-directing agent. It has high water stability, easy regeneration ability and rapid response time. Investigation reveals that among the 12 species of antibiotics under investigation, 1 displayed high selectivity toward nitrofurazone (NFZ) and nitrofurantoin (NFT) through luminescence quenching, and the detection is not disturbed by the presence of other species. The limit of detection (LOD) for NFZ and NFT were calculated to be 90 and 49 ppb, respectively, indicating the ultra-sensitivity. Further studies reveal that 1 can be successfully applied for the detection of NFZ in simulated wastewater and urine with satisfactory results. More exhilaratingly, test strips based on 1 were successfully prepared, which can be used for naked-eye sensing of NFZ and NFT in water with emission color changes from bright blue to dark. Although the syntheses of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanoparticles, nanosheets, and nanotubes (NTs) have been reported for years, the synthesis and morphological control of the few-layered MoS2 NTs are still a great challenge, where a template-assisted route is barely seen among the gas-phase reactions at elevated temperature. Here, we report the nanowire (NW) templated chemical vapor deposition (CVD) synthesis of few-layered MoS2 NTs by utilizing a sacrificial template in the CVD process. The MoS2 NTs exhibit good structural integrity derived from the high temperature gas-phase reaction. Moreover, the diameter of the NTs and layer number of MoS2 are controllable. A field effect transistor (FET) device is fabricated to study the electrical property of a single MoS2 NT, and the carrier mobility is obtained. This work provides an effective route for the synthesis of the MoS2 NTs with only a few layers of thickness and could promote the synthesis of other one-dimensional (1-D) transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) nanomaterials. Two kinds of calixarene-based metal–organic coordination cages were obtained at different pH values despite using the same bridging ligand, either 5-(pyridin-3-yl)isophthalic acid (L1) or 5-(5-fluoropyridin-3-yl)isophthalic acid (L2), namely, {[Co4(TC4A)Cl]4(Ln)4(HCOO)4(H2O)4]}·26DMF (CIAC-117 and CIAC-119) and H4{[Co4(TC4A)Cl]4(Ln)8}·18CH3OH·33DMA (CIAC-118 and CIAC-120), where TC4A represents deprotonated p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene, and DMF and DMA represent N,N-dimethylformamide and N,N-dimethylacetamide, respectively. Tetrahedral coordination cages (CIAC-117 and CIAC-119) with shuttlecock-like Co4-TC4A secondary building units (SBUs) as the vertices and L1 and L2 as the three-connected linkers were prepared in the presence of tetramethylammonium hydroxide, while truncated octahedral coordination cages (CIAC-118 and CIAC-120) with L1 and L2 as the two-connected linkers were generated upon the addition of HCl. For CIAC-117, two types of activation methods, solvent exchange-heating and direct heating, were used to investigate the removal of guest molecules in the structure.
