The complex [NEt4]2[Mo2Cu5S6O2(Me2NCS2)3] has been prepared by the reaction of CuCl, Na[S2CNMe2],NEt4Br, and [NH4]2[MoS2O2] in dimethylformamide solution. It crystallizes in the orthogonal space group Pnma with a= 23.373(3), b= 17.202(3), c= 12.474(4)A, and Z= 4. The Mo2Cu5S6O2 framework in the anion consists of two defective cubane-like units OMoS3Cu2 and OMoS3Cu3 linked through two weak Cu–S bonds and bridged by two Me2NCS2 ligands. The synthesis of the series of compounds [NEt4]2[M2Cu5S8(Me2NCS2)3], [PPh4]2[M2Cu5S6O2(Et2NCS2)3](M = Mo or W), and [NEt4]2[MoCu3S4(Et2NCS2)3] are reported. Their structures are discussed together with their 1H, 13C, and 95Mo n.m.r. spectra in solution.

A nanogel combined with a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP-nanogel) receptor was prepared using the specificity determinant as a template in aqueous media. The artificial receptor can serve as the selective recognition element for angiotensins I and II and a novel way to control hypertension was investigated.

A quindecanuclear nickel–sulphur cluster compound with triphenylphosphine, Ni15(µ3-S)6(µ4-S)9(PPh3)6, is obtained from the reaction of NiCl2, PPh3, and Na2S in dimethylformamide–tetrahydrofuran and has been shown by X-ray single crystal structural analysis to be co-facial quater-octahedra in a chain.

The cluster compound [(η5-Cp)4CO4(η4-S)2] was isolated from the reaction between [(η5-Cp)Co(PR3)2] and Li2S at 60 ·C; the tetramer is capped by two quadruply-bridging sulphur atoms above and below the Co4 square plane to form a distorted octahedral core Co4S2 as shown by X-ray single crystal structural analysis.

The complexes [Co(dppp)(SPh)2][dppp = 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane] and [Co(bdpp)(SPh)2][bdpp = bis(2-diphenylphosphinoethyl)phenylphosphine] were prepared in good yields by treating Co(dppp)Cl2 with NaSPh and elemental selenium in dimethylformamide and by treating CoCl2·6H2O and bdpp in acetonitrile with NaSPh, respectively. The complex [Co(dppp)(SPh)2] crystallizes in the triclinic space group P, with a= 9.665(2), b= 10.075(1), c= 18.288(2)A, α= 102.41(1), β= 93.89(1), γ= 92.40(1)° and Z= 2, whereas the complex [Co(bdpp)(SPh)2] is monoclinic, space group Cc, with a= 16.374(2), b= 26.033(3), c= 10.873(5)A, β= 117.49(2)° and Z= 4.

An asymmetrical dinuclear cobalt complex Co2(dppe)(µ-SPh)3SPh (dppe = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) has been prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction showing the entirely different geometrical environments of the two cobalt(II) atoms.
