Introduction: Globalization has increased the importance of multicultural research to address health disparities and improve healthcare outcomes for underrepresented communities. The International Nursing Network for HIV Research (The Network) serves as a platform for researchers to collaborate on cross-cultural and cross-national HIV studies. This article discusses the Network's approach to overcoming barriers in multicultural and multinational research in a qualitative context., Methods: The network created a protocol to guide decision-making throughout the translation process of qualitative data collected from participants in their native languages. Objective: To determine how the COVID-19 pandemic impacts patients with chronic disease medication adherence., Methods: Four electronic databases, PubMed, MEDLINE, Web of Science, and CINAHL Plus Full Text, were searched for literature between 2019 and 2021. Abstracts and later full texts were independently screened by the authors of this review using inclusion and exclusion criteria to determine relevance to our study. Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal tools were used to assess the quality of included texts. Relevant information and data from the included texts were extracted into tables for data synthesis and analysis., Results: Ten studies met the study criteria, the most popular study design was cross-sectional design (n = 9, 90.0%), others were case series (n = 1, 10.0%). Barriers to medication adherence and facilitators of medication adherence were the major two themes that participants reported regarding the impact of COVID-19 on medication adherence. Moreover, these two main themes have been organized in sub-themes that are dealt with in-depth., Discussion: Our results could heighten healthcare providers, stakeholders, and policy leaders' awareness of providing appropriate support for chronic disease patients, especially regarding medication adherence. Future research incorporating programs that support patients' needs is recommended.

This article describes a qualitative and quantitative approach to the development and iterative revision process of producing valid, user-friendly pictorial patient education handouts (infographics) on tracheostomy care. An iterative user-centered design with health professional, patient, and family caregiver panels was used. The authors first developed a new evaluation tool for pictorial education handouts, the Perceived Infographics Usability Measurement (PIUM). The patient education handout, consisting of three A3-size posters with illustrations on key steps of daily tracheostomy care, reached a high consensus among health professional experts (88.3%) and patients and family caregivers (89.1%) on PIUM usability indexes. Patients and family caregivers expressed that the patient education handout would be an understandable teaching tool and procedure reminder, which would help alleviate fears about tracheostomy care. The PIUM demonstrated satisfactory content validity and reliability properties and was a quality tool to guide the transformation of text-based content to a pictorial patient education handout.
