The article examines the effort of the Australian government in creating a viable wind energy policy. It is said that visual impact and community consultation factors were rendered insignificant for planners to give consideration to the state's commitment to renewable energy. The wind industry is claimed to be not fitted to benefit from subsidies on offer until they could show effective emissions savings. The head of renewables for the Sustainable Energy Authority asserted that it is impossible to measure the emissions benefit from wind. This is supported by another claim that wind is an experiment and its benefit cannot be availed until they are already established.
