The introduction of the obligation to prepare ESG reports taking into account EU Taxonomy is a challenge for enterprises, but at the same time opens up the possibility of using disclosures in this area to assess entities in the context of environmentally sustainable activities. Legal changes in the field of the Green Deal have been introduced in the last three years, and in the area of EU taxonomy this process is still ongoing, resulting in a deficit of research on the effects of implementing the new legal regulations. The main goal of our study is to assess the importance of the newly applicable ESG reporting and environmental disclosure requirements under EU Taxonomy in improving the quality and comparability of sustainability reporting and the creation of ESG ratings. A qualitative research method was applied based on multiple case studies using content analysis on the basis of ESG reports for 2021-2022 for entities listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The research results indicate a very low level of activities classified as environmentally sustainable and taxonomy-aligned. Additionally, the results may also indicate problems with implementing the new solutions in reporting practice. The sustainability concept embraces a wide scope of linked practices: green thinking, sustainability informational and management assurance, ESG reporting and scoring, responsible and impact investment, stability measurements, and others. Significantly expanding beneficiary's and stakeholders' circle needs information to build and implement a policy providing ESG values creation and meeting their requirements in relevant sustainable agenda. This is why it is important to create a transparent information landscape and to shape new highlights in management and decision-making. The article is aimed at exploring specific ways to transform information and management practices, primarily accounting, ESG-reporting, analysis, and assurance to create a transparent information environment for sustainability. The study is designed as a qualitative analysis of existing information and related practices to identify gaps in the information needed by stakeholders for decision-making with that practically generated in the current environmental momentum. It involves summarising, categorizing, and interpreting open access sources data, such as unidirectional studies, non-financial reporting and ESG-rankings databases, program documents, frameworks and standards for sustainability and "responsible" reporting, professional audit analytics, and others. Logical and comparative analysis was used for data processing. The study's theoretical framework is based on accounting theories, particularly the Interpretative paradigm. The possibilities were assessed following proposed approaches to upgrade the up-to-date system of informational-verifying appraisal practices by the requirements of a proper ESG environment. A holistic system layout was suggested, including information and control practices employed to provide sustainability. The main part of the recommendations refers to accounting and reporting for sustainability. New accounting ESG objects to display in this system were identified. It developed an integrated balance model of total capitals and their sources engaged and ESG -value-creating, taking for the basis traditional balance theory. Given the diversity of corporate non-financial reporting, classification characteristics for ESG reporting were suggested, and two key models of ESG reporting were defined. Recommendations were made in the field of design and methodology for information support of sustainability. The article is the author's vision of the problems and ways of advancing traditional information practices in the context of global sustainability management requests. Recommendations for the holistic system of sustainability governance, informational support creation, transformation of accounting, ESG-reporting, other linked practices, streamlining, and methodological development of information activities that can be used in the practical field and employed in programmatic, advisory, and regulatory documents that structure the information field of socio-economic life. The subject of this study is, firstly, the identification of new obligations for financial institutions and supervisors resulting from the normative inclusion of ESG (environmental, social and governance) policy in financial market regulation. Secondly, we will answer the question of whether and to what extent the current regulatory pattern is changing in connection with ESG policy and, for this purpose, conduct an examination in the light of the provisions of the sustainable finance risk law from the perspective of a financial institution operating on the financial market, taking into account supervisory regulations in this area. The role of the banking system in promoting and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in Europe has recently become very significant. As an important part of the financial sector, green banking helps to achieve the goals of sustainable development, which, in times of global financial, economic, climate, and social crises and of war, is very important. The authors aim to present the general approach to 'green banking' in Poland and the Czech Republic as represented by the banking sectors themselves and the national regulatory and supervisory authorities, with reference to the EU legal framework. They posit that 'green banking' is an increasingly important trend in the development of the Polish and Czech financial markets and conclude that EU regulations are the biggest driver of change in green finance, resulting in an increased awareness of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) factors. What is required, however, is greater systemic involvement of the institutions that constitute the financial safety net, especially central banks. The research has used a theoretical and dogmatic-legal method, based on content analysis and the availability of source information, i.e. theoretical-legal publications, overview sector reports, and, in particular, legal regulations key to the topic. This study aims to predict the ESG (environmental, social, and governance) return volatility based on ESG index data from 26 October 2017 and 31 March 2023 in the case of India. In this study, we utilized GARCH (Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity) and LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) models for forecasting the return of ESG volatility and to evaluate the model's suitability for prediction. The study's findings demonstrate the GARCH effect inside the ESG return volatility data, indicating the occurrence of volatility in response to market fluctuations. This study provides insight concerning the suitability of models for volatility predictions. Moreover, based on the analysis of the return volatility of the ESG index, the GARCH model is more appropriate than the LSTM model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Environmental sustainability, social engagement and robust governance gained growing attention from consumers and investors alike, leading to what we call 'ESG finance'. ESG criteria are now shaping the behaviour and choices of enterprises, investors and consumers. Indeed laudable, the increased importance of ESG finance could raise concerns about the robustness underneath this new set of financial products. Moreover, the reliability of ESG-related data and information shared by companies may also be challenged due to the ability of those indicators to shape the public profile of companies and their attractiveness for investors. A new breed of ESG rankings and ratings is widening the metrics that consumers and investors use to make informed decisions about their consumption and investment. Yet, such rankings and ratings hinge on the individual disclosure approaches of the interested companies. This article wishes to complement available data and information about specific emissions data released by companies with the ESG disclosure levels, in particular relating to the "environment" dimension. Based on these disclosure levels, the authors build a new metric with the purpose of reducing asymmetric information and promoting more responsible investment. Starting from ESG-related data and publicly available information, a new disclosure-adjusted pollution index (namely, the GHG Scope-1 DAdj index) is developed. The second part of the article puts forward an empirical analysis on the basis of this new index, suggesting that the rush to ESG finance could be poised to generate leeway for new types of asymmetries and possible distortions in investment decision-making, also providing grounds for potentially reckless speculative attitudes, especially in the domain of product development of financial instruments that may generate new forms of risk for investors. Using the GHG Scope-1 DAdj index makes a few companies less environmentally friendly and interesting for investors who are seeking responsible and sustainable investment options. The innovative index and the empirical analysis lead the authors to suggest to "split the domains of ESG" to better gauge the relation between impact and compliance costs for companies as the individual components of environment, social engagement and governance are considered separately.
