The beat-up mechanism of a loom with exciters for vibrating motion of the reed is presented. With the placing of exciters at regular distances across the width of the reed, certain differences can be observed in the amplitudes of the vibratory motion of individual blades. Undercutting is proposed here as a method of reducing these differences. The permissible distance between the exciters was determined taking into account the undercut reed. The undulation of the reed in the process of thickening of the wefts is shown to be a consequence of undercutting. For a distance between the exciters of L = 200 mm and relative depth of the undercut h0/h = 0.8, differences in the amplitudes of individual blades do not exceed 10%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During the global technological progress, including in the textile field, it has become necessary to look for innovative solutions to make fabric designs that can be characterised by special texture and relief, as well as opportunities to create them with modern weaving looms. Most commonly, such innovative fabric structures can be woven by using several different methods, and sometimes by several weaving looms of different designs and uses. Thus this article provides an introduction and thorough analysis of two weaving methods used to weave such linen fabrics of innovative structure by modern computerised looms of different types and designs: the terry gripper weaving loom Smit GS940F and smooth fabric gripper jacquard weaving loom Dornier PTS 6/J C. In both cases the structure effects of those fabrics were rather similar. Most fabric properties are better for the fabrics woven by the second technique. For that kind of fabric structure it is therefore advisable to use the second weaving method, i. e. the smooth fabric gripper weaving loom Dornier PTS 6/J C. Smooth fabric looms are more versatile, and they do not require a set of specific complex mechanisms that are usually used on a terry gripper weaving loom. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A model of the beating-up force of a weft thread in a weaving loom was developed on the basis of the shed geometry. A dynamic model of the process of thickening weft threads was built and a multi-parameter simulation of vibratory thickening was performed. The effect of the dynamic parameters of the vibratory motion of the reed on the improvement in technological parameters of weaving was tested. It was discovered in the process of manufacturing that the parameters of a fabric structure change after taking it away from the weaving loom and its stabilisation. This is probably due to the geometry of the fabric cross-section, i.e. changes in yarn cross-section projections and the fabric structure phase. Thus in this study attempts were made to make an analysis of changes in the parameters of fabrics of different raw material and the dependence on the integrated fabric structure factor ?. Similar research of the above changes had not been performed previously.
