Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk menelaah peningkatan kemampuan berpikir logis matematis dan kemandirian belajar siswa. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen, dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas IX salah satu SMP Negeri di Cianjur. Sampel penelitian dipilih sebanyak 2 kelas. Kelas eksperimen belajar melalui model kooperatif tipe TAI dengan pendekatan open ended, dan kelas kontrol belajar melalui model pembelajaran langsung. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adakah tes kemampuan berpikir logis matematis dan skala kemandirian belajar. Pengolahan data menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney, uji t, uji Kruskal-Wallis dan uji proporsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) peningkatan kemampuan berpikir logis matematis secara signifikan terjadi pada siswa kelompok tinggi yang belajar melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI dengan pendekatan open ended; (2) peningkatan kemandirian belajar siswa yang belajar melalui model kooperatif tipe TAI dengan pendekatan open ended lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar melalui model pembelajaran langsung. Berdasarkan analisi data dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran model kooperatif tipe TAI dengan pendekatan open ended adalah suatu alternatif pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir logis matematis dan kemandirian belajar bagi siswa kelompok tinggi. Abstract: The aim of the research is to analyze the students’ improvement of logical and mathematical thinking skill and self regulated learning. The research design is quasi-experiment and population is all student grade IX at one of Junior High Schools in Cianjur. Two classes were chosen as the samples for research. The experimental class learning trough cooperative model type team assissted individualization (TAI) with open ended approach and the control class received directive learning. The research instruments were test of logical and mathematical thinking ability, and the questionaire about students' self regulated learning. The data analysis used Mann-Whitney test, T-test, Kruskall-Wallis test and proportion test. The result of the research indicated: (1) The improvement of students’ logical and mathematical thinking ability significantly took place in the high level group students had learn trough cooperative learning type team assissted individualization with open-ended approach; (2) The improvement of students’ self regulated learning trough cooperative learning type team assissted individualization with open-ended approach better than students who learn trough Direct Instruction model. Based-on data analysis concluded that cooperative learning type team assissted individualization with open ended approach can used as an alternative model to improve students’ logical and mathematical thinking ability, and self-regulated learning for students in the high level.
