Kycklingkonsumtionen ökar i världen och i Sverige. För att bemöta den ökade efterfrågan på Svensk kyckling som kan förväntas i framtiden behöver den slaktade volymen öka och fler djur produceras. De befintliga producenterna föder idag upp fler omgångar kyckling per år än någonsin och ökat kapacitetsutnyttjande sker också genom delad slakt för vissa producenter. För att bemöta den ökade efterfrågan på svenskt kycklingkött kan därför förväntas att produktionsytan behöver öka i landet i form av nyinvesteringar. Det visar även SJV (2015) att intresset för investering i kycklingproduktion har ökat. Det finns dock begränsad offentlig information om prisnivåer samt intäkts- och kostnadspåverkande faktorer för kycklingproduktion vilket gör att det råder informationsasymmetri på marknaden och mot allmänheten. Vid samtal med kycklingproducenter lyfts detta problem fram genom att de upplever att många har en felaktig bild av branschens lönsamhet. Det efterfrågas oberoende kalkyler och analyser som kan påvisa en korrekt bild av branschens lönsamhet och förutsättningar. Studiens syfte är att analysera olika produktionsvariablers påverkan på det ekonomiska resultatet för kycklingproduktion. I studien upprätts en investeringskalkyl för ett nybyggt kycklingstall på 8000 kvadratmeter för att identifiera hur förändringar i produktionsvariablerna påverkar lönsamheten. För att uppnå studiens syfte har empiriskt material samlats in från anonyma kycklingproducenter i form av historisk produktionsuppföljning samt genom intervjuer. För att bedöma investeringskostnaden har nyligen uppförda kycklingstalls investeringskostnader analyserats. Studiens resultat visar att lönsamheten vid en investering i ett kycklingstall är mycket svag vid rådande förutsättningar. Investeringskalkylerna i studien beräknas med nuvärdesmetoden och hanterar inte finansieringskostnader. Vid aktuella prisnivåer samt genomsnittligt produktionsresultat från studiens producenter med en grundinvestering på 4200 kr per kv, The consumption of broiler is increasing in Sweden and in the world. To meet the increased demand in Sweden that is expected in the future, the slaughtered volume has to increase. The existing producers in Sweden produce today more broiler per year than ever before and the producer’s capacity utilization is already at maximum. To meet the increased demand of Swedish broiler, new investments in broiler production has to increase. However, there is limited public information on price levels and costs influencing factors for broiler production, which means that there is information asymmetry in the market and the public. Producers request an independent evaluation and analysis that can detect an accurate picture of the industry´s profitability and prospects. The study aims to analyze the impact of different production variables on the financial performance of broiler production and the establishment of an investment appraisal for a broiler stable of 8 000 square meters. In order to achieve the purpose of the study empirical material is gathered from anonymous broiler producers in the form of historical production reports and interviews. The study results show that the profitability of an investment in a new broiler stable is rather weak at the current conditions. At current price levels and average production results from the study, a producer with an initial investment of 4 200 kr per square meter and a discount rate of 4 %, the study shows a profit margin of – 3,6 % when the expected life of the investment is 20 years. If producers deliver a batch less per year with the same conditions as before, the profit will decrease with 12,5 % per year in the investment calculation.
