The article discusses the short history and design of the Saunders-Roe R.45 Princess flying boat. The plane's use of Proteus turboprop engines and its relatively large size and high speeds are explained. The plane was to be used by the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC), although only one was ever actually flown, and only in a test setting.
