Abstract

Summary White model, which considers the mesoscopic layered distribution of rock frame and pore fluid, is usually used to study the propagation characteristics of P wave. In this paper, an extended White layered model that deals with two kinds of frame and each frame filled with two kinds of fluid is proposed. Choosing a representative element volume (REV), we analyze the model using poroelastic method and get the complex plane wave modulus, which is further used for studying P wave propagation characteristics. When compared with White model, this new model overcomes the restriction that there can be just one kind of fluid in each rock frame. What’s more, when the two rock frames have the same properties or the thickness parameters satisfy certain conditions, extended White layered model degenerates to White model.
