Objective: This study aimed to construct a predictive model for assessing the risk of development of neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE) among patients with SLE based on clinical, laboratory, and meteorological data., Methods: A total of 2232 SLE patients were included and were randomly assigned into training and validation sets. Variables such as clinical and laboratory data and local meteorological data were screened by univariate and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression modelling. After 10-fold cross-validation, the predictive model was built by multivariate logistic regression, and a nomogram was constructed to visualize the risk of NPSLE. The efficacy and accuracy of the model were assessed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and calibration curve analysis. Net clinical benefit was assessed by decision curve analysis., Results: Variables that were included in the predictive model were anti-dsDNA, anti-SSA, lymphocyte count, hematocrit, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, pre-albumin, retinol binding protein, creatine kinase isoenzyme MB, Nterminal brain natriuretic peptide precursor, creatinine, indirect bilirubin, fibrinogen, hypersensitive C-reactive protein, CO, and mild contamination. The nomogram showed a broad prediction spectrum; the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.895 (0.858-0.931) for the training set and 0.849 (0.783-0.916) for the validation set., Conclusion: The model exhibits good predictive performance and will confer clinical benefit in NPSLE risk calculation. Objective: Systemic lupus erythematosus is a complex autoimmune disorder, and evidence supports the significance of genetic polymorphisms in SLE genetic susceptibility. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of BTN3A1 (butyrophilin 3A1), SHP2 (Src homology-2 containing protein tyrosine phosphatase), CD274 (programmed cell death 1 ligand 1), and STAT3 (signal transducer-activator of transcription 3) gene interactions on SLE risk., Materials and Methods: Two hundred and ninety patients diagnosed with SLE and 370 healthy controls were recruited. A multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR) approach was used to determine the epistasis among single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on the BTN3A1 (rs742090), SHP2 (rs58116261), CD174 (rs702275), and STAT3 (rs8078731) genes. The best risk prediction model was identified in terms of precision and cross-validation consistency., Results: Allele A and genotype AA were negatively related to genetic susceptibility of SLE for BTN3A1 rs742090 (OR = 0.788 (0.625-0.993), P = 0.044; OR = 0.604 (0.372-0.981), P = 0.040). For STAT3 rs8078731, allele A and genotype AA were positively related to the risk of SLE (OR = 1.307 (1.032-1.654), P = 0.026; OR = 1.752 (1.020-3.010), P = 0.041). MDR analysis revealed the most significant interaction between BTN3A1 rs742090 and SHP2 rs58116261. The best risk prediction model was a combination of BTN3A1 rs742090, SHP2 rs58116261, and STAT3 rs8078731 (accuracy = 0.5866, consistency = 10/10, OR = 1.9870 (1.5964-2.4731), P = 0.001)., Conclusion: These data indicate that risk prediction models formed by gene interactions (BTN3A1, SHP2, STAT3) can identify susceptible populations of SLE. Key Points • BTN3A1 rs742090 polymorphism was a protective factor for systemic lupus erythematosus, while STAT3 rs8078731 polymorphism was a risk factor. • There was a strong synergistic effect of BTN3A1 rs742090 and SHP2 rs58116261, and interaction among BTN3A1 rs742090, SHP2 rs58116261, and STAT3 rs8078731 constructed the best model to show association with SLE risk., (© 2023. Molten salt oxidation (MSO) is an advanced method for waste resins treatment; nevertheless, the research about gas product variations of resins under different stoichiometric air feed coefficient (α) is rare. The optimal working condition of hazardous waste disposal is obtained through thermodynamic equilibrium calculation, and the method to improve the treatment efficiency is found to guide the optimization of the actual experiment. In this paper, Fact Sage was used to calculate the oxidation products of cation exchange resins (CERs) at different temperatures and α, focusing on the similarities and differences through the contents of CO, CH 4 , CO 2 , and SO 2 during the oxidation of CERs, the MSO of CERs, and the theoretical calculation. The results indicated that the gas products of the calculation and reality of the oxidation process of CERs are quite different, while the CO contents of CERs during MSO are close to the calculated values. The main reason for this consequence is that in the oxidation process of CERs, the S in the sulfonic acid group will form thermally stable C-S with the styrene-divinylbenzene skeleton. Moreover, the introduction of carbonate can promote the destruction of C-S and absorb SO2 as sulfate, weakening the influence of C-S on the oxidation products of CERs. The gas chromatograph results indicated that the SO 2 content is reduced from 0.66% in the process of CERs oxidation to 0.28% in MSO of CERs. When 1.25 times stoichiometric air feed coefficient is fed, the sulfate content in the carbonate is the highest at 900 °C, which is 23.4%., (© 2022. Objective: Despite the high incidence and mortality of cardiovascular events in hyperuricemia patients, the role of serum uric acid in cardiovascular diseases is still controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis was to explore the difference of carotid intima-media thickness in hyperuricemia and control groups., Methods: We performed this meta-analysis by searching the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase and Web of Science databases up to July 2020. The 95% confidence intervals and standard mean differences were calculated to analyze the differences in carotid intima-media thickness in hyperuricemia groups and control groups. Sensitivity analysis, subgroup analysis and meta-regression were used to explore the sources of heterogeneity. Publication bias was evaluated by funnel plot and Begg's regression test. We used Stata 14.0 software to complete our analyses., Results: A total of 8 articles were included. The results showed that there was a significant increase in carotid intima-media thickness in the hyperuricemia groups compared with the control groups [SMD = 0.264, 95% CI (0.161-0.366), P < 0.001]. Subgroup analyses showed that age, sample size, blood pressure and body mass index were not the source of heterogeneity. Meta-regression enrolled the method of CIMT measurement, location, age, smoking and diabetes mellitus as categorical variables, but none of these factors was found to be significant in the model. The Begg's test value (P = 0.174) was greater than 0.05, indicating there was no publication bias., Conclusion: The results showed that carotid intima-media thickness was increased in hyperuricemia patients compared with controls, which indicated that hyperuricemia patients may have a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases., (© 2021. Objectives: This study evaluated expression of circRNA in primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) patients so as to find novel biomarkers for pSS screening and discussed possible role of circRNA in pSS. We also evaluated expression profile of circRNA in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients., Methods: Microarray analysis detected circRNA expression in PBMCs from five paired pSS, SLE patients, and controls. Then, differentially expressed circRNAs were validated in 30 pSS patients as compared to 30 SLE patients, healthy controls. CircRNAs interacting with miRNAs were discussed by Arraystar's homemade miRNA target prediction software. ROC analysis assessed the diagnostic value., Results: We identified 234 differentially expressed circRNAs in pSS patients and verified five selected circRNAs (including hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;001264, hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;104121, hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;045355, hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;103461, hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;105034). Expression of hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;001264, hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;104121, and hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;045355 was strongly related to some clinical, laboratory parameters, and disease activity index in pSS patients. ROC analysis indicated potential diagnostic ability for the three circRNAs in pSS patients. One hundred and forty-eight circRNAs were differently expressed between lupus patients and controls., Conclusion: This study provides evidence that hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;001264, hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;104121, and hsa&#95;circRNA&#95;045355 might be biomarkers for pSS, correlate with pSS etiology.Key Points• Many circRNAs were dysregulated in pSS patients.• Differentially expressed circRNAs correlated with pSS clinical, laboratory features.• CircRNAs may be biomarkers for pSS.

The H19 (rs2839698, rs3741219) and HOTAIR (rs920778) polymorphisms were related to many kinds of cancers. However, these polymorphisms have been scarcely explored in different autoimmune diseases. Here, we aimed to examine the association of the polymorphisms with susceptibility to or protection against systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) among Chinese Han patients. We conducted a case-control study including 800 patients (300 with SLE, 350 with RA, and 150 with pSS) and 350 healthy control individuals. The polymorphisms were specified from genomic DNA using TaqMan genotyping assay on a 7300 real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction system. H19 rs2839698 was not associated with SLE susceptibility and was not associated with RA and pSS, respectively (P > 0.05). Similarly, we did not find significant differences of allele or genotype frequencies between SLE, RA, and pSS patients and healthy controls for H19 gene rs3741219 polymorphism (P > 0.05). In addition, no significant evidence was detected for the relationship of HOTAIR rs920778 polymorphism with risk of these diseases. Our results suggested that H19 rs2839698, rs3741219, and HOTAIR rs920778 polymorphisms may not be involved in the genetic background of SLE, RA, and pSS in Chinese.

Brachial plexus injury (BPI) is a type of severe peripheral nerve trauma that leads to central remodeling in the brain, as revealed by functional MRI analysis. However, previously reported remodeling is mostly restricted to sensorimotor areas of the brain. Whether this disturbance in the sensorimotor network leads to larger-scale functional remodeling remains unknown. We sought to explore the higher-level brain functional abnormality pattern of BPI patients from a large-scale network function connectivity dimension in 15 right-handed BPI patients. Resting-state functional MRI data were collected and analyzed using independent component analysis methods. Five components of interest were recognized and compared between patients and healthy subjects. Patients showed significantly altered brain local functional activities in the bilateral fronto-parietal network (FPN), sensorimotor network (SMN), and executive-control network (ECN) compared with healthy subjects. Moreover, functional connectivity between SMN and ECN were significantly less in patients compared with healthy subjects, and connectivity strength between ECN and SMN was negatively correlated with patients' residual function of the affected limb. Functional connectivity between SMN and right FPN were also significantly less than in controls, although connectivity between ECN and default mode network (DMN) was greater than in controls. These data suggested that brain functional disturbance in BPI patients extends beyond the sensorimotor network and cascades serial remodeling in the brain, which significantly correlates with residual hand function of the paralyzed limb. Furthermore, functional remodeling in these higher-level functional networks may lead to cognitive alterations in complex tasks.

Claisen rearrangement and subsequent aldol reaction furnished trans-decaline key intermediate, which assured a formal total synthesis of (-)-Triptophenolide and (+)-Triptolide.

Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by abnormal production of autoantibodies and proinflammatory cytokines. The clear pathogenesis of SLE has not been fully elucidated. Cytokine-mediated immunity has been showed to be involved in the pathogenesis of SLE., Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate serum levels of cytokines (IL-19, IL-24, IL-26, IL-31, IL-32, IL-36) in SLE patients, in comparison with normal controls in a Chinese population., Materials and Methods: A total of 65 patients with SLE and 65 healthy volunteers were recruited for the current study. All serum levels of cytokines were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits., Results: Serum levels of IL-19, IL-24, IL-26, IL-31, IL-32 and IL-36 in SLE patients were not significantly different from the normal controls (all p > 0.05)., Conclusion: Serum levels of IL-19, IL-24, IL-26, IL-31, IL-32 and IL-36 in SLE patients were not markedly different from the normal controls. However, functional research should be discussed in future studies to elucidate the roles of these cytokines in SLE.
