Abstract

Several popular model-tracing tutors are available today, but they are usually limited by common general compromises, such as (1) between the complexity and the variety of the domains taught, or (2) between the precision of student modeling and the degree of easiness to model new domains. We present an improved version of the ASTUS formalism, allowing the modeling of more complex knowledge while simultaneously increasing the diversity of pedagogical behavior, with no loss in diversity or time consumption.

Abstract

The Computed Torque Control (CTC) is an effective motion control strategy for a biped walking robot, which can ensure globally asymptotic stability. However, CTC scheme requires precise dynamical models of biped robot. To handle this impossibility, we proposed an approach combing CTC and fuzzy logic controller to regulate the dynamic walking of a planar 7 degrees-of-freedom under-actuated biped robot to follow a specified trajectory. A computed torque is used to achieve high speed and high precision tracking while the fuzzy controller behaves remedies for any parameter deviation compensating thus for unknown uncertainties and disturbances. Finally, computer simulation are carried on and results are presented to show tracking capability and effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract

This paper presents a new method to combine in the ASTUS framework the advantages of generic ITSs and their standards with the usability of their domain-specific counterparts when faced with the problem of user interface design. This method involves coupling the taught domain's semantics with the interface, defining scripts to explicit problem-solving step recognition and specifying how relevant data is gathered from that interface. The method is applied to a classic problem solving domain to highlight its potential.

Abstract

In this paper, we present a method using contiguity in Discriminant Factorial Analysis at the assignment step, where the neighbourhood of a point is defined by a contiguity graph. Two criteria, both based on Mahalanobis distance are proposed. They use a new notion called the “possible” classes of the neighbourhood of a point, according to the smallest distances recorded for the latter. A new “distance” taking into account the neighbourhood of a point is also introduced. These methods have been applied to image clustering.
