The article reports that the Austrian Society of Analytical Chemistry (ASAC) becomes a supporting partner of the journal "Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry." In the context of the European idea, the ASAC has also sought to contribute actively to the journal's progress and initiated consultations with the owners to become a member of the group of supporting societies. The joining together of the journal's and our efforts and interests has been highly appreciated by all partners. Austria's long tradition of excellence in the field of analytical chemistry supported this process. Analytical chemistry as a subject has always been an interdisciplinary field, if one may say so, receiving stimulation from various disciplines such as physical chemistry, spectrometry, organic chemistry, material sciences, engineering, electronics, data handling, to name a few.
