Abstract In recent years, the Chinese government has initiated assertive centralization efforts in its approach to environmental governance. However, the efficacy of these initiatives demonstrates marked variability across different sectors. While the central-local relational framework has traditionally been employed to elucidate these disparities, its explanatory power is showing signs of strain. This paper, through policy analysis and field interviews, investigates regulatory conflicts in land use for ecological and agricultural purposes within China. The findings highlight instances of overlapping jurisdictions and discordant policy objectives among agencies responsible for delineating ecological spaces and agricultural zones. While these conflicts seem to stem from the dynamics between the central and local governments, they more accurately reflect the inherent characteristics of fragmented authoritarianism. This paper aims to expand the theory of fragmented authoritarianism by incorporating the dimension of inter-departmental competition into environmental governance, moving beyond the traditional binary analysis framework of central-local relations. It seeks to understand and critique its limitations from a broader perspective, emphasizing the role of departmental competition within fragmented authoritarianism. By analyzing this internal mechanism, the paper reveals a more nuanced governance landscape, essentially replacing the traditional central-local paradigm with a model that situates departmental competition within the overall context of fragmented authoritarianism. We propose two models for delineating competition among governmental institutions: the bureaucratic model and the charisma model, thereby advancing and deepening the application of fragmented authoritarianism theory in China’s environmental governance. This provides new theoretical insights for understanding the current challenges and developments in China’s environmental governance.

In response to the escalating global threat of antimicrobial resistance, our laboratory has established a phagemid packaging system for the generation of CRISPR-Cas13a-antimicrobial capsids targeting methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). However, a significant challenge arose during the packaging process: the unintentional production of wild-type phages alongside the antimicrobial capsids. To address this issue, the phagemid packaging system was optimized by strategically incorporated silent mutations. This approach effectively minimized contamination risks without compromising packaging efficiency. The study identified the indispensable role of phage packaging genes, particularly terL-terS, in efficient phagemid packaging. Additionally, the elimination of homologous sequences between the phagemid and wild-type phage genome was crucial in preventing wild-type phage contamination. The optimized phagemid-LSAB(mosaic) demonstrated sequence-specific killing, efficiently eliminating MRSA strains carrying target antibiotic-resistant genes. While acknowledging the need for further exploration across bacterial species and in vivo validation, this refined phagemid packaging system offers a valuable advancement in the development of CRISPR-Cas13a-based antimicrobials, shedding light on potential solutions in the ongoing battle against bacterial infections. As the largest organ in the human body, skeletal muscle is essential for breathing support, movement initiation, and maintenance homeostasis. It has been shown that programmed cell death (PCD), which includes autophagy, apoptosis, and necrosis, is essential for the development of skeletal muscle. A novel form of PCD called ferroptosis is still poorly understood in relation to skeletal muscle. In this study, we observed that the activation of ferroptosis significantly impeded the differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts into myotubes and concurrently suppressed the expression of OTUB1, a crucial deubiquitinating enzyme. OTUB1-silenced C2C12 mouse myoblasts were used to investigate the function of OTUB1 in ferroptosis. The results show that OTUB1 knockdown in vitro significantly increased C2C12 ferroptosis and inhibited myogenesis. Interestingly, the induction of ferroptosis resulting from OTUB1 knockdown was concomitant with the activation of autophagy. Furthermore, OTUB1 interacted with the P62 protein and stabilized its expression by deubiquitinating it, thereby inhibiting autophagy-dependent ferroptosis and promoting myogenesis. All of these findings demonstrate the critical role that OTUB1 plays in controlling ferroptosis, and we suggest that focusing on the OTUB1-P62 axis may be a useful tactic in the treatment and prevention of disorders involving the skeletal muscle. Background/Objectives: Increased free fatty acid (FFA) promotes adiponectin secretion in healthy subjects and induces inflammation in diabetes. Given the potential pro-inflammatory role of adiponectin in "adiponectin paradox", we performed this study in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) to assess the association of FFA with adiponectin and to investigate whether adiponectin mediates FFA-related inflammation. Methods: This cross-sectional study consisted of adult patients with T2DM. FFA, adiponectin, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were assayed from fasting venous blood after overnight fasting for at least 8 h. Multivariable linear regression analysis and restricted cubic splines (RCS) analysis were performed to identify the association between FFA and adiponectin. Mediation analysis was performed to determine the mediating effect of adiponectin on the association between FFA and TNF-α. Results: This study included 495 participants, with 332 males (67.1%) and a mean age of 47.0 ± 11.2 years. FFA was positively associated with adiponectin (b = 0.126, 95%CI: 0.036–0.215, P = 0.006) and was the main contributor to the increase of adiponectin (standardized b = 0.141). The RCS analysis demonstrated that adiponectin increased with FFA when FFA was less than 0.7 mmol/L but did not further increase thereafter (Poverall < 0.001 and Pnon-linear < 0.001). In addition, adiponectin mediated the association between FFA and TNF-α. The mediating effect was 0.08 (95%CI: 0.03–0.13, P = 0.003) and the mediating effect percentage was 26.8% (95%CI: 4.5–49.2, P = 0.02). Conclusions: In patients with T2DM, FFA was positively associated with adiponectin when FFA was less than 0.7 mmol/L. Elevated adiponectin mediated FFA-related inflammation. Jujubae Fructus, the fruit of Ziziphus jujuba Mill has been used as one of the medicine food homology species for thousands of years in China. Studies have shown that the active ingredients of Jujubae Fructus have a variety of biological effects, but its role in the aging process still lacks knowledge. Here, we investigated the effect of Jujubae Fructus extract (JE) on Caenorhabditis elegans lifespan and its potential mechanism. The lifespan of C. elegans treated with JE was signifificantly increased in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, JE treatment prolonged the reproductive period and increased normal activity during aging in C. elegans. Similarly, JE supplementation also enhanced the resistance to heat and oxidative stress in C. elegans. Furthermore, the mutant worms' lifespan assays demonstrated that JE requires daf-16 to prolong lifespan. DAF-16::GFP analysis of TJ356 showed that JE treatment translocates DAF-16::GFP to nucleus in transgenic worms. By analyzing the downstream of daf-16, we identify that JE may regulate sod3 downstream of daf-16. Mutant worms' lifespan and transgenic reporter gene expression assays revealed that increasing SOD-3 expression was critical for extending longevity in C. elegans with JE therapy. Collectively, these data indicate that JE may have an important role in C. elegans longevity that is dependent on DAF-16 and SOD-3. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Disulfidptosis represents a novel cell death mechanism triggered by disulfide stress, with potential implications for advancements in cancer treatments. Although emerging evidence highlights the critical regulatory roles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the pathobiology of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), research into lncRNAs specifically associated with disulfidptosis in LUAD, termed disulfidptosis-related lncRNAs (DRLs), remains insufficiently explored. Using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)-LUAD dataset, we implemented ten machine learning techniques, resulting in 101 distinct model configurations. To assess the predictive accuracy of our model, we employed both the concordance index (C-index) and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses. For a deeper understanding of the underlying biological pathways, we referred to the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) for functional enrichment analysis. Moreover, we explored differences in the tumor microenvironment between high-risk and low-risk patient cohorts. Additionally, we thoroughly assessed the prognostic value of the DRLs signatures in predicting treatment outcomes. The Kaplan–Meier (KM) survival analysis demonstrated a significant difference in overall survival (OS) between the high-risk and low-risk cohorts (p < 0.001). The prognostic model showed robust performance, with an area under the ROC curve exceeding 0.75 at one year and maintaining a value above 0.72 in the two and three-year follow-ups. Further research identified variations in tumor mutational burden (TMB) and differential responses to immunotherapies and chemotherapies. Our validation, using three GEO datasets (GSE31210, GSE30219, and GSE50081), revealed that the C-index exceeded 0.67 for GSE31210 and GSE30219. Significant differences in disease-free survival (DFS) and OS were observed across all validation cohorts among different risk groups. Porous carbons with concurrently high specific surface area and electronic conductivity are desirable by virtue of their desirable electron and ion transport ability, but conventional preparing methods suffer from either low yield or inferior quality carbons. Here we developed a lithiothermal approach to bottom–up synthesize highly meso–microporous graphitized carbon (MGC). The preparation can be finished in a few milliseconds by the self-propagating reaction between polytetrafluoroethylene powder and molten lithium (Li) metal, during which instant ultra-high temperature (>3000 K) was produced. This instantaneous carbon vaporization and condensation at ultra-high temperatures and in ultra-short duration enable the MGC to show a highly graphitized and continuously cross-coupled open pore structure. MGC displays superior electrochemical capacitor performance of exceptional power capability and ultralong-term cyclability. The processes used to make this carbon are readily scalable to industrial levels. Bolt looseness detection is a common problem in engineering. Most vision-based detection techniques focus on diagnosing ordinary bolt looseness, i.e., the methods used for diagnosis are based only on the sidelines of nuts. These methods cannot be used for anti-loosening bolt looseness diagnosis because of the simultaneous rotation of screws and nuts. Therefore, a novel anti-loosening bolt looseness diagnosis method based on a vision-based technique is proposed in this paper. First, a regular hexagonal cap was installed on the screw, which can be used as a reference for the nut. Then, to automatically distinguish the hexagonal borders of the screw cap and nut, a new hexagonal border reconstruction algorithm is proposed. Furthermore, the relative rotation angles of the screw cap and nut hexagons can be determined using the sidelines of the reconstructed hexagonal borders of the screw cap and nut. Finally, a novel anti-loosening bolt looseness diagnosis method is established by using the relative rotation angle of the regular hexagonal borders of the screw cap and nut under initial status and loose status. A prototype flange node of the transmission tower was used for experimental verification. The results show that the proposed method can effectively detect the loosening angle of anti-loosening bolts. The coupling of excitons in π-conjugated molecules to high-frequency vibrational modes, particularly carbon–carbon stretch modes (1,000–1,600 cm−1) has been thought to be unavoidable1,2. These high-frequency modes accelerate non-radiative losses and limit the performance of light-emitting diodes, fluorescent biomarkers and photovoltaic devices. Here, by combining broadband impulsive vibrational spectroscopy, first-principles modelling and synthetic chemistry, we explore exciton–vibration coupling in a range of π-conjugated molecules. We uncover two design rules that decouple excitons from high-frequency vibrations. First, when the exciton wavefunction has a substantial charge-transfer character with spatially disjoint electron and hole densities, we find that high-frequency modes can be localized to either the donor or acceptor moiety, so that they do not significantly perturb the exciton energy or its spatial distribution. Second, it is possible to select materials such that the participating molecular orbitals have a symmetry-imposed non-bonding character and are, thus, decoupled from the high-frequency vibrational modes that modulate the π-bond order. We exemplify both these design rules by creating a series of spin radical systems that have very efficient near-infrared emission (680–800 nm) from charge-transfer excitons. We show that these systems have substantial coupling to vibrational modes only below 250 cm−1, frequencies that are too low to allow fast non-radiative decay. This enables non-radiative decay rates to be suppressed by nearly two orders of magnitude in comparison to π-conjugated molecules with similar bandgaps. Our results show that losses due to coupling to high-frequency modes need not be a fundamental property of these systems.A molecular design strategy for reducing the vibration-induced non-radiative losses in emissive organic semiconductors is realized by decoupling excitons from high-frequency vibrations. Background: Cancer stem cells (CSCs) induce therapeutic resistance and may be an important barrier to cancer immunotherapy. Chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy has demonstrated remarkable efficacy in clinical settings. However, CAR-T cell therapy fails in a large proportion of patients, especially in those with solid tumors. It is unclear how CSCs mediate resistance to CAR-T cells, and whether CAR-T cells can more effectively eradicate CSCs. Methods: In this study, the effect of CSCs on CAR-T cell therapy was determined using in vitro and in vivo assays. Subsequently, Interleukin-24 (IL-24) was expressed along with CAR in T cells. Further in vitro and in vivo tests were performed to determine the effects of IL-24 on CSCs and CAR-T cell therapy. Results: IL-24 induced apoptosis in CSCs and contributed to T cell activation, differentiation, and proliferation. CAR.IL-24-T cells inhibited CSC enrichment and exhibited stronger antitumor activity in vitro and in vivo. Exposure to PM2.5, a harmful type of air pollution, has been associated with compromised male reproductive health; however, it remains unclear whether such exposure can elicit transgenerational effects on male fertility. Here, we aim to examine the effect of paternal exposure to real-world PM2.5 on the reproductive health of male offspring. We have observed that paternal exposure to real-world PM2.5 can lead to transgenerational primary hypogonadism in a sex-selective manner, and we have also confirmed this phenotype by using an external model. Mechanically, we have identified small RNAs (sRNAs) that play a critical role in mediating these transgenerational effects. Specifically, miR6240 and piR016061, which are present in F0 PM sperm, regulate intergenerational transmission by targeting Lhcgr and Nsd1, respectively. We have also uncovered that piR033435 and piR006695 indirectly regulate F1 PM sperm methylation by binding to the 3′-untranslated region of Tet1 mRNA. The reduced expression of Tet1 resulted in hypermethylation of several testosterone synthesis genes, including Lhcgr and Gnas, impaired Leydig cell function and ultimately led to transgenerational primary hypogonadism. Our findings provide insights into the mechanisms underlying the transgenerational effects of paternal PM2.5 exposure on reproductive health, highlighting the crucial role played by sRNAs in mediating these effects. Cobalt-based transition metal phosphides (TMPs) exhibit huge potential as efficient OER electrocatalysts for commercial applications. Zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) has been served as an appealing precursor for the synthesis of cobalt-based TMPs owing to its distinctive structural advantages. However, the poor conductivity and structural variability of ZIF-67 affect the materials' OER electrocatalytic performance. To enhance the structural stability and OER performance of ZIF-67 derived TMPs, in this work, a polyhedral TMP nanocomposite with porous hollow structure, featuring Fe-CoP on the outer shell and CoP nanoparticles within the cavity, was synthesized using ZIF-67 as template. The ZIF-67 served as both Co precursor and structure template, and the [Fe(CN)6]3− served as precursor of Fe dopant and structure stabilizer. The resulting TMP composite electrode (Fe-CoP) effectively retains the framework of ZIF-67, exhibiting prominently improved OER activity (η10 = 297 mV) and exceptional stability (over 260 h). The Fe–C≡N–Co bonds positively influence the preservation of the sample's morphology after phosphorization. Additionally, a ligand-substitution strategy is proposed for the formation of the designed structure. This strategy, regulating the morphology of 3D structured MOFs, offers a new understanding on stabilizing the geometric structure of MOFs and their derivatives as structure templates. A large number of slopes appear along the line during railway construction, which will pose a threat to railway safety operation. Slope monitoring plays an important role in ensuring the safety of railway operation. Aiming at the difficulties of sensor multiplexing, low accuracy, and large disturbance by trains, this paper proposes a railway slope monitoring method based on integrated fusion detection of inclination and vibration. Instability and failure characteristics of the K3 slope in Shuohuang Railway and dynamic characteristics under the excitation of the train load are analyzed by the finite element method (FEM) analysis. Based on the above analysis, a slope monitoring system is established utilizing the self-developed dual-parameter fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor. The monitoring data of the past four years show that the slope is in a relatively stable state at present. The monitoring data are consistent with the results of the FEM. The feasibility of the damage identification method based on inclination and vibration characteristics is verified, which provides a new method for railway slope monitoring. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Phosphorus (P) limitation of ecosystem processes is widespread in terrestrial habitats. While a few auxiliary metabolic genes (AMGs) in bacteriophages from aquatic habitats are reported to have the potential to enhance P-acquisition ability of their hosts, little is known about the diversity and potential ecological function of P-acquisition genes encoded by terrestrial bacteriophages. Here, we analyze 333 soil metagenomes from five terrestrial habitat types across China and identify 75 viral operational taxonomic units (vOTUs) that encode 105 P-acquisition AMGs. These AMGs span 17 distinct functional genes involved in four primary processes of microbial P-acquisition. Among them, over 60% (11/17) have not been reported previously. We experimentally verify in-vitro enzymatic activities of two pyrophosphatases and one alkaline phosphatase encoded by P-acquisition vOTUs. Thirty-six percent of the 75 P-acquisition vOTUs are detectable in a published global topsoil metagenome dataset. Further analyses reveal that, under certain circumstances, the identified P-acquisition AMGs have a greater influence on soil P availability and are more dominant in soil metatranscriptomes than their corresponding bacterial genes. Overall, our results reinforce the necessity of incorporating viral contributions into biogeochemical P cycling. Soil viruses could have a disproportionate role in ecosystem functioning. The plate curvature model plays an important role in the prediction and control of the double layered clad plate. However, there is currently no such a fast, precise and stable plate curvature model, and the actual shear stress on the cross section is uneven distributed actually which is conflicted with the uniform assumption of the traditional model. Based on the non-uniform distribution, this paper innovatively presents a theoretical plate curvature model using the flow function method and the upper bound method together without the complex stress analysis. The inlet boundary conditions of the model are more accurately modified and optimized as nonlinear functions. The velocity field and strain rate field were built depending on the flow function field. The plastic deformation, shear and friction power were developed by the five-node Gauss–Legendre quadrature method. The post-rolling strain model was obtained by integrating the positive strain rate and shear strain rate with time. The curvature model was constructed by calculating the curvature due to linear and shear strain differences. To demonstrate the validity of the theoretical model, the experiments and the simulation were conducted. The results showed that the relative deviation of the numerical values va and vb is less than 10.0%, accounting for 95.1% and 95.4%, compared with theoretical values. The shear power difference between layer a and b is the main reason for bending. The bending phenomenon appeared at the outlet section of the plate, and the velocity difference provided the shear stress required for bending. The increase of the diameter ratios leads to the increase of the shear strain difference and shear power, and it leads to an increase in the total curvature. To certify the precision of the curvature model, the deviation of the theoretical peak curvature values is 12.05%, and the average deviation is 5.92%, compared with the simulation and experiments. The model can quickly grasp the affecting law of key rolling process parameters on curvature, which will provide theoretical and technical basis for rolling process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Atmospheric dustfall is solid air pollutant, has a major impact on the environment and human health. The objective of this study was to investigate the microscopic characteristics and sources of atmospheric dustfall in open-pit mining coal resource-based city in the arid desert area of Northwest China. The characteristics of size and shape factors, variation of shape factors with size distribution, types of individual particles, and sources of atmospheric dustfall, which were collected in the open-pit mining area and surrounding areas, were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy coupled with an energy dispersive spectrometer (SEM–EDS) combined with graphical method and shape factors. The results showed that the atmospheric dustfall in all functional areas was dominated by coarse-grained particles. The shape of the atmospheric dustfall deviated from spherical shape, and with decreasing particle size, the difference in shape factors increased in each functional area. The EDS and XRD analyses indicated the presence of 13 types of particles. The sources were mainly local and included soil dust from each functional area; industrial dust, construction dust, biogenic impurities, fossil fuel combustion, wear products of motor vehicle parts, motor vehicle exhaust emissions, and emission and excreta from biological activities in each functional area except the desert area; emissions from a steel plant in the industrial area; coal-associated ore, coal dust, coal gangue emissions, and emissions from the spontaneous combustion of coal gangue in the open-pit mining area; secondary chemical crystallization products in the industrial area and the open-pit mining area; dust generated by vehicles abrading the surface of the off-mine coal road and in the open-pit mining area. Molecular triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion often experiences drastic luminescence quenching in the presence of oxygen molecules, posing a significant constraint on practical use in aerated conditions. We present an oxygen-immune near-infrared triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion system utilizing non-organometallic cyanine sensitizers (λex = 808 nm) and chemically synthesized benzo[4,5]thieno[2,3-b][1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-g]quinoxaline dyes with a defined dimer structure as annihilators (λem = 650 nm). This system exhibits ultrastable upconversion under continuous laser irradiance (>480 mins) or extended storage (>7 days) in aerated solutions. Mechanistic investigations reveal rapid triplet-triplet energy transfer from sensitizer to annihilators, accompanied by remarkably low triplet oxygen quenching efficiencies ( η O 2 < 13% for the sensitizer, <3.7% for the annihilator), endowing the bicomponent triplet-triplet annihilation system with inherent oxygen immunity. Our findings unlock the direct and potent utilization of triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion systems in real-world applications, demonstrated by the extended and sensitive nanosensing of peroxynitrite radicals in the liver under in vivo nitrosative stress. Molecular triplet-triplet upconversion is useful in a wide range of applications, but is limited by significant oxygen quenching. The accumulation of metabolic waste is a leading cause of numerous neurological disorders, yet we still have only limited knowledge of how the brain performs self-cleansing. Here we demonstrate that neural networks synchronize individual action potentials to create large-amplitude, rhythmic and self-perpetuating ionic waves in the interstitial fluid of the brain. These waves are a plausible mechanism to explain the correlated potentiation of the glymphatic flow1,2 through the brain parenchyma. Chemogenetic flattening of these high-energy ionic waves largely impeded cerebrospinal fluid infiltration into and clearance of molecules from the brain parenchyma. Notably, synthesized waves generated through transcranial optogenetic stimulation substantially potentiated cerebrospinal fluid-to-interstitial fluid perfusion. Our study demonstrates that neurons serve as master organizers for brain clearance. Dendrite formation induced by electrochemical migration (ECM) is a common reliability problem occurring on printed circuit boards (PCBs), which significantly threatens the long-term safe operations of current implantable electronic devices (IEDs). Although several factors (i.e., contaminations, humidity, temperature) are proved to be the parameters closely related to ECM susceptibility of capacitors on a PCB under climate environments, further targeted research under other environments still needs to be conducted as ECM is highly environmental-dependent. Herein, the effects of bias potential and pitch dimension on ECM sensitivity are systematically studied using various sizes of capacitors on a test PCB under a human implantation environment. The finite element method first proves that a DC voltage pattern could be regarded as an accelerated test compared to other waveforms. Subsequent chronoamperometry tests using the DC potential further indicate that dendrite formation is closely related to pitch dimension under low bias potential, while under high bias potential electric field is also the dominating factor of dendrite formation for capacitors on a PCB. Benefiting from the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique, the capacitor reliability under different corrosion states is also evaluated in a detailed manner. Focusing on the problem of unclear ray-traced spots and their distribution rules in the design process of the Herriott cell, first, the characteristics of long-optical-path gas absorption cells were analyzed, and the calculation method of basic cavity length and the effective optical path of Herriott gas absorber cells were studied. Second, according to the transmission characteristics of geometric optics, a physical model of light transmission in Herriott cells was established via the LightTools software. Finally, simulation analysis was performed on Herriott cells with 5- and 14.4-m optical paths separately, determining the quantitative relationship between d/f and the number of spots reflected on the concave mirror, and optimizing the effective optical path and output laser energy of the Herriott cells. Through research analysis, the sizes and distribution positions of concave mirror spots in the Herriott cells were identified, as well as the factors affecting the number of reflections. It was also found that the number of reflected spots gradually decreases as d/f increases, revealing the light-tracing results and its spot distribution rule on the mirror surface, as well as verifying the accuracy of the theory. AlCrCuFeMnx (x=0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2) high-entropy alloys were prepared using the vacuum arc melting technology. The microstructure and mechanical properties of AlCrCuFeMnx were analyzed and tested by XRD, SEM, TEM, nanoindentation, and electronic universal testing. The results indicate that the AlCrCuFeMnx high-entropy alloy exhibits a dendritic structure, consisting of dendrites with a BCC structure, interdendrite regions with an FCC structure, and precipitates with an ordered BCC structure that form within the dendrite. Manganese (Mn) has a strong affinity for dendritic, interdendritic, and precipitate structures, allowing it to easily enter these areas. With an increase in Mn content, the size of the precipitated nanoparticles in the dendritic region initially increases and then decreases. Similarly, the area fraction initially decreases and then increases. Additionally, the alloy's strength and wear resistance decrease, while its plasticity increases. The AlCrCuFeMn1.5 alloy boasts excellent mechanical properties, including a hardness of 360 HV and a wear rate of 2.4×10-5 mm³ ·N-1·mm-1. It also exhibits impressive yield strength, compressive strength, and deformation rates of 960 MPa, 1,700 MPa, and 27.5%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sequence stratigraphy study in mudstone and oil shale strata is difficulty but critical for the analysis of the quality unconventional oil and gas reservoirs. This contribution investigates the sequence stratigraphy of the Eocene thick organic-rich fine-grained sediments in the Fushun basin, according to the organic geochemical data measured in laboratory and predicted by the amplitude difference the resistivity and the density curve when they are overlapping (which was called ΔlogR). The sampling interval of ΔlogR was 0.125 m. The results show that the total organic carbon, the oil yield, and the petroleum potential of the Eocene mudstones prove a good linear correlation between values measured in lab and values predicted by the ΔlogR model. A total of 21 parasequences are identified in mudstones and can be divided into two cycles, a fully developed lower cycle and an underdeveloped upper cycle. There are four organic matter accumulation stages in a fully developed cycle, including two stages in the uprising half-cycle characterized by low values and rising values of the predicted geochemical data, respectively, followed by two stages in the declining half cycle characterized by high values and decreasing values of the predicted geochemical data, respectively. This contribution provides a basis for a further analysis of the characteristics of organic matter cycles in the oil shale strata of the Fushun Basin and areas with similar situation. Background: Potassium bismuth citrate is a gastric mucosal protector and a key drug for treating peptic ulcers. Objective: To evaluate the pharmacokinetic characteristics and safety of 120-mg bismuth potassium citrate formulations administered orally under fasting conditions in healthy Chinese subjects. Method: A single-center open two-cycle trial was conducted on 12 healthy subjects who received a single oral dose of 120 mg of bismuth potassium citrate. The plasma concentration of bismuth was determined using a validated inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP‒MS) method. The pharmacokinetic parameters, including maximum serum concentration (Cmax) and area under the curve concentration–time curve (AUC0–t and AUC0–∞), and safety were evaluated via noncompartment analysis. Results: The ratios of the least square geometric mean ratio between the test (T) and reference (R) formulations for Cmax, AUC0–t, and AUC0–∞ were 44.8%, 55.5%, and 64.4%, respectively; the bilateral 95% confidence intervals (Cis) for these parameters were 20.2–99.6%, 24.1–127.5%, and 23.7–175.0%, respectively, and the non-inferior limits for these parameters were 169.4%, 198.8%, and 200.5%, respectively. The upper limits of the one-sided 97.5% confidence interval for the least squares geometric mean ratio (T/R) were lower than the non-inferior limits. No serious adverse reactions or adverse reactions leading to detachment were observed among the subjects. Conclusion: The concentration of bismuth in the blood of healthy subjects in the T formulation was not greater than that in the R formulation. Phase instability poses a serious challenge to the commercialization of formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3)-based solar cells and optoelectronic devices. Here, we combine density functional theory and machine learning molecular dynamics simulations, to investigate the mechanism driving the undesired α-δ phase transition of FAPbI3. Prevalent iodine vacancies and interstitials can significantly expedite the structural transition kinetics by inducing robust covalency during transition states. Extrinsically, the detrimental roles of atmospheric moisture and oxygen in degrading the FAPbI3 perovskite phase are also rationalized. Significantly, we discover the compositional design principles by categorizing that A-site engineering primarily governs thermodynamics, whereas B-site doping can effectively manipulate the kinetics of the phase transition in FAPbI3, highlighting lanthanide ions as promising B-site substitutes. A-B mixed doping emerges as an efficient strategy to synergistically stabilize α-FAPbI3, as experimentally demonstrated by substantially higher initial optoelectronic characteristics and significantly enhanced phase stability in Cs-Eu doped FAPbI3 as compared to its Cs-doped counterpart. This study provides scientific guidance for the design and optimization of long-term stable FAPbI3-based solar cells and other optoelectronic devices through defect control and synergetic composition engineering. The black phase formamidinium lead iodide perovskite (α-FAPbI3) undergoes an undesired transformation to a non-perovskite δ-phase, rendering it inactive. Aggresomes are the product of misfolded protein aggregation, and the presence of aggresomes has been correlated with poor prognosis in cancer patients. However, the exact role of aggresomes in tumorigenesis and cancer progression remains largely unknown. Herein, the multiomics screening reveal that OTUD1 protein plays an important role in retaining ovarian cancer stem cell (OCSC) properties. Mechanistically, the elevated OTUD1 protein levels lead to the formation of OTUD1-based cytoplasmic aggresomes, which is mediated by a short peptide located in the intrinsically disordered OTUD1 N-terminal region. Furthermore, OTUD1-based aggresomes recruit ASK1 via protein-protein interactions, which in turn stabilize ASK1 in a deubiquitinase-independent manner and activate the downstream JNK signaling pathway for OCSC maintenance. Notably, the disruption of OTUD1-based aggresomes or treatment with ASK1/JNK inhibitors, including ibrutinib, an FDA-approved drug that was recently identified as an MKK7 inhibitor, effectively reduced OCSC stemness (OSCS) of OTUD1high ovarian cancer cells. In summary, our work suggests that aggresome formation in tumor cells could function as a signaling hub and that aggresome-based therapy has translational potential for patients with OTUD1high ovarian cancer. The role of aggresomes in tumorigenesis and cancer progression remains to be explored. As deep gas-condensate reservoirs are explored, the problem of paraffin deposition is becoming more prominent. Therefore, this paper collects condensate samples from representative paraffin deposition gas-condensate wells and analyzes basic physical properties. The cold plate deposition device is employed to study paraffin deposition behavior under well conditions and to divide the critical regions for paraffin deposition in gas-condensate wells. The experimental apparatus, such as the crude oil dynamic paraffin deposition rate tester, is utilized to investigate the preventive effect of paraffin dispersants and paraffin crystal modifier. The results show that there is significant phase change behavior in gas-condensate wells and gas phase is dominant form, but there is also phase evolution. It can be identified from the experiments that paraffin deposition is mainly located in the 1000 ~ 1500 m region, and a paraffin deposition identification chart has been established. The maximum deposition rate could reach 15.50 mm/year, which matched the temperature and pressure conditions of 45 ℃ and 70 MPa. The preventive effect of paraffin crystal modifiers greatly exceeds that of paraffin dispersants, with paraffin prevention rates of 85–95% at the optimal concentrations of 0.25–0.50 wt.%. The dissolving paraffin rate can reach 0.0169 g/min. It decreases the paraffin appearance temperature approximately 40% and significantly changes the paraffin crystal morphology. Increased deposition surface area of the cold plate structural design describes the paraffin deposition. This diagram facilitates the reliable identification of paraffin deposition areas and the deposition rates in the wellbore during production. The optimum amounts of BZ and PI paraffin inhibitors are quantified. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the paraffin deposition behavior, and scientific basis and guidance for the selection of paraffin inhibitors in gas-condensate wells. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a crucial role as transcription regulators in various aspects of follicular development, including steroidogenesis, ovulation, apoptosis, and gene regulation in poultry. However, there is a paucity of studies examining the specific impact of miRNAs on ovarian granulosa cells (GCs) across multiple grades in laying hens. Consequently, this study aims to investigate the roles of miRNAs in chicken GCs. By constructing miRNA expression profiles of GCs at 10 different time points, encompassing 4 pre-hierarchical, 5 preovulatory, and 1 postovulatory follicles stage, we identified highly expressed miRNAs involved in GC differentiation (miR-148a-3p, miR-143-3p), apoptosis (let7 family, miR-363-3p, miR-30c-5p, etc.), and autophagy (miR-128-3p, miR-21-5p). Furthermore, we discovered 48 developmentally dynamic miRNAs (DDMs) that target 295 dynamic differentially expressed genes (DDGs) associated with follicular development and selection (such as oocyte meiosis, progesterone-mediated oocyte maturation, Wnt signaling pathway, TGF-β signaling pathway) as well as follicular regression (including autophagy and cellular senescence). These findings contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the intricate mechanisms underlying follicle recruitment, selection, and degeneration, aiming to enhance poultry's reproductive capacity. Electrosynthesis of acetate from CO offers the prospect of a low-carbon-intensity route to this valuable chemical––but only once sufficient selectivity, reaction rate and stability are realized. It is a high priority to achieve the protonation of the relevant intermediates in a controlled fashion, and to achieve this while suppressing the competing hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and while steering multicarbon (C2+) products to a single valuable product––an example of which is acetate. Here we report interface engineering to achieve solid/liquid/gas triple-phase interface regulation, and we find that it leads to site-selective protonation of intermediates and the preferential stabilization of the ketene intermediates: this, we find, leads to improved selectivity and energy efficiency toward acetate. Once we further tune the catalyst composition and also optimize for interfacial water management, we achieve a cadmium-copper catalyst that shows an acetate Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 75% with ultralow HER (<0.2% H2 FE) at 150 mA cm−2. We develop a high-pressure membrane electrode assembly system to increase CO coverage by controlling gas reactant distribution and achieve 86% acetate FE simultaneous with an acetate full-cell energy efficiency (EE) of 32%, the highest energy efficiency reported in direct acetate electrosynthesis. This work regulates solid/liquid/gas triple-phase interface, facilitating site-selective protonation in carbon monoxide electroreduction. Exceptional points (EPs) have recently emerged as a new method for engineering the response of open physical systems, that is, systems that interact with the environment. The systems at the EPs exhibit a strong response to a small perturbation. Here, we show a method by which the sensitivity of silicon resonant sensors can be enhanced when operated at EPs. In our experiments, we use a pair of mechanically coupled silicon micromechanical resonators constituting a parity–time (PT)-symmetric dimer. Small perturbations introduced on the mechanically coupled spring cause the frequency to split from the EPs into the PT-symmetric regime without broadening the two spectrum linewidths, and this frequency splitting scales with the square root of the perturbation strength. The overall signal-to-noise ratio is still greatly enhanced, although the measured noise spectral density of the EP sensing scheme has a slight increase comparable to the traditional counterpart. Combination therapy can greatly improve the efficacy of cancer treatment, so identifying the most effective drug combination and interaction can accelerate the development of combination therapy. Here we developed a computational network biological approach to identify the effective drug which inhibition risk pathway crosstalk of cancer, and then filtrated and optimized the drug combination for cancer treatment. We integrated high-throughput data concerning pan-cancer and drugs to construct miRNA-mediated crosstalk networks among cancer pathways and further construct networks for therapeutic drug. Screening by drug combination method, we obtained 687 optimized drug combinations of 83 first-line anticancer drugs in pan-cancer. Next, we analyzed drug combination mechanism, and confirmed that the targets of cancer-specific crosstalk network in drug combination were closely related to cancer prognosis by survival analysis. In conclusion, our study provided an effective method for screening precise drug combinations for various cancer treatments, which may have important scientific significance and clinical application value for tumor treatment. Manufacturing systems develop toward cloud-edge collaboration where manufacturing and computation are tightly coupled. Under this circumstance, large-scale hybrid tasks that include manufacturing and computational tasks need to be collaboratively scheduled among heterogeneous resources. This paper solves the hybrid task scheduling problem in cloud-edge collaborative manufacturing systems with FCRN-assisted random differential evolution (F-RDE). First, we establish a system model for hybrid task scheduling with the objective of minimizing the total makespan and energy consumption. This model includes four types of time constraints between the hybrid tasks. The scheduling of such hybrid tasks has received limited attention in existing research. Next, large-scale decision variables are encoded into the evolutionary chromosomes. To generate offspring chromosomes, we construct four differential evolution operators that are randomly selected during the search process. Furthermore, we propose the fully convolutional regression network (FCRN) as a novel surrogate model to accelerate fitness evaluation. To enhance the integration of FCRN and the differential evolution procedure, we employ three strategies: chromosome folding, top-K re-evaluation, and three training modes. The FCRN surrogate can effectively represent chromosomes with up to 12000 dimensions and achieve generalization across diverse scheduling cases. This leads to reduced solving time and enhanced fitness estimation accuracy. Numerical experiments on three hybrid task scheduling cases validate the superiority compared to the other twelve scheduling algorithms, and the proposed FCRN surrogate can save at most 43% of solving time. Animals synthesize simple lipids using a distinct fatty acid synthase (FAS) related to the type I polyketide synthase (PKS) enzymes that produce complex specialized metabolites. The evolutionary origin of the animal FAS and its relationship to the diversity of PKSs remain unclear despite the critical role of lipid synthesis in cellular metabolism. Recently, an animal FAS-like PKS (AFPK) was identified in sacoglossan molluscs. Here, we explore the phylogenetic distribution of AFPKs and other PKS and FAS enzymes across the tree of life. We found AFPKs widely distributed in arthropods and molluscs (>6300 newly described AFPK sequences). The AFPKs form a clade with the animal FAS, providing an evolutionary link bridging the type I PKSs and the animal FAS. We found molluscan AFPK diversification correlated with shell loss, suggesting AFPKs provide a chemical defense. Arthropods have few or no PKSs, but our results indicate AFPKs contributed to their ecological and evolutionary success by facilitating branched hydrocarbon and pheromone biosynthesis. Although animal metabolism is well studied, surprising new metabolic enzyme classes such as AFPKs await discovery. Much is still unknown of the evolution of animal metabolic enzymes. This study describes a new enzyme family bridging the production of polyketides and membrane lipids. We elucidate here the influence of the rolling process on the microstructure and tensile properties of Mg-1Ca-0.5Mn-0.53Ce alloy. Intriguingly, the alloy subjected to 5-pass low-temperature rolling exhibited an excellent strength-ductility balance (ultimate tensile strength (UTS) = 261.4 MPa and elongation (EL) = 20%), which was far better than the one subjected to 4-pass low-temperature rolling (UTS = 218.3 MPa and EL = 4.3%). The coarse Mg2Ca particles in the 4-pass sample led to the local stress concentration, with consequent initiation of micro-cracks at the early deformation stage. In contrast, the microstructure of the 5-pass sample characterized by homogeneous ultra-fine grain, double peak texture, and refined precipitates contributed to the superior tensile properties. An accurate estimation of earth pressure on retaining walls is imperative to achieving its design. This paper presents an analytical method framework that considers the effect of plant transpiration relative to the traditional calculation approaches. Specifically, a closed-form solution for one-dimensional steady unsaturated flow considering plant transpiration is incorporated into a representation of effective stress to obtain the changes in matric suction, and effective stress. The representations are used to extend Hooke's law and Rankine's earth pressure theory to determine at-rest, active, and passive earth pressures. Subsequently, the analytical method is used in a series of analysis case studies on the influence of root architecture types, transpiration rates, and soil types on earth pressure, to reveal that it can rapidly obtain the earth pressure. Notably, the effect of plant transpiration on earth pressure is significant. Furthermore, it is found that soil types and transpiration rates have a larger influence than root architecture types. Collectively, the research not only reveals the effect of plant on earth pressure for retaining wall, but also provides a theoretical basis for further exploration of the contribution of plants to the stability of retaining wall. Dengue virus (DENV) infection remains a challenging health threat worldwide. Ubiquitin-specific protease 18 (USP18), which preserves the anti-interferon (IFN) effect, is an ideal target through which DENV mediates its own immune evasion. However, much of the function and mechanism of USP18 in regulating DENV replication remains incompletely understood. In addition, whether USP18 regulates DENV replication merely by causing IFN hyporesponsiveness is not clear. In the present study, by using several different approaches to block IFN signaling, including IFN neutralizing antibodies (Abs), anti-IFN receptor Abs, Janus kinase inhibitors and IFN alpha and beta receptor subunit 1 (IFNAR1)knockout cells, we showed that USP18 may regulate DENV replication in IFN-associated and IFN-unassociated manners. Localized in mitochondria, USP18 regulated the release of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) to the cytosol to affect viral replication, and mechanisms such as mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS) production, changes in mitochondrial membrane potential, mobilization of calcium into mitochondria, 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase 1 (OGG1) expression, oxidation and fragmentation of mtDNA, and opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) were involved in USP18-regulated mtDNA release to the cytosol. Currently, there is a lack of accurate models for predicting the thickness ratio of clad plates after rolling. To meet the predetermined thickness ratio after rolling, the initial thickness ratio is determined by manual trial. A large number of manual trials will greatly reduce the production efficiency and produce a large amount of waste. In this study, a thickness ratio calculation model for clad plates after rolling was established considering the urgent needs of the industry. This model can be used for symmetric and asymmetric rolling with the same roll diameter and different roll speeds. This model is also suitable for cladding plates made of different materials. Additional stream functions have been proposed to adjust the shape of the clad plate. Based on the optimal stream function, the permissible velocity and strain rate fields were established. The five-node Gauss–Legendre quadrature method was creatively adopted to solve the complex integration problem in power calculations. The Nelder-Mead algorithm was used to optimize the total power to obtain the thickness of the clad plate after rolling. When the analytical results were compared with the experimental and numerical results, the relative error was determined to be < 5%. The model was used to analyze the influence of the rolling parameters on the thickness ratio of the clad plate after rolling. The results showed that the thickness ratio increased with an increase in the reduction, decreased with an increase in the total thickness, and decreased with an increase in the work roll speed ratio. It is expected that this model will play a role in setting and optimizing the rolling process. Highlights: The relative error of the thickness ratio mathematical model is less than 5%. A neuron's regenerative capacity is governed by its intrinsic and extrinsic environment. Both peripheral and central neurons exhibit cell-type-dependent axon regeneration, but the underlying mechanism is unclear. Glia provide a milieu essential for regeneration. However, the routes of glia-neuron signaling remain underexplored. Here, we show that regeneration specificity is determined by the axotomy-induced Ca2+ transients only in the fly regenerative neurons, which is mediated by L-type calcium channels, constituting the core intrinsic machinery. Peripheral glia regulate axon regeneration via a three-layered and balanced modulation. Glia-derived tumor necrosis factor acts through its neuronal receptor to maintain calcium channel expression after injury. Glia sustain calcium channel opening by enhancing membrane hyperpolarization via the inwardly-rectifying potassium channel (Irk1). Glia also release adenosine which signals through neuronal adenosine receptor (AdoR) to activate HCN channels (Ih) and dampen Ca2+ transients. Together, we identify a multifaceted glia-neuron coupling which can be hijacked to promote neural repair. Limited neuron regeneration is the key barrier to recovery after central nervous system damage. The objective of this study was to investigate the clinical significance and roles of tumor progression locus 2 (TPL2) and peptidyl-prolyl cis–trans isomerase 1 (Pin1) in the occurrence and development of breast invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC). Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of TPL2 and Pin1 in human breast tissues, which included normal breast tissues (Normal), tissues with fibrocystic changes (FCC), ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), and IDC. The roles of TPL2 and Pin1 in the occurrence and development of IDC, as well as the correlation between their expression levels and clinicopathological parameters, were analyzed. Compared with Normal and FCC groups, the overexpression of TPL2 and Pin1 was significantly increased in DCIS and IDC groups (DCIS vs Normal: P = 0.002/P < 0.001; IDC vs Normal: P = 0.007/P = 0.003; DCIS vs. FCC: P = 0.008/P = 0.004; IDC vs. FCC: P = 0.04/P = 0.043). The expression levels of TPL2 and Pin1 were positively correlated in DCIS and IDC groups (P = 0.001, P = 0.011). In the IDC group, the Ki67 level in the TPL2 overexpression group was significantly lower than that in the TPL2 low expression group (P = 0.02). The TPL2 overexpression rate was significantly higher in IDC with histological grades 1–2 than that in IDC with histological grade 3 (P = 0.029). The TPL2 overexpression rate in IDC with tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage I was significantly higher than that in IDC with TNM stages II–III (P = 0.035). We conclude that TPL2 and Pin1 may synergistically promote the occurrence and development of IDC, but TPL2 overexpression may be an early molecular event in IDC development. TPL2 overexpression is significantly related with IDC with lower malignancy or earlier TNM stage, suggesting that the prognosis of IDC patients with TPL2 overexpression may be better and TPL2 overexpression may be a predictor of good prognosis in IDC. This paper is concerned with the dynamic event-triggered H∞ control issue of singularly perturbed switched systems, in which a persistent dwell-time switching regularity is embraced. The dynamic event-triggered mechanism is introduced to reduce some unnecessary data transmitted in the communication network so as to that the system can maintain the desired performance under better resource efficiency. Under this communication mechanism, a singular perturbation parameter independent criterion is derived to guarantee the globally uniform exponential stability with an H∞ performance for the considered persistent dwell-time switched singularly perturbed systems. Based on the criterion, a method is presented for calculating the gains of the desired controller. Using an in situ lunar regolith as a construction material in combination with 3D printing not only reduces the weight of materials carried from the Earth but also improves the automation of lunar infrastructure construction. This study aims to improve the printability of a geopolymer based on a BH-1 lunar regolith simulant, including the extrudability, open time, and buildability, by controlling the temperature and adding admixtures. Rheological parameters were used to represent printability with different water-to-binder ratios, printing temperatures, and contents of additives. The mechanical properties of the hardening geopolymer with different filling paths and loading directions were tested. The results show that heating the printed filaments with a water-to-binder ratio of 0.32 at 80 °C can adjust the printability without adding any additive, which can reduce the construction cost of lunar infrastructure. The printability of the BH-1 geopolymer can also be improved by adding 0.3% Attagel-50 and 0.5% polypropylene fiber by mass at a temperature of 20 °C to cope with the changeable environmental conditions on the Moon. After curing under a simulated lunar environment, the 72-h flexural and compressive strengths of the geopolymer specimens reach 4.1 and 48.1 MPa, respectively, which are promising considering that the acceleration of gravity on the Moon is 1/6 of that on the Earth. The number of casualties resulting from collisions between pedestrians and motor vehicles continues to rise. A significant factor is the misunderstanding of vehicle behavior intentions by pedestrians. This is especially true with the continuous development of vehicle automation technology, which has reduced direct interaction between drivers and the outside world. Therefore, accurate communication of vehicle behavior intentions is becoming increasingly important. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of external vehicle acceleration signal light on the interaction experience between pedestrians and vehicles. The differences between the use and nonuse of acceleration signal light are compared through controlled test track experiments in real scenarios and in videos.The results show that acceleration signal light help pedestrians understand vehicle behavior intentions more quickly and make safer crossing decisions as well as improving their perception of safety when crossing the street and their trust in vehicle behavior. Controlled mRNA storage and stability is essential for oocyte meiosis and early embryonic development. However, how to regulate mRNA storage and stability in mammalian oogenesis remains elusive. Here we showed that LSM14B, a component of membraneless compartments including P-body-like granules and mitochondria-associated ribonucleoprotein domain (MARDO) in germ cell, is indispensable for female fertility. To reveal loss of LSM14B disrupted primordial follicle assembly and caused mRNA reduction in non-growing oocytes, which was concomitant with the impaired assembly of P-body-like granules. 10× Genomics single-cell RNA-sequencing and immunostaining were performed. Meanwhile, we conducted RNA-seq analysis of GV-stage oocytes and found that Lsm14b deficiency not only impaired the maternal mRNA accumulation but also disrupted the translation in fully grown oocytes, which was closely associated with dissolution of MARDO components. Moreover, Lsm14b-deficient oocytes reassembled a pronucleus containing decondensed chromatin after extrusion of the first polar body, through compromising the activation of maturation promoting factor, while the defects were restored via WEE1/2 inhibitor. Together, our findings reveal that Lsm14b plays a pivotal role in mammalian oogenesis by specifically controlling of oocyte mRNA storage and stability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
