5-methylcytosine (m5C) is a post-transcriptional RNA modification identified, m5C readers can specifically identify and bind to m5C. ALYREF and YBX1 as members of m5C readers that have garnered increasing attention in cancer research. However, comprehensive analysis of their molecular functions across pancancer are lacking. Using the TCGA and GTEx databases, we investigated the expression levels and prognostic values of ALYREF and YBX1. Additionally, we assessed the tumor microenvironment, immune checkpoint-related genes, immunomodulators, Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) score and drug resistance of ALYREF and YBX1. Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) analyses were performed to investigate the potential functions associated with m5C readers and coexpressed genes. Aberrant expression of ALYREF and YBX1 was observed and positively associated with prognosis in KIRP, LGG and LIHC. Furthermore, the expression levels of ALYREF and YBX1 were significantly correlated with immune infiltration of the tumor microenvironment and immune-related modulators. Last, our analysis revealed significant correlations between ALYREF, YBX1 and eIFs. Our study provides a substantial understanding of m5C readers and the intricate relationship between ALYREF, YBX1, eIFs, and mRNA dynamics. Through multidimensional analysis of immune infiltration and drug sensitivity/resistance in ALYREF and YBX1, we propose a possibility for combined modality therapy utilizing m5C readers. The solubility of Na2O·xAl2O3 in a NaF-KF-AlF3-based low-temperature electrolyte was investigated, and the influence of electrolyte temperature at 750 ℃, CR = 1.3–1.4, CaF2, and LiF on the alumina solubility was studied. The dissolution rate of alumina in the electrolyte was determined by measuring the alumina concentration in the electrolyte at different times with an oxygen analyzer. The results showed that in the NaF-KF-AlF3-based low-temperature electrolyte, the dissolution rate of alumina in Na2O·xAl2O3 was faster than that of Al2O3. As the Na2O content in alumina increased, the dissolution rate increased. Similarly, a higher CR of NaF-KF-AlF3 and a higher temperature of the molten salt (750–850 °C) increased the dissolution rate of alumina in the electrolyte. The dissolution rate of alumina in NaF-KF-AlF3 decreased after adding CaF2 and LiF. According to the kinetics analysis, the dissolution rate of alumina followed the zero-order reaction rate law from 0–5 min, which showed that it depended on the amount of alumina absorbed in the electrolyte in the first five minutes. Fall prevention and management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) in long-term care (LTC) facility is a major challenge. The objective of this systematic review is to assess the evidence of digital technology in their management. All studies of English-language excluding case-reports were eligible for review. Databases chosen were MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Science and PSYCINFO from January 2000 to June 2020. Downs and Black checklist was used to check for risk of bias. Papers with a focus in LTC setting, using digital technology as intervention for older adults with dementia, and with measurable outcomes (outcomes that are quantified, not descriptive) were included in the final review. Seventeen original papers (8 RCTs, 8 quasi-experimental and 1 mixed method) were included. Three articles examining position-sensor technology for fall prevention showed mixed results. Two showed no difference and 1 showed small reduction in fall after alarm removal but the positive effect might be due to bias. Overall, the sample sizes were too small to draw meaningful conclusion. Fourteen studies (9 pet robots of which 8 were robotic seal/PARO) were identified for BPSD and results were mixed. Overall, PARO might have modest benefit in BPSD compared to usual care but might be no better than plush toy with more hallucinations or delusions seen in advanced dementia. However, the significant heterogeneity in methodology (intervention intensity, lack of record in psychoactive drug use), clinical tools used (different BPSD scales, different digital technologies) and variability in outcomes made it difficult to draw clear-cut conclusion. Studies involving other digital technologies are scarce and in pilot phases; hence, conclusion is premature. One limitation of the review was that only 9 out of 17 studies were of good quality. The limited research work in position-sensors meant insufficient evidence to prove efficacy for their use in LTC setting. The possible modest benefit of PARO in BPSD (e.g. in agitation, apathy or reduction in psychoactive drugs) was off-set by possible adverse events such as delusions or hallucinations in advanced dementia. Fibrotic tissue remodelling in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) will probably emerge as the leading cause of end-stage liver disease in the coming decades, but the ability to diagnose liver fibrosis in NAFLD patients noninvasively is limited. The abnormal expression of tRNA-derived small RNA (tsRNA) in plasma provides a novel idea for noninvasive diagnosis of various diseases, however, the relationship between tsRNAs and NAFLD is still unknown. Here, we took advantage of small RNA-Seq technology to profile tsRNAs in NAFLD patients and found the ubiquitous presence of hepatic tsRNAs secreted into circulating blood. Verification in a cohort of 114 patients with NAFLD and 42 patients without NAFLD revealed that three tsRNAs (tRF-Val-CAC-005, tiRNA-His-GTG-001, and tRF-Ala-CGC-006) were significantly elevated in the plasma of NAFLD patients, and the expression level are associated with NAFLD activity score (calculated from 0 to 8) and fibrosis stage (scored from 0 to 4). In mouse models, we further found that increased plasma levels of these three tsRNAs were positively correlated with the degree of liver fibrosis. Our study potentially identifies a new class of NAFLD biomarkers and reveal the possible existence of tsRNAs in the blood that can be used to predict fibrogenesis risk in patients diagnosed with NAFLD. Three-dimensional (3D) CuO/TiO2 hybrid heterostructure nanorod arrays (NRs) with noble-metal-free composition, fabricated by template-assisted low-cost processes, were used as the photo-Fenton-like catalyst for dye degradation. Here, CuO NRs were deposited into anodic aluminum oxide templates by electrodeposition method annealed at various temperatures, followed by deposition of TiO2 thin films through E-gun evaporation, resulting in the formation of CuO/TiO2 p-n heterojunction. The distribution of elements and compositions of the CuO/TiO2 p-n heterojunction were analyzed by EDS mapping and EELS profiles, respectively. In the presence of H2O2, CuO/TiO2 hybrid structure performed more efficiently than CuO NRs for Rhodamine B degradation under the irradiation of 500-W mercury-xenon arc lamp. This study demonstrated the effect of length of CuO NRs, on the photo-degradation performance of CuO NRs as well as CuO/TiO2 heterostructure. The optimized CuO/TiO2 hybrid NR array structure exhibited the highest photo-degradation activity, and the mechanism and role of photo-Fenton acting as the catalyst in photo-degradation of dye was also investigated. Heavily utilised reconfigurable production equipment has uneven deterioration rate caused by frequently changing configurations and complex subsystem interaction. Thus, traditional maintenance approaches that rely on reliability modelling are ineffective when applied on this class of equipment. This paper introduces a throughput-driven condition-based maintenance framework intended to perform predictive maintenance for heavily utilised reconfigurable production equipments. The effectiveness of the proposed method is experimentally validated using actual production records of the semiconductor test handlers. The primary benefit of the proposed framework is its prediction efficacy while accounting for the complex subsystem interaction through Bayesian statistics. Psoriasis (PS; MIM#177900) is a chronic inflammatory immune-mediated skin disorder. Although the disease is believed to be caused by a combination of genetic, immunologic and environmental factors, its complete etiology has not been fully understood. Here, we focused on the BSG (MIM#109480), a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily expressed ubiquitously in circulating immune cell populations. We observed that the expression level of BSG in PBMCs was elevated in psoriasis patients. To understand the underlying mechanism for this change, we genotyped the rs8259 T>A SNP located in the 3′UTR of the BSG gene from 668 psoriasis patients and 1,143 healthy controls. The rs8259 T allele was associated with significantly decreased psoriasis susceptibility (OR = 0.758, 95% CI 0.638-0.901, p = 0.002). Interestingly, the rs8259 polymorphism was located in a seed region for miR-492 binding. The miR-492 was able to bind to the BSG 3′UTR sequence bearing the rs8259 T allele as assayed by luciferase reporter gene assay. The substitution of T with A abolished miR-492 binding. BSG protein expression in PBMCs from patients carrying the rs8259 AA genotype was significantly higher than in those from patients carrying the rs8259 TT genotype. Our study suggests that miR-492 may physiologically suppress BSG expression and the BSG rs8259 polymorphism is associated with decreased psoriasis susceptibility through affecting miR-492 binding.
