When dentists see pediatric patients with more complex tooth development than adults during tooth replacement, they need to manually determine the patient's disease with the help of preoperative dental panoramic radiographs. To the best of our knowledge, there is no international public dataset for children's teeth and only a few datasets for adults' teeth, which limits the development of deep learning algorithms for segmenting teeth and automatically analyzing diseases. Therefore, we collected dental panoramic radiographs and cases from 106 pediatric patients aged 2 to 13 years old, and with the help of the efficient and intelligent interactive segmentation annotation software EISeg (Efficient Interactive Segmentation) and the image annotation software LabelMe. We propose the world's first dataset of children's dental panoramic radiographs for caries segmentation and dental disease detection by segmenting and detecting annotations. In addition, another 93 dental panoramic radiographs of pediatric patients, together with our three internationally published adult dental datasets with a total of 2,692 images, were collected and made into a segmentation dataset suitable for deep learning. Summary: This study provides a national estimate of the incidence of hospitalizations and assesses the clinical features and outcomes during inpatient admission due to osteoporotic fractures diagnosed by ICD-10-CM/PCS among the elderly in the USA, using the US Nationwide Inpatient Sample, 2016–2018. Purpose: To provide a national estimate of the incidence of hospitalizations and assess the clinical features and outcomes during inpatient admission due to osteoporotic fractures (OFs) among the elderly in the USA. Methods: The study included all inpatients aged 65 years and older who participated in the US Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS). We conducted a retrospective analysis of hospitalizations with OFs diagnosed by the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification/Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-CM/PCS), using the US NIS, 2016–2018. Trends in epidemiological characteristics and outcomes were calculated by annual percentage change (APC). Results: From 2016 to 2018, there were an estimated 0.16 million hospitalizations for OFs, and the estimated annual incidence rate changed from 995 cases per 1 million persons in 2016 to 1114 cases per 1 million persons in 2018 (APC, 5.8% [95% CI, 0.0 to 12.0]; P > 0.05). Over two-thirds of the patients (68.2%) were age-related osteoporosis with current pathological fracture, and OFs were more likely to occur in vertebra (51.7%) and femur (34.7%). During the hospitalization, the average length of stay (LOS) was 5.83 days, the average cost reached $60,901.04, and the overall mortality was 2.3%. All outcomes including LOS, average cost and mortality did not change significantly in 2016–2018 (all P values for trend were over 0.05). Conclusion: Between 2016 and 2018, the incidence rate of OFs remained relatively stable, but the total number of cases was huge. Salmonella, as a zoonotic pathogen, has attracted widespread attention worldwide, especially in the transmission between household pets and humans. Therefore, we investigated the epidemic distribution of dog Salmonella from pet hospitals and breeding base in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, and used multilocus sequence typing (MLST) and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPRs) to subtype Salmonella isolates. From April 2018 to November 2019, a total of 469 samples were collected from pet hospitals and breeding base, including 339 dog samples and 60 cat samples. S. Kentucky (40.74%) was the most prevalent serotype, but other, such as S. Typhimurium (18.52%) and S. Indiana (18.52%), were also widespread. Eight different sequence type (ST) patterns were identified by MLST and ST198 was the highest proportion of these isolates. CRISPRs analysis showed that 9 different Kentucky CRISPR types (KCTs) was identified from ST198. 48 spacers including 29 (6 News) for CRISPR1 and 19 (4 News) for CRISPR2 that proved the polymorphic of Salmonella genes in samples from different sources. The analysis demonstrated that the common serotypes were widely present in pet hosts in the same area. This analysis shows that CRISPR genes have better recognition ability in the same serotype, which has a positive effect on the traceability of Salmonella and the prevention and treatment of salmonellosis. Purpose: To compare the perioperative and functional outcomes of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) and thulium laser enucleation of the prostate (ThuLEP) for the treatment of large-volume benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) (> 80 ml). Methods: A total of 116 consecutive patients with BPH were randomized to be treated surgically with either HoLEP (n = 58) or ThuLEP (n = 58), following the classical three-lobe enucleation technique. Follow-up was assessed at 1, 3, 6, 12 and 18 months after surgery. Results: At 18 months, the lower urinary tract symptom index was improved significantly in both groups compared with the baseline values. The operative time (78.4 ± 8.0 vs. 71.4 ± 6.4 min) and enucleation time (61.2 ± 5.4 vs. 56.4 ± 8.4 min) were significantly shorter for ThuLEP compared to HoLEP (both p < 0.001). There were no significant differences between the two groups regarding morcellation time, resected weight, hemoglobin decrease, catheter time and hospital stay (p > 0.05). The HoLEP and ThuLEP groups had equivalent International Prostate Symptom Scores (3 [3–3] vs. 3 [3–3], p = 0.776), quality of life (1 [1–2] vs. 2 [1–2], p = 0.809), Qmax (25.3 ± 4.8 ml/s vs. 24.7 ± 4.4 ml/s, p = 0.470), postvoid residual urine (PVR) (6.1 [2.6–20.8] vs. 7.7 [3.1–22.8] ml, p = 0.449) and PSA (0.84 ± 0.32 vs. 0.90 ± 0.34 ml, p = 0.309) at 18 months postoperatively. Conclusion: Both HoLEP and ThuLEP relieve lower urinary tract symptoms in a comparable way with high efficacy and safety. Background: To evaluate the benefit of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) for survival in high-grade upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC), a propensity score-based analysis was performed with high-grade UTUC patients from multiple urologic centers. Methods: From three urologic centers, 48 high-grade UTUC patients who received chemotherapy followed by surgery (NAC group) and 72 high-grade UTUC patients who underwent initial surgery (no-NAC group) were involved in a propensity score-based analysis. After propensity score-based (1:1) matching, 37 patients receiving NAC and 37 patients not receiving NAC were followed. Results: The patients who received NAC had improved disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS), with a 3-year DFS rate of 78.4% and an OS rate of 86.5% versus a 3-year DFS rate of 51.4% and an OS rate of 62.2% for those treated with initial surgery (P = 0.018 and P = 0.02, respectively). In the multivariate analysis, the NAC group had a lower risk for mortality [DFS hazard ratio (HR) 0.25; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.10–0.62; P = 0.003; OS HR 0.22; 95% CI 0.085–0.57; P = 0.002]. The analysis of patient survival in matched subgroups showed that NAC was beneficial in terms of the 3-year DFS for the group with a cT of 3 or higher (DFS HR 0.37; 95% CI 0.14–0.94; P = 0.036) and the group that had tumor with hydronephrosis (DFS HR 0.31; 95% CI 0.11–0.87; P = 0.026). Water transfer from the Qiantang River to the West Lake, Hangzhou City, China, has been performed since 1985 to improve the lake water quality. This study was conducted to assess the water quality and estimate the pollutant fluxes from different sources into the lake to enable better water quality management. Monthly variations in water quality variables, namely chemical oxygen demand (COD), 5-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), ammonium nitrogen (NH-N), and nitrate nitrogen (NO-N), and flow were analyzed for 1-year period from April 2012 to March 2013. The pollutant fluxes into the lake were mainly contributed by the water transferred from the Qiantang River, followed by runoff and rainfall. The results showed that the annual influxes of COD, BOD, TP, TN, NO-N, and NH-N into the lake were 1,595.3, 255.8, 8.2, 576.0, 360.3, and 84.2 t, respectively, while the annual fluxes out of the lake were 2,204.6, 301.8, 7.1, 336.5, 191.6, and 36.1 t, respectively. The annual net flux of pollutants in decreasing order was TN > NO-N > NH-N > TP > BOD > COD, and nitrogen was found to be the major pollutant in the West Lake. It is recommended that the water transferred from the Qiantang River should be treated by chemical precipitation as well as denitrification technology to reduce the nitrogen concentration. Agricultural activities are frequently associated with water contamination. Thus, the development of efficient strategies for groundwater protection in agricultural areas requires an assessment of the contaminants. Given this perspective, groundwater quality monitoring is carried out in a rice-growing area in Hangjiahu Plain, East China. Thirty-two piezometers are installed to measure physico-chemical parameters such as major ions, field-measured parameters (pH, electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen, and temperature), and δN isotopic ratios and their variations in space and time. The groundwater shows a variable chemical composition, e.g. EC ranged from 760 to 2,300 μS cm. Most groundwater is weakly acidic, and is characterized as Ca + Na− HCO + SO + Cl type. The results demonstrate NH coming from agricultural activities and SO deriving from natural chemical inputs are the major contaminants in the groundwater at the study area. Correlations among NO, NH and K suggest that these ions come from the same source of fertilizer and indicate a significant degree of nitrification in the study area. The highly positive correlations among the variables of HCO, SO, and Mg indicated that these ions were derived from the same source of natural chemical inputs. A regional scale investigation was performed to study the contamination and transfer of Ni, Cr, Co, Al, Cd and Hg and their relations with Fe, V and Ti in the soil-rice system under actual field conditions from a typical developed industrial area. Thirty-two pairs of rice and soil samples were collected in Suzhou region, China. The results show that the transfer abilities of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) were generally in the order of Cd > Hg > Co > Ni > Cr > Al from soil to root, Hg > Cr > Al > Ni > Cd > Co from root to straw and Ni > Hg > Cr > Cd > Al > Co from straw to grain. Compared with the relevant criterion, the major pollutants in rice grains were Al and Ni. 18.8 and 12.5 % of grain samples were contaminated by Al and Ni, respectively. Besides the increased soil PTEs concentrations, the enhanced transfer of Ni and Al from rice root to grain via straw may play another crucial role in Ni and Al contamination of rice grain. The relatively weaker transfer ability of Co in the rice plant may be conducive to the rice grain keeping an uncontaminated level of Co. Additionally, Al, Ni, Cr and Co showed high correlations with each other, and they also had a close association with Fe, V and Ti in soil and rice. These correlations imply that Fe, V and Ti may play an important role in the transfer, accumulation and speciation of Al, Ni, Cr and Co in the soil-rice system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to identify the effects of soil properties on the transfer of Cd from soil to wheat under actual field conditions, 126 pairs of topsoil and wheat samples were collected from the Yangtze River delta region, China. Relevant parameters (Cd, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, N, P, K, S, pH, total organic carbon, and speciation of soil Cd) in soil and wheat tissues were analyzed, and the results were treated by statistical methods. Soil samples (19.8%) and 14.3% of the wheat grain samples exceeded the relevant maximum permissible Cd concentrations in China for agricultural soil and wheat grain, respectively. The major speciations of Cd in soil were exchangeable, bound to carbonates and fulvic and humic acid fraction, and they were readily affected by soil pH, total Ca, Mg, S and P, DTPA-Fe, Ex-Ca, and Ex-Mg. Cadmium showed a strong correlation with Fe, S, and P present in the grain and the soil, whereas there was no significant correlation in the straw or root. Generally, soil pH, Ca, Mg, Mn, P, and slowly available K restricted Cd transfer from soil to wheat, whereas soil S, N, Zn, DTPA-Fe, and total organic carbon enhance Cd uptake by wheat. This systematic review investigated whether paracetamol combination therapy is more effective and safer than monotherapy or placebo in low back pain and osteoarthritis.Online database searches were conducted for randomised trials that evaluated paracetamol combined with another analgesic compared to a placebo or the non-paracetamol ingredient in the combination (monotherapy) in low back pain and osteoarthritis. The primary outcome was a change in pain. Secondary outcomes were (serious) adverse events, changes in disability and quality of life. Follow-up was immediate (≤ 2 weeks), short (> 2 weeks but ≤ 3 months), intermediate (> 3 months but < 12 months) or long term (≥ 12 months). A random-effects meta-analysis was conducted. Risk of bias was assessed using the original Cochrane tool, and quality of evidence using Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE).Twenty-two studies were included.
